Im pretty proud of myself for understanding that even though i could count the words i know in spanish on one hand. I love European langugages tendencies to copy each other, my french pulled me through that sentence  -----------------------

It is the independance day, but they celebrate it by commemorating their dead.

Same thing, they are both Independence Day for Mexico and the US. They have a party for their dead (and yes there are fireworks) while we just have a party without any reason. To many it's just an excuse to drink, which is sad, but we don't have to go through all these dead person rituals and customs like the Mexicans do. -----------------------
