Sam left the conference room with the rest of the squad leaders. He pulled out his data pad and sent an alert to all of the Dark Dragoons to meet in the Dark Dragoons' quarters of the VSD Dominion for the briefing.

The ship was massive and it took a little longer to get where one was going. Sam forced himself to walk briskly to make it to the Dark Dragoons' quarters with in a timely manner. As he progressed through the long hallways, there were troopers and officers scurrying about going this way and that. Anyone not knowing exactly what they were doing or where they were going could easily be scooped up into the rush and get lost.

It took the squad leader roughly five minutes to make it to the living quarters. He paused and relaxed himself a bit prior to entering the door. As he moved in there were six troopers sitting on bunks and chatting. One noticed that their squad leader had entered and snapped to attention.

"There is no need for that with me, Private," Sam said sending the trooper a quick salute, "Alright everyone gather 'round for some info."

The Dragoons rearranged themselves to be facing their squad leader and Zafo took a seat next to Sam as he prepared for the briefing.

"Our orders are to take care of some communications on the planet of Abregado-rae. We need to start off by identifying potential enemy forces when we land and we need to identify potential allies. By order of the Prefect of the Army, we are to give all credit to civilians and should we work with them, they need to be allowed to be 'Glory Hogs,' the Zabrak began, "We will be escorted planet side in civilian crafts.  Are there any questions?"

A hand shot into the air. Urakai began to speak, "Sir, what does it look like we will be up against while we are down there?"

"From what our intelligence says is that the opposing forces are well-equipped, highly motivated, and confident in their abilities to fend off attacks. Along with this, we are told that they are expected to stand and fight against, surround, and wait for reinforcements to mop up Imperial forces. They don't like Thrawn or us, which makes our armor a force multiplier against us. Anything else?"

"Yes, when are we expected to leave?" said Zafo.

"We are due to leave within the next few hours. So get your gear ready and meet up in the hangar. From there we will be transported to a nearby space station and moved on to a civilian craft. If there is nothing else you are dismissed."

[OOC: You guys can post about gathering gear, having a quick drink, moving to the hangar. Once everyone is there we will set off for the planet.]

Alater hopped down from his bunk were he had been sharpening his two favorite knives. Their cruel wicked blades were made for seperate purposes, but both the same: Death. The first he earned after his first Hunt and was made for quick deaths by slitting the throat, and the second made to slip easily inbetween the ribcages of humanoid creatures. With a practiced movement he applied the oil made from melted down animal parts and herbs and slid the blades into their sheathes.

Restlesness was a well known symptom to every soldier, but Alater felt especially uncomfortable. The giant ship he was inside was all metal, hard floors that did not sit well with his claws, low ceilings that made his height almost unbearable, and a list of other things, above all being that his species did not travel in space much, and it always made him uncomfortable.

In order to pass the time Alater spent the majority of his time in the gym. With these 'weights' Alater could change 'digitaly' how much the bar weighed and adjust it for his strength. He had been following the same schedule for almost half a year now, slowly working his strength up. When he wasn't to be found in the gym lifting weights or running Alater was in his barracks fidgeting with this gun or that gun, making a grenade or repairing another, but never stopping.

On the rare occasion he visited the computer center to catch up on the status of the universe and the war. Many things like the average size of a Smuggler freighter interested him, and he kept avid tabs on the Hutt controlled Smugglers and Mercenaries. Rage still burned inside for what they had done to his family, but one day that revenge would be payed in full, but there were other things to do.

Alater's datapad vibrated and beeped at him twice signaling a new message. He took it off its clip on his belt and checked the message, and saw it was from Sam, and he was to report to Hangar 17BK with the rest of the squad to make final preparations for the mission.

Orobos got up from the bunk and walked over to get his gear, once again banging his head on the pipe that Crossed the ceiling. He'd had his armour modified as the military didn't stock uniforms
to fit his build. He wore two gauntlets, a large front armour plate and shoulder pads with the Vast Empire insignia on it. He wore a sort of small spyglass that covered one of his eyes that gave him the enhancements that the helmet visor usually gave. He also wore the utility belt with a re-breather on it just in case. He got the rest of his gear ready. He took out the sling for his vibro axe. He picked up his axe and balanced it in the palm of his hand and smiled. It gave him a comforting feeling knowing he had it with him.

Once he was done he thought he would go to get a drink and maybe have a quick bite to eat while there. He stepped out the door and suddenly realised that he didn't know where the bar was. It only took him twenty minutes to find it though. It was easy to get through the crowd as he could see over all there heads easily. Once there he ordered a large glass of Whyren's Reserve. There were three people down the other end of the bar who kept glancing at him over their drinks. He got up and walked over to a table farther away from them. There was something strange about them, they didn't seem to be the same as everyone else. One got up and walked toward him. He tensed and balled his hand into a fist. He sat down in front of him and looked around shiftily. Then he said in a low voice "Hey... you wanna buy some Ryll spice?" Orobos looked at him shocked. He hadn't expected anyone in the VE to be selling drugs, though now that he looked at them properly there uniforms were just grey tunics with the VE logo stitched on them though at first glance they seemed real. He stood up and the man got up as well. He motioned to his friends and they left quickly. The bar tender looked over at Orobos and said "Hope your not causing any trouble in my bar?" Orobos finished his drink and left to get back to his quarters.

Tanus walked out of the Dark Dragoons meeting room, hands in his pockets and a smirk on his face. This was the first mission that he would be on with the Dark Dragoons, and he wasn't about to go unprepared. He got to his room and opened the door, revealing a rather unappealing chest of drawers and a military issue cot that was murder on Tanus' back. Tanus opened up as small pack that he brought along with him that contained one of his favorite weapons, his DC-15s blaster pistol. From the corner he pulled out a Ryyk Blade, complete with sheath. On his bed, he laid out his standard Stormtrooper armor and began to put it in his bag. The whole affair took less than 15 minutes, from the body suit to the armor plates. When that was done, he put his DC-15s in a holster on his belt and slid the Ryyk Blade into its sheath across his back vertically. From his closet, he grabbed a dark gray cloak and brought it with him to the gym.

Tanus, by principal, didn't drink and rarely socialized, so going to the bar was a waste of time. Instead, he went to the gym to practice a little bit of his Baguazhang before the mission started. Tanus looked down at his chrono to see how long he had. An hour, he thought. Plenty of time. Tanus' favorite aspect of the training centers on any Vast Empire craft were that they were tiered for multiple different exercises. Tanus always went to the same one, however, which was the second tier. Tanus went to his normal spot, which was his Eight Trigrams circle. Tanus set down his gear, took off his boots, and stepped up to the circle's edge.

Tanus began to slowly circle around the edge, executing forms with deadly precision. After about ten minutes of various kicks and joint strikes, Tanus begin to speed up, feeling his ki gates open up. The more relaxed he became, the faster he moved, to the point where was almost a blur, moving around the circle with such speed that it was nearly impossible to keep track of his moves. As he spun, the forms grew more and more powerful, eventually going into his greatest style, Plum Flower. His palms flew forward in a dazzling display, blurs of pure power extending from Tanus' body.

After a while, he sunk into the Cheng and Yin styles, becoming more graceful and beautiful to be seen. After one solid hour of this, Tanus gathered his gear and went to the washroom to cool off his body. As Tanus came back to his gear, his datapad went off, indicating it was time to meet in the hangar. Tanus grabbed his gear, along with his armor, and proceeded down to the hangar.

In the past couple of months, the improvement of Zafo's mental state was nothing short of incredible. The doctors believed he would have to take the medication consistently for many years for any real healing to be done. However, despite his excellent progress, it was unsure if he would ever be completely cured. Because no risks could be taken with his condition, the medication was, and probably always would be, mandatory.

The condition improvements translated into career improvements within the Vast Empire. Zafo now found himself bearing the rank of Sergeant First Class. Perhaps even more significant was his re-instatement to a position of power within the Dark Dragoons as Assistant Squad Leader. The massive campaign that was about to begin was the "cherry on top", so to speak.

"How d'you feel about the mission?" Inquired the Zabrak seated beside Zafo as the rest of the squad filed out of the briefing room. The two had been squadmates since their days as Privates. Every mission of their careers had been shared.

"I feel good about it," Replied Zafo, "though I do admit, I am skeptical about wearing our stormie gear if all it's going to cause us is trouble. I've never been the hugest fan of the suits."

"If you don't like the suits, go join the New Republic." Sam retorted with a laugh. "Though I do see your point..."

With a shrug Zafo rose and turned towards the door. "I'm going to get my stuff ready, you know where you'll be able to find me afterwards."

The relative silence was shattered as Zafo merged his way into the hallways of the VSD Dominion. The many Vast Empire personnel rushed about; all focused on reaching their destinations. Luckily, it was not long before Zafo reached the privacy of his lodging quarters. The majority of his belongings were still sitting in boxes on the floor of his new condo back on Tadath, but all his combat devices were stored neatly in what had been his "home" for the past week or so.

Zafo organized the usual set-up of equipment. He prepped his E-11 Marksman edition and gold-plated pistol. He strapped a couple of grenades to his utility belt and took out some of his pieces of clothing that had their "little secrets". Getting his things together had become relatively simple since he discovered his preferred set-up.

Once he was done, Zafo took a glance at the time.

"Just as I hoped. Zafo thought, when he saw there was still quite a while before the Dragoons were to be shipped off.

Zafo made his way into the bustling corridors once again, with only one destination in mind: the bar.

When Zafo reached the bar, he noticed a familiar figure was waiting for him: Rizzit. Zafo couldn't help but wonder why he was there and DRINKING no less. Zafo was half curious and half surprised to see his Company Commander sitting in his spot in the bar. Part of him wanted to tell him to move, but the other part of him was again, curious. With the curious part of him winning, Zafo went upto Rizzit.

"Um...Rizz?" Zafo asked, unsure of what he was going to say.

"Yeah Zafo? What's wrong: surprised to see me?"

"In a manner of speaking, yes."

Rizzit gave Zafo an almost evil-like stare that made Zafo turn away cause he couldn't stand being stared at anymore. Rizzit just laughed.

"Relax Zaf, I'm here to see Sam. Fury gave me the go-ahead to tag along with you guys. So be prepapred to lose to me in Sabaac "

"Good to hear sir."

Rizzit was taken aback. The word sir stung in his side like an Acklay attacking with it's legs.

"Ouch. That hurts Zafo. We've known each other for a long time...I thought we moved past those old formalities."

"Sorry Rizz, old habits and all...."

"Well, any idea on where I can find Sam?" Rizzit said as he stood up. "Needed a drink before the mission. Do me a favor and don't tell him yet, he hasn't found out yet."

After all the others had left, Sam stood up and headed to his quarters to pack up his gear. Right after he entered he headed to his weapons chest. He kicked the lid open and kneeled down to rummage through his weapons. He pulled out his dual DC-15s blaster pistols. He placed them to the side with the holsters along with his E-11 rifle. The Zabrak stood up and shut his weapons case. He headed to his armor locker and pulled out his basic storm trooper armor. Rather than placing it along with his weapons he put it into a large duffle bag with the rest of his civilian clothes. Just before Sam shut his locker he tossed a long black trench coat onto the duffle bag.

He waltzed over to the chair near his bed and took a seat and leaned back. This was his time to take a moment and prepare mentally for the upcoming mission. As he settled and began to think about potential ways the mission could go, he began to doze a bit.

                                  * * *
It was raining outside in the alley behind the large cantina. Sam was squared off with a large twi'lek, who was pulling out a rather small pistol. The Zabrak gave out a chuckle at the sight and pulled out his hold-out blaster. The twi'lek fired striking Sam in the shoulder. Sam returned fire and planted a shot in the big twi'lek's fat head. The twi'lek fell to the floor with a squish and a thud.
                                  * * *

Sam jerked himself awake. He rubbed his face, stretched, and headed out of his quarters to the bar. When he entered the corridor the wall of sound of everyday work startled him. He was slammed back into the universe from his own. He passed a dining commons and a few other living quarters before he finally made it to the bar.

The Zabrak entered the bar and took a seat at the bar without taking a look around to see if he knew anyone. He ordered his drink and began to relax. Moments later, someone came up behind him and poked him in the shoulder.

"Hey Sam. I've got some news for you," said a voice.

Sam swiveled around to see Rizzit standing behind him, "Oh yeah?"

Rizzit proceeded to tell Sam all there was to tell about his request to join up with the Dragoons for this mission being approved and how he made Zafo a bit uneasy at the bar. The Zabrak just stood there and laughed.

"I hope this doesn't mean you're running the show" Sam said teasingly.

"Nah, you're still in charge. I may offer suggestions, but I won't be running your squad in most respects. There still is a Chain of Command to be followed, and if Fury passes orders down through me, you'll be carrying them out."

Just wonderful....in charge without really being in charge. Sam thought to himself.

"Oh and one more thing" Rizzit said all serious-like.

"Yeah?"

"I don't answer to maggot." Rizzit said with a grin.

Sam got a laugh out of that one, and pretty much all his worries about who was in charge were gone. Sam informed Rizzit that they still had an hour or so before they left, but Rizzit decided to head for the ship and get on board anyways. He badly needed a rest.

Tanus walked towards the bar with his Ryyk Blade strapped to his back and his DC-15s in its holster at his side. When Tanus bought the Ryyk Blade, he brought straight to the Weapon Smith in his barracks to make it lighter. It took some time, but eventually, they cut the weight down to barely five kilograms and added a hand guard, making it the perfect substitute for a Bagua Broadsword.

As Tanus walked into the bar, he saw his Squad Leader, Sam, talking with the platoon commander, Rizzit. Hmmm, something must be up if Rizzit is down here right before a mission... Tanus thought to himself. The bartender, a scruff Aqualish, came walking over.

"What'll ye have?" he asked in a grizzled voice.

"Get me Tarisian Ale, on the rocks," Tanus said.

Tanus sat back and turned, watching as all of the troops walked around and out of the cantina. Tanus continued his sweep of the area, noticing some people playing sabbacc, while others played pazaak to pass the time. Tanus turned as the barkeep brought him his drink. Tanus sipped on the cool, amber liquid, feeling a slight burn as it went down. "Damn, this stuff is strong..." Tanus said to himself. Tanus continued on with his drink as his ASL, Zafo, took a seat next to him.

"Hey there, kid. How're you liking the new squad?"

"Tanus put his drink down. "I'm loving it. Feels like I'm gonna stay here for a long time."

That brought a smile to Zafo's face. "That's good to hear."

Zafo took a sip of his drink and held it in front of his face.

"You ready for the mission?"

Tanus nodded. "Yeah, I have everything I need, right here." Tanus pointed to his back, duffel and pistol.

"Heh, good to hear it."

After Rizzit left, Sam returned to his drink with the thought of Rizzit joining the Dragoons on their mission. This put a small amount of pressure on Sam to make sure that the squad was taking their 'A game.' In fact, Sam was hardly certain as to what the squad's best really was. This was his first mission with this bunch of troopers with the exception of Zafo, who had been there the same amount of time as he had.

Sam downed his last bit of alcohol, paid the bartender, and headed out the door. Before he actually made it out of the door he passed by Tanus and Zafo. He reminded them that they had about forty-five minutes before report time in the hangar. The two nodded confirmation and the Zabrak headed out the door.

Sam headed back to his quarters to gather his gear up. He felt it better to leave it in his room rather than come somewhat heavily armed into the bar, especially after his short dream of a past mission that had him in a bar. He rubbed his left shoulder as he walked down the corridor, the same shoulder that took the shot. Although there was the noise of the everyday bustle about the ship in the corridor, Sam clearly noted the piercing silence that flooded the halls like a dam bursting open and water rushing down a river tearing trees out of the ground and reeking all kinds of havoc.

The door slid open to the Zabrak's room and all of his things were still lying in the same place he had left them. He moved over to his pistols. He wrapped the belt around his waist and slid the two pistols into the holsters on either side of his hips. He tossed his trench coat about his shoulders and picked up his duffel bag. He paused for a moment and took a deep breath then let it out slowly. He pivoted on his heel and headed to the hangar.

When Sam entered the hangar a squirrely little flight technician came up to him.

"I can, uh, take that for you, err, sir," the technician fumbled as Sam handed his bag over to him.

"This should be put on the Dark Dragoons' shuttle and try not to get it mixed up," Sam subtly stated and moved on towards the shuttle. The technician let out a little high pitched yip and scurried off.  Sam rolled his eyes and let out a quiet chuckle at the sight of the tech. "At least everyone who works on this vessel does a pretty damn good job."

Sam stopped at the ramp that lead into the shuttle and waited for the rest of his squad in a serene silence. He was like a statue observing the rest of the world.

Alater's eyes snapped open as the familar scent wafted into his nose. He had been half meditating and half resting by their shuttle in the hangar. His gear, what little there was not on his person, was already stowed away in the back, including the rest of his stormtrooper armor. His grenades and kit were also stowed, just incase.

As he rose Alater turned his head towards the source of the smell and at first only saw a technician struggling with a bag, and then he saw Sam. Alater intercepted the technician and removed the bag from him easily, and then turned to follow Sam back to the shuttle. Alater made a small bow when he came before Sam.

"Good afternoon DeathLeader. May we hunt with glory today." Alater said as he rose from his bow, a sly, possibly sinister smile, on his face.

"There is no need for that Private. My name is Sam." Sam said without more than a turn of his head and a nod of acknowledgement.

"Yes DeathLeader." Alater said with the same smile as he turned to walk by his squadleader. Inside Alater placed the bad carefully beside his own and secured it tightly, and then proceeded back to the ramp. There he stood behind and to the left of Sam, legs spread slightly, hands clasped behind his back, and eyes closed.

Orobos walked down the hall to get his bag with his equipment in it. When he got to the room he reached under the bunk and pulled out the bag, double checked that all his weapons and armour and provisions where in it and headed of to the shuttle which was supposed to be leaving in just over half an hour. As he walked by the bar he stook his head in to see if those guys from earlier on hadn't come back. He saw Tanus and Zafo. He gave them a short wave which they returned and left. The envoys which the Republic sent to his planet always made the Empire out as cruel, evil and heartless villians. Once again he wondered, should he have gotten himself entangled in this war?

As he approached the shuttle he saw the squad leader Sam standing on the ramp to the shuttle. He seemed to be preoccupied with something. He thought it best not to disturb him so walked right past and found a place to sit. The pilots entered and walked into the cockpit and close the door behind them. He felt the trum of the generator as it started up. He took out his armour and started straping it on, checking and double-checking his weapons. He wanted to make a good impression on his first mission. "Hopefully things would go smoothly" he thought to himself.

He took out his vibroaxe and began to clean it and make sure it wasn't dull he began to go over the stuff his father had told him before his first hunt.

It always helped came him down somehow....

Maybe it was the fact he had been gone for the better part of this year and the one prior. Maybe, it was because he felt bad he had left in such a hurry to handle matters at home. Hell, maybe he just missed the army life.

Whatever it was, Giovanni Bryden felt an anxiety like he had only felt it one time before.

The ride from Coruscant was relatively unpleasant. Civilian transport was never his thing. Upon arriving on Tadath, however, Giovanni began to realize that this really was home. Everything in neat order, not an object or person out of place; the strict military discipline a huge contrast to unruly and chaotic world he had just left. It was no secret that Coruscant, especially its lower levels, was a dump.

There was no time for formalities, however. As much as he would have loved to take a stroll through the grounds, and even sneak off to have a drink or two, time was of the essence. The Dragoons would soon take off for their new mission, and although he had missed the briefing, and for the most part, knew nothing about the state of the squad or the army for that matter, he was eager to get back into action.

***
A short sleep later, the craft reached the orbiting behemoth that was the Dominion.

"Good thing im all packed," thought Gio to himself, as he glanced down at a holopad. He would be cutting it close, but it seemed like he would make it, if just barely. The Dominion was a large ship, but  luckily the walk from one hangar bay to another did not present a challenge, even if he was carrying all his armor and weapons in the same black duffel bag he had been using for the last two and a half years.

He was anxious alright. And maybe a little nervous.

Do they remember me? Am i even welcome? Are my friends still around?

He felt the dull thud of guilt pressing down on his broad chest. He had, in some ways, deserted the squad. It wasn't his fault his father was in grave health. He was the eldest son after all, and he had to take after the rest of the family. But maybe his departure was a bit too rash.

Shaking off the bad thoughts in his head, he noticed that the entrance to the hangar bay was only a couple dozen yards away. He checked the datapad again. 2 minutes remaining. I really did cut it close.

Walking through the door he saw the shuttle, and nothing else. The rest of the squad was inside, stowing their equipment and strapping themselves in.

Just like old times... he thought, partly reflecting and partly trying to convince himself.

Just like old times...

With his new duties that had been assigned to him by the imperial army, and having been acquainted with the recruiting station Hector_Vandaval made his way onto the lambda shuttle where it would transport him to his new wear abouts.

Looking at the orders that had been assigned to him, the dark dragoons, Mechnized Infantry was the perfect place to go for a someone who expressed a high interest in technology, mathematics and scientific equations.

His interest was like no other, and what placed him apart from other storm troopers like him was that he was interested in something they might have not usually grown accustom to.

Thinking to himself while in the lambda shuttle.

"I chose something I like alot so im going to stick with, either way. Mechanized units sounds so fantastic to me in a broadened sense."

"I will also like where I am going to go as well, meet new people and enjoy what the empire has to offer. What more can I ask for?"

After a long drawn thought of what was going to be in his career. The pilots in the Lamba shuttle made there way to the Dark Dragoon member location area. The pilots spoke, "Private First Class Hector_Vandaval, were at location, make sure to have all your orders straightened, and proceed of the shuttle ramp. Glory to the empire and good luck soldier."

He looked back at the pilots and nodded then proceed down the shuttle ramp and made his way towards the Dark Dragoons building . Walking next to the door he opened it, and proceeded to the Commander of (DD).

"Private First Class Hector_Vandaval, reporting for duty sir, here are my orders. I was transported directly from Coruscant, and I joined the imperial army on my own accord."

After hearing the commanders new orders a new mission was on the table, and Hector_Vandaval was ready to suit up at a moments notice. Getting all his gear straightened up, he made himself look like the a standard stormtrooper. Walking out of the ready room and out of the building he noticed a ship was on the landing pad.

"That's the one" Thinking to himself, and looking to see that Gunnery Sergeant Sam was at the shuttle ramp.

Walking towards the shuttle, he made his way towards the GS. "Private First Class, Hector_Vandaval, nice to meet you sir! I assume we can't talk much due to the mission so ill make my way onto the ship and after the mission if you have time i can better introduce myself." Hector motioned towards the Gunnery Sergeant.

Sam was still standing outside the shuttle ramp. He saw Zafo and Tanus entering through the hangar door. The two had all their gear with them. When they made it to the shuttle, the same squirrelly technician came up and took their larger bags to be stored in the underside compartment. Sam gave them a nod and they headed up the ramp on to the shuttle.

"Well, that's the last of them," Sam thought to himself. He turned and headed up the ramp himself. As he entered he spotted Rizzit snoozing in one of the seats near the front of the shuttle. He paused thinking whether he should risk waking him up to inform everyone of his presence or not. The Zabrak opted not to do so and shuffled everyone a little ways to the rear of the shuttle.

"If anyone didn't notice, we have a guest on this mission. Our platoon commander is going to be tagging along with us," the Zabrak started, "So, we need to our best. That's really all I have about that. Oh, and try to keep it down a little bit, he is asleep and all up there."

Sam headed back to his seat at the front of the shuttle. He just settled into his seat when a familiar face appeared in front of him. Sam jumped to his feet with lightning speed.

"GIO!" Sam shouted without thinking. Everyone on the shuttle jumped at the sudden outburst.

"Damn it Sam! I was just&" Rizzit yelled, but cut off quickly when he saw Giovanni standing at the front of the shuttle.

"Looks like they do remember me, at least those that were around when I was," Giovanni thought to himself.

"This is quite the surprise," Sam chuckled, "We were just getting ready to depart. So, grab a seat and either Zafo or I will get you up to date on our mission that is if you aren't already."

Giovanni took a seat in the middle of the shuttle. Everyone else took their seats and the shuttle departed the VSD Dominion. The trip to a nearby civilian space station was only a few minutes away. The Dragoons would move from their current shuttle into a civilian one for their trip to Abregado-rae.

It seemed to Sam as though he had just closed his eyes when the pilot alerted the passengers that they were preparing to land on the space station. It was a quick and subtle drop to the landing platform. The Dragoons and Rizzit filed out and headed over to the large public transport ship that would take them to their final destination.

As the Dragoons boarded the civilian ship there was a screen giving estimated times of arrival to the different stops that this ship would be making. Abregado-rae was the first on the list. The time given was roughly six hours from that particular moment.

Sam looked about and took notice that there were very few people on this shuttle. He moved inwards and took as seat, followed by the rest of the Dragoons and Rizzit.

[OOC: next poster needs to get us en route to our mission planet. Remember it is going to take us some time to get there.]

Giovanni took a sigh of relief as he entered the shuttle. A few familiar faces looked up to greet him, as well of a couple of others, who no doubt had heard about him and his years with the squad.

The welcoming words from some of the people in the shuttle just seemed to blend into the whole ambiance of the scene he was taking in. The sounds and smells of the bay, the shuttle, the clattering of equipment being forced into overhead compartments.

"We were just getting ready to depart. So, grab a seat and either Zafo or I will get you up to date on our mission that is if you aren't already." Gio nodded. He knew very little about the mission besides the destination. But even the name 'Abregado-Rae' didn't ring a bell to the veteran Dragoon.

He absorbed every detail of the briefing, taking note of anything chunk of information that might prove useful, giving an acknowledging nod to his squad leaders as they finished off.

The ride to the civilian station was very brief. As per his briefing, Imperial presence was not a welcome thing in this area of the galaxy. For that reason, Giovanni wore his common garb, with his equipment in a bag laid neatly by his side. The short-cut hair, black shirt, long cargo pants and boots wouldn't bring any unnecessary attention to him. A weathered leather vest finished off his outfit, making him look more like a smuggler than a highly trained Imperial killing machine.

Before he knew it, the squad had walked over to the large transport that would take them to the destination.

//ABREGADO-RAE: ETA 6 Hours//

More time to catch up on sleep, grumbled the senior sergeant to himself. 6 hours wasnt exactly a long trip, but after a very long and uneventful shuttle ride from Coruscant to Tadath, the thought of one more made him want to shoot himself.

As their squad leader Sam sat down, the rest of the squad began to fill into their respective seats.

Sam looked deep in thought, as Giovanni eased back into his seat and closed his eyes.

Orobos had finally managed to get comfortable when the pilot was announcing that they were about to land. They got of and made towards the Public shuttle which would take them to Abregado-rae. They seemed to get across quickly enough and not haveing to go through security checks. Everything seemed to be organised for them.

They boarded the public shuttle and it wasn't long before they were departing. He leaned back thinking he might have a sleep before they got there. But when he closed his eyes he found that it nearly impossible to do. The noise of the multiple engines seemed to increase when he shut his eyes. He opened them and thought it was pointless to try. He didn't feel up to going through his gear again and he didn't think it very clever to be taking stormtrooper armour and weapons out of bag when on a public shuttle and they were to remain inconspicuous on this mission after all.

He decided to stretch his legs a bit and got up and started walking around the room. After a while he got bored of this and moved to sit down again and try to get some sleep before the mission. He closed his eyes.

He was in a crowd of people. A few of which were his kind but most of them weren't. His father was beckoning to him. He started through the crowed when suddenly there was the sound of a blaster going of and a terrible pain. He spun around and leapt on a Rodian. His comrades moved to help him.

Orobos opened his eyes. And stood up. The dream had unnerved him.. he hadn't had one like that in a while. He didn't want this sort of anxiety while on the mission so he started walking again.

It wasn't long before Giovanni opened his eyes again and propped himself up in his uncomfortable civilian transport seat. His neck was stiff from lack of a head rest, and his nerves unsettled. He had never been a fan of space travel, but the luxuries of Rizzit's yacht had made him forget all about it in the past. However, this time was anything but luxurious. Civilian transports weren't known for their comfort and class. They were little more than tin boxes with seats. Giovanni understood the notion of keeping a low profile, but this might have been too low of a profile. He tried to la y down again, but the dull throbbing in his neck and the pulsating hum of the engines kept him up like some troubling dream.

Looking over at Sam he saw that he was still wide awake. The troubled look on his face had not changed, but it was nothing new. Many had a troubled but determined look on their face before a mission, as his brief stint as assistant squad leader had taught him.

"Doing alright there, Sam?" he inquired, concerned, but trying not to show it. Sam spun around to greet him and flashed a smile. Something in his eyes however...just wasn't right.

"Im fine, just thinking."

Sam turned back and didnt reveal anything else. Something was bugging him, but Giovanni had no idea what.

He peered back and scanned the seats. At least half of all the Dragoons were asleep. The other half either let their eyes wander or talked to the person next to them. One thing struck him as odd, however. He hadn't took note on his way in, but there weren't very many people on the shuttle besides the squad.

I guess we're not headed for a tourist destination, he muttered to himself.

Is this what was bothering Sam? Was this a trap? Had he lost his battle honed senses in his time off?

The unknown was not something he could easily cope with.

Looking around the ship, Hector casually stretched out his arms, and his fingers, giving them a little twist here, and there. After having been in the ship for a while his back was getting a little edgy so he walked side to side merely trying to get a hold of himself. This mission was going to be something that Hector had little to know about but rather he wanted to see what was out there other than the planet Coruscant.

Having been on Coruscant, and being taught all those lessons proved to be rather useful. Like the scientific methods learned in the classroom. That later came to use in the ship where he could look at his gear, and begin annotating the distances between the nearest groove on the gun and how long the chamber was, and what was the average energy level in a storm trooper blaster.

Hector was intrigued by all that he knew and came to learn along the way, and made notes in his journal on the flight to there destination. The crew aboard the ship seemed rather nice to him but talking to one another in open daylight was not something to do when they had a mission to focus on so Hector rather than talking was thinking about his next move when he would make it off the ship ramp.

The shuttle was on its way to Abregado-rae and rather it was a good or bad looking planet was not on Hector's mind. It was the fact of reaching it and seeing the new things.

Alater spent the majority of his trip alone in the back of the transport. His size and black scales, mixed with rumors of Barabels eating children kept him pretty much alone besides the occasional 'hi' from a squadmate. What kept him busy though was the set of large cases in the cargo hold.

Inside was just about everything except a tank and the ketchen food dispenser. Two sniper rifles, with fully collapsable stocks and barrels, two pistols set to fit his size hands, though when he would have the time to use them Alater never knew, a set of wrist rockets with plenty of rockets. These were all new additions and sat nicely in their three seperate cases, but that wasn't all.

Behind them was another box filled with enough explosives and parts to blow up a whole city block. Plasma grenades, smokes, flashes, poison, everything. Most of it was completely disasembled, but some of it was half finished, power cores exposed. They were all safety enabled, but Alater liked to check on them from time to time. He then packed the guns into one nice neat little case, and secured the explosives and parts case next to it.

Two more cases carried his personal weapons, all of which he disasembled, cleaned, and put back together in a few minutes. He then packed the guns into one nice neat little case, and secured the explosives and parts case next to it. Alater blinked to put his eyes back into the visible light range and straightened. He secured his weapons and turned around swiftly to come face to face with Giovanni.

"Don't you think that's a little excessive there Private...?" Giovanni asked as he peared around at the small collection of arms.

"It never hurts to be prepared for the Hunt Deathmember. I also assumed that some of our DeathMates would partake in....sharing? these weapons in case of emergency. Stealth I understand is neccessary, but sometimes bigger weapons help." Alater responded as he looked Giovanni up and down. The man looked to be in good shape, but was probably in a lot better earlier on.

As Gio and Alater headed back towards there seats nobody really looked, or wanted to. Alater's seat at the back was a comfort compared to the ground of rock he usually slept on back home, but was nothing compared to his barrack accomidations.

The only thing that could usually do away with Giovanni's jitters were a decent nap. In these conditions, however, shut-eye was impossible. The engines hummed, the steel creaked on ocassion, and the entire place smelled like the inside of a cantina. He couldn't take it anymore.

He looked over to Sam to strike up a conversation and saw that he had finally nodded off and was getting some rest. He wouldn't bother him to take his mind off things.

Looking back to the back of the shuttle he saw that mostly everyone was dozing off, including the squad members. He ran a mental checklist of the squad members. The ones he could remember at least. Zafo was sleeping, but had the look of a person that was taking note of everything he heard in the room, ready to spring up at any sign of danger. Sam had a look on his face like that of a corpse. No expression. The only thing he observed is that his eyes were moving rapidly under his lids, a sure sign that he was having a dream, or even a nightmare. Hector, the rookie, seemed a little eager and continued to scan the room. Giovanni wanted to tell him to relax and try to blend in, but that would attract unecessary attention from any of the other passengers on the shuttle.

To his embarassment, the names and faces of the rest of the squad escaped him.

"All in due time," he said to himself. There would be plenty of opportunities to bond with the rest of them. After all, nothing brings a squad together like lasers scorching the air around them.

He got up and stretched, looked around to see if anyone was watching him, and zipped up his jacket. He made his way down the aisle and to the back of the shuttle. Maybe ill check my equipment now while everyone is asleep. Wouldn't want any of the passengers to see me cleaning an E-11 blaster and polishing an Army issue helmet... it might make things interesting.

Walking through the stacked boxes of cargo, Gio noticed a tall, broad shadow projecting itself onto the floor of the bay. He held his breath, and brought his hand down near the concealed blaster held close to his chest. He watched the dark figure intently, and walked out to confront it.

It was Alater.

His finger lessened its death grip on the trigger, and he gave a quiet sigh of relief.

"Don't you think that's a little excessive there, Private...?" he asked the reptilian creature. His tail spun and then relaxed again as he turned to face the Sergeant.

Giovanni had a hard time listening to what Alater had to say. He was taken aback by the sheer size and build of the creature. The pointed teeth and amber eyes seemed to hypnotize him for a moment. It was no secret why the Barabel were some of the most feared aliens in the galaxy.

"...stealth i understand is necessary, but sometimes bigger weapons help." the creature finished, with a low growl. At least he agreed with him on something. Giovanni nodded and made his way back to his seat. There was nothing for him in the cargo room anymore. He had stretched out. He just wanted to get back to his seat and try to relax again.

Alater growled again and sat down at the back of the shuttle. Over the sound of people coughing and chattering low in alien tongues, he heard him utter "Rest well deathmember. Soon we embark on the hunt."

Deathmember...That's a funny way to put it..

He looked down at his wrist and saw that they were now only 2 hours away from their destination. If he wanted to get any rest, he'd have to start soon.

Is it too much to ask to be left alone to rest? Rizzit thought to himself as he lay awake in his passenger chair. After trying to go back to sleep (after being awoken by the Giovanni incident earlier) several times, Rizzit decided that it was a lost cause. Rizzit got up out of his chair and lost his footing slightly as the ship moved. Woah, we're en-route. It's good to know that I at least got SOME sleep.... After regaining his footing, Rizzit went to have a word with Sam.

Sam was a few rows up ahead of Rizzit just watching the out of control zoo rage rampant during the flight. Sam just sat there shaking his head as he watched the immaturity of his troopers continue. The Zabrak felt the soft feel of a glove tap him on his shoulder. "Didn't I tell you to let me sleep?" Rizzit asked with a false kindness to his voice.

"Err....Rizz....I tried to shut them up but as you can see they're a bit...boisterous."

"Then why were you the one that woke me up?" Rizzit teased half sarcastic half sincere. "Though if your troopers are the problem..."

Rizzit turned his attention to the Zoo and whistled loudly. "Listen up! I am TRYING to sleep. I don't care if you want to play sabaac or drink or whatever, but I need my rest. I gotta spend the rest of my time with the whole lot of you, so at least give me this short period of time to myself."

Rizzit then turned his attention back to Sam. "They're all yours. Good night!" Rizzit said as he went back to his seat.

Rizzit was no sooner back in his seat when the newest member of the Dragoons came over to him. Oi! What now? Rizzit thought as the trooper sat down.

"Forgive the intrusion sir, but I just wanted to formally introduce myself. I am---"

"Private First Class Hector Vandaval." Rizzit finished. "Graduated from the Academy in half the time. I especially look forward to working with you."

Hector was taken aback. "Sir....you...know my name?"

"Yes Hector, and forgive my rudeness: but is that all?"

"Yes sir...that was all."

"Good. Come have a chat with me later if you'd like after I wake up. For now, I'm in need of a good rest."

Tanus sat about halfway in the transport, which gave him some room to meditate in peace. At least, at first it did. Tanus was shaken when Rizzit yelled at the lot of them for disturbing his slumber. Tanus smirked a little. So this is Dark Dragoon squad, eh? I think I'll like it here. Tanus closed his eyes again, and went back to meditating, feeling his chi rising within him.

4 HOURS E.T.A

Tanus was meditating as he had been for hours already when he got the urge to clean his sword. Tanus turned behind around and grabbed his modified Ryyk blade. He took it out of the sheath and stood up and began to floret it in his hands, twirling it at various angles in his hands.

Tanus sat back down after about 10 minutes of that and took out a black stone and started to sharpen the blade, He ran the stone along the blade's flat surface, hearing the blade's edge sliding against the cool surface of the rock. He did both sides before moving on to actually cleaning it, which required a special solution of ionized water. After applying it, he dried it off and set it back in his sheath. He was just about to start meditating again when Urukai, his ARC squad compatriot, walked in the room.

"Hey, Tanus. We're getting a game of Sabaac going. You in?"

Tanus nodded. "Yeah, I'm in, I've got nothing else to do anyway."

The two headed up to one of the forward rooms where Alater, Orobos and Hector were seated. Hector extended his hand to Tanus.

"Greetings. I am Hector Vandaval. I'm the Dark Dragoon's newest member."

Tanus took the hand and shook it.

"Welcome aboard, Hector. I'm new myself, so we're in the same boat."

Tanus took a seat next to Urukai.

"OK, who's dealing?"

Someone threw the deck at Tanus. Tanus simply shook his head as he started to shuffle.

It never fails.

After being introduced to the crew aboard the shuttle Hector wanted to know more about them but now wasn't the time to do that just yet. After all they were on a mission and there was four hours left tell there arrival at Abregado-rae. The platoon commander seemed like a nice fellow to Hector while he had been sitting down chatting with him.

"I'm Private First Class Hector Vandaval, nice to meet you sir, I'm fairly new so getting around is something I have to get used to and knowing everyone is something I will later pick up. I do like that I have been assigned very quickly, and to something I really like.

"That's good to hear Hector, I shall speak more to you when I have the chance to but for now the ship is on its way to the planets surface, and we have a mission to get to."

"Understood sir, when the moment arises, and you get more free time we shall talk more about what I have done in the academy, and what I will come to do."

Rizzit nodded to Hector and carried on with his business,  then Hector proceeded to meet up with the other members of the squad. There was Sam, Giovanni, Tanus, Alater, Orobos and the ships pilots.

Hector carried on his conversation with Tanus in the interest that he would hope to learn more about this new squad he was assigned to.

"Interesting, so seeing as were both new we can learn something from one another, what might be your specialty or are you almost done with your training on that"

"Oh I'm almost done working with my specialty, and learning a lot of new stuff about it actually."

"That's good to hear, I'm thinking about the Heavy Weapons Specialty myself"

"Ah, you might like that a lot, on other notes, we got a game of Sabaac going on, you want to join?"

"Sure"

The two of sat next to Urukai and began there game, then Hector began to run through mathematical equations as the game was progressing, and the ship was making its way to the surface.

(OOC: Sorry for the late post :OOC)

For most of the trip Urakai had gone unnoticed by the squad, although his presence was known. He had been sitting in silence, listening to every galactic basic word and alien sounds alike. He was not the social type, although he had played a few Sabaac games with his squad mates. The most part of the trip he was sitting isolated from the rest of the squad, in the right bottom corner of the public transport. His seat was comfortable enough to allow him to dose off. He and one other person travelling on the ship were wearing a full black outfit, with black cargo pants and a civilian/formal type jacket over his black undershirt, which made them stand out. It was only until two hours had passed, that he finally became bored and walked over to a few of his squad mates who were apparently playing Sabaac.

"May I play?" Urakai asked softly, waiting for a reply.

At first, they did not know he was apart of the squad, but agreed anyway. Urakai smirked at the thought that they didn't know who he was.

Then Orobos who had arrived shortly before Urakai mentioned, "We're still short of players."

"Don't worry, I'll get someone." Urakai stated before sitting up and walked back to the halfway of the transport.

He them saw Tanus, who was his former ARC squad mate.

He was just placing his sword back from where he had got it from when Urakai said, "Hey, Tanus. We're getting a game of Sabaac going. You in?"

Tanus nodded, "Yeah, I'm in, I've got nothing else to do anyway."

They both moved up and sure enough, there on a little setup table sat Alater, Orobos and Hector. Hector was the first to speak, introducing himself to Tanus.

"OK, who's dealing?" Tanus asked.

Alater smiled and pushed the deck across the table at Tanus, who simply shook his head and began dealing.

As he was dealing, Orobos soon asked, "Ohh, you know Tanus?

Urakai nodded.

"Ohh, so you must be apart of-" Orobos wasn't able to finish it before Urakai smirked and nodded again.

The ship was still keeping its speed the same, indicating that the planet wasn't visible yet.

An entire hour had rolled passed Urakai's mind before he finally got up and headed back for his original seat.

"Later." Tanus waved as the rest just nodded in a 'see ya' way.

Urakai sat down in his seat and gave a short sigh as he closed his eyes. Before he retired for the little time he would get, he felt his jackets for his two short vibro blades. They were safely tucked inside, ready for use if needed. It would not be long before the mission took way, and when you had been gone an entire month, the battle sensation became cold. He would need them to warm it up.

Just as he had began to close his eyes and doze off, the ship erupted into laughter and yelling. So much for keeping a low profile...he thought to himself. He looked over to Sam who was now wide awake, talking to a visibly annoyed Rizzit.

It looked as though everyone was sick and tired of sitting around waiting for their trip to end. A game of Sabaac was in the works, and by the sound of it, someone had just taken a big hit to their pockets.

"You skifting bastard!" screamed out one of the troopers. Gio didn't bother to look up. In a way they were still blending in. No one would suspect that this ragged looking group of hooligans was a squad of Imperials.

"QUIET DOWN BACK THERE!" he yelled to voice his feigned anger to any other passenger in the ship. As far as they knew, this was just a group of rowdy young strangers enjoying a loud game of Sabaac.

The people playing just laughed. Either they knew what Gio was trying to do, or they genuinely found it funny that they couldn't let the veterans in the squad sleep.

He must have gotten at list a bit of rest, however, even if it didnt feel like it. As he looked down at his wrist, he noticed that the shuttle would land in only an hour. He turned over to Sam and Rizzit.

"Quite the rowdy ones aren't they?" he commented in their general direction. He could see Sam awake, but Rizzit did not look to be in the mood to talk. As he expected, Rizzit did nothing but roll over in his seat and cover his ears with his hands.

"Yeah, let them enjoy themselves now. Once we touch down, who knows how long it'll be until we get a little rest and relaxation." replied his squad leader.

"Kinda makes you wish i had gotten a little sleep," he added later, with a war-weary look in his eye.

"I hear that," replied Giovanni. The game was still going strong as he could hear. He turned around and saw that even one of the other passengers had joined in and was enjoying himself.

In the back he could see Alater, still and seated in the same place he had left him almost 4 hours before.

I know they're cold-blooded, but this is ridiculous, he said to himself. Maybe he just needed a little time to adapt. Or maybe this was just the way he was. He hadn't dealt with Barabels before, and what little he knew came from unreliable sources.

He turned back on his chair once again and looked over at Rizzit, who seemed to be sound asleep.

"He's not wasting any time is he," he said as he turned his head over to Sam.

He didn't get a response.

"Well, i guess that's my cue," said Giovanni, as he leaned himself back and tried to get some rest one final time.

Alater had never been one for Sabaac, the game always ended with people losing limbs on his planet. It was made to build tension and anger and requiered little skill. Alater's solution to watching people play Sabaac, was to not watch people play Sabaac. He stayed in his seat and utterly ignored them, but something caught his eye.

There, a rodian speaking to a human, wasn't all that uncommon even with the Galactic Empire's old views of xenophobia, but the human caught his eye. The way the man moved was like that of a hunter, one stalking a prey. None of this would have disturbed him much had not been for where his eyes lay: on Alater's DeathMembers.

As Alater watched, the rodian turned to him, and then the human, but Alater turned their stares away with a glare and a show of teeth. His new blaster pistols was holstered behind his back, and he considered going for it, but that was not part of The Hunt. These two would cause trouble though.

Alater settled for watching them, closely.

Though his eyes were shut, Zafo was far from asleep. He was tuning his hearing into various conversations. His motives however, were not to be eavesdropping, but simply to enjoy the exchange of words and experiences amongst the Galaxy's living creatures. It always fascinated him how each one had a their own distinctive life, very separate from his own. He heard tales of joy, and tales of woe but none of them appeared as dull.

Zafo decided once again to let his hearing wander and pick up on a new conversation.  Amongst the chatter of recognizable and unknown languages, there was one in particular that caught Zafo's attention. A young human was talking briefly about Sabaac. The reply to the statement was of another language, one Zafo had been very familiar with in his pre-Vast Empire years. The language was Rodese; and though it had been many, many years since Zafo had spoken to his old partner in crime, he was still able to understand a fair bit of what the Rodian was saying.

"Not really my game." The Rodian replied.

Suddenly, the tone of his voice became much more serious.

"Those kids playing Sabaac over there..."

"Yeah, I know..." Replied the human a tinge of concern in his voice. "I saw a couple of them cleaning and checking up on their equipment stashes. I think it's... them."

"Them?" The word repeated itself in Zafo's head. It was without a doubt he was referring either to the Vast Empire in general, or the more frightening option of the Dragoons in particular.

"We've got to tell the boss." The rodian clicked quickly.

"He'll be waiting for us in docking bay 32B." There was a slight pause, "Which is perfect because I can't wait to get my hands on that new speeder!" There was a sudden burst of excitement in the human's voice.

"Top of the line too, custom engines and everything." Rodian replied with a dramatic change in tone from his last statement.

Zafo continued to listen to their conversation for another fifteen minutes or so, but there was  no other mention of "them" or "the boss". Nonetheless, Zafo was sure of what he had heard. After a while, Zafo got up from his seat and headed towards the washroom. He made a detour so that he could pass Sam on his way.

As he passed his Squad Leader, Zafo gave him a nudge on the shoulder.

"Meet me by the washrooms in five minutes... We may have a huge problem on our hands..."

Sam looked up as Zafo nudged him. He got the message and took a look at his data pad for the time. He relaxed a bit back into his seat. He began to think about all the possible things that could be the major problem Zafo had mentioned.

The tall Zabrak lifted himself from the seat and headed down the aisle to the washroom. He entered casually, doing his best to act as if nothing was wrong. As he entered he whistled a popular tune from Courisant. Zafo was standing at a sink at the far end of the room. Sam headed that way and occupied the sink next to his squad mate.

"So, what have you got?" Sam asked quietly.

"I overheard a couple of guys talking about a few of our guys. They spoke in Rodese in parts, but it sounds as if they know of our arrival," Zafo started.

"Are you sure they weren't talking about some else?" the Zabrak inquired.

"I certain they were talking about us. They mentioned about Gio and Alater checking on their equipment, obviously not by name."

"Hmm, this is a somewhat interesting turn of events. We should tell the guys to keep lower profiles."

"They also said they were going to tell their 'boss' when we reach planet side in docking bay 32B. I think that we need to keep an eye on these guys to see if we can get a bit more information."

"I agree and we will need to&" Sam was cut off by someone bursting through the washroom door. It was a small alien fumbling about. It was shocking that someone so small could be so noisy.

"&anyhow, we will need to check out said docking bay, I'll go inform Rizzit of this. I just hope he will be waking up , so I don't have to wake him," Sam said just a little bit more quiet, "You should try to get the rest of them too simmer down some."

Zafo nodded an acknowledgement as Sam turned and left.

AS Orobos shifted his wait he felt the chair in which he was sitting on give a loud creak. So far he ad been playing badly. The newcomer, one of the passengers, was playing incredibly well. The discovery that two of his squad mates were from the Elite ARC squad was good to know, not that he didn't trust his other squad mates, but having elite stormtroopers on the team and the platoon commander was a big bonus. He felt more confident now about the upcoming mission.

He kept glancing over his shoulder at the Barabel called Alater. He had heard the stories of the terrible things that they supposedly do and though he didn't believe them, they still made him uneasy. He felt like he was being watched but the Barabel didn't seem to be looking anywhere near the table at which they were playing. He looked around the room. It was quite deserted. Apart
from the squad there was a Rodian and a Human sitting in one corner, a thing sitting a couple of rows in front of Sam, he couldn't see it due to it's large coat and another human a couple of
seats down from the thing.

Somebody said his name and he jumped a bit. It was Hector and he was holding out the deck of cards to him. "It's your turn to deal." Orobos took the cards and began fumbling with them. his hands were too big to shuffle them properly but he did his best. As he began to pass them out once again he glanced around the room and saw the Rodian and the Human muttering and throwing
glances in there direction. Then Zafo got up and passed Sam to go to the bathroom. After a couple of minutes Sam got up and followed Zafo in. He looked over at the Rodian and the human again who continued to talk but didn't look at them again.
