Money changing hands.

I am going to withhold my thoughts on this topic because I want to see others' opinions.
When you hand a cashier money, do you place the cash on the table and let them pick it up? I have seen people do this, and I'm wondering what their reasons might be. Please don't comment unless you do it. ----------------------- OO/SM Sierra "Talon" Taurus/HC-3/VEHC/VE[BC][IOC][LoC][SoS][BM][CDS][MSM][MoH]

I do it, mostly it's mental.
I plainly just don't like the fact of handing people money. I don't come around it often, so it's kind of hard to let go. I feel that if I give it to them directly, it's like giving away money.

People do it all the time to me at work, throw $20 worth of coinage on the bench beyond my reach and walk off
I do it quite often...mostly because it takes me ten minutes to find the money in the bottom of my bag.

depends on the situation
some culture here have "no skin contact" policy for the females. So some of them prefer we put it on the table to avoid any possibilities. If i forgot or didn't recognize, they usually looks reluctant or take it for the far tip of the cash.
If they are not part of that people, i'll just do the usual hand-exchange.
If they are slack-offs and bit***s, i really wish i could slap them with the money or throws the coins at them.

if the person wants my money they get to take it from my hand. Change (coins) usually goes on the counter because half the time cashiers drop it if you put it in their hands.
Of course 99% of the time I use plastic to pay for things...

I normally hand bills to people, and set coins on the counter...this is mostly because I have to dig through all my coins...I have this thing with having to pay the exact change, or as close to it as possible... ----------------------- FM/PO2/Trevor Evenson/Nazgul 3(1-3)/Wing 1/mSSD Atrus/DEF/VEN/VE/(=*A*=)

I slide the coins over the counter to the person, and bills through hands, I dont like the idea of a stranger groping around in my hand when trying to pick the damn coins up,
with the paper it wuld be more dificult to pick it up from the counter so hand it to them, ----------------------- -Dark-Dragoons-

If I'm counting it out, I'll put it on the counter, if it's just notes, or I have exact ready, I'll hand it straight to them.

I'm with JSRUSSELL on this one, I have no expenses living with my parents, I work on average 49 hours a week with a 10$ an hour pay fortunately its direct deposit so most of my money is interact, but if I pay cash its in bills, I dont keep many coins under a quarter, it just becomes a nuisance

I don't usually even count it on the counter, just in my hand. And normally they take the bills first, then I drop the coins into their hand. ----------------------- Corporal Yillis

Meh, i do both, depending on how much, if it's a small amount, mass wise, i slap it down on the counter in a hurry and get the hell out, i hate paying for things, if its alot of stuff, like a million and one coins, then droping it into thier hands, losing about half of if in the process, then i get the hell out of there, but then i usually make my little brother go in a pay, or whoevers with me, i hate paying for things, no real reason why, i just bothers me, and it's awkward, i never know how to talk to cashiers, i mean how friendly are you supposed to be? how much are you supposted to talk? should you go past hello, or ask them how they're doing? These are the things that make me lose sleep. ----------------------- {Comnet Hermit}

Snipes, here's my rules on talking with cashiers. Under normal circumstances, be nice. If they want to talk, go ahead. If not, I don't bother. If, however, the cashier happens to be a pretty girl, I try to make some fun conversation. ----------------------- SC/WO1 Chipmunk Man/Aegis 1/Phoenix/mSSD Atrus/DEF/VEN/VE/(=A=)(=SA=)(=*MA*=)[LoC][MC:1]x3[LSM][VC:B]

I set it on the table, like last night I was getting a slushie from a Kwik Trip and it cost $2.79 for two 29oz. slushies. I have my bills folded in my wallet a funny way, later I will post a pic of what my wallet looks like so you can see it better. I threw 3, one dollar bills on the counter and said have a nice day as I left. I usually don't like a lot of physical contact with people I don't know, mostly because my dad is a postal clerk and he tells me a bunch of stories of people that come into the post office and buy stuff.
Like one day he watched as a woman he knew walked in and was scratching her lip, when her hand moved down, my dad saw that she was scratching a cold sore. Then she stuck out her hand to give a handshake, of course he shook her hand but when she left he immediately took out his disinfectant spray and sprayed his hand and cleaned it.
I can understand because he got sick a lot when he wouldn't take precautions, and I do too now for the most part. ----------------------- Staff Sergeant
