I see some of you have already noticed the changes to the Roster, but just to make it official, I hereby announce the new roster for Tuk'ata, post-Out-of-the-Invisible:

Aurek Flight - led by SCO Wager, with the second element led by returning veteran Fyston
A-1 : Squadron Commander : Warrant Officer 1st Class Wager
A-2 : Flight Member : Leading Crewman Dawn
A-3 : Flight Member : Petty Officer 1st Class Fyston
A-4 : Flight Member : Senior Crewman Ryuno

Besh Flight - led by Hades, with the second element led by Scral
B-1 : Flight Leader : Chief Petty Officer Hades
B-2 : Flight Member : Petty Officer 2nd Class DarianRogue
B-3 : Flight Member : Petty Officer 1st Class Scral
B-4 : Flight Member : Senior Crewman Eli13778

Cresh Flight - led by SXO Ryn, with the second element led by Maroy
C-1 : Squadron Exec Officer : Chief Petty Officer Ryn
C-2 : Flight Member : Senior Crewman Jaz
C-3 : Flight Member : Master Chief Petty Officer Maroy
C-4 : Flight Member : OPEN FOR NEW RECRUIT

Please note that the new line-up incorporates a concept that hasn't been used very much lately in the starfighter corps, but which is fundamental, IC: flight elements.  Elements are pairs of fighters (teams of two wingmen), and the NHC would like to see more use of these relationships, both in-story and on a meta-level.  In story, your closest relationship - whether a positive or a negative one - is probably going to be your wingman, so you should explore those relationships as you write together.  Out of character, stressing the 3 position of each flight as an "Element Leader" gives more opportunities for you all to experiment with authority in relationships, and with leadership.

One final thing: the squadron is being moved to the Halcyon Warrior, commanded by Drac, and will still be part of DeepSix's Wing.  There you should see combat much more often than on the Atrus.

Congratulations to the new SXO, Flight leader, and Element Leaders.  I can't wait to see what the re-formed Tuk'ata does!

Thank you, Lieutenant Trykon sir.

A query though - the task forces do not correspond. DeepSix's 58th figher wing 'Javelin' is specifically placed in Task Force Aurek, while the Halcyon Warrior is in Task Force Besh. Are we in Aurek or Besh?

I'll have Fy jump in right before the bar fight starts/right as it's starting. There's a way I want to go about his return that hinges on a slight air of mystery. Most of them won't know him (Deep will, of course) but I imagine it as them just being happy to have such a large pilot to help their fight.

Hades, in answer to your question: you'll be in the same Task Force as the Halcyon Warrior, which should be Besh... StOrMz will be updating the roster fully tonight.  My bad, for the confusion... I'm still rubbish at updating the roster.

No problem Hades, I didn't see anything in your post from Hades' point of view that was completely off with my plans. If I did you would have a PM waiting for you begging for a revision

If you feel like there is more you want to add to your post given the new information go for it, but don't feel that its required. Keep it in mind for when we are in the bar though

Come on, Tuk'ata! I know everyone's busy (Or just slacking off, which I severely hope is not the case /me hefts his blaster ) but Ryn and I are the only ones who have responded to the squadron story by DeepSix, and I am the only one who has responded to the earlier squadron story by our - for the most part - in absentia Commanding Officer.

I am so far disappoint, Tuk'ata.

EDIT: Besh Flight, I'd like to see your reports if you please. If I do it, you do it. Even if our SCO is absent. <_<

Speaking of Reports I think there are a few things that need to be reminded as the roster has changed.

Reports should go to your Flight Leader, SXO, and our SCO. Your flight leader is the person in your flight with the -1 next to their designation.

So Aurek flight should send reports to Wager and Ryn.
Besh flight should send reports to Hades, Wager and Ryn
and Cresh flight should send reports to Ryn and Wager.

Hades and I have to get reports on our flight to Wager and Deepsix so we would appreciate if all of you could get reports in before midnight EST on Friday.

Remember the report format is here: http://www.vastempire.com/wiki/Flight_Member_Reporting_Template

Please give us some idea of what is preventing you guys from posting, I'd like a report from everyone who is actually here even if you are suffering from Severe Writers Blockage Disorder.

Thank you.

(if any of this is wrong please PM me and I will edit it, I would prefer we begin the advise in private praise in public policy)

Do the ejection seats on TIE Interceptors have parachutes? I'm under the impression that they do not.

Star Wars ejection systems rely on repulsorlifts mounted to the bottom of the ejection seat, not something as crude as a parachute. C'mon, we're all high tech and stuff here.

Well its for my Trust Fall post. The 'wingmate' can't eject in the atmosphere with no chute on the ejection seat. So in that case the chute wouldn't be a bad idea.

Eli, the chute would be unnecessary. what Drac said is correct, each seat would have repulsor tech installed to keep you from going splat. The chutes would be redundant and outdated (not to mention somewhat dangerous). If you wonder how they are Dangerous, see: enemies see you as you SLOWLY descend, trees, tied up in chute string, and failure of the chute to launch. I'm sure there's more but you hopefully get the point.

Chutes... whatever will you people think of next?

But that aside here are a few short messages of utmost importance:

1. AWOL check - you've all got till next week (let's say next week's meeting - regardless of whether it takes place or not) to post here stating that you are in fact still alive and kicking... or punching... or biting... or scratching... or just glaring... glaring very, very fiercely...

2. Reports - miss one and you get a friendly warning. Miss two and you get a not so friendly warning. Miss the third and you get demoted one rank. Miss the fourth and you get booted from the roster, meaning you need to retake the Academy's courses upon return to get back to active duty. The numbers will only reset after four consecutive reports, so if you fail to report once, then manage it the next week, then fail again the week after, then manage again for two weeks, then yet again fail - you still get demoted one rank.

3. Ideas for the current story - the immediate future is for the most part set and according to previous feedback you all seem content with what will happen so I'm now talking about the things you'd like to see towards the end of this story. Best liked idea gets implemented now, second best will be used at a later time, anything else - well, we'll see if/when they'll get a chance.

4, Booze - I'm always looking for more. You know, just figured I'd mention it again for no particular good reason

I'm still going for the barfight.

And a question on reports: If you go on leave say on Tuesday and you come back on another Tuesday, and you submit your post on Friday like a good little grunt, does your post include just that current week, or also the part of the week you missed?

Leave (when properly taken) always had and in all likelihood always will override most if not all responsibilities expected of a member, including reports. In other words no one's expecting anyone to report when they're supposedly away doing whatever it is that they need or want to do instead. Just how going on leave frees a member from the burden () of reporting in each week, so too coming back from leave does not erase any of the previous failures to do so before it.

@Eli: Frankly the cut off is up to you. I traditionally consider anything I do between my reports valid for that report. In the end everything will be reported and I don't think there's anyone here that's that anal to care if you screw up your post count by an hour. Well except Deep he's anal about everything, but booze usually works to get him to chillax

The purpose of Reports is to make sure that you are active and that we busy people know all the places you were active. For example: I may know that you posted on the story but I didn't know you updated your wiki or did PPC (does anyone even do that anymore), or that you were on IRC and I def couldn't know that you have an awesome story idea, or graphic of our uniforms, etc etc.

These are all good reasons to report, so WHERE ARE MY REPORTS PEOPLE!

I had this strange tingling feeling, as if someone summoned me here...

Ooh, uniform graphics - generally speaking they would need to be fairly bland and boring, much like all Imperial designed things, but a bit of customization might work. Any suggestions? And more importantly any takers provided we do end up getting suggestions and enough votes?

Eli, a few things about your post - you may have noticed that I generally do not comment on the personal items a member mentions in his/hers posts, similar to how I did not comment on Hades' personal fighter in his own post before yours. That said I believe there are a few distinct issues in this post that warrants a change.

For starters military grade fighters aren't cheap, not to mention illegal (most if not all the time) to own outside the military. Owing such hardware typically either implies a lot of creds... or some great contacts in some very deep places. If it's the former and you're flaunting that around, then why would you settle for a fairly insignificant job as a pilot? And if it's the latter how do you expect such ships to go unnoticed just parked on a huge Star Destroyer?

That's actually another thing that's not really plausible - the fact that a simple pilot would be allowed to bring his personal transportation means aboard, thus taking up needed space in the process. Most SDs can hold a maximum of 72 active fighters, a few shuttles and gunboats and a few more broken down ships in the process of being repaired so space could technically be found... it's just that it's most unlikely for this limited space to be found and provided to a lowly pilot. Captains, XOs, visiting Moffs, civilian VIPs - those would have a much better chance at pulling that off.

It's not just the space they'd end up taking but the fact that they'd apparently be worked on by VE personnel too. Granted that pilot - mechanic relationships can occasionally run fairly deep, and granted the latter can sometimes end up doing various jobs for the former that may lack certain official papers that would've otherwise been needed... but that implies either some sort of debs repayment, a large bribe or previous knowledge of the fellow in question. Almost all such relationships also tend to grow over time rather than just develop over the course of a few weeks from scratch.

Lastly - the ship configurations themselves sort of stand out no matter how one would try looking at them. They seem for lack of a better word... quite bloody overpowered. For starters each ship initially has a reactor that can provide only a finite amount of power. To get more one would typically need a new reactor, but ones yielding more power tend to also be larger as well. That wouldn't necessarily be a problem in a starship, where cargo space or crew quarters could maybe be sacrificed to add the extra gear, but starfighters are really small and compact to start with.

Personally I agree an Interceptor could be improved with a hyperdrive, a tinkered engine and a few extra missiles at the cost of some redundant systems for instance. I also agree an Oppressor could be outfitted with stronger engines so as to somewhat lessen its greatest drawback. I even agree an Avenger could likely boast a few extra upgrades taken from the Defender but from here to turning one into the latter, only lacking any of its disadvantages such as the size for instance... well I don't quite agree with that part anymore.

Like I said, there's only so much power a tiny ship can produce, and giving it an extra shield generator, ion cannons and solar cannons - that would take a heck of a lot of energy. Not to mention the fact that the latter weapon system is quite rare, having only been mentioned twice in canon.

In light of all these and seeing how this is an official story I would ask that you at least remove the mentioned upgrades from your post.

Also a suggestion on the matter - feel free to improve such crafts in your personal stories but do so without giving the impression that you're forcing these upgrades, either because of their rarity, their complexity or the sheer amount of them. A ship that has been customized to work better than the stock model can be fun and interesting to write and read... one that ends up outperforming anything known from canon - not as much.

Fixed almost everything you mentioned.

Now I really need to finish that CD story about my run-in with the Tenloss guys.

When you strike your opponent do not bruise or even bloody them. Hit them so hard you take away their capacity to fight back.

@Dawn: If you go to ve.com/main and on the left click on "preferences" scroll down to the bottom and you will have the option to "link accounts". Choose that and you will be able to switch between your two accounts by clicking a button that will appear on your toolbar from then on.

Everyone else:

I have updated the squadron wiki. Something that I've done before that helped everyone write together was to have everybody put a short blurb about your character on our squadron wiki. Basically have one place to reference everyone's current physical status (for example Ryn has a brace on her arm) and mental status (for example Ryn has had better days).
