Hello, all.

I've spent the last couple of days setting up my character and getting into the groove of active story participation, but now that I'm all maxed out on rank and position (for the time being - ), I'm looking for ways to contribute more substantively to the VEN.

As some folks have noticed, while I'm not incredibly tech-savvy in RL, I do have some experience as a copywriter, copyeditor, and author.  I've already discussed with a few people my idea of crafting a series of miniature essays/exercises about the writing of fiction, to be collected as a kind of self-guided writing clinic for interested VE members to work through at their own pace (initially with a Navy focus, but eventually supplemented by material for the other branches), and I've gotten clearance to start compiling content.  When it's ready, Drac has graciously offered to help set up, format, and organize the multiple wiki pages which'll probably be required to realize such a self-directed "course."

But that's a big project, and probably won't debut for at least a couple of weeks.  In the meantime, I thought I'd ask: does anybody mind if I go through the wiki and copyedit?  I've noticed many pages where some simple rewrites would really streamline the information, and I'm more than willing to slowly correct typos and grammatical blips as I find them.  Just wanted to offer, and this seemed an appropriate thread in which to do so.

I was going to stay away from personal pages unless specifically invited by the individual authors, and I guess I'll apply the same thinking to official pages.  To the powers that be: I'm officially available for copywriting and copyediting.  Just let me know what could use an editorial once-over, and I'll get to it!

Well, as I find stuff in the official pages, I'll clean it up a bit.  Nothing major content-wise, of course, but little style tweaks and spelling fixes seem benign enough.

Forgot to mention that I'm done editing.

I've created some ribbons for those who've passed Flight School, and the three tiers of the Top Gun Certification, but I don't want to upload them until the wiki's fixed... it appears to have been messed up during the migration to the new server.

Sent.  Didn't realize we already had something like this, but we'll see what you think of the ones I came up with.

Further wiki work, to take a break from writing for a couple hours: slowly updating the pages for the Atrus, the First Fleet, and my character, with newly-created and uploaded images, and a significant editing pass of the existing content.

@ StOrMz: You transfer me to a new ship, and you're gonna get a new set of images and a free copyedit, as a matter of course.  Hope they meet with your approval.

You're free to run your story until I start up the next 2nd Fleet mission, and can continue then so long as your pilots put priority on the main mission. Go ahead and PM me the overview at your convenience. (And try to wrap up your part of the Battle of Epsilon before starting the training exercise, for continuity.)

As to the infobox...heh. I seem to have stuck my foot in my mouth by way of sleeping in too late this morning. I'll still try to get it done before I leave, but I can't guarantee anything. My bad.

Had i read this earlier i may have waited rather than take matters into my own hands. Then again personalization is always safer and nicer too...
