I’m sick of this she thought numbly.
So…sick

Her fingers poking through the burnt spaces of her spandex gloves itched around the grip of the DC-15 she held.

“We need to pass through this field. “ she muttered to herself. Her throat dried as fear gripped at her in a vice-like grip. Methodically she cut the strings that held her heart and fear however.
She was the closest thing they had right now to a specialist.  Of course she would be getting the shitty job. Unless.

“No. Too risky.”

“I’m sorry Aeos but could you help out here maybe when you have the time!”

She glanced left and stared myopically at Jae.  The woman glanced back at her curious from behind the boulder she had scavenged. She’d need to move soon however as snipers from above were picking boulders and any hiding location apart with expert marksmanship.

I hate this she thought again and ducked her head away from the pieces of earth splintering into her face.

“All squads pull back. I need a lot of space to work with those mines. Pull back and retreat. Lets make the boys up there relax their fingers and give you a break.”

“What the frak Captain.” She heard an unfamiliar female voice spoke over the small device plugged into her ear. She assumed it was Abalar. She had studied that woman’s profile. A lot of potential Aeos thought disinterestedly.

“Don’t worry Abalar. I know this might be infringing on your squad’s policy, but I’ve heard that Black Jack likes things go boom. Just cover my ass please.”

For a moment it was quiet in her ear and Aeos could imagine the female might be grinning into her mouth piece. Perhaps.
“Black Jack retreating.”

In the distance she heard Abalar shouting the orders out soon followed with Lucky and Zes belching the same orders whom she assumed had overheard her conversation with Abalar. With a flick of her hand, Raiders followed suit.

The building loomed small yet intimidating in front of her.
What a shit design she thought to herself studying the ancient  style or rather the lack of style.

It had an assuming appearance of boredom on which Snipers and various other enemy elements were hiding their asses while shooting down at them. She smirked as one topped over the wall with his sniper rifle dropping along with him to the ground beneath. Well, at least the WildCard platoon were keeping them busy for the next few minutes.

She hobbled out of her spot and darted forward while trying to remain blended and inconspicuous . She dropped to her stomach as she soon as she found the first series of shrubbery decorated in an aweful garden.  She coughed in the dust kicking up into face but continued to leopard crawl towards the nearest mines.  Before she however managed said feat a clump of clay from the ground spat up into her face as a bolt missed her with bare inches.  She heard a soft moan and the trooper who had shot at slumped out from behind his hiding spot of piled bags and rocks. Shit. She head nearly forgotten about the merry bunch in the front.

“Keep my ass covered.”

She would be screwed if another  enemy element spotted her dodgey figure crawling towards them.
She had reached the first mine. Half-hidden underneath the rocks and pebbles she lightly brushed around the object trying to clear away whatever obscurities she could in order to view the model.
Her eyes narrowed in suspicion.

She barely recognized the design, nevermind the model. Whoever had the money to toss out custom-designed frags would be a powerful entity.  She sighed and started to slowly turn herself around and make the journey back with the hopes of surviving it. There was no chance she could do this the traditional way. Under normal circumstances, she would have prepared for frequency trigger frags. That was her fatal assumption.  The rule of thumb with a lot of the grenades were that they contained electronic components users could use to connect to digital devices to set them off with a button. That was assuming the user had an excellent knowledge base of coding and understanding the language of frequencies and knowing it could be jammed. She had hoped this user might be that stupid, but instead she had gotten a touch-sensitive frag with an unfamiliar casing and most likely of an foreign design.

“Stay put Wildcard.” Ordered into her mouth piece. She felt the ground shattered behind her as one of the enemy troopers released his fire of a heavier design and impact. She grimaced.

Frak. No. I need to get out of this effing job.

She felt sapped of her energy and will to fight. Right now however she compelled to her duty as an Imperial. She wished there was however a way to disconnect herself from that twisted sense of patriotism as she could disconnect from her own fear.

She was a good few meters back and she still kept going.
She unclipped one frag from her belt and held it up for Lucky and Abalar to see. The other two females nodded and copied her motion. They were going to make things go boom.

“I cannot defrag those mines. Three frags should be enough. I cannot guarantee that it will clear our minefield entirely but it should sort out our problems behind the mine-field.”

---  0200 hours, Horn Genetic Telecommunications, Abridon ---

Verk, or as he was known to the HGT, Morgan Geist, sat with his feet kicked up on his desk and one of his swords across his lap, a sharpening stone methodically being dragged across the already razor sharp edge. The room was small yet comfortable; Verk and the leaders of HGT were the only ones who had access. Twenty-five computer screens hung from the far wall; each showed a different image with the time and the number of the correlating security camera in the bottom right hand corner. A dual screen computer on the desk controlled each screen and each camera.

Several weeks ago Verk had been assigned the task of infiltrating HGT. He was the first step in finding out who was siphoning off money from the VE. In due to he knew Wildcard would be right behind him and this group would be brought down just like every other that had attempted to harm the Vast Empire in some way.

It was by no means easy gaining the trust of Horn, but he weaseled his way in. The Company was looking for a new head of security, and with the numerous contacts and allies Verk had gained in the past; he was easily able to come up with a new identity that was more than qualified for the job. Changing his appearance was another story altogether but not too hard. He let his hair grow out longer then he usually let it, but only a few inches or so. As well he let his facial hair grow out which he kept in a neatly groomed goatee. Green cargo pants, black military boots, a leg holster, and a black tee were his everyday garb, along with the sheaths for his swords crossed on his back and a black military cap situated comfortably on his head. He was pleased with how everything was going, and knew his disguise was top notch. Not even those who knew him in the VE would recognize him.

So here sat Morgan Geist, Head of Security at Horn Genetic Telecommunications, ex-military security with all the credentials and all the needed knowledge to uphold and protect the goings on at HGT. Verk smirked at the thought.

--- 1354 hours, Several days later, 16 hours before the abduction of the Wildcard Squad Leaders ---

Morgan sat at his desk, his feet kicked up as he scanned each and every screen for any changes at all. Dropping his feet to the floor Morgan raised a hand to his face and attempted to rub the sleep from his eyes. Everyone had been running around like madmen the past few hours which required Morgan to work double overtime to make sure nothing went astray and his bosses were not disturbed.  I need some coffee. This is getting ridiculous. Standing Morgan left the security office, making sure to lock the door behind him, and made his way to the auto caf for a well deserved mug of warm caffeinated liquid.

Morgan picked up a large mug and poured himself a generous amount, adding sweetener and milk since he liked his coffee light and sweet. Stirring the contents with a spoon Morgan lifted the cup to his lips and took a long drink. The hot liquid felt good and he could already feel the caffeine and sugar working its magic. Feeling more awake then he did several minutes ago Morgan turned on his heel only to find himself coming face to face with his employer, Hector Horn, owner of Horn Genetic Telecommunications.

“I am glad to see you are keeping yourself awake Mr. Geist. I must apologize for having you work so much the past two days, but it has all been necessary in light of some news I received early yesterday morning.” Hector said. His voice was calm and he spoke with his chest puffed out.

Hector Horn was skinny man, and by no means was he physical. But what he lacked in brawn he more than made up for in brain. Hector was extremely smart and quite devious as well. He also had no need for any muscle himself for he had numerous guards in his service that he was paying quite handsomely to say the least. Hector was short, only 5’ 7” with short combed hair and a small pair of glasses that he always wore for his vision.

“Of course Mr. Horn, it’s not a problem at all. Besides, the pay is good and I get to sit on my ass all day.” Morgan replied with a laugh.

The two men shared a good laugh before Hector set a hand to Morgan’s shoulder and his other on his own chest to stop the fit of laughter.

“Ah… ha ha… yes I would have to agree with you on that one. While everyone else is running around preparing for our visitors getting everything ready, you get to sit down all day.” Hector said fighting off the last few chuckles.

“Visitors? I was not aware we were having visitors. With the way my guards have been running around I thought we were preparing for a war.” A quizzical look came across Morgan’s face.

“Well I guess I should tell you now that we are in the same room together. I received word recently that the Vast Empire is sending one of its platoons here. We are not sure why but we can only imagine. So my men  are going to kidnap the squad leaders and we are going to have ourselves a little party.” Hector said standing straight and brushing his suit jacket with both hand.

Even though he was not showing it on the outside Verk was shocked at this news. Even more so he had no way of warning Wildcard that they would not be coming in unexpected. All he could do was nod and agree with the plans that Hector was telling him.

“So as you can see Mr. Geist, our unwelcome guests will be arriving in a few more hours. I hope you will be ready with security and on top of your game?” Hector asked looking at Morgan and raising an eye brow.

“Of course sir. Everything will be locked down and tight as a can of nerf pellets.” Morgan responded, his voice calm even with the thoughts swirling around his head.

“Good to hear. Now I must be off. Enjoy your coffee.” Turning on a calculated dime Hector Horn turned and left Verk in a daze, his coffee cup still in his hand.

--- 1200 hours, Head Security Office, Moments after capture of Squad leaders ---

Morgan sat at his desk, his gaze glued to his monitor as he watched the four unconscious bodies of the Wildcard Squad Leaders being dragged into the complex. He watched closely as they were dragged through the building and finally to their holding cell. Morgan watched for hours as one by one each officer began to awake. Morgan could hear everything they said, and see everything they did. One of them looked up, a red skinned twi’lek, Saph, and stared hard at the motionless camera that stared back at her. She made a rude gesture, and then drew a line across her neck and pointed at the camera. Well, she’s pissed. Morgan thought to himself. For the next few hours he watched as each was dragged one by one into the interrogation room and beaten to within inches of their lives. It tore at Verk knowing he was so close and yet could do nothing to help his fellow soldiers. Sighing he turned away from the screen.

--- 2358 hours, Attack on Horn Genetic Telecommunications has begun ---

Morgan looked like a madman in his office. He still had to keep his cover or at least for awhile longer. He was hitting buttons and setting off alarms, shouting orders into comms, and trying to keep himself seated as explosions rocked the building. Glancing up at the screen he could only smile. He watched as the troopers of the Vast Empire assaulted the complex. It was going to be tough with security beefed up as it was, but they would get through eventually.

More importantly he was following the squad leaders. He watched as they blew their way to freedom, and eventually happened upon Kane Gaddesh, Head of Interrogations. Morgan shook his head at the brutality Saph showed the man. Prick had it coming I suppose. With the squad leaders well on their way, and their troopers making slow progress outside, it was high time Morgan dropped the charade and went to help the SLs. Dazed and confused, they could probably use some help getting outside.

Checking the slugthrower in his leg holster and the swords on his back Verk took one last glance to see where the SLs were and dashed from the room to find them. Everyone was running around like chickens with their heads cut off, or at least not the military types were. The guards employed by Hector were running around in groups of threes, guns in hand trying to get the situation under control. Knowing every well the troopers would be firing from the outside in, Verk thought it best to stay away from the windows and keep to the stairs.

Verk moved as quickly as he could through the building, bracing himself up against a wall every now and again as a grenade or a mine would go off. Shaking his head Verk made his way to the cell where the SLs had been, knowing they weren’t there he began to make his way in the direction they went. He knew these halls like the back of his hand, and did his best to find the SLs before they got into something they couldn’t blow their way out of. It wasn’t too hard finding them, bleeding wounds always left blots of blood on the floor, and in this case it was no different. Every now and again along the trail he would come across a body, a guard who was unlucky enough to cross paths with the group.

Verk knew he was getting close but he had to hurry. He knew most of the guards were on the western side of the building dealing with the troopers outside. But since leaving his office there was no telling who had strayed from the battle. Picking up his pace Verk finally reached the SLs, however he was not the first.

Saph, Havock, Garryll and Anival were corned by five heavily armed guards. The group had nowhere to go, backed into a corner like rats. Havock sat on the floor holding her head which was bleeding, though it looked like it had slowed. The groups weapons were on the floor, probably out of ammo and thus useless. Verk knew he was good, but he knew there was no way he was going to take down all five guards alone. If he could take at least one or even two tops, the SLs would be able to take the rest. Reaching over his shoulder Verk drew one of his swords, the keen edge singing as it was unsheathed. Verk still had the essence of surprise, and he would use it to his advantage like he always did.

~*~

The four Squad Leaders stood with their backs against the wall, nowhere left to run, nowhere to hide. They had used all of their ammo taking down several guards as they made their escape, but now they were empty. Garryll had his hand on blade which was still out of sight for the moment. He would have attacked, but the guards in front of him had more ammo and a bigger gun then he did.

Saph clenched her fists. She was pissed and wanted to beat the skulls in of the guards standing mere inches away from her. Anival was tending to Havock the best he could who was still holding her bleeding head.

“Well, looks like this is the end…” One of the guards began but was cut off as he lurched forward slightly.

Everyone stopped breathing and the other guards looked at their mate in confusion, and then in shock as slowly a blade tip emerged from the center of his chest and slowly continued through until a good six inches of the blade had pierced the man’s chest. Taking advantage the able squad leaders jumped their captors and quickly dispatched them.

~*~

Verk pushed the blade as far as he could through the man’s back and out the front of his chest, piercing his spine and killing him quickly. Pulling the blade out the body dropped to the floor limp. In seconds Anival, Garryll and Saph bum rushed the other guards. With a quick slash Garryll took the throat of one and rushed the other. In moments the fight was over.

Unexpected to Verk however, the Squad Leaders did not recognize him in his disguise, and he soon found himself with his hands in the air and three rifles pointed in his direction.

Blackjack and Wraith sped forward at a half sprint  as Aeos gave the order to retreat.
No sooner had they cleared the danger zone had the mines gone off with an earth shattering force that sent the remaining opposition flying backwards.

“Clear, Blackjack, Wraith move in now!” yelled Abalar.

“Wooo, about time” called Corvin excitedly.

The now disgruntled building guard where steadily re-grouping and returning to cover.
Only 12 or so remained almost an even fight between the forces, the forces rushed into cover Drehel landed a few feet from Loran and Zeshaun on one side and Corvin and Abalar on the other leaning over the wall to get a strait aim for the opposition.

Razor dove in behind Loran “we still have sniper fire coming from somewhere”.

Abalar shot a look of pure annoyance “where are Iron Horse they’r running late”.

A bolt whistled past Drexhel’s ear causing him to twitch and duck to the side.

“Anyone have a grenade?”.

Corvin looked round with a grin of sheer delight holding a frag “yes”.

Drexhel was starting to feel a twinge of rage building up “throw it then!”

the smile disapeared from Corvins lips “say please”.

Drexhel ignored the seemingly mocking Corvin and returned to trying for a clear shot.
The bolt fire was becoming more and more intense as the mine’s where gone the, guard seemed to be trying harder to put the squads down more so they where getting careless. Corvin finally threw the grenade well placed as it was a few flying limbs came over the rear wall. “Happy” he smirked “yes very” Drexhel replied in a dead tone.  “Come on what are we doing there are eight left shoot them!” Abalar shouted.
Zeshaun and Jamasis made a few archs of fire from there cover as Drexhel, and Razor
made a few clean strait shots piercing hole clean through fleshy torso’s, the archs themselves claimed another two that tried to move sending there body's flying from the speed they moved and to the rate they fell.

The remaining guard stood putting up there hands Drexhel in his stim induced state failed to realise this was a surrender and blew a hole through the gut of the middle guard, Loran grabbed his side arm “they’v surrendered hold your fire”.
Alater moved scarily quick to the confirm the captives jabbing them with his slug thrower to there knee’s, Abalar walked calmly forward the the remaining middle guard. “so what are we looking at in there, tell me or i start pulling triggers”.
the man spat at Aby, she nodded to Corvin who struck the guard with the butt of his rifle “next time it’s a bullet”. Abalar looked like she was pondering what to do next.
“Corvin Loran take the left one find out what you can , Jamasis Zeshaun take the one on the right do the same, Aleter you stay with me on the one and Razor keep Drexhel aside try to calm his nerves, and watch out for any snipers remaining who knows what they might pull.”

Corvin was smiling. The guard wasn't.

"Chapter Eight of the Imperial Army and Planetary Defense Operating Manual covers proper interrogation techniques and procedures." Corvin explained, a strangely cheery tone to his voice. "More particularly, it goes into limitations on treatment of prisoners, and the rights of those prisoners. Good thing we're not Army troopers, eh?"

Corvin paused, helmet tucked under one arm, and leaned forward. Loran was still keeping his rifle trained on the prisoner. There was a screech from nearby, followed by panicked babbling. Ice was evidently as efficient as ever.

The Blackjack and Wraith troopers not occupied with the prisoners were keeping watch, weapons raised as they scanned the rooftops for any surviving snipers. Not that they didn't trust Iron Horse to do the job right, but some things you never could be too sure about.

"Am I boring you?" Corvin asked pleasantly, after judging the man had taken enough time to think about it.

The man didn't reply. He didn't move at all, in fact. Still alive though, judging by the way his eyes kept darting to the rifles the stormtroopers around him were carrying. Corvin sincerely hoped he wouldn't be stupid enough to make a grab for one of them. It would be a waste of time and a perfectly good blaster bolt.

"Guard locations. Compound layout. Where the prisoners are. Now."

Sullen, the man remained silent.

Corvin shot him.

The man's lower leg vanished in a ball of flame, the wound self-cauterizing almost instantly, and the air suddenly smelled of roasted meat. The man screamed, then started to whimper as he went into shock.

"Stim please." Corvin said over his shoulder. Loran handed the autoinjector over, and Corvin stabbed it into the man's neck. He jerked about for several seconds , then groaned, and started to babble incoherently.

"Locations. Layout. Prisoner locations." Corvin said, slowly and clearly, irritated. Interrogation wasn't exactly his strong suit.

Maybe they'd have been better off if Loran had been the one doing the talking.

The prisoner looked up, eyes wide, and started to talk nonstop.

"Don't know, oh force, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts..
"How many guards?"

"It hurts, it hurts..."

"How many!"

"Twenty..."

"Where?"

"Don't know, dunno, dunno, please don't, please..."

Corvin sighed, glancing at Loran. The other trooper shrugged.

There was a quick argument between Zehaun and Abalar, followed by a pair of stun shots, and Abalar rose to her feet.

"We have what we need." the Blackjack squad leader stated, then turned away, evidently transmitting the information to the other squads. Corvin replaced his helmet on his head, sighing.

"What about this one?" Loran asked.

"Put him down."

Sighing, Corvin flipped the charge setting on his carbine's side, and fired.

There was a thump as the now-headless guard fell over. Corvin noticed there were now flakes of ash on his boots.

"At least three squads or so inside, roughly twenty five targets. Well armed, with decent body armour." Abalar explained over the com. "If they were telling the truth, of course. No news about Garryll or the others, although they did see a group of prisoners taken inside a few hours ago."

"You got all that from the one guard, ma'am?" Corvin said, incredulous.

"Ice helped. He was surprisingly cooperative."

"That...doesn't..." Corvin began, then stopped.

Zeshaun was gesturing to the other Wraith troopers, waving them forwards.

Abalar glanced over at her counterpart.

"How do you suggest we handle this, Gunnery Sergeant?"

"Don't shoot?" The man winced and slowly dropped his weapon.

Havock had one hand on the fresh gash above her eye where the bandage had fallen away and the other was holding a pistol pointed at his head. "Who in the hell are you?"

"Which one of you is Senior Sargent Katash?"

Havock dropped the hand at her eye and quickly stepped forward, the pistol digging into the man's head. "You are alive because, so far, you haven't tried to kill one of us. That gives you one chance. So here it is your last chance, who are you?"

"Verkur, code 5-9-bravo-tango, ma'am."

Saphira let out a short laugh. "What is that supposed to mean?"

Havock just stared at him, their eyes locked daring the other to look away. There had been a briefing, weeks ago, she had no clue what it was about and frankly it pissed her off at the time. Tanus just told her that anyone giving the code 59BT was her new trooper. Now here this person was standing in front of her from nowhere giving her the same code. She started to wonder if she was even conscious anymore, if this was a very screwed up dream.

She blinked and slowly lowered her weapon.

"Hav, what are you doing?" Anival still had the rifle he got off the guard trained on Verkur.

Her eyes never left the blue eyed man in front of her. "Lower your weapons, he's with us." Her voice was little more than a whisper.

"How do you know that, Havock?" Garryll's fists were still clenched.

"He gave me the right code, just do it. You, Verkur, tell me a very short story that makes sense and explains why the hell you are here. I'm going to find that medpack and take more pills before I decapitate myself." She stomped off holding her very sore head and started to riffle through the pack.

The others exchanged an uncomfortable glance before slowly taking their weapons off Verkur. "That's better, Corporal Verkur at your service ma'am."

"It looks like we went the wrong way." Saphira gestured towards the sound of weapons fire back to the east of the building. "Let's fix that, I really want to hit something."

Havock put another bandage on her head to stop the bleeding and squinted from the sting the bacta caused. She looked in the direction Saph was pointing and shrugged. At this point the mission had gone so wrong it was difficult to connect the dots anymore. She was tired, sore, battered, and missed her squad. The area they were standing in was a forest, all around them she could see the city scape poking its way through the rows of trees.

Verkur looked back at Havock to say something then gasped. He reached out and grabbed the very confused squad leader's forearms and the two of them slammed to the forest floor. "What in the hell are you doing?!?" Havock punched Verk in the arm and tried to get up only for him to tighten his grip. She growled and started to say something but paused when the tip of a sniper rifle tapped her shoulder.

Slowly her eyes traveled up the barrel and looked into the face of a young man dressed in camo from head to toe, he had a smirk on his face she would have loved to slap off. "So you guys must be the missing squad leaders. Gunner's last message was asking about you lot."

Havock glared up at him but remained silent. Garryll slowly returned to a standing position. "Gunner?"

"Heh, sorry. I'm Viad Doeore my commander is Gunner Lorou, he was supposed to be meeting with you, but you were all jumped. He was injured when those security goons stuck their noses in, he is now with your squads. We got a report through a while back, but the comms have been twitchy. The fighting is heavy and there's interference. We were on out way to see if we can help out."

"Wait." Anival looked very agitated, he kicked at a branch. "Who are you people?"

Viad was looking oddly at Verkur, he took a deep breath and signaled for the rest of his men to stand down. "Caise Resistance. We are former employees of HGT, your people found out about us and hired us to gather intel...among other things."

"So you were headed to the battle? Cause it sounds like it may be over. Can you contact them?" Havock twisted her pistol to the side checking the ammo. The tell-tale signs of battle had indeed died down, that worried her. She glanced down at Verkur. He had worked for HGT for months, if these guys were tricking them he would know. The dark haired man nodded slightly, which allowed Havock to release a breath she didn't realize she had been holding. "Care if we join you?"

====

"Aeos, right?" Gunner limped over to the woman who seemed to be in charge of one of the squads in the area. He was staying away from the guys in red after the impromptu torture session he just witnessed. The blond and rather hairy woman looked pissed. She had her arms crossed, and her eyes glared at the other squads. He almost jumped when her gaze turned to him.

Ae looked the injured man up and down. "Can I help you?"

He licked his lips and fidgeted. He couldn't predict how they would react. "I'm the leader of a resistance, and my men are on their way. According to the message I just received your SL's are with them. They sent orders to infiltrate the building and clear it out, except for one guy they want for questioning."

"No."

"No?"

Aeos turned her body to stand face to face with the man, she squared her shoulders and looked ready to punch him. "You tell me exactly what my SL said. Word for word Gunner."

He raised an eyebrow but shrugged and looked back at his datapad. "Umm, it says: tell the squad to get off their damn asses and get in that damn building and find that kriffin one eyed bastard before I blow up the building and call it a day. "

Aeos smirked. "That's her, alright. Heh, well at least she hasn't gotten herself killed yet."

"The guy she is talking about, he's in charge of the prison and the guards. He's a piece of work, he scared the CEO most days. And he's not going to be easy to take down. One thing I can promise you is that he is one evil bastard."

Ae nodded and got to work getting the squads ready to assult the building. All of the squads were spread out along the eastern side of the building clearing out snipers and any random guards. It wouldn't take much to round them up and move into the now cleared entrances of the building.

OOC:
The SL's are on their way from the west. Lets return to the original plan, IH/RAIDERS go in the rear entrance and BJ/Wraith go to the front entrance. You should have no problem getting into the building but its by no means empty once you get in there. You are looking for a big hairy guy with an eye patch, tell you what you guys can come up with his name first come first serve. Figure about 20 guards inside and they are well trained. And since you guys have been torturing and patrolling the guards have had time to booby trap the joint.

Your objective: get in the building, find the one eyed man and take control of the mainframe computer in the CEO's office.

Missing the show, two troopers finished breaking into a back door to a building. It was a mere 3 stories, but at the top the Sharpshooter had managed to evade detection up until now. Madman would take point, as he’d rush in, a soldier turning down the stairs and aiming down at the two intruders “Oh boy, we got company.” He’d carelessly explain to his partner for this, as he’d lift his blaster, and let a couple rounds shoot up, one managing to strike the militiaman’s trigger hand, blowing right through the middle and sending chunks of bone and flesh as the automatic rifle fell down and as it bounced down the stairs, let off a few stray rounds that shot up and managed to strike a man in the calf.

Tr0y wasn’t o sure he could rely on the slightly more experienced Iron Horse as he opted the go and bludgeon a grunt guard’s own head in before the order’s came in  Grabbing the wounded fellas up, he and Troy would return, dragging the men with little care for they’re physical well being. Lucky was they’re but she didn’t seem happy – on top of that, those red guys were here, seemed like it was a party now “Hey Lucky, you remembered how much I love parties. Though not a damn person left to dance with – well no one that’s not already bound and ready to go.” He’d reply as Lucky shook her head, recollecting just how much he hated parties from the last gathering the Stormtrooper corps. Had some time back.

Soon they all moved out, soldiers forming into small groups with a fluent contact to they’re leaders via built in comm. Channels, as they efficiently worked to take out security and anti-personal forces stationed in a new building. Things were moving smoothly, easily…but that was never a good sign – a battle that was too easyusually meant…

“Back up! It’s a trap!” a Trooper shouted out as he rounded around a corner but it was too late as rocket exploded, the force, the shrapnel, the heat, all of it and he almost came out one piece…well, except for the bleedin’ stump that  was once his right leg. It seemed that there was a particularly nasty group of heavily armed militia armed with unusually powerful gear such as rocket launchers that might discourage any thoughtless advances toward the target location.

If the Twilek had any hair on on her body, it would have been standing on ends.  SUprised as Havok had said this man was one of them.

"I still don't trust him." She spat under her breath. No sooner then turning her head, then she rounded to find the two on the ground. Saphira had missed the quick exchange of words as her blood boiled over and fighting instinct kicked into gear.

"Saph no!" Havock tried to tell her. Too late as  the female did a roundhouse kick to Verk's shoulder/head area and sent him flying off her.

"What the hell!" He rolled and looked up to Saphira as she looked like she was about to rush him when Havock grabbed her right arm to hold her back.  Anival grabbed Verk to to do the same.

"He's a friend." Havock replied as Saphira relaxed.

"I know." She turned with a sly smile.

"Then why the hell did you hit me?" Verk started as he stood and pulled his arm away. "Trying to keep me from hurting her?"  The other SL's shook their head.

"No. Keep her from killing you." Ani told him.

"Whatever, let's get out of here.." He grumbled and stormed off.

Havock sighed as the Twilek cocked her hips amusingly to the right. "You really know how to make friends don't you." It wasn't a question. Saphira chuckled and turned. Seeing that her bandaged  needed to be changed she rose her hand telling the others to start ahead while she helped re-wrap Havocks head wound.

"You know me. Now hold still. Taking all the pills won't help if you bleed out or get infected." The twilek chided.  Knowing very well that Havock wouldn't bleed out, but the chances of infection were pretty high until they got out of here and to a real medical center. "Can't have you out of your mind on drugs now. I don't think your kids would like that. On the other hand, Ani might." Saphira kid as she finished the bandage. Backing up as Havock took a playfull swing at her friend.

"Let's catch up. You know they can't do a thing without us." Havock replied as she took a couple pills. Saphira  cleaned up and slung the packs on. "Thanks Saphy."

"No prob."

"You never did answer the question. Why did you attack him? You knew very well  I said he was good to go with the numbers." Havock rose an eye to her as the trotted up to the group.

"I told you guys I wanted to hit something. He gave as good as an excuse as anything." Saphira replied with a devious smile.

"How you manage to keep your squad alive still amazes me." Havock stated. Both women started to chuckle as they approached the rest of the guys who looked back at them.

"Do I even want to know?" Ani asked.

Gates glared at Saph, who was still grinning. The fact that an officer would kick a soldier in the head for no particular reason other than they felt like it. All it did was reduce soldiers' trust in one another, fragmented command authority  and made you look like you treated your fellow Stormtrooper like crap. Gates looked at the non-com that had joined them. He was rubbing a red welt on the side of his head, a bruise quickly forming.

"You okay, mate?" Gates asked in an undertone. "You'll have to forgive Sergeant Striker, she's in a rather poor mood."

"Yeah, I coulda guessed," the man replied. "Look, I'm sorry I couldn't get you guys out sooner; I had to keep my cover and I actually didn't know where you were."

"It's all right," Gates said. "Thanks for pulling our asses out of the fire."

Anival nodded in agreement and Verk grinned crookedly. The Resistance sniper walked quickly, leading the Stormtroopers back to the rising clamor of battle. They spread out, each raising his or her weapon. Garryll's A-280, battered with use and age. Despite it, he'd kept the weapon in tip-top shape and had gotten a host of quartermasters, tinkerers, armorers and mechanics he'd met over his career to upgrade the barrel, stock, scope, body and power flow. It was deceptive in its age and use, unlike its owner, a lean, mean, killing machine.

He grinned at the mental metaphor, and replaced his crimson helmet, becoming the faceless, anonymous Stormtrooper that was the fist and hammer of the Empire. His HUD appeared in his peripheral vision, giving him a basic city map, IFF icons and suit integrity. It felt good to be home, and he could say whatever he wanted as long as the comm was off. He muttered a few basic combat mottoes to calm his nerves in the approach of imminent combat. Verk was throwing side-along glances at the four SLs, apparently envying the fact they actually had body armor.

"Comms check," Gates said suddenly. "Can any of you hear me?"

Silence answered him. Gates sighed; they hadn't been working together long enough to require anything but the universal hand-signals, and hadn't moved all of their helmet comlinks from the personal squad channels to a higher one, like the Wildcard Platoon channel. He pulled his bucket off.

"Hey," he whispered. "Get your comm channels onto Wildcard. We'll need it to communicate with whoever we meet first, and I don't feel like learning Raiders, Wraith and Iron Horse's comm channels."

Gates caught the end of Anival's chuckle as the newly-minted Wraith SL switched channels. Havock was next on, easily blinking through the menus of her HUD and flicking onto the Platoon-level communications. Saph was apparently having problems. She removed her helmet and cursed, the head-tails of her species falling out of the modified helmet.

"Keep your voice down, Saph," Gates cursed to himself, willing the fiery woman to speak softer. "Emperor knows what they've got in there and in the city."

Viad held up a fist, the universal signal for "Hold." The Stormtroopers stopped dead; Saph almost walked into Havock before she realized they were stopped. She immediately slammed the helmet back on. "Contacts," whispered the Resistance man.

The Stormtroopers scattered; Gates knelt in a shallow depression, rifle raised to his shoulder and sighting. A couple dozen men were moving towards the Horn building, weapons in hand, a few hundred meters in front of them.

"Shit, looks like the boys and girls of Wildcard are getting some more company," Anival said.

"Yeah, just us," Gates replied. "Let's take 'em out. Ambush 'em and keep them from joining up."

"I'm just dying to shoot something," Saph added.

Gates muttered something sarcastic under his breath; "Oh, really?"

"Well, we'd better get closer, then," Havock said, adding her vote to the attack. "Viad, give us some cover with your long-blaster. We'll move up and get on their case."

The Resistance fighter saluted with the rifle and went prone on a slight hill, flicking the rifle's bipod out to give him a greater sense of balance. The Stormtroopers started forwards, backs bent in a combat sprint, rifles ready but unfired, moving from depression to depression, trying to keep out of sight.

A militiaman turned and gaped at the Stormtroopers for a moment. Gates raised his rifle and said crisply; "Firing."

His blaster shot was a beauty, a running shot at twenty-eight meters that took the man in the upper chest and burned right through him in a millisecond. The other militiamen dove for cover but not before Viad, seeing the gunfire, picked off another with a well-placed head shot. The Stormtroopers dove for cover as well, rifles spraying to prevent the militia from rushing them or getting even a chance to regroup.

"Ah, battle," Gates said lightly. "Makes me feel alive."

As she came up close behind madman, she couldn't help but feel the heat, hear the screams and smell burning flesh. Were both of her guys injured or dead? She snuc a peek around the bend and saw trOy and Madman hunkered down just nehind the next corner.

"Anyone hurt?" she softly called in her comm.

"Yeah,  there's guys behind there that are ready with rocket launchers"

"Come back here and let me do a patch job on that stump of yours madman, TroY you help him get back here. I don't want you alone behind that corner, if you had  a little more battle experience i might've changed my mind-and that's final, Trooper " she hissed as she saw the young man begin to protest.

Staying as low as possible, Madman hobbled over and let her work on his leg. she administered some strong painkilers before tightly bandaging his leg, so much so that it stopped the bleeding which was what she had wanted. She also took the opportunity to give him a shot which would help with any infections.

Now they had a slight problem, Madman wasn't as mobile. he sure as hell wasn't dead weight, they could still use him but he'd have to stay backa bit and take on a lesser role.

"When we reach Tadath we'll be sure to have you checked for any infection that may have passed by my inspection, we'll see what they can do for a good prosthetic as well."

Helping him up, she supported him and passed him a Frag. "When we get close enough, whip it to the other sideand let's hope for the best. If we take even one out then taht's good progress we'll be making. TrOy, get back there with teh rets of the guys, we go in, we go in all at once meaning no one takes advances over others. This isn't a  race or competition after all"

When everyone was ready, she and Madman slowly advanced; Madman readied  his throwing arm, Lucky mentally stilled herself, prepared for what was to come in just about a minutr.

And then suddenly two pairs of hands yanked the three troopers back. Jae and Aeos glared at Mad, Lucky and Troy angrily.
“Are you crazy?” Aeos hissed to them softly.

The three Hories gulped at the furious faces of the Raiders. They could have compromised a lot of things had they continued to barge in without any prior agreement of backup from Raiders.  They had charged without any thinking setting off a booby trap in the process while revealing their location stupidly and getting injured. Aeos clenched her fists.

She sighed and kneeled down, leaning on her rifle while thinking a schematic which ensured all their arsses in good quality at the end of this little adventure.  A very slim chance if you counted the combination of Jae and Havock into the equation.

“Okay here is what we will do. Jae. You and Madmen will stay at the back and cover us. You both are headstrong and have a tendency to rush and I can’t have two troopers to rush into a building which looks like its boobied.  Lucky, you should have some of your CE items with you if I’m correct. We’re gonna need it. I only brought half-my kit. Rightio guys. Lucky and I will be in the front trying to detect the boobies. The rest of you will need to cover us while Madmen and Jae will cover your backs.”  Aeos ordered bring herself upright again.

“I suggest we use the stairs. Who knows what they would have done to the elevators.” Jae suggested.

“Agreed Jae”  Aeos muttered while detaching some of the small little jammers and detectors she had clipped to her utility belt earlier. Next to her, Lucky was doing the same.

“Okay Lucky. I cant garuntee that our detectors or jammers will work at one-hundred. The mines at the back were foreign design. I couldn’t even jam them. So I’d say its going to be same for the booby technology.” Aeos warned.

The Horsies and Raiders rearranged themselves into the sequence Aeos had ordered. Lucky and Aeos at the front with Madman and Jae at and the rest in the middle covering a three-sixty radius with their scopes and targets.

“Chances are also that we won’t have to undo the boobies. The guys had to plant them while allowing themselves maneuverability. We just need to know what the trigger is and avoid that.” Lucky muttered to Aeos while keeping her eye on the front as they started easing forward again.

“That makes sense. If the path splits up. Horsies go left, Raiders right. Agreed?”

Lucky nodded with a frown concentrated on her face. Working now as a team will hopefully increase their chance of survival in this building.

A favour to the Horsies please. If you're posting please include us Raiders in your posts. We've been paired together, so lets try and make that work?

Zeshaun was extremely happy to finally be able to go into the building. They were still paired up with Blackjack and personally, he was very glad about that. Being with an elite squad made him feel a bit more secure, even though he knew deep down that his squad was more than capable of working on their own. The Wraiths brought up the rear, covering Blackjack as they entered the building. Both squads had been warned about the guards that were still inside the building and the booby traps that would make navigating the simplest of halls more difficult than it was necessary. Getting to the top floor would not be particularly easy. Zeshaun lead the ways as the Wraiths finally entered the building. The inside was a basic building, the walls were bare, and the lights illuminated the halls. Zeshaun had a feeling that the halls were usually bustling with activity but the lack of personnel gave the large hallways an eerie, empty feeling.

“We can cover more ground if we split up, if one of us finds a quick way up, be sure to send a map through the datapads.” Abalar said.

Zeshaun nodded. “We’ll go this way.” He pointed down a hall leading deeper into the building toward the left side.

“Okay, be careful, there are booby traps, so keep your mind open.” Abalar advised before leading his Blackjacks in the other direction.

Zeshaun lead the Wraiths slowly down the hall, when they reached the end of the hall, Zeshaun cautiously turned the corner, Zeshaun was becoming suspicious of the lack of guards that were in the building. He was warned of the guards that would be patrolling the building but he had not run into any. A soft click suddenly came from the back of the squad. Zeshaun turned in time to see Beta40 disappear from his sights.

“NO!!” Zeshaun yelled, he ran back and then stared in confusion when he saw the hole that he had fallen through. “What the hell?”

Before he knew what was happening, he was falling, and he saw that the rest of the Wraiths falling besides him. It seemed that the floor had just given out from underneath them. He landed hard on a rough surface. His breath was sucked out from his chest. He clutched his shoulder; he thought he had maybe dislocated it. He looked around and saw the rest of the Wraiths lying around him, all of them complaining about the fall. It seemed that he had suffered the worst injury, he grabbed his arm, gritted his teeth and pushed his shoulder back into place. A soft whimper left his mouth but after the initial pain, the shoulder seemed okay.

“Where are we?” Bacredi asked, brushing some of the gravel off of his armor.

“Looks like we fell into some kind of basement.” Jamasis said looking around the room.

Zeshaun quickly tried to make contact with Blackjack but all he got was static. It seemed that they had fallen far enough down that their communications system did not work, either that or they were intentionally being blocked. Zeshaun heard a sudden roaring noise, almost as if a vehicle was revving its engine.

“Duck!” Nightowl yelled.

Zeshaun crouched down and felt something pass over his head, and a shower of sparks covered his head and body. The other Wraiths opened fire, while Zeshaun rolled away and grabbed for his rifle. Their attacker was no match for a squad of stormtroopers and was down before he could do any damage. Zeshaun stared down at his hand, the barrel of his rifle had been torn off, leaving his rifle as useful as a piece of scrap metal. He threw his gun down in frustration and picked up the gun that he was attacked with. It was some sort of combination of a rifle and a chainsaw. The attachment was where a normal grenade launcher would have been.

Jamasis whistled in admiration. “That is one hell of a gun.”

Zeshaun took all the ammo that the guard was carrying and put it in his own belt. “Let’s get moving, we don’t want to be left behind.”

Zeshaun knew that these guards were not stupid, and where there was one of them there would be many more, and if they were all equipped like the last one, he did not want to be there when they showed up.

OOC:
Squads involved: Wraith
So Blackjack and Wraith has split for the time being. Wraiths were sent down into a trap, into some sort of basement area, looks nothing like the building above. Main objective at the moment is to find a way out of there.

Razor leapt forward with the rest of the two squads and jumped from piece of cover to piece of cover, firing his E-11 the whole time.

He leapt behind one piece of cover and sat there a minute to catch his breath when what seemed to be a bear in human clothing leapt over the scrap of metal and smashed his fist into Razor's faceplate.

Razor attempted to roll away but them man grabbed his head and pulled him back.

Razor's vision was slowly clearing and he reached out and kicked the man in the chest  and heard the satisfying rush of air as the mans breath left his lungs.  Raozr rolled to his feet after the man dropped him and had hardly enough time to brace before being slammed down by a flying tackle.

The man sat on Razor's chest and began pummeling him.

Razor punched the guard again and again but it was no use this bear of a man was overpowering him, his blows slowly loosening Razor's combat helmet.  His HUD flickered with anothe crushing blow and then blood spurted all over the front of Razor's armor as the combat knife of drxhel exploded through the guards chest.

"You alright?" asked Drexhel

Drexhel swayed dangerously on his feet and Razor shook him yelling "Shake it off and get firing!"

Razor released Drexhel as he rolled sideways and took cover behind another small barrier.

Frak, what am I doing here? I just got out of the academy

Razor lifted his rifle and fired over the barrier, its cold steel almost reassuring against his hands.  The blaster bucked as shots repeatedly flew toward their attackers.

Razor scored a hit and watched as his target fell smoking to the ground.  Abalar was shouting encouragement while hauling Drexhel behind one of the ramparts.

Then Razor's E-11 suddenly stopped firing.

"Frak!" he yelled casting the weapon aside.

Carefully he drew his rodian repulsor throwing razor and peeked out from behind the piece of steel that was his temporary shield.  Blaster fire filled the air around him but the picture he had snapped with his HUD camera told him all he needed to know.

There was still a good number of militia men standing on the other side of this hallway.  Wraith and Blackjack were in trouble and his training and close range weapons were all he had left.

His eyes locked with his temporary squad leader and he rolled foward and out at the same time as his training mate tripwire and one of the other recruits from wraith who he hadn't had time to meet.

Tripwire went down.  A blaster bolt punch a hole the size of a fist through his stomach just as Razor and the other recruit rolled amongst the militia men.

Razor unsheathed his vibroblade flicking it sideways and through the legs of the nearest militia man.  As he fell the other militia members had time to react to the surprise attack.  Razor quickly drew out his grapling gun while he viciously hacked at another militia man.

The other recruit was slicing away and took down three of the militia members before being bashed down with clubs and sliced by vibrodaggers.

Razor fired his grapling gun and dove foward as the coiling piston inside pulled him toward safety.  The guards fired but their shots went wide except for one that landed so close to Razor he actually felt the heat from it in his leg as he zoomed back into the small barrier he had started from.

"That was incredibly stupid." said Abalar

Razor knew that he was ok though and drexhel grinned up at him.

"Good job mate." He said.

Razor only hoped that the brief respite he had gained by spending two lives of good troopers would be enough to keep the small advantage the Wilcard Platoon members had gained in this fire fight.

RAIDERS moved along the right flank of the building. The atmosphere was eerie. Cubicles with empty desks and half drank cups of caf filled the large room on main floor. They had to assume the Horses were encountering a similar style office on the left side of the building. After the marble clad-way-over-the-top lobby it was almost refreshing to be in a semi-normal environment.

Jaenna stayed in the rear of the group after splitting off from Madman in the lobby. They had scanned that room and found a meager three booby traps left for them. These guys would have to do better.

A crash in the far corner of the room brought the entire team to a halt. Every eye slowly turned towards Grahim. "Itsa wasn't mesa!"

Aeos motioned with her rifle held at the ready to provide cover. Mike and Brightstar made their way over to the corner only to find nothing more than a collection of papers that once had a place on the desk were now spread out on the floor. "Clear," Bright responded before putting her weapon back in its holster.

Jae moved up next to Aeos. "I don't like it, something about this just isn't right."

"This building has the most screwed up design I've ever seen." Aeos was twisting the datapad in her hands looking at the schematic for the office building. "I mean the stairs should be here, but no they're over th-"

"Why aren't they in here yet!"

When Jaenna yelled everyone in the room stopped what they were doing to look at her, Aeos slowly lowered the frustrating datapad and looked at the other woman with a raised eyebrow. Jae didn't seem to notice, her eyes were glued on the door that was attached to the lobby that the RAIDERS had recently come through.

Bright stepped next to Jae and followed her gaze. "We need to keep moving, there's nothing in this room."

"Or at least there's not anymore, papers don't just fall by themselves." Karash noted cynically.

"Jae, there's some kind of room above us. Its not registered on the official schematics but its in the original plans."

She sighed, "grrr, fine." As she turned towards the stairs she pulled out her vibroblades, but quickly came to a halt when the building shook from a blast.

"That came from the other office, from where Iron Horse is."

Aeos swore and backpedaled towards the door. "Jae keep moving, I'll check on the horses." The younger woman's eyes got a defiant glint. "Shut up and move, no arguments." With that Ae disappeared into the lobby to find out what kind of trouble Iron Horse had managed to get themselves into.

"Wesa keep losing peoples. First Havvie, then Rogueboy, now Aeos." Grahim sounded sad when he spoke.

Jaenna growled and stomped towards the stairs. "Well you heard the Captain. Lets move guys."

======

There was blaster fire everywhere. Havock dove to the ground and rolled a few feet in the dirt and leaves before her shoulder came to rest on the black road that led from the city proper to the Horn building. The militia reinforcements had taken refuge in trees and a few of the taller shop buildings that lined the two lane road. Red bolts came showering down on the troopers and resistance group.

Apparently they also liked grenades, one blasted several meters from her location. Not good, time to get moving. Havock threw her blaster rifle in frustration as the energy cell ran out of power. "Fraking thing." She activated her comm to the Wildcard channel and quickly pulled out her twin DT-57 pistols and opened fire. "Guys we need to move in, we're not hitting the bastards."

"I second that." Saphira's voice came over the comm.

Gee what a surprise. Havock snickered.

Verkur slammed on the ground next to Havock making her jump. "Hello again, Boss."

"Hav, you do see those grenades they started throwing, right? We move in closer we are in range." That was Anival, and he was right. They would be threatened by the explosions that were already shaking the ground, but there wasn't much choice.

"We are at a stalemate, unless we want to sit here until our ammo runs out all together we need to move it."

Garryll did not sound happy when he chimed in. "I don't like it but she's right. Those buildings are only twenty meters or so down the main road. Thats where they are concentrated and tactically I wouldn't give up that advantage, I'd let our ammo run out too if I were them."

Viad broke through on the comm frequency. "My guys can cover you from the forest, that way you can at least make it to the buildings."

"Okay, lets head for the buildings then."

======

The hallway was bright, it almost seemed out of place given where they were. Aeos was right about the mystery room. The second floor hallway ended abruptly at what looked like a wall but turned out to be nothing more than a hidden door. Now what was left of the RAIDERS were slowly descending a displaced staircase to another hallway.

Jaenna and Mike were on point, each taking a side of the stairs, allowing their shoulders to scrape along the wall as they moved downward. Grahim and Karash were right behind them, with Brightstar bringing up the rear.

The scene at the bottom of those stairs caused both troopers on point to slowly lower their weapons.

A series of hallways made up the white walled detention block they stumbled across. They could make out a few junctions but what drew their attention was the wall with the giant hole blown in it. Jaenna ran over ignoring Karash yelling at her to stop. The other side of the debris proved to be a small cell. Her weapons were still drawn as she stepped over the pieces of drywall and white powder from the detonite that must have taken out the wall. She didn't realize that Karash was next to her until she almost tripped over him as he knelt down to examine something on the floor.

"Someone's injured. Credits on who would be stupid enough to stand next to a wall when its being blown up."

Jaenna just stood there, not saying a word staring at the blood covering the floor. Her fists did grip the vibroblades in her hands tighter.

"Jae!" Brightstar yelled seconds before blasterfire erupted in the hallway.

"Thesa door, itsa musta been alarmed."

They took cover using the cell and any crevice they could find, their only way out was through the angry militia men shooting at them now.

Lucky frowned as she tapped the datapad in her hand. The room was a mess and nothing was were it was suppose to be on the dang thing.  It was a rightful mess and it didn't help that they were being slowed down by one of their own.

"Does anyone see anything?" Lucky asked.

"Besides more dust and scattered papers? Negative."JellyBean reported from the back of the group. In his care, he and another trooper make shifted an stratcher and had MadMan laying proped up on it.

"I told you I don't need this." He grumbled.

Lucky rolled her eyes and ignored him. If there was a way to med him out of here, he would have been gone. However, that wasn't the case right now.

"You know. I wonder what Saph is going to say when she sees you have one leg?" Jelly replied. "How one of her toughest soldiers failed and now has to be carried like a small child."  Teasing him further. "Better luck next time."

Madman snarled and tried to stand. Forgetting he had only one leg as he rolled off the bed and hit his head. The blaster in his hand spraying off up into the air. Blaster bolts hitting the celing as the surrounding troopers ducked and went to defense pose.  Lucky  was already on them.

"Dang it. Will you two stop it. I don't care who started it. We have a job and as soon as we find our Squad Leader the sooner she can deal with you both!" Lucky snapped. Helping MadMan back up onto the make shift bed. "Now you need to stay here and keep the bacta patches on. We don't have too many and field medicine only goes so far. The wound is badly sewn and patched. Any major movment can re-open it and you can bled to death. You need serious medical treatment. If I have to I will take a leaf out of Saph's book and knock you out to keep you alive."

No one said a word. Lucky made a point and she was sick of dealing with them bickering. It was why she was making them work together to begin with. I think we need to just hurry and head back to the oth- Her thoughts were cut off when the building shook from a blast.

"That isn't good." Someone replied.

"Ya think?" Came a voice from the hall door. Heads turned up to see Aeos standing there for a moment. Her tail flickered for a moment as if she expected them to come up with an answer.

"Hey, don't look at us. We didn't blow anything up this time." JellyBean cracked.

"I can see that. Well, sense you haven't found anything either, we need to catch up with the rest of RAIDERS. Theres a room above this one. So let's go." Aeos  ordered.

------------

"Damn, you would think they would run out of those things by now." Saph replied over the channel.

Another 'naid went off and flew chukns of dirt around as everyone knew they would have to make a run for the buildings.  Nothing like  playing chicken while having grenades and anything else thrown at you.

"Alright, let's run for it." Havock replied. "Now!"

Saphira cursed and pushed forward. There was no second chance as she looked over to see the others all running.  From behind them there was a shower of cover fire as  the first grenade landed off to her right and forced her to jump.  It was a near hit as chunks of the ground sprayed out.

"Something about this still doesn't seem right." Saphira replied over the channel.

They were closer now as they started to shoot their own range of weapons.

"What do you mean?" Garryll's voice replied back. "We're nearly there."

"They could be using anything else. Grenades? They aren't shooting back at us. Only at the guys behind us.  I think they are leading us. Not directly trying to hit us.."  Saph replied. Of course she could be wrong as she took another shot and managed to hit someone as another explosion thundered behind her.  Panting, she and the others  caught up to each other and reached the first  building.

"Now, what were you saying?" Garryll questioned as he reached the door. It was there that Saphira saw it.

"No, Don't-"

Too late. The door opened and set loose a trap. A small spark set loose a signal to the building where IH and RAIDERS were at and readying it to be blown up in ten minutes. At the same time  The building next to them  exploded...

Craven paced in his office on the top floor of the Horn Telecom building. The sound of gun-fire just kept getting closer and explosions more frequently rocked the four-story building. The large man growled and punched his mug of ale off his desk, sending it clanking and spinning to the floor. Everything had gotten so far out of hand.

When the VE troops landed he knew that they had found the leak, but it could have been handled quietly. He sent his best men out there to meet with the squad leaders, to invite them to come to the office out of uniform so they could talk without alerting anyone who didn't need to know to the situation. After all, every man and woman had their price. Now he had every damn media asshole calling him and his face was all over the news. A platoon of angry stormtroopers shooting at your building can cause that effect.

It would have worked, he just knew it, if that two-timing idiot Gunner hadn't shown up and spooked his men. Like his father had said, 'once a blaster is fired you can never silence it'. Like good little soldiers they went to plan B, and took the SL's by force. He could have shot them all on sight when they rolled up with four unconscious stormtroopers in full armor right through the blasted parking lot. It's really true, you do get what you pay for.

Craven always had a knack for numbers, he had been an accountant in his younger years. Then he traveled the galaxy working for a pirate. He discovered quickly that pirates no longer buried their treasure in the dirt, instead they buried their wealth in accounts and under paperwork. It was a brilliant system, one that he utilized in his current situation.

All good things, must come to an end...that one was his mother. He never liked that woman.

An indicator light on his desk started to blink. "Great, what's gone wrong now?"

He had worked with an architect when they designed the building. He wanted the flexibility to conduct all of his business under one roof so he had special rooms and security features installed. Many of them were borderline ridiculous, but generally just the thought of them were enough to keep his clients in line. Now these troopers were setting them off, and his idiot militia men were using things not really knowing what they were. The whole mess was getting out of hand and just the mere thought of that got his blood boiling.

He stepped behind the large desk covered in an impressive collection of papers, datapads, and half-drank cups of caf from various days. He had to push a stack of flimsyplast aside just to read the screen that told him what had caused the light to blink.

"Oh no. no, no, no, no, NO! Dammit." He scrambled to thumb on his comm then took him three tries to force his fingers to type the right combination to get the man who was now in charge of the militia in the building. "Come on, dammit."

"Mister Craven?" A voice finally crackled through, Brinks was yelling over the blaster fire.

"Brinks you bleeding idiot, where are you?" Craven started to pace again, a sweaty hand ran through his long black hair.

"Second floor, we ran right into some idiots wearing red armor and they have us pinned down at the moment. I'm sure we can get by them sir." The words sounded confident but his voice betrayed him.

"Screw that, we have bigger issues Brinks. I need you to get up here to the fourth floor mainframe room." This was bad. Brinks was typically one of his employees who happened to be decent with a blaster, a slicer he used to maintain his computer systems.

The entire security system had one major flaw, the failsafe. It started as a neccessary precaution. If someone tried to hack the system, the system would shut down. At least that was how it was supposed to work. Instead of shutting down his system would arm every explosive in the structure, effectivly blowing up the building. Brinks had been working on fixing the problem but had not yet succeeded, and now they had twenty minutes to find a way to stop it or get out. Craven was not interested in losing his business, not today.

======

The red wire that ran from the top of the door along the frame ended up leading to a young woman in glasses who looked up and glared at the equally shocked stormtroopers. They all stared at each other for several minutes before a loud beep coming from her computer terminal cause her to curse loudly.

"Stupid jarheads." She began to type furiously on the keypad.

"Ma'am the city is in the middle of a fire fight, now if you come with us-" Garryll stepped in tentatively and kept his hands visible as a show of his non-violent intent towards the woman.

She didn't look up, she kept typing and started muttering. "Do you know what you did? No probably not. You just grab the biggest gun you can find and start shooting at things." She slammed the screen down and screamed. "Great now the whole damn building is going to blow up. Happy now!!"

"Wait, what??" Havock had been firing her pistols maintaining cover from the door. She quickly stood and walked over to the woman who had started to tap her foot in frustration.

"I have been waiting for the opportunity to hack into that bastards systems for years. You guys get here and I have my chance. Then you jarheads smash through every door you find. Except that door happened to knock out my cable and now has activated the idiots broken failsafe which arms all the security systems." She paused feeling every eye on her, and every eyebrow raised. She sighed expressively. "Which, long story short, means the building will blow up in...19 minutes now." With that she threw her hands in the air and plopped into her chair.

"So, fix it." Anival shrugged.

She used her foot to rock the chair from left to right and shook her head as she stared at the ceiling. "Really? No way? I would have never thought of that." She slammed the palms of her hands into the desk. "I can't fix it." She screamed at the stormtroopers then resumed her frustrated leg rocking. "Not remotely anyways. Maybe from inside the building, in the mainframe room. But thats a big maybe. And the clock is ticking. Tick, tock, tick, tock."

======

"Come on, Guys. The blasterfire is this way." Lucky ran ahead of the group as they rounded a corner on the second floor.

They came to a halt when they saw the door that should have been a wall was now wide open. "That....was not....there before." RK panted. He was carrying Madman in addition to his gear and they had been at a full run since they dealt with their issues on the first floor.

The noise of boots comming up the stairs put the squad on alert. Aeos and Jelly Bean dropped to one knee and aimed their rifles at the door that would soon open. The sounds of the boots slowed then came to a stop just as they reached the doors. "Look alive people," Lucky whispered.

The door shot open with the force of a boot kicking it. A pair of rifles flew through the door and came right at the Horses, then everyone stopped. "Hi there." Abalar holstered her weapon and looked around, her eyes lingered on Madman for a moment. "Whats your situation?"

"Looking for RAIDERS, and I think we found them." The blasterfire could still be heard down the hallway.

"Hostiles? Finally, lets go." Corvin threw his rifle on his shoulder and started for the door, but he didn't get too far. Drexhel tapped him on the shoulder and he turned to see Abalar shaking her head with eyes that screamed, if you do it i'll shoot you.

"Ha, nice try." Loran laughed from the other side of Corvin.

Razor looked annoyed with everything. "So are we doing something or what?"

Lucky cleared her throat. "Abalar and I will take point, the rest of you stay with us but not too close, I don't want to be ambushed while we are ambushing someone else."

===

"I swear if your necks not broken I'm breaking it Beta."

The younger trooper grumbled something that sounded like it ended with, "sorry." Zeshaun couldn't be sure and frankly didn't care, they fell through the floor which made them look like idiots.

Bacredi moaned about hurting his balls and then realized it was dark as hell. "Doesn't anyone have a blasted glow rod?"

The basement, as far as the Wraith troopers could tell, was one large rectangular room. It spanned the entire building and was full of boxes and file cabiniets. It also appeared to need a good cleaning.

"Hey whats that?" Jamasis pointed to something that could have been a turbolift on the other side of the room.

Zeshaun wiped the dust off his hands and squinted trying to see if it was a door or indeed a turbolift. "Let's go see, maybe its a way out of here."

P1dge0n walked right up to the thing, which thankfully did turn out to be a turbolift and pushed the retrieval button before the members of his squad could yell loud enough to get his attention. "What?"

Jamasis whacked the back of the rookie's helmet. "It could have been trapped."

"Oh...I didn't think of that."

"Obviously." Zesh and Bacredi answered at the same time.

The lift arrived and the door slid open as if there wasn't a war zone happening all around the device. It felt eerily out of place. Zeshaun shot the private a 'don't move' look and scanned the inside of the tube. To his surprise, everything looked...normal. The lift showed no signs at all of being tampered with, but there was one thing that struck him as odd. "This lift doesn't go anywhere."

"What?"

"I mean it must go somewhere,  but there are no floor controls, no control panel. All it has is a single unlabeled button."

Jamasis shifted his weight to his other foot. "Yea, I'm going to vote no on the turbolift."

Bacredi scoffed. "Hate to break it to ya, but this isn't exactly a democracy."

They had seen no other way out of the basement, short of piling unsteady boxes and climbing out of the hole in the ceiling. "Okay, lets go. No,  I don't want to hear it. There is no other way out of here."

No one made a sound as the doors slid shut and the turbolift rose to its destination, somewhere in the building.

=====

"Twelve contacts, dead ahead." Drexhel spoke calmly into his comm. Blackjack and Iron Horse made their way through the door and down the stairs  to where the militia was firing on RAIDERS. They had managed to get all the way into the secret area

Luckystar came up next to him and nodded. "Alright, lets show them how its done." They opened fire which immediately dropped three of the militia guards before they even knew what hit them. Half of the guards frantically jumped for cover and attempted to fire back at the new arrivals on the stairs. The numbers of the guards quickly decreased under the heavy fire of now three squads. Two guards jumped out from behind some crates. They had been firing on the cell that contained the RAIDERS but apparently decided to mix up the tactic. It unfortunately couldn't have come at a worse time, for them.

Razor was about to nail one of the guys in the head when he suddenly dropped from an impossible angle. Through the haze of blaster fire the squads could make out Wraith running out of what looked like a turbolift door on the other side of the hallway. Now with only three guards remaining the end of the fight came quickly.

"Together again, how romantic." Aeos muttered with a smirk.

"So we are all here then? What about our SL's?" Abalar looked around at the familiar and unfamiliar faces searching for an answer.

Zeshawn shrugged. "Don't know, we've been down a hole for the past half-hour." His eyes turned to glare at Beta.

"Well it looks like they are stuck outside, our guards may have called in the boys that were off duty."

Jaenna cursed loudly drawing everyone's attention. She was working on a terminal she found in the hallway trying to get any information she could while they had a moment. "We definitely have a problem."

"Why is that counting down? Counting down until what, Jaenna?" Karash spoke from the other side of the terminal, he did not look pleased to be in such a large group.

"According to this. It's counting down until the security system overloads, which...yea, its going to blow up the building. Great."

"Jae...that timer says seventeen minutes." Brightstar spoke slowly as she stared at the screen.

"Yep. Thats what it says."

Abalar, Luckystar and Zeshawn spoke at the same time. "What?!?"

====

"You heard me. Gather all of the resistance men you have and lets get into that office building. I'm not letting my squad blow up." Garryll yelled into the comm at Vlad.

Havock was ahead of them all, firing off shots at anything not in the resistance camo or stormtrooper uniforms. They trotted up to the entrance of the office building and poured into the lobby.

"I can't believe you dragged me along. Hey, be careful with that equipment!" Krista, their civilian hacker who was possibly the only one that could shut down the ticking time bomb in the building, was with them. She may not have been very willing but the stormtrooper holding her equipment until she helped seemed to do the trick.

"Let's move, the mainframe is on the top floor. We'll head there and hope we run into everyone else along the way." Havock practically growled the words and didn't slow down a beat as she walked.

======

"We need to get to the mainframe room, its on the top floor. I may be able to shut it down, but it has to be there." Jaenna punched the wall next to the terminal in frustration.

"Sounds good to me." Lucky nodded.

"Can we please use the stairs." Jamasis whined.

======

Craven stood over Brinks in the mainframe room, the remainder of the guards had been regrouped there as well. He didn't know exactly where the VE troops were but he figured they would be heading for this room soon enough. Brinks worked at the terminal furiously trying to get the failsafe shut down so they didn't blow up. The men with the guns started to pile up any non-essential equipment they could find to use as barricades.

Craven glanced at the door and his eye locked for a moment. "Good thing I like the smell of blaster fire."

"How much time do we have?" Gates asked, reloading his rifle. Havock was trading fire with a group of militia crowded across a hallway.

"Sixteen minutes and thirty-eight seconds," Krista said, checking her chrono. Gates had his HUD display the numbers, descending, in the bottom corner of his sight. "And be careful with my gear!"

Corporal Verkur shrugged lightly, and made to look as if he was being more cautious. Gates slid over next to Havock and popped a few blasts off with his A-280. "How many left?"

"Three," she replied crisply. "C'mon, we can take 'em."

"You seem to be mistaking me for my trooper, Corporal Corvin," Gates grinned, kneeling and letting loose a long, full-auto burst that sent burned marble shrapnel into the air. The three men opposing them huddled in fear behind their cover. "I'm all for going down in a heroic blaze of glory, but a kamikaze charge just ain't my style."

"Won't be necessary," Vlad said, crouching on Havock's far side. "I've got some of my boys with long blasters out there. They'll get us out of this jam, sure as sure."

The militiamen outside were trading fire and grenades with some force. Vlad and grinned knowingly. Suddenly, a window behind the three militiamen exploded into tiny glass shrapnel as a long-blaster somewhere outside boomed - once, twice, three times. The hapless Horn guards died, smoke rising from massive carbon burns in their backs, heads and necks.

"Move it up!" Havock barked, rising to her feet and swinging her arm forward, as if posing for a propaganda poster. Gates hustled forwards, the time in the corner of his HUD ticking down. He policed the dead guards' weapons, and whistled at the precision of the marksman. Assuming the man could see him through the shattered window, he gave the man the "okay" signal and then pumped his fist.

"Vlad, make sure you buy the sniper a round on me," Gates said.

"You can thank her yourself," the resistance man replied. "Once this clusterfuck of a company is ended."

Anival and Saphira advanced by bounds, taking turns covering one another, rifles raised. Vlad followed a few steps behind the cover trooper, sniper rifle raised to his shoulder. Verk and the civvie slicer followed him, and Havock and Gates took the rear position, weapons at the ready.

The clattering of boots behind them caused Gates and Havock to drop behind cover and raise their weapons. A dozen-odd men and women with thin, hard faces and puzzle-piece black-and-grey camo and a rag tag collection of weapons came into view. "Hold fire!" Vlad barked.

Gates didn't fire - yet - but did keep the A-280's scope to his visor and finger in the trigger guard. In fact, he flicked the fire selection switch from "single" to "auto" (but as one of his old comrades had crudely defaced the rifle, scraping the "auto" off and replacing it with "OMFG").

"What's with the armed greeting, Vlad?" asked a stocky man at the head of the group. He was as tall as Gates but a good deal thicker, biceps bulging underneath the camo-shirt he wore. He carried a large support weapon in two meaty fists, a thick feed of rounds dipping from the weapon.

"Stand down, these are friendlies!" Vlad said. "Garryll, Havock, please."

Gates wished he could raise a skeptical eyebrow, but it'd be pointless in a helmet. He settled for a relaxed shrug of his shoulders as he rose from cover. Havock didn't seem to respond. The muscular man stepped forward, ramming his shoulder into Gates as he walked past. A group of equally pissed-off looking resistance members followed on his heels, preempting a response from the Stormtrooper.

"You got a problem with Stormtroopers?" Garryll asked softly.

"I got a problem with you, boy," the man replied. "No one points a gun at me."

"Then you're bound to be mighty disappointed with the whole "war" you're basically going to walk into," Gates responded.

"Back it off, Gonzalez," Vlad said. "The Empire's finest have come to help us out, and the clock is ticking."

Gonzalez spit at the floor between them, and walked on. The trio that followed his were right on his heels, still, throwing dirty looks over their shoulders. The other resistance members were more hopeful-looking, grinning shyly at the armor-clad Stormtroopers. Vlad nodded with genuine warmth at the rear-most group.

"We'll take point," Gonzalez snarled from forwards, he and his cronies shoving the other two SLs out of the way. Saphira pointed her rifle at his face, close enough for the large man to kiss the barrel, almost-invisible strands of smoke rising from it, from its recent discharges.

"Let the scumbag take point, Saph," Havock said. "Sonuvabitch can trip the traps."

Anival wordlessly stepped out of the way. Saph lowered her rifle and moved out of the man's way.

Gonzalez and his group moved forwards at a trot, not bothering to cover one another the way the two Stormtroopers had. Wordlessly, the Stormtroopers followed him, and then the resistance members.

Inevitably, the reckless resistance men triggered a trap, a ridiculously simple tripwire. The explosion of a pair of frag grenades was enough to throw all four resistance troopers off their feet, bleeding and dead, dead meat heating the ground a dozen feet in front of the main party.

"How's about the Stormtroopers take point, from now on?" Gates asked. The slowly-spreading pool of crimson that was Gonzalez and his henchmen was a stark slap in the face for the citizen-soldiers. Vlad scowled at the loss of life, but nodded. The four SLs advanced again, checking carefully for traps, and found a staircase. Cautiously, they moved up, ever vigilant for traps or enemy contacts.

At the top of the stairs, a claymore rested, ugly and squat, pointed down at them. Gates cursed when he saw it. "Can't go around; time is running out."

"Just shoot it," Anival suggested. "Don't mess with doing something fancy."

They lacked a better idea, so that's what they did. They crouched mostly behind the curve of the stairs and took pot-shots at the explosive device until it was fused together by the laser bolts and fell over. Gates approached it cautiously, hoping to kick it out of the way. He got within three meters when it exploded, the shrapnel it would expel half-melted in a vertical arc.

"Holy shit!" he yelled and dove halfway down the stairs. "Uh, it's cleared. We can move forwards now."

"Wait, can you hear that?" asked one of the resistance soldiers, hand cupped around her ear.

"I can't hear shit, sister," Gates said. "An unfortunate side effect of explosives."

"No - gunfire."

"Our squads," Havock breathed. "Sound like they're a few rooms over."

Razor was getting tired of everyone standing around bullshitting each other so he broke in and said, "So are we doing something or what?"

Lucky cleared her throat. "Abalar and I will take point, the rest of you stay with us but not too close, I don't want to be ambushed while we are ambushing someone else."

They emerged into the room where the firefight was going on and immediately they blasted away three guards.

"WOOO. Eat it taint lickers." yelled Razor.

He rolled behind a pile of crates and let his E-11 cool off before he started shooting again.

Razor fired again and again just missing the guards aiming at him as the blaster bolts wizzed around him.  He popped around the other side of the crates and took aim at one of the guards who was shooting at the pinned down Drexhel.

"I got you, you son of a..." Razor was cut short as a blaster bolt took him high in the chest.

Drexhel rolled into cover right behind Razor's prone form.  The hole in Razor's armor didn't look bad.  Drexhel assumed the excess charge from the blaster bolt had "short-circuited" Razor's nervous system.

"Damn.  All the doors are locked up tight." yelled Abalar.

Just then a small contingent of militia guards burst through the door and began wildly firing at the squads ammassed in the second floor room.

It didn't take long for all five of the guards to be put down by the well placed shots of the trained troopers.

The sudden silence after the firefight was eerie and it took a moment for most troopers to realize it was over.

Lucky jumped up and said, "Lets move out!" and led the charge into the open stairwell from which the most recent group of guards had finally come.

Drexhel grabbed Razor by the waist and threw him over his shoulder as he followed the now slow moving procession cautiously goin up the stairs.

A few bold members of the guard militia attempted to stop the large group moving up the stairs but other than that they avoided the single tripwire and arrived in what appeared to be a medium sized computer bank on the third floor.

Abalar walked over to drexhel and asked, "What happened to this idiot?"

"Probably just fell asleep when it got a little boring down there." casually replied Drexhel his sly grin hidden under his Helmet.

"Right well lets wake him up." Abalar ordered.

Drexhel dropped Razor on the floor like he was a sack of potatoes and quickly turned him over.  The suit could shock him slightly and that would probably be enough to wake him up.

Drexhel activated the shock battery and Razor sat p with a jolt and started rubbing the spot where the bullet had hit him.

"Welcome back to the party." said Drexhel.

Lucky ordered them to prepare to move out.

Razor swore to himself that he would serce those bastjaks a mean plate of blaster when he next faced the guard militia.

All squads and SLs are on the same floor now.  We do not yet know where you SLs are but you probably heard the stop of the gunfight and are curious as to whats goin on.

The last flight of stairs was always the longest. It was physically impossible but it felt as though the very steps became longer and harder to climb. They reached the top only to run smack into over a dozen rifle muzzles in their faces. The resistance men growled and raised their weapons. Havock yelled, "Hey, hey. Stop!" She ran the final few steps placing herself between the two stressed out and tired groups. She tore off her helmet and looked from one side to the other. "It's us dammit. It's us."

"A little jumpy aren't we boys." Garryll leaned against the side of the stairway.

"Good grief, what happend to you this time?" Karash pushed his way to the front to grab Havock's arm and pull her into the hallway. He shook his head as he rummaged through his medpack. She has almost forgot how awful she must have looked after being beaten, blown up, and then shot at for several hours.

Anival pushed his way up the stairs. "Guys we need to get up to the main-"

"Mainframe room, we know thats where we were heading." Zeshaun nodded.

"Well the longer we wait the more time they have to get ready for us." Jaenna spoke quietly her eyes watching the medic patch up her squad leader who kept swatting at him and trying to get back with the group.

Aeos eyed Jaenna and glanced over at Havock. "Right. Well it looks like you guys brought us some new friends."

"Let me go you brute!" Gunner yanked free of Corvin's grasp and ran up to Vlad, the two men grasped each other's forearms and exchanged some words mostly checking to make sure they were both alright.

Razor was still not quite steady on his feet he started to talk then needed to grab Abalar's shoulder to stay standing. "So are we done being happy to see each other yet? Can we finish what we started here?"

"That guy's the medic right?" Verkur was scratching his head as he came to stand next to Jaenna. She slowly turned towards him and took off her helmet to look him up and down with her own eyes, that were steel blue. "Who, in the hell, are you?"

"Corporal Verkur, and I'm in RAIDERS." He tapped the RAIDERS emblem on the shoulder of her uniform as he said the squad name. She didn't even flinch, Jaenna just stared at the man and he could swear her eyes got even more blue.

"Corporal, you touch me again, and you'll be losing a finger."

Brightstar walked up to the darkhaired woman before he killed their newest squad member. "Be nice Jaenna." The other squads were getting together and moving towards the staircase that would take them all to the fourth floor which would probably be the longest firefight they had been in up until this point.

Garryll had Blackjack take point followed closely by Iron Horse, although Garryll and Saphira were arguing over who got to be point and it looked like Saph may have been winning. RAIDERS seemed content to take up the rear with Wraith and the resistance fighters in the middle. The squads took their positions and moved out.

Jaenna turned to Brightstar and glanced back at Verkur. "Move out, lets make sure their backs stay militia free. I'm going to check on the klutz."

Verkur looked oddly at the comtech but shrugged and followed orders, Brightstar rolled her eyes and did the same. Havock smirked as she watched Jae's eyes turn from totally blue to almost green. "Hey Jae, so I'm sorry about that whole getting lost thing. I just had to get a pedicure."

"You are the reason I required mental assistance, you know that right?" Karash slapped a bacta patch on the gash on Havock's head making her wince at the pressure of his hand.

"Ow, geeze Kar." She flashed him a big smile. "You know you missed me. I bet this whole mission was just plain dull without me."

"Pfft, she's all yours. I wash my hands of her." With that the medic slammed his medpack back together and went to follow the others.

Jaenna grabbed his arm but her eyes never left Havock's. "Her injuries. Any injuries to her ribs, or arms, or abdomen in general?"

He lifted his eyebrow. "No, just her hard head. Which if you ask me is a miracle, given her record." Her hand slipped down and she nodded.

Havock shrugged and started to walk towards the rest of the now very large group that was wildcard platoon. Suddenly, a strong cybernetic hand pushed her shoulder and slammed her into the wall. Before Havock could say anything Jaenna kissed her soundly and then slammed her shoulders into the wall. "Ayme, I'm going to kick your ass if you do that again." She wagged a finger in the SL's face. "No more kidnappings, understand?"

"Yes ma'am. I hear ya, but if this is my punishment, I think you may need to rethink..."

"Oh shut up, lets go."

"How long is this going to take Brinks? The timer is almost to ten minutes."

"With all due respect sir, I can read the timer." Brinks kept on working at the keyboard, he was focused and tried to tune out the sounds of blasterfire nearing their position.

"Do you hear...nevermind. You!" One of the militia men pointed at his chest and trotted over. "Half your men to the staircase now, I don't want them to make it to this room."

"Yes sir." He rounded up the men and they filed out towards the top of the staircase.

"That'll hold them."

Brinks scoffed and spoke under his breath. "Yea for a few minutes."

OOC:
We are all together pretty much nothing but fighting until we reach the mainframe. Shouldn't take us long, I think we are more than capable of kicking these fools asses.

Razor was seriously in the shit now.  He had not fully recovered from his wound and believed that he was becoming a serious liability for his squad.  Even talking made him light headed.

They formed up and Razor took his customary position at the six of the squad.  He would have been happy to see Blackjack taking point anytime but right now.

They marched up the stairs and as they rounded the corner onto the final flight before the fourth floor you could actually feel the tension ratchet up about twelve hundred notches as everyone prepared for what would be one of the hardest slugfests of this whole battle.

Razor checked his three then his nine.  He was beginning to feel better.  Maybe he could knock a few heads in this battle himself.

They came to a large double door made of ornate glass.  They were on a wide landing and could see movement through the door.  The whole platoon was now standing on the landing.

The Squad leaders ordered their troops into two wings on either side of the door.  If the doors had been opened you wouldn't have seen Iron Horse, Blackjack, Wraith or the militia men standing on the sides.

Havock had ordered her troops into the middle of the landing and they stood in frint  of the stairs.  Havock jogged forward and opened the doors then tore ass back into formation with her squad.  As the doors parted Raiders saw the mass of guards and militia members in the room.

Most were hunkered down behind crates or ready to shoot the newcomer while a few in their rear ranks were just setting up their makeshift bunkers.

Raiders turned and sprinted back down a flight of stairs and waited on the third floor.

All of the sudden out of the room came a mass of what must have been fifty guards all charging straight for the stairs.

"Wait for it." growled Garryll, "Fire!" he exclaimed as he saw the group reach the top of the stairs.

Their blasters roared as the combined firepower of wildcard platoon and the militia men ripped the guards apart with blaster bolts. The few that weren't taken down in the first volley were shot as they turned and realized what was happening.

The Raider Squad charged up the stairs and led the assault on the large chamber that the militia and guards had set up.  Not only had their trick nearly halved the militia's fighting force it had also opened up the first few layers of barriers that the militia had created giving Wildcard a strong foothold to start with.

Razor dove behind an overturned crate as the blaster fire flew through the air.  This was already one helluva fight.

Militia men would occasionally charge forward swinging vibroblades only to be cut down moments later by the storm of blaster fire.

Razor thought they were doing ok until he watched members of the militia and wildcard takes bullets and get dragged back onto the landing by the stairs.

Razor rolled behind a different piece of cover and blindly fired over the top of his bunker.  He grabbed one of the frag grenades off his belt, prayed that this building was stable, yelled, "Duck!" and hurled the grenade the length of the room directly into a mass of militia men and women.

His vision went black from the effort he had exerted.  His wound was finally taking its toll on him and he knew he was in serious shit now.

They were ripped to shreds.  The other Heavy weapons specialists quickly followed suit blowing the frak out of a large chunk of the militia of guards.

Abalar quickly yelled through the coms, "Theres only ten left, up and at 'em Wildcard."

The whole platoon jumped up and charged forward.  Some drawing their vibroweapons as they went while others in the front ranks fired to keep the remaining guards pinned down.  Needless to say the platoon made short work of the remaining guards.

Abalar ducked under Razor's arm and pulled him up.  Slowly Razor's vision cleared.  The platoon advanced toward what they knew to be the set of doors that led into the mainframe room.

The door stood before them, like some sort of gateway to an ethereal realm. No one moved, breathed, or blinked, the culmination of all their time spent on planet, was centered on the sole existence ; Of the door, the room, and the occupants therein.

"Well, here we go." Murmured Saphira, her squad at her back, all of them brandishing scorch marks, two troopers stood out, Anival couldn't tell who they were although he was sure one was a female, and the second male and both human, their armor was less scorched, showing they were veterans.

"Well we won't get any younger." retorted Garryll his crimson armor pocketed with various chips, his squads armor was in worse shape than Iron horse, in two cases the troopers armor had shrapnel shards embedded into it. A mystery, or a testaments in whatever deities the trooper worshipped.

"Alright then, Wraith, Iron Horse, take both sides, Black Jack and Raiders will breach and take the front."

Raiders all nodded and took their position, Wraith followed suit, soon all of Wildcard was standing in-front of the man who had stolen money from the empire, blackmailed his way to the top, and had kidnapped the squad leaders.

"Well, well, now look at the cornered mynock."

A loud thud echoed from the back of the platoon, two men poured in heavily armed, only to be met by dozens of rifle muzzles pointed and trained on their heads, and various important appendages, the men threw their weapons on the floor and raised their hands. Garryll shot a man between the eyes, and a silent rifle took the life of the other men.

"eight minutes." stated the commtech that accompanied them, everyone seemed to snap to reality.

"Alright do your stuff." ordered Havock, training her rifle on Craven. He departed the console and allowed for the commtech to access its various functions, the minutes slowly dragged by, seeming to all like eternity.

Anival heard the squads mumbling goodbyes to each other, he was aware that six minutes had elapsed. Anival's helmet chrono counted fifteen seconds till the building exploded,  five, four, then two seconds, one, and nothing happened. Another four minutes passed then the commtech removed herself from the console.

"Well, thats that." she said, brushing a lcok of hair away from her glasses.

"I though we had ten fracking minutes?" asked Saphira, her mood forever angry.

"Oh yea, I disabled that like nine minutes ago, I just had to gather some stuff on this." she held up a holodisk and beamed.

Garryll reached over and snatched it from her hands, she handed it to some trooper clad in white towards the back, clearly not a Blackjack, and ordered the man to check it.

"Hey!" she protested.

The platoon ignored her and moved on to the two men, who had not said a thing since they had been kicked from the mainframe.

"You two, over here!"

The men did as they were told.

"On your knees."

They knelt.

"Wait!" screamed the commtech.

She ran towards the man who had taken her fathers company, and started to claw at the mans face, two troopers took her away, she writhed took out a pistol, and managed to shoot at the man, she missed.

Anival unholstered his pistol, and trained it on the mans head.

"Do it!" spat the man.

Anival holstered his weapon, took off his helmet, clipped it to his belt, and again unholstered the pistol.

Havock took her own weapon out, and with one clean swift motion, killed the other man. Anival looked at the mans eyes, there was something there, not fear, but something dark and malicious, this man was harboring an incredible hatred for them, if he was left alive, he could be a danger to the empire. Anival bent over, and whispered "for the empire" into the mans ear, and shot the man.

It was all over. Orders were shouted, there was still stuff to be checked, credits to be recovered, but the hard part was over.

==========Eight hours later=========

Kilid searched the empty buildings, besides a few weapons and credit chips, there was nothing of value, but maybe, through the next doors there was.

All he found was four bodies, to seemed to have been executed while the others seemed to have died while fighting, he didn't care. He was only here to scavenge what he could. The two fighters had valuable weapons, and the dead men had fine suits. He called his partners, who rushed in to start looting what they hadn't already. Kilid started taking the mans suit off, a soft rise, then a fall, rise, fall. The man was breathing. This man wasn't dead.

Kilid wondered what he should do. Then he smiled. This man probably knew were everything of value was. If they were to help him out, he would be indebted and grateful, so he would give them the money.

"Hey, fellas o'er here, this un, is alive."
