As of tonite, the competition is officially open. As soon as I get our third author online, we will post our threads and you may begin posting. Those of us with moderation will be monitoring you posts carefully. If you find it edited or deleted (hopefully that'll be rare) ask questions in e-mail or IRC. I'd like to avoid the OOC: remarks if at all possible. Please note that although you may be paired up with a squad that's not in your platoon: we will be awarding points to your platoon, so don't worry. The officers "leading" your mission will also be tracking the points for your story, and will seperate it into platoons.
Now, the competition will consist of three parts: the storyline, the graphics compeition, and the gaming. And each will count as a percentage of your overall points. Points will be awarded on a platoon-basis, not on a squad basis.
Storyline counts for 50%
Gaming counts for 25%
Graphics count for 25%
The gaming compeition will consist of both PC and Xbox Live this time around. For those on X-Box live, you MUST play a star wars game. Jedi Academy, Battlefront, and Republic Commando come to mind. Knights of the Old Republic does not count due to it being a one-player game. The games must be multi-player. If you own a digital camera, and can take a picture of the final score: that would be great. If not: please have everyone involved confirm the score. You will be on the honor system for this, but if things look a bit "dishonest": this ability will have to be removed. Please don't take advantage of this opprutunity. Also, on a sperate thread: please list your X-Box Live Gamer tags for easy access.
For the PC users: things will go as normal. All of our games will be supported (Jedi Knight, Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy, Force Commander, Galactic Battlegrounds, Battlefront, Republic Commando) with all formats. There is no excuse for not having a screenshot with a PC: so if you play on your computer, you need to submit a screenshot (by e-mail) or it won't count. Also, please register the game under battleboard, as well as e-mailing TJ about the game. TJ will be running the gaming competition for both platoons.
NOTE: For both X-BOX and PC games, official rules apply. No force can be used (besides jump) unless you are in the DJO. If you are in the DJO, use only what force you're allowed. Same goes for sabers. SOME exceptions may apply, but please see TJ or myself for what those may be (however rare).
The graphics competition will be run by me, and will consist of two parts: avatars and graphics. For those making avatars, please submit an avatar that is either platoon or army based. One winner from each platoon will recieve the pleasure of getting their avatar added to the main list. This of course will be on top of getting credit for the competition and any other rewards coming to you.
The other part of the graphics competition will consist of straight-out graphics making. You can create some logo representing your platoon, maybe a scene from the story, there's also the option of making something representing the ve or army as a whole, or just something "star-warzy".
One final option is going to earn you 10 submissions worth for your platoon. If any of you are creative enough to compile a Windows Blinds Theme or Windows XP theme: by all means, submit it. Also fitting in this category, and counting as only one submission each is custom Icons for the computer.
NOTE: In all graphics options, work must be your own, and you can't take it in whole or in part from anyone else. Also, for the icons: don't send them in, if we need a seperate program just to use them.

One question here, in the gaming portion. If you are saying we who aren't DJO can't use sabers, does that mean Sam, Zafo, Giovanni, and I can't play JO saber duels? The one thing that we really do. And, we are the only ones in a long time who I know of that have played JO duels in the last month. Are we going to be forced to play FFA with guns? Or did I just read that wrong? I don't even belong on to the guns portion of the battleboard... Just wandering. Also, I've never taken a screenshot in my life, so if someone could tell me how, that would be great. If this isn't the place for these questions, then just delete this and I'll know to ask Rizzit and TJ personally.

Saber duels are the one exception I spoke of. In the case of a duel: sabers will be allowed. In the case of FFA though (or CTF) Guns are the preferred weapon unless you're in the DJO. Sorry for the confusion. -----------------------

Erm... A question about Xbox Live. Some games have online stat trackers, are we allowed to post URL's to the game we play in?
Also, do the games have to be against other members, or can we post personal stats to other games? -----------------------

On a side note, I'd like to say that I'm impressed with the posting that's been done in one day. Tomorrow (or today depends on when you're reading this) I'd like to move us upto the dominion and get started. For reference: TJ is getting dropped first, then my group, Cos is third if he doesn't shuttle down to Devoran. He really needs to try and avoid detection with his group... -----------------------

The URL stattracker for xbox live is rather simple. I know for some games (ex: Halo 2, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory) have systems that take the results of the games and post them online. One would simply take the URL of the page the games results are on and link it.
I'm not sure if any of the starwars games have online stattrackers, but I can check. Also, if it hasn't been started yet, you want me to start the Gamertag topic? -----------------------
