I love every Star Wars book I own, but my favourite series of them would have to be the Legaacy of the Force, which is the  current set being released.

SPOILER ALERT!  Comment below is related to the ongoing Legacy of the Force series. Don't read if you haven't gotten that far yet.

you know whats cool about legacy of the force, is when jacen turns to the dark side and becomes Darth Caedus.  And so the alliance becomes the empire.

First off, I have modified the last comment to address a spoiler alert.

As for Star Wars writing, I have really enjoyed I, Jedi, though Star by Star in the NJO series was really the highlight of that story arc.

Non-SW, I'd say either The Walking Drum by Lamour (non-western), or the Emberverse books by Stirling or Lonesome Dove by McMurtry.

Fair Blows the Wind is really the only Lamour book I like. And it's one of my favorite books. Not a western fan. Not really much of a fantasy guy either, although there have been fantasy books I've liked. For the most part i prefer books that concentrate more on the characters than the setting.

Only Star Wars books I ever cared about were the Thrawn Trilogy, the rest can go to hell, I have no interest. Most the star wars books I've tried reading have very boring characters people that are either annoyingly altruistic or extremely stereotypically evil.

Other books include:

On the Road - Jack Kerouac.

Dracula - Bram Stroker
{Comnet Hermit}
-=Wraith PRIDE=-
Diligo, Laus, Sors quod Fortuna.
The few, The proud, The CrAZy RAIDERS.

I have mentioned myu favourite Star Wars books, but as far as non-Star Wars just about everything by Michael Crichton. Hands down my favourite author.

Timeline, Jurrasic Park, Lost World, Congo (ones that have been made into movies that you guys would recognize, though the books are 200 times better than the movies).

i decided to name some of the books on my very long list.

Any book from Dan brown or Steven King.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

Harry Potter

nancy Drew

Eragon (have only read the first book)

NetForce

Any author who does suspense or mystery , and a few who do horror.

the last one i'm gonna put is les Chevaliers D'Emeraude the whole series . or the ones that i've read so far.

There would be more but then the list would be too long.

My Lord, too many books I have read indeed. But my favorite Star Wars books (the only Star Wars ones I have read so far, but my favorite nonetheless) happens to be the Han Solo Trilogy. But my favorite book as of yet happens to be Twilight and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer. I love those books. But I have so many more I could list, but then you'd be here all day reading it, (or you'd just say screw that and leave) so I'll just cut it short here.

Lol- Harry Potter for best series in my opinion- lame, but good stuff.

Favorite book?  I don't usually read a lot outside what I have to, but if I had to choose- Les Miserables was a great book.  Overlly descriptive perhaps, but if you read it again, you're bound to observe something new.  Victor Hugo rocks my face off.

Best SW book?  I loved the New Rebellion.  Courtship of Princess Leia had some good stuff too, though.

Best books ever are, without a doubt, the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett.

It's like "The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy" of fantasy. Instead of parodying sci-fi, it makes fun of fantasy. Lots of D&D and LoTR spoofs, as well as several cliches of the Sword and Sorcery genre.

Each book stands alone, and revolves around one of the series' main characters. They mostly involve Rincewind, a wizard, or Sam Vimes, a police officer. Each book also makes fun of one aspect of society, from religion to how every fantasy novel has a complex way of explaining how magic is used. Really, REALLY funny books. I find myself chortling through most of them. Start with "The Colour Of Magic", if you want to read it. It's the first one.

Wheel of Time Series
Lord of the Rings
Just about anything Dan Abnett (Wonderful author)

Oh, and the parts of the Cantebury tales I could understand, mainly just because it was so darn funny to think of a great Medieval writer like Chaucer writing some of the stuff in that's in there.

I also am I big Harry Potter fan. If I wasn't I don't think I would have spent the last eight days reading nothing but the Harry Potter books. (I have decided to re-read the whole series because...I felt like it...) I am currently half way through the fifth book and I am hoping to get to the seventh before I suffer any huge spoilers. *has been avoiding the Harry Potter thread*
