Well, I've been really bored lately and all I've been doing is VE and watching the world cup and playing some soccer. So, I wanna see who everyone likes the most in the world cup, or never mind forget that. JUST TO TALK ABOUT SOCCER!!! So just start a conversation here. Italy... There really good, but I want germany or the US to win, hopefully Germany beats poland today. Spain did awesome though
against Ukraine, they whooped them 4-0. There leading in group H so they might have a shot.

Germany just beat Poland, 1-0, with the only goal scored in the 91st minute. For those of you who aren't soccer savvy, the 91st minute is extra minutes.

If the Americans win that would be a huge shocker, so much so that I doubt they will, the most likely teams to win are brazil, czech, germany, and italy. Or at least thats who I would have my money on. -----------------------

Yea your right about that, there's just one more team you forgot to add in there... Spain. Spain has a very good chance considering there the top in there group, and you never know, maybe the US will beat Italy but I doubt it. -----------------------

It gets on my nerves... really. You can't make one step here (Hamburg) without seeing a german flag one way or another.
I mean, I have no problem with soccer. But those feckin' idiots running around with our flag just because it's world cup time sucks imho. -----------------------

I used to until I tore the inside cartiledge in my right knee and damaged my MCL thanks to a dangerously high tackle that netted the player a red card. Since then, while I played my final two years in high school, I didn't play much (I was no where near as fast as I used to be and playing midfield really exposed that so I played as a sub fullback) and I haven't played since sadly. I've still been working on building up the knee and I think I may join an adult recreational league because I really do love the game.

Yea I've been off and on but now I think I'm sticking to it for good. I think I fractured my left toe though because it hurts really bad and right now I don't have any shoes, I broke my last pair and they were old. So basically I've been playing in bareffet the whole time and my feet are killing me and I can only dribble with my left foot which is pissing me off lol. Used to be on my middle school Varsity and we were 7-2. But we lost the two most imprtant games. Hopefully I can get into some club rather then play for my school.

All right I don't know if any of you saw the Argys go up against that other team but they whooped there ass!!! Yo it was 6-0 a complete massacre, and the Nederlands won against the Ivory Coast, i think it was a really close game 2-1. And i guess thats your team Art. So I think the Argintinians have a good chance of winning, and by the way i have Argentinian blood in me so that makes me a champ lol. But GO GERMANY ANY WAYS!

US tied Italy! WOW. And somehow, Ghana beat the Czech Republic by 2 goals! That shocked me. Big time. Now Italy has to beat Czech Republic and US must win against Ghana for the US to advance. Cross your fingers  -----------------------

Technically, the US is a powerhouse. They finished 5th in the world. Italy may have done better, but we had a very good chance against them. I was disappointed with the draw, especially since the only US goal was an own goal (by Italy). -----------------------

Rankings are deceiving. During qualifying and during most of the time in the four years between World Cups, the teams play in different divisions. The US plays in a grouping with Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and the rest of Central America. As a result, the only two good teams in that area (USA and Mexico) win everything and gain considerable numbers of points in FIFA's ranking system. By contrast, the European teams play in UEFA which is the European region and is the toughest regional body to play in in the world.
Given these two facts, I would argue that the rankings are indeed flawed and that Mexico is not 4th best and the US 5th best in the world. The ranking system says yes but observation of their play sounds a definite no. Just ask yourself this, how is the US ranked 5th and Germany a lowly 19th? Where you play your football between World Cups has a large impact on rankings. -----------------------

That's true. Germany is a great team and the US? Meh. About as average as Japan or some other country. Europe, I believe, is the center for the powerhouses of soccor. (Or football as they call it  ) -----------------------

Yup, I think your totally right Art. But so far it's been a really good world cup, and the most impressive performance I saw was Argentina, they dominated. Litteraly. They beat Serbia or whoever the hell that was by 6-0. It was incredile, and they say this young guy Messi is gonna be the next Maradona. -----------------------
