X-box, Gamecube?
BAH!!!
PS2 has already won the battle of the systems as far as sales goes. They have sold over 8 times as many systems as the competitors, and since the the Xbox and the Gamecube have come out, PS2 has sold more than twice than both of them combined. At this present moment, PS2 is selling 60,000+ systems a week, with Xbox and GC selling 30,000+ each. In Japan, Xbox is already almost completely out of the console race.
To the games. Gamecube has a strong gaming group with all of the classic nintendo titles it has at it's beck and call, however, they lack the third party support. Xbox has the majority of Lucasarts supporting it, but other than that, it lacks major third party support as well. Then you come to the PS2. It has many times more games out, and a greater variety of games that can apply to the taste of every console gamer out there. It has the majority of the third party support, and that will remain since it is so far ahead in sales and 8 million systems are already in the US.
So what I am getting at is this: The console war is over, and PS2 has won. It is now a battle for 2nd place between Xbox and GC, and it promises to be a long and bloody one, considering the battle chests each of them have to dip into. -----------------------

Even though it wasn't one of the options and it's not a games console. i'll have to say...PC.
But out of the consoles, PS2 is way the better. -----------------------

ok, rizzit, if you're talking just plain graphics, Xbox beats the pants off of your puny little gamecube. But in overall, PS2 wins the cake, the only other system that has enough titles to actually compete, is the PC, and most people (like me) have their PS2 hooked INTO their PC. (my monitors the biggest screeen in the house, and i can make it do cool stuff while i'm chatting :P)

Not to rain on you X-BOX owners' parades but ( note1) the X-BOX has already been hacked as far as software protection is concerned. As far as X-BOX security goes ( note2) gives you a pretty good idea that Microsoft should have done a little more product testing.
Gamecube is pretty weak, regardless of the hour or so I spent playing Rogue Leader while goofing off at the local WalMart.
Sony seems to own this category.

I'd have to say that PS2 is the greatest. 2 reasons: reason 1 - Final Fantasy. reason 2 - can play old PSX games on it. There are many other reasons, but those are the man. Like eeryone else said about he PS2, it has more games and more variety. Only bad side is Lucasarts supports XBOX. Once the PS2 network gets up, it will by far be the best. That's final. -----------------------

Gamecube is the best! I would think that because of the Graphics, Games, and the built in Rumble pack future. I already have 5 games for them. They are Super Smash Brothers Melee, Star Wars Rogue Leader II, 007 Agent Underfire, Bloody Roar Primal Fury, and Sonic Adventure Battle 2. They are all awesome games and I can't wait until the new Star Fox Adventures comes out in August. Well, Those are my reasons.

Lukas, if the Gamecube had better games, it wouldn't have to have such kiddie titles as "smash brothers" and such. It would have more blood and guts things like unreal tournament, and Resident Evil, but no, it's a kid's machine, designed for kids, by KIDS!! so, if you're a kid, sure the gamecube's the best, but if you're not, you gotta get some testicular fortitude and either go to the XBOX or PS2. I prefer the PS2, but XBOX has some good games (hey, i'm all down for the whole, buy the system, burn the game thing man!) I love having Cable Modem, but i prolly wouldn't do that. Halo is like the only game i would have if i got an XBOX. maybe a few racing titles, and maybe JO, but that's it. other than that, my PS2 would still be hooked into my computer, i don't even use the dvd playback, i just use the dvd rom i have IN my computer.

BUY A GOD DAMN COMPUTER! I mean, I can already play any PSX game I want, any old school system, (Except the dreamcast, those systems are fricking sweet man. Linux, MP3's!!! DIVX!!! oh my.....) It's only a matter of time that I will be able to play PS2 and Xbox games on my pc, only a matter of time. In fact they have a beta of a PS2 emulator out already.....
But if i had to chose one.... PS2, it's so fricking cool. You can customize that thing out the ying yang. exapansion ports, usb, network, hard drive..... *drools* FFX!!! GTA3!!! I mean, there's even a t-shirt. PS2, it's better than girls. (or something)
All it really needs is ummm... a personality.
Xbox... yea You can't watch dvd's without buying an addon... how stupid is that. GameCube.... in a word Zelda. When the screen shots for Zelda came out... i almost died, it was awesome looking. and then, the went and super mariod the whole thing, (kidified it if you will) and now i can't stand the sight of it....

Since when did a game need blood and guts to be a good game. Nintendo is not a kiddie system. Yes, they don't have all the blood and guts that PS2 has, but since when was a monty-pythonish level of blood become a required standard for a good game? -----------------------

Blood and guts don't make a good game. Mortal Kombat 4 was one of the worst fighting games ever. But you have Tekken 4 coming out, the greatest variety with quality in each genre. Xbox lacks very much variety or quality, much less quantity. -----------------------

actually the xbox released with the most games of any system. what it has in quantity, it completely lacks in quality. Halo is the most unimaginative pos game i have ever seen in my life. -----------------------

I still think Gamecube is still the best system. I admit that I have played Playstation 2 and the only game I like on there is Zone of Enders and Syphon Filter 2. But once again, I still like Gamecube and Nintendo and will always stick with them. If Nintendo ever goes out of business I might by a Playstation 2. I know that Nintendo doesn't have that many games out right now but they will have more and better games. -----------------------

Grand theft auto three was a horrible game. Three, I agree with you that Zelda's new look is horrible. That was my favorite game series of all time, and now they have made Link look like Hreme the Elf who wanted to become a dentist. That seriously pissed me off, and I believe that Shiguro Myamoto needs to be shot for doing it.
That being said, Nintendo's games are not all centereed around a younger audience. Yes, most of it's games can be played by all ages, but that doesn't make it bad. Who cares if an 8 year old plays it.? Personally, I don't need my games to be graphic enough that an 8 year old can't play it. Do I like games like that, yeah, some of them. Perfect dark was great, and i love the Bond series. I also love Sonic adventure battle and Super Smash Brothers. Is it all right for me to play those games with my 12 year old brother, sure. I still enjoy playing them. -----------------------

Why does X-Box's size matter? PS2 is just as wide, only X-Box is thicker. Besides, its size represents the vast amount of power it contains inside of it. Granted PS2 has the best games, but a complain is that it will never be fully optimized b/c it is too code for. Plus X-BOX is going live, and it will have voice-recog. games which will be tizzight.
As for HALO being unimaginative...HAVE YOU EVER PLAYED IT????????????????? 8vs8 capture the Flag, oddball, rockets only, snipers only....its the best MP game of anything...its better than JK2, Quake, anything. HALO basically swept all the game of the years...
