OOC:
Let's get some welcome posts in. I have an idea for a mission in mind but i need to see some participation to let me know it's worth going through with. Have at it, people

It was high noon and the sun was beating down on his face. It was an unusually hot day, and the lack of cloud cover made the heat radiate around him, up in small drafts from the asphalt cooking below his feet. His throat was beginning to dry up, and his scalp felt like it was on fire.

The first thing i'll do as squad leader is block out the sun...

The tan skin on his was stinging red by the time he arrived at his new office.

There wasn't much around but a desk and a very comfortable looking reclining chair, but Gio wasn't one to complain. All he needed was a bottle of good whiskey, a peasant beater, and a stress reliever and this place would feel like home.

But for now, he would have to settle for the whiskey.

"Hmmm," he said to himself, looking around the room and noticing things left behind by former squad leaders.

He set his bag down and unloaded his stringed instrument, a few ribbons, a portrait of his family, and a new bottle of Corellian whiskey along with a datapad containing the information of his new squad.

"As my first act as Squad Leader of Paladin squad," he said, reaching for a cup from his desk "I think i'll have myself a drink." He cracked open the seal on the bottle and let the aroma waft to his nostrils.

Pouring the liquid slowly into his cup, he admired the bouquet, before stopping himself and wondering what the hell he was doing delaying the ingestion of this rich, warm substance.

The holopad flashed, acknowledging the message he sent out to the remaining squad members. He wanted to know if they were alive, first and foremost. But secondly, he wanted them to come down and have a drink with their new squad leader. Call me unorthodox, he said to himself, But the family that drinks together, stays together.

He chuckled and then stopped and sighed. He was crazy.

"Ow, fucking..." Finch cursed as she banged her head on the sink, growling under her breath. "Ugh, of all the luck," She snarled, rubbing the forming lump. She looked at the bottle of shampoo in hand. Really wasn't worth it...

Fifteen minutes later, the petite corporal was emerging from the bathroom, hair and body freshly washed. A sigh of content escaped her lips as she rubbed her dripping hair with a towel. A soft beeping reached her ears: the datapad. Hopping onto her bed, she examined the message.

Obviously she was alive, but the second part of the message seemed a bit off. It wasn't that she hadn't had odd squad leaders before; first there was Jak, then there was Yillis, she seemed to have a streak going. In all her time, though, she had never really interacted with her squad leader on a friendly level. Perhaps that was just her nature, distant and quiet, but it was just a bit unsettling to her. Not to mention she didn't drink much, but that was beside the point.

"My god, this will be interesting," She mused to herself, shrugging on her sweat jacket over her white tank top and straightening her baggy combat pants. "Who knows, maybe this guy will stick around longer than the last two..."

A short while later, the small woman hesitated in front of the squad leader's office door. Finch licked her lips nervously, then knocked.

"Come in," A voice called back. She complied, striding into the room. Finch greeted the man, this Giovanni, with a scrutinizing gaze and stoic expression.

"Corporal Finch," She said, not quite sure how to greet him, "Reporting, I guess, sir." Better safe and polite than insubordinate and sorry.

Baretz Sonok had just settled in out of the training facility.  He was dressed down to casuals, and just lounging on his bed waiting for contact from his superiors.  His holopad emitted the obnoxious, high-pitched beep, and his right arm moved from beneath his resting head to the pockets of his black leather jacket.  His spine rolled his neck up, causing an awkward placement of his chin on his sharp collarbones.  He looked at the message and grinned sharply once reading it.  His pelvis twisted, and his legs followed, until they contorted under him his boots landing on the floor beneath him, and he stood up strolling through the barracks towards the meetings location.
He passed through the halls, having noted the layout on his arrival earlier this day, he now strolled from memory.  He walked normally, his arms swaying to and fro with each large stride.  The new leather boots on his feet groaned under his massive frame, and finally he came to the door his Squad Leader would dwell within.  He saw a woman's back, and the man sitting inside.  His right hand wrapped gently on the frame of the room, as he leaned to the left, to peer around the woman's form.

"Private First Class Baretz Sonok, reporting for duty, sir."

His voice was a medium range, and held some enthusiasm. By the sound of his voice it was a duty he could appreciate.

Lucky was polishing her armour when the datapad beeped . She looked at the message on the screen , and wondered why her Squad Leader wanted to see them.

She finished polishing the part of the armour she had been working on , put the GLEAN! bottle away wit the soft rag , put on her uniform , and headed out the door.

As she walked down to Gio's office, she saw officers looking at her in an odd way , as though she came from another solar system or something.

When she finally reached his office , she knocked on the door and silently opened it. She saw that Finch and Baretz were already there . She took her gaze of the PFC , and looked straight into her superior's eyes before saluting and saying.

"Senior Sergeant Luckystar reporting, sir!"

She held the salute for a few mpre seconds before he motioned to her to be at ease.

"At ease,"

Gio put his cup down and settled back in his chair. He kicked his feet onto the desk and shot a smile at the first trooper who had entered.

She was a short female around his age. He recognized her instantly as Ievit Olphert. He had seen her around the cantina on Tadath before but never exchanged more than a greeting with the woman.

"Thanks for responding on such a short notice," the man brought his feet back down and moved his chair up closer to the desk. "I realize it's a little early in the day, especially on a weekend."

The Corporal took one look at her new squad leader and simply shrugged.

"Um, alright then. Drink?"

She shook her head and stood there, having clearly lost interest in what the man had to say. Well, i'm not off to a great start...

At that moment a huge young man walked in and peered around Finch. He couldn't recognize him and he wasn't on his datapad list, but he was altogether pleased.

"Private First Class Baretz Sonok, reporting for duty, sir." He snapped a crisp salute typical of a new recruit.

Giovanni looked up from his mahogany desk at the towering specimen before him for a moment. "Welcome aboard, Private. It's certainly good to have you." Baretz brought his hand down from his forehead and let it settle at his side.

"Baretz, meet Corporal Finch," Finch looked over and nodded, then went back to looking around the room she had been in many times before with her previous squad leaders.

"And as i'm sure you've heard, my name's Giovanni. What do you drink?"

"Well, a nice whiskey on the rocks never hurt anyone, sir!" he barked back to him. Giovanni chuckled at his enthusiasm. It reminded him of his first days in the Dark Dragoon squad, many years ago.

"Please guys, take a seat." he walked around and moved the chairs a little closer to his desk to try and create some kind of closeness with his troopers. His previous leaders had done a great job of making him feel at home in his squad, and he had made friends with almost all of them. He wanted to emulate this style of leadership now that he had been given the chance to command his own squad.

At that moment, the last trooper on his list and his newly appointed Assistant Squad Leader (though she didn't know it at the time) knocked and peeked by the side of the door.

Her and Gio exchanged salutes and he motioned for her to come sit down. She wasn't much of a drinker. He had read her file.

"Well now that I have you all here, let me introduce myself again. My name is Giovanni and i have been put in charge of Paladin squad. I've brought you all together here not to get drunk with me, but to explain your next mission." He stopped for a moment to let it sink in and saw that Baretz' eyes opened wide in some moment of joy.

"And also to announce Senior Sergeant Luckystar as my assistant squad leader." He shot a smile to Lucky who looked around in disbelief for a brief moment.

"Alright guys, let's get down to business." He downed the rest of his whiskey and put the cup down on his desk where the moisture was creating a faint white blue ring on the unlacquered wood. He made a mental note to take care of that and continued with his pseudo speech.

"As you may know, Paladin squad's specialty is mechanized infantry but i aim to change that before our next campaign. So...," he concluded "You will all be trying out our next specialty and putting the equipment through its rounds for me. If at any point you decide this is a bad idea, we'll drop it and go back to our old specialty."

Curiosity struck the three troopers, but only Baretz decided to raise his hand and ask "What exactly is our specialty going to be, sir?"

"You'll see" was the cryptic answer Giovanni had for them. "You'll all see." He sat back in his chair and cackled for a while, much to the chagrin of Lucky and Finch. Baretz was probably as excited as he was.

"Meet me bright and early tomorrow in Hangar bay 1141. 0600 hours. Dismissed!"

That was all the conformation she needed. As her squad leader cackled at some joke that was unknown to her, she came to the conclusion that he was as thoroughly insane as her previous SLs, if not more. Her expression changed to that of utter confusion and slight apprehension. Dear god, they had a nut job leading them!

Bright and early at 0600 hours, he wanted them to be in the hangar bay. That she could handle. He gave them no indication of what they would be doing, if they needed anything, not even a hint of how to dress. As Finch exited the room, she chewed on her lip in thought. What to do?

“Lucky,” She called softly to the other woman, who was walking ahead of her, “Does this guys seem a little… off to you?”

Lucky looked at her sheepishly, shrugging, “It would be fair to say he’s a… tad eccentric…”

Finch felt relieved that she wasn’t the only one thinking so. She patted the other woman on the shoulder, “Congrats on getting ASL. You deserve it.” She smiled, a rare thing for the female Corporal. Lucky returned the smile before the two of them parted ways.

Once back to her room, Finch began to sift through all her various supplies, working out in her head what would be good to take the next day. She decided on her knives, which she tucked into her boots every time she left the compound. She wanted so very much to take a gun along, but she wasn’t sure if it would be needed or not. It would either be useful or dead weight. She ran a frustrated hand through her hair. Yeah, like she would actually /ask/ someone; that’d be that /logical/ thing to do.

With a snort of frustration, she picked up her Deathwind Sniper Rifle, a gift from Yillis and the most expensive gun she owned. She was a simple girl who didn’t need much; her DeathHammer Blaster Pistol was more than enough of a gun for her. Nevertheless, she babied her Deathwind, cleaning it almost every night if her schedule permitted. It was relaxing. Sitting down on her bed, she set the gun to one side and pulled out her cleaning supplies before setting to work.

Finch was always the person who stressed over simple things. The fact that she hadn’t been given much information on this… could she even call it a mission yet? Either way, it made her uptight and stressed. Taking time to slow down helped, but she still needed to burn off some energy. After every single weapon in her possession and her armor had been polished and cleaned, she donned some workout clothes and went for a quick run before heading to the gym. After her workout came food, then a shower before settling into bed to study her medical books. She always got to bed early, even if the other troopers liked to come thundering down the hall at the wee hours of the day. Earplugs came in handy around there.

She was up bright and early, dressed and ready far before the time she needed to be at the hanger. She was always up by 0500 to work out, but she didn’t want to wear herself out before the unknown rendezvous. So, she dressed in her signature baggy brown cargo pants, and white long sleeved shirt. She slipped on her new brown leather-esque gloves and boots, putting her knives into her boots, and made her way out of her room to wander the halls until it was time to join up with her squad.

As the last of the troopers exited his office, Giovanni breathed a sigh of relief.

That was a lot harder than i thought...He thought to himself.

In his attempt to impress his squad and instill some sense of loyalty into them, he had effectively made himself look like a total cheeseball. The drinks he was having were of no help to him either.

They'd forget all about it tomorrow, however. After all, he had a few surprises in store for them. He planned to bring some changes to Paladin, and hopefully, cement their place as one of the top squadrons in the division.

He stopped daydreaming long enough to find his way back to his living quarters and changed his clothes into something a bit more casual and a lot less sweaty. The grumbling of his stomach sent a distinct message to his brain. He was hungry as hell.

He lifted up his mattress and pulled out some Imperial Credits, then laughed at himself for storing his credits under his mattress. He finished dressing up, strapped his boots and headed out to the cafeteria. With a little luck he might catch someone from Paladin and get to know them a little better. At least he'd get some food in his stomach.

He stopped thinking to himself in the first person narrative and walked out onto the hall and towards the dining hall.

Finch hummed softly, not noticing the virtual emptiness of the hall in these early hours of the day. She was used to it; waking early and walking around before most of the troopers were awake. This was honestly how she preferred to live.

She could hear boots echoing down the hall, but didn't think much of them. It wasn't often that she saw another soldier wandering these halls, but it wasn't unheard of. Maybe someone had just gotten back from a mission or something, and was just-

In mid thought Finch walked straight into the owner of the boots, rebounding off his chest and almost tumbling to the ground. She would have if the man hadn't caught her arm and kept her upright.

"Ah, thank you," She tilted her head back to see who it was, and was thoroughly surprised to find her Squad Leader standing in front of her. Her cheeks colored slightly, but she kept her cool nonetheless. "S-sorry about that sir," she stammered, stepping back a step and saluting.

"No need for formalities Corporal," he said, waving off her salute. "I'm sorry i crashed into you. My mind must have been elsewhere. Are you ok?" He forgot about his hunger for the time being and focused his attention on the young woman he had almost run over.

She saw the young woman attempting to get her bearings and straightening out her white, long-sleeve shirt. "Yeah, i'm fine." Her cheeks were rosy, whether from embarassment or something else, Gio couldn't tell.

"And don't call me sir. I'm not that old yet. Gio will do." he gave her a reassuring smile, trying his best to befriend her. He hardly knew anyone from Storm, but he was looking to change that.

"Uh yeah, sure." she responded, still in attention.

"Um, if you don't have anywhere to go right now, maybe you'd like to go get a bite to eat with me?" he raised an inquisitive eyebrow at Finch. He feared she might not take him up on this offer from a complete stranger, but he figured it was worth the shot.

He hated talking to superiors, but it was always best to take the skittery enthusiastic face than the dismal official face.  He knew how to read people, and Gio seemed like the type whom would appreciate such a shot of enthusiasim.  Baretz could be found back in the barracks with a Lung Buster between his lips, and his stomache heaving with crunches as he had nothign else to do, but chistle his body, and make it battle ready between his courses on weaponry.  His eyes clenched as he heaved up breathing little oxygen, carbon monoxide, and nicotine.  He was already very fit, but you could always be stronger.  He was the type to never be happy with anything until it reached godliness, and to him a god might of been one whom could create the universe in the blink of an eye, or destroy it with utter indifferance, as if existence it self only acted according to his will, and one day he might achieve that, and that was the only hope of pressing forward every day, in every aspect of his training.

Finch shook her head, "We were both at fault, si- Gio," She said the name carefully, as if she had never heard such a thing before. Her pronunciation caused her squad leader to crack a smile and her cheeks to redden a bit more. No one had called her by her given name, not since she had left Celdaru. Then again, Ievita-LaRue was a rather odd first name. So, what should she tell him to call her?

"You can call me Ievit, if you like," She said, her eyes curious, "Though no one does. And I think I would quite enjoy sharing a meal with you, if you think we have enough time."

Ievit...He said the name a few times in his head until it seemed familiar to him. It didn't roll off the tongue, but then again, neither did his own.

He was a bit surprised that she accepted to come and eat with him. His first impression was that of a fiery young woman who had no interest in getting to know her new squad leader. She seemed like someone who wouldn't open up to many people. He was glad she had at least taken him up on his invitation.

"Sure, we have time. And if not, I guess Baretz and Lucky will have to wait." He chuckled to himself. "After you," he motioned down the hall in the general direction of the dining hall and walked beside the young woman.

The awkward silence was killing him.

"So, what do you do in between missions besides run into people in hallways?" He asked her with a smile on his face.

She didn't seem to think it was that funny. Her cheeks reddened a bit again.

Stupid gio.He thought to himself. Mocking someone is not how you get them to like you.

It was almost completely dark outside at this point, and here and there you could notice the movement of people coming back home, or getting ready to go out for the night.

"Usually i exercise, or clean my equipment. That about does it." she responded. She looked over to him and her eyes met with his, but Gio looked away and cleared his throat.

"Here we are."

The smell of a dozen different kinds of food wafted out of the entrance and hit Giovanni flat in the face.

Baretz didn't have much to do in the base.  So, until Eleven Hundred he could just walk around.  He was bored, and seaking out whatever he could find to do, and he had already finished his morning work out routine, and if he did more it could be counterproductive.  He found himself at the rifle range practicing with the E-11 /M.  He was getting better and better at medium range with sniper rifles, he just needed to work on long range more.  So, in his free time at the base, he found himself firing bolt after bolt towards the targets towards the back of the shooting range.  He took aim at the time, and with the countless shots it got closer and closer to death that he wished upon it.

Her life was utterly simplistic, almost embarrasingly so. Just about all she did was work out, clean her equiptment, and read books, which even then were things like medical manuals. It wasn't often that she did much else.

As she walked into the cafeteria infront of Gio, she rolled the question around in her head. What did she like to do? Sociable, Ievit, you promised yourself. Think!

"Back home, when I was younger, I enjoyed playing music," She offered, "And running around outside with my friends and pets." It was the best she could come up with, as dull as it was. She picked up a tray and some silverware before making her way towards the food.

"What do you enjoying taking part in? Besides the consumption of alcohol..." A feeble attempt at a joke.

"Well, as good as alcohol is, it isn't exactly my life." He picked up a tray and some silverware as well. Passing the veritable trough of food that was the cafeteria, he settled on some kind of soup and a roll of bread.

"I like music, and every once in a while I'll work out. If I'm not feeling too lazy to get out of bed..." He forgot for a second he was a squad leader now. He didn't exactly want to tell people he was a lazy bum anymore.

Out of the corner of his eye, Gio spotted Lucky, who waved him and Ievit over to an empty table.

"Looks like Lucky beat us here..." said Ievit, as she began to walk over, tray and cup in hand.

Gio sat down across from Lucky and wasted no time. He made short work of his soup in only a few minutes. The man was hungry.

Lucky and Ievit were busy making small talk. From what he understood, the two joined the squad and the army at around the same time and had been friends ever since.

Giovanni looked down at his watch and saw that he had to get going.

"Sorry guys, but i have to make some preparations for tomorrow." He rose from the table hurriedly and picked up his tray.

"I'll be seeing you guys bright and early tomorrow morning. Don't forget!" Lucky and Ievit waved goodbye and Giovanni left the dining hall as quickly as he had come in.

He was almost late for the delivery of the new equipment.

He booked it to the hangar bay as fast as his feet would allow him.

OOC:
I'll try and not make this pot confusing. I've never seen so many posts on one of our stories in one week before Jak...

Lucky looked at Giovanni surprised that she had gotten the position.  She knew that some people thought she deserved it , she thought so too , but she hadn't told anyone really.

When gio told them that their squad Specialty would be changing , she wondered what it would be , and she hoped the experience would be a nice one. The last time the squad had changed Specialties , it had not gone that well.

She listened to hi talk in silence and thought about getting a drink afterwards. she didn't enjoy whiskey much , she liked rum , Moutaih , Scotch or just  a regular , cold beer.

When they were dismissed , she talked with Finch a  bit about the men...she didn't understand men much. Some were less complicated than others.

When they parted , she was still thinking about their short conversation that the two women had had. men...who understood them? she went to her quarters and made sure her equipment was in mint condition. She made sure the armour shined , and that the electronics all worked perfectly before walking out of the wing where the sleeping quarters were located and going to the mess hall.

She could smell the food from five meters away. it smelled spicey , nice. She walked in , took a plate , served herself and went to sit wit hher squad.

Her and Finch were having a nice conversation when Gio announced his departure. That's kind of a sudden departure...

She didn't think much of it , but kept glancing behind her , expecting him to come running in to announce something.

The meeting the night before had been uneventful. Upon arriving to the hangar bay, he greeted the shuttle pilot and proceeded to examine his wares. Everything seemed to be in working order, without so much as a scratch to the valuable equipment he had custom ordered, out of his own pocket. It would all be ready for the next day. Hopefully, the troopers would find it a pleasant surprise. At least, that’s what he had hoped.

He walked out of the hangar feeling pretty satisfied with himself and his squad. He had been a soldier for the empire for a little over three years, and in those three years he had done a lot. He had waged battle in many different planets, against all races and sentient beings, some of which he had never known about prior to placing them in his sights. He had climbed steadily up the ranks and made a name for himself.

Now, here he was, placed in command of his squad, and as assistant to the Commander of Storm platoon.

He couldn’t help but feel proud.

He had joined the Vast Empire simply to find a place to make a steady income and to find his place in the galaxy, as cliché as it sounded. He had managed to do considerably more, and he was only getting started.

Shortly upon arriving at his living quarters, sleep overtook him and he passed out on his bed. He set his alarm for 0530 and laid his uniform down on a chair next to the bed. He was anxious to see the squad’s reaction.

When Lucky finished her emal , she went down to her quarters to write a report about the mission she had just came back  from , wit hthe rest of Storm Platoon. It had been quite an interesting mission. They had brought back  a prisoner , who was  the man who had intended to launch the missiles .

A half hour later , when she had finished describing the events in detail , and sent it in to one of her superiors , she went to her library and too kout a book she had intended to read, but hadn't taken the time to start turning the pages yet.

As she started to read the crime novel , her mind went to her SL's odd behavior, and she started to wobder for the tenth time taht day , what their new Squad Specialty would be.

Unable to concentrate on the book any longer , she got up from her bed, grabbed a cup of coffe from the coffeemaker in the small kitchenette in which she used to make herself snacks, and drained it in one shot.

She gasped as the warm liquid burned her throat , but it was much cooler than it had been that morning when she had made it. She went to her computer and checked her messages until the caffeine wore off and she started to get sleepy. As her head hit the pillow, she just ahd time to wonder what tomorrow would bring.

At 0450; the crescent moon uplifted the dreadful waves of Tadath with its bountiful moonlight. Upon reaching the vicinity of Hangar bay 1141, Brock uttered the last words of his brother’s will, whom served a military service in the Galactic Empire.

The highest destiny of an individual is rather to serve than to rule.

Without hesitation, he slightly sobbed his tears before arriving at sector 1141. Brock took a steep step from the B-A7 Airspeeder, almost as if hesitating to meet the crew. He landed on the ground, and turned back and saluted the ship’s lieutenant. Brock kept his cool while strolling the quiet night, until a tempest was seen far east of the bay. He looked with perception at the nearby storm, and quickly sprinted towards the main entrance of the building, where all the squad members where held at.

Brock entered the building using the security code given to him to access the building. He silently walked through the dark hallways, when noticing his stomach growl in desperation. He quickly turned the flashlight from his utility belt, and traveled the narrowed building until he found a corridor; which led to his room located besides the others. He opened the door, and left his belonging’s from the training academy inside the equipment compartment, and silently headed back to the main entrance, in search of a place to feed his already growing impatiently hunger.

After 30 minutes before finding the cafeteria, Brock feasted on the many sorts of delights the cafeteria had to offer. The smell of Corellian whiskey was shortly noticed by Brock, as he began to walk towards the odor in pleasant delight. Grabbing an unopened bottle, and a glass; halve filled with grizzled ice, he headed towards what was the main room near the entrance, and gazed through the window. As the tempest continued to cause subversion in the bay, the tides grew intensively strong. Nevertheless when drink after drink passed, the storm was able to find another route and suddenly moved away from the area. With an overly tired look on his face, Brock dropped to his knees, and rested near the door, where he slumbered as daylight got bright and the time was about the light.

0430

He could see the red numbers glaring at him from across the room. The incessant, annoying beeping of the alarm brought him out of his heavy slumber and jostled him into consciousness.

He forgot for a second why he had set to wake himself up this early. He couldn’t understand it. He thought someone had played a cruel joke on him, to get him up at such an early, wretched time. He walked, half awake, into the refresher booth.

He came out, grabbed his keycard, put on the uniform he had laid on the chair by his bed, and walked out of the door. It had all become clear during his short stint in the refresher booth. He had to make sure to get there before everyone, load out all the equipment, make sure everything still worked, get the shuttle ready to roll. There was too much to do in too little time.

At last he arrived. The halls of the base were still dark. It was too early for the lights to be on.

He reached in his pocket for his keycard and tripped over something, or somebody by the entrance.

“What the hell?” Gio said aloud, fumbling for a light. He shone the light on a young man’s face. He had been waiting by the door. He recognized his face from a comnet message he had received the day before.

“Private Brock Vik. Good to see you. I see you beat me here.” he reached down and helped the man up, who was busy straightening his hair and uniform before snapping to a crisp salute.

“In a way I’m glad you got here before I did, I think I’m going to need your help.”

He slid the keycard in and opened the door to the hangar bay. The light was streaming through the opening on one end, washing the entire floor in soft shadows.

Giovanni pointed to the stack of matte black cases by the left wall of the bay and Brock hurried over to help him. Together, the two placed them in the middle of the room, and opened each of them.

The soft glow of the morning light shone with a peculiar glimmer off of the brand new E-11/M Marksman blaster rifles. Right below them we’re brand new DC-15s pistols, locked and ready for action.

Above both of them was the piece de resistance. Six different suits of Shock Trooper armor, all painted in black. Giovanni’s stood out, with a black spaulder on his left shoulder.

Giovanni looked down at his chronograph and waited patiently for the rest of the squad.

He checked the equipment list once again.

9x Secure-A3 Comlink, CHECK

9x DC-15s Blaster Pistol, CHECK
2x TI-47 Deathwind Slugthrower Sniper Rifle, CHECK
1x Prowler 1000 Droid, CHECK
9x Towels. CHECK.

He had the equipment that wouldn’t be used stowed away for any new recruits and sat down on a cargo crate near the new gear.

The Shuttle ride to his new assignment the day before was long, and after the academy, welcome.

When Kreic arrived at his new home,at least, for now, he took a shower. After which, he stored his off duty clothes, and his few personal belongings.

He took a few hours before going to bed to read up on thee squad. He wasn't the only New Member, A Private Brock Vik had also been assigned.

The next morning when Kreic alarm went off, he got up with a moan. He never was a morning person, but he enjoyed his job. So much so, he didn't mind waking up at ungodly times in the morning.

He put on his battle dress uniform. He hadn't been given his weapons or armor yet, so all he had were full dress, and duty uniforms. It would have to do.

He got the message to report to the hanger the night before, and so , like a good little soldier, he did. When he got there, he saw two men.

One wearing Gunnery Sergeant's pins, and the other wearing Private's pins. "Private Kreic Eldari Reporting as ordered, Sir."

When Lucky awoke the enxt morning  , she was anxious to learn what their new  Specialty would be.  when she got the message to walk down to the hangars , she was a bit anxious. Another mission so soon after their last one , but then again , this was the Army. They could send you on missions whenever they wished.

She took out a uniform , shined her medals and ribbons before proudly putting on the gleaming clothing. lucky was one to be proud about her profession , and she liked to show it sometimes too.

Once she was in the hallway that led to the hangars , she looked for the one in which gio would be in. she knew that the doors would be open , but she had her keycard just in case.

As she walked, she checked all the double-doors to see whcih ones were locked and which ones weren't. She didn't have to look for long though , when she rounded a corner, she saw taht one fo the hangars was open , and so she walked to that one.

She stopped and faced the inside of taht hangar , already there were Gio , lunaTick , and a PFC whose name was LeGiT according to the nametag pinned to his uniform.

She took a few more steps forwards and saw nine cases lying on the ground. She wondered what was in them.

"Good morning" Gio greeted her.

"Morning" she replied with a short nodd.

'We'll just wait 'till everyone gets here before i show you what's in the cases."

"Alright"

She went over to stand right next to him and face the entrance to the hangar.

Baretz woke up at his normal time of 0400 hours, and he went out for his morning jog, followed by his morning smoke, by 0500 he had jogged 0430 he had jogged three miles, went back to change into his uniform, and had three Lung Blasters.  He found himself walking inside the meeting at that time precisely, and he walked past Gio and Lucky, as well as the two newer recruits than himself.  He stood off to the side, not speaking a word.  He was the silent, brooding type, and they seemed to respect that for now, but his wild enthusiasms and drive might of shown through his dark hazel eyes, with flashes of glee or hatred at the sound of battle, it was hard to gauge his emotion with the cold omnipresent grin that adorned his lips, but maybe he was just crazier than the average handful of recruits in this place.  It was anyone's guess, really.

Alongside his squad leader, Brock placidly saluted his squad members with eminent respect. Out of sight, he was able to notice Lance Corporal Baretz walking about the hangar. Seeing on how he was hindered from the group, he went nearby his perimeter and saluted, as in trying to strengthen the bond between the two. Shortly after hindering his absence from the group, Brock returned to the group, and brought along Baretz. Upon meeting all together in the hangar, Giovanni pointed out the equipment he had bought for the troopers as remuneration for hard work. Beyond explicatory description, the trooper’s hasten to the equipment, each taking a glimpse and admiring the lust as the daylight brightened the newly polished guns and accouterment.

As they made their way on selecting each item from the list, Luckystar constantly checked the items off the list as soon as each trooper retrieved them. Upon signing the list, it was later sent in to the Imperial Center Store where the records where kept in the database.

Brock put aside his equipment in a small corner, and ensconce in the matte black cases on the nearby corner of the hangar where he covert from the rest of the group.  Adjacent to Brock’s location was assistant squad leader Luckystar, who noticed the trooper as he slumbered through the day.

She slowly walked towards the corner, and tapped the trooper twice on the shoulder, and as Brock’s eyes shrugged from the daylight, she uttered in forgiveness “Sorry, but you’re gonna be late for the daily briefing trooper”

“You’re right, can’t sleep on the job now”

Brock couldn’t help but to give a nuzzled grin to Luckystar as he made his way up his knees and walked towards the group.

Baretz brought a hand to his lip examining the equipment, and then he pointed to the second TI-47 Deathwind Slugthrower.  He whistled softly, and then turned his head towards his Squad Leader.

"That's mine, right?"

He remarked, half jokingly, half seriously.  He was a great shot, and he wagered given his ability to snipe, it'd not be too off basis to assume the second one would belong to him.  The rest of the stuff he was proud to have, but he did favor the slugthrower over the standard E-11 /M.  His tongue moved to wet his lips, as he looked up at the pondering squad leader for an answer.

lucky looked at the armor , and she sort of knew which one would be hers at the first sweep. the Shock Trooper Armor she would be using had a sort of slot for the insignia that told everyone else her ASL position in the squad.

She grabbed the case taht would be hers, the one that was like most of the cases taht were laid out in front of her. She presumed that Gio would want the Slugthrower , so she left the arms case to him.

She took her brand new DC-15 , E-11/M and comm and laid it in the case wit hher armor in their respective slots. She closed the case , locked the latches in place so that it wouldn't open up unexpectedly when she carried it to her quarters , and took out the inventory list.

The list  was made in such a way , so that there was a checkbox for each item. when everyone had taken their armor, four of the cases remained.

She looked in a corner of the hangar , at Gio discussing about one of the Slugthrowers with Gio. She knew that the young Lance Corporal was asking if one belonged to him.

She looekd around her , and could just glimpse a body lying in a corner in the shadows. It was the brand-new trooper taht had been added to the squad. PFC leGiT was taking a nap in the cover of his matte black case.

"Sorry , but you're gonna be late for the daily briefing , Trooper."

as he muttered that she was right , and taht he shouldn't be sleeping on the job , she helped him up  and took his case across the hangar and set it on the ground beside hers.

“Um, sir, I was just, uh…wondering if… maybe…I could…” Giovanni had never seen Baretz this nervous. He knew exactly what the Lance Corporal wanted to ask for, but he liked seeing him out of his element like this, so he played stupid.

“If you could carry my things over to my apartment for me? Sure, thanks for asking.” With that, he placed his case full of heavy armor plating, another smaller one with his weapons, and a small sack full of the rest of the things on the list. The COM links were necessary. The towels, maybe even more.

With the young up-and-coming Baretz behind him, lugging not only Giovanni’s equipment but his own as well, Gio walked over to pick up the only case left. The second Slugthrower was on the ground by itself. Apparently everyone else assumed it had been reserved for the squad leader. In all honesty, Giovanni didn’t care much for sniper rifles. A regular rifle outfitted with a decent iron sight provided him with all the range and stopping power he needed for the job.

He lifted up the case and hummed to himself. He would bring it along anyway. They would probably need it for their next mission.

-----

Baretz damn near dropped all the cases on the floor in front of Gio’s living quarters from exhaustion. He slowly picked his arm up and gave a sloppy salute, hyperventilating and slowly crouching down to pick up his half of the equipment.

“Hey” The SL called out the young man, now starting to walk away to his own quarters.

Giovanni tossed the case with the sniper rifle in it, causing him to drop the rest of his stuff on the ground.

“Take good care of it.”

He walked in and piled his things up on the far wall. There was one thing, however, that wasn’t at the hangar. By his orders, he had had it delivered to his room. Now, the large case came up to his waist. On top of it was a control device.

His Prowler 1000 droid had arrived. He would be invaluable for reconnaissance and unmanned infiltration. He would be their eyes and ears. He needed a name.

“I think I’ll call you… PAL-1.”

One day he'd not need to act shy and coy, and he could be his true conceited, self, but everyone seemed to think him the shy, enthusiastic type, and he did his best to play to their assumptions.  He held his new equipment, and the large smile on his face with the Slugthrower in hand made him grin.  He was going to put this thing to good use.  He got on his SCS-19 Sentinel Landspeeder, and unloaded his gear into it.  He drove the speeder towards his home near the base, and grinned gently.  He was happy with his new equipment, for now, and in time he'd aquire more.

Lucky took her things and started to head to her quarters. She was happy with her new equipment. She would take even better care of this armor, than she had her old one.  she would only use the old armor for the missions that weren't with the squad or platoon.

On the way to her quarters, she saw baretz huffing and puffing behind Gio , his arms full of heavy gear. She thought terrible that Gio made a new member carry his things for him , and wanted to help Baretz , but didn't dare do anything for fear of being reprimanded.

She only hoped that the Lance Corporal wouldn't be too sore or exhausted from all that heavy-lifting.

When she finally got to her quarters, she too kout her keycard , entered the correct security code, and the door swung inward to reveal her small "office".

It was mainly a desk with a computer, printer /fax and phone on the otehr end. she went to her bedroom , set her gear down , took out the old armor and put it in  a case for later and instead put the matte case in the place of honor.

She decided to go to the gym , either do some weight training or wrestle with some of the men and then have lunch.

With one last look around, she left he rliving quarters and walked to the small sports complex.

Brock departed the hangar with his equipment and headed over to his private quarters. Upon his arrival, he yawned the rest of the tiredness and laid down on his bed, dropping his entire body, letting the gravity do all the work.  For the most part, he needed some sleep before the mission started, however he couldn’t get too much of it because of the restriction in time. Not long before an hour passed, Brock woke up with a bit less tired look on his face, at least from the looks of it. Not letting his sleep take over him, he slapped himself abrasively as in trying to wake up any last thoughts. All together, he was quite awake afterwards, and started settling into his new room. Within minutes, Brock left his room to check out the rest of the facility.

As he pondered in deep thoughts through the knotty narrowed halls, while resting both his hands behind his neck, he bumped harshly into another person, and was knocked of his route.

“Ahhh-Ochh…. What was that?”

As he snapped out of the abrasive pain, he looked up and saw Luckystar who was sobbing her head on the floor along with him. As he went to help her lift up from the polished floor, she made an almost harangue speech.

“Can you see where you’re walking trooper?”

“Sorry for the bump, I wasn’t paying attention..” Brock smirked slightly, as he hindered his laugh in forgiveness.

As she enhanced her condition from the recoil, both troopers walked towards the Gym entrance, that was located a few steps away from their current position. Both constantly exchanged conversations in the process.

“Say, since we are not far away from the Gym, mind brawling in wrestling while we’re at it? That is if you’re not afraid of girls..” Lucky asked the young private who was still blushing at her offer.

“That’ll be fun, but first I gotta work out the kinks.. I haven’t worked out the bags in a while, so I figure it will get me warmed up. Tell you what, we’ll each warm up and then when ready we’ll brawl in a match.”

“Sounds good..” Lucky placidly said, while slicing her key into the security door. Within a matter of seconds, the door slid open, and revealed a variety of areas to access to from the main entrance. They both walked inwards and gazed at the informational panel. Not long before they looked at where the sports complex was, they began to follow the directions, leading them into a small area at the far left of the entrance.
