Guys- please, listen carefully.  This story is to be built off of flights, not necessarily squadrons.  I've told both Trevor Evenson as well as Tomas that they need to get their own posts in, but if it's a question of 'understanding' the story- post it here or anywhere for that matter: outline exactly what you do not understand and I will give to you, in full detail, exactly what you need to know.  As for feeling that you can't post without your superiors posting, that's total nonsense at this point.  This is a story about independence, liberation of your own ideas: the entire idea was to prevent dependence of this type.  So- let's explore some ideas...

Skar- you're a flight lead: it is your privilege, neigh, pleasure to lead a group of people in a story.  It is totally up to you at this point as to where you lead your flight and how you want to split them up.  If you haven't been directly told otherwise, get posting as soon as you've developed some idea of a story for your group: get everyone involved.  Schedule a meeting with your flight, sure, but don't wait for that- get started here and let's see ideas shooting back and forth until you can get something worked out.  And let's try to remember that this club, though Star Wars based, is not writing stories entirely about Star Wars.  We base it in that galaxy and give it that context, but really we're writing stories about loyalty, friendship, betrayal, love, hate...  The list goes on to less dramatic themes, but try and be ironic or interesting.  Force your character into a position for which they have no choice but to adapt: don't be comfortable.  There are two types of characters: flat and round.  Flat characters are usually supporting and don't do much throughout a story- that's not what we want from you.  Round characters, on the other hand, are about action, they're dynamic- they change throughout the story.  Keep that in mind as you begin to accumulate ideas: and you can begin virtually anywhere.  Not only do you have a set of objectives laid out in front of you (the sequence going on with the Rishi and Emancipator for instance), but you have ships with thousands of people on them that are waiting to be spoken of.  Surely, somehow, there is something of interest going on somewhere- and at the least - in the middle of a battle of this size?  Any confusion of any kind you have with those events detailed in the (Info) thread: message me immediately or leave a post here: I will get back to you.

As for where you guys wanna start- if you'd like, I can play the part of your wing commander and move you guys along by posting as a set up NPC (that's any made up wing we want, btw...).  As for Flight 3: if Tomas can't get to posting, and I'm not trying to rag on him, but out of necessity, if that group can't get going, we can add Lamel to Flight 2.  It is not my intention to carry you guys, but to get you started- please, don't be so timid: you're braver than this.  Let me see who has the guts around here: I really need to see something out of this group.

I'll be coming back with a story idea within the next day or so, but right now I'd just like to indicate we have a new recruit and, as should be customary by now- every new recruit should receive a warm welcome: help us out?

Alrighty, folks- here's the skinny:

I've made a post that puts Shazam right in at the beginning of the battle- he'll by flying as Phoenix Wing Commander with a group of five fighters (he and his wingman are in shielded Interceptors while the other three are in normal TIE Fighters) launching from the Carrack Cruiser Civesu.  Again, if you don't know what ships I'm talking about for some reason- check out the map

Note that the Civesu, in this beginning sequence at least, is heading straight for the Sacheen-class light escort Runthar- each of those two ships has ten heavy turbolasers spread about the top surface of thier hulls- both can shoot straight at one another.  I've only barelly initiated this turbolaser battle, but remember that accuracy can be more difficult because of the slim profiles they're allowing eachother- either way: you don't want to guide your pilots into that line of fire.  In my post, Shazam decides to have the other three TIE pilots hold back behind the Civesu while he and his wingman try to take out maybe one or two of the A-9 Vigilance fighters (shield less, fragile fighters with two very, very heavy guns and some serious speed- not to be taken lightly).  Shazam and his wingman successfully take out one while their own shields suffer to some degree; the TIE Fighters that were held back eventually spring up and take out two more of the A-9s.  Now, at the very end of my post, I say that Shazam sees three squadrons moving in from the corner of his eye- one of those is Kaph and the other is Nazgul, the both of them launched from the Victory-II class Star Destroyer Rishi.  The third of those squadrons is a TIE Interceptor (shieldless, missleless original versions) launched from the ISD Coruscant.  Meanwhile, just as this first little skirmish with Shazam's group and the enemy A-9s gets started, another squadron of X-wings and another of A-wings is launched from the Nebulon-B frigate Dissonance, just behind the Runthar. 

So- here's what we have happening: there are now a total of nine enemy A-9s left, all in perfect condition, but these are good pilots and they can take you out if you're not careful.  Also, recall that the Runthar and the Civesu are heading right at one another- by the time someone else post, they should be in good range of one another, the Runthar trying to protect the right (starboard) flank/side of the Rishi as it pulls up alongside it.  Remember that all of this is happening below the enemy ISD Emancipator (this ISD was stolen by the NR at the battle of Endor), and that the Rishi is diving below the ISD so that it can re-direct up sharply into it's belly and try and do as much damage with its turbolasers as possible.  Should look like... 



The important thing here is choosing your targets: which I think we have figured out but you can discuss further and get started as you please.  For Kaph (they know their equipment?) : their lead flight will be taking toward the A-9s to do what they can, while second Flight moves on to the A-wing formation, and third flight will go to the X-wings.  For Nazgul (flying VEN Interceptors): flight one will also move to the A-9s, flight two to the X-wings, and Flight three to the A-wings.  As for the third squadron assisting you in normal interceptors, Elik Squadron, flight one will head to the A-wings, flight two to the A-9s, and Flight three to the X-wings.  Their NPC commander will be 2nd Lieutenant Barkley- describe and develop him as you so please, but only the people who should be in contact with him should be talking about him to avoid mixing up story-lines and facts (Nazgul Flight 3, Kaph Flight 2 and possibly the commanders of any of the squadrons).

Now- why do I give you all this information?  Let me also add that the Emancipator is constantly spinning and soon the ships below it will be doing the same in order to maintain stability.  Quite simply: sensory overload.  I'll leave it up to my commanders as well as myself to set the example, but essentially, we're giving you things to describe when you can't think of anything else to talk about.  Usually, as writers, we tend to think of sensory information as sound, taste, smell, vision, touch- it's harder to apply in a fighter.  What we're going to do, since smell and taste will probably remain the same for the most part, is give you a crap load of visual stimulus to describe throughout this battle.  It's unlikely you'll be in a fighter for the entire time, it's actually more likely you'll have at least a short adventure aboard a ship, so don't worry that we're not going to get to the other senses   If you have any questions- post them on your thread here and either your commanders, someone who knows, or myself will answer you directly.  We need people with guts here: if you've got 'em step up: and have a great time!

We are gearing up for a big story as Shaz mentioned, and I know you are anxious to get roleplaying.

Feel free to post some character development during the briefing, thoughts from the conversation I posted, as well as thoughts/feelings as we prepare to launch. Also, if you want you can go prior to that...your arrival on the ship/meeting me (you are in my flight) and/or Trevor, or whoever else in the squadron you'd like.

I'm just wondering if anyone could give me an update on Nazgul here or through the messaging system. Even if there isn't a VE meeting I would like to have a Navy one. I want to throw something together so we can get everyone on the same page.

For those of you who don't know, I became the WXO as of this month so that's why I'm doing this (the roster is wrong BTW). So if I could get something before 4 EST it would be greatly appreciated.

If nothing else- get to know your squadron mates; that'll be my executive order as soon as we have this new arrangement down, as well.  The final 'okay' should be coming through very soon.

Just a note to all forces for how things are going to be working with a Tactical Officer around.  If you don't know already, the Tactical Officer oversees story creation, so you'll see my loosening my reigns severely here and Riel is going to be taking a big part in making sure that people have stories and they're moving along.  Thus, SCs and XOs need to make Riel aware of what you're up to if he doesn't ask you, even if trusts you: it doesn't hurt to keep people updated and informed.  As for how that affects my position as wing commander: it pretty much just cuts out the story-writing part, lol.  I'd still like to stop in on conversations from time to time and offer my suggestions, but 90 percent of those convos should be with Riel now; I'll be focusing quite a bit more on the academy then instead of paying quite as close of attention to individual posts. 

However, as WC, I'll continue to oversee relations within squadrons, between squadrons, and perhaps on the Navy as a whole.  That means keeping people happy and put in the positions they fit best: whether that's command positions or flight positions, we wanna make sure you can fulfill those duties, but we want you enjoying yourself, so putting people together for the best fit is going to be my business.  I think that's all I have to say at the moment besides- keep welcoming new folks!

Edit: Are we making up NPCs for the empties or leaving them blank? Also I forgot to ask when Nazgul has their meetings? Just a heads up but I work a 4 on 4 off and so for about 4 weeks I have weekends off then 4 weeks I don't but I will try my hardest to be there.

I cannot access the roster, so if anyone can pm me that info I would appreciate it.
