Gates looked at the stock of his rifle as if it had betrayed him. He then briefly considered placing another cordial call to the Wraith ASL, who was apparently coming in as the cavalry. Nah, he figured. After all, they have some problems of their own.

The burnt-out relic of a factory was filled with the sound of gunfire, laser bolts and explosions wracking its rusted frame. Havock was huddled behind another piece of cover, as were the rest of the Blackjacks, frustrated and pinned down.

“Alright,” crackled the comlink - what’s-his-face Wraith ASL. Jamasis. Right. “We’ve killed those suckers. Surprise party in twenty.”

“Oh good,” Gates replied. “I was beginning to fear you’d never come rescue the princess.”

“You?”

“No, the Platoon Commander.”

“Oh.”

“Yeah.”

“Right. We’re ready for it. Like, whenever.”

“You do know I can hear you, Garryll?” Havock said.

“Yes ma’am. Just reminding him of your esteemed presence...”

Behind their pinning enemies, something blew up. Then, several more somethings blew up. Gunfire screamed from the same direction as the explosions, and swearing and yells came over the short-range combat link.

“Wraith’s here,” Gates remarked casually, as the gunfire lessened on the Blackjacks’ positions and turned to fire on the newly-arrived Stormtroopers. “Up and at ‘em, boys and girls. And try not to shoot the Wraiths.”

The gunfire, cut by half or more on the Blackjacks’ positions, wasn’t enough to keep them down. Rising as one, an imprecise, but enthusiastic and terrifying barrage of laser bolts ripped from their positions at the entrenched enemy. The repeating blaster fired again, more frantically this time, forcing Wrex and Razor to duck back into cover. The gunner howled in victory, tracing the flickering laser bolts across Kit’s and Abalar’s positions, forcing them back into cover too. The enemy youths beside the repeater gunner yelled, too.

And then the weapon jammed.

Gates’ lips, halfway to “Shit” changed their mind and yelled, “Open up! NOW!”

Rising again, they let loose a fusillade of rounds, making the enemy militia duck. Razor tossed a concussion grenade, stunning several of the men on the line. Garryll’s blood was up, and he yelled something unintelligible, followed by a brutal order. “Forwards, ‘jacks! Kill ‘em all!”

With a yell of adrenaline and anger, the Blackjacks hurdled over their cover and charged forwards, firing rifles from the hip and dragging their prefered melee weapons out of their sheaths. Gates was in the center, rifle gripped in his off-hand, firing blindly, basically. His right hand dragged the ridiculous officer’s sword out of its scabbard, a harsh, metallic ringing sound following its movement.

The back-water youths were stunned. None of them looked older than twenty five, and lacked the nutrition or sun or brutal training regimen required to look like a real soldier or, indeed, healthy at all. One lunged forwards, less stunned than the rest, his old, rusted rifle’s butt descending at Gates’ face.

He took it, letting the rifle break against his hardened plastoid armor. He barely felt it inside his nice, comfy protective suit, and then blasted the man’s guts apart with a burst of high-powered laser bolts. The dying man fell back, smoke leaking from his wound and mouth, silent and about to die.

Around him, the Blackjacks were shooting up or slicing apart the screaming, dirty men. Kit was particularly effective, his translator off in order to give him another psychological advantage yelling Wookie warcries and slicing with his Ryyk blades. Razor threw a smaller blade into one man, and when the target flinched and reached for it, butchered him with two more.

The gunner of the repeating turret turned, panic in his eyes. The man had a thin mustache and looked the oldest of the now-dying young men. His eyes widened even further at the sight of the blood-splattered Elite Stormtrooper, smoke wisps leaking from the rifle’s barrel and a meter-long blade in his hand.

“Oh fu-”

Gates swung the blade back-handed, decapitating the unfortunate man. The gunfire had puttered out by then, the Wraiths having dismantled the unprepared men from behind. They were now standing around, looking quite pleased with themselves. There was a hole about a meter in diameter, roughly circular in the floor. Gates looked down it; there were no boxes or a ladder.

“Uh, Khalldryn tossed us up here,” Jamasis said, volunteering the information.

“How the heck is that?”

“It isss I,” hissed a large form behind Gates. The Blackjack SL turned, and faced a Barabel. “There was no time for the stairs.”

At that, Gates laughed, and was soon joined by his entire squad.

Havock sneered at the troopers standing around her. They were hi-fiveing, patting each other on the back. "Yea killing starving kids must make you feel like a real man." She pushed past Razor and Hector while glaring at Kanderin.

"Hav." Jamasis motioned to the platoon commander. She rolled her eyes and walked over to Jamasis, Aeos, Garryll and Abalar standing together in the corner of the broken down factory. They had all taken off their helmets so she clicked the release under her chin and slid hers off as well.

Aeos was glaring at her and Garryll simply nodded before continuing. "So far we have found nothing but garbage in this place. We should go back to town."

"They had nothing for us the first time, they are civilians, and they have lived here for generations." Jamasis shook his head and crossed his arms in aggravation.

The stench outside paled in comparison to the room she now found herself in. The bodies had been pushed together into a tragic pile of untapped potential. The circumstances that brought them to that factory, that day, and make the fatal decision to fire upon armed troopers would remain a mystery for all time now.

A small image on one of the young men's shirts caught Havock's eye. She glanced at Aeos then broke the eye contact and slowly walked over to the dead boy. She waved Khalldryn off as the barbel attempted to position more bodies upon the pile. She hadn't realized just how many boys were in the beaten down factory until she witnessed their bodies in a mound.

Havock pushed the mans jacket aside with the barrel of her pistol to get a better look at the small symbol. There were lines flowing upwards and then fanning out almost as a tree would look if broken into nothing more than lines. She had seen the emblem before on some of the buildings in the town but chalked it up to some kind of mining. "Ae."

The other blond was already at Havock's side and simply knelt down to see what the platoon commander was looking at. "Yes, Ayme?"

Havock shot her a raised eyebrow and frowned at her tone, then shrugged deciding not to even bother bringing it up and continued. "They worked for a faction, probably the faction that took the MOL's." She looked around absently tapping her pistol on the thin metal floor. "So why would an imperial faction pay kids to hang out in an abandoned factory with sniper rifles?"

"What makes you so sure that they work for the faction we are dealing with or that they were imperial in the first place?"

Havock didn't change position other than to move the tip of the pistol barrel from the floor to a small circular part of the emblem that rested at the very bottom of the image. It looked like a distorted version of the imperial symbol, just enough to be similar and just enough to be different. "I want to know who these guys are."

"Finding out what they are...were...protecting might give us that information." Nightowl commented from where he sat near the smashed window.

Both blond's turned and looked at the trooper with mirrored expressions of curiosity. Aeos spoke first in a deadpan voice, "Explain Lance Corporal."

"Snipers. You set up snipers with instructions to kill things with guns coming towards you when the thing just past the snipers is your primary target zone." He shrugged after the last word and returned to look out the window.

Havock nodded thoughtfully and came to stand next to him. The view was not something you would put in a postcard home. Giant hills made of trash dotted the otherwise barren landscape. Her eyes followed the road from town, making its way past the factory then out into what looked like empty desert. There was one small blemish on the in her line of sight. It may have been nothing, trick of the eye, but the way it sat in the hard sand like a jagged rectangle. "That could be a bunker."

"Better than sitting here I suppose." Gates muttered from behind Nightowl.

OOC:

Wraith/BJ we have spotted what looks like it could be a bunker about 3km's from the factory going away from the town. We will move out of the factory and investigate it, never know what we might find

IH/RAIDERS keep investigating the listening post and once you are done I will let you guys know whats next for you.

"Razor, take a seat." said Garryll as Blackjack and Wraith began to walk towards the odd building they had spotted.

"Yes sir boss man commander guy." replied Razor with a salute that was meant to tell Garryll that he would rather be going into the unknown area with the squad and getting up close and personal.

Razor climbed onto a pile of rubble and sighted down his I77.  He began scanning the landscape and the small road that lead up to the construct.

When the two squads had moved into Razor's sights they were already halfway to the bunker.  Razor had been listening to the chatter going back and forth between the two squads and resented being put on overwatch.

Razor had divided the area in front of him into four quadrants and he would study one for ten seconds then move to the next one.

As he watched the third zone he caught a flicker, a movement of shadows against a shadow.

Instantly his mind went into automatic as yelled into his helmet mike, "GAR!! Movement 50 meters ahead of you. A squad on the left and two squads on the right. Hit the right hard."

Razor sighted the beefy man wielding a large gun.  The large man took aim at the left flank of the squads and Razor blasted his head to tiny bits.  The remaining four men in the squad leapt back with surprise.  Razor did not give them a second.  He pulled one of his Soulseekers off of his back and fired two rockets.

Then he ran down the road.  He saw the explosions and heard the yell of the last surviving man.  Razor continued to run, upset that when he reached the squads they would have already cleaned up the last of the fire fight.

That was so unnecessary.  She thought as she stared at the now mutilated body of the prisoner Tanus executed.  There were many ways to get a captive to talk, and while effective, she didn't approve of executions to force information.  At least Tanus had allowed the one that spoke to live.

The room they found themselves in was littered with the same foul trash on the surface.  In addition, there were old, rusted mining tools littering the floor.  That looks new.  She thought, looking at too boxes in the corner.  They were covered in dust and sand but were clearer newer than anything else in the mine.  Kira wandered over and brushed the sand off one of the latches on one of the boxes and popped the lid.  Inside she found fragmentation grenades, pistols, weapons similar to her Z7, ammunition, and even two explosive packs with remote detonators.  The box beside it held similar equipment.

"Everyone report here on the way out of the mine to resupply."  She ordered to the two squads.  Two fragmentation grenades...two additional clips for the pistol...and one of the explosive pack...that should be sufficient for the rest of this mission.

===Later on===

What was called a listening post looked more like a bunker than anything else.  The facility, larger in size than she expected, was partially built into a hill.  Communications antennae were visible emerging from the top of the hill.  From the outside, it wasn't clear if the sand formed a hill over the bunker to help disguise it, or if the bunker was built into the solid foundation of the hill.  The main entrance, uniform military gray, stuck out from the hill about 50 meters.

"You didn't need to kill either of them you know."  Kira said to Tanus as the squads approached the entrance.

"He was positively mad.  Besides, this isn't the time for questioning decisions."  Tanus responded.

"That was likely the result of a concussive blast from a grenade or explosives pack."  She responded unyielding.  "Just keep it in mind for whatever transpires here next.  No response.

The two squads deployed to either side of the entrance as they approached.  Kira and Lucky moved carefully around to examine the controls.  The power's off?  She thought somewhat surprised when she examined the panel.

"Either the power is off or they've shut it off to the entrance."  Lucky confirmed after a moment.  "We'll have to blast it open or find another way."  Kira examined the panel a bit more closely.  After another moment she rammed the butt of her Z7 into the bottom-right corner with the right force and leverage to force the top-left corner from the frame slightly.  She slammed her weapon into it a second time and forced it away enough to pull the main panel off.  "What are you doing?"  Lucky asked.

"As I thought"  She replied examining the wiring inside.  "This must be more a bunker than a listening post.  Look here, there are actually three hydraulic controls.  My guess is that they have a main door in between two heavy blast doors.  We will have to use our explosives sparing to be able to get all three if they are all closed.  The two looked around the entrance again.  It appeared as though the first door might be open so at most there were two in the closed position.

"Clear!"  Lucky shouted a minute later after she had set the explosives packs and detonators to the first door.  The squads crouched behind the walls protruding out of the hill.  A second later the sound and force of the blast cut through the otherwise quiet surroundings.  Kira gave her head a shake to stop the ringing and swung around, knee down, Z7 in hand.

Only one door had been in the closed position.  It must have been the normal entrance and not the blast doors because Lucky's explosives blew the exposed frame partially inside the bunker itself.  It now lay, charred and twisted, covering the entrance diagonally.

"Snipers and rifles cover as we move the door."  Kira ordered.  Some of the squads advanced toward the entrance, not sure what to expected from the other side.  When she reached the smouldering door Kira she stiffled a gasp.  There were two bodies in the entrance way and she could see four others inside.  One was draped over a terminal, another was sitting dead in the chair, and two others were crumbled on the floor.  Of the two she could see more clearly, it was apparent both died of wounds inflicted by a vibroblade or sword.  As she turned the head of one of them caught her eye...the first body had been decapitated.  Clearly it must have been a sword.  "Be on your guard."

OOC:
[OOC:

Ok here's what is going on.  This post is controlled by IAT directly serving the order.  Retreating mercs seeking to make contact with one of their ships saw the antennae and took the listening post to make contact.  At the time, the post was nearly abandoned because IATs were otherwise occupied.  While technically on the same side, a fight broke out between the mercs (armed only with melee weapons and possibly some grenades and light weapons...whatever they had left after a larger battle somewhere else), and the IATs, one of whom was the one Tanus killed.

The power inside the bunker is off.  The generator, located on the 2nd floor below the floor we are on, has failed.  All levels may still have mercs (they are still seeking to contact a ship).  On the second level, the emergency power is still working and there are some lights, but the rest of the facility is currently dark. It is old and rundown with poor equipment scattered everywhere.

Our objective is to power the interstallar comm long enough to send a transmission to Sam who will inform us he is bringing reinforcements.  A critical success will result in intercepting an hour old transmission informing the mercs that ships are on the way to collect the weapons.

Good luck]

There was a fight. That was obvious to Skarr. He stared at the dead bodies. They all had died in different ways. Skarr bent down next to one and examined his clothing. It was the same clothing as the man Tanus had killed was wearing. He looked up at the rest of the soldiers assembled.

They were all doing different things. Either staring at the bodies, examining the room, or guarding the doorways. Skarr stood and brushed his hands on his thighs. Kira walked up beside him and looked at the dead man at their feet.

"Same clothing," she said.

Tanus walked up beside Kira, "We have to get this place runnin'." She nodded and the squads began making their way to the corridors leading away from the room. The corridors were only wide enough to where only two people could walk side by side. Equipment was scattered all over the ground. From what Skarr could see, the equipment was old and broken. Rusted tools littered the ground.

But tools and equipment were not the only things on the ground. There were more bodies. Carbon scoring was all over the walls. A few blasters were fired in the hallway. Skarr walked up to one of the walls and ran his hand over the scores. They were near fresh.

"This happened recently." Skarr announced. He deactivated his smell filters and the coppery scent of blood filtered into the helmet. He turned the filter off, the smell of blood was too much. The squads continued down the corridor.

At the end of the corridor was a set of stairs that led downward. Skarr was first down the stairs. He had almost passed the steps, but he had just happened to turn his head and found them. That meant he was first down. The stairs creaked as Skarr walked down. The corridor he walked into was dimly lit. The lights ran along the floor near the wall. They must be the emergency lights, he thought. The emergency lights were extremely dim. The power was either terrible or the lights had been running for a long time.

A man burst out of the shadows, wielding a baton. Skarr ducked under his first swing and tackled the man to the ground.

"Contact!" he yelled into his comm. Skarr punched the man in his face and felt the man's nose break. The man tried to fight Skarr off, but Skarr was too heavy. He was laughing at the man when he was cracked across the head. Skarr fell to the ground, clutching his head. The newcomer hit Skarr over the head again and Skarr lost consciousness.

Jamasis heard the nearby explosions from the soulseeker's rockets. Well, heard was an understatement. All Jamasis knew was that he couldn't hear much else for a few seconds. Then the other two squads appeared and he didn't have time to listen for anything. Jamasis raised his rifle and fired as did most of the two squads.

Ten? Ten of them? So they thought if outnumbering us wouldn't work, sending a tiny number of useless recruits would do anything? Even I'm not that bad at commanding. Jamasis thought back to Wraith's last mission, and some of his poorer commands. Well, not usually.

One quick volley had done it. Eight of the ten were stone dead. One was on the ground, screaming. He looked lucky, in a way. Shot in the leg and the shoulder. Pain, but if the shots had hit him in many other places he would be dead. The tenth was simply standing there, gun limp, shaking and sweating with shock.

"These guys didn't even know what killing was," Jamasis muttered to anyone nearby. He heard one or two agreeing murmurs. Havock walked up to the one unharmed member of the group.

"Any medics here, look at that poor boy," she gestured to the screaming one. Boy summed it up. What, sixteen? Seventeen? At the most seventeen.

So is that what you do now? Just kill whoever you're told?

So? Not like this is any different from what I did back home.

Home? That's rich, really. For someone who never thinks about the place.

Seen as you mention it all the time I can't really stop.

These boys. You shot them and didn't care.

It's what I do.

Yes, it is. And do you even justify it?

No, you know I don't. You know I just do it, because I don't care.

Because of your upbringing.

That's a rich term.

It was true though. Little as Jamasis thought about it, his life had more or less made him into an almost perfect Stormtrooper. One that could become obsessed.

"You. Look at me," Havock was talking to the unharmed survivor, "Why are you here now?"

He gestured distantly towards the bunker without looking up.

Havock sighed. She wasn't going to get much out of him. "Who sent you?"

"Bunker. Faction. My friends," he murmured absently.

"Right. Someone send a message of some sort to the town we've gone past. Don't care who there, just someone. Tell them there's someone in shock with someone seriously wounded," she looked at both squads as she spoke, "there's no point in killing them, they aren't threats to us."

She walked towards where Aeos, Garryll, Jamasis and Abalar had quietly gathered. "They have the same tattoos. All of them. No coincidence, I'm guessing," she said quietly. "Now, I want all snipers spread out, scanning for hostiles. The rest of us move to the bunker, and once we're within a kilometre, I'll give more detailed instructions. But basically we take it," she said, "Now stop standing around and do something."

Jamasis moved off to the left, gesturing at Nightowl to follow him. Looking through his scope he couldn't see any other squads and nobody else reported anything.

Looks like they really weren't meant to survive, Jamasis thought to himself.

When this is over, I'm going to need a stiff drink. Came the almost lazy thought.  Saphira's mind buzzed with utter annoyance as she flipped her Z7 up against her shoulder and peered down the halls that were lined with several bodies. Almost saddened that she couldn't had been the one to take them down as she nudged past one of the troopers.

"Hey!"

Came a familiar voice. Saphira spun and smiled behind her helm and kept going as she knew Madman was scowling at her. She had no time for games right now as she  trotted off ahead. The stench of death reaching through to her nose was enough to make a few troopers' stomachs sour. However, Saph, ignored it. Having seen far much worse as she  reached to her thigh and grappled for her vibro-blade.

The hilt was hard and heavy in her iron-clad grip as she moved up ahead. Catching a glimpse of a decapitated corpse and heard the warning to stay on her guard.

Now, this is a bit more interesting.

The back of her neck started to tingle as she licked her lower lip. They knew the enemy was laying in wait for them.  Boots tapping almost mechanically on the dirty floor, she kept up her pace. Almost separating herself from the others as much mentally as she was physically when  she went down the stairs.

Brushing past her squad leader like a predator on the prowl, she watched as the lights flickered for a moment. Dancing  along, making eccentric patterns that could play tricks on ones eyes. It was then their coms broke silence when the cry came out.

"Contact!"

Saphira moved like a viper. Springing to action as she launched herself forward. Blade in hand, she let her eyes focus as shadows moved and bounced against the walls. Her eyesight better adjusted even in poor light, she saw him.  A wicked smile on her face as she snapped her arm forward and let her blade flew loose. Aime just right it caught the merc right in his left shoulder. He cried out and spun to face her.

it was all she needed as she slammed into him.  Her right hand snapped up as she grabbed the blade and pulled it out as they slammed into the wall with a thud.  His cry was muffled and ended in a gurgle as she flipped the blade and drove it straight into his juggler. Cold and ruthless she  severed his head and turned her back as some blood splattered against her armor.  Sneering under her helm she wiped her blade on the mans tunic and turned to  rush back to see Skarr laying on the ground. Not moving.

"Damn it!"

She cursed and drew to her knee. Placing her weapon down as she pressed a finger to his throat and felt a pulse and felt it's rhythm. Steady and strong.  He was just knocked out and would probably have a nasty headache when he woke up.  Snapping her head up  she saw Lucky, Kira and the others approach.

"He's alive. Going to prob wish he wasn't in a few."

Came an amused reply as someone approached and helped her turn him over. They took his bucket off and something was th rusted under his  nose as Saph injected something else to help wake him up.

Kanderin sighed. In his head, he'd felt like a mere passenger this entire assignment. He'd arrived at the Blackjack barracks eager, completely confident that his own combat abilities hadn't dipped in the slightest. He spent weeks on the running tracks, even more time in the VR rooms in battle simulations. He'd given himself the best training he had given to any trooper that had passed through his squad. Yet here he was, struggling to acknowledge what was going on beyond simply aiming a gun where everyone else was.

"What's your problem?" The injured boy snarled at him "You're not the one that's been shot you know"

"I'll shoot you again if you don't sit still" The Lieutenant replied, tightening the bandage around the kids side a little tighter than he normally would have. He heard the sounds of footsteps behind him, and turned to find Commander Havock stood beside him.

"How is he?" She asked.

"He'll be fine, neither shot hit anything major, it just hurts like hell so I've given him something for the pain. As you can tell, I'm now regretting that because he's getting mouthy"

"Bound his legs and wrists once you're done, let him air those frustrations a little longer while we get a move on"

"Understood Miss"

"And don't call me that" She snapped "Feels weird"

"Sorry, it's been a while, bad habits" Kanderin grinned back, all the time doing his best to ignore the injured kid's complaining. A couple of minutes later, he returned to Garryll and the rest of Black, and the two squads continued the track across the desert.

It was strange, but Kanderin couldn't remember a time he had crossed a desert with a squad before. With all his experience through his time with Wraith he crossed cities, tundras, jungles, mountains, you name it. But as far as he could recollect, no deserts. It was difficult to explain to even himself, but the crushing of sand beneath his feet was both strange and familiar at the same time. In full armor, he felt hindeed and slowed down by the slight collapse of each step he took. But he knew if he took his boots off, he would be immediately back into an element he'd fare with far better than anyone else he was with. He did spend 18 years living in a desert, afterall.

"Freeze" Garryl shouted, immediately causing both squads and Havock to nearly collapse down the staircase.

"Tripwire" He continued, pointing to a spot about three metres from himself. A thin cord ran across the length of the wire, seemingly connected solely to a small pile of rubble at one side. Kanderin was closest to it, so he crouched down next to the pile and gingerly glanced around each side of it.

"Probably a grenade, looks pretty makeshift" He reported back.

"Just step over it then and scout a little ahead, we don't want to risk blowing us all sky high by removing that rubble. Just for god sake be careful"

"Understood" He nodded in response, before gingerly stepping over the wire. In his experience it wasn't unusual for several of these wires to be placed in quick succession, out to make fools of a cocky squad discovering the first trap and rushing onwards. This one however, as made by an amateur and in a hurry, most likely to try and halt their own progress. There were no other traps around, at least for as far as he could see.

"Look guys" Hav smiled, pointing to a dark object about two hundred metres in front of them "Looks like we found our bunker"

"Finally!" Someone behind them shouted, jumping over the tripwire and dashing past Kanderin. "I'm sick of this desert, let's get inside already"

"Agreed, we're behind schedule anyway so let's get a move on"

As Lucky rounded a corner, she saw Saph bent over Skarr who appeared to be unconscious. He was breathing which was a good sign, but what or rather whom had knocked him out? This new development put her on high alert, tensing her whole body she scanned the immediate area and saw faint movement to her left, from the corner of her eye. On instinct, she rotated slowly, flung out her arm and fired. The bolt ricocheted off the opposite wall and hit the mercenary square in the chest.

"Nice shot!" she heard Saph exclaim from her position beside Skarr.

As Lucky was about to thank her for the compliment, Skarr moved and Saph had just enough time to get out of the way before his armored arms started flailing, fists flying all over the place.

"Easy does it, Skarr" she spoke gently but firmly.

"What happened? How did I get on the floor?" He queried, rubbing the back of his head before grabbing his helmet, putting it on and slowly standing up while gathering his weapons.

"You got knocked out by a merc, now let's get going. We still have plenty of work ahead of us!" Kira called from over her shoulder as she started walking away from the small group of Troopers milling around Skarr and the two women.

"Where are we going?" Lucky heard someone behind her ask quietly.

Upon hearing this question, she cursed silently, They should know where we're going! We all had the exact same briefing!

She opened her mouth to reply to that silly question but Rogueboy beat her to it.

"We have to establish communication with the outside world. This place is old and clearly hasn't been kept maintained over the years so we have to try and keep a transmission long enough to request for reinforcements"

Easier said than done.... Lucky thought somberly.

Dosn't look much.

You remember anything you've done in the army? Has anything ever been as simple as you hoped.

Well actually, Renlid was.

That's because you thought you wouldn't survive. Just don't get cocky. Remember the factory, these are probably the same people.

So that would be throwing away lives, tripwires, and the odd mounted gun. Plus traps.

Oh. You have been paying attention...

As things went, that was a pleasant conversation with himself. At least it hadn't involved self-guilt over anything. Jamasis used his sniper rifle to examine the bunker in more detail. It was mainly protected by the terrain. There were large rocks and boulders shielding it off from the rear, and it was largely underground. There was a quick, steep slope down to the entrance which stuck up maybe a metre above the surface. It was made of some sort of metal, and looked pretty strong. Only one entrance, and had no windows. The power must be internal or brought from a generator somewhere else. The junk and terrain seemed to hide it, in a sense, that it was much harder to see than it should be.

"So looking at it, I'd say we would have to go in the front?" asked Jamasis.

"I'd like that, but alternatives are fine," said Aeos.

"We could let Blackjack do it," he said.

"What?" asked Garryll.

"Nothing, nothing. Just sayin' we have to go in the front."

"Well clearly."

"So we need to get that entrance open and then fire in a rocket or two. In case of traps and suchlike."

"Aye. Aeos, you've learn't wiring and electrical systems and suchlike havn't you?"

"Yeah, so I guess I'm the one closest to the door when I open it."

"If you can't it dosn't matter much. We'll just blow the door."

"How?" asked Jamasis.

"We're in a graveyard for old guns. It shouldn't be too hard."

"Fair enough."

Aeos went up to the door, with Khalldryn, and began working. Garryll spoke to the Blackjack troopers, and Jamasis quickly told Wraith what was happening.

"One thing I'm going to add," said Havock.

"Yes?" asked Garryll.

"We are going to accept all surrenders. They're just kids, basically. If they surrender, you stop shooting. Understand?"

"Yes M'am," said the troopers gathered round. Aeos returned soon after.

"Nothing doing. You found anything to get us in?"

"You sure? Fine, everyone search this junk for something powerful," ordered Garryll.

"Why? There's an AAT right here," said Khalldryn. "Needs a bit of fixing up, but it's basically fine."

"Okay. Uh, yeah, help him people," said Garryll. Pretty much everyone went over to the battered and bruised tank, and after several minutes managed to get it out of the junk.

"Should take us twenty minutes to get this gun working, I'd guess," someone said.

"Wait," said Havock. "Might as well ask for a surrender."

"Why bother," someone joked. But a minute later, Havock having broadcasted a surrender request openly on all channels, the door opened.

"Seriously?" someone asked, amazed.

"Don't shoot!" shouted one of the people coming out the bunker. "Not everyone is coming out. Half of us aren't surrendering. But we're not stupid. A bunker full of ammunition? You have rockets, we're getting out."

"Right. Leave your guns here, then go off to wherever you want. How many left inside?"

"Maybe a dozen. The door's open now, they'll be out in a second. They're not stupid."

There was an amazed silence as, slowly, everyone inside the bunker filed out, abandoned their guns, then left.

"So, uh, wow," said Jamasis.

"Yeah," nodded Aeos.

"Right. You heard, this is full of ammunition. Maybe they genuinely surrendered because they know we could wipe them out, maybe there's a trap. Everyone pay attention, and go in, guns ready. And forget the tank," Havock added.

With rather bemused expressions, the two squads entered.

Their footsteps echoed throughout the halls. Skarr rubbed his head. He had a massive headache. He figured his head could've been worse, he was wearing his helmet when he was hit. Now they were working their way down the hall towards the comm center. Skarr kept looking around nervously, waiting for the next merc to come out of the shadows.

Kira led the group further into the listening post. Skarr kept a tight hold on his rifle. He wasn't going to be taken by surprise again. Skarr looked at the walls of the hall. Blood splattered the walls sporadically. There was no carbon scoring down on this level. Skarr wondered what that was all about. Did the mercs only have melee weapons?

Skarr wondered what more they would find, especially in the comm center. He figured it would be worse there. It was five more minutes before anything happened.

"Found it!" Kira announced. Skarr peered at the door to the comm center. It was blasted inward. The IATs must have barricaded themselves in the comm center. The two squads stepped through the jagged doorway. The comm center was a large room. Banks of equipment filled the room. And then there were the bodies. Bodies were strewn all over the floor and equipment.

Lucky and Tanus ran to one of the computers. The rest of the squads fanned out. That was when the trap was sprung. Mercs burst out of the shadows. One of them jumped at Skarr, knocking his blaster out of his hand. Skarr jumped back. The merc held a makeshift sword in his hand. It looked to Skarr like a jagged piece of a Star Destroyer's hull.

Skarr unsheathed the sword at his hip and ducked under the the merc's first swing. Skarr blocked the mercs next swing. He couldn't hear anyone shooting blasters. The mercs must've knocked everyone's blasters out of their hands when their guard was down. Skarr slashed out, catching the merc in the throat. Most Iron Horse and RAIDERS had taken out their opponents and had moved on to helping the others.

Soon, all of the mercs were dead or tied up and knocked out. Skarr walked up to the comm unit.

"Any luck?" he asked. Tanus shrugged. Lucky was tapping away at the controls. Skarr looked closely at the display. The comm had very little power. And what power it did have was poorly connected.

The comm was emmitting only white noise. Lucky kept tapping away.

Finally the comm blast to life, "This is Sam, what dya need?"

"Sam, is it ever nice to hear your voice! we're in a tight spot and we're in need of a bit of help, if at all possible" Tanus spoke quickly but clearly.

"On their way right now..." came Sam's reply before the loud hiss of static filled the room once again.

"Great...We lost contact" muttered Skarr from behind Lucky's back.

"We got a transmission through, before it died, Sam confirmed we were going to get what we needed and that they were on their way " Tanus shot back a little sourly.

"We're not going to get much else out of this comm system" pointed out Lucky as she was glancing at the readouts "my suggestion is that we remain here until reinforcements get planetside"

As she finished her statement, arguing broke out. People started talking all at once, not long after the babbling started voices were raised voices which would be followed by shouting if something wasn't done about the situation soon. Making a sudden sound, Lucky managed to catch everyone's attention, voices died down and soon all she could heat was her heart pounding in her chest.

"Now that I have everyone's attention, could you all let me finish!? The only reason I'm suggesting we remain here is because we've already taken this place by force. Mind you we'll have to search the whole place to make sure no mercs remain, but the place as of right now is under our control. So, would you rather go out there-" This she said with a movement of her head "and possibly have your head lopped off and barbecued for dinner or would you rather remain in this listening post, which we currently control until more of our guys arrive by which time it would be more sensible to head out?"

After she had finished, she took a deep breath and looked about the cramped room. All she could see were people's faceplates with the room reflected in them, no one spoke. Is this a sign that they agree with me?

Blood. Death. Violence. it was all these mercs knew as they had took them down.  The smell of death  grew  as the female sighed when the deeds were done, and done quickly. Almost too easy for her taste.  It was then they had made, and lost contact as she spun around. Her eyes darting like lasers to Lucky and Tanus.

"Help, or no help, this was almost to easy. These Mercs are throwing themselves at us like toys." Saph growled.

Managing to get that one sentence in before the room exploded into arguments. A babble of who wanted to do what in a place that in her terms, could crumble over their heads.  Wouldn't that just be a perfect end? I can see the headlines now. "Troopers killed in action due to faulty building collapsing while waiting for reinforcements."

Yea, perfect. Part of her nearly wanted to put that out and lighten the mood. However, it was then Lucky, managed to have everyone shut up for a moment before ears could be boxed in.

"Well, I for one would rather move around then stand here with nothing better then arguing amongst ourselves." Saphira spoke, breaking the silence.

That, and I'm itching to see what else these mercs have in store. Something isn't setting right with me. Not that she was going to voice that to everyone in the room. Her stance gave that much away as she cocked her hips slightly to the right. Her head tilted to the right as she eyed the door.  The Twi'lek still had her blade in hand, the blaster slung over her shoulder. If the building was in that much disrepair, she would rather a closed combat then risk taking down any weak points.

"Standing here isn't my style. If those mercs are walking around with makeshift swords, there has to be a reason.  Right now this place isn't sitting right with me and theres more places these guys can hide." Saph pointed out as she toyed with the blade in her hand.  Flipping it up as it spiraled in the air. The pale light reflecting off the tip as she caught the hilt and then spun on a heel before walking out of the room.

"I don't know about you all, but I'm going to  at least pace the hall while you  make a decision."

After having a rough road through the factory there was gunfire and shots heard from the Blackjack squad. Hector watched as Razor and the Wraith Squad moved in for counter fire. The shots were lunged sending the enemy force flying off the tarmac and onto there faces. It was a firefight then became a sword-fight later on.

Watching Razor use his blade along with Kit slashing about. Hector pulled out his blaster rifle and started firing on incoming targets. More men continued on there position as it became for evident for cover fire. Hector along with the squad provided advanced tactical placement shooting and hacking the civilian hostiles as they moved forward through the factory with the squad leaders orders.

Going up steps Hector watched more men get shot and massacred along the way out of the factory. As he had been ordered he used his own weapon targeting them and shooting them either in the chest or head making sure the men fell as they provided resistance.

Communicating with the rest of the squad Hector noticed a few of the hostiles moving in on one of the elite stormtroopers. Seeing squad leader gates move in and quickly make mince work of him, Hector laughed inside his helmet then joined with the Squad gripping his blaster rifle. Walking with them he watched as the factory was burned down as the hostile turned to prisoners.

Leaving the factory and walking down the ramp he saw a familiar path that lead to a building not to far from where they were located. The squad leader mentioned to them they were to meet there with instruction on making defensive positions. With visor set on scanner setting from previous thermal, Hector walked with the Squad down the stairs and onto the path as it continued along to the building.

There was new information coming in on squad communication. This building was a bunker there primary job to investigate and patrol the area. As Hector continued marching he sniffed inside his helmet with his eyes glaring outside his helmet from side to side surveying the area.

The two squads proceeded up the walkway to the bunker. Wraith and Blackjack, Hector following Blackjack heard the Wraith squad get information about the bunker as they got nearer. The were people inside. Some had already openly surrendered. Taking a moment to look at the situation, Hector looked in bewilderment.

Maybe these were also civilians from the factory or these could have been another faction. There was much to have been decided once they got inside the bunker, Hector thought.

Continuing he walked and then watched as both squads walked inside the bunker some troopers were making defensive positions outside for the moment before being called in. Hector entered looking around him he saw the surrounding area. There had been blasts and shrapnel left from previous battles and this bunker was heavily defended with ammunition and weapons cargo.

Passing by the windows that looked out at the factory and the walkway he took a moment to breath in and out. Stepping to the side he placed the blaster rifle in its holster and listened to new orders as they were being given from both platoon commanders and squad leaders.

--- Aboard the Proto ---

Sergeant Major Allen Coups stood at the head of the small briefing room aboard the cruiser. His face was somber, yet his eyes were filled with fire. He had many years under his belt to control the adrenaline that came within the few hours before a jump.

He cleared his throat, “Apex squad, this is going to be a first for all of us. We have been called to assist the squads that are deployed on the planet Sump. This is not the first time we have been called to do so. The real difference is where we are going to be making our jump from.”

He began to pace from side to side of the group, “I have been informed by the Commander of Development that we are going to be issued some new gear for this one. We will be making our jump from the docking bay of this cruiser, which will be in high orbit above the planet. It will remain there until we are ready to return home.

The pressure in the room felt as if it had doubled in the few minutes since the brief had started. First they are expected to jump from an orbiting cruiser, land on the planet’s surface, and survive; now they are expected to do all that in the presence of the Commander of Development as well?

“Detail, Attention!” First Sergeant Tarsus announced as the door to the briefing room opened and a tall zabrak entered. The entire room snapped to their feet. Their bodies were ridged the same pose. Eyes did not wander about; they were locked forward as the superior officer entered the room.

“As you were,” the blonde zabrak stated turning and ushering in two others into the room with a covered object in tow, “Please Sergeant Major, continue.” With the command the troopers returned to their seats and resumed their attentions to their squad leader.

“Yes Commander. As I was saying Commander Sam Zur will be joining us on this jump. From what I have been told this planet is a dump. This is where neighboring systems send their refuse. The landscape is covered in toxic pits and large debris. It is going to require your entire attention to make a safe and coordinated landing. We will not have time to take our time in regrouping after landing planet-side. With that I will yield the floor to you sir.”

“Thank you Sergeant Major Coups. Now then, you all may be wondering how exactly it is that we will be surviving this jump. The answer to that is right here,” Sam said as he gracefully stripped off the sheet that was concealing the object on the platform, “The Orbital Drop Armor System or ODAS.”

The armor did not glisten under the lighting for it was a matte black and crimson. It was not the most impressive armor that had been revealed, but curiously there was something else erect next to it.

“We all have been training to utilize the ODAS in a live fire situation. This is our first go at it. I, personally, would have wanted a few more training jumps before doing this, but when duty calls we must respond.”

Apex squad had some nerves, but this mission was something brand new. Each member knew that this was going to be the jump of their lives and there was so much that could go wrong.

“Now then,” Sam began with a long pause, “Who’s ready to show off a bit?”

The briefing room erupted with a solid wall of sound, “Hoo-rah!” Sam gave a grin and a nod. He headed out the door. Apex squad snapped to attention without command as their commander parted.

--- Fifteen Minutes Later ---

“Welcome back to the hanger bay Apex Squad,” Sam announced holding his ODAS cover under his right arm, “You all know how this goes. The Proto will be in position for our jump in less than five minutes. Prepare yourselves. This is the real deal here.”

The brown atmosphere loomed just outside the bay. There were a few notable puffs of dark smoke emanating at different points on the planet’s surface. From this distance, it did not appear to be that terrible of a planet, but still not a sunny vacation spot by any means.

“Sir, we are in position.”

“Alright Apex squad, let’s do this.”

Sam slammed his helmet on to his head and led the squad face to face with the blue air shield. He gave a wave to the controller in the observation control booth and the blue screen fizzled out. He looked to his left and right, “Sergeant Major, give the command at will.”

“Yes sir!” Sergeant Major Coups responded with both vim and vigor, “Detail, on my mark!”

This should be interesting. With all the pollutants in the air, I wonder what color we’ll burn. Sam thought to himself awaiting the mark.

“MARK!”

On command the squad leapt out of the hangar bay into the emptiness of space. The blue screen fizzled back into place when the team cleared the bay.

“Begin the thirteen second burn!” Sergeant Major Coups commanded.

The burners ignited and vibrated the trooper inside as they propelled towards the brown atmosphere of the polluted planet. It was the longest thirteen seconds any of the members had experienced. This was no longer a training mission. They were going into a combat zone and they were going in hot.

Just as the thrusters cut out, Sump’s gravity took over and began to pull Apex squad to the surface. The feeling was like being tethered to a beast of burden that decided now was a good time to run full out. The squad lost all vision. The visor shield closed to protect their eyes from the light they were about to generate. Moments later, the video screen flickered to life in time for them to see the burst of light.

This will never get old! Sam thought to himself with a huge smile on his face.

From the surface, the ten black dots suddenly erupted into falling green gems. Those ten plummeting troopers became the most beautiful things within the atmosphere of the planet. Nobody on the surface was any the wiser as to what those were. It was safely assumed to be some space junk coming to join the rest of its companions on the surface of this garbage planet.

The front of Khalldryn's chest plate had been so deformed by the blaster shot impact that it had become unwearable. Internally protruding shards of plastoid had been rubbing the already damaged scales beneath and so Khalldryn had removed that part of his armor after the battle at the factory.

Khalldryn cautiously approached the entrance to the bunker without his helmet either. Having removed its comm link and strapped it to his auditory organ he was free to use his other sense, taste. Whilst the humans tasted the air by breathing in through their nasal pasages, A Barabel used the more common system of collecting particles on the tongue and analysing them within the mouth.

The air of sump was filled with all kinds of particulate matter, plenty of it organic in nature. Khalldryn didn't have the same concept of "good" and "bad" smells as such, but the air of sump was so pungent that he struggled the discern individual scents. As he approached the entrance to the bunker his hunting instincts were all firing. A poor tracker by Barabel standards, his natural instincts were still strong. He could "taste" the scent of the cowardly humans in the air as Aeos reached the door first, before waving him onwards.

Stooping through the doorway he focus, and weapons, flicked back and forth as he scanned the corridor ahead. Door ways on either side probably led to the pillbox's defensive firing positions, straight ahead was a solid closed door. The squads advanced forward, his suspicians confirmed as they reached the side exits. Weapons littered the floors in those room, the previous occupants having apparantly dropped them where they stood before surrendering.

Returning to the main corridor, Khalldryn found several troopers checking the frame of the door for traps.

"Nothing discernable on this side boss, doesnt mean there isnt something rigged up on the otherside," said one of the engineering trained members. "Also its been locked from within,"

"Really?" asked Aeos. "That is odd,"

"And it would suggest someone fell back and left those poor kids to man the defences," continued Garryll.

"It's not well sealed," the trooper continued. "A blaster shot to the control panel should do it, clearly those amateurs who surrendered had no idea,"

"Khalldryn, Hector - do it" Garryll ordered the newest and most expendable soliders. He took up position directly in front of the door, Hector to the side with his blaster aimed at the control panel. An abrupt end that coincided with a boody trapped door exploding was not the death Khalldryn had in mind. Mentally bracing himself he lunged forward and kicked the door as Hector blastes the controls.

The barrier gave way under the powerful kick, Hectors shot having disabled the magnetic seals. Rifles raised Khalldryn advanced. On the other side of the threshold was a very steep and narrow stairwell, obviously leading into the depths of the bunker.

"Clear," he called. Jamasis was on his shoulder then, looking down the incline. It decended at least 20 feet down.

"Follow me," he said squeezing past the reptilian and shuffling down the stairs cautiously. At the bottom of the stairs they found a dilapidated and abandoned living area. They searched the area and found no trace of missing weaponry or traps. Just some recently used beds and waste disposal units.

Blackjack lead the way down a level further underground, the base was bigger than the pillbox on the surface had suggested. On that level the squads quickly spread through a series of large connected chambers and, finally, found the MOLs.

"How the frak are we getting those out?" exclaimed aeos looking at the gravsled full of metal crates.

"Bit at a time?" suggested Jamasis.

"We clearly found just a single entrance to the compound," said garryll, indicating the large doors ahead, "No way this sled came in the way we did,"

"Which means we have two options," continued aeos. "Carry them back upstairs piece by piece or head on into the unknown and find another way out."  As she spoke this khalldryn investigated the double doors at the far end of the room. Peering through a plestiglass portal he saw a long, wide corridor. Obviously the way the grav sled had been brought it.

"I say we scout ahead, if it looks a long way we can always split up the crates and take them back the way we came. I feel making an informed decision would be the best bet," Havock spoke up. The squad leaders never replied, taking the suggestion as an order. Signalling their men with some hand signals the group moved further into the unexpectedly large compound. Khalldryn moved off a side passage further along, his subconcious mind was warning him to keep alert.

"We're not alone down here," he warned the others. He could see extra warmth on the walls in infrared, feel sublt vibrations in the floor. He rounded a corner and was nearly shot for the second time that day, his armor frazzled, this one would have been fatal. The blaster bolt went astray, searing over khalldryns shouder. The barabel ducked back behind the doorway as the enemy advanced.

"Multiple contacts, multiple approach vectors" his comm unit informed him over the sound of blaster fire. One of the two soldiers who had fired on him rounded the corner, but Khalldryn pounced on him before he could try again. The pair tumbled to the ground, Khalldryn's claws leaving deep gashes across the man's chest. The human came out on top as they settled, smashing the stock of his blaster rifle into the reptile's face. Khalldryn reached up and in one fluid motion snapped his neck effortlessly. humans were so very fragile

The second soldier would have finished off Khalldryn with a shot to the back, but Nightowl hadnt been far behind and was quicker to the trigger. Khalldryn turned to see the other soldier crumple to the ground with relief and nodded in thanks at his fellow trooper. Blaster fire rang out all around them from adjoining corridors, these were no conscripts, these were trained soldiers who had laid an ambush in the bowels of the bunker . . .

A pair of soft noises came as a limp, lifeless, corpse was carelessly or carefully kicked repeatedly by the pale white boots of a certain troopers SCOPE Armor system “Yup, this guy surely is dead as surely is sure.” The eccentric gabbing rung forth from the internal to external audio relay system in the helmet, alerting anyone in the vicinity to his voice but really, who was around to hear it? Here with Iron Horse, in this high profile mission, subtlety took a passenger seat in his mind, oh for the joy of it all, he got to kill without bias, without discrimination, no one would have their pretty little burials, especially not the fallen dregs on the floor.

Thankfully Madman's erratic behavior was largely ignored or at least no one really voiced their opinions. There were more important things to focus on afterall, though as the mild wounds were tended to, soldiers directed in an orderly and efficient fashion, Madman himself decided to kneel down and examine one soldier's shirt and the fairly unique logo on the left arm, but they wore little to no armor. “This was it? What kind of mercs were these?” He'd ask, to no one in particular until he shifted and turned with his SCOPE helmet fastened firmly to his head as he noticed Saphira on her way “Hey, don't go all alone? I don't want you killing anymore than I do.” He remarked as he walked over. A Patrol sounded like a terrific idea.

---Elsewhere...---

“So, you think those little bootlicks managed to do okay?” A tall man, perhaps of Mandolorian blood tugged up a small cigarette sort of object, and lit it up as the red smoldering rip outlined the rough features of his face, wearing dark metal grey armor with the very same Merc insignia emblazoned on the back, as he leisurely sat and stared over the others “Well without guns? I'd say they were dead or wounded at this point.” a nearby Twi'lek male wearing some sort of armored headgear would reply forth to the Mandolorian “Say, wasn't one of them your kid? I gotta say, pretty cold of you to send your own son to the sharks.

The Mandolorian laughed as he took a drag “That little pencil neck? He couldn't do anything right, be a damn gift if he was blasted into a smoldering pile of ash.” He'd joke, holding little confidence in his own blood “Better off cloning myself at this point. Alright guys, Whites took the bait, let's go and show them what real men can do. Everyone suit up!” The other men, as rough around the edges they were, each put on  a helmet which was common with their body armor and leg gear. They were not the pushovers that the hopeful initiates were.

Under her helmet, Saphira rolled her eyes. Spinning on her right foot, she pivoted and turned to face Madman. A few sounds of bickering came from the room again. Though, not as much as the Twi'lek had to repress a smile.

"What? You afraid I would take all the kills?" She pointed the tip of the blade to his chest. A small spec of blood still  remained from her most recent kill.  Or did she hear a hint of concern in his voice? The female was sure she did, but didn't want to point it out. If the man was coming around, why shoot him down a notch to his male pride and ego?

"You're putting words in my mouth." He grumbled.

"How about a bet on who gets the most kills then?"  If that didn't make things interesting, then she didn't know what would. If anything, it would turn his attention away from whatever seemed to be on his mind.

"Hey, you two! Start walking and be useful."

A voice snapped behind them. Saphira nearly jumped as she turned to see their SL had poked her head out and barked an order at them.  People started to leave the room and Lucky  joined them along with RogueBoy

"Glade you could join the party." Madman mocked.

Saph scowled and started walking. Resisting the urge to hit him in the ribs with the hilt of her blade.

"So, what were you two talking about?" Lucky asked. Almost coy like.

"Nothing. Just a bet." She replied, feeling her face burn as the lights flickered again in the hall. Their feet tapped on the floor as they avoided the little debree and bodies that were nothing but objects in their path.

"Sure." RogueBoy replied.

Just because were stuck walking around with nothing else better to do...

BOOM!!!!!

Up ahead the walls exploded. Sending a wave of force back on the group.  Saphira and the others fell back, loosing their footing as they fell into each other and to the floor.  Chunks of the wall came flying at them. One grazing Saphira in the right thigh and shoulder.

"What the-"  Her voice was shaky as instinct took over. Reaching for her SCOPE  that had slide off her shoulder, she rolled up  and looked to see Madman was already up.

"You dropped this." He snarled. Handing her her blade as she  took it and placed it back against her  side. It wouldn't do her any good right now as the dust started to clear.

"Lucky, RogueBoy you two  alright?" Saphira asked as the two  got up. They  nodded and looked as the first sets of blaster bolts started coming their way. I knew this was too easy.. She thought as their coms started to erupt in chatter. The others had made contact as well.

"GET DOWN!"

Someone shouted. Saphira wasn't sure who said it as she and the others moved back down the hall and into a side room for some cover.  With the poor light, it was even harder for them to see what was going on.  Much less with all the shouting in the coms.  Aiming her weapon down she shot off a few blasts of her own. Perhaps if she caved in the wall it would slow them down?  Probably not the best idea as she ground her teeth.

Blaster fire erupted from several places at once.

It would happen now, right? We split up into narrow corridors, and then we get attac- Jamasis ducked away from a blaster bolt as three troopers appeared in front of him. He fired a quick burst with his rifle, meant to scatter rather than hit, before withdrawing a little down the corridor. The three of them didn't move.

"And now we have the vets," he remarked to Quillia who was just behind him. They both fired down the corridor, and the other troopers did likewise. The blaster bolts came close, very close, on several occasions as he slowly retreated down the corridor. One grazed his shoulder, melting the armour and burning his arm. Jamasis grimaced, but together they managed to get around a corner.

"Quillia, try and keep them from coming around a second will you?" He said. Without waiting for a reply he switched his comm on. "Nightowl, Aeos, you okay?"

"Yeah."

"Yes. We're trying to get back to the MOL's, see if we can regroup."

"Blackjack?"

"Heh, you're worried? This is easy. Don't worry about us, maybe we'll end up helping you out this time."

"Jamasis!" shouted Quillia. He spun around, looked down the corridor at the enemy troopers. He swore, moved out the way of a flurry of shots, and started to shoot back. He got one and Quillia hit another, but typically three more arrived. Abandoning the slow retreat, Jamasis simply grabbed Quillia, pulled her up, then ran back towards the MOL's. More blaster bolts peppered the walls all around him, some shots that should have hit him seemed to sail past his visor.

"So what do we do?" asked Quillia as they reached the MOL's, and, unfortunately nobody else was there. Gunfire could be heard from all directions, and Jamasis simply crouched down behind one of the launchers.

"We shoot them." Jamasis opened fire at the approaching soldiers. And then, as would be expected, his gun jammed. He hammered it against the floor trying to get it working, but nothing happened. On her own Quillia could only do so much, so Jamasis drew his pistol and fired some shots in the general direction of the enemies.

Emboldened by his clear misfortune, one of the enemy troopers made a dash whilst his squad mates kept Quillia busy. Focusing on the other troopers, the first thing Jamasis noticed was his pistol leaving his hand and a fist colliding with his face. Slightly dazed, he turned to his attacker and managed to dodge a blind punch. He struck his opponent in the jaw, once, twice and three times before kneeing him in the stomach. Before he could recover, Jamasis drew his knife and plunged it into his neck.

Pay attention from now on!

He didn't need to be told twice. Using the dead troopers weapon he fired repeatedly towards the hostiles. In the distance the familiar sound of a grenade could be heard.

"Don't use grenades!" Jamasis shouted into his comm. "This is an ammo dump, you don't want it going up!"

This fight might go on for a while, he thought, as he and Quillia finished off the remaining two attackers with their guns and more could be heard approaching.

Lucky tensed up as she looked out through the open door. Blaster bolts were flying all over the place and other than a few flickering lights, the bolts themselves and the lamps the squads were carrying the place was dark, and one of her primary concerns was protecting their Executive Officer who wasn't geared up as they were and thus vulnerable in this precarious situation.

She moved forward a few paces as Saphira fired off a few more shots, she still had the rocket launcher strapped to her back and a momentary idea to use a rocket to blast a hole in one of the walls and blow a few mercs to smithereens but thought better of it: the listening post was old and pretty run-down, chances of it having major structural issues were high.

"I don't care what we have to do, but we gotta clear these shits out of here" she heard Tanus holler over the comm as everyone systematically joined into the fray. Silently, she agreed with him but a few of them were stuck in a small room, pinned there by enemy fire. getting out of the room unscathed was going to be hard, clearing the place out was going to be even harder.

Wanting her turn at blowing people off their feet she cautiously edged her way toward the door opening, aimed her E-45 at the opposite wall, angled the muzzle with the help of her scope the way she wanted it  and fired a few shots in rapid succession. each shot hit the wall millimeters apart from each other and less than a second later a few thumping sounds were heard as a few men fell to the ground.

"I don't care what we have to do to get out of here, but let's do it now and be mindful of covering your XO, we can't do without him!" shouted Kira over her comm from somewhere in the room.

Jaison raked a hand over the stubble of his chin. Around him the world was erupting in flames, explosions, debris and blood. Despite the position of authority he held over his group, he failed to be at the front-line fighting with them right now. His hands worked fast and expertly, crossing wire to wires. His grey eyes burned with fever that dripped down in perspiration into his neck and soaking the frail rags on his back. His men knew he can’t fight anymore. That didn’t mean however he was less incapable.

Furiously, he tried to press down the thick knot violently bubbling in the back of his throat. Some of these men were still boys he thought with regret. The bunker shook. A stupid fool from the enemy line had decided to toss a grenade.  He himself was barely thirty-three years old. Another vibration shuddered violently and he paused his work till his hands steadied again. They have been trying to fight this system for years. The MOLs or whatever the shipment was called were supposed to be their ticket off this hellhole, for him and his brothers. Instead, it attracted Imperial flies.  They have been dying for years to live life, not by gun but just in peace.  Someone shouted one floor above him. Was it Shigent? No. If they could repel these two squads, it might be easier to drop out of existence. Go into hiding and wait for the storm to blow over.  His family was dead, or they had sold themselves into slavery exported to the far regions of the galaxy. His dignity and pride along with his brothers will not follow in the same footsteps. Not with the prize and the way out so close to their hands. His future was gone. That had been established months ago. He would die for the future of his brothers however.

“Men…pull back.” He commanded hoarsely into his own comm. Mouthpiece.  The device was old, and cracked as were all their equipment.  He leaned back against the wall. The weights hanging from his chest felt right albeit they would end his life in a few moments. He grabbed his jacket and quickly pulled it on not wanting his comrades, his brothers to know of his plans. Shigent would understand. Shigent was ready to take over leadership. It felt cold. The lights flickered as he stood and pressed his hands against the wall to steady his weak frame under his added weight.  Somewhere behind him, boots were thundering down.
“Jay,” a deep yet sharp voice stated.
Jaison turned around to face his second-in-command.

Shigent Raka eyed the older manwith respect. He would easily consider him to be his blood brother and mentor. He would die for this man. His being vibrated in the presence of Jaison. Being his subordinate gave him meaning and will to live and fight.

“Why the pullback?” he questioned though he hated to question Jaison. He shifted the rusted rifle on his back.

“Where are our brothers?” Jaison asked with a weak voice.

He stood slumped against the wall. Damnit, mere months ago he stood tall and proud as the strongest of his men. Now he was reduced to a toddler-like state.

“Upstairs in the first corridor. Enemy position is located at the third corridor.”

“How many of them are down?”
Silence.

“How many have we lost?”
Silence.

“I see. “

Shigent shrank at the anger that seemed to strengthen his commander’s body into a rigid and feral stance of aggression and revenge.  He paled.
“Jay, I’m sorry, its my fault-“

“Nothing could have prepared you boy. They are professional soldiers. We are the sons of miners.”  Jaison spat.

“I want to talk with them.”

“No.” Shigent said in a firm authoritive voice usually reserved for the rest of the group.

“Shigent, stay out of this. That’s a direct command.”
He felt anger, but the feeling quickly dissipated into respect. His commander still had the energy to suppress any revolt or disagreement with unspoken authority. And currently it was that authority ordering him to silence his voice and thoughts immediately.

“You will know what to do, and where to go. I need to reach an agreement with our folks upstairs.”

It felt cold, even in the damp heat of this bunker, his body and bones felt cold though the blood pumping through his veins were roaring in adrenaline.

***

The sudden disappearance of enemy fire and presences had left Black Jack and Wraith confused and baffled along with Havock.  Instinct told every soldier to remain where they were and not press forward.  Garyll raised his hand and lowered it again forcing the squads to remain in their cover.

The sudden silence seemed to be more deafening than the previous volley and screeches of blaster bolts exchanged earlier.
“Havock. Two-o-clock.” Quillia pointed.
A hand clutching a rag of white yet dirtied cloth was waving slowly and hesitantly from behind a corner of the corridor.

“Throw down your weapons!” Havock commanded, her own rifle still raised cautiously.

A blaster pistol clattered against the beaten floor and skidded over.
Aeos and Kdryn being the closest to the enemy slowly edged closer to the waving hand.
“Come out where we can see you. Hands on your head!”

Aeos raised her pistol resting it on her empty wrist and peered at the corner around which the hand was now emerging attached to a arm, the shoulder and finally the body of a very sick man.  Her guard dropped for a nano-second, instinctively feeling concern. A collective shift of weaponry could be heard as Wraith and BlackJack tensed their arms, training their rifles, pistols and blades.

“I want to talk!” he shouted hoarsely. He suppressed a cough that wracked his body inwardly.

“Procedure Havock?”  Aeos asked, her eyes still on the thin man in front of her.  Once a time, he had been handsome and vibrant with life, but now only a ghost remained in his sickly body.
“Search and proceed.” She ordered sharply.

His arms clamped behind his head firmly, his fingers fiercely clutched the small black form in between the fingers and his thick brown hair. Hesitantly he walked nearer. Kdryn raised his weapon and hissed.

“Sir, that is close enough.”  Jamasis stated, his face frowned in wary lines of caution and suspicion.

He kept walking as he frowned.

Closer.

They were still a good few meters away from him. His limping pace increased, both Kdryn and Aeos surged forward instinctively in response.

Her world blackened out, feeling a rough shove that pushed her from her course while her world was breaking down in exploding pieces of debris and blood.

OOC:
Basic gist is that Jaison loaded himself with explosives and under the pretense of surrendering or negotiating he got closer to the squads before detonating himself. Aeos and Kdryn some ends up not receiving the full impact of the blast, but given their proximity, they can be possibly severly injured, ask Kdryn though, since he is a barabel. The explosive was a shrapnel explosive, so no big bang that made the structure gave way, but enough for the squads to be caved into this part of the banker by the ceiling that had collapsed or something. Have fun.

“Comm…er and Sergea… Maj… another …ooper has jum…”

Wait what?! No no no, this is very bad, Sam thought to himself, I don’t know who this trooper is, but he basically just signed his own death certificate. This is too advanced of a jump to try without training.

“Sir… Serg… Leeilles will tak…are of …,” Sergeant Major Coups stated hoping the message will get through to his commander. Before Sam was even able to respond, one of the green burning troopers had fallen back from the group.

This had disaster written all over it

“C…ander, do …ou rea…”

“Yes…thank… Now, shu… it”

--- Aboard the Proto ---

The communications officer was put off by the harshness of the commander’s reply. “It isn’t my fault that someone above me did this. I was just following orders,” the communications officer thought aloud.

“What was that Com-Tech Laculus?”

“Oh, nothing sir. Just talking to myself.”

“Did the commander get the message?”

“Yes sir, and he doesn’t appear to be very happy about the information.”

--- In Sump’s atmosphere ---

I don’t know how this is going to work. This is something that we haven’t been trained for and I swear if this idiot gets me crippled I am going to be furious, Sergeant Leeilles screamed in his head.

The surface of the planet was rapidly approaching. The nine troopers ahead of Sergeant Leeilles had already broken their atmosphere burn and have begun to cool. Their once black and crimson armor was now charred solid black.

Sergeant Leeilles caught a glimpse of Corvin through his external camera. Well at least I can communicate with him now more readily the sergeant thought.

“Alri…t listen to …ery instruction … ve you or …u will d…” Leeilles stated firmly, but with the interference the message lost a lot of meaning, “We …bout to brea… our …urn. … …-grade thrust… very soon.”

Corvin was having a difficult time making out what the trooper was trying to say to convey to him. His mind was complete chaos. I just jumped out of an orbiting corvette and I’m falling to the planet! What a brilliant idea. Probably one of your better ones, idiot.

All of the sudden, the vibrations rattling the troopers eased and the visor shielding opened. They had broken their atmospheric burn. With no longer relying on a camera for sight, the landscaping was sharper and getting closer with every second.

“Hey! Are you paying attention to me?” the sergeant yelled with his voice now transmitting clearly. This startled the fledgling jumper. The weight shift caused him to start to wobble midair. “Great, just great.”

“Uh, yeah…”

“Here in roughly forty-five seconds we are going to need to fire our retro-grade thrusters to slow our decent.”

“How do I do that?!”

“Oh for the love of…” Leeilles began growing ever more irritated about the situation. “Proto this is Sergeant Leeilles. I’m going to need you to do a remote retro-grade burn for this kid on my mark.”

“Roger that sir. I am ready for your mark,” the voice chattered back.

Proto, fire now!”

The falling troopers’ retro-grade thrusters ignited. The force of the planet’s gravity was felt on their heads from all their bodily fluids maintain the momentum against the thrusters. Corvin’s wobble became worse as their decent slowed. He was moving nearly a meter side to side during the burn.

“Ooo, I think I’m going to be sick,” Corvin muttered sounding increasingly nauseous.

--- Ahead with the rest of the squad ---

“Alright, brace for impact!” Sergeant Major Coups shouted only milliseconds before the nine troopers crashed into the planet’s surface. Their combined impact kicked up a sizeable cloud of debris and dust.

“Ugh, Apex squad report,” Coups said slightly dazed as he pulled himself up out of his self-sized crater.

“Sergeant First Class Tarsus, bit rattled but I’m here.”

“Private First Class Barazon reporting.”

“Erm, Sergeant Oomba. I’m in one piece.”

“Corporal Serlre, a-okay here.”

“Lance Corporal Qualran, seeing double but seeing.”

“Corporal Antonel, good to go here.”

“Eck, PFC Sarrus. That was a rough one.”

“Excellent,” Coups began, “Oh, Commander are you doing alright?”

“Yeah, I’m good. Nice jump everyone,” Sam replied, “We should clear out for the other two. We don’t need to have anyone getting hurt here.”

The squad nodded in agreement. They hurried outside the drop zone as quickly as their frazzled legs would allow.

--- Back in the air ---

This kid is going to hit something with his wobble. Here we go… Leeilles thought to himself regretting what he was about to do. He unlocked his left arm and head joints. He looked over, reaching out his arm to stabilize his out of control companion.

“Here comes the ground kid.” He failed to get his arm locked back in before impact but managed a quick roll to avoid landing on his loose arm. Within moments of their impact, Sergeant Major Coups and Sam were at the landing site.

“How are you doing kid?”

Hoob-bleeecchhh

“Haha, alright get up. Take that cover off and clean it out. How about you Sergeant?”

“I’m here sir, but I would say that I have a pretty badly broken arm. Rash decision to save this guy’s life on my part.”

“You are a good man Sergeant. This kid owes you his life. We’ll get you patched up as best we can.”

“Thank you sir.”

OOC:
Alright, Apex Squad and myself are now on the ground. Corvin has now been written into the story and is with my group.

Talohn winced as blaster bolts whizzed over his head, screaming past to scorch the wall behind. His squad were all behind cover, darting out quickly to squeeze off a few shots before the receivers could fire back. RAIDERS were doing likewise. Yet no matter how many bolts were fired, their attackers never seemed to stop. It was as if the bolts purposely avoided them, shimmying just out of contact. Needless to say, the Imperials were getting frustrated.

"Why won't these bastards die!?" Someone shouted angrily as another volley of bolts was fired at them. Talohn grinned and swung round the large piece of detached wall that was his cover and fired down the corridor. The bolt skimmed above a head, close enough to split hairs. Talohn cursed. It's as if these bastards are being protected by a goddamn deity! he said inwardly. He whipped back behind cover, catching a small graze on his arm before he could avoid it. Nothing major. Meanwhile, Tanus had snatched up a grenade, biting off the pin and lobbing it at the attackers. A roar of "GRENADE!" was heard as they scattered away from it. A loud explosion, big, but not big enough to demolish another set of walls echoed through the building, but it appeared none of the enemy was injured. They simply returned to their cover and began firing again.

Talohn was getting suspicious. Maybe it was just paranoia, but why did it seem that those invulnerable bastards across the way never seemed to be taking any risks to kill them, like most of the enemy did. They were just taking it calmly, popping up quickly to fire one or two shots before darting back down again. They never even seemed to be aiming for lethal shots. The two squads had sustained minor injuries, even though there seemed to be much more of their assailants than there was of them. It was almost as if--

"Freeze."

The voice had came calmly and confidently, but had a coldness and surprising sharpness to it. It was nothing to be quite alarmed at, it could be just Lucky or someone getting annoyed and trying a different, yet pointless, tactic. If it wasn't for the fact that it had been said calmly, Talohn wouldn't have noticed a thing. Except the attackers from across the way had stopped firing.

And the voice had come from behind them.

Talohn turned slowly. Standing there was a group of armed men, rifles aimed at their chests and fingers on the triggers. The commander of them seemed to be the middle one. The group behind them had hurried up from behind and aimed their rifles at the squads. Totally outmanoeuvred.

"Drop your weapons. You're surrounded."

Tanus hissed angrily, but put his rifle down. Lucky and Kira did the same. Everyone else seemed uneasy, but at gestures from squad leaders, they dropped their weapons also. The man smiled cunningly.

"Good." He gestured to the men behind. "Search them."

The smoke filled the bunker, burning Havock's eyes. She grabbed at her helmet wondering how the seal would have broken to allow the offensive mist access. Then she realized it hadn't she had just managed to hit her head hard enough against the durasteel floor to make her eyes water. The awareness of her surroundings slowly came back into focus. She was on the ground, her face in rubble that used to be part of a wall. Her mind raced backwards replaying the events that had just occurred before her.

Her vision had been obstructed but she could see the man they were inching towards, something wasn't right about the situation. She could just tell from the tone of his voice. He was too nervous, to confident, to manipulative, all at the same time. Aeos and Khalldryn were approaching him, she had ordered them to search the sullen man. Then there was nothing. Blackness and fog.

A hand grasped her shoulder and pulled roughly on the platoon commander. She looked up into the red-stripped armor of Garryll. "What the hell is the sitch? And speak softly my head is pounding." She waved off his held out hand and climbed to her feet on her own, still holding her battered head.

"No twenty on Aeos yet, but we can see an opening that the blast created. Permission to pursue?"

Havock motioned to Jamasis to join her and the Blackjack SL. The trooper was reluctant, he was trying to move a large piece of support beam that had fallen in the path. "Jamasis, now!"

The ASL set his jaw in frustration but knew better than to disobey his superiors orders. He jogged over to the pair and nodded. "Wraith can go look for Aeos, don't let us slow the rest of you down."

"No, we can't lose a whole squad to find one person. That and Aeos will never stop yelling at me if I let you do that, and I can't deal with a lecture right now. I want you to join up under Garryll's command and pursue that fraker. I want to know who's in charge. Then find them and then I want his or her ass dead or extremely uncomfortable when I catch up."

Garryll shifted his weight. "You aren't coming with us?"

"I'm going to look for the good squad leader, who better not have gotten herself killed. I'd like to keep Quillia with me in case Aeos is injured." Havock waited to get an affirmative from Jamasis before continuing. "Perfect, now move your asses. I don't want to lose them."

The men turned quickly and began barking orders, in less than two minutes the corridor was quiet once again. "Got anything on the scanner?"

Quillia nodded. "She's over there." The medic pointed to a large pile of rubble which was half obstructed by what was left of a door.

Havock glanced over to see the scan. "She's alive. Good, lets dig her out of that crap before she gets more pissed off than I'm sure she already is."

Awww, pity that we can't leave the XO! Came Saphira's sarcastic thought as a stray bolt blasted past her head.  Rolling her eyes as she looked over her shoulder down the hall. They had been caught, for the moment as the clatter of weapons was heard. However, she wouldn't go down without a fight.

While the thugs started to pat down the first set of troopers, a couple others aimed their own weapons on the others. Reminding them to not try anything funny. Too late for that. They didn't have time for games and Saphira knew if they had them tied down, there wouldn't be any time for a super escape.

Fingering her blade, she knew she would have to react fast. A slight head turn and node to Madman was all the indication she would need for a distraction. Spinning to her right, she launched herself into the nearest Mercenary  and flew the blade out to strike the second in the left thigh. Giving Madman  the few seconds to reach and pull loose their weapons. The Mercs reacted quickly however. The one Saphira tackled was stronger then she realised and slammed her back up against the wall.

"Fight Back!"

Someone yelled.  The female wasn't sure who it was as Saph kicked up and twisted in the mans grip.  Bending down she fingered at a weapon hanging in his belt and managed to pull it loose. Flipping it up before he could stop her and shooting him in the side.

"Nice work!" Madman's voice called over as she looked to see he has made work of the one she had injured  with her blade. Pulling her blade from his thigh he tossed it to her. The blade flicking a few drops of blood as she caught it and they jumped back into the fray.

However long this is, I'm fairly annoyed because I'd written several hundred words when the comnet deleted it....

Jamasis had checked and re-checked his gun after it had jammed. It had nothing to do with the gun, in the end. All that had happened was a problem with the ammunition clip. Two shots had gone into his gun when there should only have been one. Neither had been able to travel down the barrel, so it had just jammed. After carefully removing both, Jamasis had some time to think about the gun.It was, actually, surprisingly good. Other than the obvious improvements, when looking for the problem he had found it was made of a much tougher material; which was why the barrel had stayed intact, and it's mechanisms were more efficient.

"Hello? Anyone home?" Garryll asked Jamasis.

"Yeah, just thinking. Are we going to catch anyone at this rate?"

"No, I doubt it. But we know where they're going."

"We do?"

"The MOL's. Why we're here in the first place."

"Oh, right. So we just run to the launchers?"

"You read my mind." Garryll went on and quickly ordered the two squads to run, in the hope of catching more survivors. Well, except Khalldryn. He seemed to be jogging, calmly, but then again his steps were twice as long as anyone else's.

"Ahead, fifty metres," someone shouted. Instinctively they all fired, and pretty much obliterated the small group ahead of them. As they approached, Jamasis quickly leant down by one of the group who hadn't died straight away; though he doubted any medic in the galaxy could really help him.

"Why did you take the launchers?" asked Jamasis, quietly.

"Get off this dump," the soldiers whispered, hoarsely, before closing his eyes.

So we're killing young boys who want to leave a rubbish tip. Ouch. Then again, what's the difference between here and a lot of planets?

"Hey, I didn't say stop," called out Garryll. With that, both squads began moving forwards again. Within a minute, and another small group that were wiped out instantly, they reached the MOL's. Without alerting anyone, Jamasis, Garryll and Abalar looked at what was happening. Altogether there were maybe thirty, forty survivors. They were taking orders from a slightly older man, who looked a lot more like a veteran than any of the others. They were all trying to remove the MOL's through a second, much larger, entrance that had been hidden from the outside. They had a repulsor-sled that was large enough to take one of the launchers at a time.

"Guess that solves one problem," whispered Jamasis.

"Aye. We need to kill all of these guys first though. Except the leader. Leave him to me, we have to capture him," said Garryll. With that the three of them moved back to the squads.

"Listen up guys," began Garryll.

As she was being searched by one of the mercs, she spotted Saphira out of the corner of her eye. The Twi'lek looked like she was planning something, Lucky knew this from the slight change in Saphira's stance. What is she cooking up now?

The next thing she knew, Saph flew into action, madman was right behind her. In the span of a few seconds, a good brawl was under way. Saph had injured a man and lethally wounded another, Madman had finished the job on Saph's first victim. Lucky took this as their cue to join in. The key to  success when outnumbered was the surprise element, you had to wait a bit and had to know when to act. Done correctly it momentarily stunned and surprised your captors or attackers and had the potential to give you the upper hand.

With a gesture, she grabbed the nearest weapon and fired at the merc in easier reach to her. He fell to the ground in a heap on top of one of the RAIDERS troopers, not wasting any time she grabbed the body from on top of whomever it had landed on and flung it in the direction of one of its comrades. As it became airborne, quickly lost speed and altitude, one of the corpse's boots hit one of his live comrades in the side of the head putting him down as well. For good measure she took out her I77 and made quick work of shooting the downed men either in the chest or in the head.

As she looked up from her work, she saw Kira not far away surveying the scene. She decided to do likewise and was pleased to see that the mercenaries had lost a good amount of people bringing both groups down to a fair number. Opening up a private comm channel she spoke to both Tanus and Kira.

"Now that we've gotten our message across that we need more men, I strongly feel we should get out of here. Earlier I felt confident we had this place under control, I was clearly mistaken; we underestimated these guys and their capabilities. Any thoughts?"

Razor dropped to the ground and slid into cover behind a crate.  Not ten meters from him an enemy trooper was casually smoking a bac stick.

After Garryll had explained the plan it had taken twenty painstaking, slow moving minutes to crawl, squeeze, and slither into position.  Conformation lights were winking on in the upper right had corner of his HUD.

It appeared that everyone was in position and Garryll's voice broke the silence when he whispered quietly, "Go!"

Razor rolled from behind cover and drew his twin DL-77s from the holster on his back.  He shot the poor bastard smoking the bac stick then dove backwards as the slow reacting enemies began to turn, drawing their previously concealed weapons. Razor flipped end over end attempting to land behind the boxes he had started behind while taking as few hits as possible.

Razor sailed backwards as bolts whizzed around him and his trajectory was thrown off as what felt like a sledgehammer pummeled his left wrist.  He hit the ground hard directly behind the boxes thankful that he wasn't dead.

When Razor had jumped into the air during his retreat, Jamasis had leapt out from behind a box on the other side of the hideout and blasted holes into the backs of 12 of the troopers.  Seeing their comrades fall had shocked them and the poorly disciplined enemies had turned and lit up Jamasis with hundreds of bolts.

Razor looked down and saw that his arm had been hit.

"I'm in shock with a wound to the wrist. Not in immediate danger but Abalar or Wrex i could sure use a little help if you had a moment." said Razor calmly.

Then the injured trooper passed out.

While this drama was unfolding and in pairs of two firing squads continued to burst from randomly concealed places whittling down their enemies, Garryll, Aeos, and Havock had climbed across the center beam of the hideout.

"Ready for this?" asked Havock throwing the rope down.

"Ready as I'll ever be" said Garryll.

He slid down the rope and landed next to the Leader of the enemy group. Garryll tapped the man on the shoulder and grinned when he saw the look of shock on the poor nerf herders face.

Garryll attached the winching clip to the back of the man's clothing and shook the cord.  He then dropped to the ground and blasted at the large number of enemies moving in a confused mass attempting to find a stormtrooper to punish.

Havock attached the cord to herself and dropped down on the other end of the line.  Her Body weight combined with the weight of the armor was enough to work as a counter balance which pulled the frightened man straight up to where Aeos was waiting to lovingly administer cuffs to the unfortunate souls wrist.

Havock and Garryll thinned out the crowd considerably and, along with the other troopers randomly popping up they managed to put down all of the men in under ten minutes.

Garryll wiped sweat off his brow and said as Aeos landed beside him holding the bound leader, "Hell of a shit fight, huh?"

Most of the troopers chuckled and Garryll switched to the squad frequency saying, "There you go Razor not stuck on overwatch this time were you?"

After a pause Garryll said again, this time with more urgency, "Razor?"

"Hes over here boss," said Abalar pointing to the prone form of Razor.

"Why not use frags and have a few bangs happen? I mean, look at the place already. It's falling apart, us speeding up the process a bit shouldn't be too bad" someone from RAIDERS suggested.

"Let's get going then!" shouted someone else just as another volley of enemy fire came their way causing a few of them to quickly duck. As Lucky looked behind her, there was a hissing sound and she could see scorch marks on the opposite wall.

"Frags it is" she heard Kira say from beside her. This surprised Lucky a little as the Squad Leader liked to avoid killing or unnecessary force at all cost. So before her SL changed her mind, Lucky got the first frag ready in her hand and in a swift curving motion, lobbed it out into the hallway as another quick volley of enemy fire blasted their way. As she doubled back into the small room they were trapped in, she noticed some scorch marks on her own armor.

"Great...." She muttered to herself as she saw a few people getting their own frags ready.

"Not everyone fire off their frags at once, we'll need some cover fire as we're methodically lobbing these out the door unless we all want to fry our armor and ourselves" she quickly shouted before anyone could do anything.

After she had finished speaking she felt everyone's gaze locked on her form. At this moment she part of her wanted to see the expressions behind the faceplates but part of her was happy that she couldn't see their faces. For all she knew they could think she had gone looney tunes over the years.

"Unless anyone has any other suggestions?" She asked in an irritated tone to no one in particular.

Without a word a few people got their E-45's ready while a few more brandished a fragmentation grenade. One advantage the Stromtroopers had over the mercenaries was that they could effectively communicate silently. After a unanimous agreement involving a lot of finger-pointing, a certain order was decided. Skarr would throw his frag first followed by Atoll, Saph and Tanus. The rest of them would provide cover fire. If all went well they would be able to jump ot of their small unwanted prison sooner rather than later.

"That's what we needed," said Garryll, looking at the unconcious Razor. "Kand, try and see what you can do."

"Right, we need to get these launchers out of here," said Havock. Then, gesturing towards the one prisoner they had taken, "I'll talk to him later. Other than the damaged launcher, we can more or less do what these guys were trying to do before we turned up. Use the repulsor-sled to get them out the larger entrance. Blackjack, work on that. Wraith, get any ammunition or weapons you can find. At the rate these guys are sacrificing themselves, we will probably need it."

Jamasis immediately moved towards the bodies of their dead enemies. The types of gun varied, and were usually obsolete. On the other hand he could see quite a lot of E-11's, which was a good thing. Although his E-45 may be a better weapon, it still worked with it's predecessor's ammunition. There was plenty to go around. Instead of looting the one or two clips each soldier would have on him, he went straight for the proper supply dump.

Ugh, most of this is in ruins, he thought to himself. It was true; a couple of working guns. Several broken guns, or pieces of guns. Lots of ammunition, but for different guns, some empty, some only half full. It would take a while to get something useful.

Plenty of time to think then.

Oh, you again.

We're the same person.

Don't remind me. Anyway, you were saying something?

Oh, you know, just reminding you that you are completely obsessed with the army.

I know that.

And that you are prepared to murder boys who want to leave this place.

Heh, in a strange way that happened to me. Besides, when have I ever worried about that?

And that you don't want to let on how much your shoulder hurts. Or you just don't care. It's almost a good thing you've taken a beating so many times you don't care anymore.

Shut up.

It was true though; Jamasis shoulder did hurt. The blaster bolts hadn't even made contact with him, but it had instantly melted the armour. It had dried again in a few seconds, but without even checking he knew his shoulder was badly burnt. And it hurt. Not enough to cause him many problems, but it reminded Jamasis of his foolishness. Every mission, it seemed, he would go on and do something stupid or potentially suicidal. And once again, he had been wounded because of it. Maybe he was lucky that the shot missed his head, maybe this time it hadn't been his fault that he had been hit. That wasn't the point.

Jamasis searched through the clips a while longer, eventually managing to find four full clips for himself that fitted his gun, and maybe twenty more to give to anyone else. Hopefully the other Wraith's had thought of that to. He quickly took a grenade to replace the one he had thrown earlier, and hurried back to the MOL's.
