RK, we talked over it on IRC and my answer to your concerns will still be the same.
And to business :
I just made a monster 6 page post on the story. Now, I know that it's gonna be a pain in the ass to read a post of that length, but please note that I have broken it up into several distinct parts, marked by asterisks symbols, to make for easier reading. Take your time to read through it slowly, because some parts are more useful than others.

Section I - Radios Comms for the Story
I've fixed two radio callsigns for Garet, the Squad Leader and Phenix, the Assistant Squad Leader. The callsigns I give out in the story are loosely based on real-life radio communications lingo of the US military, though they may be slightly outdated in this day and age. Commanding Officer or Senior Officer of a Unit is always a "6". Next in command is always a "5". A side note is that "6" is usually reserved for company commanders and above, but ah what the hell.
Jester Six - Garet
Jester Five - Phenix
Landslide Six - Ruvo Chips
Actual - Used to distinguish the commander from the radioman when the call sign is used.
Please be aware that besides Unit SLs and ASLs, nobody else is authorised to have radio callsigns. Reason being, in the real world, not every Private Tom, Dick and Harry would have access to higher command channels. For example, being the lowly trooper that I am, I won't be able to call in a mortar strike. That of course does not mean you are restricted from talking into your comlinks. Basically, the callsigns you are entitled to are your own nicks.

I am making a conscious effort to improve on the levels of realism in our story. Remember, no superman ARC uber-commando shit in our story where you backflip and do a judo roll that wipes out half a squad of opponents.
Therefore, in the interests of promoting realism, I am providing several links that you guys should click on. They contain information which I believe are relevant to the squad profile.

Section III - Fireteams
Jester is officially divided into two fireteams, Alpha and Bravo, for story purposes. Each fireteam is a four man team led by a senior NCO.
Some you may be unclear to the purpose of having fireteams. I hope to illustrate through my posts how the fireteam as a unit, is crucial in carrying out fire and movement to defeat the enemy.
The concept of the fireteam is based on the need for tactical flexibility in infantry operations. A fireteam is capable of autonomous operations as part of a larger unit. Successful fireteam employment relies on quality small unit training for soldiers, experience of fireteam members operating together, sufficient communications infrastructure, and a quality non-commissioned officer corps to provide tactical leadership for the team.
Garet will be posting our Combat Order of Battle (ORBAT) in the post below mine. He's working on a better one as I speak.
