allright, a few from you got a email about a virus. DONT DELETE THAT FILE. ITS A HOAX !

Yes ive recieved that message 7 times in the last 4 months
it is defnitely a hoax, the file isnt system vital but u still shouldnt delete it
there is a much worse virus out there
it has u got a virtual card title
if u open it it freezes and ctrl-alt-del deletes your entire hard drive
So dont open any virtual cards even if u know the sender -----------------------

I could be wrong on this, but I think those two files came with my computer.
Anyway, I scanned both of them individually and they had no viruses. -----------------------

here's a few tips for the people who don't know: don't open up emails in outlook! don't use outlook! it transfers viruses easily. So does outlook express. Get a good program that suits your needs but will not allow you to open .js or .vbs files from it. Or, you could just change the file associations with thouse to extensions to open up in notepad. Just a few suggestions from the Drill Squad leader with a paintball gun  -----------------------

I use Outlook, and it works fine for me. You just have to be smarter than the machine.  -----------------------

But Liquid does have a point - Outlook hurts a lot of people because it just opens the e-mails and attatchments up right off the get go.
Web-based e-mail comes through with yet another clear cut advantage.

Mine doesn't automatically open. I saw it as a problem and I found a way to fix it. Amazing what looking through the options can do. ;P -----------------------

yes, outlook is a very good programm when you are able to use it right, no email opens automatichly, no attachments, i must still do that by myself. -----------------------

I'd recieved it from a close friend who, yes isn't very educated in computers, but I figured that coming from such close a friend it was real, and from not recieving it in the past, or hearing about it, didn't know that it was a hoax. Sorry to those I sent it to and who didn't know about it either, deleting the file because they thought it to be real. -----------------------

I would like to refer back to the first post... people with good intentions may pass on emails.. before you delete anything you should check the main site to be sure you are in the clear... and of course scanning works. On another note yes we know that outlook does have problems, for that matter a lot of the email programs are bad... maybe not as bad as outlook, but heck it is a MS product... you should expect problems ;o) just be safe.. no reason you cant take an extra min to scan something before opening it... and before you pass on the virus warning make sure it is legit ;o) and while we are talking about passing things on NO you can not save a life, get a free coke, MnM's, car, or $$$ from forwarding emails... there is no tracker embedded in these emails to make sure you get sent your money, and hotmail/aol/whatnot will not ask you to forward the email to make sure your account is not deleted.. So dont pass those on either ;o) go look at http://www.urbanlegends.com/ulz/ for the latest scams prior to forwarding anything :o)
