Platoon Comp Story 2 (Raiders, Lancer)

TJ scanned through his notes one more time, glancing over the key points on the datapad and holoprojector. Preparation and planning were keys to the way TJ operated. He believed that skill and talent could only take a person, squad or mission so far and it was that extra knowledge, dedication and preparedness that gave one side the edge.  As such, he was full intent on having that superior side be his.

The time had come and TJ observed each troopers expression as he scanned the room.  Some remained expressionless; while others gave a puzzled look as to the Colonel's unexpected presence and still others who had been talking amongst themselves suddenly composed themselves and a hush fell over the full room.  A sense of anxiousness filled the room as every last trooper awaited the mission.  With this, TJ began:

'Raiders...Lancers...it is not often that we have two squads working co-operatively on a single mission, especially two of your caliber.  But as you can guess, this is one of those rare missions in which we are uncertain that in sending only one squad, that the required mission can be completed safely.  As a result we will be sending both of you in order to negate this factor.  On that note, I will now continue with the briefing.'  Pressing a button, the holoprojector displayed a grassy planet with several sparse forests littering its surface.

'This is the planet Stassia, a planet of rich farmland and as a result home to many peaceful creatures who would like nothing more than to live out their lives producing their crops undisturbed by conflict.  We would be more than happy to let them go about their business, but unfortunately we have been threatened and intelligence has led us here, forcing us to make an incursion to the planet's surface.  Keep in mind though, that we want to keep the harm we cause to these people to minimum and if we can avoid it entirely, that's all the better.

Onto the details of the mission: we have received word from Intelligence informing us that messages were intercepted prior to the raids on the Imperial Center's Weapons facility.  We have to reason to believe those responsible knew exactly what they were doing and exactly when to do it.  Intelligence has managed to trace feeds coming from the Stassian planet that lead us to believe another party is involved and informed the pirates of our every move.

We will be landing in one of the many forests on the planet's surface in order to remain undetected for as long as we can.  From there we will pursue a lead received from Intelligence on a small outpost several kilometers from our landing point.  There we expect to encounter a strong resistance protecting some sort of transmissions center.  It is uncertain what else may lie there so we must proceed with caution.  Primarily, we are to find out who is responsible for this operation; how they did it and shut them down by all means necessary.  That is all I have to say about this for now, go pack up.  TK and myself will be accompanying you on this mission in hopes that it runs as smoothly as possible.  We will meet you on the Dominion.  Until then...'

With that TJ shut down the holoprojector and the room dispersed.  Tidying up the room, TJ made his way back to his room to make final touches on his gear before going.

Update finished: Planet is now Stassia

Ok, sorry about this in advance.

But you are aware of the fact that we invaded and conquered Moorja in chapter 8 right?
During which time we did actually nuke the Republic.

Once the briefing was finished, Corporal Slick motioned to the Lancers.  Slowly all the squad members followed their squad leader out into the hallway.  Leaning against the wall, Slick began to rub his temples.  He felt the start of a headache coming on, and he wasn't thrilled about it.  He waited for the Raiders to leave the briefing room before he began to speak.  Slowly the Raiders marched from the room.  The Raider assistant squad leader Jakireth approached Slick, and punched him in the arm with a grin.  With a small laugh, Slick returned the grin, and punch.  The last Raider to leave the room was the squad leader Raziel.  The two squad leaders nodded to each other as comrades.  They both knew that they needed the other to survive this.  Once the Raiders had left, Slick turned back to his troops.

"Okay.  You all heard the briefing. Well, at least I hope none of you were sleeping!" he paused as a few of the troops laughed. "This isn't going to be an easy mission.  Take that from me.  This is your second combat mission, and I hate that this was thrown on you all at this time.  With everything that's going on they needed us to help.  I can be honest with you in saying that at least we're fighting alongside a good squad.  I was a Raider before I joined Lancers.  We'll do okay in this one."

He paused for a moment, and then continued, "You have combat experience now.  Trust your instincts, and be careful.  I don't want any of you trying any of that commando crap.  Let's just go in, and do the mission.  I don't want any casualties.  I want you all to come back alive, and make the Empire proud." the squad was nodding, and seemed filled with pride. Smiling to his troops Slick said, "You're dismissed.  Go get ready."

The squad headed out in different directions.  Some left in pairs of two, while others headed off alone.  Slick took off towards his room taking advantage of the time.  He took long strides down the hall, listening to the echo of his boots.  He came to his room, and opened the door.  He nearly leapt in the air when he saw Raziel sitting at his desk.  Composing himself, he strode into the room.  Moving to the bed, he sat, and looked at the Raider squad leader.

"Jesus Raz.  You just about gave me a heart attack. So what's up?" he asked.

Raz shrugged. "I thought I'd talk to you about the mission."

"Well when we first hit the woods, I was planning on splitting the squads in two.  Half to stay and pull security, while the other group goes to scout the area.  Somehow our every move has been known, and I don't want to take chances now." said Slick.

"Agreed.  So how do we want to proceed?"

The two seasoned troopers leaned over the desk as Raziel pulled his datapad.  Slowly they began to devise a plan, one that they both agreed on.  They nodded once it was finished, and Raziel took his leave to go check on his men.  Slick began to inventory his gear, and pack.  All of his equipment was in good shape, and he loaded it into his duffel.  He sat at his desk and poured himself a drink.  The bitter liquid rushed down his throat, and he grimaced.

"Raiders, I want you all in Conference Room B, down the hall. Put a kick in your step people, I need to get some things straightened out." Jakireth motioned to the door and watched everyone file out, then took his place at the rear. Sidestepping to avoid the closing door, he took a look back into the briefing area where Colonel TJ was still standing, shuffling sets of papers.

The squad was informed of the mission only a few hours ago, and the organizational skills of their platoon weren't always up to par. Things always got done, but Jakireth usually found himself half-asleep and half-dressed in his bed with a superior officer shouting new departure commands in his ear. Conveinently, it seemed to occur in the middle of the night.

Another factor playing into the confusion was the sudden combination of Raiders and Lancer squads. Jakireth was confident in his team's ability to work with other troopers, but Lancer had just had a leadership change, and undergone a major revamping of tactics. If they're up to it, things were sure to run smoothly.

"Alright team, listen up," Jakireth stated sternly before the squad, "this is our first chance at working with another group of motivated soldiers, make sure you let them know that YOU'RE capable as well."
He took a moments break to let things settle in, and Raziel nodded his head in approval. "I want to see nothing but %100 effort, cooperation, and determination. Anything less will be looked down upon greatly. There is no excuse for not bringing everything you have on a mission like this, and that is what is expected. Understood?"

The squad chirped back with a crisp notion of 'understood', and Revan walked over to open the door. Jakireth stood back and gave each trooper a comment to get the adrenaline pumping.

Raziel stopped suddenly, looking out at Raiders:
"When we get that annoucement, suit up, and get ready to go!"

After the briefing, and lancer's mini-meeting, Yillis found himself walk towards the food court. His stomach was telling him to eat, so that's what he was going to do.

After munching down a few burgers, Yillis went back to his quarters, to make sure all his gear from the mission was still ready to go. When he arrived, the gear was still as he left it, in his duffle bag by the door. Not knowing what to do next, he just started to walk around. He walked by Slick's room, and saw him drinking by himself.

"Hey Slick, that doesn't look like leadership behavior."

Slick just looked up and slid a desk in Yillis' direction, "What behavior?" The two Corporals' broke out in laughter, and Yillis took the glass.

"This is a big mission, I hear every squad is connected to this thing."

"Yeah Yillis, it's pretty big, but we can handle it."

"Never said we couldn't," Yillis said with a wink.

"You got all your stuff ready?"

"Sure do, boss."

Slick smirked, "Ok, that was a hint for you to leave."

"Hahaha, fine I'll go triple check."

"See ya later."

Vacancies in Lancer had caused a little morale drop in the squad. With only five members, the could use a coop mission with Raiders. Raiders could be considered equal with Lancer, had it not been for the vacancies.

After the meeting with Commander TJ, Garet slipped on his trainers and started a jog around the makeshift base. He passed several soldiers on the way, some he recognized as Lancer, and some he didn't recognize. He assumed these were the squad he was going to be working with. They were well composed, and looked orderly. He nodded to the group of Raiders as he passed, but kept on going without conversation.

He had circled the corridors of the base at least seven times now, and sweat had appeared around his joints. The jogging kept his stress level down, which was good, considering this was his second mission and probably the biggest one of his career. He turned the corner where Slick's office was, and stopped. Garet saw Yillis approaching so he saluted. Yillis nodded as he walked into the ofice, signaling Garet to continue.

Garet peered in as he passed, and saw the equipment Slick was preparing. Obviously he would need everything he could pack, it's a good thing too, because he was eagar to use the gear he had bought. One mission wasn't enough to satisfy him.

He took a quick shower and put his suit on. The green crescent had faded, but it was still visible. He placed all his holsters on: his DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol on his leg, the D'Sakr Dagger on his arm, the BMC-150 Bi-Polar Carbine over his shoulder, and clipping his new tear gas grenades onto his waist strap.

At this point Yillis showed up at the doorway.

"Showtime kid. Let's go."

"Yes sir."

What passed for his squad filed into the briefing room. There was only a slight hint of anxiety in the way they held themselves, that was probably because it had been three days since the initial briefing and the excitement had died down.
Three men. That is all I have to work with on this one. he thought to himself. The rest of his squad formed a line, though three people didn't really constitute a line in his mind.
"At ease," Raziel said. There was the slightest shuffle. Three men . . . "Ok guys we're ready to ship out. Now there aren't going to be many of us on this mission. There's only one way ten men can really attack an outpost and even consider success and that's to strike hard, strike fast and hope they don't have tanks. Seriously though, we're going in unsupported so it is absolutely essential that we do some recon before we plan any action. For that reason we'll be taking two load outs," Raziel was stood behind a long table, there was a bulging pile rolled up in black cloth to his left.
"First of all we'll go down with E-11's, macro binoculars, bio scanners etc. When it comes to combat, which we will initiate on our own terms! We will be acting as fire support for Lancer. The idea being we provide covering fire for Lancer to get in close, then we either close and engage at medium range, or move to a different vantage point to carry on firing. We'll be taking some big guns." With one fluid movement Raziel tugged on the baggage to his left, which unrolled across the table. An array of weapons line the length of the table. Starting from his left were several A-280's, then a pair of T-21 light repeaters, an unassembled E-web and a portable missile launcher. At the end of the line were two portable mortars.
"Right, I suggest everyone takes either a T-21 or an A-280 we're gonna want the range and firepower on this one. Keep a sidearm on you at all times though, you never know when it can get messy. Ok two people will lug the E-web around and the other two will each take a mortar, these ones are equipped with both plasma and EMP rounds. If it comes to it, only the missile launcher and EMP rounds will be any help against vehicles, even then they'll barely scratch heavy armour. Unsupported we stand little chance against heavy tanks, so we pray that the outpost has none, hence the initial recon. If we find they do have some, we'll have to find some other means to neutralise them, either fighting in unsuitable terrain, or using explosives on them when they're refuelling or inactive.
"Now you may have noticed I'm . . . well . . . not the best shot around with a rifle. So when we set up a firing location I'll be reloading the e-web and spotting targets. Yeah its not funny Revan, because my job will be to make sure you're doing your job.
"Right pick your weapons, check with me first about anything else you want to bring along. We'll be leaving in a few hours, during which time I expect you to be practising setting up the mortars and E-web or studying the terrain maps Intel provided. We'll be inserted into the system by a naval vessel, our shuttle will start off on a pre-set flight plan and then power down. The idea is to appear as a piece of space debris, we'll drop through the atmosphere like a meteor before powering up and landing within range of the base. I've put in a request for some speeders for recon, but I have no idea if they'll be granted. None of you have had speeder bike training, but some low speed bikes, maybe restricted to one hundred kay-pee-aich, would speed recon up a lot and lets us ferry equipment around.
Lets put on a good show for this one, the platoons reputation is at stake!"

----meanwhile, after lancer's mini-meeting---

Jenny, already survived two easy, but a bit difficult mission, killhouse and training mission, was prepared for this, especially since they were working with another squad, a good chance to team up with their enemies, she was especially happy to see hellra, who is in raiders and probably would want to see her, maybe.

But Jenny snapped back into reality as she made her way into the cafeteria and got herself a drink and two cheeseburgers. She quickly ate and drank and went to her room to find a letter and a medal for grand achievment in the years at the Bogtouax Academy.

She started reading it:

Dearest Sister Jenny,

I have graduated from Bogtouax Academy, I shall be joining the army shortly, but first, as a Bogtouax tradition, I must make a presentation about myself and my opinion on the school, among other things.

But I have heard that your platoon is going on another mission with another squad from a friend in the army. I hope you do good, I'm sorry that I can't be there for you but as your sister, I say good luck. As always, you'll know what to do, good luck.

Love,
Your Best Friend and Sister,
Freje Altex

She read it again to take in what Freje had said, there was no time to reply, but she knew that Freje had given her this medal for good luck, so she put on the medal around her neck and got herself ready for the coming battle.

After she put on her armor plus E-11, pistol and vibroblades, a knock came at the door.

"come in." Jenny said, wondering who could be knocking now.

"Hey," Hellra came in the door with a few boxes and replied, " I'm supposed to give you these, here."

Jenny took the boxes as her medal was seen by Hellra.

"What's that?" Hellra asked, indicating to the medal.

"My sister's, she sent me a letter saying good luck, she just graduated from Bogtouax Academy." Jenny answered as she opened the box and with amazement, said:" wow, A280 Armor-Piercing Heavy Blaster Rifle, DL-54 Automatic Blaster Pistol, 10 Tear Gas Grenades, and a TI-47 Deathwind Slugthrower Sniper Rifle, plus a belt with two holsters, wow, Slick must be passing this stuff to all of the squad."

"We're getting some of that too. by the way, it's good to work together again." Hellra replied, with a grin on her face.

"yeah, thanks, now let me put some of this stuff together." Jenny said, more happy, as she started putting together some of the weapons.

"Okay, I got to prepare too, later." Hellra said as she departed out of the room.

"later."

Jenny started on the heavy blaster rifle, something she might need if she was heavy weapons, it wasn't hard putting this stuff together, she had done it before, but she focused on the task at hand. She went from that to the sniper rifle and to the easiest, the pistol.

After putting together the weapons and other things, she put the DL-54 in the holster besides her own handmade pistol that had killed the scum that killed her parents, threw the E-11 rifle on her back and took up the heavy blaster rifle.

"Jenny, come on, we got to go." Yillis ordered as he looked confused at all her gear and said: "new gear?"

"Yeah, let's go." Jenny replied as she and Yillis walked out the door of her room.

Hellra made her way back to her barracks after stopping for awhile at Jennabelle's barracks. It was great seeing some old Lancers again. She turned sharp left at the next corridor. Before she could take another step though she felt something slam in her, knocking her to the ground almost. She went into a fit of loud coughs trying to catch her breath.

"Hell, great seeing you again!" said a male voice.

Hellra's bewildered face gazed up to an grinning Darr-Rann, one of her best mates in the army. His usually bright blue eyes were a haunting gray now. As if something was chasing him.

She will ask him later about it, confronting him now, would only lower his morale for the mission. She returned his hug before she composed her self again.

"Hi Darr, who's the girl?" asked an unfamiliar voice. Hellra looked over Darr-rann's shoulders. There stood an young trooper, Hellra estimated him to be in his late teens, early twenties. His baldhead glistened in the light. She couldn't see whether he was a natural bald, or if it was shaved. She chose the latter, but decided on asking him later.

Before either of them could answer, another voice called out. This time though it sounded familiar to her.

"Hi there Hell! Haven't seen you since that business in space."

Hellra's gazed left the trooper to a familiar face,

"Slick?" Hellra looked at Slick in awe. When she met him, he was a mere trooper, a Private First class to be exact. Now he was a the Squad Leader of the Lancers, and a Corporal.

"So that's where you went, great to be seeing you again, yeah that space drama we had with that things were quite nasty... said Hellra in agreement.

"Um, excuse me people, who is the girl?" asked the trooper who was caught up in a conversation, where he didn't even know what they were talking about.

"Oh, yeah, Garet this is Hellra, Hell this is Garet, she's in Raiders." said Darr-Rann, Hellra grasped Garet's hand firmly and shook it.

"I hope everything's fine, how is going with your new SL? I heard that TK left about the same day I did" said Hellra in hopes of starting a decent conversation.

"You were a Lancer? Didn't know that. You look to young to be in the army, you look like you could be fifteen or something"

Hellra scowled, before grinning.

"I am sixteen actually, I know we have to seventeen entering the academy, but they don't have to know my age do they, anyway, gotta go, see ya later guys"

Without waiting for a possible response from them, Hellra turned on her heel and walked away from them.

"Weird girl" noted Garet.

"Just be careful, she tends to have disasters following her" said Darr-Rann laughingly.

"I heard that Darr!" came Hellra's voise from the oposite side of the coridor. Darr-Rann went into a fit of laughter.

Hellra trudged with a quick pace over to her barracks. Being the only female in the Raiders, she got a room to herself. She slid her room's door open and gazed at the insides of her room, clothes were strewn across the room, her un-kept bed filled with equipment she used in training.

"Good, grief, how am I suppose to pack with this mess?" she asked herself outloud.

--Much later---
Hellra scratched her head before entering the room where TJ was talking with them about the weapons. She listened with half a ear, her mind dwelling on other events.

"Get your gears guys" ordered Raziel, bringing Hellra back to the room. She trudged over to the table. She hesitated when she had to choose between the T-21 or the A-280. After some careful concideration she chose the T-21.
She was excited at the possibility that they might make some use of speeders. She loved riding those.

"Okay guys, lets get going, I though we could go join the Lancers before going to the mission, get to know our fellow squads." Ordered Raziel.

Darr-Rann slipped the vibrodagger into the holster in his belt. Picking up another, he placed it in the secret slot behind his shoulder plate. He then proceeded to secure his Electostaff to his pack, which held his medical supplies, and some grenades. He finally finished by placing one of his Heavy blasters in a holster by the Vibrodagger. He then picked up the pack which held the gear given to him by Slick, his squad leader, and left the locker room.

Darr-Rann walked down the Hallway. He had a great deal on his mind, many things having happened recently. Opening the door, he entered the lounge.
"Hey Dawn. You wanted to see me?" Darr-Rann asked, setting down his stuff on a nearby table.
"I just wanted to say goodbye before you left." she said, walking up to him.
He smiled "This mission seems important. We're teamed up with the raiders, so it should be pretty interesting." Darr-Rann said, "Although if they have tanks, this is going to be one short mission..."
Darr-Rann looked at his wrist-com. "It's about time to get going, I'll talk to you when I get back okay?" He said, starting to turn to leave.
Suddenly Dawn stopped him, and when he turned to face her, She kissed him on the lips.
"For good luck." She said, smiling and walking away.
"I better get going..." He said to himself, happiness swelling up inside of him. " For the first time in a while, life doesn't seem that bad after all..." He thought to himself, setting off to join the rest of the troops.

Having no idea as to what was going on, Slick strode into the conference room.  He was surprised to see all the Raiders already there.  He walked to the middle of the room, and stood beside Raziel.  The Raider squad leader gave him a quick once over, and nodded.  Shaking his head with a small grin, Slick looked over the assembled troops.  Raziel leaned towards him, and softly spoke.

"So do you want to do the speech... or should I?"

"I'll do it Raz.  I need the practice." said Slick with a grin.

The Lancer squad leader stood, and grinned to everyone. "You all know me so I won't address myself.  The purpose of this meeting is for the two squads to meet with each other so that you can trust each other on the mission.  I'll start with Raiders.  Please stand when I call your name."

He paused for a moment. "I assume you all know Lt. Raziel.  He and I are two of the bosses on this mission.  Lance Corporal Jakireth is the Raider assistant squad leader.  Most of you know Lance Corporal Hellra as she is a former Lancer herself.  And last, but most definatly not least is private first class Revan666.  Those are the troops we will be working with."

Once the Raider introduction was done, he proceeded to introduce his own squad. "I served with all the Raiders so you all know me.  My assistant is Corporal Yillis, and my fire team leader is Lance Corporal Darr-Rann.  My other two troops are Lance Corporal Jennabelle, and Lance Corporal Garet Daimun.  We're all working together on this, and I expect you all to treat each other the same as if we were the same squad."

The two squads began to mingle with each other.  Slick himself was forced to participate as a few of the Raiders pulled him into their conversations.  He was happy for the break, and it gave him time to keep his mind off the mission.  He recieved a hand signal from Raziel, and he broke the conversations.

"AT EASE!" he yelled, and the troops quickly complied.

"I just recieved comfermation from Raziel.  The mission is now beginning.  You have five minutes to get your gear, and mount up on the ship.  I will see you there, and don't be late!  Lancers, and Raiders... you are dismissed!" he said to the assembled troops.

Jenny had already had her gear ready, so there was only the last-minute check.

After about a quick check, she went to go to the hanger where the ship was when a voice called out:

"hey, Jenny, it's me, your sister, Freje, how's it going?" Freje Altex, wearing a t-shirt and jeans said loudly as she hugged her dear sister.

"Oh my god, I thought..." Jenny said as she returned the hug, deep in thought.

"Ah, that presentation was already over and done with, I decided to do it first so I could see my dear sister," Freje replied with a happy smile on her face, now over with the hug, Freje turned to another familiar man, also in his twenties, lots of hair but looked restless, wearing their academy uniform, "Jenny, I do believe you remember your boyfriend, Henry Watkins, he and me will join the army soon but there is someone else."

Freje turned to another familiar man, also in his twenties, looking as the same as his brother, handsome, but his eyes were different from Henry's, Henry's blue, he was black, it was Henry's brother, Michael, boyfriend of Freje.

"Freje, thank you, I'm so excited for you guys, you're about to join the army with me, and Henry, it's been so long..." Jenny said, tears streaming down her face and looking really happy as she and Henry hugged and kissed.

Freje did the same her boyfriend, looking happy as well.

"Well, good luck, Jenny. We'll see you later." Freje and the others said, departing with hugs and kisses.

Jenny said her goodbye as she walked to the door of the hanger, confident and happy.

The Lancers and the Raiders sat in the lounge area of Dominion. The ship was a Victory-Class Star Destroyer, capable of transporting over two thousand troops.
"And its being used to ship two partially staffed squads." Darr-Rann thought to himself.
Darr-Rann stood at a computer screen, watching the capitol ship's travel path.
"Another mission." He thought to himself. "More combat, more death, and more vows of revenge." Darr-Rann shook his head.
"We fight the worthy fight, but so many lives are lost in the process..."
"Hey Darr, get over here and play some Sabaac with us!" Hellra called out to him from the other end of the room. Darr-Rann sighed.
"Alright, just a second." He said, shutting off the computer.
"What if one of them gets killed one day?" He thought to himself, looking at his friends. "Will I be able to save them if they need me? Will I be able to ignore the loss, and keep on fighting?"
Darr-Rann shook his head. "No. It's not my job to doubt. I just have to try my hardest to make sure that it doesn't happen." He walked over to join them in their game.

"Alright." Jakireth said as he dealt out the cards. "We playing for money or casually?"
"Casual" Darr-Rann said as he sat down. "I'm saving my money right now, and I'd rather not lose it."
"Fine with me." Hellra said.
"You fine with that Garet?" Jakireth said, looking at his hand.
"Bah, I wanted to bet, but I guess its okay with me." the trooper said, putting his hand down and taking a drink from the glass he had set in front of him.
"So, how's life back in Lancer?" Hellra asked, giving her hand back to Jakireth as the round ended.
"Well, a bit different with TK having left the squad, But Slick's a great SL." He said, looking at his new hand.
"Alright, how about this?" Jakireth said, smiling revealing his cards.
"Dammit..." Hellra said, putting her cards down on the table, Darr-Rann did the same.
"Hah!" Garet said, revealing his hand. "I win."
Jakireth sighed and took back the cards. Darr-Rann and Hellra laughed at his misfortune and he started dealing out the cards again.

He shuffled the deck expertly before handing cards out to them.
Hellra studied Darr-Rann's face while they all went back to playing again. His face was frowned in concentration. But every now and then she could see a speck of joy flicker across his eyes, as if remembering something special.

He stared myopically at his cards, Jakireth nudged him, he was the next to throw his cards out. Darr-Rann didn't respond to the nudge. Jakireth turned the nudge in a jab.
Darr-Rann fell sideways at the force it was sent, dropping his cards in the process.

"Darr, your turn, thought you lost it, thinking of someone special?" teased Garet.
Darr-Rann gave a hearty laugh before picking his cards out and resuming the game.
But Hellra noticed the faint blush that crept up his necks and spreading over his pale face.

They continued playing thought Hellra read Darr-Rann's face with much more interest then before. He was like a brother to her, and she couldn't resist being curious.

Hellra groaned looking at her hand. She was defiantly losing this round of Sabaac, suddenly a thought struck. She smirked looking at Darr-Rann.

"Um Hell, why are you smirking?" asked Garet, noticing it. Jakireth looked at her, he frowned and then scowled as if remembering something.
"Oh nothing was just thinking of something," replied Hellra innocently.

Darr-Rann looked up, he caught the mischief in Hellra's voice. He winced and the groaned when he looked at her face; she had that 'I know what's going on' look.
So, what is the plan Jak?" asked Hellra still smirking to Jakireth.
"Nothing" answered Jakireth abruptly. Hellra's face turned to a confused and curious glance.

"Care to join Slick!" called Darr-Rann out, sensing the sudden tense atmosphere that erupted. Slick stopped dead in his tracks and looked up from his datapads.
"Sorry guys, I need to revise on this new strategy---" he was interrupted by Hellra and Garet who wss pulling him on his arms to join them.

"Fine, fine, one game wouldn't hurt," he grumbled.

The time piece on the wall let out a quick, pulse-like noise, turning all attention in the area in its respective view. Jakireth was unaware of the time, since he had left immediately and planned on taking a light walk. He usually needed some tool or battery for focusing himself, and that night seemed perfect for a little stroll. Those walks took up a great deal of time though, and he wasn't aware of that until his path came to a halt, at a section in the main building's hallway.

"Aye...I did it again..." Jakireth mumbled through clenched lips. He certainly didn't have the time to wander around now, pre-departure checks on the squad, equipment, etc. All the fun stuff they neglect to tell you in the brochure you never get...

Jakireth sprinted down the corridor, dodging several other troopers as he ran. There wasn't any need for too much rushing, but he wanted to have a little extra time to wind down before they were deployed. Of course, a little exercise never killed anyone either. The labeled doors flew by as Jakireth picked up speed, and the winding passage eventually came to an end. He slowed down and took a few minutes to catch his breath, the area he just crossed was at least a full mile or so of hallway, and most people just used the automatic walkways that were spread between the buildings.

The sets of blast doors in front of him led to one of many sub-armories within the complex, and he began fumbling with his datapad as he walked over. The area was still open because of the recent need for firearm equipment, and Jakireth stepped in to do the same.

There were dozens of shelving units within the room, housing hundreds upon hundreds of destructive toys. It was a Stormtroopers paradise. Jakireth noticed a table already littered with pre-selected weapons, and made his way over. Most of the rifles had already been removed, but he was still able to grab a A-280 at the far side. He picked it up carefully and slid a power pack into its ammunition receiving port, then sighed loudly as he placed it down. It amazed him how easily that action was done now, and his length of service in the Empire never seemed apparent until now. When joining, he was sure his chances of survival were slim, and he'd become another war statistic. Of course, anything at that time didn't matter to him, and dying on his feet was the only thing that was important.

Coming back to reality, Jakireth slid on a blaster-resistant field vest in the personal items section of the room. Whoever had the task of organizing the armory was doing a good job, although Jakireth scoffed at the idea of standing, and sorting all day. His talents were in war-like activities, and a switch to anything less exciting would be a cause for depression.

Attaching a DC-15 already placed in its designated holster to his belt, Jakireth grabbed his rifle and a engineering kit he had put together earlier. His Stormtrooper shell was in the dispatch room, as was every other Raider's. The work they were involved in usually called for a narrow window of leave time, so they needed to have things ready ASAP.

Feeling satisfied he had the proper tools for the job, Jakireth left the armory with a kick in his step, jogging over to the launch pads, where the Dominion was located. He was sure the rest of the squad would be ready by now, and entered the docking pathway hastily.

Slowly nudging his way around the corner, he noticed Hellra shuffling a deck of cards on one of the wide cargo platforms near the drop-room. He took a seat across from her and smiled, saying:
"You enjoy flying?"
She grinned back, and conveinently, an officer turned the corner and informed the two of lift-off within the hour.

Several other troopers from both of the squads began congregating within the area, and a game was started.

Caught between the two troopers, Slick found he couldn't get out of playing cards. Since he had no way out, he took a seat. Well at least it gets my mind off work he thought to himself. The cards were dealt to him, and he took a look. He had to struggle not to frown. His first hand had to be one of the worst he had ever got. He stared at the cards wishing that they would change. When Darr revealed his cards, Slick had to laugh.

"What's so funny Slick?" Darr growled.

Revealing his cards, Slick grinned. "I was just happy someone got a worse hand.

The troops laughed at that, and they started to deal another hand. Before the hand could be played Raziel approached the table, and told them to mount up. The troops groaned as the cards were picked up, and everyone headed to their respective squad. They met at the ramp of the cargo ship that was taking them to the ISD Dominion. Slowly the squads moved up the ramp, and strapped themselves in. Slick climbed the ramp, and looked around.

"Well this most definitely isn't a luxury yacht." came a voice from behind him.

With a small laugh Slick turned, and faced his assistant squad leader. "I was just thinking the same Yillis."

"Knowing the Empire we probably have assigned seats, or something." said Yillis with a smile.

Laughing Slick clapped the trooper on the back. "Agreed. Let's go find a seat, and get some of that good food on the Dominion."

The two troopers quickly found seats, and strapped themselves in. As they waited for the engines to warm up, conversations broke out among the troops. When the ship finally lifted off it was full of laughter, and good spirits. I hope it lasts Slick thought to himself.

After that meeting with her sister, her own boyfriend, her sister's boyfriend, Jenny felt more ready for battle, she was a bit nervous, though Jenny tried to hide it, because she knew that death was waiting around the corner and the worst thing to do is panic.

"Relax." She told herself.

She was strapped in on the cargo ship on its way to the dominion, I wonder what it would look like.... Jenny thought as she listened to the bits of conversations from the other soldiers, suddenly she was snapped out of thought by Hellra, who commented:

"So, Jenny, you look like you just met your first love, or that you already have one, like our friend Darr here?"

"look, Hell, people's love life is kept personal, and only the most trusted ones get to know who someone's love is, now how was Sabaac, I didn't get to see the rounds, I was meeting my sister." Jenny replied smiling, look at Darr, who was turning red a bit.

"Ahh, Garet won too much, lucky for a first timer, I wasn't too hot but Jak was the one losing, he's lucky it's not a betting round, man, then Slick comes in and Darr loses, Slick saying: 'well, at least I didn't have the worse hand.' Oh heck, that was funny..." Hellra answered as she laughed up again about that little joke.

All around people were chuckling, but Slick was still keeping his silence.

"Jeez, Slick, relax, will you? We're going to be fine, yeah, we'll probably encounter tanks at the outpost, but we have the heavy equipment, we can do it ----" Yillis started to say, turning to Slick and reassuring him.

"It's not something I would just volunteer for, I mean look at the odds of completing this mission, the enemy would laugh at us right now if they knew how we have no support. Even if we capture the outpost, there is still the question of response, they will send tanks and lots of troops...." Slick said, really angry and was yelling.

Everyone stared at him in bewilderment as he stopped and went back to being silent and in thought.

"Squad Leaders, we're about to reach the Diminion for blastoff to Stassia system, hope you and your squad mates are ready." the pilot told them as both squad leaders went to brief the men and women on what has happened.

Hellra leaned her head back. She closed her eyes. What was with the laughingm and talking like a idiot? She never did that, or cracked such jokes, hell she barely laughed at jokes.
She felt a gentle rumble purring around her, vibrating in response to the ship engines being activated.

Around her laughter erupted, she gazed up instinctively at the source. Jennabelle was still reliving Slick's joke. Garet and Yillis were arguing over some bet, but their voices didn't raise, indicating it was a friendly argument.  Slick who forgot about his previous sabaac game was sitting in silence, his eyes narrowed in concentration, trying to come up with last minute strategies.

Jakireth were sitting on his respective seat, eyes closed, as if he was asleep. Raziel sat also with his eyes closed, his arms folded across his chest. He seemed calm yet ready.

Hellra shifted her gaze to Darr-Rann. He kept wringing his hands, glancing ever so often at the window that coincidentally had a direct view of the academy.

The engine's rumbling was about to reach its climax before blasting off. Silence fell over the room, and the levels of nervousness intensified. The climax was broken with the engine suddenly losing its ferocious purr. Curses of annoyance and surprise broke out.

Raziel and Slick stormed towards the cockpits, while Hellra sighed, she hated it when tensity were building, and then broken at the climax. Hellra loosened the safety belts securing her to her seat. She moved over to Darr-Rann, he had an empty seat. Hellra opened her mouth to say something to him, but were interrupted by Slick abd Raziel stepping back in the room, accompanied another two passengers.

The engins started firing up again, this time with more intensity.
"Guys, we have another two Raiders joining our ranks" said Raziel with a tint of pride in his voice.
Hellra guessed that it must have been a gloomy sight to have only four Raiders in the squad.

"Welcome back to Napleon, and---"
"Shardeth!" exclaimed Hellra out surprised when she saw the bothan nodding in her direction.
"You know each other?" asked Slick slightly surprised.
"Yeah, I met him on the Academy grounds, when I went swooping, he was crash landed at that time, I recruited him to join us" explained Hellra.

"Talking about swoopers, Raz could we get some speeder bikes for the mission?" asked Jakireth.

"Talk later, strap in, we are lifting off," warned Darr-Rann as he looked for one final time through the window, a small smile on his lips. Hellra shook her head at him before strapping her self in as well.

Seconds later Hellra felt the ship give a slight lurch as it lifted up. Defying all laws of gravity it excited the planet's atmosphere in a matter of minutes.

Jakireth leaned over the headrest postitioned near the craft's pilot, arms folded and his eyes scanning the nearly infinite amount of instruments lining the area that was the Dominion control bridge. He took a moment to appreciate the extensive training that the Imperial pilots receive, considering the size of the ship, and the knowledge needed to control something so powerful. Despite every confidence in himself, Jakireth knew that he wouldn't know how to operate a seat warmer on something like this.

"We need to depart as soon as possible..." Raziel mumbled impatiently, and Jakireth mearly nodded back in agreement.

The pilot turned into Raziel's line of sight, and if it not been for the tinted visor covering his face, Jakireth was sure he was rolling his eyes. It may have seemed annoying, but they had a schedule to follow. If badgering the only person capable of ensuring a liftoff would help, they had no problem doing so.

Acknowledging the remark, the pilot flipped a communications switch on his flight panel, cocked his head towards the two soldiers, and spoke lightly into the receiver:
"Tadath flight control station..." he stopped abruptly for a moment, as if remembering which tower to address, "...12. Dominion ready for dispatch, alert when cleared."

Immediately, the speaker spat back a few seconds of white noise, and a voice became clear:
"Dominion, your flight path has been approved, docking clamps are now being released, fire thrusters."

Sighing heavily, the pilot nodded his head, and switched relays on his ComPanel. His link was now tied into the ship's speakers, and he cleared his throat before clearly stating his message.

"Staff, prepare passenger areas for takeoff. Engaging engines..."

The entire ship shook violently, and the two soldiers nearly knocked into each other in an attempt to anchor themselves.

Jakireth grabbed Raziel by the shoulder and grinned. "Maybe we should be taking our seats now Raz."

They both stumbled out of the cockpit in an unbalanced series of movement, falling into their respective seats. The Dominion wasn't necesarily built with comfort in mind, but the moderate sized room where the passengers were kept was set up nicely. The black seats were bolted to the floor panels in an organized fashion, and Jakireth looked over the troopers situated behind him. Many had dozed off, a few in a dazed state, and the others sat with their muscles tense, focusing themselves.

Slick and Raziel were at the opposite end of the area talking feverishly, and Jakireth removed the datapad attached to the seat in front of him.
Just as he found himself adjusting to the new surroundings, a message played loudly over the intercom system:

"All commanders - squad level and above - should report to the shuttle bay, the hangar is now being prepped for seperate mission launches. The appropriate sector will be reached within the half hour, all squads should be ready to go before that period."

Hearing the announcement Slick gave a small curse. He quickly told his troops to hold here as he, and Raziel took off to the hanger. They exited the room, and headed in the appropriate direction. The two troopers passed by several empty rooms, and wondered where everyone was at. The closer they came to the hanger the more people they seemed to encounter. Many would stop, and offer their best wishes for the upcoming mission. After about the fifth time that happened Raziel growled low in his throat.

"Does everyone know about this mission?" he asked to no one in particular.

Laughing Slick looked over at him. "If their not supposed to then of course they do. Info always gets loose. That's one of the reasons we're here, remember?"

"If one more person stops to wish us good luck, I think I'm going to hit them."

Slick clapped him on the shoulder. "No you won't."

As they came to the hanger doors a sixth man stopped in front of them, and offered his hand. With a glare that would freeze lava, Raziel gripped his hand. The man winced under the pressure, and Slick suppressed a grin. The man offered his hand to Slick, and he took it with a smile.

"I just wanted to offer you the best of luck on your mission." said the man as he turned away.

Grabbing Raziel as he raised a fist, Slick steered them into the hanger. They entered, and an Imperial officer approached them. They all exchanged nods, and he pointed them to their shuttle. The two squad leaders looked it over, and nodded.

The officer glanced at them. "Your squads have been told to meet here in ten minutes. Colonel TJ, and senior sergeant TK will be joining you here. They wanted to talk to you, before the squads got here. Ah here they are now."

TJ, and TK approached the two squad leaders. The four of them went over a few different strategies, and finally came up with a game plan. Just as they finished the squads began to enter the hanger. Feeling that old excitement come over him, Slick grinned at Raziel.

"It's game time." he said with a wink.

The lamba shuttle awaited, it's wings still up as it always was, though Jenny thought it would be down and ready for a quick departure.

"Well, we depart here, I'll see you guys later." TK and TJ said, departing out of the hanger and back to the Dominion.

As they walked into the ship and got to their seats, Jenny started saying, walking around:

"hey, where are the escape pods in case---"

"Jenny, it'll all go fine, trust me, now sit down." Raziel replied orderly, with a slight grin, as Jenny sat down next to Hell.

When everyone was there and sitting, the pilot started the usual filght departure procedure, but that was hard to listen in all the chatter that the two squads were in, it was about the new members, Darr was in particular interest, also next to Hell, he asked hopefully:

"So, Hell, you know Shardeth?"

"Yeah, we're friends, we were just near the academy, you know." Hell commented as Darr tried to keep a straight face and reply:

"Yeah, we were, now are we getting speeders, Raz?"

"I don't know, but we may be getting a storm skimmer patrol sled, we could or we couldn't, we'll know soon." Raz answered as best as he could, then the conversation stopped as the shuttle lifted off.

"Seat Belts, guys, we're about to go lightspeed." the pilot ordered in a convient fashion.

Everyone put on their seat belts as a sudden lurch came and went in a sec, they had arrived at the destination.

"We're here, now we get to the tricky part, the landing, hope those rebels down there are idiots, 'cause if they aren't, we'll have tanks ready when we come to that outpost." Slick said in his most calmed voice as he ordered his troops to get ready, Raz did the same.

"Here we go." Jenny muttered as the ship entered the powering down and was nearing the planet, Stassia.

"Dominion, this is squad shuttle one, acknowledge coordinates for LZ."

The ship's drop commander raised an eyebrow at the silence following his message. His facial expression was covered with signs of impatience, and Jakireth grimaced as the commander's fist tightened, expecting a blow to one of the communication instruments. Flying was never a fun experience by itself, and if someone attempts to disable your only link to anyone outside your little prison with wings, paranoia tends to set in.

"Dispatch flight one, landing zone has been verified. Proceed to initialize final arrival procedures when ready. Notify when drop has been made."

Sighing of relief, Jakireth felt the pressure on his muscles loosen, and noticed the recent signs of anger disappear from the commander's body.

It amazed him how quickly their leave from the Dominion occured, and the way the squads reacted. Many of the troopers had little show of emotion. While this can be a good thing facing a battle situation, a soldier without heart can be dangerous. Realizing this, Jakireth forced a smile and got to his feet, almost toppling over onto Corporal Slick.

"We're approaching the target, ready-up."

Slowly moving down the isle of the cabin, Jakireth gave words of praise to several troopers, trying to lighten their spirits.
'Not to mention,' he thought, 'even if they are ready to shoot up some natives, they might be just as terrified of flying as I am...'

Imagining that, Jakireth let out a good laugh. Conveinently, he was staring at an empty wall section of the passenger area, and a large amount of soldiers turned in his direction to figure out why. That must be comforting; thinking someone with authority on a mission like this is loosing his mind...
Jakireth turned around and nodded lightly, grinning at his audience. As he was about to make an explanation for the strange behavior, the pilot's strong voice boomed over the speaker system, demanding attention:
"Planetary entry cleared, estimated time until LZ is reached is about two minutes, prepare for planetbound departure."

Raziel stood up - for the first time since they left the Dominion - raised his hand, and pointed at the rear hatch. Clearing his throat and feeling all eyes fall upon his, the Lieutenant addressed the group:
"Alright troopers, we're nearing our destination. After we land, we'll survey the area and decide on a gameplan for our movements away from our primary drop. After that, follow the objectives you were previously briefed with. Let's make it back it one piece; good luck."

Jakireth nodded his head in agreement, and patted Raziel on the shoulder as he made his way to the back of the shuttle.
Leaning against the ship's interior, Jakireth felt the shuttle's nose tilt forward, signaling the operation of landing thrusters.

Noticing the hasty approach of the drop commander, the rear cargo hatch slid open with a terrible clash, and Jakireth was able to get his bearing on the situation: they were about nine feet above the ground, and the terrain seemed a tad rough for a landing zone.

The ship slowly moved towards the ground, and the cabin filled with the sudden awakening of anxious soldiers. Preparing to usher them out, the commander took his place at the edge of the opening where the solid durasteel panel lay moments ago.

"Alright, let's move, move, over here, I want to see you guys for our recon briefing, we're going to discuss our game plan." Slick ordered loudly as Jenny and the others moved to a place near the edge of the forest a bit away from the shuttle.

Slick and Raz discussed a bit about the pairs, then Raz turned to the two squads and said:

"Well, as you all are aware, we are standing near the forest where the rebels have hid their outpost from us, whether our little landing worked or not, we don't know, but we'll soon, now, as you can see, we were successful ----- A excited Hell said: "Yes, oh sorry!" ----- in getting 2 sleds and 4 speeders, all thanks to our guys at the Corps, now these forests aren't that thick, so the sled will be able to get through these trees without much trouble, the problem is making sure that the enemy doesn't spot us during these encounters, although they may already know, but anyway, here are the teams, Slick?"

"Yes, well," Slick snapped out of thought and explained the pairs, "Since this might be a bit uneven, we have to have a team of 3s, and that team will be Jenny, Revan, and Darr, now the other..."

the teams were paired, Jenny, Revan, and Darr watched as Hell and Shardeth joined together, grasping hands together as though they had a bond, Garet and Napleon, both looking nervous, but still nodding towards each other, the assistant squad leaders paired also noted each other with a nod, the two squad leaders paired, though, we're caught in a tight, but friendly, embrace.

As the two squad leaders let go of their embrace, they discussed the plans of who should scout what. After a while, Slick did the honor and announced:

"Well, we've decided, Jenny's team, yes, Jenny, your team, and Hell's team will be up on one of our sleds, since we don't have that many scout vehicles, you guys will scout with Yillis and Jak, who will take the other sled on the western and southern parts of these forests, Garet, Napleon, you two and us will be on the speeders to explore the rest of the forest, I expect everyone make sure that all important points are to be marked on a map that me and Raz will hand out in a moment, and here's Raz to hand out the map."

"Right, here are the maps," Raz replied, handing out maps as he continued: "well, also, make sure to keep in radio contact and keep an update on your situation, any enemy contact should be dealt quickly, they could know we are already here or be suspicious about a piece of space debris coming out of nowhere, try to shoot the radiomen first, they can keep in contact with the leaders, we have got to keep the tanks off our back until we may get some support."

"We're not sure of that though, Raz." Jenny suggested, and the rest of the her team and the other teams agreed.

"Jenny, we're not sure of anything, but we have to hope that we'll get some support, now gather your things, get some binoculars and goggles here," Raz points to some recon equipment laid out and ready for them to use, "the binoculars are very good for sighting tanks and other things, the goggles are in case we need to scout at night, also, both of those will have different vision modes, including night vision, heat vision, inferred vision, etc., and also don't forget to make sure you haven't left anything on the shuttle, and let's move out!"

okay, let's do this, Jenny thought as she went to grab her goggles and binoculars plus some for her team and Hell's.

Wait."

Jennabelle stopped as Slick spoke the word.  Looking around the forest Slick pondered for a bit.  He glanced over at Raziel, and the older trooper shrugged.  Turning Slick quickly faced the squads.  He looked them over as if sizing them up.  Then he grinned.

"Change of plans. We're going to have four teams.  This is a woodland environment, and I want us to work together.  So each team will have Lancers and Raiders.  This is a days work for the infantry, but we won't have our full advantage until we reach the buildings.  Here are the teams." said Slick with a grin.

"Team one is composed of Raziel, Garet, and Shardeth.  Team two is myself, Napleon, and Yillis.  Team three is Jakireth, Hellra, and Jennabelle. The fourth team will be Darr, and Revan.  Everyone got it?  Good."

Once Slick was finished, Raziel stepped forward with a glint in his eye.  Everyone knew the man was a stone cold killer on the inside, and it showed through now.  It had surprised the squads when he gave Slick a hug earlier, but it was no hug.  Raziel had nearly broken the Lancer squad leaders spine.  Looking at all the troops gathered around Raziel gave a cold smile.

"My team, and Slick will remain here and pull security.  Jakireth, and Darr will take their teams in a fifty meter radius in the surrounding area.  If you find hostiles, note their position, but do not engage.  Report back to us, and then we will find the best way to approach.  Alright.  Let's get to it." said Raziel.

The groups broke apart, and went to their respective tasks.  Slick positioned his troops in different areas.  As Jakireth, and Darr took their teams into the woods, Slick crouched behind a tree.  He kept his E-11/L pointed into the woods, and his eyes were alert.  Let's see anything come this way he said to himself with a silent laugh.

Raziel watched after the two scouting groups as they headed off on foot. Before they had left TJ had reminded them all that this was a neutral planet and there could be civilians around. The likely hood was that the locals didn't even know about whatever installation it was, hidden deep in the forest. He checked his map again, the signal had been picked up by a lone recon craft as it did a pass in the sector. Unfortunately it's receiver only had a minimum resolution of a few kilometers so on his map was a three click wide 'blur' indicating the approximate position of the outpost. That meant they were roughly fifty clicks out from their destination. Whilst that wasn't much of a march for a battle hardened infantry squad, they were packing a great deal of weaponry, hence the sleds and speeders.
Come morning they would pack up the equipment and move to a position only five clicks from the outpost. From there they would set up another base camp and start another line of offensive scouting. If all went well they would strike tomorrow night.

Raziel left the map and headed for their bags of gear. He unceremoniously emptied out several bags on the floor and kicked open a few boxes.
"Right, job one: Get that lambda shuttle camouflages, anyone within a mile'll see it. He indicated a pile of green flecked netting. Job two: get some defences up, I want bioscanners set up at regular intervals all around camp and calibrated against local wildlife. I want most directions towards the camp cut off, or at least impeded, tie bushes and plant life together, set traps and don't forget to radio the scouting teams to let them know which way to come back. Lastly," he said hefting up what looked like a large suitcase. "I want three remote turrets set up around the base, they should already be calibrated to ignore local wildlife, but make sure anyway! Right, get moving!"

Darr-Rann and Revan sat in the patrol sled at high altitude, searching the area for anything of importance.
"There's the target..." Darr-Rann said, looking through his Electrobinoculars. Revan nodded in acknowledgment.
"They've got tanks alright... I can see about ten, and I bet there's a few more of them too, out of our sight." he continued.
"I guess that rules out barging in the front door." Revan said, turning his head to sweep the nearby area. "Umm... Wait..."
"Darr-Rann, look over there." he said, pointing over at an area nearby.
Darr-Rann turned to look at the area Revan was talking about. a short distance away, a small structure was hardly visible in the dense forests.
Darr-Rann activated his Wrist-Com.
"This is Lifesaver, over."
"Alright, Darr, this is Slick, what do you got?" His squad leader's voice.
"The place has some tanks around the main building, but Revan has spotted a structure that may be an alternative entrance. We're going to land a short distance away and check it out on foot."
"Okay, just don't engage anyone." Slick said.
"Okay, This is lifesaver, out."

Once they had checked the area around the structure, they landed a distance away from the structure.
"Alright, lets get moving Revan." Darr-Rann said, setting off towards the area.
As they walked through the forest, Revan and Darr-Rann talked in low voices.
"So, Revan, what is your specialty?" Darr-Rann enquired, ducking under a large branch.
"I'm a heavy weapons specialist." Revan replied, turning to face him. "What about you?"
"Medic." Darr-Rann replied, pausing to adjust his pack.
"Cool." He said, "There aren't many of those in the Vast Empire."
"I know it's a real shame." Darr-Rann replied.
They continued to work their way through the forest.

"This is Lifesaver, over." Darr-Rann spoke into his wrist-com.
"This is Slick, did you find out more?" the squad leader enquired.
"Yeah, the structure is protected by a few guys, nothing serious in the way of weapons. I really don't think they expected anyone to find it."
"Does it connect to the main building?" Slick asked.
"Yeah, it kind of slants down into a ditch. it seems to run to the main structure."
"Good. Finish your patrol and report back."
"Alright, Lifesaver out."
Darr-Rann turned to Revan.
"Let's get moving." He said, turning around and walking back towards their sled.

Hellra copied Jakireth, fast yet cautious placed steps. She felt exposed, their white storm trooper armour standing out from a mile away.

"Guys, wait up!" called Jennabelle out. Jakireth and Hellra stopped abruptly at Jennabelle's request. They needed to stick together.
"You guys are quite fast" said Jennabelle from under her helmet, when she reached them, small gasps escaped her mouth trying to catch her breath. Jakireth rolled his while Hellra stopped her self from snickering.

"Having Raziel as a squad leader, requires us to be in top shape. He drives us to this shape" said Jakireth proudly.
"And I do extra training with Darr-Rann " added Hellra,
"That explains it" muttered Jennabelle. Jakireth ignored the comment as he bought his binoculars to his eyes and scanned the rest of the area.

After a while he equipped it back at his side, and continued his long strides through the trees.
A small and soft, yet high pitched sound, alerted Hellra to her radar. She immediately inspected the source of disturbance.

A small gasp sounded from her. Jakireth and Jennabelle looked at her alarmed. Hellra silently motioned them towards her as she crouched down on her legs.

Together the gazed for a small amount of time at her radar. Two unidentified objects were trudging not far from them, about twenty meters away.

"What do we do?" asked Jennabelle towards Jakireth.
"Investigate it o'course" chipped Hellra in.
"And if it is a rebel?" she asked again.
This time Hellra didn't chip in before Jakireth could answer.
"If we don't kill them we take them back to base. Jenny, you and I will assault them, while Hellra will stay hidden, to shoot them if necessary" ordered Jakireth.

Hellra paled at the prospect. She may have killed people before, counting her time as rebel. But it was something she couldn't do easily.

"Roger" answered Jennabelle setting her rifle from stun to blast, Jakireth doing the same to his pistols, ass his rifle was already set to blast.

Hellra checked her waist for her electrowhip, even though she wasn't part of Lancer squad, and being a close combat trooper, she still kept it with her. But this would be the first time she might use it in real combat.

In silence they trudged silently towards the designated targets, about ten meters away from the they changed their trudge towards a stalk-like pace. Jennabelle bought her rifle towards her shoulders, while Hellra clambered up a small tree. Jakireth got his pistols ready. The objects were rebels indeed,

"DROP YOUR WEAPONS, HANDS ON YOUR HEADS!" he shouted out forcefully. They spun around to face with Jakireth, obvious surprise showing on their faces. Jennabelle sprinted to their back, while Jakireth kept stepping around, giving them no chance to focus a target on him, if they decided to prove them selves foolish and tried to shoot him.

Hellra's eyes narrowed, her fingers touching the trigger, she knew both of them. The one on the right towards Jennabelle's side, he was the dangerous one between those to, he showed no remorse towards his victims. His name was Jeck, if she was correct, while the other one who was much bigger in size was Jaun.

What are they doing here!?

"I SAID DROP YOUR WEAPONS!" yelled Jakireth again, his fingers curled around the triggers, screaming to pull. His eyes were fixes solely on them.  Hellra's heart tightened, her breath stopped. In frustration she grabbed her helmet and took it off. In those few split seconds she used to free her self of her head gear that the smaller one of the rebels; Jeck took the chance of trying to escape.

Hellra didn't notice it till he was shooting past her under the tree. She bought her rifle up reflexively and aimed. Not hesitating for a second she pulled the trigger, before dropping to the ground.

Jeck screamed in pain, as the blast ripped through his upper arm but he kept running. Hellra shot him again though aiming at his legs in order to bring him down alive. Her shot proved to be successful as he slumped towards the ground.  Hellra fastened her helmet again. It was foolish to take it off.

Jakireth jabbed the remaining rebel in the back nudging him to walk to where Hellra stood.
"Hell just shoot the guy, we can take this one in, he seems much more tame then that one" called Jakireth out. Jennabelle walked behind them just in case the rebel tried something.

"W-what?" stuttered Hellra caught off guard. As if sensing Hellra's fear of killing the rebel Jakireth sighed.
"Hell, you cant have mercy for your enemies, cause they don't have for you" Jakireth aimed his one pistol at Jeck's head and pulled the trigger.

"Nearly finished with the traps boss. We'll have them up in a few more minutes." said Yillis with a grin.

Slick nodded, and turned back to the forest. He was scanning the area, but it seemed like everything was okay. He half turned, and glanced at Raziel, who shrugged. When his com beeped Slick answered it. Darr was reporting again, and he and Revan were heading back to base. Smiling Slick began to answer.

"Come on back Lifesaver. You've done your job. Let's get some chow in the two of you, and let you re----." he stopped speaking abruptly.

Blaster shots rang out in the quiet forest, and within seconds return fire came. A shrill scream of pain echoed throughout the forest, and strange birds burst into the air. With his eyes widening in horror, Slick ran to Raziel's side. Raziel was glaring into the forest, his face flushed in anger. The two glanced at each other, as the rest of the squads joined them.

"Damn-it!" snarled Slick.

"Who disobeyed my order? This is going to become ugly." spat Raziel.

"Lifesaver? Status?" said Slick into his com.

Seconds ticked by, and then Darr's voice came through. "This is Lifesaver. What the hell was that? Has the camp been attacked?"

"Negative, but it will be soon. They know we're here." As if on cue alarms began to wail in the distance. "Lovely. Lifesaver hold your position. We have to abandon the camp, and get out of here." said Slick quickly.

"Orders confirmed. Lifesaver out."

Raziel turned to the men. "Grab everything you can. We have to get out of here, and fast. Troops, and tanks are going to be combing this area. Now move!"

As everyone scrambled to get what they could, Slick paused for a moment. He turned and made eye-contact with Raziel. Dawning appeared in both of their eyes. At the same instant they turned, and looked at the shuttle.

"Oh hell." muttered Slick.
