This week we will start rolling out our preparations for Chapter 9. I'm sure most of you have heard of our chapter stories around here but since its been 6 years since the last one I also know that most of us weren't around to be involved in them. These events are nothing like our ESC or HSC, there is no competition, we are working together to create a full scale story that defines our little club here. These stories are the only way that the VE Cannon progresses. Our squad stories and competitions and really anything that happens between the chapter stories fills in the gaps with our personal touches, but these are the big kahunas.

I hope that helps you to understand what an amazing thing it is to be active right now and to participate in a Chapter story makes you apart of VE cannon itself.

In short: It's a big deal.

In this thread I've included (very) brief summaries of our last two chapter stories (8.5 and 8), as I mention at the end you can also see all the other chapters on the comnet v.1 board.

These are not short stories, but I highly recommend you adding them to your reading list.

Current Events:
The Stormtrooper Corps has been using the Plague Wars ( Plague Wars Wiki) to regroup, train and secure our territories. We now will face the Corellian League, the latest group that’s rose to the top in the Corellian Sector. The NR has managed to place one of their supporters as the new leader in the Corellian League but he was removed and replaced by Thrackan Sal-Solo. Sal-Solo has targeted the VE as we offered refugees from the Correllian worlds (many with vital intelligence) safe harbor. Holding Corellia would be a huge step towards our eventual domination of Coruscant and the core worlds, and the time to take it is now.

Chapter 8.5 (2007)
Thrawn made a deal with the NR which strengthened the NR more than expected, and gave them the moral high ground in many key locations in our region of space. Our job was to destabilize the NR’s hold on the region by smearing the NR and Thrawn troops to the locals. The first objective was on the planet Abregado-rae to assassinate key political party members. The second occurred on the planet Belgaroth, and the third on planet Phu.

Chapter 8 (2004-2005)
Eight year plan to move the VE into the heart of the Core Worlds is hatched. Moorja was the first target in the plan.

The NRs presence in the region is obviously still pretty high and they are trying to influence Sal-Solo it's just not as successful as the puppet they put in power before him. The CL wants to be independent so they will be pushing everyone away, I'd still expect them to be circling like flies on shit.

Updating your wiki's as we wait for the story to begin is a great idea. I will also make a topic for us to add info about any NPC's that are used to help with reference information.

In cannon only 1 year has passed since Chapter 8...in 2005....but its kinda timey wimey.

**Given the objective of Chapter 8 I'm willing to say that really more like 5 years have passed but that's nothing we will make "official" in story. Time is something you just need to keep in the back of your head as you consider your characters journey rather than something to be specific about.

Well given the time frame of the Plague Wars alone years would have had to pass, but its just one of those things.

Chapter 9: Prelude

The Stormtrooper Corps has spent the Plague Wars regrouping, training, and putting out fires. From missions aiding in evacuating refugee populations to putting down New Republic and Black Sun insurgent cells on the colony worlds to holding back the advance forces of our multiple enemies. Now that we have taken all the punches, it is time to hit back.

Our main opposition is the Corellian Leauge, the latest face of the leadership of the Corellian Sector. After quietly sending the Imperial authorities packing, the NR eventually placed a puppet leader in. He was forcibly removed and the new semi-reluctant leader, Thracken Sal-Solo rules an independence-minded hodge-podge of military and social malcontents whose only binding force is that they are tired of the rest of the galaxy telling them what to do.

This would be fine, if they were not as guilty of the same offence. Many of our refugee community have come from the Corellian worlds. Some are legitimate refugees, others were political opponents of the ruling powers (aka Sal-Solo). Even more had done their duty, fought and defended their fellow citizens in uniform, protecting scientist, cleaning up bodies, even delivering the deadly payloads of the Plauge Wars before choosing to no longer be part of the chaos.

Many have been targeted by the Corellian League for siding against them and now the Leauge has also targeted those that offer these refugees safe harbor. The Vast Empire, while drawn into this conflict by forces outside of our traditional stomping grounds, will not shy away from this fight. While the Core Worlds burned, we took in the best of them and thrived. Now is our time.

Mission Outline:

Shumogi is a battered mining planet, known primarily for a failed Corusforming experiment back during the Old Republic. While the environment is tenuous, the resources available on the planet make it irresistible to mining companies, which stripped away much of the readily available ore over a matter of mere centuries. What remains are hard-to-obtain deposits, a creaky infrastructure, and the perfect environment to test military hardware.

Dozens of military armament manufacturers have set up shop on Shumogi in recent decades. Among the first – and largest – was Rothana Heavy Engineering, which began testing and production of their various walker lines here. Kuat Drive Yards has supplanted them since then but Shumogi remains a major site for heavy advanced walker prototype testing and development.

Among the large and small shops are those who specialize in prototype manufacture of various parts and systems for military hardware. One of these is the Fry-Urquhart Fabritek workshop. For those in the know, this shop is the brains behind the power plants of most major military and industrial machines in the galaxy. Primarily their designs are purchased by major firms, PowaTek being a preferred client, and resold with the major brnad name they are more capable of the mass production necessary for market distribution.

Our interest in this company comes due to the introduction of the All-Terrain Shock Enforcer into our armed services. A very capable vehicle, the AT-SE has a fatal flaw in that the Kuat Drive Yards FW-72SE Compact Fusion Drive that comes standard does not have the power to operate in difficult terrain and still be able to power weapons systems.

While no one failure has occurred in the field, many incidents have happened in testing and training, at the cost of a few crew’s lives. KDY has been very forthcoming with patches and repairs, yet none have solved the problem.

Fry-Urquhart, however, has been on the case and has tested prototype replacement currently named the PowaTek AH-65 Compact Fusion Drive. However, a few complications have been raised. The PowaTek corporate board has increasingly become more pro-New Republic and is planning to kill the project, scrap the prototypes and “relocate” the engineers and technicians involved. Tipped off to the potential loss of technology and lives, we are tasked to – at minimum – get the plans of the engine plant for production by Vast Empire resources. Ideally, the removal of the prototypes and liberation of the men and women working on the project would be key.

It is important to remember that Fry-Urquhart is not the enemy here. In addition, the amount of different, mostly Imperial-leaning companies in this area should be considered. Should our next campaign be successful, Shumogi will be in our sphere of influence. It is important to make a good impression on the new neighbors if at all possible.



Enemy: Corellian League

Location: Fry-Urquhart Fabritek Workshop on Shumogi (owned by Rothana Heavy Engineering who are responsible for prototype Walker Tech).

F-U Fabritek has several clients that manufacture parts for them, the largest being PowaTech (PowaTech has now started to lean towards the NR)


Previous Missions to Shumogi:

ESC12 – ARC and Pheonix are dispatched to Shumogi to investigate a research facility owned by the Gygaxial Pharmaceutical Company and its security department called Flail. After ARC intelligence gathering it was determined that Flail had taken over the facility and had done experimentation resulting in undead husks that were now running rampant through the entire structure. Phoenix was sent in to secure the facility and ensure that Flail’s experimentation would not be repeated. 

The Command Center and Data was destroyed but the fate of the husks will continue to haunt everyone that set foot on Flails bloody floor.


ARC Theta  - ARC was tasked with meeting a warlord by the name of Bryce Levi, he ran a facility that was developing Heavy Walker Mechs. The mission was to send one slicer into the Imperial Ordinance Research Facility on the Warlords base to obtain plans for the Walker while the majority of the team posed as a work crew building a base of operations in the area who was purchasing their supplies from Levi.  The suspicious leader of Levi’s R&D team spotted the ARC trooper as he was on his second attempt to take the data and eliminated him. The rest of the team was exposed and hunted by Levi’s mercs ending in ARC Theta being disbanded. Whiskey, the ARC commander, was sent on missions under Orr’s command but held in the brig on Fort Sexton as the “terrorist” that attacked Levi’s base “without orders”.

Just an FYI I had a request to hold off on the new objectives for 24 more hours so I did that. Now tonight I do have to finish a short paper for my class which I'm about half done with and once that is finished I'll start working on the objective post...I am giving fair warning that if I'm too tired to produce decent work it will be up tomorrow but if I'm able new objectives will be up sometime tonight.

In short: tonight or tomorrow new objectives, be prepared

Once the Raiders take their minor objectives I was thinking. Mox can put the base on lock down. Then The Raiders can take command of the hangar they can open it to allow more imperial soldiers to enter the base to assist in objective Besh.

It would be nice if ARC could do a post, where they give us a way into PT. :P
