everybody, i have a deep question that i would like you to answer...
why the heck is swomz allways attacked for whatever swomz posts on the comnet? i almost never see a post from swomz and i have only seen swomz once on IRC. did swomz do something so atrocious before i joined that merits that swomz be ridiculed and made felt unwelcome on the comnet?

I've gone through a far worse hell than you have Swomz. Be strong man. I say forgive and forget, don't hold grudges. But then again, some people never change. And it's not always the persacuted. Hopefully, some of you would have it in your hearts to not be like your predesecors and discourage those who made mistakes.
Knowing you did wrong is far worse than what people can do on a message board. So how about some one gives him a break on the other end. It's alot easier to persecute than to forgive. Don't be the ass.
I'll leave it at that. Shame on those who think otherwise.

You don't understand. I don't speak for this one person. Swomz isn't our main concern. I didn't want to bring it up, but the people I talk to don't enjoy the VE because of our attitude. Did it ever occur to you guys that no matter how much stuff you guys get, improvements and what not... You may not succede. I thought this was an unspoken theory... Obviously not...
Swomz can do whatever the hell he wants... I don't give a damn. I beleive everyone deserves a second chance. But insulting others in IRC is all too common. And don't you dare try to tell me I'm incorrect.
I shouldn't have to bring this up. But the amounts of insults flooding around on comnet and IRC are unexusable. Who's fault is it... I'm not to judge... Not my problem. But if you guys really want to help your division. Fix your attitudes. I've let it go on long enough. I have no power to enforce it... So maybe the point will get across I thought. I thought maybe the Ops would do something to prevent the problems. Nothing.
Competions are great... Storys are fun... But that won't do us any good if we keep this crap up.
Like I said before. You should be ashamed if you think other wise. You can be an ass to Swomz all you want. You just make yourselves look like fools. Good luck. -----------------------

Shazam, the only one looking like a fool here is you. I know you mean well, but without a lot of the backstory, you are bereft of data and jumping into a situation with a lot of history you are disregarding. Please do not make yourself a target of anyone's ire without first knowing the situation.
Believe me when I say that very rarely was Swomz was model member of this club. Most of the time he was either attempting to hijack the chain of command, starting incidents with other members, or just plain trying to disrupt the ways things ran here.
You may be wondering whether any of this vehemence is justified. In my eyes, it is. In fact, I didn't even know most of these people had an active distaste for the guy.
When you have pissed off the HC and been booted out of both divisions because of your actions and still come back to pester people who really, seriously do not want to hear from you again, this means you have soured relations to the point of anger.
It may be petty and bad form for a club that tries to rise above political backstabbing, but if one person can cause this much emotional response, he probably does not qualify for a lot of mercy. And definitely very little respect.
Maybe some attitude adjustment is necessary. But not for this guy. He's done all the damage needed to qualify as persona non grata to most of our membership.

Right. I understand that. I managed to change. But I don't talk about Swomz in general. But you have to admit, the amount of insults was crazy. I wouldn't stand back and let it go on.
Also, I was trying to get the point across that I don't give a damn about Swomz if he's doin that stuff. He can go his own way. But I was suggesting we use this as a lesson. An example if you will. People are not being treated fairly, kindly... Whatever... And I'm not talking about this sexist crap... I'm talking about ordinary netiquette in general. I wouldn't stand on the side and let some one be taken like Swomz was. I don't understand what he's doing. I don't care. He's your problem. But the overall curing of our activity is. The fact that you only *noted* that we need to work on our judgement and such is wrong.
If need be, I would section off, and post about this. Big post. I certainly shouldn't be the one reporting this.
I think something needs to be changed. I have no proof of the terrors or problems some of these members face. I couldn't begin to list them... But maybe someone should. These people who get badgered and annoyed... Ruthlesly sttacked on IRC and Comnet... Don't do anything. They let it happen. And I certainly don't want to report every thing I see wrong. That's not my job. But I wanna help. And my aim is right. I mean quite well. And I knew quite a bit about swomz in the first place. I had planned worst against you guys in the first place.
I once told the3Djedi... I won't do this... don't worry... That I was ganna write up about a 1 page essay on how much this club sucks... Post it on every room about a hundred times... And then go on mIRC and wail on you guys because it wouldn't matter to me any more... The point was to really tick someone off... Particularly my enimies... I'm a bit wiser now... And maybe people don't let me into leadership because I have an overuse of power. Who knows.

Solution: If someone doesn't like how thier being treated they can leave.
Any other point previous to the past year or so in my life I'd be right there with Shazam making an ass out of myself.
Why aren't I now?
Simple I'm tired of fighting, especially when no one listens.
I've been here a long time and actually don't plan on going anywhere as long as I'm having fun.
I decided a long time ago I'd stop taking everything so seriously. I may not be the most successfull person in the world right now but you know what? I'm still chugging away contributing my two cents.
I'm not always right and I'm not always wrong either.
Truth be told I find the VE to be a bit pretentous, yet I still stick around.
What does that matter? Not much.
Most of what I do anymore is write fanfiction and I don't do that a whole lot.
If the VE falls apart it won't be my fault. I've warned people when I've seen familiar bad cycles that I know will end in the same result even if it takes a bit longer. I've tried fighting to effect some changes to try and prevent these problems. I've tried poking holes in ideas to get people to think them through a bit more.
In the end how much have I gained?
Others may actually be better suited to answer that question.
Yes I know I'm ranting again and I'll probably be ignored again, but try and take this one last piece of advice:
Either take decisive action to fix a problem or don't bother. It's easier to prevent a problem then to fix one. -----------------------

So, here's MY problem:
1. Nearly everyone either complaining or counterpointing this discussion has been labelled a detriment to this club; myself included on many occasions.
2. I try to pick my fights to defend those who contribute activity to this club. I also try to limit whatever hazing I see going on when I am actually in the channel to see it. This has some special conditions. I really, really do not want to see any sexist berating of anyone, nor see a bunch of people get into a cussing spree. Otherwise, if you are active and playing by the rules, expect some defense from me if I am around. Everyone else can have their own opinion on that.
3. A lot of our problems come from people trying to force changes on the club, especially those who belong to other clubs and think it is fun to wreak some anarchy over this way. The TRIC comes to mind here.
4. Pretentious might actually be a good word to explain a lot of this. We are actually acting like a club with three times as many members as we have. We also have been on the defensive from people with no interest in helping us for a long time too. Some of the things you are fighting (and maybe you are drawing too many parallels) are a result of bad blood all around. It isn't fair to the new members and that's a fact.
Anyway, I'm more worried about the lack of activity than of social graces. If I see a problem I will attempt to address it. If I appear to be purposely avoiding a problem, pop me a message on it. (No, this does not apply to people who slander me, delete my email, or basically dislike me on general purposes.) -----------------------

I remember the cussing incident and I have to agree that was completely bad form and most everyone involved should have known better.
Most of my fighting was done after the IW was forced to dissolve due to inactivity. Most of that fighting was done to try and keep the VE from following the same path as the IW. What has saved the VE from following along the exact same lines in the same amount of time is that there are more people who care about being a part of the VE then there were in the IW. Despite that the VE is still following a rather similar path. While no exactly the same it is still something I reckognize and am fairly certain will end in the same fate if we only ever try to fix problems rather then prevent them.
I can't say I've been anything other than human.
We can debate this and maybe even get into a fight over it but in the end nothing will get resolved.
The only option really is to just keep doing what we've proven works.
The VEN has tried listing out it's problems and all that sparked was a couple weeks long debate where nothing changed by the end.
What am I arguing for?
