i'm too tired/lazy to read all the post.

just tell me. is this for CS:Source version only or does it also work for lower version (mine using stand-alone 1.6)

does installing the mod make the game required valid CD-key to play on-line? (some mod actually do)

if both are yes, no need to see the rest, i won't dl-it.

will it kill all my bot path/command/script ect ect ? d

which specific part that shall be overwrite when i install it (so i don't need to do too much back-up)

well, it's for CS 1.6 only and it doesn't  require you to have the cd-key (i have used the mod and i know it)

This brings up memories.....
WC3FT is very good,with AMX 9.9.0 and the latest Meta. Theres also Matrix,'superhero' and lotsa others put in by script-freaks.

But starwars? Installing is usually the same but a Starwars mod? Probably would only have SW models i guess...

What characters are available? (Stormtrooper, Rebel Soldier, etc.)
What maps are offered? (Ex.- Tattooine)
Is the entire basis of the game still in tact, or altered?

Eeeehhh

Lemme give you an example of what happens if a person installs WC3FT (Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne) mod on his gameserver on CS.

When you enter his server you'll be asked to press a number from 1 to 0 to pick a 'race' then you pick your team,or the other way round.
By getting objectives done (bomb-planting,hostage rescuing but also killing enemies) you get experience points,when you have enough you level-up,allowing you to pick an extra ability or make one stronger.
Theres lots of other things to it though,admins have more commands to,for example give an individual extra exp and stuff,and there are also extra commands that let you do mod-specific things,typing shopmenu for example opens a small menu with all kinds of items useful in combat,also its possible to see what powers you and others have,to change your race after the round (exp will be kept for that race) and much more.

So,the game itself is unaltered but there are things being added such as special effects (flashes,sprites and sounds) and with these comes a whole new gaming experience really.

Most mods are alike and one called the Matrix mod is basically the same but with different names and powers. For CS players above is all very logical and i expect that everyone can play it without problems.

The Warcraft and Matrix mods are ok...(Warcraft is my favorite), but...wait, how the hell do you guys know so much?? Its beginning to scare me actually.

If im not mistaken (and i most likely am mistaken) CS WAS a mod. But it isnt a mod anymore (however that happens...).

these are mods for a mod. as simple as that. it's really not that hard to install it, just follow the instructions on the website.

A mod for a mod...
I think they would make another version so mods could be created, but thats just me...
It seems weird to make an expansion (which is what a mod is) for another expansion. <----Sounds crazy right? Hmmmmm

In a nut shell:

CS started as a mod for Half Life.

It became so popular it got it's own full stand alone game.

Now people make mods for that.

Thats what I'm saying.
You can purchase the first stand-alone version in stores (1.5 I believe) and add mods to that.

I think there are small alterations like this what was posted here for CS who only add some things but don't totally change the gameplay.
What CS was to Half Life is if I got it right a total conversion. These tc's  use, in their early stage, not only the games graphic engine but a lot of its resources (sounds textures etc).

Right now theres CS 1.5,CS 1.6,CSCZ and CS-Source being played.
And if you have it CS 1.1 too.

+ lots of other Steam third-party games.
