Everything was happening too fast.  Than Sion had remembered that he was engaging the Preybirds when Will came into the fight and then, all of a sudden, new enemy ships came out of no where.  The new enemy fighters had swamped the space battle and had managed to take out transports.

A feminine voice came over the comlink connection, "This is Rose Thorn, I am in an engagement between a couple of Razors, and I need assistance."

She was Skylla Wolfonel, a recent addition to Kaph.  She had been in the Navy longer than him and had shown to be an excellent pilot.  He would never admit it but he felt an immediate attraction to the women.  He understood her situation since he had been through the Verinian System himself on the way back to Kazaar.  The specific remnant group's Navy was comprised of only the capital ships the system held before the fall of the Empire.  It was very busy fighting the rebellion within its system to effectively protect anyone.  He got why she was here and not there.

"Kaph 5 to Rose Thorn," Kaph 6 and I will assist."

Than Sion swung toward Skylla's position on Demonic's lead.  It had been interesting, to say the least, to have Demonic as a flight leader.  He had never really minded that Kal had the same rank as him; it just made sense that he had the job.  He had been in the VEN longer than him.

Sion charged one of the slower Razors, pivoting to avoid enemy fire.  He swung to the right to avoid heavy fire from another Razor.  The targeted Razor swerved to avoid Sion's wrath.  The enemy pilot made the fatal mistake of swerving not far enough, for he left his six vulnerable to the speedy TIE model.  Than Sion constantly pumped shot after shot into the Razor.  The Razor made many swerves and dives to avoid Sion, but he couldn't shake him.  The Razor's shields finally dropped and Sion got a direct hit at the engine.  The craft exploded but not before the pilot ejected.  Than Sion thought about putting a big hole into the pilot but quickly thought better of it.  The pilot was not a threat right now; right now he couldn't fight back.

Demonic and Skylla were doubling up on the other Razor, confusing it with the Hawkbats' greater speed.  The RS fighter couldn't keep up with them and they soon dropped its shield.  It was only a short matter of time until they destroyed the fighter.

"This is Kaph 9, thanks Kaph 5 and 6."

"No problem Kaph 9," said Demonic.

Than Sion listened in on the wing frequency.  A growl came over the com waves.  It was the Wookie that was on Aegis.  Sion found this concept very hard to understand.  The New Republic propaganda claimed that Wookie forced labor was used to build one of the Death Stars.  So what would motivate a Wookie to join a government that was a shard of the broken Empire?  He didn't dwell on it for too long, if he was fighting for the VE that was all that mattered.

Than Sion took a glance at the transports, such fragile things were so important for the success of the mission.  He remembered back to his first mission on that ice colony.  He would have never imagined then that the enemy that stole the Phalanx was anything but the New Republic.  He would have never guessed that there was a force outside of the NR that was plotting to invade the Vast Empire.

The TIEs seemed to be holding back the enemy fighters quite well.  Than Sion hoped it would be enough to get most of the transports to the atmosphere.  Sion got a few shots off on one of the Razors.  The attack didn't do any real damage to the enemy fighter but it made its pilot wary.  If the enemy was afraid to attack it would be less likely to do damage.  He found it funny how the pilots didn't seem to have much experience, how were they suppose to do much damage to the VE forces of they were fighting in such a way?  It didn't make much sense.

"Flight one, this is flight two leader," called out Jen, "We've got two Razor fighters coming in fast towards your vector.  Shall we assist, or move on to the newly aquired targets of the R-41 starchasers?"

"Thats negative on the assist 5," said Shazam, "Move in on those starchasers, they seem to be going straight for the transports, rather than our bombers."

"Affirmative one, flight two, engage the starchasers," said Jen, "Nazgul 5 out"

Jaden eased the fighter in under Shazam's right wing.  These tie agressors were a fine fighter to fly, but it was a big change from the immense speed of the tie interceptor.  Jaden felt deprived to be flying such a slow fighter.

I miss those interceptors already

"Shazam, flight three seems to be in the middle of everything.  Looks like Coren, Mika, and Gunnay have taken some hits," said Jaden, "Trevor and Jesati are trying their best to help out, but they are outnumbered 5:9 by those razor fighters.  Anything we can do to help out?"

"Alright, here's the deal.  We'll engage these oncoming fighters, the four marked razors along with the two newly aquired marks of those other Razors.  Art, you and Tyrrax jog around and let off a few missiles at those fighters.  Jaden and I will come down on them, hopefully taking down as much of the hull as possible.  That concussion missle fire from you two should easily take out the shields.  Dummy fire you missiles with no lock, but aim near the fighters so that the shield is mostly taken down.  If one of the fighters explodes from missile impact, they will surely take off and regroup again.  We want to get all of them in ones switft kick." said Shazam.

"If we manage to survive that, then we might have time to engage the fighters that have caught flight three up."

"Affirmative, Shazam, engaging fighters on your mark," said Jaden, tracking the fighters in a group on his targetting monitor.  The control stick eased itself into Jadens had as he adjusted the yoke, hit the rudder pedal, and slammed on the throttle.

"And got damnit, someone get those transports through the atmosphere so they can get on the land," said Shazam.

Oh man, this is chaos

The tie agressor slid perfectly into line with Shazam's fighter as Jaden let off the rudder.  His shields had taken quite a number of hits, but they were slowly but surely coming back up with a little bit of power channeled from the engine to the shields.

"One, I've got target lock on those fighters," said Tyraxx, "Nazgul four permission to engage.."

"Affirmative four, engage.  Three, unload your missles at your own disposal" said Shazam

Shazam manuevered the fighter slightly above the trajectory of the oncoming fighters.  Jaden spotted the concussion missles streaking from the tie agressors as he moved with Shazam's every manuever.  They were flying in a perfect unision.

Jaden watched on the targetting screen as the missiles inpacted into the group of razor fighters, taking the shileds down on atleast half of them, and luckily destroying one.  Tyrrax had added another kill to her bag.

"Alright two, follow my lead.  We are going to pick them off one by one from their flank" said Shazam

"Affirmative two, I'm on your wing" said Jaden

They were now 2 klicks from the fighters, well withing missile range, but the missiles would have to wait for another time.  Jaden switched over to linked cannon fire, and rolled the fighter to the left, as both of their fighters came right under the group.

"Engage now" said Shazam

"Affirmative," said Jaden, pulling the trigger as the targetting box went green.  The bolts ripped straight into the left wing of the razor, and it went into a left barrel roll.  Squall squeezed the trigger a few more times, aiming at the other side of the fighter.  The engines and stabilizers gave way, leaving the fighter a sitting duck.  Jaden hit the rudder, sliding back into view of the fighter, and finished it off with a few more shots.

Shazam had gotten himself two kills in the time that Jaden had aquired one.  It would be someone that would have to be talked about later, because it was amazing to Jaden how well of the pilot that Shazam was.  Tyrrax had got another kill, and Art was trailing the last fighter from the group.

"Nice kills flight one," said Jaden

A few thanks came through the com, but they were interupted by a distress call.  There were now only 18 transports left out of the entire group.

"This is Captain Falensarano, the transports have taken some casualties.  Aegis, keep on your route towards the atmosphere with the transports.  The fighters seem to be retreating to their cruisers for a regroup.  Nazgul and Kaph, you also need to get back to your escort mission.  We have a goal here, and it isn't going to be completed unless those transports make it onto that planet," said Falensarano, "I repeat, double time to those transports.  The Vieag, Precipitous, and Corvettes Percipience, Guile, and Acuity are en route to blockade the forces heading for the atmosphere.  We are deploying Taskforce Firestorm to take place of Nazgul, Kaph, and Aegis Squadrons.

"This Lieutenant Commander Alrax Nelant, Commander of taskforce Firestorm.  Alpha, Beta, and Gamma Squadrons, all tie fighters equipped with shields, are taking the place of Nazgul, Kaph, and Aegis Squadrons.  We are operating from the base off of the Stranglehold.  It looks as if the Impulsive and Subitaneous are unloading each a Squadron of Preybirds and Razor fighters.  The R-41 Starchasers have retreated to the Rothow." said Commander Alrax Nelant.

Jaden pulled his fighter around and fell into position with his flight behind Shazam.  Flight two, after noticing that the fighters they were battling had retreated, along with flight three, also fell into formation.  The squadron was at the lead of the following Squarons, Aegis and Kaph.  They were heading at full speed though, to intercept the incoming fighters from the Vieag and Precipitous.  Although both cruisers held only two flights of fighters each, it was enough to destory every transport in the convoy.

"This is Captain Falensarano.  Nazgul, engage the incoming fighters.  Kaph, cover Nazgul as you enter the atmosphere.  We are now coming head on with the Roelk Hapan Battle Dragon, assisted by the damaged assault frigate Rothow.

"You know your duites pilots, make sure you meet the expectations...god speed"

Trevor noted the sound of urgency in the Captains voice, and wished he could psuh his fighter faster. He reached down to scratch his leg and bumped the control yoke, pushing his fighter towards Gunnay`s. He jumped back upright and pulled the control back straight, correcting his flight path.

"Sorry 10, had a little techincal error there." He lied.

"Yeah right, you did that on purpose." Gunnay replied with a laugh.

"Not really...." Trevor replied as he looked ahead. Flight three was to the back and left of flight one, and they were approaching the enemy fighters rapidly. "Flight three, prepair to engage in 30 seconds. Don`t use any missiles, not yet anyways. We don`t want to accidently catch someone in any of the other flights within the blast radius.

After getting the required amount of 'Copy that'`s from his flight, he checked his scanners. There was an enter flight of Razors and a flight of R-41s. He had selected himself a Razor and was already locking on with a missile.

"Ready to engage in 15 seconds." Gunnay said firmly over the comm, just as Trevor let a missile streak out from under his fighter towards the first flight of Razors. It hit the lead fighter and totaly destroyed his shields, and weakened his wingmen`s to about 50% Trevor unleashed a volley of linked fire into the lead fighter and tore it to bits, flying between the two wingmen and pulling back on the yoke, flipping himself around in the middle of his loop. He leveled off and heard Gunnay let out a whoop as he got a kill. Mika had finished off the other fighter and had done a small barrel roll out of glee, before leveling off and selecting a new target that was headed towards the transports.

He got a lock and fired off the missile, but swore as it shot under his target and detonated near the friendly fighters.

"What the hell was that? We`re friendlys!" The CO of Alpha Squadren asked angerly.

"It was supposed to hit that Razor!" Mika retorted, disrespectful as ever.

"Well next time, check you God Damned lock!" The XO replied this time, sounding as if he was about to shoot at Mika out of anger.

"Yes Sir!" Mika replied, suddenly afraid of what they might do to him.

Trevor had chosen a new target, but managed to get a R-41 on him in the middle of the chaos. He took his sights off the Razor he had been after and began trying to hit the R-41 with his aft cannon. After missing a good number of times, he got four or five direct hits onto the shielding in a row. The R-41 decided to speed up and attempt to get a lock. Trevor could hear sirens going off around him as the lock was confirmed and resorted to a desperation move. He pulled back on the throttle, cutting his speed to zero.

The R-41 pilot realized what was happening and abandoned his lock to pull up and out of the way of Trevor`s fighter. As he shot over, Trevor realized how he could take advantage of this situation and pushed his throttle forward again, now being behind the R-41.

He pumped the shield of the enemy with his cannons, finnaly breaking through and hitting hull. Small puffs of smoke which were quickly snuffed out by the vacuum of space poured out of the fighter with each hit, and finally the fighter shook violently, erupting into a plum of fire and metal shards before that too was snuffed out.

Trevor stomped on his right rudder pedel and swung the fighter right, trying to avoid the shrapnel. One of the pieces came hurteling towards him and shot through his shield, being totaly unnaftected by it. It stuck into the solar panel on his fighter, and gave his fighter a good shake.

"Woah!" Trevor said alloud, wondering what hit him.

"I could use a little help 9!" Jestati called over the comm. Trevor checked his monitor and realized that in a matter of seconds Jesati would be shooting above him with two Razors on his ass. As soon as Jesati passed by, Trevor pushed his throttle to 100% and began to work on a lock on one of the fighters. As soon as he got it, he let the missile fly, pleased with himself as the fighter broke off of Jesati`s tail, and then was decimated by the missile, which made no contact with its shields.

"Did you get him with your aft cannon?" Trevor asked, wondeirng why the Razor had no shields.

"Uh, no...I forgot I even had that!" Jesati replied in a dumbfounded way, starting to fire at the Razor behind him. The Razor got some scorch marks on it as the bolts hit the hull directly. No shielding on it either. Trevor pumped the aft end of the fighter and watched it explode before veering away from Jesati.

"Nazgul 1, this is 9." Trevor said, wishing to tell the commander about the shieldless Razors.

"Go ahead 9." Shazam said patiently, as if the battle was effortless for him.

"Me and Jesati just had a run in with a pair of shieldless Razors. You have anything like that?" Trevor asked, wondering if maybe those two had been custom fighters that had gotten rid of the shields to fit more payload.

"Yeah, I have. I`ve also noticed they are a bit faster then regular Razors. I think it was only the first flight`s of both the Razor`s and R-41`s that had shields. The rest must`ve had them taken out for better speed." Shazam informed him quickly, grunting once for a reason Trevor couldn`t see, but assumed that he had just performed a difficult manuever.

"That or a bigger payload of missiles that are their little gifts for our transports..." Trevor said, trailing off.

"Yeah. Could be that as well I suppose." The commander replied in a tone of voice that sounded as if he couldn`t think as to why he never thought of that.

Withthat Trevor began searching for a new target, checking his scanners for any enemy that was not currently being chased by a Nazgul or Kaph.

"Focus all forward weaponry on the Battle Dragon- direct the carracks to take up positions on the weak side of that Assault Frigate and prepare the Bulk Cruisers for flanking."  Marcus Falensarano  was as astute as he was sometimes close-minded.  Although an avid and possibly blinded fan of the Emperor's techniques he was also adament in his duties and just as fervent in his studies.  The Coruscant had re-routed any previous off-guard reactions with equally prococious reversals in power and punctuality.  They'd been thrown into the light of fault and the captain would not have it again.

"The carracks are back in range and converging on the underbelly of the Rothow- further orders, sir?"  The operations crewman looked ernest and ready despite the hazy and rather ominous jump the enemy had just made.  To the captain at least, it seemed to signal that things would be just fine...

"Good, but we need to compensate for that Battle Dragon's approach vector- they'll be trying to attack us from our dorsal surface as well." Falensarano had his hands finely knitted behind his back now and his eyes had slimmed to thier earlier, more perceptive state.  The crewman waited quietly as Falensarano decided on the next course of action.  We've obviously little capability on our chest..."

"Tell the Storm and Thunder to fall into a stagger formation beneath us before taking up positions on either side of the Rothow.  They should be able to discourage our opponent from satisfying their wants..."  The young man nodded briskly and the captain glanced over breifly as he began to stride away.  "Bring our nose to bear in the mean time..."

"Aye, Sir!"

Not bad...  Not bad at all...  Shazam had probably become jaded over his own squadron, although he was persistant in his denial, and the fact that the other squadrons were actually just as uniform and united as Nazgul dawned on him abruptly.  There was the occasional mishap, but at the moment, there were no casualities throughout the entirety of Phoenix Wing.  To say the least- surprising...

"Phoenix Wing, listen up- you've just seen first hand that we can hold off an entire fleet of enemy craft and we did it better than we could have ever expected.  If we wanna keep this up, we need to stay smart-that means no stupid mistakes...  So, Kaph, you are covering our rear-ends cause you'll catch up in the front if it's needed, Aegis- you're front: don't be too 'hero', but try to absorb some of the pot-shots if you feel them coming and think you can.  You are our protect vest- don't forget it.  Nazgul Squadron will take up the port and starboard flanks; lets make it be real smooth-like, now.  Does everyone get the picture?"  Shazam cut off the com with his gloved hand and stared through the dark lenses as if they weren't even there.  His career thus far, in Shazam's opinion, had made him far to used to some things.  He only hoped it didn't get him killed...

"That's an affirmitive for Kaph, One..."  Will seemed to crackle just a bit despite his close location- Magnetic feilds around here?

Chip sounded a little clearer and even more enthusastic despite his less than sunny disposition at the controls of his schimitar assault bomber.  "Gotcha, One."  Of course, the bombers were several times better than the original craft they'd have been flying, and there really wans't much to complain about so maybe it was just the idle threats of pilots- much like farmers like to complain about thier occupation despite excellent crop surpluses and reasonable weather.

The transports remaining appeared immaculate in the blazing ambient light shrouding the craft as they entered the outer edges of the atmosphere.  Nazguls one through six had taken up the left side of the escort with the remaining fighters in the squadron drawing onto starboard.  Some people would have disagreed with the close proximity, but they couldn't afford to be brought off the guard positions of these carriers for even a moment.  Even now, despite perrying various blows from the enemy and making it through a death-trap, there was still the possibility of picking up and taking off.

The lights no longer appeared a wispy blue by a sharp, tentative red, whisping flames about the hull and causing the ship to wine slightly.  The transparisteel viewport took the heat like anything else though, just brightening from time to time as the ships passed through the thermolayer.  Then the coms came back a live as the temporary fuzz dissipated and radio silence was broken to make sure all the ships had survived the initial entry vector.  An omicron appeared to have lost some minor peripheal equipment for acknologing it could go on with the mission- alrighty...  The level and layer of atmosphere at which they were at still granted them some communique' cover: and if there were magnetic interference from that far out, there was no way they would be able to pick up on their signals or their conversations.

After the last check-in had been made, they were coming through yet another level of atmosphere, the skies suddenly clearing- little cloud cover beyond the next layer and even less after that, revealing a bright greeen terrain with mountainous regious with sharp cliff tops as well as winding valleys covetted by lush vegetation.  Maybe a nice place if there weren't cloning facilities polluting it's innocence...  Outside influences suck...

The whining from the ship had stopped but other systems were suddenly coming on line like the inertial dampeners, which Shazam causally lowered to allow for some more g's to pull against him; he'd always preferred to feel out the subtleties of his ship.  He also checked the status of his repulsor lifts and grinned widely as he thought to himself- now why would I need those?

Shazam lightly pressed the right pedal and pushed the yoke forward, bring him into a downward spiral, which brought him below the formation so he could see without any obstructions or intrusions.  Their target landing area was within five miles, so they'd be on it in no time- maybe without any...

"Crap..." Shazam drifted back up toward the squadron as his radar beeped indignantly at him- a full squadron of contacts coming from the east as well as another from the north.  What had they for defenses again?  Two squadrons didn't seem like much but maybe the initial reports had been incorrect...  Yes- the end of this battle was yet to be seen- preliminaries would prove to do little or no good...

"Radio silence is no longer necessary people- we've already got bogies coming from the north and east- my scanners indicate X-wing class fighters, they'll be coming up from the bottom and into the center of our formation."  He took a quiet breath then said- "If you see someone goin after a shuttle, you take them- forget about your original mark, just worry about getting those ships on the ground.  Understood?"  A series of affirmitives went out but Shazam continued-

"Once the transports are down, they'll be making a run for it- we'll escort them part-way then Firestorm will take over, our job is to create and maintain air supierority- don't forget it.  Chase your kills, no need to let the stragglers go and have them come back to bite us: chase your kills....  Alright- be ready to engage..."

(Check the breifings to see what we should be going against first, I'll talk to Art and check them myself in a little bit.  Rock On.)

Will proceeded to turn off the heater, and prepared to brace himself for entering atmosphere. The heat from friction, no doubt, will heat the place up pretty well. But the switch would not turn. Will checked to see if it was jammed. Then he remembered that he was still back in his room. There is no temperature control inside the machine. the temperature inside the machine will always be the same as his room temperature. Heh, almost forgot myself. But this is also a good thing, never have to worry about being freezed to death even if i get shot up and somehow survived.

"Alright Kaphs, brace yourselves for atmosphere entering. It's gonna get quite hot around here." Will spoke into his comm, hoping the rest of his squadron took the hint of turning off the heater that keeps them warm in the cold space, but is not needed for atmosphere flight.

Will eased off on the throttle as the speed increased steadily, the ships were being pulled down into the atmosphere by gravity. Streaks of burning atmosphere brushed past, more appeared the deeper in the ships got, and the faster they went. Will checked to make sure the flaps and air brakes are activated to full, then checked his speed. Even with these, I'm still going a bit too fast. For entering anyway. He checked the radar, everyone was going this fast. It must be a fun ride for those army guys who are sitting in transports going way faster than the maximum speeds.

"We're going in too fast!" Shazam commented. "Reduce speeds to 80mglt. Minimize your throttles, and activate drive fins, air breaks, and flaps if you have not already done so. Then adjust your repulsor lifts to stay with the group."

Will activated his repulsor lifts as ordered. His speed decreased from 110mglt to ninety then eighty. His squadron stayed with him the whole time. "How are we doing back there?"

"All clear, Kaph Leader." Demonic replied.

"All system show green, Kaph 1." Skylla answered for her flight.

"Crap..." Shazam's voice cracked in Will's speakers.

Will immediately looked to the radars from self reflexes to such words. As he predicted, two squadrons appeared not too far from them on his long range scanners. Zooming in, the two dots turned into twenty-four smaller dots along the edges.

"Radio silence is no longer necessary people- we've already got bogies coming from the north and east- my scanners indicate X-wing class fighters, they'll be coming up from the bottom and into the center of our formation. Once the transports are down, they'll be making a run for it- we'll escort them part-way then Firestorm will take over, our job is to create and maintain air superiority- don't forget it.  Chase your kills, no need to let the stragglers go and have them come back to bite us: chase your kills....  Alright- be ready to engage..."

"You heard 'im. Kaphs prepare to engage." Will said. "We'll take the ones coming from the east, and let Aegis and Nazgul worry about the other one from north. But be alert. They might have hidden hangers somewhere, and enemy fighters can pop out anywhere."

"Roger that." A number of similar replies came.

"Sir, they seem to be heading straight for the transports." Than Sion reported. "Permission to engage the lead fighters?"

"Granted. Flights one and two, prepare to engage. Flight three, remain in your positions incase any surprise attacks. You and the Nazguls are the last defense if any of those x-wings are to get through us." Will ordered. "Accelerating to attack speed."

Green forests and small grassy openings flashed past. Not a suitable place to crash land. Will didn't know where that came from, but somehow, he felt the ground calling to him. The he remembered back to the missions he had participated since he joined VEN. Not once, had he stayed in the air the whole time. Everytime, something happened or was planned, and he had to land and take a bit of excursion through territories by foot. In his last mission, he was shot by an enemy craft, and had to hop to a near by planet for repairs. As much as he wanted to avoid getting on the ground, he could feel a pull on him, toward the land. I'm not gonna leave this craft until the mission is over.

He set his thoughts straight, and concentrated on the task ahead. The X-wings were drawing ever closer. Will switched to missiles and attempted to get a lock on an enemy. When it did lock, the missile alarm went off at the same time as the missile lock beep. He launched his missile, and pulled up immediately leveling out in the opposite direction of the battle. The missile adjusted its course and kept on his tail. Will snap rolled to port, rolled, inverted, then a vertical dive, straightened out right above the tree tops, before pulling up again. The missile was stuck on his tail like glue. Damn, it's not programed to explode within a certain proximity. Which can only mean one thing, larger fuel cell, smaller warhead, and possibly a better tracking system than other proton torpedoes. Will checked his radar, he was closer to the transports than the rest of flights one and two.

"Kaph Leader to Starboard Nazguls or Kaph flight three. These guys seem to be using advanced torpedoes. I've got one stuck on my tail. Requesting assistance."

"This is Nazgul five. I see you. bring it up a bit and I'll try giving it a shot."

Will pulled up at full speed, not daring to reduce speed. Speeding past the the fighters stationed around the transports. Nazgul five dropped in behind him as he flew past. He tried to flight straight to give her a better shot. She fired twice, one missed completely, and the other slammed into the back of his fighter, dropping his aft shields by a quarter.

"Hey! No need taking me out!" Will spoke defensively.

"Sorry, you're going too fast. I can't keep up with you in this Aggressor. Come around for another run. You should be thankful that I lowered the intensity on the shots, Else it could have brought your shield all the way down to fifty."

Will took a series of starboard turns and ended up behind the group of transports again. This time however, he dropped the throttle to ninety percent. Fearing she might hit him again instead of the missile, which is doing a quite good job keeping up, he transferred some energy from the blasters to his aft shields, bringing it back up to 100%. When he turned, he noticed the missile was longer than the normal ones. They must have extended fuel cells.

Nazgul five pulled in behind him once again. This time however, she took careful aim, and fired only once, and it hit home. The outer shell of the missile melted away as the extreme heat enveloped it, and the fuel cells exploded, though not a very big explosion. Then, not surprisingly to Will, a second explosion rocked the space between the two fighters. But the explosion was also not as effective as normal torpedoes. So I was right. They reduced the size of the warheads to make room for fuel cells. But after chasing me this long, the fuel inside the missile was mostly gone. Hence the small explosions. Double explosion. The first one reduces the shields if made a direct hit, and forces the warhead through the shield, onto the hull of the target, then explodes within the shield, blowing out a big chuck of the hull, enough to put the ship out of combat permanently if the ship itself doesn't blow up. Nice technology. And it all makes sense.

"Thanks Jen." Will said as Nazgul five pulled back into formation around the transports. At least I think her name is Jen.

"No sweat, happy to be of help. Nazgul five out."

Kaph had been doing a good job of holding off the X-wings, but they were largly outnumbered. mny of the X-wings were making it through their defenses and attempting to take out the transports, which was giving Nazgul and the flight three from Kaph alot to do. The shuttles wern`t very good at shooting down any oncoming missiles they may have headed towards them, making Nazgul an anti-missile until for the moment.

"Damn, these things are hard to hit!" Gunnay cried out angerly after missing three or fours shots at the missile before hitting it. He had been watching a trio of shuttles, whil Jesati and Mika were taking another trio. Trevor had left his flight behind when a cocky X-wing pilot had decided to try and take out Trevor insted of the shuttles, which had probably been the main target.

The X-wing had shot at him after making a missile run, and Trevor didn`t appreciate that. He took out the missile the X-wing had fired and stamped on the left rudder pedal, chasing after the X-wing at full thottle. At first he just took pot shots at the X, and caused the pilot to take evasive manuevers. The X rolled and dropped in altitude, skimming along the tree tops. Trevor followed, hot on his heels, although he dropped a little lower and sheered off the tops of a few trees before pulling up.

That coulda been real bad. I bet he wanted me to do that... Trevor thought to himself as he checked his readouts for any hull damage. Nill. He pulled up and began trying to get a missile lock of his own, which was difficult with the X occasionaly dropping into a trail in the trees. Damn, they have the home field advanatge... He thought, wishing he knew the trails as well as the X-wing pilot did.

As they rounded a bend in the trail, Trevor almost met a wall of trees head first, but somehow managed to pull up at the last second, rocketing straight up into the sky. He was sure he had lost his prey, but a moment later found that he now had a missile lock on him.

The X-wing pilot had puled out of the trees and made a wide loop, waiting for Trevor to pull up hard to avoid the trees. He knew the area well, and was an esspecialy good pilot. This is going to be close, but only one ofus is going to make it out of here alive. Trevor thought to himself, suddenly thinking that maybe this had been a bad idea.

Trevor, running out of ideas for things to try, desperatly reached out and cut his throttle to 10%. The X-wing, not expecting a sudden loss of speed from his target, shot past Trevor and then fired the missile, which no longer had a lock and simply flew off along the treetops until it clipped an outlying branch, detonating it and setting a good number of trees on fire.

Now Trevor was behind the X-wing again, and was still having difficultys getting a lock. Its this Aggressor, I can`t work good with it. He told himself, even though it wasn`t true.

A few seconds later, the X-wing attempted to loop straight up and get behind Trevor again, which almost worked, except Trevor had spun his fighter into a wide righthanded loop and managed to pull in right behind the X-wing. He was dangerously close now, not only for himself, but for the X-wing. If the X-wing were to cut his throttle to 75%, Trevor would rear end him and they would both die.

Unleashing a volley of shots into the Aft shields of the X-wing, Trevor finaly thought he was getting the upperhand in the battle. Just as his shots broke through the shield and touched hull, the pilot of the X-wing cut his throttle and pushed it back up, scareing Trevor into pulling up and going over top of the X-wing.

The positions had switched once again, now putting Trevor into the danger zone. Trevor swore, slamming a fist down onto a control panel. Before he moved his hand, he noticed it hand landed right next to his Aft cannons control. It was still set to manual, and he had completly forgotten it even existed. Flipping the switch and settng it to automated, the X-wing quickly got a mouthful of laser.

The X-wing had taken all power from his shields and put them into his cannons, so he could punch a hole in Trevor faster. But apperently the pilot was as familiar with the craft he was up against as Trevor was. Which was not alot at all. The shots from Trevor`s after cannon hit the cockpit, but insted of shattering the viewport, they just scorched it black. The pilot, unable to see, Decided to back out of the fight, and made a hard left. As he pulled on his control yoke though, he also pushed it slightly forward, tipping the nose of his fighter towards the trees.

The fighter decended into the trees, and the noseof the fighter clipped a huge rock that was sticking out above the tree-line. The fighter`s nose crumpled, and the rest of the fighter sumersalted over the rock, landing in the trees and exploding, taking out a good area of lumber.

"Damn....That was far to close." Trevor said alloud as he began his way back to the transports. "Flight three, this is Flight Leader, how do you have things over there?"

"Well, one transport is heavily damaged, but the say they are still good to fly as long as we give them a bit more protection. So its me and Jesati covering it now, while Mika takes a bunch of others. The rest of Nazgul is split up among the remaining transports, with the occasion pilot running off to do what you did." Gunnay informed him, pausing half way through his explanation to let out a small 'whoop' after taking out another missile.

"Alright 10, I`m on my way back. I`ll be there in about 15 seconds." Trevor said, pushing his throttle to 100% and putting some power from his cannons into his engines, trying to push himself faster wihtout overloading them.

Jaden rolled the fighter over on the starboard side, splitting from the formation and engaging the oncoming fighters.  It had been a while since X-wings had attacked them.  Usually an assortment of pirate fighters would be the attackers, but the planet seemed to have better defenses than anticipated.

"Nazgul two to one, permission to engage oncoming fighters, flight three has already engaged.  I suggest Our flight help out while Kaph flight three staggers behind with the rest of Nazgul to take on the missiles," said Jaden

"Permission granted two, I'll send out the orders.  Stick to standard incoming vector on your assault, and don't get caught in the crossfire," said Shazam

"I'll be fine, but these aggressors are too slow," said Jaden, "You should be happy that you're flying a Defender"

"Well, I am the Wing Commander, after all," said Shazam

"But it makes you stick out like a sore thumb to the enemy, sir" said Jaden

"Cut the chatter and engage those fighters.  I'll follow you in.  Art and Tyrrax seem to be falling behind."

Jaden pulled the fighter out of the roll and brought up his first target.  With only 8 missiles left, he would have to make sure he chose his targets wisely.  The X-wings were coming in very fast.

"Shazam, fire one missile each at target one two and three, and I'll send off another missile simulatiously as you let yours off," said Jaden, coming up beside Shazam.

"Alright, I have lock.  Missile one, two, and three are go," said Shazam.

Jaden got lock and let his missiles go.  They streaked towards the targets a lot faster that the torpedoes did.  As he watched his own and Shazam's missiles, he took note that Art and Tyrrax and now engaged the fighters ahead of them.  They had happened to pick up speed and pass the both of them.

"This is Nazgul two, Flight three, Nazgul Squadron, you are cleared to engage fighters at close range" said Jaden

"Affirmative," said Trevor, "Engaging now"

The missiles connected with the X-wings, taking their sheilds to the ground, and splitting up their formation.  Art and Tyrrax immediately took note of this and clamped onto the tails of the X-wings, taking them down one by one.  Tyrrax with two kills, Art with a mere one.

"Nice kills," said Jaden

The rest of the fighters had now split up, and the distance between the fighters and the transports was diminishing.

"Nazgul flight two and Kaph Flight three, make sure you shoot down as many of those enemy missiles as possible, and engage any fighters if you have to.  Nazgul Flight one and three, keep on the fighters that are currently on our approach vector.  Kaph, keep it up"

Cyleaf's Hawkbat broke through the atmosphere instantly putting pressing the Zabrak back into his pilot seat, reaching up he turned down the compensator a few notches so that the pressure was bearable. Checking his radar he watched the rest of the fleet in front of him proceeding towards their destination.

Checking his readings, sweat began to build up on his brow, wow it got hot in here fast, I feel like there is something I am forgetting Cy thought to himself as Will's voice came over the comms, "Alright Kaphs, brace yourselves for atmosphere entering. It's gonna get quite hot around here."  Cyleaf slapped himself in the forehead, or the part of the helmet where it would be and turned off the heater.

Streaks of heat began to build up around Cyleaf's fighter, easing up on the throttle and following course he noticed that his speed was remaining the same if not gaining some. Than Shazam came over the radio saying something about reducing speed, drive fins, air brakes and repulsors, but Cy was already to busy applying those so he didn't quite catch it all. As soon as his repulsors kicked in the ship bucked some sending him into his chair but than slowed down to about 80mglt.

Cyleaf's radar alarm sounded as red dots appeared to the north and east the few dots became a swarm of them as the closed in. Shazam's voice came over the comms again detailing instructions; Cyleaf listened intently because any deviancy could be his life. Than will came over "You heard 'im. Kaphs prepare to engage." Will said. "We'll take the ones coming from the east, and let Aegis and Nazgul worry about the other one from north. But be alert. They might have hidden hangers somewhere, and enemy fighters can pop out anywhere."

Cyleaf being in flight one was ordered to attack the x-wings head on, he acknowledge by saying "Roger" and proceeded to throttle up. Off to his side as always during this mission was Dodger, a hot-shot pilot assigned to Kaph for this mission, but Cyleaf was fresh from the academy himself. Alright Dodger you watch my back and I got yours, we will make it out of this alive Thought Cyleaf as Dodger's Hawkbat pulled out in front of him. The x-wing formation broke up as both groups selected targets. Cyleaf received a lock on a fighter in the middle of a three man group and released his missile. He watch with a smirk as it streaked towards it's target exploding right before dropping taking out one fighter's shield and knocking one other down to half.

Dodger poured laser fire into the fighter without shields and it exploded in a brilliant flash, Cyleaf's canopy dialed down from the explosion protecting its pilot. Will's voice cut through like a knife, he had a missile on his tail and apparently it was a new type, at that announcement Cyleaf's panel lit up with alarm, he had  bird on his tail as well. "Dodger I got a missile tailing me can you help me out?" he said as he pulled up hard on his stick while hitting he foot yolk to make the Hawkbat spin while pulling. "Hang on, I'm almost there" came Dodger's reply. "Drop down towards the treetops, when you pull up I'll blast it out of the sky." Inverting himself made his stomach queese and he rolled and headed towards the trees, the missile and Dodger behind him.

Wait for it, wait for it he thought to himself as the tree tops became closer looking like green knives waiting to impale their prey. Cyleaf pulled hard on the stick increasing throttle to help compensate, he grazed the tops of the trees makeing his Hawkbat shake, he heard and explosion then the words "Ah crap" followed by a second and then a third, he raised and eyebrow and looked at his radar Dodger's blue dot was not there, Cyleaf immediately went into an Immelman keeping himself inverted, the sight he saw made his heart skip a beat. The lush forest was covered in a large blaze from the impact of something or a couple of somethings.

"Dodger hey Doger, come in, you there?" Cyleaf's voice was scratchy and hectic, Dodger just saved my life, he still has to be somewhere, right? he thought again "Nice trick Dodger, not funny" than Than Sion's voice came over the comms, "Sorry kid, he didn't make it, he got the torpedo, but never saw the guy behind him, don't worry I made that fighter pay."

Cyleaf felt hoarse, the man just saved his life and he was gone, "Thank you Sir" was all he could manage to get out over the lump in his throat.

(I'm in an aggressor, Jaden )

Meye awoke suddenly, frozen as the sound of cannons roared in the distance but peirced through the transparisteel windows.  A thousand things began running through her mind as she slowly drew a blank.  Then she remembered that she'd had a fight with Father, no, Jacre' Roelk...  And then she must have fallen asleep...  She didn't bother to glance at the holo for the time because yet another blast echoed across the mid-day skies.  Or was it mid-day?

The beautiful brown strands of decorative hair styling were now frivelously displaced and rather harsh in comparison to the look she'd displayed only hours ago.  And she felt like crap...  Am I catching something?  She coughed once to feel the familier tinge of a sore throat and rolled her neck uneasilly to note the stiffness-

It hadn't been a half second after she'd opened the drapes that she dropped the beligerent, half-closed eyes trance.  Streaking across the sky in front of her was one of the most impressive displays of power she'd ever seen- Imperials...

Then there was more green beams strafing across the ground and she suddenly realized the, TIEs?, yes, the TIEs were not alone.  Rather, they were accompanied by some strangely familier X-wings...  Her eyes momentarilly dropped from the sunlit balcony, first row seat of the only battle she'd ever seen so that she could contemplate where'd she'd seen that.  Although Varadai City was atlest five miles form the location, it wasn't difficult to tell the fighters and their allined groups.  The sharp cliffs and mountainous region to the left was no longer even subtle, but instead sharp, deliberate backgrounds for the light to play with, creating a sort of picturesc warfare.

She realized that she was daddling again and began to think a little more on what was going on when the door behind her suddenly burst open.

"Ms. Meye!"  Altec four, or Alt as she would reduce, was her bodyguard.  Head bodyguard really- everyone else listened to him for some reason, and all though he was a clone and looked just like everyone else, she thought him somewhat handsome from time to time.  Even beyond that grim and uncertain, almost despaired look, she could see the shining smile just beyond his currently sour disposition.  He wore his hair a little different though- perhaps that's what it was.  Most of the clones had their hair pulled back into a traditional Harjanne Tail.  Harjanne being a not entirelly cute animal, but still cudly found in the forest of Rameis Seven and the capitol world.  The animals ran to about four feet and about fifty pounds, thier tails bushy- the clones mimicked this by brushing backwards and forming a kind of lone dreadlock.  Alt's was short and a little spiky- brown stalks and strands of slightly highlighted portions picking up in the soft glow from behind.  And he said he wouldn't look good with extra hair-work...

There was another blast that seemed to shake the building; were they getting closer?  "What's going on, Alt?"  She crossed her hands reflexibly, taking the posture of most domineering senators, primarilly the ones she was being forced to learn from.

"You are to be taken to the safe house..."  Alt didn't look at her when he said it but he appeared to be breathing hard...  So, she wouldn't argue- yet..

"Are you alright?"  and then the middle-aged man across from her seemed to regain all of his energy right as she said it.

"You haven't moved yet- let's go..."

"Where's the rest of the team?"  She slowly stepped forward after taking another glance at the window from behind.  Don't burn the place down...

"They'll be taking up positions around the building to...  Let's go now, Meye- we can't be screwing around..."

The girl had appeared to be heading toward the door when she veered to the left and began sorting through her bag, containing all the personal items a senator in training needed.

"Picking up more of our lingo, Alty?"  Our?  The bodyguard winced visibly only because she'd said it.  She was still trying hard to get over her step-fathers superiority complex with clones...

"We need to go- now, Meye!"  It was obvious he didn't want to force her for some reason, but she didn't want to push her friend.  Yes- this is one of my only freinds...

She began to head out the door when she finally remembered why the X-wings looked so familier, even from a distance.  My mentor's battle group had blue rings painted around the nose and wings...  Belis and Hapnel squadrons!  That means he's up there!  She would just have to hope mentor would be able to handle the Imperial Forces.

There was only a slight breeze so the air-bumps were few and far between, but atmosphere had it's more interesting aspects.  Thus far, Shazam had only wasted several missiles without having the opportunity to dog fight.  To most pilots, atmospheric was considered to be 'goo' because it made you sloshy and otherwise unable to do what you could in space.  Also, in atmosphere, the advantage went to heavy engined craft like X-wings because they had to the bulk and mass to control their weight in the air.  For instance, when an X-wing rotates just slightly after slowlying down so that one of the wings tips down, it literally slides sideways.  This forces the pursuer, especially if it's a TIE fighter, to either run or overshoot.  Since a TIE is so aerodynamic, wherever it points- it goes.  There's no sidestepping manuevers unless you're close to the ground and using repulsorlifts...

Not to mention that the Imperial group had already been suprised once- elongated fuel cells?  Had they underestimated the RS?  Perhaps their forces were greater than they were letting on...  The Battle Dragon jumped in with it's own compliment force- who's to say the RS is the only group around...

"This is transport leader, touching down- and we're set!  Watch our backs now!"  The leader sounded excited enough but the task of protecting the group had just become about a hundred times harder.  Now that the shuttles were going into a ladder formation, four in a stairstep, they were much better split up and far more susceptible to the RS.  Not to mention two more squadrons of enemy fighters had launched, this confirmed by the Coruscant as it fought the Roelk up in space.  Winning hopefully...

"Alright men- buckle down!  Nazgul Squadron- we're flying low until those new groups come around.  Aegis- take Flight three of Kaph Squadron to escort you over to the set course.  We need to find the road and make sure it's secure...  Kaph!"  Shazam was quiet as an acknoldgement or two came through then said-" You're doing good- do whatever you'd been doing.  But make sure you keep those fighters shy..."  Blue rings...  Interesting design...  The X-wings he'd noticed had three single rings around the nose of the snubfighter and another two on the tips of each s-foil.  A private division possibly?  Either way, they had some excellent fighter pilots.  The Navy's perfect survival rate was beginning to drop- already a pilot from Kaph had died and there would be many to accompany him.

Shazam's own Agressor was practically at full health, the sheilds still coming back to life a bit, but in farelly good condition.  He inverted with a quick snap roll and brought himself down past the fourth line of shuttles, vectoring up just slightly to get some idea of gravity and...

"We are engaging ground forces, do you copy Nazgul escort?  Ground forces have occupied the area and are opening fire on our transports, requesting assistance!"  The same excited leader who spoke of the enemy from above was now shouting about those he feared from below.

"We've got hand-held anti-air units, Nazguls!  Watch out!"  Shazam rolled right about a hundred feet off the ground as a missle lock indicator came to life.  Where were they?  Can't be more than fourty people- no more than a bunker could have gotten here in that time...  Either way- they were hidden within the tall grass somewhere or in the forest creating the crater edge around the clearing.

"Sweep the feilds but try not to light the place up, people- we gotta clean this up before the new enemy forces decide to show up!"  Jaden was keeping real close as more ground fire exploded on his hindquarters- this time only blaster fire.  But good shots...  "Alright- watch yourself, two.  I'm pulling around..."

The pilot got the picture because he backed off immedietly and began to pull into a loop-the-loop, soaring straight above as Shazam forced the throttle to ten perfect and dug his heel into the left rudder pedal, pulling up as he got a good look at the landing site again.  Pulling g's this close to the ground wasn't necessarilly his style, but it would take them off guard.  The break-turn did just that;  just beyond the first landing craft was a group of about five, squatting in the high-grass throwing grenades toward the shuttles.  They didn't even know what hit them.

"Nice!" Tyrrax exclaimed as Shazam's unholy salvo extinguished the RS soliders.  From above it looked somethign like he was painting a 'C' in the grass before lighting up the last end with cannon fire.

"Comin down on the fellows behind your dead buddies, One."  Jaden was on group of three only seconds after Shazam disappeared.

(Okay- Aegis: there's going to be a bunker or two right away and probably some ground forces and blockades across the roads.  Get to it!  Kaph- don't kill off all of the X-wings, in fact, you'll probably have some problems with them.  Use the transports: they have quite the arsenal.  Also, make it seem like there's one pretty good fighter out there: he's the mentor.  Questions? Comments?  Concerns?)

"This is transport leader, touching down- and we're set!  Watch our backs now!"  Cyleaf heard over his headset, he sighed with relief; a big pinnacle of this mission had just been reached. Checking over his radar, still dotted with red blips, x-wings, Will, Than Sion and Demonic were poised in dog fights trying to keep the fighters off the transports and the men on the ground. Kaph's third wing was over with Nazgul and Aegis providing air to ground support.

Cyleaf gripped his control stick tight as he heard Scout's last words in his head again "Oh Crap", Cyleaf thought back to the academy, That was a rough day, hesitating in space during my first real flying outside of sims, I had vowed never to make that mistake again to hesitate, than during atmospheric training I again made a risky choice, the records later had shown my ship would suffer extensive damage and I would have to eject. What is wrong with me, I take two steps forward, five back. Cyleaf sighed coming out of though and back into the battle at hand.

Trees zoomed by during maneuvers, his body pressed firmly into his chair as he spun this way and banked that way. His radar came alive again as new contacts joined the fray. Though his cockpit window Cyleaf saw more x-wings launching from some hanger joining the fray, the strange thing about these were the blue rings painted on their nose and s-foils. These fighters swooped into tight formation their s-foils locking into attack position.

"All right people looks like more food for the Rancor, let's chew em up and give em hell" came Will's voice over the intercom. Cyleaf turned down his inertial compensator a couple more clicks; he would need to use more speed and hard turns so he didn't want to get sick. Increasing throttle Cyleaf selected a target and zoomed towards it, adjusting his target reticule he acquired a missile lock and fired, watching the vaporous trail speed towards its target. The fighter immediately responded into evasive maneuvers trying to shake the missile. It exploded in front of the craft knocking the shields down to twenty-five percent.

Cyleaf raised and eyebrow, "Will my missile didn't take out it's shields, are these blue rings better shielded?" as he finished his question bright laser fire burst up from the ground searing towards the fighter, three bolts made direct impact taking out shields and reducing the fighter to a fiery ball. "Hey Kaph, we'll help you guys out at best as we can, down here, packages is delivered now we'll lend ground-air support" came a transport. Cyleaf smiled to himself, Well I'll take any help I can get. Selecting another target the Zabrak zoomed towards hopefully another kill.

Laser blasted forth from Cyleaf's Hawkbat tracing the fighter in front of him through the air, playing with his missile lock seemed like trying to find a needle in a hay stack no matter what he did Cyleaf couldn't paint him. The fighter brake-turned in excellent percision forcing Cyleaf to overshoot. Noticing his error Cy immediately pulled into an Immelman getting himself height and hoping the attacker follows and pulls into the wrong direction, but luck was not on his side.

Reaching the top of the maneuver and inverting upright the Hawkbat began to shake, it rocked three times as one bolt flew passed the canopy. Cyleaf immediately checked his shields, he rear deflector was down to ten percent, but those three solid hits should have knocked out my shields and inflicted some kind of damage, fingers typing in a frenzy Cyleaf reverted some of his engine power to his shields, making his max speed 100mglt and his shields up to 25%. That was the second time his shields had gone down and the monitors showed some wear.

All of a sudden the x-wing rocketed past him, a Hawkbat in pursuit. "I got him kid, watch those shields, don't want to lose you too," came Will's voice, Cyleaf had again thought back to why he was still going strong and his shields were re-charging than it hit him. "Kaph 1, their shields are seem to be amped up, I was hit by three solid shots, they are taking energy from the weapons and increasing their defenses. They are hoping to take us out with maneuvers and numbers," stated the Zabrak as he again tried to select a more suitable target.

Something about that one fighter bothered him, his flying was near flawless, nothing the other pilots where showing. Turning back towards the battle Cyleaf squinted his eyes and vowed, the next target wouldn't last at all.

"Dodger I got a missile tailing me can you help me out?"

Than Sion heard Cyleaf say over the radio just before the same person's fighter went into a spin, ion streak behind him.  Than Sion had noticed the new pilot throughout the mission.  He had pretty much worked with Dodger, who was a fellow new pilot, for the majority of the mission.  Speak of the devil, thought Sion as Dodger's voice cut into his thoughts.

"Hang on, I'm almost there.  Drop down towards the treetops, when you pull up I'll blast it out of the sky."

Cyleaf pulled down toward the trees, as told, Dodger followed him from above.  An X-Wing swung away from the fight and pulled up on Dodger's six just as Cyleaf pulled up.  Than Sion pulled in to pursue the X-Wing and began to yell into his mike:

"Dodger, you have one on your..."

Dodger took out the rocket just as the pursuing X-Wing shot another.  Dodger probably only heard the first beep of the missile lock alarm when he noticed the torp was right on him.

"Ah crap," was all he said before the rocket slammed into him.

The Hawkbat went up in flames and fell to the ground.  The irony shocked Sion.  Dodger had saved Cyleaf from a torp, only to be immediately be killed by another.  Then Sion noticed that he was now on the six of the X-Wing.  He smirked as he armed one of his own missiles.  He gently pushed his thumb down on the left handle's button.  The torpedo shot away from Sion's Hawkbat and shot and into the X-Wing, immediately shutting down its shield and destroying the engine block in one blow.  The X-Wing crashed down, not too far from the wreckage of the Hawkbat.  Than Sion made a sound of amusement when he noticed that he added another link to the small chain of ironies.  He just hoped it was the end of that chain.  Cyleaf distressed voice came over the comlink:

"Dodger hey Dodger, come in, you there?" There was a slight pause. "Nice trick Dodger, not funny"

It hurt greatly for Sion to have to say, "Sorry kid, he didn't make it, he got the torpedo, but never saw the guy behind him, don't worry I made that fighter pay."

He was surprised at his use of the word kid.  This was only his third mission and he was already using terms like "kid" to new pilots.  He heard Cyleaf's voice again:

"Thank you Sir"

This comment caught at him.  He always referred to only Willtconq.  He didn't even think that he called his flight leader Demonic by that title.  But he didn't say anything about it.  He understood what Cyleaf was going through.  He had felt it over three years ago on his home planet of Kazaar, he still felt it.  He probably would never forget the day that the enemy had taken his parents away from him.

He could still remember the two thuds and the footsteps of the soldiers just walking away, no care for who's lives they my have destroyed.

He held back the tears; this was not the place or time for falling apart.  He didn't feel like meeting his parents in person, not yet.

He pulled away from the area of the crash site and went for the nearest cluster of X-Wing.

Damn, this guy's good. Will thought as he tried pushing the stick farther to the left to try and do a tighter turn, but not succeeding. As long as I've been in the Navy, I've never seen someone this good. Besides Shazam of course. Even I'm having a hard time keeping up. Will watched as the x-wing in front of him moved in behind Kaph 3 as he was at the same time doing evasive maneuvers. Still twitching around, he fired a few shots at Cyleaf, and actually managed to score hits.

"I got him kid, watch those shields, don't want to lose you too." Will assured him as he fired a few shots at the x-wing, reminding the guy that he's not off the hook yet, But Will missed.

"Kaph 1, their shields are seem to be amped up, I was hit by three solid shots, they are taking energy from the weapons and increasing their defenses. They are hoping to take us out with maneuvers and numbers." Cyleaf informed.

"Thank you Kaph3, I'll keep that in mind." Will pulled up again to copy the enemy's action. But he did catch the trick as the fighter in front of him suddenly just dropped out under him. Will dived down, and tried to see if there's any signs of the craft, as he inverted his ship. It was gone from his sight. Will straightened out, and checked his radar for any thing, and saw a red dot closing in on him. He knew what was coming to him. Quickly putting most of shields to aft, he felt his ship rock as shots impacted his aft shields. But with the weak shots and his strong shield, the shots didn't deplete his shield completely, in fact, only down to fifty percent. Will quickly went into evasive maneuvers and tried to shake the fighter.

Will tried various evasive maneuvers, but the fighter continued to trail him, spraying Will with fire everytime he got a chance to. Will checked his readings, his shields were gone. "Kaph Leader to Transport Omikron 2, get this guy off my tail with a missile or something. I can't shake him!"

"Give us a clear lock and we'll bring him down." the captain on the transport answered.

Will lowered his altitude to near the treetops, hoping his plan would work. More shots flashed past him, miraculously, they all missed. When he was closer to the transport, he pulled up in a long immelman. hoping the transport's gunman would take the chance and get a lock on the x-wing.

"Missiles away." the captain reported.

At the same time, the x-wing disappeared from Will's view again. apparently fleeing as the two missiles streaked away behind him, hot on his tail.

"Phew, that was a close one. Thanks Omikron 2."

"We're happy to help, as long as you keep us out of their line of fire."

Will took up position around the transports that still needs to be unloaded to wait for his shields to recharge a little. He's the kind of guy that plays safe. Some might think it's selfish, but he's not the kind of people willing to take unnecessary risks. Some people may be willing to just rush into battle in the name of helping out others, but in Will's opinion, rushing into situations like this without any shields is almost like suicide. Considering the odds of taking out an enemy with strong shields before he picks up one himself. even with low powered shot, on a shield-less fighter, it's enough to blow it out of the sky if shot with enough precision. 10%, c'mon, hurry up.

But Will didn't just sit there though. He switched his sensors for hot body counts, any small group of three or five warm body counts not inside the landing zone were probably enemy units. Putting his fighter in a small dive he found a group of targets, then fired, his shots scorched the ground and left dark burnt marks on tree trunks, also, a couple limp dead bodies on the ground.

More beeps sounded as Will caught the sight of a pair of infantry with rocket launchers, rocket launchers aimed right at him. Will dived to the left, but was greeted with a wall of trees. He had no choice but to fly into the forest. Diving even lower, soon he found himself among the trees. using his sensors, the computer sent out waves that graphed the surroundings and helped the pilot with some aid in navigating through the area at high speeds. Will had to slow down in order to avoid collisions. The missiles however, also slowed down, their computers were not programed for such close spaces, one smashed into a tree, and set the area ablaze.

Will looked around for an exit, if he didn't find a way out, soon he's gonna be part of a burning chunk of steel. Luck was on his side and he spotted a canopy of tree branches ahead with much more sun shining through than the rest. Will his repulsor lifts activated, Will navigated through the thin patch of branches and pulled into an inverted position going not far on top of the tree tops again. The missile, however, tried to cut corner, hoping to get to its target faster, exploded within a blanket of leaves. It probably got caught between some branches. Alright, shields back up to 70%. Pulling into a turn, Will rejoined the rest of his squadron in the dogfight against the x-wings.

Trevor was making rounds around the landing area, with Flight three following in a spread out formation.

"Alright Flight 3, Flight 1 seems to be mopping up the gorund forces pretty well. We just need to- Woah! Shit!" Trevor exclaimed as he ripped out of formation and began evasive menuevers. He had gotten a lock on him, but couldn`t find out from who or were visualy. It wasn`t a missile yet, so someone had eithe rmanaged to get a lock on him from the ground, or he had a pilot on him. checking his radar, he concluded it was the latter idea.

He pumped some energy from his forward cannons into his rear cannon, almost to the point of overload, and let loose on the tailing X-wing. The X-wing was sliding back and forth across Trevor`s tail, still keeping his lock while avoiding the majority of the shots. The occasional one would glance off his shields, and finally Trevor managed to score 5 in a row, which pun ched through the shields, and the 6th shot nailed the Astromech on the X-wing. The pilot, suddenly realizing he would have to get his lock manually, swore and pulledoff Trevor`s tail.

Trevor took this opening to swing his fighter around in a tight turn and begin to make his own lock. The pilot didn`t seem to notice, swearing under his breath about broken astromechs. He didn`t notice Trevor on his tail, and he didn`t notice Gunnay bearing down on him until the last minute, when Gunnay opened up with some higher powered linked blasts and tore through the fighter.

"Wassat one of those one`s with blue rings?" Trevor asked, wondering if maybe that specialty squadren had gotten a transfer of a lesser pilot or something.

"Nope, that one was normal. I don`t think you want to come up against one of the blue rings." Gunnay replied, pulling into formation behind Trevor.

"Yeah, I would. I`m a pretty good pilot, well, I think so anyways. I could take one..." Trevor said, trailing off.

"Or die trying..." Gunnay replied with a quick laugh.

"Exactly." Trevor replied, returning to his quick sweeps of the area.

OOC: Sorry its short, I got rushed.

The thermal imaging on the targetting computer really helped.  Newly upgraded thrermal imaging systems had just been installed into the pilots' helmets and fighters, allowing them to be more capable of all out destruction.

Where did he come from?

Jaden swore as his fighter shuddered from blasts into his aft shields.  Compensating for his turn, he shut the engines down to 10%, letting the X-wing over shoot him, but that wouldn't be it.  The X-wing seemed to be moving faster, and having more firepower than the ones in the first wave.  I'm getting real scared now...

"Er, one, I've got an unusual tailing me.  I'm sure that he's an ace, no doubt, but he's flying like a pro.  He's outskilled me time and time over," said Jaden, "Looks like he belongs to one of the flights that just came in, and all of their fighters are painted with some kind of symbol...description looks something like the regular RS symbol, but there is a black stick on the emblem, surrounded by flames"

Jaden shook in his seat as a missile colided with his starboard side of his fighter, sending him into a lateral roll.  Stabilizers were almost shot, and the blasts from the aft had injured the engines.  Jaden fought to pull out of the spin, keeping his control yoke steady.  Jaden jammed the throttle to full, shooting out of the turn, but the fighter snapped right back into position behind him.  Jaden could see Shazam in front of him for one instance, then gone.

"Two, I think you're going to be very suprised here.  I just ran a check with the Coruscant.  Their intellegence specialists have tracked the fighter group to the same ones we fought on Dubrillion.  The Four Sticks," said Shazam, "I'm notifying the squadron on the other channel as we speak.  You better stay in the air, we need you."

The Four Sticks...

The thoughts ran through Jaden's head as he pulled into a high S-turn, cutting power and dropping towards the surface of the planet.  As soon as he was nearly at the tree's, he cut the power and triggered the repulsor lifts.  A salvor exploded right beside his fighter; the pilot shot a blind shot, hoping to catch Jaden's fighter.  Jaden punched the throttle to full, jucing up his shields from his weapons power, desperately hoping that they would come back, but he didn't have the up to par controls he had before over his fighter.

"One, I'm losing my rear stabalizers, and my engines are trying their best to keep running," said Jaden, "I'm going to have to bail if I can't get out of this.  Give me some assistance"

"Just got a tango, on my way to your assistance two," said Shazam, "Looks like no one has managed to take out any of those four X-wings.  Will had one tailed on him, but managed to get away, and so did Trevor.  Looks like you drew the short straw"

"Stop bickering and get his fighter off of my ass!" yelled Jaden, trying to keep control of the fighter.  Shields were coming back up, but it was a very slow process.  Something was wrong internally, but a system check was nothing Jaden could look at right now.

I need to survive this...

Shazam's fighter flew right above his.  He had come straight on with a missile lock on the fighter, and shot it right into the front of the X-wings cockpit.  The fighter split off course, as if the pilot had lost all control of his fighter.

"Let me take his ass," said Jaden, fighting to turn the fighter into an arc to come around and spit off a few shots at the enemy fighter.  Shazam had immediatelyt taken action, shooting up the starboard S-foils, ripping the fighter in half.  Jaden had the pleasure of seeing the explosion of the fighter that had nearly cost his death.

After falling back into flight with Shazam, Jaden's shields had been brought back up to 50%, but the stabilizers weren't holding.  He could barely stay with Shazam as they strafed the anti-air forces on the ground.

"Shazam, I'm going to need to bail.  My fighter is losing the rear stabilizers, and my engines aren't recovering as well as I thought they would.  The only thing I have online is my shields and one of my ion engines.  Wings are all shot up, my radio is stuck on this frequency, which means I have electrical damage.  I don't even know if I can get this fighter out of the atmosphere," said Jaden

Shazam paused for a second before he responded, as if he had finally taken the fact that he wouldn't see one of his best friends ever again, unless they figured out some kind of plan to get him into another fighter on the planet.

"Two, or should I just say Jaden, I'm sorry to hear that, but there is nothing I can do.  Just bail, and I'll relay your co-ordinants to the ground team.  Seeing as though you do have some control over your fighter, make sure you dump out by one of the transports.  They should be able to help you out," said Shazam

"Sir, Yes Sir," said Jaden softly.  Something had to be wrong with his piloting skills.  In the last missions, he had basically went down in every single one.  Maybe he wasn't up to par to be with the empire.  The thoughts were wiped out as Jaden turned the fighter into course with one of the transports.  He was nearly a quarter mile away from the transport.

"Bye one, hope to see you again," said Jaden.  He left the controls, strappe himself into his seat more securely, and ejected from the fighter.

"Hey, wingman, I've got an idea. Keep on my tail, but distance yourself a little. Be ready to shoot." Demonic said, turning his Hawkbat slightly and increasing speed. As he left the general cluster, two X-Wing fighters broke off to engage. His targeting lock warnings blared, and he cut his speed. Angling the fighter so that it faced upwards, he maximized power on it's Ion engines, sending him racing upwards, the two X-wings flying by underneath. By the time they had realized they had been tricked, Than Sion already had launched a pair of Concussion missiles at their tails. The two republic broke apart and fell to the ground in a smoldering blaze.

"Nice shot!" Demonic complemented his Wingman. They rejoined the fray, searching for another target. Immediately upon reaching the skirmish, Demonic took a series of shots, scattered around the wings of his fighter. "Stop playing with fire if you don't wanna get burned, greenie." Demonic muttered, zig-zagging to throw of the attacking pilot's lock. He took a few more shots.

"Dammit, Kaph-6, get this guy off my tail. He's a horrible shot, but he's still doing injustice to my shields here."

His wingman's response was a bit rushed. "Sorry, cant. I got problems of my own." Demonic looked to his scanner to see that Sion was also being pursued.

"Got it, I'll try and get rid of him myself." Demonic said. He initiated a barrel roll, dodging a few shots and causing his enemy to overshoot him. Righting his fighter, he locked on to the back of the X-Wing and let off a spray of fire from his own weapons. The X-Wing caught fire and, plummeted to the ground were it was blown to pieces by the impact.

He looked back to his sensors to see that Than had either lost or executed his target. He turned and rejoined his wingman.

Than Sion spotted one of the "blue rings."  There had been much talk about the high skill level of the RS pilots that flew the X-Wings with the blue ring details over the wing channel.  It only took him a split second to think up his next move.  He pressed down on the left foot pedal to pursue the X-Wing.  It probably isn't one of the smartest decisions I have ever made but it does make sense, thought Sion.

"Kaph 6, this is Demonic, are you doing what I think you are."

"What would that be," said Than Sion.

"Doing something crazy and not inviting me to join in!"

Than Sion smiled under his helmet as he watched Kal's Hawkbat target the same X-Wing.

"I'll distract him while you try to flank him," said Demonic.

"Copy that flight leader."

Than Sion vectored away from the direct path he had been taking.  These guys were good, but how would one stand up to two Hawkbats?  He kept his eye on the radar blimp that stood for Demonic until its behavior seemed like that of engagement.  Sion pulled hard on the control stick and brought himself on direct vector with the blue ring again.  The X-Wing seemed to be falling for the trick until right after Sion came into firing range.  He was about to squeeze down with his thumb when the missile lock alarm went off.

"Sith spawn," Sion said loudly.

The X-Wing pilot must have predicted this and had a missile armed with Sion's name on it by the time he came in range.

"This is Kaph 6; I have a rocket on my tail.  The engagement has failed Kaph 5.  These guys are even better than we thought."

Than Sion pulled himself in a roll as he went down for the tree line.

"Copy that Kaph 6, I am going to pull out to assist," said Demonic.

"I would not recommend that flight leader," said Sion.  "You would leave your six vulnerable to attack."

"This is Kaph 1; I am open and will assist instead."

Than Sion made an abrupt turn in attempt to shake the missile.  The maneuver put some distance between him and the rocket, but did not shake it.  He was pulling up when he heard an explosion behind him.

"You are all clear Kaph 6," said Kaph leader.

"Thanks Kaph 1," replied Sion.

Demonic's voice came over the communications link, "I don't exactly know how it happened, but the same X-Wing we were chasing after is now chasing me!"

"Sorry Kaph 5, my shields are low and I will be unable to engage," said Kaph 1.

"I will come in to assist," said Sion.

On his way over to help Kaph 5, he got a quick glance at Willtconq's view port.  It looked almost like... No it couldn't be.  It would be imposable for Will's Hawkbat to be flying itself.  Will's black suit must have blended in with the interior of the cockpit.

Than Sion raced in on the X-Wing; the blue ring, not wanting to be caught up with another Hawkbat while he was pursuing, pulled off from his attack.

"Thanks Kaph 5," said Demonic.

The tree's spun in Jaden's view as the seat did a number of flips. With the press of a button, the parachute was activated, and he quickly descended towards one of the transports that had just arrived.

"Mayday, Mayday, This is Senior Chief Petty Officer Jaden Khaar, requesting assitance from transport team at these co-ordinants," said Jaden, reading off the co-ordinants in a coded pattern.

"This is transport Breaking, we have just landed and are setting up a perimiter.  We have site of you Nazgul two, and are awaiting your landing.  We will send a speeder to assist you back tot he site," said a man on the other end of the radio

"Thanks," said Jaden

Jaden felt a bit of dizziness as he started to come down faster, but it was all regular.  The blood had rushed from his head, and now it was coming back.  Jaden brought the seat down in a small clearing in the tree's, detached from the parachute, and got out of the pilots seat.

With first instinct, Jaden pulled out the blaster that was holstered in his side.  It was a small repeating pistol, but it would get the job done if he ran into any trouble.  Jaden turned on the homing beacon on the side of his flight suit, and waited for the assistance of the transport group.

After a few minutes had passed, Jaden heard something not too far off, and then recognized the voices.  They were calling out Nazgul two, so Jaden started heading towards their voices.  But, it wasn't who he had expected...

The men who were wearing the black coats immediately pulled their blaster's out on site of Jaden.  Great, just when things were going good...

Jaden pulled out his blaster and pointed it at the three men.  He recognized the RS emblem that was stitched into their clothing.  They were definently a search team alright, because they had a black speeder with them, and they were all armed with intent.

"Stop where you are!" yelled one of the men.  Knowing from past experiences, Jaden didn't want to confront them.  He was outnumbered, out of energy, and he didn't stand a chance.  But one thing went through his mind as he placed his blaster on the ground and raised his hands above his head.  How the hell did they know where I was, and who I am?

One of the men restrained him violently, and placed the bracers on his hands behind his back.  He was then lifted up, and the beating began.  First, his helmet was ripped off, the oxygen masks ripped from his flight suit.  The matted hair fell out of the helmet over his face, just as a fist smashed into his temple.  It was followed by another blow to his jaw.  Blood splattered out of his mouth as he fell to the ground.  The men picked him up, placed him in the speeder, and put the blaster to his head.

The parachute and the seat vanished before him as the speeder picked up speed.  There was bound to be no chance for survival now, so Jaden started thinking of something, some way to get out of this.

What next?  Shazam grunted away the frustration as he pulled the stick up a little sooner than intended.  So far, although there had been few deaths, an enemy force had jumped in and destroyed several landing craft, ace x-wing pilots were rousting the escort crews and now Jaden was forced to eject.  Then there was the Four Sticks...

It'd actually been a little while since he'd been on ground, but he'd had his fair share of encounters as well.  Now the ground crews seemed to be encountering technical problems everywhere they turned.  It appeared the landing strip was slightly unstable as well, or atleast more so than previously figured.  The flattened grass area was actually about two miles in length, but the sides sloped down so sharply that landing on the edges would be suicide to anyone trying to get out; Shazam breifly imagined one of the troops opening the door and stepping out into thin air.  As for it's actual instability, sensors indicated that the rock formations beneath were moving and the base of the platform was far thinner than the grassy plain itself.  They would have to move quickly.  From Shazam's craft, you could only just see the peice that was holding it onto the mountainous terrain.  So really, it was more like a balcony to the mountain that they'd just landed on, and now they were trying to climb their way up a portion of the valley leading out.

Shazam's job had been strafing the outskirts of the platform while the mobile units and regiments became organized; within ten minutes they were moving out.  These blue ringed fighters were giving some serious trouble though.  The Four Sticks had the blue rings, but they had the extra firey logo where the other ones did not.  Interestingly enough, the ace fighter was not part of the four sticks, instead his fighter had an extra yellow strip around the nose cone that identified him.  Easier target perhaps, but then again, he probably wanted to be challenged. My type of target...

"Aegis Squadron reporting in, here.  We've seen atleast four bunkers, all of which seem to have two turrets and a squad or two of men.  We believe these are the clone troops..."  Chip was talking rather quickly; was he fighting them as he spoke?

At the moment, now that the line of troops and equipment were able to file through the tall grass and get into the valley, Nazgul and Kaph were doing their best to keep the ace squadron at bay.  The Four Sticks, which Shazam grudingly remembered going against, were supposed to be the best of the best- the type you hear about and begin to cringe at the thought of facing them.  The Nazgul commander had thought it mighty suspicious then that they'd died so easilly against a new squadron, and now Shazam knew that a lot of the men out in fight today were beginning to think that they weren't good enough- perhaps these enemy pilots were just too good.  All these near death experiences were scaring them out of their senses.

Below, the heavier equipment groups like AT-STs and larger were covering the front while those who could not ride staggered about in squads.  Up ahead was the junction to the main road, which would probably be riddled with blaster burn and debris by the end of the day.

"Nazguls- watch yourselves!"  On instinct, Shazam pulled up and away, snap-rolling to port then pulling up again to bring him into a sharp loop to focus on Kaph's head pilot.  Apparently the ace fighter group was no longer entirelly interested in Kaph: they were coming Nazgul's way.

"Alright- Three and Four- get on my tail and stay close.  Flights two and three- be prepared to fight low.  Do not let them touch those hills..."  Art and Tyrax were already on thier way as Shazam kicked up the throttle and pushed his sheilds to the front.  "Scratch that last command Two, get in a line- we can't give them any room on their first pass..."  Well, duh!  Three fighters against a hoard of about eight coming down at once was going to look a little silly no matter how you threw it.  Then again- they weren't intending on destroying all of them...  "Link those cannons and be prepared to split off...  I'll give you the command some time before we reach them.  Be prepared."

"The x-wings are spreading into a V formation, One- are you sure this'll still work?"  Art queried quietly as he pulled up a little closer behind Shazam.

"That's why we're ganna jump out and scare 'em, bud..."  How fast are they moving?  Crap, they're ganna have a missile lock if we don't start movin...  Shazam spun slowly first but then began to bring the trio into a snake-like movement toward their original bearing.

"We're encountering enemy fire here, Aegis- take out those turrets or this is ganna end real quick..."  The com buzzed softly afterwords; the commander must have been ready to say something else but held it back.  Something about sluggish Navy response?  Shazam hoped not but was readilly more concerned with the prize ahead.  The three imperials had risen quickly and were now in guns range.  The x-wings opened up without hesitation, almost all of their burst linked and unable to hit the snake of TIEs.  Then Shazam reaquired his original target and flew straight toward the enemy formation long enough to-

"Split!"  Art rolled left and let off a burst on the leader then another toward a fighter two ships down.  Tyrrax did about the same minus the second shot; she wasn't quite able to keep her nose up as she continued to roll.  Shooting while launching a continuous roll isn't as easy as some made it out to be, so Shazam was happy with their results.  Namely, the two initial linked burst that blinked out the head x-wing's sheilds as Shazam let off his own burst.  Really, he wasn't even looking at the X-wing, the two were moving far to quickly for aiming, so all the while he was pulling the trigger, he was looking for that gap he could fly through...  There!  Another burst and he spun to port, bringing him between the head x-wing and his wingman.  Art was already swinging sharply to bring himself onto the tails of one of the x-wings while Tyrrax ran to catch up.  From outside of the group it must have looked like the fastest draw ever, but the three were experienced enough that it didn't seem like a big deal.

"Good kill, one!" Jen said from the lower level as her group began to ascend- they would have to get more than one if the attack group hoped to survive.

"I've re-aquired a target and acheived a lock, firing now," Art announced after a quick succession of linked fire by Tyrrax; they were making a good team.  "Missile away..."  Shazam was now inverted and pulling into the pursuit position.  His first glimpse was that of the fighter he'd shot down blowing apart as it enountered the right side of Rystos Peaks, and the second was that of Art's confirmed kill barreling toward him.  No time- shoot!  The sheilds were still in the front, but the linked blast only sent the carreening craft into a new form- shards of transparisteel.

"Crap, I can't see a thing..." Shazam said as the initial debris hit the front shield, bouncing off harmlessly but lowering the integrity slightly and nearly blinding him with the flashes of red light.  Then he got hammered...  "Shields down to twenty percent- crap!"  Warning lights began to blink on and off as the shields dropped totally and yet another alarm rang, damage reports coming in all the while.  "Looks like I'm missing my behind- all posterior sensors out.  Must have nicked a power supply..."  The glassy rain ended abruptly and Shazam gave his fighter a quick spin to see if it was still alive.  No flight problems- I just won't be able to see if anyone is on my tail...

"Engaging now," Jen announced as her flight opened fire, Art and Tyrrax pulling above the onslaught so they wouldn't become lunch meat.  Shazam was still pretty far behind but he found himself weaving betwee allied bolts like the enemy.

"Got one!" Tokijin practically screamed as the fighter rolled helplessly toward the tree shrouded hill nearby.

"Scatch one over here as well," Darius said as if he'd just put some ice-cream away after the kids had pulled it out for a hundreth time.  Then second flight was through the formation and trying to loop back onto their tails as Art and Tyrrax tried to jump back in.  Shazam was there first though and began to pelt the x-wing that had taken the lead with linked fire.  The shields blinked off on the third shot, but Shazam didn't take another because Flight Three was suddenly engaging.  Rolling left and taking cover behind another enemy x-wing profile, Shazam rode out the allied assault while taking a few shots of his own on the engines and s-foils of the fighter ahead of him.  It appeared the ace pilots were unsure as to where they should be allocating their shield's energy, but either way they were putting it full on one side.  The two upper engines burned out as a linked shot made contact with the fuselage and the craft began to shudder.  Uh-Oh...  Shazam would have liked to keep on them all the way until they reached the deck, but the fellow in front of him was about to puke his guts...

"Enjoy the fire works..."  Accepting the g's, Shazam brought his ship steadilly out of the fray and above the battle as the x-wing exploded, shattering the shields of the pilot next door.  Trevor's group held their ground and took shots at the incoming fighters without hesitation.  Jen's group was just pulling out as she took out the sheildless fighter and Flight three began firing.  Three left...  Shazam began to sigh in releif.

"We're being painted!  Move!"  Trevor should have known better- the rest of the flight thought he was talking about the enemy fighters ahead, so they simply twisted to get out of the enemy's firing reticule.  "Follow me!"  Too late...  Jesati vaporized in a grotesce fashion- the wings spun off and the cockpit exploded in a fireball for the ground and air-forces to see above the soft green foliage.  Silohetted by the blast, Shazam re-appeared from the left and began to fire on the anti-air turret from behind.  The missile tubes slowly began spinning his way, but it only made him more determined.  Setting the depth to a longer intercept course, the linked bolts streaked toward the head of the AA turret.  There were no sheilds, but the heavy armor was enough to hold it up against the pitiful fighter firepower- he would have to abandon...

"Take that you friggen, punk!"  Mika had looped sharply and brought himself up to face the head of the turret, pouring on his own salvo just as Shazam finished his.  This new line of fire didn't give the metal enough time to cool...  "The head stopped turning!" Trevor said histerically just as the tubes were about to face Mika.  The lone fighter let off one more shot, this time linked into the neck joint of the AA, a small explosion going off as the fluid that powered the gun's rotation ignited and threw tongues of flame into the ammunition chamber.  Boom... It detonated and a roar from the army below could be heard as well as a triumphant cheer over the com.

"That's one AA out of commision- watch yourselves now!"

(OOC: Alright, there'll be four outpost along this road, each has it's own squad, and an anti-air gun along with two turrets.  The road is about the width of two average four room houses.  Lol, not very clear, but you get the image- those anti-air turrets will be highlighted by the Army, and you can say that they do that.  This way they aren't hidden like the one that killed Jesati.  The main turrets are going to be relativelly close to that AA, so we have to take out the turrets at high speeds to avoid getting shot up by AAs.  Also, there will be different types of AAs- the first is going to be laser cannon style, the second missile, the third laser cannon and the fourth back to missile.  That main first wall we encounter will be about six and a half miles long with outpost evenly spaced.  Those have no anti-air and are mainly turrets with extra ones along the main gate.  We're going to have to blow it open...  We won't encounter another wall atleast two miles.  These walls are pretty high and made of some good metals but they are not easy to see unless you are right there- that's how well shrouded they are.  As for the blue ringed fighters- there's three that Nazgul are dealing with and about nine or ten that Kaph is still busy with.  Aegis- you are going to be doing close support with these Army people, so feel free to give names to squads and commaders to help yourselves stay organized.  Any questions, comments or concerns- bring them up in Gernal Topic.  Rock On.)

"I got him!" Came a triumphent cry overt the comm to Trevor. It was Mika, who was cheering about bagging himself an W-wing. "I can`t believe it!"

"You sure you got him?" Trevor asked as he checked his radar. There still appeared to be an X-wing where Mika had been, but for a moment Trevor thought maybe it was just a malfunction, or the debris were messing with the radar. But then it moved, and was pulling around in a tight loop to get itself on Mika`s ass.

"What? How could I not get him?!" Mika exclaimed, beginning evasive manuevers and swearing when his aft shields dropped. "Flight leader, I`m down to 20%. Two more shots and I`m a goner!"

Trevor swore under his breath. He didn`t blame Mika for getting into trouble with a fighter, as he knew these pilots were good. Thats why they got Jesati. That, and Trevor had not been stupid enough to fall into a trap like that, and let one of his flight members get killed. He had blamed it on himself since it had happened, even though he partly knew it wasn`t entirerly his fault.

Rolling his fighter so that it was rotated 90 degrees from level, he pushed his throttle downward, causing what normally would have been a dive, but in this case was a very sharp left turn. Leveling off, he tried to find Mika visually, but couldn`t seem to see him.

"Come on Mika, where are you?!" He said alloud into the comm, hoping for some landmark or something to be given to him.

"I uh...I dunno! I can`t shake him though, he`s on my ass like stink!" Mika replied, causing Trevor to laugh uninterntionaly. You didn`t often hear a pilot making jokes when he was on the verge of being vaped, but that was one good trait Mika had.

"Use your rear cannon idiot!" Trevor said angerly, searching the area for Mika and his follower. He finnaly picked a TIE soaring along the tree line with an X-wing on its tail, the rear cannon firing madly, but missing almost every shot. He went to push his throttle to full but found that it was already there. Checking to seeif he could do anything to make himself faster, he realized his air brakes were still on.

Did I honestly have those on the entire time? Sometimes I justneed to hit myself...Oh well, Maybe I bumped them on at some point. He thought as he disengaged them, and was shaken slightly as the fighter lurched forward, attaining its full speed. Mika fly past him and Trevor pulled in right behind Mika, insted of right behind the X-wing.

"I got him for now I think Mika. You`re gunna have to loop around and get him off of me though." Trevor explained quickly as he copied Mika`s every move, and then made a few seperate moves, keeping close to Mika incase the X-wing wasn`t worried about Trevor at the moment and wanted to stay on his original prey. He didn`t.

"Copy leader." Mika confirmered as he swerved away from Trevor and headed away from Trevor and the X-wing. "Good luck!" He said as he sped away.

"You little F-" Trevor started, but was cut off as he was hit from behind from a bolt. Did he break through my shield that fast? No way! Oh crap...I`m really out of it today. I forgot to switch my shields back from being all forward... He quickly reverted all power to his aft shields and checked any damage. A single rear sensor had been taken out, which would make him partially blind in the rear, and dissable his cannon from firering in that specific 'blind spot'.

Trevor made a few maneuvers that would have appeared majestic to a civilian, but were really quite sloppy by professional means. They were enough to throw the enemy fighter off though. As Trevor righted his fighter and checked were he was, he foundhimself headed down the road that would soon be followed up by infantry. The enemy was still hot on his tail though, and He didn`t seem to have any escape. Ejecting corssed his mind for a moment, but he pushed it out. That will be my last resort. Not yet though.

As he got farther along the road, he got a missile lock warning. Checking his radar, it couldn`t have been the X-wing, because the missile was approaching from ahead of him. He looked around and saw what had launched it. A different X-wing had managed to find him, and was ahead of him now. It pulled up and dissapeared, apperently figuring its target would be an issue no more. Trevor now had one finger on the Eject button, his mind racing for a different idea. Then it hit him. As the missile approached, he slowe ddown slightly, allowing the X-wing to catch up. The X-wing was now firering at Trevor's shields, putting them down to 25%. Pumping all energy from his front cannons into the rear, he would be able to get off three shots before the cannon overheated. He only needed to plant two of these on the front shields of the X-wing. His first shot was a direct hit, but the second one missed as the X-wing swerved.

The third shot was fired with the sound of overheat warnings blaring around him, but made contact, knocking the frontal shields out. By now, the missile wwas seconds away, and Trevor pulled up hard. The X-wing pilot was unable to follow the move, as he was attempting to push some power form his weapons into the frontal shield. Not quick enough though. The missile rocketed into the shield which was up to only 2 or 3 percent, and easily pushed through it as it detonated. The X-wing's frontal fusalage area was obliterated, and the remains of the charred pilot fell to the road below, along with a fair amount of smoldering wreckage.

Trevor wished he could have wiped his brow, but becaus ehe couldn`t, he just cracked his knuckles quickly as he began his trip back to the main battle.

"This is Nazgul 9. One of the blue rings is down by one of his own friend's missiles. I got lucky on that one." He said with a sigh and air of frusteration in his voice. He wanted to go shoot down Mika, but knew that he shouldn`t. Maybe I~ll just hit that idiot later....I`ll break his nose or something. Trevor thought to himself as he frowned, considering what Mika had done to him.

The situation had steadily gotten worst since they had entered the atmosphere. There hadn't been any casualties before then nor had the resistance been that effective. Than Sion rolled to avoid fire from an X-Wing. Sion suddenly pulled down and braked, letting the X-Wing over shoot him. He linked fired both cannons and kept on shooting until the X was pulverized. It had been one of the standard X-Wings, not one of the blue rings.

Sion heard Skylla's voice in his helmet, "I have a missile on me!"

"This is Kaph six, coming to assist," said Sion. He cringed as he remembered the growing chain of torp irony.

Than Sion pulled his Hawkbat behind Skylla's, chasing the missile as it changed vectors with the female pilot. He quickly adjusted the knobs on the control stick and took careful shots at the deadly flyer. The first shot missed and skimmed under Skylla's Hawkbat.

"Be careful Kaph six," said Skylla in a worried voice.

"Sorry," replied Sion in a flat voice that was caused by concentration.

He took a second shot, this one was a hit and the missile exploded harmlessly with no one in range.

"Thanks Kaph six, these rockets seem to be pestering everyone," she said.

"For some a little more," said Sion in a crude voice for "pestering" seemed to be a little too light of a word for the situation.

"What?" said Skylla in a confused voice.

"Oh," said Sion in an apologetic voice, "you must not have heard of what happened to dodger."

There was a pause caused by the words sinking in.

"This was his first mission wasn't it?"

"That it was."

All of a sudden Sion's shield was plummeted by laser fire at his right flank. Than Sion swerved down to avoid having his shields drained. Sion got a good look at the ship as it flew over him. It was on of the blue rings, but he noticed a black mark on the things hull that he remembered. It was the same one that had caused him and Demonic problems earlier.

Than Sion gunned the engines and went for the blue ring. It must have been what the pilot had expected for he made a tight turn, which would have blacked out most pilots, turning the table on Sion. Than Sion dived again to avoid shield failure. They must have some sort of weakness, thought Sion.

If they had lowered their cannon power in the name of shields then he would have to figure out how that would be taken advantage of. Then it came to him, if he could try to go head on with the blue ring, then he would have the advantage in fire power. It would be risky, but it just might work.

Than Sion pulled away from the battle again, always keeping track of the specific X-Wing. He would probably be expecting the same attack as before, but this time he would be surprised by Sion's head on charge. He came around again, this time ahead of the enemy X. The X-Wing didn't fire another missile, either because by choice or, more likely, the constant allied missile locks had taken its toll by empty missile tubes.

Then Sion put all shields to forward and brought himself directly head on with the X. His hands were sweating under his gloves as he came within cannon range. He then opened fire with a constant barrage of his lasers. Sion attempted to dodge some of the fire from the blue ring but couldn't dodge too far for the X-Wing could pull out of his high risk attack. He took a large amount of fire.

The shield went down to 90 percent. He kept on firing as they dropped down to 80 then to 70 percent. When they reached 50 an unfamiliar voice opened a communication link.

"You will die today "eyeball!" It must have been the other pilot in the charge broadcasting on all frequencies.

Sion thought this was somewhat funny since the enemy's shields began to waiver, but reconsidered saying when he noticed his were down to 30.

The shields of the other collapsed when his were down to 20. Sion's own shields collapsed when he finally replied:

"no rebel scum, you will be the one dieing today."

He pressed down on the trigger, firing the knock out shot. The fighter exploded as Sion took a hit to his hull. He checked the LED's immediately after. His shields had collapse but the hull hit only skimmed him.

It had happened in only a few seconds from the enemy fighter's remark to his reply, but it seemed like millennia. It then hit him at how lucky he was. If the pilot hadn't been so cocky he wouldn't have stayed in the charge till the end and Sion was lucky that the last hit didn't go right through his body. But on the other hand he had used his mind to go into a situation that put him ahead of the well shielded but low cannon powered X-Wing.

Jen and Darius had become the perfect partners in battle.  Since they had join together at almost the same time, they were able to almost read each other's minds.

"Got an amature X-wing on my tail Dar," Jen said casually.

"Got that amature X-wing in my sights five," Darius replied in a cool voice.  He dove his TIE down and held onto the trigger, spewing emerald bolts into the X-wing's shield, then destoying the astromech unit before the X-wing pulled away.

Jen hit her rudder pedal and pulled onto the fleeing X-wings tail.  With two well placed shots, the X-wing was converted into flaming gas and debris.  "Finished him off, wait, got another on my tail!"

Darius flew in to inspect and plan the attack when he focused in on the infamous emblem on the X-wing.  "Five, fire that rear turret and get the hell out of there!  I'll draw the Stick off your tail!"

"Missile lock six, help me out here!"

"Just fire the turret and evade!"

Jen pulled her fighter up and climbed into the upper atmosphere.  The Stick fired a missile, but Jen's constant fire shot it out of the sky.  Darius rushed in led the pursuing X-wing big and fired several sporatic bursts.  This maneuver resulted in the X-wing disengaging and coming at Darius in a vengeful manner.  "Five, come out of the dive and get the Stick, I'll try to get you a clear shot of him."

"Copy that five," she said.

The X-wing several quad bursts at Darius, but he just barrel rolled and fired a couple linked shots back.  Both fighters missed completely and the bolts dissipated harmlessly into the atmosphere.  "Let's go buddy," Darius muttered to himself.  "I killed you once, I can do it again."

Darius began to tap his rudder pedal and drift to the right.  The X-wing latched on to his tail as soon as it had the chance.  "That's right, follow me."  He fired his rear turret all around the X-wing, purposely missing, but forcing the enemy into a certain flight path.  Jen came down on the fighter with her cannons powered at full.  The X-wing pulled out and sacrificed his shields against the two guns to continue living.

Jen yelled in joy, "popped his shields, let's go get him Dar."

"Indeed," Darius said.

Although with the absence of the group of fighters that left for Nazgul squadron, a considerable weight lifted, Will knew they were still out numbered. Nine remaining, to their seven. Things were not looking good. Even though his men were probably just as well trained as those in the x-wings with the blue rings, but they had been in flight much longer. There fore, more fatigued.

Checking his radar again, Will noted that two were on Demonic's tail.and Rath Thinner was dealing with two as well, one in front, one on his tail. Demonic was in a worse situation than Rath, so Will picked himself a target, and picked up the trail behind one of the two x-wings trailing Demonic. Will aimed, and shot, lowering the ship's shield. At first, it stuck on to Demonic, hoping they would be able to make a kill fast enough that they'd be able to come back and then hunt the one on their tail. But after Will drained the x-wing's shields to 40%, they abandoned the plan, and began evasive maneuvers. Will's target broke off in a snap turn, while the other one continued to pursue Demonic. Not wanting the x-wing to end up behind him, Will decided to put Demonic on hold for now, and snapped to the right as well, trailing the x-wing.

But the result of the actions was not what Will had expected. In fact, the trick the enemy fighters pulled so well, it caught Will completely off guard. The x-wing he was trailing, after a series of twists and turns, lined up right behind a hawkbat, Demonic. But the one that Will left to Demonic was no where in sight. Checking the radar again, he saw a red dot moving in on him. Next thing he knew, the other x-wing dropped nicely behind him, forming a train with Demonic in the lead.

Dammit thought Will as he tried to stay on his original prey's tail while avoiding the constant barrage on his aft shields. After some time, he couldn't take it anymore, and engaged evasive maneuvers. Kicking in the repulsors, Will rolled his Hawkbat onto its port side solar panels, then pulled on the stick, hard. The fighter turned sharply. Following into the turn, the x-wing reduce speed to compensate for lateral g. Taking his chance, Will increased his speed, but kept on the same turn radius, doing circles with the x-wing, neither willing to give in and break away. Sitting in the machine still aboard the Coruscant, Will didn't experience at G at all. Where as for any normal person who's actually flying, such a maneuver would have blacked them out, due to the shortage of blood in their brain and upper body.

After two circles, the x-wing was no longer on Will's tail. Will was all the way on the other side of the circle from the x-wing, and catching up on the x-wing's tail. The x-wing pilot caught the changing positions, and broke off, took a half roll to starboard, and proceeded to do circles in the other direction. Unable to follow through at such high speeds, Will manged to half roll to starboard, but over shot the circle. The x-wing, after a loop, moved in behind Will once again. But Will had already moved from the predicted course. Taking a downward to starboard loop, Will rolled a bit more, and did a half loop. When he crossed the x-wing's path, he was still ahead. Without finishing the loop, will immediately went into a slanted yo-yo, rolling up right as he went. When he got back on course, he was right behind the x-wing. linking his cannons, and switching them to full power, Will shot twice. The two concentrated shots both hit home. The first completely shot through the shields. The second shot melted the engine casings, and the x-wing turned into a exploding ball of gas.

Will let out a long breath he didn't know he had held, and reported, "Another blue ring down." Sitting up, he remembered that Rath had two x-wings on him as well, looking at the radar, he found Rath, with only one x-wing on him. Not bad. Looking up, he noticed how he was apart from the rest of his squadron again. Why does this always happen? It's as if they're trying to lead us away from the group, then pick us off one at a time. "Kaphs, this just occurred to me: try to stay together as a group. If you go off on a pursuit, be sure to request assistance. I'm suspecting that they might plan to pick us off individually."

"Roger."

"Ten-four, Kaph leader."

"Reengaging." Will announced as he sped toward the group.

Suddenly missile lock alarms went off, lights flashed." Will check the radar, nothing behind him nor to the sides. Must've been a malfunction. concentrating on the task at hand, Will once again faced the rest of his squadron.

"Will! Look out!" Demonic yelled.

The next Will knew, his shields were depleted as a missile hit him from under, and a second one due to its closeness to the first, exploded pre-maturely, but caused great damage nonetheless. The shockwaves tore off both solar panels, sending the ball shaped cockpit to the forests below. Will did the only thing he could, and absolutely had to, self-destruct. The technology his ship had must never fall into the enemy's hands. Then everything went black. But before it did, he caught a glimpse of a missile platform on the ground.

"Kaph 1!" Demonic called out, a sense of dread filling him. "Kaph 1, respond. Dammit, respond!" No reply.

"WILL!" Demonic screamed into his communications set, dropping all naming protocol. His eyes started to tear up. He blinked them rapidly in an attempt to clear them, as his face was covered by his pilot's helmet. "It's not possible." He thought to himself. "Will... Dead?"

A sudden Fury filled him. Kal wasn't normally the type to get angry, but this was an exception. He had only one thought on his mind - revenge. Finding the X-Wing that had fired the missiles, he increased his speed to maximum directly in the path of the fighter and turned the power on his laser cannons to maximum. Throwing targeting to the wind, he manually fired a shot at his target's hull. Since he had not established a lock, most of the fire missed, but a few shots found their mark. Demonic watched as the fighter was engulfed in flames, spiraling downward until it dashed itself across the ground.

Kal started taking deep breaths, his heart still pumping hard from the adrenaline. He had to think calmly. Activating his com. set, he spoke. "Kaph... This is Kaph 5. Kaph leader is down." Cries of rage responded to him. "I'm going to take command for now. Everyone, lets follow his last orders and group up. We don't want to get picked off."

Kal targeted an enemy fighter. In combat as fast as they were experiencing, there was no time to sit and grieve. "Will... I wont let you down." He said to himself, totally unaware that the SC wasn't in the fighter at the time of the crash...

Alt was a little gentler than the other body guards as well- his trim hair cut and obviously powerful physique made him stand out from the other clones. He did more than he had to, which was more than Meye would have needed...

"Your father told me to make sure you stay down here," Altec began to continue on but Meye snapped back-

"Roelk is not my father..." From her suite on the eighty-third floor of the building, they'd begun a slow descent to the bottom level of the hotel where the 'secured' zone was being created and the defensive perimeter was tightest. Why they hadn't taken the lifts was her first question but Alt began to tell a story about some family that had been trapped in a lift without any energy supplying it... The image of little children plummeting to their deaths was enough for her.

"We need to keep moving..." Alt continued past Meye, re-attaching himself to the stairwell railing as he went. She was starting to get the idea he was either getting fed up with her or bursting to say something.  Either way, the silence wouldn't last long.

"So Ryshnell is fighting again?" She hadn't moved while she said this but the look she got from Alt said to do so or expect no answer from him. So the metallic thud of dress shoes against steps began it's procession as Alt reached the bottom of his flight and took a right to proceed down the next.

"I suppose he's got his reasons..." Altec seemed to hesitate before saying this, but he seemed satisfied with his vague statement.  Ryshnell was Meye's mentor after all and very respected amongst the denizens of the Remeis VII.  That, after all, was his squadron out there with the blue rings- Ryshnell flying with them more than likely.

"He's up there because he has to be... Isn't he?" Altec said nothing at the outburst from Meye. "Roelk and his crew are putting my people in danger again and I'm going to have to cover his slimy, no good, piece of bantha..." Before she could finish the insult, Altec was suddenly coming back up the stairs at her-

"Your father is a great man!" He bit it out so harshly that she felt herself re-coil. Not out of fear of Alt, because she had a strong sense he wished no harm to come to her, but out of the passion in which he said it. What did Roelk do to get Alt so up in arms? He didn't genetically alter him to be loyal- already checked that... What then?

Alt turned slowly and began his frustrated march down the staircase. Then Meye whispered- "I don't suppose you have to do this either..."

Ew, nice shot, too bad I didn't have a camera... Kind of wish I could get some holos of our little adventures... Shazam had seen his fair share of battles and at times, he thought he'd never be the same. But time and time again he returned to his somewhat cocky, fly-boy attitude- never take life serious: it takes you too seriously already. Then of course, the pilot had wondered on more than a couple occasions as to whether or not he was actually enjoying himself out in the unknown with Imperials... The answer was yes for reasons he could not totally understand at the time, but every once in a while, after a particularly graceful bagging, he knew why...

"Good kill, One" Art announced without any reluctance, which Shazam savored with a sustained triumph. Already on the main road, things had begun to heat up very, very quickly. Aegis Squadron was now under heavy fire by anti-air turrets they could not see, and the ground forces had to wait for turrets to be destroyed by the already overwhelmed squadron. These ground forces were now being engaged by various land-craft that had not been indicated by original estimates.  Thanks again intelligence...  Not to mention the blue ringed fighters were not leaving- yet... As for the Four Sticks...

I knew that was way to easy... How did they escape? Why are they here now? A little more than Shazam liked to have to answer for. Chances were he'd never find out, but he wasn't all into launching a campaign over it- he'd be satisfied with shooting them down for real this time...

The first encounter they'd had was on one of Nazgul's first missions- Dubrillion. Shazam could distinctly remember the caves as well as Darius's obstinate insubordination. As it happened, it was actually Nazgul's first solo mission, so in retrospect, Shazam wasn't too unhappy with his performance and his ability to deal with his Flight Members. Things were different now though. Darius was now controlled to some extent, partially by his wife perhaps- whipped? Who'd a thunk it? And Jaden had managed to get used to his metallic limbs- More machine than man now... Shazam chuckled. And then there was Jen Knight- something of an enigma for him. There were times when the man felt compelled to just sit and watch her, and then other times he thought maybe he should pity her. So he began to wonder what his relationship was with this woman- the red haired woman he'd met out of necessity all those months ago... At the moment, after deciding she was somewhere between a sister and the girl next door, Shazam thought it best to simply accept that she was one of the better friends he'd had... Possibly ever. Art was a cool guy, and extremely entertaining, but he had his ways of becoming very calculating- despite his best efforts to keep from being a robot. This feeling occurred primarily when he brought Talysha around- they operated so efficiently Shazam couldn't stand to be in the same room! Often rendering eachother's thoughts as their own and using a kind of coded dialog only the two of them could pick up on. To say the least- Art was someone he trusted and could speak tactics with. Jen was more his cut-loose and act like a moron because you can type of friend. Not a bad combination, he thought to himself. Many officers would tell you that they had the perfect squadron, but Shazam thought to himself that few could even touch the great group of people he'd compiled. Although Jack was off with his child by now, Shazam could see the wide variety of people and abilities they'd gathered through the last year and he couldn't wait for the next mission... After this one of course...

"Let's get back onto the main road: all enemy specialized X-wings have been taken out. Lock and load people..." Shazam glanced down at his controls and took note of the monitor indicating payload left. Two missiles, eh? He shook his head slightly then eased onto the left pedal while pulling up on the lateral controls slightly. This brought the craft into a graceful upside down loop that brought Flight One right on top of the road. Art and Tyrrax mimicked the move then spread out slightly to allow for adaption to Shazam's next order. From behind, Flight Three was moving in fast and going low to the surface, nearly grazing the steel skins of the greybacks trudging their way up the tortuous road. Flight Two on the other hand had occupied themselves at the entrance to the road with a single blue-ringed fighter and three other normal X-wing escorts. Watch yourselves...

"I've got a call for assistance with Aegis's second flight- it appears our wookie comrade has lost all shields and half his flight is open to attack from these turrets... Your thoughts, One?" Trevor sounded strangely confident which brought Shazam into an even better mood than before. Dogfighting had a strange effect on Shazam, somewhat like the exercise some people engage in when performing a particular activity- like running. All negative thoughts that just made him feel like he couldn't do anything began to wash away and this new surge of-"Go For It" seemed to take over. He could imagine his uncle Hermes saying "You gotta stop smokin that crap," as he analyzed himself, but he chuckled it off and bounced his fighter around to see if he could still do the bunny hop.

"Maybe we'll be able to overwhelm these turrets- take a walk on the initial barracks to the left. There shouldn't be more than two ground turrets that can't fire on us unless we drop below their range... Watch out for those AA missile tubes though. Help take the AA out first so that we can get rid of those ground turrets without any further problems. Make sense?" Shazam made sure his cannons were still linked as he said this and took a quick look at his shields. Back up to one-hundred percent! Could have used that before they took out my rear sensors... I looked like a bat before and now I am one...

"Ten-four, good buddy- let us know if you need a helping hand..."

"Same here- we'll make sure to put down the paint buckets and get there as soon as humanly possible..." And we may need it too- the forces will be at the end of the path in about six and a half to eight minutes. Those walls are going to be tough to knock out if we lose any more Aegis fighters...

"Alright- going down for a bunker: buckle down everyone."

(Okay guys, you're doing really well. Let's see some variety though- get creative guys. If you want to give us some ideas for the base or the story, go on ahead and do so on the general thread. We'd honestly love to hear some new ideas rather than keep on with all of this technical data. We need to make this into a story now- if you have any questions, comments or concerns about what you should be doing or what all of us in general are doing- message myself, or your commanders. Have fun with this now.)

Cyleaf had noticed the dog fights were going ok, no one else had been lost to Kaph since Dodger and that still weighed upon him. His shields had recovered and he was back in the fray, all of the Kaph's taking on the blue ringed x-wings were faring good, though taking some hits, they were getting the needed kills. A trio of x-wings flew by Cyleaf's Hawkbat heading for the transports and ground forces, the Zabrak shrugged those transports had good firepower and had bailed him out earlier.

Putting his Hawkbat through a couple turns he oriented on a nearby ship, this time Cyleaf linked his tow cannons together for better firepower, taking that ten percent back from his shields while they were recharging instead of routing it to his engines where it came from the Zabrak put it into his weapons. This should help against those shields he thought to himself as he began to line up the targeting recticle.

Cyleaf began to pump laser rain at his target in pairs of twos, the x-wing had noticed the first shot striking it's shields almost depleting it and had begun evasive maneuvers. Matching the x-wings break turn he leaded his shots catching the ship as it flew into them, after two successive hits it exploded in a ball of fire crashing into the landscape.

The Zabrak didn't even have enough time to smile as his Hawkbat rocked from a laser blast in his aft section, rocked again as he put his ship though a  spiral and into a s-turn. "Kaphs, this just occurred to me: try to stay together as a group. If you go off on a pursuit, be sure to request assistance. I'm suspecting that they might plan to pick us off individually." Will voice came over the headset, "Roger" Cy replied.

"Will! Look out!"  Demonic's voice rang out in his ears, but Cyleaf had no time to look as that x-wing was still in pursuit. "Kaph 1!""Kaph 1!" but Will didn't reply a dread feeling swept into Cyleaf's mind If they are able to take out our seasoned commander than surely they would make mincemeat out of him, but so far maybe he had just been lucky. Cyleaf gripped the flight stick tightly, making sure he was at full throttle the Zabrak pressed on his left foot peddle spinning the Hawk bat on it's side, pulling up on the throttle made him loop around catching the x-wing off guard and bringing him behind it.

Righting himself he began to pepper the x-wings shields with lasers, moving the recticle for a missile lock. Still firing away he got the reassuring beep and let a missile fly home. Shields gone the missile hit it's mark with a glorious explosion Cy's shields were repelling small fragments, but nothing major.

"Kaph... This is Kaph 5. Kaph leader is down." Cries of rage responded to him. "I'm going to take command for now. Everyone, lets follow his last orders and group up. We don't want to get picked off." Demonic said with just a hint of anger, "Roger 5, forming up on you now" Cy replied as he turned and headed in Demonic's direction.

"Alright guys, lets give these bastards hell." Kal said. "Increase speed to maximum, lets break away." The squadron flew out of the haze of combat. A cluster of X-wings broke off to follow. "Okay, when I give the order, make a sharp turn back in their direction, focus most of your shields to the front, and open fire manually on those fighters." He waited a few moments.

"Now!" He said, turning his fighter around one hundred and eighty degrees, quickly diverting his shields' power to the front. Kaph sent a volley of fire from their hawkbat's laser cannons easily making their mark at the close range. Demonic looked to his rear viewport to see one X-wing exploding in the air, two falling towards the ground in flames, and a few others with minor fires.

"Great work everyone, set your shields back to normal and prepare to meet them as they come around again." Demonic sat back for a moment as the enemy reformed. "Will is dead..." He thought to himself. He couldn't believe it. His Commander, his friend, dead...

--------------------------

Demonic sat in a chair in front of Willtconq's desk, in his office aboard the Atrus. The squadron commander put down his datapad and looked at the pilot before him.

"Do you know why I called you here?" He asked. Demonic had a little feeling of dread. This was exactly the way a teacher in the naval academy would talk to him before telling him he had done something to their disliking.

"No." He said, trying to sound as a calm as possible. Will laughed at him.

"You don't need to worry, your not in any trouble. I've been viewing your service records. You were a member of the squadron before, but you left for a few months. Why is that?" the SC asked.

"I went looking for my parents." Demonic said, cursing himself moments afterword on how stupid that sounded.

"Ah yes... Says here you never knew your family. Did you find them?" Demonic shook his head.

"No, I searched, but I couldn't find anything to lead me to them."

"It's a large galaxy." Willtconq said. He paused for a moment. "Do you have any plans of leaving again?" He asked.

"No. I've accepted that I'm probably never going to find them." Demonic responded. He had searched and asked questions, but he had gotten nowheres. Trillions lived in the galaxy, so it was a longshot to begin with. Without any clues, it was hopeless.

"Well. From your performance in flight school and the mission, and other data, you seem to be a pretty good pilot. As you know, Kaph is rearranging itself for duty. We're going to divide into two flights with the members we have as of now. I would like you to lead one of those flights."

Demonic was shocked. He was still new in terms of service, and young for the military. And he was going to be a flight leader. "I'd be honored, sir." he said, getting up and saluting quickly.

"No need for that." Willtconq said with a grin on his face. "And don't call me sir. Just call me Will, okay?"

--------------------------

Demonic sat in lounge of the mSSD Atrus, drawing with pencil and paper. Kaph was currently off duty, and they had some spare time to waste. Demonic was taking advantage of it to spend some time on his favorite hobby, designing ships.

"Hey." Willtconq said, walking in and sitting down in the chair across from Demonic's. "What are you sketching?" Demonic slid one of the peaces of paper over to Will. "Heh, cool. I didn't know you design Starships." He said, looking over the design. Demonic nodded. "I've done some designs in my time as well..."

--------------------------
.

Demonic barrel rolled, attempting to break the targeting lock his opponent had on him. He was in the simulator, practicing dogfighting with his fellow Kaph members. Demonic swore as his fighter took a few laser shots to his right panel.

"I cant break the lock!" He said, swerving to avoid another barrage of fire. Suddenly a blip came into his sensor range. He looked to his back viewport to see the Y-Wing that had been pursuing him burst into flames and explode. "Thanks Will."

He heard a laugh across the com. "No problem. Lets finish these guys off."

--------------------------

"He was my friend... And he's gone..."

Demonic shook his head. Willtconq wouldn't want him to sit there feeling bad for him. "Alright Kaph, lets show these guys how imperial pilots fight." He said, increasing speed and aiming his fighter towards the now oncoming assault of the remaining, but large amount of, enemy fighters. "For Will."

"For Will." The other pilots called back to him. And the fighting began again...

Cyleaf paused for a brief second for remembrance of Will, He had walked into the office and surrendered his orders, Will had seemed gruff, but that was to portray the importance of his squad and the effect one poor pilot would bring. Will had smiled and welcomed him to the squad calling him "Kid" and telling him to "get his game face on".
"I got him kid, watch those shields, don't want to lose you too," came Will's voice, Will had saved him by intercepting an x-wing bent on the Zabrak's destruction. Cyleaf had felt so out of league than.

Memory lane over Cyleaf turned back to the task at hand, Demonic in Will's absence had taken over as leader and Cy followed behind. They had formed up Cyleaf on Demonic's right, Than Sion on his left and Scout slightly aft and low behind the leader. "Okay, when I give the order, make a sharp turn back in their direction, focus most of your shields to the front, and open fire manually on those fighters." Nodding to himself he began making the entries in the computer waiting for the order to move. The order came quick and left no room for hesitation.

Pulling hard on his stick and inverting sideways with his foot rudder Cy hit the execute button on the console diverting all power to his forward shields. Catching the x-wings by surprise proved to be an outstanding move. Firing linked lasers Kaph tore thought the shields, Cyleaf scored direct hits on raking up one's side exploding it in a ball of fire, shrapnel penetrating it's neighbor due to the tight formation lighting it up with tiny fires. Cyleaf's Hawkbat rocked slightly as he received a couple of hits, passing the fighters he immediately configured the shields to normal with the weakness at the front No need leaving my rear unprotected  he thought.

As if right on queue his aft took fire, taking a few hits lowering it to the red. Break turning and increasing speed seemed to no avail as it stuck to him like glue. Diving towards the trees trying to shake this menace the Zabrak brushed too low skimming the tops. Branches and leaves flew into the air, as he pulled up, as if by shear luck the debris began bouncing off of the x-wing's canopy momentarily.

Looking back through his rear canopy he saw another Hawkbat swoop in as if it were picking up slugs, the x-wing didn't have a chance. It spiraled down towards the ground a big ball of flame. "Thanks for the assist" Cy said "No problem 3, this is Scout by the way" came the reply.

Scout was unlike Dodger was in Kaph before, he had come out of retirement or leave Cy couldn't remember which. The Zabrak shrugged, Scout was another he could add to the list of saving his skin, which seemed about the whole squad. Well someday at least he could be the one doing the saving, just would take some time and experience.

Arturus and Tyrrax were doing phenominally and Shazam didn't think he could get any happier at that exact moment. Then, through the grape find, he began to hear the hollow words of someone's death. Not another one...

"Got a call sign for that pilot, hq?" Shazam queried over the private channel to the Coruscant above, which he could only imagine was a total madhouse.

"Yes, they called him Will..." Right through the heart... Shazam inhaled sharply and closed his eyes briefly. The commander has seen these kids since they'd been brought out of Flight School and watched them turn into pilots. Officers... A great man... He saluted sternly to the skies and continued his questions-

"I propose Demonic take care of that squadron for the time being, HQ..." There was a moment of silence for what was probably statistical analysis or something of the sort and then-

"It's already been done. Anything further for you, One?"

"Nope- I'm good. Over and out..." He was going to have one of those really uncomfy nights tonight... There were things to be done now- prepare the ceremony, invite Jack... Jack... Man, he was ganna take it hard...

Don't forget your own rules- fly. Shazam shook the grief away and transformed it into incomprehensible calm- killing calm. He'd achieved the type of tranquility once or twice, but the pilot never thought he was getting much out of it as it happened...

"We're coming back on that bunker, Flight 1... Shields to the front..." Tyrrax and Art proved just as well organized as he was beginning to think they'd be, moving gracefully behind him although having hard time following through the initial loop. Shazam brought the trio into a strong, sharp loop upward that sent them down like rapid-fire. "Pull out if you don't think you can handle this..." Shazam was speaking off of random thoughts now and could only remember bits and pieces of what he was doing. As far as his thought process allowed him to understand, there were four bunkers along the main road until you reached the first ring of defense around the base. Each bunker had two turrets for ground attack and one for anti-air... The two ground turrets had been taken out on the first pass, but the AA remained to the left of the bunker. The bunker itself looked rather impressive. It stood at least two stories tall with good armor a stout position on the hillside. The wave of troops and heavy equipment the Imperials had dropped were already past this particular outpost but...

"Looks like they're launching extra support..." Art noted and began to pull he and Tyrrax out of the straight dive.

"I'm ganna keep goin- come around for a straight shot..." Shazam said it quietly as he felt out the air bumps that were becoming more rapid because of previous engine wash.

"But the AA..."

"I've got it..." Can't use the missiles- can't use the missiles... Shazam took a pot shot from far away- easily missing the AA gun but alerting it to the presence of an enemy fighter. But that's all you'll do... He also recalled that these little buddies couldn't look straight up- it would break them off their little hinges.

"Contact." This time the linked burst nicked the left hand side of the tower- he could see the two missile tubes wondering is confusion. Shazam eased back on the throttle so he'd be able to take his fair share of shots. Again. "Direct hit... Hull as seventy five percent..." Another... This shot made the unit freeze as opposed to it's usual swiveling action. He'd damaged it... And one more for the ride home...

"Get out of there One! You've got two bogies- move!" Shazam snap rolled to starboard and launched into a sharp loop, burning trees and green ones alike blurring back him to his right as he relaxed into his seat. He could feel his body dropping to the right side a little bit, but he'd long since learned to ignore this.

"Keep on the targets, two and three..." Shazam expected an argument from Art, but received none. Good. Shazam glanced up and to the right to check out what was on his tail but was rudely awakened by the fact he'd lost those eyes on the back of his head. Rear sensors out- super duper...

"The AA is out and so are the barracks- the arsenal that was coming out of the garage made for a pretty big bang when Four hit them- took out the entirety of the garage area then made it's way into the main barracks... Confirmed kill- comin your way One," Art announced proudly. Taking out the bunker was a little more than he'd had in mind for the pass- he'd just wanted to make them defenseless. Now they were non-existant.

"I'm getting painted already- hurry it up!" Shazam barreled left and felt his craft come closer to the tree line. Shazam clicked on the open channel- "For anyone in the area, this is Nazgul One in heavy pursuit, at least two on my tail. I'm coming up over the Right Rysto's peak in roughly two minutes. Any help? I'd be much obliged..." The hills weren't rolling anymore but transforming into sharp peaks and drowning riffs of darkened mountain clefts.

"I'm picking up two of the blue-ringed X-wings from Kaph's group heading this way..." Shazam wasn't about to loose his semi-suicidal calm he'd achieved only moments before.

"Catching up to your tail X-wings, One." Art announced and a moment later Shazam caught some streaks of green lighting up the canopy below. Still trying to paint me, huh? Shazam barreled to port once again and found his rudder control to be paramount as he performed a break turn to begin heading down the mountain. The arc was difficult to maintain at the low left because the elevation changed the entire way. "Coming back down, are we?" Art chuckled as he watched the two targets break off their pursuit coarse and loop up to evade he and Tyrrax. The two of them followed as Shazam experienced a brief moment of freedom.

"Getting painted again- crap, missile fire!" The two blue-ringed X-wings were traveling faster than he previously figured. Kicking the right pedal he rolled right and performed a few funny looking bunny hops as if he were running over speed bumps in a parking lot. Hello darkness my old friend... Shazam found the dark clefts he'd seen earlier and dived just as the tree line disappeared and revealed a deep scar in the planet. Keep it close... Shazam leveled off just feet from the edge of the crack, the missile only a moment away came crashing into the edge and sent a ripple of air force his way. The Aggressor shook violently- the view port was totally black as Shazam got a good look at the cleft. Now we get out before the darkness decides it can't live without us... Shazam, still at a high rate- which he couldn't be expected to recall at this point- stretched his craft it's limit as he came out of the dive and came spiraling out of the crevice.

"Nice."

"Enemy targets acquired- two blue ringers..." The two X-wings hadn't seen their target evade the missile and had simply flown over the dark cleft in the mountain side- now they would see just how an Imperial flew.

"Missile lock- missile fire..." The X-wings had converted so much power to their engines that the missile met no shield but became an open super-nova against the X-wing's hull. "Confirmed kill- messin with the second fighter." Shazam took a linked shot at the second X-wing who appeared ready to pull out now that he'd lost his wingman. This pilot seemed to be getting the picture and was converting energy to his posterior shields- not enough energy though. The two linked burst at close range annihilated the shields and left him open for the third linked burst. The bolts creamed the red orb engines, sending them into a stream of fiery river water. The haze was something Shazam had seen many times before though, so he wasn't worried as he kept close, waiting until the X-wing lost total control and began to slip right into the forest below.

"Confirmed kill."

" So, when do you think they'll put us in action?" Atrick25 said sarcastically to his buddy Krius. They were eating lunch in the Mess Hall on the ISD Coruscant and talking about the campaign currently under way. "Yeah, when the rebels come after us with sticks and stones firing from their cannons." Krius replied back. Even though they had been placed in different squadrons, Atrick in Nazgul and Krius in Kaph, they still got together routinely talking about their new squads and their recent promotions to Leading Crewmen. "Well, either way, we're probably not going to see much action in the course of this fight." Atrick said back as they finished their lunches and headed back to their quarters.

"Leading Crewmen Krius and Atrick25 report to the breifing room for a mission de-breifing". This announcement gave Atrick a few odd looks from his companions in the barrracks and leaving Atrick to ponder this odd order, considering that he was only a day out of the Navy Academy. He quickly left his bunk and ran down the ships length to the briefing room, where outside he found Krius waiting by a stern looking guard. When the guard saw Atrick, he allowed both him and Krius in, who were giving each other some very strange looks.

Sitting in a black leather chair on the right side of the table, Atrick25 looked up to see Willtconq, the Kaph Squadron leader. Atrick25 knew little about the man, but knew he had the capability to lead anyone into a fight and win it. Soon, the briefing started with Will giving a careful description of the previous encounters with the rebel forces planet side and their mission. They would be flying escort with Will to the planet and then join up with their separate squadrons. Another part of their mission was about the TIE Interceptors they would be flying in. For some reason, this didn't bother Atrick at all, who would usually feel weird in a ship different than his squad mates. With the briefing over, Atrick and Krius stood up and left to prepare for their first flight.

Back at his bunk, Atrick looked through his belongings, not being sure if he would see them again. He could not possibly see why, he of all the pilots on board, would be chosen for this mission. He was just a day out of the Academy and there were people on board that had been here months! I must be somewhat talented. He thought smugly as he zipped up his uniform. I must be good. He thought as he left his bunk and headed toward the hanger. I must be crazy. He thought as he slowly walked in the hanger and towards his first mission.

(OOC:Is this ok? Or does it need to be longer? First post )
