Back to what I was going to say:I'm open to basically all types of music, but my main favorites are Hip-Hop, R&B, Rap, and just good "soul" music. Thats why I like R&B so much. -----------------------

I like hardcore bands like Norma Jean and Poison The Well. But my "all time favorite band" is Thursday. My "favorite band"(i have a new one everyday) is The Mars Volta. I dont get how anyone could listen to rap. I can understand R&B and "soul" music but rap! (except for early rap when there wasnt so much crap in it.) |

Just take a look at how I speak here... What do you think I'm going to say about a topic like this?
Im not actually a hevel metal man and I'm most certainly no R & B band wagon jumping teen who thinks the only way to fulfill my life is to devote myself to the television channel MTV and let it have its way with me. Yea, I just don't appreciate it as much I suppose. Or maybe it's just harder to find something that isn't extremely similar to a previous song...
I am a classic rock man. Or alternitive. Whatever, I'm just for the rocking in general. I play guitar, and whatever has that cool electric sound will probably get me... Heavy metal isn't necessarilly that way... Complete 'noise' isn't my thing. My idea of a good time isn't listening to someone rub the imput of thier guitar against the chord running to the amp. The reaction is funny though.

i like heavy metal as driving music, it makes good background, alot of stuff just seems to slow and boring to Drive to, like White Zombie works perfectly, its not great inside, nothings happening music, but i havent found a band i like driving to more. -----------------------

Well, I like some metal ya know, but I can't stand sitting there with a bunch of head bangers listening to people screaming as loud as they can and playing as fast as possible. Then of course, they bash their guitars to peices... Why can't they give one to me?

Nobody sings about love anymore, I mean, I listen to old school "soul" music and R&B, along with modern day R&B and Rap and Hip-Hop. I agree, some rappers are crazy and make no sense, but the people I listen too incorporate actual experiences they've had into their music, its inspiring too me. I always listen to a little Rap before I play a basketball or football game, it gets me pumped up. -----------------------

Like I said, music has its place everywhere. And my teacher actually said therres three themes to music you will almost always here... 'Love, War, and I can't remember the last one as of just now.' If you ask me, everyone is just copying eachother lately, no idea is its own as of late. Props to those who try though. If you ever watch the OC they bring on a lot bands that are basically unknown but they all sound pretty different.
I do like some rap and R&B... I'm a lot more open minded than I use to be. Back in the day I'd just say your wrong and the music sucks... That'd be quite incorrect though and I know better now. Theres good music everwhere. Most bad music can become good music. It surrounds us, lol. -----------------------

I love Papa roach, Drowning pool, system of a down, Linkin Park...etc, metal i guess

Vint, i skipped over your post, do you know what the rap music was about?...what do you mean early rap?...i know the reason why my dad hates rap is cause of the war he went to and stuff, and rap came out the same time he went to war, i am not going to dicuss rap here, I am talking about the early rap. Its sensitve to some people, like my dad for instance..lol... i guess....im not against rap, i mean i like the new rpo, though i wouldn't listen the songs out of free will.

Fifty has some cool music, his songs usually have a good beat to them, some of the lyrics are messed up sometimes, but other than that, hes cool. "Just a Lil Bit" makes you wanna dance and/or grind. Hehe -----------------------

As for modern R&B and rap singing about love. That's a farce. They sing of sex, which is a damn lot different than love. Heck, even some of the best soul music was about straight up sex, come to think of it. Doesn't make it bad, but be honest. Defend your music all you want, but don't misrepresent it.
Personally, I still listen to some old school Floyd, punk, pre-hair metal, blues when I'm in the mood, and Coltrane-ish jazz. I like some new bands, mostly what Three turns me on too, or Raz's odd favorites. I'm too damn old to find new music myself. I still pretty much listen to Rage or something political or violent as I drive along. Like Snipes says, Zombie works okay, but old Slipknot/Mudvayne do it for me too.
Rap doesn't exist anymore so I can safely say I'm a fan of it. Hip-hop and R&B don't impress me. Come to think of it, R&B doesn't really exist as it was when I was a kid. Currently, lots of singers who can harmonize really well, but not sing. Great for a choir, but not a solo act.
And other than Chipmunk, I don't know anyone under the age of 25 who listens to country. That said, even he listens to Big & Rich, who (along with their pals Gretchen Wilson and Cowboy Troy) may well be the agents of destruction of the entire genre. (Yes, Chip, I know of them, just don't like the music.) -----------------------

I am very eclectic when it comes to my music choices. I like everything from Drowning Pool, SlipKnot, Rammstein, Korn, Linkin Park, Weezer, Nirvana, Blink182, Green Day, Hoobastank, to Martina McBride, Casting Crowns, Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, AC/DC, Poison, Guns and Roses, Meat Loaf, Billy Joel, Elton John, Peter, Paul, and Mary..
I guess I noticed I don't have any Rap or R&B in there. I don't really like to just listen to it. That stuff I leave for dances and such. -----------------------
