And you can't possibly trust the Bible.  For one, it is written by man, not by God.  I look at things from a much bigger point of view. The possesiveness shown in the Bible is a complete creation of man, not God.

Feel free to have a monogomous relationship all you want, but when you start using it to hurt the reputation of one of the greatest presidents in the last few decades, that is when the Republicans and all like them cross the line.

Now I completely know Saddam had the biological and chem weapons, but he had no way to deliver them here.  Bush is a complete moron that, with another 4 years, will further degrade this nation's steps toward freedom for all.  We'll win the war on terror either way, Bush, Kerry, or even Nader.  What I worry about is what happens afterwards, and truly, I know with Kerry, we'll be stronger afterwards than with Bush.

I agree, this isn't a "before you make a religious statement" topic. Don't mix faith with politics.

Once again I'll repeat my question which no one (chip) answered. When did the President become the moral leader of our country?

Also Snipes, you may be able to blow holes in what you THINK is Catholic belief, but the Bible does not equal official Catholic dogma and doctrine. The actual faith itself is much more modern than the Bible. (infallibility of popes had something to do with it).

Ahh, good, fun times are here again.

Lesse, where do we go first.

The President has to be held to high standards in what he does.  That is one of the first things that I have been taught in officer training.  If a leader is not, then the people under him lose respect for him, and then his ability to lead is impaired.  That was one reason why the whole Monica thing was wrong.  Also, it is disrespect for his office, I don't care who you are, getting a blow job in the Oval Office is dead wrong, and he should have been castrated for that.  Thirdly, the President needs to uphold the law, and he violated it.  Purjury is a crime, and he was seen to be above the law in that instance, getting nothing but a slap on the wrist.  And Clinton did not do a good job in office, he ran our intelligence, our economy, and our security into the ground, and the military exploits run under his command lost us massive credability.  I won't say that he was the worst President we have ever had, but he is certainly down there.

And don't ven get me started on Kerry.  Kerry for diplomacy?!?  He came right out and denigrated all the contributions our allies have made to the war!  Called them the "Coerced and the Bribed".  If I was one of our allies, I'd be pissed.  That is no way to thank our friends. 

I'm not going to bring religion into it, but there are a few things that I cannot hold back.  The Catholic faith has some issues, but I will thank you not to denigrate it.  It is an awesome institution, and if you really feel the need to be snide about it I will open a new topic in the lounge.  I know the Catholic Church very well, and will be more then happy to blow apart anything that you have to say about it. 

One other thing, kinda religious, but not really.  Anubis, how can you be a Catholic, or any Christian, and not hold firm to the bible.  That is like me swearing to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States, but thinking that the whole document is a load of crap.  It is hypocritical, and I just can't get my mind around it.  Sorry if that offends you.

The populations of many countries are firmly with us, and the Brits have always been kinda flaky.  I say that with the utmost respect and fondness, I have a lot of British friends, but they are flaky.  That is beside the point though.

Kerry most certainly did not win the debate.  He flip flops so much that he couldn't even maintain consistency thoughout that little debate, let alone through a term of office.  He made contradictory statements, and I believe came out looking like an ass.  I will admit, he is a better speaker then Bush, but most of what he says is horrendously confusing.

The Clinton Economy was a figment of our imaginations.  Let me give you a few examples.  Enron, Worldcom, etc. etc.  The Clinton economy was vastly inflated by lies and scandals, and had already started to come apart in his last year in office.

Now I'm not a Bush man nor am I a Kerry man. I don't even WANT to vote in this election.

I agree with JMac about the debate. Kerry contradicted himself 4 or 5 times, said we fought in Iraq ALONE and lost ALL our allies (which Bush called him on for neglecting the efforts of Britain, Australia and Poland). Kerry may be a better speaker than Bush, but he doesn't know what the crap he is talking about 1/2 the time he is speaking. On the other hand, Kerry also made some very valid points. I thought it was very respectable of him, when the question of what characteristics of the other candidate should prevent him from serving, that he said "It is not my place to talk about the characteristics of that man."

In the end, the debate was not about winning and losing. It was about the beginnings of Kerry actually CEMENTING what he stands for and what his beliefs are, and about Bush laying out his beliefs. Neiher man "won" or "lost," rather the American people (and the World) finally got a clearer picture of the two candidates and their plans for their terms.
