“Yes?” Liquid answered as he stepped into the interrogation room of Gui Sun Paan.

“We’ve been expecting you,” shot back Paan, surveying the young pilot.

“Well, I’m here sir, sorry about the delay, I was perfecting my new moves in my Tie.” Liquid said, thinking quickly, he really didn’t want to let them know he was out getting drunk with JMac.

“We know where you’ve been, and don’t worry, you’ll get your just desserts for that later,” answered back Spartacus, the guy who let him into the DJO.

Sithspit Liquid muttered underneath his breath. I should’ve known better.

“Anyway, let’s get down to business, shall we?” Paan said as Liquid noticed the lightsabre that dangled from his waist. “We shall require to know more about your past if you intend to serve in the DJO. Could you tell us anything?”

“Well, I can try,” Liquid started out, thinking hard as he remembered his past. “I always had a hard life, my father was a pirate, and he left my mother when I was but a young boy to join a band of my relatives, which had recently purchased a freighter and a few illegal X-Wings. I was about 7 years old when this had happened, and I hated my father because of it. All I thought about for the next several years was how to get my revenge. I started studying various melee combat techniques, and I started getting really good with throwing knives. And pretty soon I didn’t even have to think before I threw one, by the time I was 14, I was the most feared kid in school, nobody liked me, and none of my teachers felts any respect for me, I was failing most of my classes, and my mother wasn’t happy with the performance. So I ran away from home, I knew I shouldn’t have, considering my mother was very ill, but I just couldn’t put up with anymore of her stuff, so I left.”

“Go on,” said Paan.

“Then at age 16, I joined up with a bunch of guys and went around gambling, I became a pretty good poolshark, and that’s how I made most of my money. Somehow, whenever I got angry because I kept losing, I won easier, I could never explain that, until now,” said Liquid, shifting in his chair.

“I see,” said Spartacus, nodding along with Paan.

Liquid kept going, “I got into my first bar brawl at age 17, I was the only one that walked out, I don’t even know why I killed all of them, I just couldn’t control myself, it’s like the anger took consumed me. After I walked out of there, battered and broken, I joined up with another group of what can only be described as thugs, we went from town to town, roughing people up and taking their credits. It wasn’t all that bad, it was kind of a win-win situation, I got to hurt people, and I got money while doing it. I was happy for a short while. I felt myself slipping from my hardened state when I started seeing this girl, who’s name I’m sure you both know by now. That was the best 2 years of my life, we got married, and almost had a kid, but it was a miscarriage, and she was heartbroken. One day as we were flying to the hospital to get her monthly checkup, an X-Wing glanced across and nearly killed us both, I was the only one in the car that survived, I held her in my arms, screaming with anger, and knew immediately what I must do. I ran to the nearest town, nobody would help me, nobody believed a guy that looks like he’s gonna kill you, now do they? I then went into the local junk dealer, and purchased a star fighter, I became a drifter for a while, going from star system to star system, searching for the guy who shot me down and destroyed my happiness. Over those few years, I felt my anger increase, and I also began to have new feelings, I felt things in my mind before they happened, this became extremely noticeable in a bar fight that was started behind me. These 2 big guys behind me had been playing cards, and both were clearly cheating, I didn’t say anything because it wasn’t any of my business. I just went along, drinking my correllian ale, and talking to the women as they entered and exited the bar. The bigger of the two stood up, and I somehow felt his anger, I didn’t pay it much attention though, as most of the time I could feel stuff before I actually saw it. I ducked suddenly, and a chair hit the mirror in front of me. I wondered how this could have happened, but didn’t have any time to react, as the big guy was already breathing down my neck, making me angrier. I was just trying to enjoy a nice cold ale, and this guy was ruining the whole thing, so in one swift motion, I pulled a knife from my holster and shoved it in his throat, the guy gasped as he fell to the ground. I just turned around and ordered another ale, I thought maybe this one wouldn’t be interrupted. I suddenly felt a presence around me, I turned around, and his friend was standing there, obviously he was a little irritated because of what happened to his friend. I had no time to act as he picked me up and threw me across the room, I turned around in midair, and as I was landing, the dagger hit home, the big guy slumped to the ground as blood squirted from his temple. I walked over, grabbed my dagger, wiped it off, and headed out the door. By this time, I had some people following me, wanting some sort of revenge or something I presumed, by this time though, I knew that I was no longer wanted here, so I went back to my ship and kicked it into hyperdrive, setting the course for Coruscant where I had a few friends that owed me some money, instead, I ended up coming out of hyperdrive early due to an unplanned interruption…I accidentally spilled some coffee on my controls. I knew that this was a bad thing because of the weird colored smoke that was pouring out of my instrumentation panels. I landed on a planet in the Vectra system, one of the VE’s spheres of influence. I then joined the Vast Empire. Where I became a Tie pilot, originally I was in Venom squadron, but my superiors felt I was Elite Squadron material, so I was put in Aegis, where I met my buddy JMac.”

“Interesting,” said Paan, thinking about the young man’s past.

“I went swiftly through the ranks as you know, and I now hold the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class, which isn’t all that good, but I’m working on improving that, during my enlisted time, I have earned my pay, and I have been very active. I also have passed my Aviator’s certificate test, along with my Senior Aviators exam, as stated in my ID line. I also engineered the Elite Aegis Squadron website, which currently holds the site of the week award. That’s pretty much it,” stated Liquid, glad that this encounter was over with.

“Well, if that’s it, you may report back to duty Liquid,” Paan said, motioning to the door.

Liquid stood up and walked out the door, he felt he had done pretty good. Liquid knew his past, and it was an ugly one, he wasn’t looking for any sympathy though. Liquid felt that sympathy showed weakness, therefore he never showed any.
