"What the hell is going on" said Alan, more as a statement than a question.

The squad stood in what was a giant warehouse.  Against the walls were barrels upon barrels of bacta.  Alan had never seen so much bacta before in his lifetime.  In the main area of the warehouse were machines.  Alan watched them closely and realised that they were designed for one thing and one thing only, the manufacturing of bacta.  Why the hell do they need so much bacta pondered Alan.

"Ken and Anival, you go and scout out the warehouse to our left, Vince and Verlock, the one on the right" said Alan.

"What about you Sarge?" queried Ken.

"I'm going to check this one out further.  Report back in 15 minutes, go" said Alan.

With that the Iron Horse squad leapt into action to scout out the other warehouses.  Alan was pretty sure that they would find a similar layout.  A sudden noise alerted Alan's attention and he crouched down and crawled to the location of the noise.

Peering behind a barrel of bacta, Alan watched as two soldiers loaded several barrels of bacta onto a rail cart.  He hadn't noticed the rail system until now.  He watched as the cart moved down the tracks and went through a tunnel leading underneath the building.  I wonder where that goes to queried Alan.

Alan started formulating a plan.  He needed to know where the carts went to and what was down there.  Should he destroy these factories now and escape down the rail system or should he wait to find out what was down there in case there was no other way out.

He would wait for the rest of the squad to return and find out what they had come across before reporting their findings to command and then decide on how best to proceed.

Darr gestured and the squads took up positions outside a sealed blast door. As a slicer plugged his datapad into a terminal and began feverishly typing in commands, Dante raised his weapon up to firing height and flipped the fire setting on his DC-17 to automatic.

Although the DC series had long ago gone out of production, the line of blasters had become popular in certain quarters. With a larger clip than the standard issue E-11, and significantly greater stopping power, the Clone Wars-era weapon was both reliable and deadly. Add that to the fact that their mass production during the Clone Wars ensured spare parts would never be short supply, and it would be almost inevitable that they would be favored in certain quarters, such as militias and Imperial Remnant forces.

Dante had "liberated" his DC-17 from a dead Trandoshan merc on the barren planet of Iqar II, a lawless world, where insurgents fought both Republic and the Imperial forces, and where death was an everyday event. The first time he had used the weapon, he had been astonished by its high rate of fire and its accuracy. Since that op, he had used the weapon whenever possible and the worn grip attested to its success.

There was a chime and the heavy blast doors slid open. Curses echoed from the metal walls; an enemy trooper shouted in surprise and was rewarded with concentrated fire to the chest. He fell to the ground with his chest smoking and face vlown away. Several blaster bolts flew from the open doorway and bounced off the wall panels, sending sparks flying in all directions. As an uneasy silence fell over the area, Dante almost ran for the door but caught himself and waited for a signal.

No way to tell how many hostiles are waiting for us...

There was a roar which echoed through the hallway as one of the massive enemy troopers charged out of the room, energy pulse weapon glowing a deep crimson and helmet turning left and right as it searched for targets. It scanned the hallway, not seeing the Raiders and Dragoons, and realized too late that they had gathered behind it. Dozens of blaster bolts flew into the chinks in the Barabel's armour, killing it and sending its corpse flying into a durasteel wall. As it fell to the ground with a ground-shaking thud, the squad advanced into the almost abandoned com room, and greased the luckless technicians gathered in a corner. A cup of stim-caf dropped from a nerveless grip and spilled its contents into a puddle of blood.

Without any further delay, the Raiders began to download the data. As names and diagrams flashed by on the datapad's screen, Dante shut his eyes, the first pause he had taken for what seemed to be an eternity. He couldn't help but wonder what would happen if enemy reinforcements arrived.
What if the AT-AT is destroyed or driven off? What if we're cut off from it?

None of his fears came to pass and as he floored the accelerator and the Raiders accelerated their speeder bikes away from the complex, Dante calmed down.

It's almost over.

There was a flash of light and the communications building was surrounded by a halo of light for one brief instant before vanishing in a titanic explosion which sent scrap metal and ferrocrete fragments in all directions. TIE bombers shrieked through the air and finished what the explosives had strted. As the complex began to burn, and secondary explosions sounded through the crisp, cold air, the fighters flew out of sight, bound for the VE Impstar in low orbit. In the distance, Dante could see the AT-AT slowly lumbering towards their position and he grinned.

We can get off this miserable little snowball, away from these damn fanatics, away from the predatory wildlife... The first thing I'm going to do when I'm back on Tadeth is get drunk, filthy drunk and try to persuade myself this was just a bad dream...

Out loud, he only said one thing:

"We're done."

As the Dragoons filed into a parallel building to the one that the Raiders had just entered, the AT-AT fired a few more times, annihilating another speck of resistance.  DC-15 at his shoulder, Gates charged in, blasting once, twice, at a guard reaching for his blaster.

A few technicians, including a few women, looked up in surprise, before the Dragoons started to admit some punishment with the butts of their rifles, knocking the techies away from the computers.

"Barbarians!" screamed a technician, "Bloodthristy-" that was as far as he got, as he was running across the room when Gates blew a hole right through his chest, splattering the others with guts and blood.

"Anyone else?" Gates said, raising the rifle to his shoulder.
He loved the DC-15, wonderful weapon. More powerful than the '17, longer range, but slower firing rate - no matter, it only took one shot.

"Alderaan will be repaid for!" yelled another couple of men, defiantly, and not to intelligently.

"Alderaan? That was wiped out ages ago. And no wonder, 'we're peaceful we have no weapons!' Like they were asking to die."

"Well-" the man was silenced with a rifle butt. As Tanus and Orobos sat down at the terminals, sticking data chips in and downloading and deleting at the same time, Gates walked to the door. A couple of mercs were crouched just inside the doorway, firing whenever the AT-AT wasn't looking.

He chuckled lightly, firing at the two, hitting one in the back, the other in the head. Two bloody hulks hit the ground.

"Done, Sarge!" cried Orobos as the last of the data was uploaded onto the chips.

The squad rounded up their prisoners, leading them out, towards the AT-AT. The Raiders formed up, about halfway there.

Finally outside of jamming range, Leon pinged the AT-AT.

"Objective accomplished."

"Copy, sergeant, fall back to the AT-AT and wait for evac."

A couple of TIE-bombers streaked over their heads, dropping bombs to destroy the base.

A couple of shuttles descended followed, landing and extending ramps to the waiting stormtroopers.

"Good job, guys," Leon said. "Mission accomplished."

"Beer's on me!"
