If you are talking about the RTS version(I am not sure if they have any other kinds) like Dawn of War and such, I would play but my comp sucks really bad and so does my connection so I can't play any games other than maybe Red Alert 2:Yuri's Revenge -----------------------

I would like to play the table top version but...it is so expensive. Plus, I'm poor, which makes that even harder to play the table top.
I do play DoW though. Pretty fun. -----------------------

I started out with Imperial Guard, then converted to Chaos, and now I play Orks in addition to Chaos.

Some people are making a Civ III Warhammer 40k Mod. They did an absolutely fantastic job of their first Warhammer one and now are going for the 40k. Should be come.

I do indeed know of this boardgame. As a young lad, I often enjoyed the quiet hours that the assembling and painting of models would bring. I favored the Necrons above all others. -----------------------

Ah but it gets more complicated than that, even.
Starcraft? Yeah, that's loosely based on Warhammer.
Then there's all the different kinds. Even now including goddamn LotR. Fantasy is totally different from 40k, etc etc.

I just got 20 space marines, so I now officially play. My friend plays too, but has yet to get any troops for his new army since he made the switch from 'Nids to Tau (I'm looking at you Aph)
I'm going to have a black Templar army of space marines, so if anyone could give me advice concerning them, that would be helpful. -----------------------

Yeah, ARNAUT, I am making the switch to Tau. Seeing as how they can pretty much take down any and everyone long-range wise, what should I do when the enemy closes in and melee starts up? And also, are the Kroots any good at melee? -----------------------

My advice is for you to play as Chaos. This is because Space Marines are too damn normal. Chaos is just more entertaining, and evil, don't forget evil. Well actually, Space Marines are evil too. But they're evil in a corrupt and Nazi-esque fashion. They persecute all who disagree with them or are different and they despise free thought. Not to mention that you can turn Space Marine models into Chaos models.
BTW: Playing as Tau in close combat is suicide. I personally don't like them as they are way to shooty.
