Well, the title is pretty obvious, but I suppose I'll indulge you.  Right now I'm looking for people with experience in every feild of web building there is, no matter what it is.  I'm looking for Naval members, but I might call in some extra help if need be.  So far, for help creating the site and the many bits and peices that actually make it worth something, I have:

Website Techs: DJ234, Christo Havoc, Shazam

Graphics: (Gemini?)

Strategy Design: Christo Havoc

Ship Information: Shazam, (Darius?)

Now- I ask that if you have any experience about anything that might have some signifigance to what we're talking about- write it down.  It certainly can't hurt.  I'm looking specifically for web builders (which looks most like it's going to be Havoc's game) and graphics.  However, if you have information that can help people to understand the VEN universe a little: it would be greatly appreciated.  Also, here I will take any suggestions for the new Academy site or questoins about it.  Anything at all= throw it out here!  Time to really put your talents to work.  That's all- les get movin.

I'm thinkin yes, but I'd like to study up on what Sk8's done and why to make sure i'm not making some serious mistake.  The idea will still be to train our members about the site and how to use it but also to make them more independent so they need not ask us for ideas when they're totally stuck.

Now- Will: I like the way you have your links to the left on the Kaph site: do you think you could write up a quick VEN Academy site?  I don't want you to be cutting into your Squadron time, but you would be paid and there will probably be other compensations to those who help.  Right now I'm thinking of the blues we see in the VE for the Academy.  Kind of a dark navy and then a slightly lighter one.  We want the site to be calm but impressive...  Lemme know, Will.

What do you mean by strategical knowledge?  I am a strategist so I could help you a bit in that regard.

Of course i can write up that format and stuff. Tho, i'm not sure what you meant my the blue and the lighter blue on the VE site, cause from what i can tell, on the VE domain pages, it's just blue and gray. Unless if you mean the VEN site colors.

Is there anyone out there who could possibly make some kind of web page that would allow us to compile everyone in the Navy and then put their status next to their name?  Well the people that are in active duty I suppose...  The purpose would be to make it easier for people to post leave and let their commander's know about it.  The list would be of every active person in the Navy as I just said and we'd need a button next to their name that switches into a list-like a tab or something.  Don't know exactly how to explain it, but you click the arrow and it would allow you to choose to become active again or go on leave.  And if you did go on leave another box would show up and ask how long and so forth... Anyone? That is actually a major piece of site work we're dealing with. Eventually it'll be unnecessary, but I'd still rather we get this thing up for now. Anyone at all?

Yes, Kad has something like this in the making- I was just wanting to get something going in the meantime since there's so much going on.  We wouldn't need all the e-mailing, I'm just asking for a list with the squadrons it's members underneath.  Next to the member's name it would say their status.  Next to the member's name they would have a kind of selection box that if you click on an arrow or something a list will come out dispalying status's.  You'll only be able to see yours so I suppose it could get complicated having to link it to the VEN for password access and such.  But then again, everyone could just register on their own and that's how they'd be set up...  Dunno- who wants to do that specifically?  Darr-Ran?

I'll have this information in the next roster update.  But, if you guys want to do something special on your pages, go right ahead.

I have provided some database query methods for the Army to use to extract the information from the roster to display on their squad/platoon sites.  I can just as easily do the same for the Navy.  Since the Navy roster structure is a bit different, I'll have to make some different methods for you all.

An idea for providing access to your admin panels would be to query the existing VE database with the methods I would provide and then all you'd have to do is set who had access to the admin panels on the particular pages.  You could even do it by squadron commander or something.  That way when the roster changed, so would the access.  Just throwin out some ideas for you.

But anyways, let me know if you guys need some special things and/or information from the database.
