I'm having it tough. I always have, and it's becoming unbearable. People don't understand. And it's not fair for me and others like me.
People are constantly making fun of me at school. And today I accidentally bumped into a woman and she shouted at me "Why don't you watch where you're going!"
I hadn't brought my cane because I didn't know we would be stopping at the biggest mall in the city. I apologized, but she didn't want to hear it.
All I want is to be heard and understood. Is that so complicated? I'm not allowed to hit anyone or anything with the cane. So scratch those kinds of ideas from your minds. I just can't take it anymore. Any ideas guys? I'm open to suggestions.
If you can, can you guys google for a Convention for the Blind in Canada? Thanks. I'll also work oon that search. But I'm a loner in this battle. And it's not fair. 
(I'm pissed off right now so I apologize if I wrote stuff more than once.)

I'd like to comfort you in some way, but I know that's probably something I'll never be able to do.
People can't/don't appreciate what they don't understand. It's not right what they're doing and saying to you. Just know that you'll always have people here.

I agree with Cosmic regardless of whatever people may say, you are a human being and should be treated as such. Most of the people you will meet in life are ignorant, I would add some colourful language in describing them but then I would not be any better than them. I can't think of any way of getting back to them unless trying to appeal to their emotions but I dont think you want to give a heart to heart to every jackass. -----------------------

Actually, I wasn't going to ask that Rogueboy, I know there are computers with Braile, and computers that read what is on the screen. In fact, my mother taught a near deaf student this passing year that had a computer in her school modified with black background and large white print for him to use. And please don't act like I was being inconsiderate. I meant to ask if Lucky was completely blind or partially blind. I didn't have enough time to write all that however. I am not being inconsiderate, only curious.
And please...calling me a jackass because I didn't know she was blind is just as bad as yelling at a vision impaired for bumping into you.

Raigen in that case I apologize, I was under the impression you were the one acting like that lady in LS's story and so I bit when I should of barked. That also makes you wonder the woman obviously did not know the full story like I did with Raigen. Perhaps if she was told the story she would of apologized?
While Cosmic this may sound a little cold but I don't care what your opinion of me is this is not directed strictly to you but to everyone I meet in my life.
Lucky I just wanted to let you know that I care about your struggle and while I never had such difficulty getting along with my peers or a handicap that couldn't heal itself. Life will always throw you obstacles and just like obstacles we need to find our way around them.
Perhaps try hanging around a new group of friends? Telling the people who torment off or make them feel guilty call them a bunch of Nazis. Out of curiousity how old are the people in your school that bother you?

Hi,Lucky, you are really not alone in this struggle.
Somewhere a light will open up,and the weight upon your shoulders will lift. My brother and sister is both mentally handicapped,and sometimes I wonder how normal people fail to notice it. And when they do,shrug it off as a joke.
So while I may cannot completely understand you, I can say with empathy that you are not alone. You are stronger then you think you are, and that, you should pay attention to people like that woman in the world.
Lucky, I'm frustrated by the fact that I can only offer you comfort over an electronic connection, sit tight Lucky,be strong, it will get better. Trust me on that one.

It's allright Cos. Alot of people ask me that question. Yes Casca /Raigen I am visually impaired. I have 25% vision in my right eye (tunnel vision= no peripheral vision and blurred sight after a distance of four feet) and complete blindness in my left eye.
No, I do not have ZoomText or JAWS, even though I would love to have them. Right now I use a cheap Magnifier which distortions the stuff on the screen. Either that or my face is a few centimeters away from the screen, which hurts they eyes and doesn't help at all in the long run (the program costs 600$ if I were to buy it so i use the stuff that's already integrated in the computer)
If I had the money I would've bought it a long time ago. But obviously I don't.

I'm a little late on this party but just wanna add a few words for Lucky. I just feel strongly about this.
Hey babe, let me tell you those people are scum and if I had been by your side they would have gotten it good.
Let me tell you that you stronger and tougher than any of those people for going through what you go through.
Disabilities are God given but handicaps are mankind's invention. I'm sure you have the inner power to make the statement come true, and it's small steps like you being able to come into the VE and do something you enjoy despite what's holding you back that makes you a winner in my eyes.

Thanks Hashi. Have we met by any chance? My strength comes from all the surgeries i went through. Which aren't that many. I've on;y been hospitalised 250 times in the first four years of my life, traum,atized by certain things i saw there and have had seven surgeries. I have the scars to show.
I try to make the best out of my life.
Also it has come to my attention that people are interested in helping people like me. Which would be helping me in the end BTW.

The Institute is actually needing money. 29% of their funds come from the government . The rest comes from the people who are interested in helping others and the clients themselves.

Hey Lucky, the best information I can give you is to just ignore them. People who put others down are usually insecure about themselves, and enjoy seeing other people suffer.
My grandma is also blind, so I can kind of see what you're going through. And about the program, I'm pretty sure you would love it. She has it, and it helps her get through a lot.
She's a Doctor, and I always hear her using it and I hope you get enough money soon so that you can get one to.

Im really not one to give to charities, seeing as how I gave to the red cross once and they didn't do anything with it.
But, is there a chance that we might be able to help you out, just one on one? I mean, I'm sure we'd be able to get some money together and put it into a small savings online, some type of account to help you out and get you the program you need, seeing as how you are ever so graciously giving us your time as a person, and as a starwars fan.
I'm sure I can come up with money sometime soon to help the fund so that you will be able to communicate with us much easier and have more fun! because thats what this place is about!
And...about the entire thing with bumping into the other woman.
Some people take things for granted. Some people don't know how your feeling from day to day, and some people also make mistakes. I'm not saying that this lady had any right to say or do what she did to you, but I'm just telling you that there are thousands of others around the world with the same problems.
I really feel bad for you and what happened, and this is my solution. Make a fund to help you out since you give us so much of your attention that you really don't have to.
It nearly broke my heart to read what happened to you, and I seriously want to help you out...

I've been following this topic for some time now and I'd just like to offer my sympathies. There are people in this world who put themselves above other people, just ignore them. I myself have terrible hearing and my most frequently used word is "What?" Will probably have to get a hearing aid soon. People get angry and put the blame on you as though having the disability is your fault.
But it isn't. Just stick with your friends and family and you can pull through.

Jaden, the fund idea is a great one. Aeos and Rogueboy alos suggested it. I don't like to receive charity from people much.
But give some to the CNIB, as I probably said before 29% of they're funds is from the government. The rest is from the clients and the people who want to help the Institute.
I know for one that your money won't go to waste there, because the money is used wisely to help out their clients in getting tools to help them (white cane, Daisy books ,etc.)
My parents would feak if they found out that people, which I only know on the VE (complete strangers in RL life) are raising funds for me.

I dont know if they would completely freak, perhaps at first but they may become grateful for the help. I understand people have their pride but everyone needs a little help sometimes. I also understand people's concern about donations to an organizations, most of them are lying backstabbing little mother...nvm let's just say most money lines up people's pockets. Which is why I wanted to help you personally, I have trouble trusting organizations of more then one people because everyone blames each other should some money disappear. -----------------------

They saw the thread. I showed it to them late last night. They think it's cool that I have friends here. But they will not allow a funding project.
So basically it's : cool, you have friends on this site. But...we won't allow any kind of fundingf project. after all they are strangers. You don't really know them.
That's how it went, so I guess the best you guys can do is support me through the rough patches. I will get a disability pension soon anyway :P

From what I understand, the thing that people hate most is having people do stuff for them through "pity". Not saying that that's happening here, and I don't know if that's 100% true since I haven't gone through such an ordeal myself, but that's one of the largest "complaints" that I see. -----------------------

I would keep on pushing for the funding project no matter if they say no to you, but that's my opinion. I do hope you are successful in your efforts later on, the best way is to fight for what you want, that's how our world leaders, and people who can represent the public with the problem's see to what really needs attending too instead of "there own personal agenda", and I also want to wish you good luck luckystar and perhaps someday you might be that person that will represent the blind community and help them in there struggle.

Thanks alot Hunter. But now unfortunately I have another problem...my parents are being unfair to me and are very much lowering my sekf-esteem.
everytime I want to do something a quarter of my family says: "Go for it girl!" and the other three quarters say "You can't do it"
I want to be able to do something on my own that I will be proud of doing. Like...driving the Golf cart for the third timr or even tsking the bus alone. They make life so dull and complicated that I've actually started to exercice my mind to be able to practse short distance telepathy. -----------------------

You could learn something from Erik Weihenmayer. His wife taught at my high school for a while and he's a pretty impressive man, the first blind man to conquer Everest in fact. He has some books and movies out I think, so you should check them out. It's my belief that you can do what you want no matter your ailments. If people tell you you can't do something you shouldn't tell them what you're doing. When you accomplish it then you rub it into their faces. Fight fire with fire, people are selfish, the only way to get through with people for the most part is showing them that you can be and are stronger then they are. -----------------------

I've seen a show that was about him. They taped him going up Everest. And during the training he had to go through beofre that. They actually re-created his childhood.
I'm gonna try and do what I want , I'm ttrying to devise a plan so that all who want to discourage me find out too late.
It's not because I want to be mean, it's a little more to show that I have a rigt to do what I want.
And whatever I will be doing in the future will all be good. -----------------------

Go for it Lucky. You put most fully abled (I dont mean any offence by that, its just the best term I have. I do apolgoise if it offends you) people to shame. Most people are happy just to sit back and watch their life go by, your obviously not.
