Hm, jIRC on this computer doesn't seem to be able to connect but on any other computer it is. Is there a way to fix it?
And yes, I'm aware mIRC is better, if I could use it I would, but I'm not allowed to download things onto this computer. In the brightest light,

Where are the channels listed?
I have added the server but it won't connect. It keeps saying the Software caused the connection to abort, I don't see the channels either ...That which we persist in doing becomes easier to do, not that the nature of the thing is changed but that our power to do is increased...

There is a Channels folder in the top toolbar where you can add channels.
You could also just type in:
/join #Vast_Empire
If all else fails, go to www.vastempire.com/main and look for "JavaChat" on the left hand side under "Logistics." You can get to the VE Main Room that way and I'm sure somewhere there can help you get mIRC working! Okay I have tried everything I can find, all the helps...anything. But I still get this message:

I've had that same thing happen to me. Mine, I figured out, was linked to the version I had. I dropped to an older version and cleared it up without any problems. You could try that, but not certain if it will work. Just a thought though. CombatEngineer

I found this hint on the mIRC discussion forum. Once I did this everything connected just fine.
if you get this error every time you connect to a server then also check if you have the latest McAfee installed, there is a 'new' option which by default blocks port 25 and all IRC ports.. yeah, did cost me only about 1 week to figure this out..
* Open Virusscan console (rightclick icon in systray and select virusscan console)
* Open Acces Protection
