Raigen, you should look into buying a brain. Darr is talking about a new section on the comnet. It's a suggestion to Kad to add it, to help the less knowledgeable about tech things. Try 'reading' next time.

well since this is the topic I have two problems with my computer.

1. When I play a high end graphics came such as Oblivion or MTW2 after a while of playing the game will freeze on me and I have to reboot, it than says it recovered from a major error. For this I plan on getting a new graphics card sometime soon.

2. My family can hear my fan from the floor under me, and my computer is very loud, anything I can do to reduce the noise?

1.  Get the Power supply checked.  Update your video card drivers, and install the latest patches on your games.  Have you by chance overclocked your processor or graphics card?  Also, you may need to open up your case and do a bit of dusting.  If fans or vents are clogged with dust, this can cause temps to rise, which can lead to other problems such as crashes, premature component failure, etc.... You might want to take the PC outside, place it on a flat surface, remove the side panel, and use a can of compressed air on it.  Make sure to get all fans and vents, and pay special attention to the fan on the processor, video card, and power supply.

2.  If your system is too loud, it's either one fan that's causing all the noise, or all of the fans as a whole.  If it's just one, maybe try opening the case, then turn the PC on, and listen.  Sometimes you can tell if a particular fan is louder than the others.  If you can find the right one, then replace it.

Also, if you can write exactly what the error says, that would be helpful.

considering I am computer illiterate how do I check the power supply? My computer was customized so I do not know which video cards I use if my processor is overclocked I wouldnt know about it, how do I find out? and I know how to dust it

as a side note it is the last time I am buying a customized computer damn thing has caused alot of trouble.
