Yillis exited the main army briefing room with his head still running over the orders he had just received. First day on the job, and it was a army wide mission. At least he would have a chance to show what he could do. His first action was to get Alan on the comlink, "Alan, come in."

"You done Yillis?"

"Yeah, get the squad into the briefing room."

"Gotcha." The comlink crackled and died.

Yillis started to make his way over to the Paladin squad briefing room. Yillis only needed to give them a short, to the point briefing for this meeting. He could fully brief them on route to Abregado-rae. 

Yillis had made his way outside the command center and got on his speeder to get over to the Paladin barracks. By the time he arrived, the squad was in the briefing room, ready to hear the mission.

"Good to see everyone here. I'll just let you know the jist of it, then you can get your equipment ready for the mission. We'll be headed to Abregado-rae, step one being meet up with local resistance forces, and then infiltrate a Tundei building, then do some assassinating. Pretty straight forward. I've already assigned some of you jobs for this mission. Finch, you are gonna be our sniper. You should find a brand new LJ-90 Sniper Blaster Rifle when you get back to your room.  Kantar, load up on the demolitions bud, you may not need them, but that will be your job in case we do. If you want anything specific, just let me know.  Alan, Lucky, Renji, we're standard support troopers. Get a preferred load out of blaster rifles and random grenades would be nice. Flash bangs especially most likely."

The squad all gave a quick nod, so Yillis assumed everyone understood.

"Dismissed."

Gentle When Stroked - Fierce When Provoked!

Luckystar walked out of the briefing room, eager to get started on the mission. She walked to her quarters and entered the security code to unlock the door.  She opened it and saluted R7. "You can't come with me. You can come on a mini-mission soon though." She told the droid who had been loading up documents to bring along.

She entered another security code to get into her newly-built armory. She took out her body suit and armor, dud some maintenance on the armor and slipped them on. it didn't take her long to get putfitted, she had grown used to putting it on and taking it off so she was quite fast at it.
Nectt she took out he rBlaster Rifle, some Frag Grenades , her DC-15 Blaster Pistols and finally took out some cartridges and power cells for the weapons.

She cleaned them before  stowing them in her duffel bag.
looking at her watch, she realised that she was short on time so she turned off the lights and exited the apartment. She quickly entered the security code for locking the door, before heading down to  the hangars. She spotted Finch waiting for everyone else to arrive, so she deicded to join her fellow female trooper.

Alan left the briefing room wondering why Finch had been assigned as the sniper for this mission when Kantar had always been Paladin's resident sniper.  Perhaps Yillis hasn't had time to review Paladin's personnel records thought Alan.  He walked to his quarters and entered.  He never even noticed his super battle droids reacting with weapons raised as he entered.  He moved to his weapons store and donned his jet black body armour.  He holstered his trusty DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol and grabbed a blaster rifle for good luck.  He spotted his LJ-90 Sniper Blaster Rifle but decided not to take it as Finch would be handling the sniper jobs on this one.  Grabbing a few grenades he exited his quarters and headed for the hangar bay.

Entering the hangar bay Alan saw the rest of his squad mates except for their new squad leader.  Cutting it a little fine he thought as he waited for the mission to begin.

The ship that would take them to the Abregado-Rae system suddenly roared to life and the ramp opened and descended slowly to the ground, inviting the squad to enter so they could get underway.

Alan looked around to find that Yillis had not arrived yet.  "Alright, let's get onboard people" he ordered.

The squad started filing into the ship.

"What about Yillis?" queried Lucky as she walked past Alan.

"He'll be here" replied Alan, "he'll be here".

Alan watched as the squad filed in and walked into the shuttle last.  He looked around at the squad and was happy to see that their morale seemed to be high.  It needed to be if they were going to complete their mission.

He heard a voice from the front of the ship and went to find out what it was.  He entered the cockpit to find the pilot trying to get someone's attention.

"We good to go?" queried the pilot.

"Not yet, we're still waiting for one more, hang tight" replied Alan.

"Roger that" said the pilot, obviously eager to depart.

Alan returned to the squad and sat down, twirling his blaster pistol to pass the time.

Sitting back down on the shuttle, Alan twirled his blaster to kill some time when Kantar sat down next to him and voiced his concerns over being the demolitions expert when his previous experience had always been sharp shooting.

"I hear you" said Alan, "but Yillis is the Squad Leader and if he says you're the demolitions guy then I'm sorry to say that that's what your job is"

Alan knew that Kantar wasn't happy with the assignment but his hands were tied.  He hoped that Kantar would give some helpful points to Finch who would be doing the sharp shooting for this mission.

Alan too had always had a fascination with sharp shooting and had enrolled in the speciality course of Heavy Weapons Specialist but had always been happy to take a back seat and let Kantar be the sharp shooter.  He owed his life many times to Kantar's skill in the past.

Lucky sta back in her seat , getting ready for a powernap.

"Hey  yillis, nice of you to finalyy show up. I was getting worried."

She looked aroud at the squad, the newest member of their squad, Private First Class odin seemed to be doing surprisingly well for his first mission.

She looked around at everyone one last time before closing her eyes and dozing off. Just for a little while.

Lucky awoke an hour later and looked over at Alan who seemed to be asleep. he sleeps alot. whenever i fall asleep he seems to do the same after awhile.  Normally she didn't ssleep on rides, but she was on different types of medications. one of which made her drowsy, and the doc was nice enough to give her a fair dose of it. So she always ended up sleeping on the journey to missions.

She looked around her, and was startled by the starnge quietness of the shuttle. She looked at everyone and noticed that ssome Troopers were sleeping, others were quetly talking amongst each other. She propped her Riofle against the side of her seat and looked ahead of her at nothing in particular.

Yillis finished up his equipment checks, and he noticed the two sleeping troopers had finally awoke. Checking his chrono, he had a half hour before drop-down to give the rest of the briefing.

"Ok Paladin, listen up."

The squad all stopped what they were doing, and looked over at Yillis.

"Ok you know we're headed to Abregado-rae. Our mission is to get some local resistance troops on our side, then we need to infiltrate the Tundei parliamentary compound. We'll get our assassination targets there, and we'll hit them as quick as we can. We want zero collateral damage on this mission. After neutralizing all targets, we'll head to a safe zone to await orders. Everyone on the same page here?"

The squad mumbled a "Yes sir", and Yillis continued, "We'll be landing in a half hour, midnight here. We know where the resistance forces are, so I plan to make contact with them at Oh-Three Hundred."

Yillis looked around at the faces in front of him.

"This is our first mission together, let's make sure we have more to come."

Lucky was feeling OK with the mission so far. She assumed that they would not be carrying out  a mass murder type of assassination. Assassinating one or more people didn't excite Lucky. Unlike some Troopers, she only liked to know the specifics when they had arrived to the planet, not on the transport itself, for she found it more difficult to think of anything else and was pumped up for what she would be doing.

She didn't let the assassination aspect of the mission bother her, and started chatting with alan.

Hunter Plasma was sitting there with his rifle bored to death. This was a new squad and he knew know one but maybe this mission would help. He saw this one girl who everyone called Lucky, fall but was catched by AlanRJ, he barely knew him. He concluded this squad would be a good one and this mission would be entertaining. He kept sitting watching Lucky and AlanRJ converse, Lucky gave him an akward glance and he looked away in fear of her thinking he was some weirdo. He layed back and relaxed. Yeah this squad would be intresting.

Lucky looked from Alan to Hunter. She wasn't sure what was going on in  their minds. She hoped that they would all be good friends and taht there wouldn't be any future rivalries between the two of them.

She looked over at Hunter and gave him a very friendly smile. Hope he likes the way we work, wonder if he could give the squad somethingm more. We'll have to see what his talents are

She looked back at Alan and kept on talking with him.

Kantar couldn't help but notice Alan and Lucky, though he kept himself to only watching out of the corner of his eye, lightly chuckling.

Kantar scanned the hold, seeing how everyone in his squad was holding up. He then noticed the new kid, named Hunter looking at him. Kantar held his gaze, unblinking, swiftly pulling back the hammer on his rifle, sending a single round flying out of the casign eject slot.

"Take it easy kid, we got a good squad here, I would trust anyone here with my life, let's hope i feel the same way about you and others after this is all over."

After he finished talking, Kantar nodded at Hunter and went back to his rifle, briefly glancing over at Yillis before doing so.

Lucky and Alan both moved to a shadowy part of the shuttle . Alan kissed her "I'm not looking to get into a relationship."  alan understood and respected that.

Out of the corner of her eye she had spied a lok over at Hunter. he was chuckling to himself.

"let's show him what he's got himself into" she told Alan with a wide smile.


Chuckling, they slowly moved towards Hunter, being careful as to not be noticed by him, and once Lucky was standing behind him...


Whack! lucky smacked him on the back almsot sending the young soldier sprawling to the floor.

On a more serious level she looked at him and said "don't get any funny ideas. we are just friends and I would suggest that you keep your mind on the mission and not on fantasies."

She gave him a friendly pat on the shoulder before moving back towards her seat.

Thwack! Hunter had just been suckerpunched in the back by Lucky,
he knew why. She yelled at him and told that she and Alan were
only friends and to not get any ideas. Alan told him not to worry about I hope Lucky doesn't hold a grudge for that, Hunter Plasma thought.

  Apparently Kantar had witnessed the whole ordeal and was laughing his head off. He looked at Kantar, smiled, and layed his head back and went to sleep.
