March 25, 2007 12:46:00 AM CST--Time C-3PX2 made another post.
Now I understand the fact that your post was story development and didn't effect the main plot line. I'm also not going to jump to conclusions about it either; you probably missed it when you read my post over.
I'm not going to have you delete it or anything since it didn't hurt anything but I want to make it a point that my temporary command is serious and that you guys need to pay attention to my orders. -----------------------

I know you are temporary SC. And I look forward to and will obey all your commands.
However, why were you put in tempory command and have I done anything out of line since your temp. position?

Just as Than has said- he is your commander for this period of time. Will says he's going to return at the end of his school term, but I'm going to try and find some other options for him instead of just having to come back to Kaph. He's been here a long time now and, as has been noted in a few places, we've been trying to move people up beyond the squadron so that others can take over- a kind of circle of life, if you will.
So- you never know how long this will last, and besides- he's your XO anyways. The SC and XO pretty much share the command position and this only re-affirms that status: do as your told because this man is going to be leading your group for a while. The best to you Than and I hope Kaph can kick it into shape  Blue skies, gentlemen. -----------------------

I've now posted. For the most part, I know what you are all capable of so I expect to see great things. You already know to ask any questions you have. On the other hand, if anybody believes I am not doing something right as a SC, please PM me about it so I can correct it.

Sorry if I sound insubordinate but, I understand Shazam as to the revolving thing and I welcome Than as our temporary and maybe eventual SC however, I am looking at the rosters and would feel more at ease if we could have a full roster as opposed to having as full flight of TBA's.
Maybe it's just me but I look forward to not only flying with some of the best but also want a full squadron of persons to fly with.
We (the Kaph) are second to none. We just need the personnel to get us there. -----------------------

Your concerns are understandable. The problem is that not many actually make it past training and few make it past their first month or so in active duty. The reason we can't have a full roster and the reason we are down to two squadrons is we have a problem keeping new personel. -----------------------

Well that explains it all.
To tell the truth, I too have felt like giving up and or quitting.
Sometimes it all seems to difficult. But it's not.
You push. Everyone pushes. But in a good way.
Although I'm sure this is a good way to weed out the undesirables, I also think we need a new recruiting stragedy.
We may be losing out on some very good people that just need the proper encouragement. -----------------------

Also, bad news on my part.
I was in the hospital all that time and pumped full of drugs and chemicals and not feeling my best, but today I had my first DR's appt. since this has all happened and have found out the plan of attack for my disease.
I am to go into the hospital for another five days Wednesday and then for five days every month for three monthes there afterwards. That means I will need shore leave for five days a month for the next three monthes.
I am going to stay active throughout this time period. In other words, I will try to do a weeks worth of posting before I go into the hospital Wednesday and then try to report immediatly upon my return Monday or so.
The two good things are that, number one I feel so strongly about this site that I am not willing to give up as so many new recruits have and number two is that when I finally come through all of this,we can all say "Look at Etan Evnstar. He had leukemia and he stuck with us while we stuck with him!!!"
After tonite I may not be able to post again for a week, but let's keep flying Kaph...
Hopefully, my last post on the Kaph-Mortain project will cover all my bases in my absence. Will and Than, please take this to be a reporting post too... See ya all soon.

Good to hear you have made that commitment. I'll keep your situation in mind when it comes to checking activity.
About a plan for keeping new recruits around...well the higher ups have been working on that probably since the birth of the site.

Than just to give you an update on me, still got the stupid flu. I'll try to post soon, had to go into work last night for training couldn't miss it and well standing in the rain didn't help. Right now I am gonna read the story and see what I can write up.
Etan- Keep in mind though that the reason I helped you so much in the begining is due to my Academy position. Don't think that I didn't want to that's not what I am saying just that I help get people ready for squadrons and then when you get one people like Will the CO take over

Remember that all members have direct influence on the new recruits. If you decide that 'hi' will be enough to get them started, I'll tell ya that you're livin in a galaxy other than our own. New recruits need encouragement from their fellow members as well as guidance from their commanders. Whatever becomes of them is the direct effect that everyone produces on them. Commanders must be up to the challenge of keeping people busy, but if those members simply aren't reacting or willing to take a chance- we can only encourage. These points systems, skills and studies- the academy in general, all created to tweak the interest of our members and show them ways in which they can rise to new challenges. I am where I am today because I tried. However, I've also learned that the VE is about the team as a whole- you must be responsible for all of your members: relying on the most elite portion is not good enough. If they're really all that elite, they'll encourage their lessers to rise up and fight with them. So many people should be standing next to me but are not- perhaps I could have changed that. "Ask not what your squadron can do for you, but what you can do for your squadron..."

I am disappointed with the activity this week. What makes me even more livid is the fact that I only got a report from Cyleaf.
Nazgul is 3 posts ahead of us, come on guys that isn't too much for us to catch up to easily. We are The Elite Squadron after all.
Speaking of elite squadrons, they don't keep dead wood around. So from here until Friday's meeting, I am initiating another AWOL check. Post here in that time frame or I'll make a request to put you in the reserves or onto the AWOL list, depending on your reputation for activity.

Ladies and gentlemen- in the a period of roughly three and a half weeks, you have only made twelve post on your story. In that time, you've had command changes, gained new members, lost old ones and come up with various ideas. This is the nature of the VEN- it happens and it is to be expected; RL has always been present and been a key factor in people's ability to post. However: this is not right. IF this squadron has the members that the roster says it does- where are the post? One per week from every individual would do more justice than your current number. I propose that Cyleaf Aeheit become a Flight lead if he can handle it, and that I remove everyone from the roster who is not immediately active, even if they're on leave: because I don't know if they'll ever come back. If you do think so- lemme know. Because we need people to step up and get something going: for anyone who does, I will most certainly see it. For those who think this is a chore- we can only do so much to make this interesting for you. We can place you into reserves if you're not up to this. In the meantime- I'd like to see atleast seven post by the end of this week: one for every day. I don't care who it is.

Okay, I've read up on what Iv'e missed for the five days I was in the hospital and I'm back too.
I thought I had already apologized for my getting cancer and going into the hospital and now having to go through a program for my disease.
I feel directly insulted here for my lack of posting even though I was unable to post or even get to a computer for over a month. And as soon as I could, I came back in explained my situation, posted more than some on the Kaph-Mortain project, reported to Will and Than, albeit late (and given my situation), and have done everything in my power to be a part of this team. Now it's five days later. I'm out of the hospital again and have Shazam demeaning us as a team for lack of posting.
Now I understand, I have some editing to do, sorry again Than for the oversight. I will get to that immediatlly. But I feel proud to be a part of the Kaph and I don't feel to proud, having Shazam put us down for our lack of posts.
I have read some of the stuff you all have written in the past. I feel like a monkey here. Personally, I'm going to try better now that I'm back and have nothing better to do. -----------------------

I'm pretty sure it was meant as constructive criticism. I've known Shaz for over a year and a half and am yet to really see him purposly and meaningly 'put down' one squadron or another. He's just working tokeep things on track.
And sorry to hear about the cancer. My mom had that and I know how much it can suck. From the looks of htings I may end up with it myself one day anyway, so I kinda can say I know it sucks. I'm glad to see you're still doing stuff with the VE though  -----------------------

Etan, we did have a pretty crappy week. Shazam was just making sure we weren't slipping. On the other hand, I can understand why you are upset. It isn't fun coming back to be told that your group is lacking.
By the way, since Shazam got rid of the dead wood for us, forget about the AWOL check. He pretty came to the same outcome I expected it to be.
