Well, whenever I'm driving and my parent forgets that i'm not supposed to be listening to the radio, I just listen to whatevers on STAR! 102.5! Or I listen to what's on my mix cd. Which mostly consists of fun sing-a-long Weird Al songs!

Of course, after I get pulled over by the cops, I switch out whatever I'm listening to and put on "The Imperial March...."

Not that I have the song, but every once in a very, very great while I'll hear the song "Long Distance Runaround"  by the band 'YES.'  It's really not much of a 'driving' song, per se, because I could find myself getting a bit annoyed by it, but it is an incredible song to listen to when looking for a parking spot.

Lately, you'd be able to find me blasting on of these CDs;

Streetlight Manifesto - Everything Goes Numb
Mad Caddies - Live Album
Or any of my Against Me! Albums
Or Any Sublime.

It's always fun to blast some real nasty punk while driving too, like some Leftover Crack, No Ca$h and Chocking Victim.

There are many more good driving beats out there, though.

Well, let's see here....

I listen to all types of music, but I listen to a lot of techno/rock in a car. If I feel really stupid and bored, then I'll put something like " Trow som D's on tha B%$#"

Imperial March whilst getting pulled over?

Hmmm...see, when I ever come in contact with a "Representative of our Nation's Law Enforcement", I tend to smile, keep my hands in the open and compliment their uniform. Blasting music? Do you want to get your ass beat to the rhythm of a soundtrack?

And I'd have never expected anyone else to heard of streetlight.

90% of my favorite music comes from more underground, less known bands.

Oh, and Ska is awesome.

Well, I don't smile, I keep my hands on the wheel, and I don't compliment the uniformed, badge-wearing criminals who hassle you over a damn busted tailight, but won't even bother to investigate when your 13 year old niece goes missing for over 24 hours and possibly abducted by a pedophile.

Guess what, Jak?!

The police serve the public, not the other way around.

And, like the Dixie Chicks, I'm not ready to make nice....

Now, back to our regularly scheduled thread.

Chip. since when is Toby Keith considered country?

I do listen to some country while driving, usually old-school stuff like Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard and CDB...also, I really don't know if they're considered country, and if anyone outside of Canada's even heard of them, but, for long-distance trips, the Cowboy Junkies are also good.

Especially "200 More Miles."

Uh, Evil? What are you talking about? Toby Keith has always been country...

Have you listened to Shooter Jennings at all? He's Waylon Jennings' son. "Fourth of July" is a good song.

Speaking of Waylon Jennings, one of the guys I landscape with was a roadie for Waylon once upon a time. He even still wears his old shirts from when they were touring.

Shooter's outstanding, one of the few new-school country singers I'll listen to.

Also good are the Dixie Chicks and Alan Jackson, amongst others.

However, Toby...his songs are hit or miss, my personal fav being "Beer For My Horses." "I'm Just Talking About Tonight" is good as well, and "I Ain't As Good As I Once Was," is kinda okay(tho I love the end of the video where the paramedic crimps Toby's IV line....).

The rest....I won't mention the "Red, White and Blue, I'm A Mindless Jingo Too," song, but "I Wanna Talk About Me," is a little on the dumb side, IMO, as are "Honkytonk U," and "A Little Too (Gay)Late."

More good driving tunes would have to be Josh Groban and 30 Seconds to Mars. And sometimes we'll be lucky and get to listen to an assortment of Bobby Darin, My Chemical Romance, or whatever music my sister has contained on that ipod of hers.

Some more good things to listen to in the car:  anthing that falls within the genres of Speedcore and Terrorcore.  600 beats per minute.

erm. . .  30 Seconds to Mars used to be good.  Now they're sucky and emo because Jared Leto is a sellout.  And I'm not even going to start about MCR.

Not all rap(or hip-hop, for that matter) is bad.

A recent addition to my personal playlist is Ludacris and Mary J. Blige's "Runaway Love."

Also good rap songs are Public Enemy's "Believe the Power," and "Shut 'Em Down," as well as Ice-T and Jello Biafra's "Shut Up! Be Happy."
