The Vast Empire Navy Academy welcomes you, _____.

I am Master Chief Petty Officer Rocketman1167 or you can just call me Rocket, an Academy Trainer for the Vast Empire Navy, and I'll be helping you today.

Now that you have posted a welcome message here on the Naval Academy board, you completed Imperial Initiation and have started Basic Training. BT, as it is called, is mostly Flight School, which prepares you for daily life in a squadron.

The first step in Flight School is to complete Chapter 1, which can be found here .


Once you are done with that put it up here so that it can be reviewed.

Our method of writing here in the Vast Empire Navy (and the Vast Empire) is to write in third person. Please do so. If you have any questions, feel free to ComNet PM myself for guidance or hop on IRC and go to the Naval Academy channel which is #VENA. Good Luck.

VENA wiki page updated to who is on the training staff.

Due to recent disturbances, I would like to be removed from the VENA Training Roster immediately.  I am sorry if this comes at a bad time, but I am just too overwhelmed to keep doing this and Tuk'ata, and worry about RL.  I can handle 2 things, just not three.  Plus, I was to be FL until someone could be found to replace me, and well... someone has.  So, I am stepping down from my position as Trainer in the VE Naval Academy.

Due to medical issues, I will be on two weeks of leave.

The following is the first draft of my shiny new Welcome to Flight School message template:

Welcome to the Vast Empire Naval Academy, Crewman __________.

My name is Petty Officer 2nd Class Wyl Trykon, and I'll be your Training Officer (TO) while you go through the Academy's Orientation program.  I'll be around to help get you acclimated to life in the Vast Empire (a process we call, "Basic Training"), the most important part of which is learning how to role-play as an Imperial starfighter pilot in an ongoing, collaboratively-written story (a set of skills which is taught in something we call, "Flight School").

With your first post here on the Naval Academy board, you've completed Imperial Initiation (well done) and are hereby clear to begin Flight School, which will prepare you for daily life as a pilot in a VE squadron.

Your next step should be to visit the VE Wiki page for Flight School, found here, and begin working on Chapter 1: Character Development by clicking the appropriate link.  When you finish the assignment, post your work here (bio and ID line), so I can review it, and we'll proceed from there.  Please note: here in the VE, we write in the third person, past tense; you should too.

Okay cool very good.

I just cleared new recruit DarkMiner for Flight School.  We'll see what he comes up with; I may ask for some second opinions from ya'all before grading him after the various chapters.
