I resigned my position as TO a while back, but I believe I am once again capable of assuming the responsibilities of that position (or at least trying to ) if you'll have me.

Oh heck, never been in VENA, but I'm willing to expand. Throw me in as wanting to join in on the minion helping.

Right, so according to the above messages there seem to be 4 interested grunts in joining / sticking around the ol' place - groovy!

Now that you've shown interest in these positions let me get into a little more details however. Basically the things you'll be expected to do in other words...

1. For the most part a TO's job is an easy one and there shouldn't really be a whole lot of pressure or anything of the sorts, so don't expect your overall activity within the club to suffer as a result of it.

2. First thing you'll be expected to do as TOs is to help the newbs get acquainted with our system and then help push them along so as to quickly and efficiently assign them to either a squadron or a ship department. The more members in a story the higher the chances of it becoming more epic as a result...

3. Second thing you'll be expected to do is to help the returning vets (or perhaps the returning newbs even) get back into the saddle. I'm talking here about the refresher course. There will be clear guidelines for both this and the previous point however so again it will be mostly a simple job - just check whether each criteria is met and if so PM your recommendation to me or your future XNT and we'll get the fellow(s) back on the active roster.

4. Prove yourselves efficient and expect a greater deal of freedom and general decision making as far as the previous two points are concerned. My goal is to turn this branch into a fast and efficient one, with as little involved bureaucracy as possible - hopefully none at some point.

5. Third thing you'll need to do is check out the certs section. If there are new ones available then you really should go ahead and grade them. Today is the 18th for instance and yet there are 2 ungraded pieces in there - one from the 2nd (my own) and another from the 10th (Serpent's). I know that Fish is working with Trykon on some other projects as well and I think Joamer is busy with RL stuff too but here's the thing - if you cannot handle your few VENA duties for whatever reason... then I'd rather you not take them in the first place. There's no shame in this really and it would actually make things easier for everyone else as they'd know exactly whom they can rely on for something and whom to bug if that something isn't getting done either.

6. The fourth thing expected of you is somewhat more optional in nature - basically helping the CNT / XNT out with whatever VENA projects they ask help with. This help can imply many things: researching something, creating / editing / maintaining wiki pages, creating certain graphics (siggys, avatars, banners, logos, etc.) or even simple brainstorming sessions on various topics.

If you think you can handle this then I'd like you to confirm your original intention of joining and I'll make you proper members of VENA afterward. If you believe you may have been too hasty with your decision then no problem - just say so now and you'll be able to return to your regular duties and activities with no harm done.

Oh, just to point out - for the more ambitious of you - that pretty much all past and current members in high leadership positions had some dealings with VENA: proving themselves responsible individuals, showing they had leadership abilities and also organizational skills as well. If you're interested in such notice then a couple of programs (new or improved) regarding the division/club's operation should be amongst the easiest ways to get it...

Count me in as wanting to take the position. I will try to be as active as I can come the beginning of my fall semester. If nothing else, grading other people's stuff takes less time than writing a whole post.

True. But it's easier to read bits and pieces over the course of a day than to try to write a whole post in fragments. One just requires comprehension. The other requires more thought.

I'll echo the others' sentiments.  Sometimes, this place has an unfortunate tendency to delay recognition of meritorious contributions that build up slowly and quietly over time, but good things come to those who wait... and who are worthy.  You're certainly worth of this position, Maroy.  Keep up the great Academy work!
