Well here's your chance to earn it!
Announcing...the Bi-weekly Vast Empire Star Wars Jeopardy Contest!
*cues the Jeopardy music*
I'll be your host....Angel Trebek!.. Ok just Angel. Moving on! Every other sunday, immediately following the meeting (starting July 10) I will be hosting VE Jeopardy.
The questions will cover anything and everything from the SW universe, including: movies, before the movies, Expanded Universe (pre NJO) and even the dreaded VE HISTORY!
*pauses for screams of terror*
I will be releasing a copy of the coming weeks game board shortly after the meeting one week before the game. On it I will put the categories and question values, and the link will be posted in this topic. This will give you overachievers a chance to study and brush up on your knowledge.
RULES
Now the rules will be simple. If you've ever seen Jeopardy, its the same deal:
-A dice script will be used to determine who gets to select the first question (category and point value)
-I will have the channel in +m status. Everyone will be given voice in the channel at the start of each question.
-I will write the question once. To buzz in, simply type an "!".
-I will state your name, and you will have 10 seconds to type your answer. If it is wrong, incomplete, or you can't answer in that time, I will remove your voice and give the question to the second person who rang in.
-Continues as such until no one can answer, or no one wishes to
-Wrong answers will be deducted from your total, and right answers will be added (I will be keeping the official score which will be posted at the conclusion of each question.)
-Whoever answers correctly will gain control of the board and select the next question.
-There will be two Daily Double (TM) questions hidden in the board. This question can be answered only by the person who selected it, and they can wager anywhere from 0 to their total amount of ICs.
Final Jeopardy Round
-I will give a category to everyone.
-They will then PM me their wagers.
-Upon receiving all wagers, I will give the question and 15 seconds for a PMd answer.
-At the end of the 15 seconds, I will paste the answers and wagers in the channel, and add/subtract the respective wagers.
Prizes
The top three finishers get to keep their winnings for that week, with a little bonus included.
1st place: 50k ICs
2nd place: 25k ICs
3rd place: 10k ICs
The winner from each week will unfortunately, not be allowed to participate in the next game. This will keep the same person from winning every week, and I hope will encourage some of you wallflowers to come have some fun and earn some money.
The Fine Print
Ah yes, now for the best part. One of the reasons I am starting this is to improve the attendance at the meetings on Sundays. Only those in attendance will be allowed to participate. Unless given prior clearance by me.
Also, there will be no googling for answers during the game, which is the cause of the short response times. I will be lenient to a point on spelling, so don't worry about being rushed. If I can make out the answer, you'll get it right.
So there you have it! Join me in #Vast_Empire at 4:00PM EST for the weekly meeting, then in #SWTrivia for the bi-weekly VE SW Jeopardy contest.
I advise printing out a copy of the weeks game board, and crossing off categories as they are used. This will prevent confusion and slowdowns by asking for already selected questions.

This will be fun. I'll participate when I can. The only thing is I can't type extremely fast, so five seconds would be hard for me if you have to answer in question format and if the star wars answer is a long word. Anyways, nice idea Angel. -----------------------

I'll probably know the answer but not be able to write it in time, and then lose points instead of gain them. Atleast I will be able to buzz in before Art on this one, unlike trivia where Art writes so fast that I barely finish the first word before he has it up.  -----------------------

I owe everyone an apology. My DSL modem died on me Friday night. Unfortunately, I Can'y buy a third party modem because Verizon sucks. Coincidently, however, today was the day I move to my sister's for a month, so I am mooching off her wireless network.
I will try to have jeopardy ready for tonite at 10pm EST. If I canot have it ready b then, I will hold it Monday, July 11 at 10:00 PM EST.

the earliest it can be is 9:00pm EST. I get off work at 8:00pm EST, but since i need to finish a category of questions (no internet access means I couldn't double check the answers) it will be at 10:00 PM tonite.
