Yea, I know what you're all thinking, 'Another new server??' Unfortunately this server didn't want to work with me to get what we need as far as hosting services go. We now have a dedicated linux server. This wasn't too much more than what we were paying before...well maybe $40/mo more....but it will be worth it. We'll be able to have ftp accounts again as well as configure our server however we want or need it.
The transition should be much smoother this time, as the server is also linux. I have already started to transfer the division domains. I will be doing the transfer of the main domain, comnet, and FGB sometime this weekend. During this time, the domain will be down for a few hours while I transfer over the database and set some redirects on the old domain. The actual domain names will take about 24 hours to transfer to the new server. During this time, you'll still be able to access the site through the original pages as they will redirect you to the new pages.
Those of you who have vastempire.com email addresses will need to download all of your messages before the end of this month if you want to keep them. Right now, there is no way to transfer the email accounts to the new server. You will still have your email accounts once the new server is up and running, you just won't have your old messages. After the transfer, if you still need to get your email messages, you can view them at the IP address of 209.132.200.51. Please note that this IP address will not be around for long, so be sure to get your email messages after the domain transfer quickly.

Okay Kad, here are my qusetions:
1. Will we be able to have the old comnet back up on this server?
2. Will the addys we type in still be vastempire.com and so on?
3. Will the e-mail addys still be [email protected]
4. Will the store be opened up after this transfer.
5. Will we have to start donating?
6. Can I get an e-mail addy seeing I'm Japs assistant now? All the other assistants have one, and even Japer has one. If not, okay but I was just wondering. -----------------------

Yea, you'll be able to upload without me having to make a special script. It will be similar to what it was like before. But since this is a linux server, it won't be exactly like it was. If it is set up right, each user can have a separate subdomain. There could be a user for each squad, platoon, etc. Then when someone else needs access to that area, they'll get the username/password for that specific user. If someone leaves or we don't want them to have access anymore, the password for that user will need to be changed. You could also have your own special account (ie: cosmic.stormtroopercorps.com or even cosmic.vastempire.com if you're special).

If you visit the navy page, you'll notice it uses the imperial-navy.com domain. If you get an account for the navy, it would be: username.imperial-navy.com. Same goes for darkjediorder.com and engineeringcorps.com. Although, drunkenflyboys.com does sound pretty good. 
In order to get one of these accounts, you'll need to talk with your commanding officer. -----------------------

Looks like the Comnet is working again. Yesterday when I was making some posts, the placement of the posts was random. Some new posts were on top, others on the bottom, and some in the middle. -----------------------

The placements of the posts are placed by time. Since the server was set to a day in the future, the posts were a day into the future as well. So when I fixed the server time, the posts that were made in that 24 hour period would get placed amongst the other posts that were made before hand (but were actually in the future). If that makes any sense.
But yea, Talon, If you can find a better domain for the EC than what we have now (that isn't already taken), I'll go ahead and get that and let the other domain expire. -----------------------

Ditto. Apparently I have been undeservedly ragging out troopers about mail they have not sent me. They have, I just can't see it yet.
At least two of the Drill squad members have done so and I would like to review those mails to see if they can be moved into a regular squad. And stop being so damn mean to them; at least for the wrong reasons.
Any info you can give on that would be most helpful.

I've set up the email accounts on the new server. In order to do so, I had to use a password for the accounts. If you had changed your password, then it will probably be wrong. If you can't log in, let me know. -----------------------
