Indeed- as I've just suggested to Nazgul: don't wait on your commanders so much as as them for additional things you can do. In the meantime- the sky is the limit here folks. This place is your oyster: it lives and dies according to what you do with it. If you want it to sit back and be another squadron: it will be. However, if you want it to be remembered, if you want it to be a place and name of honor in our club: you gotta do something with it. You have to take pride in what you do and you can't stop thinking of things to do; I don't care if it's graphics or poetry or wiki work: you can do something for your fighter group. In the end, any good that comes of it is, in effect, the good you put into it. And all of that's quite fun, actually  And yes- I think I might read the series again.
