The A-9 and I-7 are a lot less preferable to any TIE, I believe, even the Fighter, but that's just how true imperials think. :-/ -----------------------

I am all for the Interceptors, maneuverable, fast, four lasers, how much better can you get? And dont you dare say a lot or not much :-p -----------------------

Actually, there is supposedly space in an Interceptor to fit a hyperdrive...see Young Jedi Knights series...maybe there is space to make modified interceptors with shields? Though that is a lot like a Defender or Advanced. -----------------------

Some games have T/Is with shields and hyperdrives...I think that might be an idea to do...modify the interceptors so they are better fighting machines. -----------------------

i remember in aegis we said our stinky old regular T/F's had shields because it was too far fetched to believe we could keep on surviving our missions without any.
then again maybe we were that good

I really think it might be time to issue hyperdrive and shield equipped interceptors...have to wait for the official verdict though. -----------------------

When Majere was HHC he ordered all Navy ships be fitted with shields. I haven't heard differently since. -----------------------

That is correct. All of the VE's TIEs have shields. I'm not sure about hyperdrive, though... I don't think that's really necessary seeing as how we never go anywhere without a command ship.
Although, if I were you, I'd go for the heavy assault squadron. Assault gunboats are nice. They have laser and ions, good shields and armor, hyperdrive, and warhead launchers. The closest thing you're going to find to a Rebel-type fighter besides the more advanced TIEs. -----------------------

Yes, our interceptors have shields. No they don't have hyperdrives. The sheilds reduce manuverability a bit by increasing the mass of the fighter. Hyperdrives further reduce this to levels not very desirable in combat and thus are not equipped with them in most cases. -----------------------

I know I'm not the greatest pilot in the world but GUN's to me are looking like the best compromise between dealing with fighters and warships.
GUN's are fine until you start having to deal with A-Wings.
The option to mount rockets, torpedoes, missles, or bombs make it respectable as far as being able to fill multiple roles. -----------------------

A-wings... Too fast... Must survive. Well that's my mindless jumble for the day.
I say we just stick with the interceptors with shields, let's not get carried away and add hyperdrives and warheads. As far as I see, this is still a fighter squadron... Unless you decide to go gunboat style... -----------------------
