(OOC: Alright, this is the briefing.  The next post will be all of the mission specs you will need to know:/OOC)

Captain Mikael Skysterov stood at the podium once more within the briefing room of the Imperial Star Destroyer Debilitator.  The pilots before him were all eager to get things going.  They had all been waiting nearly a month to get information on their fallen comrades that were captured during a large ambush at the last mission.  Families had been torn, brothers separated, and fathers sonless.

Mikael whipped the sweat dripping from his forehead.  Jaden noticed he was a bit more relaxed at this briefing.  Since the last incident, the both of them had a lot of meetings together and had occasionally talked about war stories.  They had gotten to know each other better and better each day, and now the day they were all waiting for had come.

The papers shuffled once more before Mikael cleared his throat and began.

"Pilots, families, and friends aboard this ship, you have all been called here for a reason.  Today, we have the opportunity to reclaim our taskforces previous members and also take revenge for the acts toward our force recently.  Since the mission, we have picked up many streams of information from intelligence operations telling us what exactly happened, and who was involved.

The New Republic forces set up a "CounterForce" in the area of our trade line through the Vectra System to Lotaith.  They hired a number of mercenaries from across the area and different pirate factions to take place in the attack.  So, to make this brief, we've tracked down every single on of the people at the last attack, and we've tracked down the counterforce, and they WILL be crushed," said the man, smashing his fist into the marble podium.  "I will not stand for anything less than total destruction of these foes."

He stood for a moment, scanning the crowd, reading the faces of the pilots before him for their reactions, though it mattered to him little.

"We've rebuilt our taskforce, with twice as much power as the last.  From Long range scans and scout missions, we've discovered the amount of firepower and number of craft the enemy have.  Our force WILL be enough, even more, to obliterate them in a sense most of you will never be able to imagine."

"Information has been sent to each of your datapads giving further instructions for the mission.  12 hours till we ship out.  Report to your Squadron Commanders and Flight Leaders accordingly, as they will have those instructions."

Captain Mikael Skysterov stood at the podium, staring at the crowd once more.

"We don't need luck for this mission, power is on our side.  That is all I have," he said

And with that, he saluted the pilots.  He was returned with salutes from every pilot of the crowd.  Within a few minutes, the room was empty and all of the pilots had returned to their barracks to get the information of the mission and to read up.

Jaden sat in his office, reviewing the datapad over and over, planning out the mission and running it through simulations to achieve the best strategy possible.  It was a tough job attempting to read the future and calculate all of the enemies moves in, along with the unknown number of enemy fighters and another enemy force that could be in the area.

After checking through everything more times than he could count over, Jaden reviewed the datapad once more.  Everything was now set for the mission, and pilots should have all had their information melted into their minds.

But, out of all things Jaden had been pondering, one thing stuck out the most.  They were immensely outnumbered, and all of the odds were against them.  For sure, they would loose a lot of pilots.  He had figured himself that with his amazing piloting skills and experience; even he might not be able to make it out of the battle alive.  There were no planets with the immediate area, so there would be no crash landings this time.  If the fighter got shot up, it was the end.

Jaden quickly wiped the thought from his mind for a moment, shuffled all of the paperwork into piles, and left the office for a good rest.  Within 16 hours he would be out in space again, battling the foes that were all too familiar to him.  The pilots under his command would be his responsibility, no matter the outcome of the battle.  It would be his decisions that would either end their lives or keep them.  A thought that was now engraved into his mind that wouldn't be just shoved away.

Leaving the briefing room, Hunter walked silently down the hall with the other Aegis pilots and the other squadrons who were going to be going on the mission. Everyone was talking animatedly about it. It's too loud. Hunter thought to himself, looking around for a place to escape the noisy mass of people until the briefing room had cleared out. Spotting a small room off to the side, he slipped inside without anyone noticing and closed the door behind him.

Once the door was shut behind him, everything grew pleasantly quiet. "Perfect," Hunter stated, walking over to a chair next to an active terminal and sat down. Looking around, he guessed he had entered one of the ship's lounge areas, though this one seemed like it would only fit a few people. I wonder how this mission is going to go. At least some of our Aegis pilots are more trained and ready. Spinning the chair around, Hunter faced the terminal and started skimming through random news and files. Eventually getting bored, he turned to leave but stopped as his eye caught site of a news file labeled "Vandate Given Leadership of Storm Platoon." Even though it was an old file and the topic was of army concern, Hunter let out a gasp of recognition to the name.

"It's just a coincidence. There's no way it could be. . ." Hunter leaned back in the chair, staring at the screen. Finally, curiosity taking the better of him, Hunter opened the file and skimmed the screen. After reading the whole thing, he quickly got up and left the room. Striding down the now empty hall, Hunter headed straight for his provided room on the ISD. A few people called out his name, but he ignored them. They could be dealt with later, or if it was important, they would catch up with him

When he stepped into his room, Hunter walked over to his bag and pulled out the briefcase he always had wherever he went. Undoing all the security systems, he flipped it open and pulled out his slicing equipment. Dropping into the chair in front of the terminal in his room, Hunter hooked up his equipment which would aid in the speed of his search and turned the machine on. Looking up the name Vandate, Hunter allowed the machine to pull up any records, new files, military logs, medical files, and any other form of information he could look through with his slicing skill. Oddly, there were more files on him then there were for this other person. Even with his abilities, Hunter couldn't find any information on this Kairo before he had joined the Imperial Army, and nothing in the files provided him with the information he needed and most desperately wanted.

Can it really be you? Why did I have to be going on a mission right now? I need proof. I need to find you. Noticing a message file off to the side of the terminal screen for the first time, Hunter pulled it up and found it was from Jaden. "Ah, we have our own little meeting in ten hours. Two hours before our departure. I guess I should read up on the mission." But over the next hour as he read through the mission details, Hunter's mind couldn't concentrate. That moment of luck in finding the file in the lounge had sent him down a path he had no choice but to follow. One quick mission and then I can go find him, but not until then. Get a grip of yourself Hunter. The lives of everyone in this mission can be changed by your actions. This is no time to get sidetracked.

Hunter pushed away from the terminal and walked over to his bed. Lying down, he looked at the time. Let's see, Jaden sent that message right after the meeting, so that was ten hours from then. It's been an hour already, so that leaves nine hours more. He set his alarm for seven hours and rolled over, trying to calm his racing mind down long enough to catch a bit of sleep where he hoped he could escape his thoughts.
______________________________________________________________________

Looking up as his mom kissed him goodnight, Ridley watched as she moved over to another bed across the room. As she knelt down to say good night to whoever laid in that bed, Ridley looked up at the ceiling. He thought he saw a shadow move, but that didn't make any sense. Then, a moment later, his mother jerked around to look at the ceiling, extending an arm to protect the bed's occupant. From Ridley's point of view, it looked as if a shadow coalesced around his mother, blocking his view of her. A moment later, it disappeared; leaving his mother slumped across the bed.

From underneath the covers of the other bed, a small voice asked, "Mom? What happened mommy? Why are you lying there? Mommy?" The boy was out of the covers and kneeling next to his mother. A moment later, a man was in the room, moving next to the other boy. "You don't need to see this." Picking the boy up, the man rushed from the room.

Getting out from under his covers, Ridley dropped to the floor and moved over to the door, looking to see where the man had taken the other boy. As he stepped into the hall to see where he had gone, a film crossed his eyes and the world became black.

_______________________________________________________________________

Jerking awake, Hunter found he was covered in sweat. "What was all that?" Hunter asked the room. "Was that my real mom and was that other boy him? Did the file trigger that memory? Too many questions. There are just too many questions." Getting up from the bed, Hunter checked his chronometer and saw he had only been asleep an hour. Sighing, Hunter checked to make sure his equipment was ready for him later and left the room, going in search for the rest of the squadron. A little noise would be appreciated now; anything that could distract him from these new questions and plaguing thoughts.

Raigen was acting strangely. He rarely spent any time in the Aegis barracks and stopped using the simulators altogether. Raigen was in one of the stormtrooper lounges having a drink when he got the mission specs on his datapad. A mission, heh, he must have missed the meeting. This mission wasn't what was bothering him, it was the fact that they would be severely outnumbered. Despite his training, Raigen was known for outrunning armada's of capital ships, not facing them head on.

Raigen ordered another Corellian ale, ignoring the fact that he was underage. He thought about ditching the mission but if he slipped up again, it would be a demotion. Instead, he downed the ale and went t go take a quick nap in the temporary barracks assigned to Aegis. All e could do was sleep it off and hope for a good mission. The corridor of the deliberator seemed a lot longer than before. He was a little dizzy but managed to straiten himself out and make it to the barracks. Yes, sleep! That way, you'll be fresh for the slaughter you are about to commence. "Slaughter? What? Who said that?" It's me, you know me, we met at shipyard Zebra. "What are you talking about?" Of course you remember me, we saw each other through the canopies. Were you really sorry, or was that just words of comfort before I died? "You mean you're..." Raigen uttered just before he passed out in the doorway of the barracks.

As soon as he left his room, Hunter looked up and down the hall to see if anyone from the squad was waiting outside their room. Hmm, now what to do? I can either go knocking on all the doors down the hall, which is so not like me, or I can go wandering the ship looking for my squadron, which also isn't like me. Why am I doing this again? Glancing at a passing technician, Hunter smirked as the man looked back, caught sight of Hunter's mechanical eyes, and immediately jerked away, pace significantly faster. I guess I could just go around scaring young technicians until the meeting.

Deciding it was best to actually try and form some proper relations with the people in his squadron, especially some of the newer people he hadn't talked to very much on their last mission. Walking down the Aegis hallway, Hunter knocked on several doors to see if anyone was around, but everyone still seemed to be out somewhere. Hmm, eight hours left until the meeting. What would normal people go and do?

Heading off down a side corridor, Hunter checked a floor plan of the ship and found the nearest lounge to the meeting room and headed off. It was a relatively short walk, and once he arrived, he was surprised to find not only his squadron, but a few other squadrons that were going to be going on the mission as well. They had all apparently headed directly here from the meeting. Spotting Shiric and a few other people, he nodded and walked over.

As he slid into the booth, Templar greeting him, saying, "Good to see you do get out and about there Hunter. I was beginning to think you didn't like socialization."

"I don't." Hunter said with a smile. Templar took as a joke, laughing along with everyone else.

"What would you like to drink," Shiric said from across the table. "We have water and few other non-alcoholic drinks. We aren't aloud to drink so close to the mission apparently. I find that a little weird. It isn't like we're going to be drinking excessively."

"Well, you may not, but I would," a pilot from another squadron said, producing a few laughs. Leaning back into his seat, Hunter followed along as the group prattled about a few random things, just enjoying the free time they had before the mission. Who knew who wouldn't be making it back? Hunter was just thankful for the distraction. Although he barely talked, he did come to learn more about his squadron mates, although Raigen was missing. That didn't really bother Hunter, he already knew him from past missions. Blah and DJ were the two people he really wanted to know.

Hunter had learned a long time ago that the best way to learn about some one and how they acted in space was to listen to how they talked and how they acted with friends. If you knew how they interacted with people, it was the same principal to how they would interact with you in space. Team work was key for any mission, and that team work could be built both on the battlefield and also with just a simple conversation.

After a few hours of talking, people started to file out as the realized they hadn't gotten their equipment together yet or were about to be late for a meeting. Finally it was just DJ234, Hunter, Templar, and Shiric left at the table. "Well, that was enjoyable." Hunter stated.

  "You didn't talk." Shiric replied.

  "I don't really."

"Apparently, his parent's didn't teach him very good social skills," Templar joked.

"My parents died Templar." Realizing he hadn't said the right thing, Hunter tried to recover the conversation. "So, how long until the meeting now?"

"Four more hours," DJ234 answered. "What do you guys want to do?"

Hunter shrugged and said, "You guys decide." You really do need to learn how to be more social Hunter. He thought to himself as Templar and Shiric discussed a few ideas. Either that, or think before you speak.

(OOC It's more of a filler post. Sorry it's short. Just waiting for everyone to write, or Jaden to get us going. )

(OOC: He is now dreaming. This gets pretty intense and may have some language.)

The room was dark except for the light beaming down upon Raigen's already sweating forehead. Blood dripped slowly down from both his eyebrows and nose. It was evident that he had been unconcious for the past couple of hours. His hands were tied tightly behind the back of the chair and his head dangled downward as he slept. He was only fourteen, maybe younger. Slowly the child began to regain consciousness as his deep, teal eyes fluttered open, bloodshot and with large pupils. He coundn't help but squeez his eyes shut as thye bright illumination shone down into his face.

The room's silence was broken by a tall, muscular mandalore who entered the room. He stood a little under two meters with a gleaming bald head and fierce, glaring eyes of lime green. The rest of the scene passed through Raigen's mind like an out of body expirience. Drifting in and out of conscious and only remembering parts. Vague memories of having hot brands held against his body and being pumped for information passed through his thoughts.

Raigen's thoughts blurred away as more memories flashed before him. His mother, his life on Tatooine, his smuggling career, Gremman, Korriban, his visit to Coruscant, the only girl he loved, the abrubt end to that relationship, his return to the CSA, his imprisonment, his escape, the capture of Gremman, the capture of his ship, being sold into slavory, and being rescued by the empire. All these memories flashing befor him at once......

"Shall we go fly a simulation maybe?" Templar asked.

"No," Shiric shot the suggestion down. They had been going back and forth for ten minutes, while Hunter and DJ234 just sat and watched. "How about a game of Sabacc?"

"No," Templar responded. How many things to do can there be on a ship? Hunter pondered. "Pazaac?"

"No, and stop mentioning it. That was the fifth time." Shiric stated.

"Well that was the second time you mentioned Sabacc."

"You know what," Hunter started, "I think I'll stop by Jaden's office for a quick conversation before the meeting. You guys have fun." DJ234 shot Hunter a pleading look to stay.

"Oh really, alright." Shiric said. "See you at the meeting then."

Hunter mouthed, "I'm sorry," to DJ as he left the room and headed down the hall. Hmm, where is Jaden's office on this ship? Looking around, Hunter tried to find another floor map but his efforts bore no fruit. As another technician walked by, Hunter turned to him and asked, "Would you happen to know where I can find a floor plan or terminal?"

The man jumped slightly at being addressed by a stranger then quickly regained his composure, asking, "Are you looking for someone?"

"Yes. Aegis leader Jaden Khaar. Would you happen to know where his office is located?" Hunter asked, thinking maybe the man might know for some reason.

"No, I'm sorry. But there is a communications room down the hall a bit, I'm sure you could ask someone in their too look it up on one of their stations. Is that all you needed?"

"Yes thanks," Hunter said over his shoulder, already half way down the hall. Once inside the communications room, he quickly found an attendant and asked him to find the room he was looking for. It just had to be on the other side of the ship. I hate walking.

Pressing the signal button to the room, Hunter leaned against the wall for a minute. What looked to be only a short walk had turned into an effort at futility. After getting lost twice, Hunter had finally given into the fact that he was completely lost and had asked for someone else's help. This day just seems to never end. When are we going to get into space? "Come in." Jaden's voice said from inside the room.

Hunter stepped through the door and shut it behind him. "Hello Jaden," Hunter greeted, moving across the room. "I just wanted to stop in for a quick chat to go over some things before the Aegis meeting."

"Ah, sit down then. I take it you read the mission profile and information I sent you?" Jaden asked.

"Yes I did. It looks like we're going to be quite busy out there, and even though our leader's speech earlier tried to give us the picture that this was going to be a cake walk, the fact is that we are going to be outnumbered part of the time. Am I correct in this, and what are your plans to counteract this?" Hunter asked. Jaden and Hunter had always gotten to business it seemed, though this was due to Hunter's lack of beating around the bush. I really should try to act more social Hunter though to himself for the umpteenth time that day.

Jaden laughed. "Never one to enjoy a bit of banter are you Hunter? Oh well, I guess that's just who you are. Now, down to business then."

"My plan is this," said Jaden, "As I am just commanding the squadron, I have no control over what the other ships in the area do or what the captain does with the fleet, but as a squadron, we're going to be going fast and heavy almost the entire time.  Being outnumbered greatly means we're going to have to work together.  I'm sure ther'll be more information on enemy fighters in the meeting, but to my estimates and simulation runs I have created, we're going to be facing a good 6 squadrons, not counting reserve supply," said Jaden

Hunter sat there as if his world had been overturned.  "Six Squadrons?  Of X-wings or a mix?" asked Hunter, he seemed so discouraged.

"Mixed I'm sure.  They'll send A-wings after us most likely, since we'll be the fastest fighter group in the fleet.  I'm going to be flying my Hornet Interceptor," said Jaden

"Wonderful, wonderful.  So, we're going with the Hit and Run most likely?" said Hunter

Jaden sat there, a grin appearing on his face as he began to answer the question.

"Nope, not a Hit and Run.  I like to call it a G N R.  Gun it and Run it.  We're going to make flybys on random things in the enemy fleet, going full throttle, and depending on what tail we have, we can bring them around to the allied cruisers and let the turbolasers do the rest," said Jaden

Hunter sat there once more, mouth dropped to the floor.  "Uh...Jaden, are you sure about this?"

"I've been running simulations since before the first briefing.  I've already got a list of targets in my targetting computer ready to be marked.  We're going to be moving so fast you're not going to realize whats goin on, thats why I need everyone to get their heads straight and concentrate for this mission," said Jaden

There came a knock on the door as Jaden finished his sentence.

Politely he said, "Come in"

It was his secretary once more, with another cup of Java.

"Thank you Joice," said Jaden

"Your welcome sir," she said with a smile on her face.  Jaden was by now grinning and looking her up and down.

Hunter just sat there, soaking the entire mission idea in and watching as his commander checked out the only secretary on the wing and attempted to flirt with her.  She exited the room and they got back to business.

"So, you've got the plan down now right," said Jaden, sipping from the newly arrived beverage.

"I've got it, so, we've got two hours to spare.  What to do?"

Jaden sat back in the chair and lifted his feet up and put them on the desk, ruffling papers around while doing so.  He became the most relaxed Hunter had seen him all day.

"I'm going to relax, right here, and think about life.  You?"

Hunter sat in the chair, still oblivious to all of the information that he was soaking in.

"Mind if I join?"

Raigen pulled himself off the floor as and into a bunk. He rolled over on his back and stared into the room while he thought. Nothing was the same anymore. Raigen had lived to be a smuggler and ever that fell through on him. The only thing he had left now was being a pilot, and he was now having second thoughts. He needed to take a leave. Sort things out. But the squadron needed him. He stared some more into nothingness and then got up for a walk.

The hall was empty of pilots, just the occasional tech or troop. Raigen headed for the simulator. Templar was kicking Shiric's butt and after a few seconds, Shiric's ship was shot down and she got up from her seat angrily. "Now can we play Sabaac?" she said. Templar countered with, "Not until I beat you one more time!"

"I'll take you," Raigen said. Templar seemed eager toface Raigen ever since they missed their chance to sim race a few weeks ago. Raigen took Shiric's seat and started the sim. It was a space sim, blank space dogfight between Raigen and Templar. Templar was going full speed searching for Raigen's craft while Raigen sort of hovered and turned his ship to find his target. A green dot showed up on Raigen's scanners and he poured on his speed and set his craft en route for Templar. "Use your scanners Templar!" Raigen said as he closed in. Templar tried to turn his craft around and fire but Raigen was too close behind. Raigen rolled right and took a wide turn before setting his cross-hairs on Templar and getting a lock. A concussion missile launched from the sim fighter and made its way into Templar's shields. "My shields!" he yelled as he tried to shake Raigen.

Templar jerked his ship right and then dove into a back flip. Raigen wasn't paying attention and all of a sudden, Templar was behind him having a feild day on his shields. They went down fast and Raigen had to take evasive maneuvers. Raigen took Templar on a wild chase for about three minutes of constant turns and maneuvers. Raigen remembered something from his crime days. He rolled right and pulled his ship into a turn and so did Templar. Raigen rolled his ship until he had set his ship on a left turn with Templar completely clueless. A quick immelman set Raigen behind Templar and his last missiles made contact with his target.

*Target Neutralized*

"How did you do that?" Templar asked, puzzled.

"They don't teach you everything in BT Templar!" Raigen said before flinching from the massive headache.

Hunter had now left, and Jaden sat in his office alone, once again.  He had been concentrating deeply on the mission ever since Hunter had come.  They had a nice chat, went through a good 7 cups of Java, and seemed ready to go for the mission.  15 minutes and Jaden would be back in the flight suit, ready to go.  It was meeting time.

"All Pilots report to your commanders, All pilots report to your commanders, briefing is commencing in 5 minutes" said a loudvoice over the speakers in the Imperial Star Destroyer.  The Debilitator had created a good name for itself, and most of the men aboard it were proud to say they flew with such a highly noted crew.

Jaden sat up from his desk, slammed the last cup of Java down, and headed straight for his barracks.  From there, he changed into his flight suit, as they were already inbound for the enemies and would be entering realspace within the hour.  Most of the other pilots would have thought to do the same; being prepared was a huge thing that showed high respect to superior officers, and Jaden knew this too well.

While walking down the corridor with his helmet in his hand, Jaden spotted the rest of the group not to far ahead.  He kept quiet though, eavesdropping on their conversation to see how they would feel about going on the mission.  He couldn't catch much, which meant that they were all really excited and anticipated for the mission, or they were feeling the exact opposite.

*****

Captain Mikael Skysterov listed all of the information that most of the pilots already knew, and pretty much went through everything that all of the pilots had memorized in their heads from rigorous simulation runs and the sort before the mission.  After the breifing, all of the pilots were to head straight to the hanger and start check ups.  It was beginning.

Raigen climbed into his cockpit and ran through his systems. His interceptor was worn and broken in. The seat was faded and the straps were frayed but tough. Raigen pulled out his data pad to upload his flight settings. When he went to hook it up to his terminal, his data pad fell and slid underneath his seat. Raigen leaned foreward and tried to reach under the seat for it, then he felt something soft. Upon pulling out the item, he saw that it was a cloth id tag for a flight suit. It read "WO2C Warren Tei-Yehn" his father.

"Jaden," He called over the com,"Is there another Tei-Yehn in the Navy?"

"Not that I know of. Run a background check on Tei-Yehn when we get back, maybe there's something in the archive." Jaden said as he prepared his own ship. Raigen stuffed the id into his pocket and strapped himself in. He waited for Jaden to start the count as he turned on the vitals of the ship. It came to life as the various lights and instruments lit up. Being a fighter pilot wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for all the killing.

Raigen tried to remember his father, but he was too young to know who he was. It was a lost cause. No records of his dad were left and if anyone did know anything, they kept well quiet. Raigen put the thought out of his head and ran through his preflight checklist.

The klaxons on the ship started blaring as everyone aboard the Imperial Star Destroyer Debilitator prepared to enter realspace and start the battle.  All of the fighters had gone through their checks throughout the entire fleet.  Everything was ready to go.

"Aegis one to taskforce commander," said Jaden, "All fighters in Aegis Squadron are green for mission go"

"Taskforce commander to Aegis leader, your reports are equal to those of the entire taskforce.  Prepare for launch in 5 minutes," said Captain Mikael Skysterov.

Jaden sat in the Hornet Interceptor, running the entire mission simulations through his mind.  As he had thought thuroughly before, they were greatly outnumbered, but had the exact firepower and were more experience than the enemy.  Imagines flashed though his mind as he kept the though deep in his head.

"Alright pilots, get focused in.  We've got a mission to accomplish here, and those other pilots out there are counting on ever single one of us, along with the families of the loved ones on those captured cruisers, even if they aren't alive, revenge still needs to be taken"

By the time Jaden had finished his small speech, the stars elongated and formed the regular pattern in front on him.  His repulsor lifts clicked on by the flick of a switch, and before anyone knew it, they were back in space, ready to fight.

Before Jaden stood the entire enemy taskforce.  A vast array of ships and fighters were just floating there, as if they were waiting for them to jump in.  They had the advantage somehow of knowing their enemies path.

"Good god they knew we were coming," said Jaden, "Form up on my wing fighters, we're going in.  I've got marks in the targetting computer as we speak, sending co-ordiants now."

Jaden entered the co-ords into the computer and sent them to all of the pilots in the squadron.  Their main objective was to gain air superiority and escort the bombers on their runs to all ships in the area.  It was a full scale attack.  While they would bomb one set of cruisers, another group would disable the empires cruisers that had been captured and seize them back.  Boarding parties would then secure ships and take control.  Aegis had no part in that, but there was a possibility, a small chance that they would need to intervene.

"Marks of those Razor fighters are coming in fast, along with the other two flights of A-wings.  They haven't sent out any X-wings yet, thats weird," said Hunter, "Usually those are the first to be launched"

"Seems as though they are saving the best for the last Aegis Two.  Aegis one switching to advanced missiles and engaging," said Jaden

"Aegis squadron, you have permission to engage," said Captain Mikael Skysterov, almost immediately after Jaden's comment over the comchannel.

The enemy fighters came quickly.  They seemed to be more advanced from before, but Jaden wasn't sure on their tactics.  He was an excellent pilot, but all pilots had some kind of problem reading the enemy.  It wasn't especially hard for Jaden at the time.

The targetting redicule quickly flickered to red and let out a long beep, queing Jaden to release the missiles and switch to a new target.  He switched to the next mark and fired off two more missiles, but the fighters were closing fast so he was sure that he would overshoot them.

What a waste of a good shot

Jaden quickly switched over to cannons and pounded on the trigger, lighting up the entire starboard shield of one of the enemy fighters that was coming around.  It was full dogfight now, and the pilots of Aegis Squadron would have to do their best to survive.

Raigen's interceptor broke from the group and gained velocity. A wingman would just slow him down and besides, groups are easier to target in these large battle situations. No, he would go it alone. His interceptor pushed its limits as it evaded stray blasts from random enemy fighters. His only concern right now was staying alive, something that would not be easy given the situation. Raigen kept an eye on his squadron as he maneuvered his fighter through the battle. He circled the battle area at a good distance from the fighting, trying not to be an obvious target.

About a minute of idle searching went on before Raigen was notived. An enemy razor fighter pulled in close behind him and he was forced to roll through an element of passing fighters. Fire from the razor passed Raigen's ship in all directions as he pulled away so as not to be locked on. The interceptor was faster and more maneuverable, allowing Raigen to lose him in a little less than a minute and then trail the opponent for a revenge kill. The razor tried to turn away but Raigen slowed his turn and was able to come out right behind him. Rai locked on and a missile launched from his ship. It was over before it started.

There was a shake as a blast hit raigen's solar panels. He one eightied and caught himself in a chicken fight with an a-wing. He spiraled as the awing tried to fire on him. The two crafts would have collided if the a-wing had not broken off. Raigen followed and tore into the ship with his blasters. The explosion/implosion was barely noticed by Raigen who was trying to forget the fact that he just killed someone.

"How are you holding up, Raigen?" Jaden asked over the com.

"Ok, for now. Just take down as many as you can. I can't take all of them!" Raigen turned his craft for another target, but none were found. The rest of Aegis had already wiped some of them out and were now trailing the rest. Raigen lowered his thruster's power and circled his area before finding a stray A-wing and breaking for it. The a-wing was harder to follow than the others. Raigen followed into a series of sharp turns before finally losing it.

"Dang...Where did it go?" he said to himself. He was answered by the fire barely missing his ship. He took evasive maneuvers and rolled towards his squadron. "A little help here!"

Tobias Kneoic was reading a book. Not a very good book, a rather bore, a waste of magnetic disc. "To Kill A Mynock", unfortunately not a how-to novel. But even so, it beat the company on the shuttle. Scum of the earth rude snobs with a superiority complex. The irony was sickening, but not as sickening as space travel for the poor bloke across from him.
The journey terminated in the hangar bay of the grand Deliberator, and not a moment to soon. Kneoic was really quite disappointed in the lack of view ports, when he became something important, we would certainly make provisions so that all lowlife scum would gain the benefit of the spectacle of an Imperial Star Destroyer in its full glory, the benefit of knowledge in that all rebellion would be adequately squashed. Wouldn't want those Crewmen to waste their valuable time in wasteful plotting. Simply wouldn't do.
Disembarking procedure was quite a bore, wasting the precious time of key personnel that could be put to better use in a TIE. The passengers were directed to board in an orderly manner, yet proven inefficient in the fact that it made Kneoic have to wait. Regulations that needed fixing, he placed it on the list of things to do when important, but realized that such thinking was only wasting neurons. Why, he should voice such important revelations to personnel such as the personnel officer sorting the passengers as they disembarked from the small shuttle, using a data pad as his guide.
    "You, you're going to&"
"Sir, this disembarking protocol shows a lack of thought on the part of the authors. I recommend&"
"You. You were going to the Aegis pilot reserves."
The officer slashed at the screen with the stylus.
"Combat status. You, sucker, are going in on the first charge. Have fun prick."
Reminded him of his drill instructor.
<><><>
Kneoic was expecting a tour, instead of a vague numerical indicator of bunk space. His only companion was a small duffel containing personal articles and the bustle of a capital ship preparing for all out war. He arrived in his personal compartment and prepared to stow his belongings in proper Imperial protocol, slightly modified for efficiency's sake.
"All Pilots report to your commanders, All pilots report to your commanders, briefing is commencing in 5 minutes."
What? Hardly enough time. However, when duty calls, your duffel is left on the ground in favor of a mad search for the briefing room.
<><><>
Briefing was all new, but was treated as a review for the rest of the flight members. Entering into the fray this late in the process made Kenoic quite worried as to the actual plan.
He quickly walked in proper posture toward the hangar bay, confident in his flying abilities, but not in his role. Catching up with who he assumed to be the squadron commander:
"Excuse me sir, I've been placed in your squadron."
    "Oh?"
"Yes, I was to be a reserve pilot, but was bumped up to combat duty. I've just arrived, any particular notes I should follow?"
"Yes. Try not to die too quickly."
    "Yes sir."
    Well that seemed simple.
<><><>
Having made his way to the hangar, Kenoic quickly oriented himself, and started the checklist. The fighter seemed to be in order excepting a few non-standard modifications which he was briefed on en route. He could certainly handle this ship.
Kneoic reported in using standard syntax, likely broadcasting his status as new-guy. The speech certainly confused him, as he did not even know why this battle was going to take place, merely how. The shudder of repulsorlifts being activated sent a chill through his spine as he realized he was in the big league now.
"Oh shit." He muttered to himself without keying the radio.
The co-ords came over to his targeting just fine, and with the proclamation of incoming bandits his confidence waned. He was in for it now.
"You, sucker, are going in on the first charge." quoth Tobias to himself, the wisdom of the personnel officer arriving from the past like a turbo laser as the bandits arrived in a similar fashion from ahead.
His combat training snapped him out of this moment of reflection like a hypnotist's snap, a hypnotist who until recently had been whispering in Kneoic's ear: "&on the count of three, you will line your crosshairs up with the enemy fighter. You will hold your fire until the last moment." He obeyed. "You will open fire now." Kneoic did, the green globs of pure energy floating outward at a remarkable clip. "You will try to turn around before the other bastard can." He obeyed. "You will close to 400 meters and fire again for three seconds." This part, Kenoic was having trouble with. He turned on his brain again to realize the insanity of his head-on attack, but distinctly recalled the blasts nearing the vicinity of enemy. He should have hit it, but wasn't sure. His hard 170 degree turn in a vertical plane had left him a bit disorientated until the targeting comp reminded him that his quarry had blasted on past Kneoic's squadron, and was slowly turning around to the right for another pass. Tobias was aimed in the general direction of the bandit and was attempting to close the distance. Tobias was also aware that his maneuver had left him out of formation in the middle of his first battle.
    Oops.

Raigen was now being tailed by the a-wing as he rolled into a downward spiral and broke aay a bit. He was pulled back into his seat as he broke right towards his squadron. He had never flown like this before. It was like a dance, only with blasters and missiles. Raigen flew past the squadron and either shiric or templar took down the a-wing. "Thanks guys." He said as he reset his course.

"No problem, why not try to stick with a wingman, eh" he heard someone say over the com channel. Raigen tok the advice and directed his tie toward Kneoic.

"Ok, Aegis 3. Time you learned something they don't teach you in basic." Raigen said as he pulled up besides Tobias and slowed his craft even to Kneoic's.

"Ok 4. By the way, if you are my wingman, what do I call you." Tobias asked.

"I dunno. Shiric calls me her knight," Raigen laughed as he sped ahead and drew the target out,"What's my tag Hunter?"

"How about crazy kid who nearly get's himself killed everytime he's in a ship," Hunter said.

"Call me Anjin! I think it's Lorelian for pilot." Raigen said as Tobias gunned down the target and regrouped.

"Corellian you mean?" Shiric asked.

"Lorelian. They speak on the forest moon of Gestalt V, Lorelai." DJ answered as he and aegis 6 pursued a target. Raigen took up a spot to tobias's left and looked to his scanners for a target.

"Ok three, pick a target and well move in on him." Raigen said as he fell back behind Blah.

"Copy that, follow me and I'll put the pressure on him while you take the shot." Raigen was surprised at Tobias's quick thinking, although there was really nothing to be surprised about. These new recruits were going through a lot thicker training than what Raigen had. Raigen even managed to weasle out of taking the entrance exams.

Tobias looked for a target,"I don't read any x-wings on my scanners, those are usually easy to overwhelm."

"No x-wings, what the hell. You mean to tell me they onlysent out these god forsaken a-wings."

"That and these razor fighters, but most of those were taken out first." DJ said. Apparently, he and one of the new recruits were doing well. Raigen followed Tobias to a two man element of a-wings. The a-wings quickly sped up and tried to break away. "No ganging up on these two Aegis Three. I'll take the element leader and you make sure the second doesn't get away. Just don't break away from me!"

Raigen increased his velocity and banked toward the element leader with Tobias close behind him. The enemy element took a sharp laft and Raigen had to slow down to match the turn. It was like trying to chase a tauntaun barefoot. As Raigen and Kneoic caught up, the a-wings pulled right and disapeared.

"Where did they go?" Ragen asked as he slowed his craft and checked his scanners, which never seemed to work in any situation.

"Behind us, look out!" Tobias yelled over the channel.

"Quick, roll right pull up and hit it!" Raigen said.

"Do what?" said tobias, who was confused at the barked orders.

"Follow me!" Raigen said as he rolled his craft almost comletly upsidedown and pulled the flight stick back. His interceptor went into a rolling 180 and Tobias soon followed. Raigen and Tobias opened fire on the enemies and both a-wings exploded simutaneously.

Zurth had been trying to stay back, following Jaden the best he could, feeling secure in such a pilot's shadow, and insecure in his own abilities. This adventure had been the first actual mission that he had been on, and in Scrace's mind, he assumed that many were nervous. But it was not the actual mission on hand that was causing such nervousness inside the young pilot. It was the thought that he could blank out at any specific time. Though he had gotten better at controlling it by this point in time, by no means was it completely under control.

It all had spawned from his bloodlust, and that bloodlust was filling him now. Stupidity would follow, but right then it did not matter. He had broken away from the squad, and was headed off in a solo position, having left SCRW Landala behind. A reprimand was surely to follow this act, but it was something in the there and now that must be done.

The vision that filled the head of Scrace Crin'Doloi was not of a victory, but of a horrible accident that he would not survive. This feeling only got stronger as he zipped through space, maneuvering his Interceptor at near full speed around the remains of A-Wings and Razor's that were blown to pieces, destroyed along with their pilots by the attack the rest of Aegis Squadron had placed.

The opportunity had presented itself. Zurth had nearly lost himself again as he was speeding onward, until a repeating red cannon fire caught his attention by rattling his shields. With a fright, he had sat straighter than thought possible, and broke to the right in an attempt to evade the attacking party. For a moment, it seemed as if Scrace had done it, but a shot had come from near straight on that looked as if it would shatter him along with his Interceptor.

Red seemed to become Zurth's sight as he barreled towards the A-Wing that was dead center in front of him now. His piloting was still a slight bit sloppy at this time, surely setting off the rebel pilot, making the game of chicken that was commencing into a more harsh reality.

Trajectories remained the same, the Interceptor and A-Wing were set to collide if something did not happen. A cold sweat had formed along the creases and wrinkles of Zurth's lekku, a twitch having started in the very tip. His cold eyes had focused on the coming disaster, and he was prepared to die in those harsh depths of space.

Shots were not fired until the two crafts pilots could clearly see the others blurred bulk. A glowing menagerie filled their glowing whites as they came ever closer. At the very last moment, both fighters shields diminishing quickly, the rebel pilot pulled upward with the A-Wing, coming to a near miss. The shields, in their last effort of protection, split the Interceptor and A-Wing apart, slamming Scrace around in his cockpit.

No one would know how the rebel pilot had fared. An explosion occurred as soon as the A-wing was away from the TIE, still a bit disoriented. Another Interceptor was seen a ways off.

"Aegis seven! Fall back into formation!" The voice could be told to be Jaden's.

"Yes, Sir."

Zurth had known he would pay hell when this mission were over.

Raigen and Tobias had to go around the debris of the A-wings but came out unharmed. Another pair of A-wings saw their fellow pilot's destruction and came in for the retribution kills. "Get ready Aegis three, here they come," he said as he snapped on his oxygen mask in preparation for the high-g maneuvers they were about to under take. Raigen and Tobias both banked their crafts to the right and pulled up simultaneously. The a-wings matched their feat and added a complete roll to counter the tie pilots' maneuvers. "Looks like they want to dance, Toby. Well, let's dance!" Raigen said. He was acting cool and collected, maybe it was the ale not letting him realize the danger he was in.

Raigen led Tobias into a split-s but the A-wings quickly made their way around and fired a few shots at the two. The two interceptors spiraled around each other as the shots seem to pass right by. Tobias and Raigen broke off to different sides and did a rolling one-eighty back toward the a wings. The a-wings had to split up to avoid being gunned down and the two ties followed the wingman. Aegis three made the kill as his blaster fire broke through the side of the turning craft.

The remaining a-wing decided to target Tobias and pulled in behind him. Raigen jerked the control back and his ship went into a relative, upward climb. A quick push and turn sent the interceptor spiraling straight down and behind the bandit. The unrelentless firing of Raigen's blasters from behind caught the A-wing pilot off guard and a blast impaled the enemy's thrusters.

"Those Razors are gonna drop like flies." Tobias said over the com network as he and Raigen found their next targets. The both turned into a banking left turn and gained in on a trio of Razor fighters. "All right Three, punch it and roll, the birds on the outside will split so aim for them first and split up when they do. You'll have to slow up a bit `else you'll pass right by them."

"How do you know they'll brake formation?" Tobias asked as Raigen increased powers to thrusters. Raigen rolled his fighter away from Tobias. He remarked as his interceptor closed in on the enemy fighters. The lasers on the interceptor opened up on the unsuspecting pilot. Its right "wing" blew away from the spherical cockpit and the fighter spiraled off, nearly hitting it's wingman.

"That's why," Raigen said as he broke to follow the one on the left. This wasn't a dogfight, it was a fox hunt, and Rai was the hunter. The Razor he was following did a lopsided version of a split-s an turned itself around toward Raigen. They were both firing on each other until Raigen got a lock and fired his missile into the razor's cockpit. Despite his training, Raigen flew strait through the debris and barely managed to come out unharmed.

Raigen's headache kicked back in and his ship jerked when he flinched. He leveled out and guided Tobias back to the squadron. His interceptor fell in next to Jaden as he scanned for targets. "I don't think there are any left Jaden. That or my fricken scanners are broken," he said as he slowed his ship down to a crawl. A few seconds later, he was back at full speed, heading toward a Corellian corvette, leaving aegis three in his dust.

Raigen poured on as much speed as his ship could handle and went straight for the ships bridge. A barrage of laser fire nearly hit his fighter but he managed to roll away from it. He aimed his crosshairs toward the ship's bridge. Two missiles launched from the interceptor and collided into the forward shields of the corvette. Raigen jerked his ship to the left of the ship before flipping it upside down and using the yokes to pass underneath the ship and come out on the other side. He then broke toward his squadron as a heavy laser fire passed by his interceptor.

It would have been smooth sailing until Raigen realized that his shields were down and someone had a lock on him. It was the razor he damaged earlier. Raigen could do nothing but close his eyes and pull his controls as far right as he could. It was no use, the missile exploded on his left wing and sent his spiraling off into the emptiness of space. His cockpit maintained stability but a small fire had caught to Raigen's left leg. He was just able to smother the flames out before blacking out from the high-g, uncontrollable spinning of the craft.

(A bit narrative here, but don't mind it.  It gets the point across of where you should be and what is going on in the plot)

Captain Mikael Skysterov stood at the bridge of the Imperial Star Destroyer Debilitator, watching through the viewport as the battle pressed on.  The cruisers had now moved into position and were taking fire on eachother.  Having some sort of element of suprise gave them first strike and they were coming away with more than they had expected.  The flagship of the taskforce had taken a few minor hits from the Interdictor Cruiser Sunbeam.  They were the first to be engaged.  Both cruisers were equally attacking eachother in the battle as it pressed on.

Dreadnaught Vanity had taken up fight with the enemy Corvettes Esau, Balsa, and Sonic.  While they had come into the small battle with enough firepower to last, they were interupted by enemy Nebulon B-Frigate Portray.  Once this had happened, Lietenant Mon Calamari Galt came to assist, but was then cut off by Assault Frigate Existence.

And now, to the present battle.

Jaden switched back over to cannons as he tailed two A-wings.  He had been keeping on their tail as they were attacking targets together.  Both of them were down to less than half of their original hull, which meant all it would take would be a couple more shots they they were history.

"Tobias, come around and take out one of these fighters, I'll tag the other one," said Jaden

"Affirmative on that one," said Tobias

Jaden pushed the throttle to full and came up on the rear of the left A-wing faster than he thought he would, nearly colliding with the enemy fighter.  He let of, cannons blaring, and finally, the enemy craft was destroyed.  Out of the corner of his viewport, Jaden could see that Tobais's fighter was coming around.  Within a few seconds, the second New Republic A-wing was exploded and back into the pieces from which it was created.

"Nice shot Tobais," commented Jaden as he searched around for another target.

"Attention All pilots, veer your flight path from the enemy Corvette Esau.  It's on a kamikazi run for the Dreadnaught Vanity, and is loaded with explosive materials.  Shockwaves could take out an entire squadron or more," said Captain Mikael Skysterov.

Jaden turned the fighter towards the other smaller battle and watched as the three corvettes simultaniously exploded, sending the Dreadnaught Vanity and Two squadrons of Tie Fighters and Bombers into the depths of hell.

"Whoa!" yelled Jaden over the com system.

The New Republic had taken a new twist of attacking in this battle.  Suicide.  It was really starting to get bad, and when Jaden thought it couldn't get any worse, it did.

"We're picking up multiple signatures.  They've just hypered it right behind the damaged Assault Frigate Existance.  I want every able fighter there to save that craft." yelled the Captain through the com system.

"Alright boys, you heard him.  Looks like we got another Corvette with its own fighters, and we need to take it out before it attempts any more of that suicide bullshit," said Jaden

The fighters in the squadron had now formed up and were moving at full speed.  Jaden was moving a tad bit faster, but nevertheless, he would need to get there before his squadron to scope things out a little more.

"Jaden, this is Mikael," said the captain, "I want you and your squadron to make sure that this corvette does not get close to the assault frigate.  We've ordered it to go full engines and run, and I want you to take out those engines so it can't go anywhere.  Also, looks like there's been a turn of events.  The three ships that were captured from us earlier have been recaptured, so we may still be in this fight. Remember, those are the Lancer Frigate Diabolical Array, Carrack Cruiser Blitzkreig, and the Dreadnaught Enforcer.  That is All"

"Get it done boys" said Jaden

"Aegis Squadron, you heard your orders." Jaden's voice had come over the coms while Zurth was still in a state of shock when still watching the pieces of the mass destruction that had occurred with the New Republics suicide bombings. He had barely evaded some of the wreckage while jumping along with the rest of the squadron  towards the newly arriving corvettes.

Thoughts were rampant in Scrace's mind as he saw the corvettes come into view after the squadron had passed up the Existance. Having broken with Feris Landala as his wingman, the two ducked their TIE's beneath the Assault Frigate, and right into the depths of hell themselves. Not suicide mission on their parts, they raged forward and straight towards one of the corvettes that were before them.

"Aegis 6, let's get the cannons burning." Zurth had pulled ahead of Landala by this point, but Feris was quickly coming up behind. And before Senior Crewman Landala could respond, a group of razors started towards them. Seven against two were insurmountable odds as Zurth banked left, and Landala Yo-Yo'ed behind him, in a mock retreat. Both had been in agreement that they needed to lure these fighters farther back towards their own squadron to even have the chance to succeed.

"Aegis seven. Zurth. We have to take out some of these razors." Landala had turned his Interceptor back around. Scrace was quick to follow, knowing that the punishment he would receive from letting his wingman die would be worse than a death himself. Feris had sped forward, opening up his cannons into the group of Razor's, taking ones wing out and sending it into the one directly below it.

Zurth had rolled to the side to get out from behind Landala. Beep. Beep. Beep. The sensors on Scrace's Interceptor had gone nuts, and a countdown had begun. Not one of time, but distance. A missile had been fired at the TIE, but from where? Having let the distance dwindle down, at almost the last moment, Zurth's Interceptor bore downward, the missile barely missing. It was somehow set off, as it exploded, and knocked Zurth off track. His shields had shimmered with the reaction.

Landala took out another Razor before breaking to the right, "Zurth, watch your tail."

"I know! I can't see 'em, and my sensors are failing."

At that moment, an A-wing had jetted past Scrace, barely making it away before pulling up while in a barrel roll to turn back towards his Interceptor. Not another game of chicken. Cannon fire was bouncing off of Zurth's shields as he broke into a wide roll to go past the a-wing fighter. Having brought the A-Wing facing away on his AOT, Scrace barely noticed the explosion that had happened behind him.

"Watch your ass, Zurth." At least it had been a friendly voice. Not in tone, but corporation, as Raigen's Interceptor had sped by his own.

Almost in a feeling of defeat, Zurth had noticed another fighter, this one a razor, coming in from below Raigen, and apparently not on his Aegis team member's sensors. Raigen's cannons opened fire, bellowing down on an assailant heading towards the seemingly abandoned Landala. The razor had exploded, sending shrapnel into Feris' shields.

"Thanks, Raigen."

"Not a problem, Fe...." An explosion happened underneath the cocky yet excellent pilots Interceptor. He had seen the pieces of a razor flowing upward in the frictionless space behind himself as he sped forward. "Who's shooting on my ass?"

"Call it a return favor, Aegis four." Zurth had smiled and gloated to himself as he tried to catch up. Under his breath, and off of the com, he had said, "Now go eat a bantha's ass."

To hold consistent with previous analogies, the dynamic duo's dance diversion had left Tobias rather confused. He followed orders of the confident pilot and came out quite allright, but the technique seemed quite odd. However, he was still intact and thus happy with the situation.

The squadron leader's comment pertaining to Tobias' skill in gunnery was much appreciated, and caused him to think about possibilities for advancement. Snapping back to the present, command's orders and warning about the suicide ships was accented with the massive detonations. How insane they must be, Tobias thought. How bloody insane must one be to throw your life behind some political ideal, some organization? But all this contradiction to his logic did was galvanize his reasoning behind watching his back first, and the Empire's second.

Tobias acknowledged Jaden's orders, "I hear and understand commander." Before he asked the commander for further details, he recalled his recent studies of the common rebellion ship classes. "Commander, are you thinking we should go for the dorsal stabilizer fin and shut down the reactor? If we just disable the engines the captain may still set off the charges or use the reactor to blow up everyone this side of Corellia."

"Corellian corvettes do have a distinct design flaw, however. Their principal solar and stabilizer fin, mounted dorsally, is located directly above the main reactor. Damage to the fin could cause vibrations that would overload the reactor. In these situations, the captain of the vessel would be forced to shut down the reactor."))

"Commander, are you thinking we should go for the dorsal stabilizer fin and shut down the reactor? If we just disable the engines the captain may still set off the charges or use the reactor to blow up everyone this side of Corellia."

Zurth hadn't waited to hear what his commander was thinking, but pondered over the suggestion from Tobias in just a split second and then broke away from his wingman. He had felt cocky after saving Raigen from the coming doom of a razor's attack. Then seeing the self thought greatest pilot get his systems knocked out made Zurth feel a bit overconfident himself. Or maybe it was the feel of the kill? What it was exactly will never truly be known.

Scrace dodged the cannons of the corvette, making it near the rear of the craft before coming into contact with more of the razors. The rest of the squad had been blowing them out of the way, giving Zurth the opportunity to sneak in, but apparently not unnoticed. He fired, knocking out on of the two assailants that sent a cloud of shrapnel making the other barrel to the side, then pull sharply back  to dodge the wreckage of its wingman. By that time, Crin'Doloi was filled with adrenaline, his sight focused, as well as his target lock. He knew then that what he was about to do was against the books, and stupid none the less, but Scrace headed straight towards the craft before breaking into a barrel roll to widen the gap. He sent a missile outward, close enough to the razor that it had no time to evade. The concussion reeled Zurth's Interceptor, nearly making the craft unable to handle. It was too late to turn back now. He wanted the attention. He wanted the medals that would come with the glory taking out an entire corvette by himself would gain. He wanted, most of all, blood. Scrace wouldn't see the blood, but in some way, it was good enough to know that a rebel had shed it and it would forever float in the vast depths of space.

It was known to Aegis seven that his shields were now only at seventy-five percent, but nothing would stop him. His course was set, and his mind made. His cannons had opened up full, and he watched the shields of the rebel corvette absorb the blasts in little reverberations that reminded Scrace of the rancid puddles in the ryll mines of Ryloth.

Still determined, he kept his course, and fired upon the corvette until his cannons were overheated. "You nerf herding son of a bantha!"

Scrace Crin'Doloi began unloading his missiles on the dorsal fin of the corvette. Each one had hit its mark, but didn't get past the shields. With one missile left, and his cannons still cooling, a flush of relief passed over Zurth. The shields dropped. Maybe it was the work of the rest of the squadron, Zurth didn't know then, and still doesn't now. He got extremely close to his target to make his final shot, and fired the last missile. It sped forward.

Anticipation had filled Zurth. He knew that the one missile wasn't enough to take out the full function of the fin, but maybe enough to make it more vulnerable to the rest of the attack. He waited, watching the movement of his high explosive. Having watched the missile make contact and destroy, he was ecstatic.

Zurth pulled up, having been heading straight for the fin of the corvette, and not wanting to die in an avoidable crash, to pass over the craft. "What the hell?"

Crin'Doloi's lekku twitched with the anger as he Yo-Yo'ed his TIE to review the damage. As he passed back over, he noticed a small cloud of scrap brushing against the rebel vessel. A razor had gotten in front of the missile, most likely inadvertently.

Anger was all that Zurth felt. Storming as quickly as he could, he had sped away from the corvette, knowing that he only had his cannons to contend with any assailant now.

His shields were rattled by the rebel fire from an A-wing that came against his Interceptor. He broke left, and then tried to twist his TIE around to the rebel's AOT, but to no avail. The Rebel had remained on his tail, and was coming in fast. A beep sounded that Zurth was back into the crosshairs for another missile, and had no one that he knew of to save him this time. As the incoming countdown started, he evaded to the left with a break into a barrel roll, but too soon as the missile was still coming.

Aegis seven went into an Immelmann, breaking away as he reached peak distance, but still the missile was coming in fast. Shrapnel had started to bounce against his shield, causing little dings in his shields as he continued onward. Breaking to the left, he yo-yo'ed back around, letting the homing missile follow him back into the cloud of debris. The plan had worked, as Zurth saw the countdown disappear, and a slight bit more of debris were added to the mess. Still, the A-wing was on his tail once more.

Evasion didn't work. Everything seemed to have been countered before it was even done. Scrace needed help.

Cannon fire came from his side, and a craft wasn't visible, but the A-wing was in retreat, but didn't make it far. It burst into a million different components, as a missile collided, breaking through its shields. Zurth looked around, but still didn't see his savior.

"Aegis seven, don't break from me again." Landala had come in for the save, "I can't have my wingman blown to hell."

(Well, might as well do a nice filler)

Raigen's head lay hanging unconscious as his ship drifted further away from the battle. If he were awake, he would be able to see the battle, the suicide ship, Zurth's failed attempt to destroy the fin, but that wasn't the case. Raigen was asleep, still dreaming of the past before the empire, before the hardships, when it was just him and...

Raigen stood at a medium height with his bright blonde hair. He would work on ships in the junkyard from sun up to sundown, And that was the case on this particularly long, Tatooine day. The suns beat down on his back as he crawled in and out of the hulll of the frieghter. The ship was laying cockeyed on the ground and most of the hull had been exposed. Raigen was currently clearing out the interior and welding up the internal frame.

Raigen pulled himself out of the freighter and dropped a large plasteel cylinder on the ground. It was old and gray, with strange markings on the top. Raigen recognized it as Lorellian. A spin off of Gallactic Basic used by pirates. He tried to open the cyllinder but it was shut tight. He used his fusion cutter to break the seal and opened it up. Inside were blueprints of what looked like large triangular ships. Years later, Raigen would recognize them as star destroyers and make several modified versions of the blueprints.

Raigen slowly started to awaken from withen the cockpit. Surprisingly enough, the blast was far enough away to only shake up his ship. The fire came from an old wiring board. Apparently, the tie raigen was using was a left over from the first empire. He would look into it. Raigen pulled out the wiring board and started ripping out wires and replacing them. He managed to get his com system online.

"Jaden, Jaden, Are you there." He asked over his helmet transciever.

"Yeah, Raigen, where were you. We've got a situation on our hands. You can't just drift through space daydreaming." Jaden said. Raigen deserved the chastizing but could't figure out if Jaden was speaking literally during the last post. Not knowing anything about the suicide ship. Raigen took his time repairing the fried wires, cutting some with his teeth to make more resources.

"I got...a little sidetracked. Just don't worry about me ok. I'm fine. So what's going on?" Raigen said as he got his engines online. It wasn't much but it was a start. He ignored the board all together and started connecting the wires directly. He nearly shocked himself as a spark came from his wires. At that, the entire ship powered down. Raigen had to feel for his survival pack and cracked up a glow rod to see with. He had to hotwire the ship, which was convinient enough since he had the wires sitting in his lap. *pzzztzttpttzzzpzztzz* Raigen rubbed the ignition wires together and the entire ship lit up. He connected the last few burnt wires and boosted off toward the battle.

Zurth sticking with his wingman and Academy mate Landala made the battle seem to go a bit smoother. Though his frustration with the failed attempt at cracking the fin open like a scrap of military rations was coursing through his veins, anger at being reprimanded still bulging with the artery in the depths of his neck, he was still pleased. His bloodlust had been getting filled with every passing moment. Three more razors had been taken out, laughter quietly rising within his chest as he watched their components turn to nothing more than space debris. Glowing flickers that quickly went dark with the airless abyss that encompasses all. Great was the pleasure in this. Great was the enjoyment that pain and anguish caused within Zurth Scrace Crin'Doloi.

Another A-wing had zipped by Feris, and barrel rolled in front of Zurth, who immediately open fired with his cannons.

"Zurth, get on his tail and distract him. I will swoop in from the side and take him out."

"Not likely." Zurth hadn't said this in the comlink, but to himself inside of his head. "Affirmative, Aegis six."

His Interceptor pulled hard to the right as the A-wing was only just passing by. Zurth had seen the seams of the missile bay as it crossed over top of his TIE. That child like feeling had begun to come over him once more. He had never seen a rebel craft up that close and personal in one piece. Sure, watching them zip by in a barrel roll, but never with that detail. Never with actually being able to make out the welds and cracks of openings. The feeling didn't last long as Scrace wanted to break open his sugary sweet surprise. Didn't even want to give Landala the satisfaction of destroying this craft. He wouldn't let Feris conquer that battle.

Keeping with what was told to him to do, Zurth had kept his momentum pulling him around to face the raging engines of the A-wing. He watched their glow move farther and farther away before jumping to near full speed. His cannons fired more of a taunt than an attack, near missing the right and left wings. The shots having just bounced off of the outmost portion shields, enough to cause a concerning ripple.

He lurched closer, just enough to bring the distance between them to a smaller lead for the A-wing. Just enough so that he stalked his prey.

It had reminded him of a time when another slave on the planet of Ryloth had tried to steal his meager meal portion. Zurth had let this happen.

+=+=+=+=+=+=+

Zurth watched as the other took the near rotted meat and stuffed it into his cheeks. An attempt to hide it for later, as nothing could be saved when left in any possessions.

The time had come for the kill when they entered the mine two days later. As they were given their digging tools and headed into the darkness of the cave pit. The excavation site. Ryll dust in the air made it not uncommon for a slave to become drugged slightly as he brought the drug from its roots to be made into the valuable product.

Deep within the mine had been the place to strike.  Guards had left the area, having headed to a disturbance on the other side of the pit. A fight that Zurth had made possible by favors that were met. Prices and requests that best go unlisted, as they aren't important to what was on hand.

The time was on hand, and Zurth had to make his move. He snuck up slowly behind the working perpetrator, he had swung the shovel, standard equipment in the musty cave. A sinister laugh had risen up, and burst out as he saw the blood splatter from his fellow Twi'lek.

Startled is what he was when he heard a guard coming back, yelling about the noise, and highly angered because of the fight. He had to move fast, and Zurth did. With the blink of an eye, Scrace had jammed the shovel into a large rock shard on the ceiling of the cave. Right above the neck of the now stirring victim.

With all of his weight, and it had taken him dangling from the shovel and swinging his legs, a boulder fell, landing on the rising body, and closing off that portion of the cavern. The guard rushed even more quickly when he heard the collision of stone upon stone.

"What the hell is going on here?" Even more angry, the guard had struck Zurth to the ground before he could respond.

"He was digging....the roof collapsed."

+=+=+=+=+=+=+

Leading Crewman Crin'Doloi had seen Landala coming in from the side, barely being able to see the wing of the Interceptor, the distance being that great. But with tremendous speed, the craft had come within firing range of a missile. Range for optimum accuracy. He saw as the missile left its place and burst forward towards the A-wing. Target had been locked and it was no time to joke around. If Zurth wanted the glory of this kill, he had to act.

His cannons open fire once again, this time not aiming for the craft itself, but to the right of it. To the side where the missile had been fired towards. The missile moved closer as Zurth kept his craft at speed with the A-wing, watching every single bit of its shaky movement.

The missile came close to the ship, but hadn't hit its mark when it exploded.

"Scrace! What the hell are you doing?"

"This kill is mine."

In an evasion, the A-wing broke left, leaving Zurth behind for just a moment before he pulled to the left, and Feris zipped past. Both were headed towards the craft. This had become a competition. Whose TIE would meet the required speed to catch up and take out the rebel scum?

"Pull away, Feris! This one's mine!" Zurth opened his cannons up, and began firing the energy blasts directly into the tail of the A-wing who was still trying to evade. The ripples were bright on the shield.

"Aegis seven, this isn't a contest." Landala prepped to fire another missile at the A-wing when Scrace had bumped his shield onto Feris' Interceptor's. Landala fired and sent the missile off into the middle of space, no specific target as it just flew outward, finally hitting a cloud of debris and exploding. "Scrace! Back off!"

Full throttle was hit, and Zurth was passing up Feris as he fired his cannons again, finally dropping the shields on the A-wing. He let them cool for just a moment, wanting to be able to get close enough to see the pieces of pilot float away from the concussion, when his chance passed.

Landala overtook Zurth again, pulling ahead and at a better point on the rebel's AOT. With minimal cannon fire, the A-wing exploded. LCRW Crin'Doloi wanted death for his squad member.

"That was my kill!" Zurth had screamed over the com. Everyone could hear, but he didn't care.

"This is not a time to break away from teamwork, Aegis seven." It was Jaden's voice that Scrace heard coming back from his com. "We are a team. We are a squad. Take us and put us separately and no task will get done. Work with your wingman and everything will be within your grasp."

"I understand that sir...but this one was...." A crackle had cut Zurth off. His shields had shorted and began to drop from the seventy percent they were at, and now he was worried. Fourteen percent was not enough protection for a dog fight. "What...What is going on?"

"Get on my tail, Zurth."

Anger hadn't even been in Landala's voice as he told his wingman what to do. No resentment. Just neutrality. Neutrality. This angered Zurth even more. No emotion coming from Feris after the deed was done. Or maybe this had been SCRW Landala's way to strike back. To gloat.

"Affirmative...until I figure out whats wrong. Then you can sit on my tail."

Scrace pulled his TIE in closer behind Landala. If nothing else. It was a shield of sorts.

Jaden pulled the fighter out of the debris as the A-wing exploded in front of him.  The A-wing squadron had now been completely eliminated, and the squadron was split up across the area.

"Aegis leader to all Aegis pilots, everyone form up on my wing.  The shields on the Corvette Valtrex are at 25% from continued support from allied bomber squadrons, and a few hit and runs from Raigen and Zurth.  Our allied Wolfe Squadron will be assisting us on this attack run.  They will drop their load of bombs, taking out the shields and weaking the hull.  Once their run is complete, we will follow them in and attack the Dorsal Fin of the Corvette, causing the reactor to be shut down.  Pilots, we only have a small window to complete this task because the Dreadnaught Vanity is under heavy fire from enemy bombers.  Alpha and Gamma Squadrons have been deployed to take care of the bombers, but enemy squadrons are ripping them to shreads," said Jaden

Jadens fighter did a high yo-yo as he came back around towards the battle.  Tobias, Raigen, and Hunter were now formed up behind him in orderly fashion.  A few seconds later, DJ, Zurth, and Landala were in the formation.  All of the other fighters must have been kept up, because the fighters flew as if nothing could touch them.

"Aegis leader to Wolfe leader, we are ready for the run," said Jaden

Drake came back with a reply, "This is Wolfe Squadron leader, Wolde Squadron is ready for go, coming up on your rear"

Jaden could see the blips form up on the targetting computer as the small attack convoy pressed on.

"Sir, uh, we've got contacts moving in.  Looks like 4 X-wings, and they are coming in from behind to pick off the bombers," said  Tobias

"Heh, looks like we don't have to worry about them," said Jaden, "Delta Squadron is coming in right behind them.  Alright, all fighters and bombers, full throttle, we're coming in on the Valtrex."

Jaden pondered about the entire situation.  With his training knowledge and experience, this mission should have been much easier, but, as it seemed, the enemy pilots were much better and more experience than he had thought before.  Practically Amatuers....

"Wolfe Squadron leader reporting, we are making our run now, bombs away," said Drake

Jaden watched though the small viewport as the glowing blue bombs fell from the bombers and connected with the abdomen of the Corvette as they came over from the rear.  The shields were more than down and the hull had been connected with; which was all they needed to finish off the Corvette.

"Alright fighters, everyone target the dorsal fin of the Corvette and unload your missiles and get those cannons firing, we're going to take this baby down before it even gets close to the Vanity," said Jaden

He quickly brought his fighter to bear on the Valtrex, dodging the auto-turret fire as the small cannons swung around on the corvette and aimed straight at his fighter.

There's no way they can get us all, hopefully everyone makes it through the run in one piece.

Jaden came up under the corvette and shot two missiles at the dorsal fin, damaging it greatly.  He knew it would be all he needed to give in the run, so he veered off and started attacking cannons.  Within less than a minute, the dorsal fin had been damaged very badly, and the captain of the ship was forced to shut down the reactor before an overload, but what happened next was not expected.

"Aegis and Wolfe Squadron, get out of there!" yelled Captain Mikael Skysterov, "The Reactor is overloading and can't be shut down!"

Jaden didn't even attempt to get a word in on the com system.  He rolled the fighter out of the way of the corvette and stomped on the rudder pedal, turning the fighter ever so quickly.  All of the other squadron pilots were yelling in the com system, but Jaden blocked it out.  He needed to live, and for some reason, all he could care about was himself.  So, for once in his life he decided to care about someone else.

"Pilots, if we don't make it, you've all served well.  Now, do your best to get as far away from the Valtrex as possible, or those shockwaves will desintigrate your fighter in less than a second."

Jaden slammed on the throttle, going the complete opposite direction of the corvette.  All cruisers in the immediate area were veering from their courses and running as well.  What was left of the fighters on the Valtrex were attempting to be launched, but they never made it.

The explosion rocked Jadens fighter harder than he expected, sending him spinning off into space.  He could feel the blackness surrounding him as he couldn't handle the g-force, but he held the fighter in position, attempiting to come out of the spin, while attempting to get a message through the com system.

A few seconds later, the fighter quit spinning, but Jaden's head hadn't.  It took a minute or two, but he came around and immediately got on the com system squadron frequency.

"Did everyone make it?" he questioned.

Replies came back from every person, leaving Jaden' with a sigh of relief.

"This is Capitain Mikael Skysterov, the only thing that has been lost was the crew of the Valtrex and two squadrons of X-wings, leaving just two squadrons of A-wings and one Squadron of X-wings out there.  Assault Frigate Existance, Dreadnaught Vanity and Nebulon B-Frigate Anuerysm have taken formation along with us. Interdictor Cruiser Sunbeam, Lt. Mon Calamari Starcruiser Galt, and Nebulon-B Frigate Portray seem to be turning course and running.  We're going to come up on their rear and give them something to think about," said the captain

Another near miss

(OOC note, this doesnt have too much to do with the story itself, but the Interceptor of Zurth's needed fixed. So Zurth needed a post that wasnt really pointful to get it fixed during. So Zurth did this work. Hope you enjoy Zurths work. Heh, 3rd person talking.)

Shrapnel had spread as far as ones closer vision could keep in a complete thought, and the sharp, charred components were only drifting farther and farther apart.  Zurth could have sworn that he saw pieces of pilots, rebel corpses, floating amid the mass destruction, but most would have been turned to space dust, ashes, with the heat of their crafts explosions. Still, the memory could not be changed within his head. He saw the bits and pieces, arms that had held a piece of the controls in its stiff, frozen fingers. It had to have been an illusion caused by the excitement of battle, and the lust for destruction that Scrace had felt.

All of them had coursed through his veins. Every single shot that blew apart a craft, that caused destruction, had been powering his adrenaline. It wouldn't stop. With every inch that was passed up, he felt stronger. He felt hungrier. Everything made the dark spot in his chest grow thirstier for hellish tortures to be unleashed.

Probably another trick of his dreams, but in his mind a reality, as sound doesn't move through the vastness of space, was the screams he heard as the corvette's reactor had given out and caused the massive meltdown that ensued.  His ears had picked up their faint sounds, coming from the rebel fighters caught in the blast, or maybe the large crew of the corvette itself. Something. Something had been heard. Whether trick or truth, it had caused a joy inside of Scrace Crin'Doloi.

All of his daydreaming had been interrupted by the fact he was coming in on the hangar bay. He even had to shake his head inside of his helmet to get the webs out and make himself completely coherent. As his Interceptor hovered, and sounded off loudly as metal contacted with the hangar bay floor, he unhooked his helmet and pulled it off. Under his breath he cursed as one of his lekku was caught on the edge of the plasteel helmet.

His hatch had opened and the bay's crew was ready to assist in finishing the removal of his gear. Just enough that he would be able to exit the craft so it could be repaired. He had to laugh to himself as he made the connection with the mechanics and a royal court bowing at someone's feet. Zurth was the great and grand controller of the universe. The new Emperor of the Imperial Empire...even if no one had known it yet. Even if he hadn't stolen the title for his own at this time. It was all eventual. It had to be. He wouldn't let his life be meaningless.

Helped from his cockpit, Zurth stood before his Interceptor and saw the charred spots where cannon fire had made it through his shields as they flickered in their near depletion. "You were really cutting it close out there, Leading Crewman Scrace."

"Just a diversion so I could kill another rebel." The cold touch of Zurth's voice had stopped the reprimand from the hangar's mechanic. His jaw nearly dropped at the careless disregard from Zurth, for even himself, as long as he had killed his target.

"Your Interceptor will take a few hours to repair and restock." The crewman that was preparing to fix the TIE, or at least work on it, had gulped on his words, "We will com you when its done. I would suggest taking a breather in the barracks."

"I didn't ask for your suggestion."

LCRW Crin'Doloi just walked away with a little smile on his bluish lips. Exhaustion was a bit at hand at that moment, so he made his way towards his bunk. Rest had been needed. He was still green around the tips, and unused to the havoc that is flying a fighter in true combat.

It had seemed like ages before he made it to his bunk. Walking the many halls of the Starcruiser had seemed to make his tiredness come to a head, and he found himself nearly falling asleep on his feet as he crashed onto his bed. The exhaustion got the better of him as he was out by the time his head hit the uncomfortable bunk.

+=+=+=+=+=+=+

His slumber had brought on a deeply seductive dream. Not a sexual fantasy, but a fantasy none the less.

The sight seen deep inside of his head was one of the greatest glory. One of a dream that everyone has at some point in their life or another. A membership in the Dark Jedi Order.

A teal lightsaber crackled to life and sliced down another victim. Three were all ready laying in pieces around the newly fallen kill. The harshness in Zurth's glowing eyes was even more fierce than his normal gaze. His soul was no more, and his skin had taken on a cracked grayish pigmentation. A Sith lord is what his imagination was bringing about.

Possibly a jump in the fantasy brought it all to a point when Scrace was shooting a lightening like electrical current from hands and wrist. It filled a victim with a fierce convulsion. Smoke had poured from their sleeves until their clothing had burst into flames.

He had laughed as he stepped on the skull, crushing it beneath his foot.

+=+=+=+=+=+=+

"Leading Crewman Crin'Doloi. Your Interceptor is prepped for you to return to battle."

Having been startled awake caused Zurth to pull his blaster pistol on the direction of the comlink. "Good. I will be there shortly to launch.

How long had he been sleeping? The wonder wavered in his mind as he had stood on his feet. With only a few shakes of his head the slumbers last effects were gone and he was back on his way. A repeat of his dream, of the Dark Jedi Order, the fantasy of being a stronger Sith Lord than Palpatine and Vader combined filled his mind even more as he neared the hangar.

The char from cannon fire was still there, but everything seemed almost shined as his cockpit opened once more.

"Its ready to launch."

"I know. Otherwise I wouldn't be here." He had scoffed as he passed up the mechanic and climbed into his Interceptor. Zurth knew more blood was there for the taking.

Jaden sat in the fighter calmly as the squadron circled around the Imperial Star Destroyer Debilitator.  The mission had been a stalemate since the last events of explosions of the corvette Veltrex.  Both sides refused to come at eachother, and were a great distance from eachother, but aparently both captains refused to let their fighters land and refuel as if something was going to happen, but nothing had happened for the last few hours.

"Captain, this is Aegis leader," said Jaden, "Whats the deal here?"

It took a long while for the captain to make a report, but he came back with a reply, "We don't have much of a choice here.  We are low on power and most of our cruisers are damaged."

"What kind of tactic is that?" questioned Jaden.

"Chief Warrant Officer Jaden, you will not challenge my decision as your commander and you will follow orders.  There will be a shift change and your squadron will be relieved by Alpha Squadron momentarily, as you will need to have your engines and systems checked.  That is all"

Jaden pulled the fighter around the command bridge as the squadron made yet another pass.  It had been such a bore flying around the ISD for so long, but yet it had to happen, because they couldn't let their guard down.

"Pilots, I know this is taking long, but keep your wits about you, anything could happen at any time"

"Looks like you're right commander," said Hunter, "The enemy is scrambling their fighters and coming straight for us"

"Captain," said Jaden as he switched over to the private frequency, "We could have easily crushed the oposition, so why wait for them to come to us?"

"You are a squadron commander, I suggest you stick to your duties and I will stick to mine, and I will say this once more, but not gain, Do not question my authority!" said Mikael Skysterov

Jaden sat there, as if he had just been slapped in the face.  He immediately switched the com frequency back to the fighter group.

"All fighters, attack the enemy fighters, bombers, make your selected runs on enemy cruisers.  We are going to move in on the Interdictor Cruiser Sunbeam, Nebulon-B Frigate Aneurysm will attack its foe enemy Nebulon B Portray, and, last but not least, the Assault Frigate Existance and Dreadnaught Vanity will be moving in on Lt. Mon Calamari StarCruiser Galt. Get moving Pilots"

"Alright boys, form up.  We're going to take out those fighters so the bombers can make their runs.  The cruisers will do their work and so will we.  Lets get going"

"Roger commander," Tobias confirmed. His scanner data confimed rapidly closing returns off the enemy fighters. The last foray had demonstrated that head on manuevering could be quite hectic, so he got an idea.
"Commander, I'm going to pop up high and drop down on them as blow through the formation."
"Roger Aegis 3, good luck."
"Four, affix yourself firmly to my tail now."
Tobias eased the yoke back into a climb, at least in the sense of vertical travel on the plane between the bandits and the friendly cap ships.
"Ready to flip back over Four...now."
He decreased the throttle until the bandits were almost within firing range of the formation and yanked back to pop the nose over in comfortable postive Gs.
"Hit it."
Tobias flattened the throttles as the throbbing power of the ion engines threw the light fighter forward like a celestial arrow, streaking down as the Interceptors of the main formation slid past the bandits. In all, the manuever resembled a tweaked and elongated Immelmen with a more vertical slant. However, it left the shaken rebel pilots, with deflector sheilds full forward as per standard procedure, exposing their backsides to 3 & 4.
"Middle flight, you take right, me left."
Tobias dove down at full throttle and tore through the unsheilded backside of the amatuer X-wing with a stream of pure energy, sure that the same thing was happening to the dead pilot's wingmate.
"Take the middle Four," Tobias snapped as he cut the throttle and yanked up to drop him back and up of Raigen. On cue, the other X-wing lit up as the pilot had time to pull up the shields. But in several seconds the pilot was overwhelmed and severly damaged, possibly blown up.
"Bloody good work Four, break toward the Interdictor and get clear for another pass. I'm high on your six."

He had heard the whine of his engines as they powered up and he burst forward to join the rest of Aegis Squadron. Zurth assumed that he would just take formation around the Imperial Star Destroyer. He hadn't heard the mission or message from either Jaden or Skysterov. Sleep had overtaken him then, and now, he was ready and roaring, but unprepared. Scrace zipped along, passing over and around the Debilitator, pulling back and making one final gaze across the massive surface before opening up his comlink.

"Aegis one. What are our orders?" Zurth was impatient, even though he had rest. How long had he slept? Even he hadn't known. As soon as it was announced that his Interceptor's repairs had been finished, he was gone from his barracks, and storming to the hangar bay. No time to waist when you have to blow rebels out of the sky. Or space, rather. "I have swept over the Debilitator three times, and no signs of the squad in this area."

The com had crackled to life. They hadn't fixed quite everything. Something as simple as this could have been what started the powering down of his shields earlier. Faulty wiring because maintenance crewman were too incompetent to fix something of that nature. What had taken his attention away from the disdain Zurth felt for the "lesser beings" as he referred to them in his correspondence with another on Ryloth, was the rattle of cannons being fired. More the whir of them powering up the glowing energy shot before letting it burst forth. Jaden's voice came through. "Scrace, get up here with the squadron. We have a mess to take care of."

"Affirmative." No need then to keep with the code of conduct and refer to his commanding officer as Sir. It was battle. You don't want to give away that information as it is when rebel or enemy warriors are on the prowl. The rebels having been on the prowl was meek. Slight at best. But, none the less, they were there getting the hell beaten out of them.

Crin'Doloi had jerked backwards slightly, his Interceptor went forward at full throttle. Rebel cannon fire moved past the TIE as it dodged the accidental shots. They were meant for someone, just not him. He was just barely moving into range at that time. No, the likes of Raigen, or Tobias, Jaden, were the targets for the cannons of those X-wings. But they were now his targets.

The X-wings were moving a lot more smoothly than the A-wings had done. Seemed to maneuver almost as greatly as the TIE's would. A challenge had presented itself. The challenge had become even more real when Zurth's own shields rippled with contact. Thank god the "lesser beings" hadn't messed up fixing those, otherwise Scrace would have only been able to attempt to limp away, or try to hold his breath in the vast depths of space.

His TIE rolled a little to the right, becoming vertical instead of horizontal, before breaking downwards.  The X-wing quickly followed as Zurth remained in a barrel roll, making it hard for any target locking to commence. This wasn't going to be an easy mission for the Rebel.

All the tricks that Scrace had begun to toil through were working to a point. None of the shots fired were able to connect, and no missiles were able to lock on. LCRW Crin'Doloi was truly making his way to being an excellent pilot. Green, but top tier. Maybe even some day an elite caliber soldier.

Barrel roll to the left, and he had broke downward again. Zurth slowed. He had given the X-wings target lock almost enough time to single out his Interceptor before moving into a wide upward spiral. Thats when the proverbial bantha fodder hit the fan.

When Zurth had straightened his TIE out, heading vertical, cannon fire not only came from behind him, but from the side as well. Both X-wings were now on his tail, taking turns ducking behind Zurth in a direct AOT to fire their cannons. The game had been turned around. They were playing with the greenhorn now. Zurth was screwed.

No matter if he finished near the top of his class in the VENA. No matter if he had been jumping in ability since being out in the vastness that is space. None of that mattered now. He was stuck as the chew toy for his equivalent to a rancor. Both X-wings began to fire, and Zurth could only attempt to evade. Many times his shields rippled with the after effects of cannon fire hitting them. Many times he had felt that he was soon to be no more.

Scrace had never been as nervous, or filled with fear as he was now. The visions of grandeur that had filled his mind for many weeks now were slowly crumbling apart. Bile began to climb up his throat, and almost burst into his flight helmet before barely avoiding a cross pattern strike from the X-wings.

A missile somehow locked onto his Interceptor, and the X-wings backed off waiting for their strike to make the TIE explode. These rebels were the real deal and not the slackers that Zurth had once read about on Ryloth. He would have given anything to even be back there right now.

Cannon fire had come from where his attention wasn't placed. His front. Zurth hadn't looked there recently because his problem was never in that direction. It was always on his rear or side. There was something strange about the cannons that had fired from the distance. They weren't rebel energy blasts. An ally had finally come to the rescue. Made even more evident by the exploding X-wing thats concussion shook even Zurth's TIE Interceptor.

"Aegis seven, move to my flank. We'll take out this other X-wing together." It had been Landala. The moving shield for Zurth earlier in this conquest.

Feris shot forward as the X-wing broke away in a retreat now that the odds were against him. Zurth was still dumbfounded, as the missile had disappeared in action. It could have been taken out by the friendly fire, but Scrace was just coming down and not able to reason quite that well yet. Still, he followed Landala, and the two went after the retreating rebel.

Jaden correted his flight path, making sure he would clear the debris from the X-wing that had just been destroyed under his nose.  The ship rocked from a small shockwave from the fighter, cutting his shields in half.  The Hornet Interceptor had been holding up nicely throughout the battle, only taking a few minor shots to the starboard shields and now a major blow to the nose shields.

"Arg," Jaden coughed as the com system crackled to life.  It was Zurth.

"Flight two has just obliterated another two X-wings sir, we are going to make a couple of passes at the Inderdictor and see what trouble we can stir up," said Leading Crewman Scrace.

"Alright seven, but make sure you steer clear of that turbolaser fire, there's a nest of guns on that ship," said Jaden

Jaden adjusted the yoke, bringing the fighter back down behind one of the lone A-wings that was trailing along.  Targetting computer registered half shields and it seemed to be out of missile payload.  Looks like its heading back for the ship, thats not going to happen on my watch...

Jaden adjusted the cannon targetting and then opened up the cannon fire.  The A-wing dove starward, and Jaden adjusted, coming in on the portside of the fighter.  The A-wing pilot seemed fatigued, not really giving much of a fight to give away.  If it's death you want, then I'm here to give it to you.

The shields flashed like crazy before Jaden's eyes, nearly blinding him from the light green bolts being absorbed into the sheilding.  But, with a few more shots, he connected with the hull.  Missiles were no need for this one, it would be an easy kill.  Jaden switched the cannon fire to linked and let a few bursts out.  Right on target.  The A-wing started to combust from the insides and nearly ripped in half, but the pilot managed to eject before the fighter was destroyed.  You'll live to die another day, rebel

Jaden sensed a deep anger within himself, one of hatred and revenge.  It fueled him as he checked for another target to take down.  His rage built up after every ship or pilot he destroyed, making him a better pilot in the running.  He reacted on all emotions, but still thought about the decisions being made.  Some rational, some unrational, but all leading him to his final goal.  Perfection.

Overconfidence had become the prime factor by now for the mistakes made by Zurth. He didn't pay close enough attention to those around him to care about their safety, or performance within the battle, other than when it had become detrimental to his own cause. The selfish cause that it was. But sticking with a wingman was a great provision from The Maker. It had given Zurth an extra shield, which he had learned with experience how to use. As well as give another gun to weaken the fighters and other ships that would be taken down by the Imperial's. He wasn't afraid to sneak in and steal a kill to gain another scratch on the totem of his accomplishments.

The turbolaser fire that had came directly at them wasn't a surprise for Scrace. Maybe he had wanted to bring his wingman Landala into the nests of hell itself. Or maybe he just wanted the biggest challenge possible, taking on a whole Interdictor by yourself. Stupidity was at hand, and Feris knew it. He broke away from the suicide that Zurth was bringing upon them, and flew wide, knowing where to be to get on the Sunbeam's flank and out of the fire. Anger had risen up into Crin'Doloi's veins once again, as he broke away from his path and found himself back on SCRW Landala's flank.

"Aegis six. Why did you break from the attack pattern?" Cool and collected was the sound in the LCRW's voice. In reality, he was dreaming of murder. Watching the blood boil inside of Landala's veins as millions and millions of volts coursed through him. Made him writhe for the few split moments in pain before falling to the ground. Hair and fingernails melted into nothing. "Our course was set directly for our prime target."

"Aegis seven, our course was set straight for our suicide."A bit of anger had made its way through the comlink, and seemed to waiver in Zurth's cockpit. A smile had even crossed the LCRW Scrace's  lips. If he had been in Feris' presence, he would have surely been assaulted by the way his lekku had a slight flicker within them. "Aegis seven, we need to come up from the Sunbeam's rear. We need to attack their coms, then their bridge. And finally their life support. Those systems go down, then we have a free kill."

"You don't think I know that, Aegis six? Am I stupid just because I finished second in our class?" The hostility had been mocked, but Feris didn't know that. Zurth wanted to see if he could fluster his wingman. Maybe have them make a mistake.

"Aegis Seven, I said nothing of the....A-wing on your nine."

Scrace Crin'Doloi looked just in time to see his shields glow as they absorbed the rebel fire. His eyes had widened behind his helmet. Under his breath obscenities had began to flow, in just the right tone the comlink wouldn't pick them up. If Landala had only known what Zurth was saying about him now. "Aegis six. Hit an Immelmann and come down on his top."

Landala had broken away, his TIE taking him straight up into the vastness that is space. Unexpected the A-wing broke away from Zurth and went after Feris. This wasn't the plan. Scrace had figured the rebel would go after the quicker and easier of the kills, but, now seeing what was transpiring, Zurth could get his rebel kill count another click, as well as "accidentally" fire upon Landala. Scrace would do anything to be able to fire upon his wingman...but never would. It would end his chances in this life.

Zurth pulled up to follow the A-wing, which was beginning to close in on his wingman. Scrace wanted to just open up his cannons, but couldn't with fellow squad member in the line of fire. "Aegis six, break away."

Landala got out of the way, and Zurth began lighting up the A-wing's shields. Each shot seeming to grow brighter than the first, but only residing in Scrace's imagination. The A-wing was to quick to move before Zurth could paint him and send an overgrown firecracker right through his shielding. Still, Zurth remained on guard. Before he knew it, more cannon fire was coming down towards him. The battle between him and the rebel fighter had taken him back into precise range for the Sunbeam. "You rebel bastard."

All this time, the A-wing had been pulling him and his TIE into a deathtrap.

He had to get this rebel scum now. If he was going to die, he would do it after he had this bantha's ass floating in space. Zurth followed the A-wing straight into the path of a gun nest. The turbo laser fire from the AA turrets was zipping all around Zurth as he kept on the A-wings tail. A barrel roll made Scrace barely avoiding a blast that would have killed him.

Just as the rebel was moving over the Sunbeam, Zurth hit full speed. He nearly shot past the A-wing as it broke to the left, and swung back towards the death zone. Scrace was bracing to head straight back for the A-wing before it exploded before his eyes. His heart had dropped, because he had wanted to be the one to bring death to the rebel. How ironic that the Sunbeam's own fire had destroyed the A-wing.

"Aegis seven. Back off and regroup." Landala was calling from the distance. "We will make a simultaneous attack on the Interdictor."

Anger was purely what Zurth felt as he moved with haste towards the blip that was Feris. This rebel ship must be destroyed. It must be taken out. Not because of its affiliation. That wasn't the concern of Zurth at all. It was because it had stolen his kill.

One man's suicide for another's homicide. Fair trade, isn't it? Zurth had chuckled as he thought this.
