Shazam, seemingly annoyed by the fact he couldn't get his boot laces to tie in the correct fasion, simply gave up and acknoledged the wave of JMac from his office.  The squadron commander shook out his leg for good measure, as if this would complete whatever spell he'd originally intended and made way for the door left agap.

The pilot slid his hand inbetween the door and its frame and swung it open, ever so gently though so it didn't slam against the wall and knock all the lovely certificates and awards from the almost gloomy box.  However, when Shazam looked up, reguardless of whatever mood seemed to cling to him upon entering, was instantly gone one he got a glance of JMac again.  He seemed pretty excited and appeared to have a slight grin on his face.

JMac put up his hand once more and pointed to the chair in front of his desk, his other hand milling through various folders until stopping on a dark brown one with no title on the tab.  His other hand that had previously hung in the air, awaiting Shazam's approach, was now grabbing hold of the folder and holding it out to the young man.

CWO Shazam had just taken a seat when offered the bundle of papers.  He too grinned, scratched at his head and allowed his hair to set out in a messy due before taking the papers from JMac.

"What's up man?" Shazam said, some butterflys coming to life in his stomach, his eyes patiently waiting on the brown.  The officer took a seat and folded his hands together and shook his head for a moment, reaching for the right way to start.

"Well, it appears that you have finally been granted a solo mission."  the officer was up on the front of his chair, a very proud look on his face.  Shazam's face turned red and he didn't wait for JMac to say anything else.

"Your hard work has finally paid off, and this is your mission, one for your guys.  You won't have to deal with any of the riff raff that goes on during the wing or Navy battles, it will be strictly squadron access with some support from another fighter group.  You'll find all schematics of the territory as well as craft you might come to expect in your mission on the datacard attached to the back of the folder.  I'll be breifing your squadron in three hours time," the officer finished and then stood up.  "Congratulations Cheif," he ended and shook Shazam's hand.  The butterflies in Shazam's stomach seemed to be attacking the sides of his organs, trying their best to make him collapse.

With that, Shazam exited the office, everything a bit brighter than before.  This was most certainly one of the proudest moments and most satisfying he'd ever had in his entire naval career, this was what it was all about...

Nazgul 1 found himself moving right towards Jack's cabin, not really aware of what had just happened.  The journey to the room seemed short-lived, but Shazam really wanted to get this news to his XO.  He was already looking through  the report, the first page describing the type of precautions he had to take with this type of intellegince, which made him even more giddy about the whole thing.  The second page had the actual mission breifing that JMac would give in just a short while, and the page following was covered in co-ords and special code names...  Yes, Shazam was excited, and hopefully everyone would be.  However, with this there were most certainly some expectations that came along with it, so the butterflies wern't just a stirring happiness, but also nerves.

Shazam knocked a tune on the door to notify Jack of his arrival.  Earlier on he'd been told that the wing commander wanted to see him, and he'd let Jack know what was up as soon as he'd seen JMac.

Jack Nebulax, XO of Nazgul squadron, opened the door with a bit of a worrisome glow in his eyes.

"Jese, we arn't getting shut down or anything," Shazam said, walking himself into the small room, Jack closed the door behind him.  The commander didn't hear a sigh, but some kind of relief must have been flooding over him.  Jack was extrmely optomistic in almost any situation, but little things like news from 'the office' got him a little jumpy.  The more you have, the more you have to lose.

"Relax man, we just got our first mission.  JMac's going to be breifing us in about three hours, but I've got the report," Shazam said, waving the folder in the air,"  I'm just supposed to read through it and prepare any questions I might have afterwords."  He paused, holding the folder in both hands, then slapping it against Jacks shoulder.

"I'm fine, just kind of anxious..." he said, nodding off any hesitation there might have been.  Shazam liften an eyebrow, then allowed for a cackle, raising his hands up high and praising whoever would let him do so.

"This is pretty cool, but I suppose we should let our guys know we've got a mission to do." Shazam said, indicating the datapad on Jacks' hip.  He figured it out and put his hand to his side, about ready to get his first 'report to the breifing room in three hours'.  But Shazam slapped him on the shoulder once more and said," Remember this is official business though.  Keep your game face on..."  And Shazam took a seat on the chair in the corner and began to chew on a pen as he slowly soaked in the report...

(Alright guys, this is the part where you tell the people what you've been doing and what your wanting to do.  Your setting it up for yourself, so, anything you want to be in the back of your head, or to be noted, this is the time to do it.  Because the next time, its down to business...)

(OOC: Still need that change on the name)

Jaden spotted Shazam and Jack walking past his room after he got out of the bathroom.  Dressed in his usual outfit of his dark brown cloak, he grabbed a cup of coffee.  It was good, and it really made him alert.  There must be something in the water he thought to himself.

After shutting the door and locking it behind him, Jaden made his way towards the mess hall.  He lifted his cloak over his head, to shadow his face over, because he didn't look to good from the night before.

It was a night of celebration and partying, but Jaden had heard rumor of something else making its way back to Nazgul Squadron.  Things seemed to be running pretty well lately, but the report that Jaden heard of couldn't be a good one.

After entering into the mess hall, Jaden spotted Dirk, Darius, and DJ sitting at a table conversing about different things.  Shazam, Jack, and Arturus were sitting at another table.  Shazam immediately saw Jaden walk into the room, and motioned him over to the table, along with the others.

Shazam had a very serious look on his face, along with Jack.  He pulled out a folder from inside his uniform, and threw it into the middle of the table.

"We have been assigned to a solo mission," Shazam said sternly.  "All by ourselves."

Whispers were heard all across the table as people talked about what Shazam had just said.  He motioned for them to quite back down.

"I know what some of you are thinking.  Suicide.  But thats not what you should be thinking, because you haven't even heard anything about the mission. JMAC spoke to me this morning about it, and told me it would be an easy task for Nazgul, but still a challenge no doubt."

"We will be briefed in a few hours, so I want all of you to be getting your thoughts clear, and getting your composure together."

"See you all at the briefing," was Shazams last words.  Everyone finished their breakfast, and went back to their rooms.

Arturus finished his breakfast quietly and then slowly made his way back to his quarters.  As he walked, he thought back to the scene of their last mission.  Ever since he had flown amongst the smouldering ruins of the city, something had continued to bother him.  That was something frightening familiar about the city, the images played over and over in his head as if he had seen them before.  The tattered red flag of the resistance movement that was half burned and flapping in the wind admist the clouds of smoke plumming from the carnage seemed particularly clear in his memory.

He arrived shortly at his quarters and went in.  Arturus still had a couple of hours so he decided to sit back and attempt to relax, possibly even nap, before hitting the refresher and suiting up.  He had not slept well the last few nights, he had been unable to put his mind at ease over the images.  In the back of his mind, as he played the images over and over in his head, the blurred image of a face emerged admist the smoke, a face from something long ago in his past, a piece of a memory from a period of his life that he remembered little of.  Arturus laid down on the bed and tried to put the images out of his head.  He knew they were significant and they haunted him, but he could not recall why.

After tossing and turning for forty minutes, he got up and took a look in the mirror.  His eyes were dark and heavy, there were black bags under his.  Even his face appeared sunken and deflated from the sleepless nights and the torment of trying to find the meaning in all of it.

"If only I could remember..."  He said softly.  He turned away from the mirror and changed into his gym clothes.  If nothing else would relax him, perhaps a good workout would.  He looked at his left shoulder, the injuries, aggrevated even further from the last mission, had pretty much healed and now it was time to begin working the muscles again to restrength his arm.

Ninety minutes later, after an hour workout and thirty minutes at the firing range, he returned to his quarters and hit the refresher.  When he was done, he threw his gear into his flight back, put on what he constituted as a uniform and made his way up to Shazam's office.  He was curious to know a bit more about the mission before the briefing.  With Nazgul finally returning to solo missions, he wanted to know the fine details of what the squadron was getting into.

Jack was pretty happy Nazgul had finally gotten their own mission for once. After learning about the mission, Jack headed over to the simulators by himself. He needed a little extra target pratice.

Along the walk down the corridors to the simulator room, he saw many Imperial officers working and doing their buisness. They seemed very dedicated. That was good.

The Vast Empire needs new, more dedicated people nowadays, Jack thought to himself. "Keep up the good work, men," Jack said to the officers working along. One got up and turned around.

"Thank you, sir," he said and saluted before going back to his buisness, which Jack did not know of.

He eventually made it to the simulators and set it up to have a squadron of X-Wings and six A-Wings fighting him. Jack set it up so that he was alone, faced with a dozen and a half enemy starfighters.

"This should be interesting," Jack mumbled as he started the simulator.

Jack was piloting a TIE Interceptor in the simulator. He caught sight of three X-Wings. Pushing the control lever to the maxium, he headed off to deal with them.

One was down when seven X-Wings and two A-Wings appeared behind him. Using a corkscrew manuever, he got them clear into his sights. The two A-Wings were dust, along with four of the X-Wings.

But suddenly, out of nowhere, an A-Wing paired with a X-Wing shot off one of his TIE Interceptor's solar pannels. He turned crazily, spinning toward the enemy snubfighters.

Then, two more TIE Interceptors joined the battle. Shazam and Jaden had just joined in.

"Let's kick some Rebel butt!" Jaden said, enthusiastically.

"Glad you guys could make it," Jack said, trying to handle his dying Imperial twin ion engine starfighter.

While Jack regained control, Jaden and Shazam knocked out the remaining fighters. The battle was over. The simulator shut off, and Jack returned to the real world, surrounded by two of his friends and squadronmates.

"Ready for the mission?" Shazam asked.

"You bet," Jack said with a grin on his face. He couldn't wait for this.

After finishing with breakfast, Jaden came back to his room, and talked with Fonze for a bit.  The droid didn't aprove of the things that were happening right now, but he was a tin can.  He had no say of the things that were happening in the Vast Empire.  After babbling on and on, he let out a low whir, and stopped his complaining.

"Good man Fonze, thanks for givin me your two cents," Jaden said, taking some medication from all of the beeps and boops he had just got done listening two for the past hour.  Jaden packed up his things for the mission.

After all of the supplies were in his duffle, Jaden switched into his flight suit.  The Teflon on the inside of the suit kept him warm as he zipped it up.  His long black boots fit perfectly on his feet, and went up almost to his knees.  He grabbed his helmet, and hooked up the respirator.  After putting his helmet on, and swinging the respirator over his shoulder, he left his room with the supplies.

Arturus looked like he was in a hurry to get to somewhere, so Jaden quickly caught up to see what he was doing.

"Art, where ya goin?" asked Jaden

"I'm heading up to Shazam's office to see what information I can get about the mission before breifing. You wanna come with me?"

"Alright.  I have all of my things packed anyways.  Lets go"

The two of them made their way to Shazam's office, walking very quickly and professionally.  Art knocked on the door a few times before entering, and Shazam said come on in.

"Well, what would you two be doing here before the mission.  It's still an hour before briefing."

"We have come to get some more info on the mission before breifing.  So we have a better understanding of what is going on," replied Art.  "Jaden came with me to see what was up."

"Yes, I would like to know some more things also," requsted Jaden.

"Well, I can give you guys all the intel I know.  It's a little more detailed then what you are going to get in briefing, so don't fall asleep when we get there.  You guys know the basic idea right?"

The two men responded with a "Yes Sir" at the same time.

"We are going to Dubrillion.  It is a small planet just inside our forces," and with that, Shazam kept telling them things about the mission.

(OOC: Someone else can incorporate those things, I have something to do)

(Alright, mission time...)

"Basically, its this beach type planet where we get a bunch of resources from.  No rebellions or anything, in fact, I think the people are quite content with us there..."  Shazam said, putting his hands up and lifting his shoulders into a shrug.

"So..." prodded Jaden, having taken a seat in the corner of Shazam's little cubicle like room.  Shazam cleared his throat and continued on, Art just now noticing he was the only one standing sat in the seat closest to the desk.

"Recently," the leader continued," theres been some interesting drops in supplies, well, resources from Dubrillion that is.  We got a little suspicious, starting keeping tabs on people, and eventually we managed to pick up a shuttle that heads out away from the planet about once a month.  We tracked it and follwed with a few scouts that were cloaked out pretty good.  Well...  Apparently, that shuttle, has been passing on codes to the planet, or atleast we're assuming thats whats going on, because our resources havn't been going to us.  Yea," he said sheepishly," the rebels have ben taking our crap from right under our noses..."  He finished, leaning back in his chair now, twirling a pencil innocently.

Art rubbed his chin melancholy, an 'OK' forming on his mouth as he did so.  "Right then," now staring back at Shazam,"What are we doin then?"

Shazam slapped the desk and sat upright again.  "Of course, well," opening up the folder," we'll be taking some interceptors out, equipped with shields, thats standard now," he chuckled, he'd just slid the brown across the table towards Art.

"And we're escorting who?" he asked, noticing the fine bold lettering in the breifing report.

"Uh, that's the second objective there bud..." said the young man who had been sitting next to him preivously," yup...  CAPTURE," he began in clear wording as if teaching an infant, but Art pushed him off and waved his hand for him to leave him.  'I CAN READ' said his face...

"Okay, capture designated ship 'Sienar', what's the Sienar?"

"Lambda Class Shuttle, the same ship thats been meeting with the rebel folk outside the planet.  So, we're going to ambush the little buddy, take its crew hostage, and give fake codes to the rebels, further leading them to demise.  That friggen rocks doesn't it?"  Art replied with a nod, and Jaden was now looking through the coords, his eyes rumaging around the map.  Shazam stole both of the reports away from them and put them back together.  "Right, we've got about a half an hour until the breifing, I'll see you there.  I've got to go a little early and discuss stuff."  And with that, he was off...

Briefing Room- A half hour later or so...

JMac was sitting confortably in his chair, spinning around, thinking no one was looking.  He was confronted though, with the stern powerful hand of Shazam, who clung to it and and stared at him as if to say 'What's up!?"

"Whadya need?" he said, folding his hands and lifting one leg to form a T on top of the other.  "The report I gave you wasn't too confusing was it?"

Shazam grinned and said," No, but I just hope that the guys will be able to comprehend what your saying.  I've only done training missions like these, and everything might get real messed up if they don't know what they're doing..." He leaned up against a side panel and liften an eyebrow.

JMac uncrossed the leg and replied," My friend, you have nothing to worry about.  You men arn't in any real danger unless they make the danger.  So, keep your head on straight and make sure your eyes don't cross, and you should be fine.  This mission is about as good as you can get for a first solo mission.  I garentee you, that as this career of yours, goes on...  It'll get a whole lot tougher..."  And with that, he swiveled around in his chair some more...

Beginning of Breifing-Very soon after...

JMac began the breifing-

"Welcome all Nazgul Squadron members who are present.  Today, our subject is a very serious one.

Lately, one of our listening posts just outside of the planet of Dubrillion has been picking up some odd transmissions.  They have been coming from some of our own craft, directed straight to a group of unidentified aircraft.

About a week after the transmissions, we lost contact with the listening post, and started to get suspicious.  We quickly dispatched a small squadron of recon Tie Interceptors.  They scanned around orbit, and found something very out of the ordinary.

An Imperial Lambda-Class Shuttle had met up with several Alliance cargo transport crafts.  We quickly got the ID from the shuttle, but missed getting the cargo transports IDs.

We could no longer track the shuttles through hyperspace, so we had no idea where they had gone.  Our Tie Interceptors stayed outside of orbit, scanning the area for other incoming traffic.  They found nothing else.

We forgot about the place for a while, then turned our attention back to it a few weeks ago when our recon team picked up a convoy of about 30-40 Rebel aircraft.  There was a bulk amount of cargo transports, being escorted by 2 squadrons of X-wings.  The Interceptors quickly engaged, but were defeated with ease.

The transmission we picked up from out Tie Interceptors states that they were hypering to the Hydian Way, then meeting up with their fleet on another small trade route just outside of Coruscant.

We quickly reported this to the higher ups, and got a message back just about a week ago.  They are ordering us to deal with the problem in our own way, because they are currently dealing with disputes of their own.

A few days ago, we tracked the Lambda-Class shuttle on it's hyper route.  It will be arriving from the Hydian Way in just a few days, and we are going to intervene.  We believe the shuttle is going to be exchanging more codes to the Alliance so they can cleanly enter the planet without the main Imperial Factions noticing about it.

The mission is going to be very quick, and clean.  Make the window in between your objectives very small.

Once the Lambda-Class Shuttle, which we have designated Sienar, jumps in, we are going to deploy our fighters.  The Sienar is being escorted by a small squadron of Tie Interceptors.

Dreadnaught Vanity is going to jump in right behind Sienar, and launch a boarding craft.  Nazgul Squadron will be dispatched to take the position of the escorting Tie Interceptors.  Once the Interceptors have been taken care of, the boarding craft will board Sienar, and capture it.

Once the Sienar is under our control, Nazgul Squadron will escort the shuttle to it's designated meeting with the Alliance Cargo Craft.  Then, the Vanity will move to its hyper point, and jump out on the signal.  To our advantage, there is only one Squadron of A-wings assisting the cargo crafts this time.  We have equipped the Sienar with a transmission jamming device, so that the Alliance will not be able to call for reinforcements.

Once at the designated meeting point, our officers on the Sienar are going to give the Alliance fake Identification codes.  Those will be sent away immedietly, but once the codes are compromised, the Vanity will jump right in front of the convoy, and launch several boarding and disabling craft.  The Sienar will hyper out at that time.

Once all of the cargo transports are disabled, the boarding parties loaded with our commandos will be loaded onto the cargo craft.

Nazgul Squadron will guard the Vanity while it spills out a squadron of Tie Bombers, then they will protect it until it hypers back out.  After all is clear, all attention will be turned planet-side.  Nazgul Squadron will destroy  two..." he paused to move to the overhead he'd placed up earlier," storage facilities not our own.  We believe these have weapons that could endanger our commandos.  Yes, they are going in to capture the bad guys.  So, you guys will be continuing to protect both the ship and its personall once planet-side.

After the commando's have finished their job, that is capturing the commanding officer at Merska Airbase in the southeast area here," he guestured to the map," and taken control,  they will be taken back off of Dubrillion to their hyper point.  Nazgul Squadron will escort them until they have reached safety.  At that point the Vanity will jump back in, collect Nazgul and hyper back out.

As I said before, it will be a quick mission, in, and then out of there.  I will once again highlight the objectives for you.

Sienar captured,  meeting secured/sabotaged, planet side attacks, commandos retrieved,  everyone makes off planet back home safely.  And thats about as espionage as you kids need to get...  Good luck." JMac ended the breifing and met Shazam to shake his hand and his mens' as well.

(Alright, get ready!!)

Darius just walked into the briefing room.  He looked like had a hard night because he came in with his hair uncombed and his uniform wrinkled and not even completely buttoned up.  As the door slid shut, a woman walked by looking in the same condition.

He calmly walked in and gave the leading officers a brief solute and explained himself.  "Sorry I'm late guys.  I had others matters that I was attending to."

Shazam just stared at him.  He was obiviously not pleased with this particular member of Nazgul.  Darius continued, "So, did I miss anything?"

JMac replied, "you missed everything.  Now sit down Cadet and ask one of your more organized flight members to explain the whole situation to you later."

JMac finished the briefing and dismissed Nazgul.  Shazam approached Darius, "I need to have a word with you now!"  They walked down the corridor and into Shazam's small living quarters.  He began to lecture, "How could you be late to the meeting!.  We finally get a solo mission and you come late to the mission detail.  I didn't expect this from you cadet.  Now I'm gonna personally escort you to the training quarters, and you are going to do a little conditioning.  Then your going to be drilled on the flight sim.  Now march!"

The exited the room and Darius told himself that he never be late to another meeting again.

Jack had just left the briefing room when he saw Shazam and Darius walk off. Shazam seemed angry. Jack remembered when he was fairly new. Jaden walked over to Jack. He was apparently reading his mind.

"Did you see that deal with Darius being late?" Jaden asked.

"Yeah, unfortunately, I did. Poor guy. Anyhow, back to the subject of our mission: Dubrillion. I got some extra datafiles from my R2 unit on past Rebel cells on the planet. Traitors to the Empire, mainly. Dubrillion is where they "prepare" to join the Alliance," Jack finished up.

"Wow, that's a lot," Jaden began, noting the datacards that Jack held in both his hands, "for that large amount of datafiles."

"That's not the half of it," Jack replied.

"Well, I guess I'll see you again later in the docking bay. We'll kick some Rebel ass later on," Jaden said before leaving.

Just then, R2-X7, Jack's personal R2-series customized astromech droid, came rolling up.

"What is it, Artoo?" Jack asked unknowingly.

R2 whisled for a minute. Jack still couldn't understand until the little droid gave out a few more beeps and buzzs.

Jack finally understood. He bent down to his astromech droid.

"No, Artoo," he began, "You're not coming on this mission. I wish you could. You know an aweful lot more than any other droid, that's for sure, but no. The answer is no."

The little astro droid swivled its dome back and forth. He let out a long series of moans and almost-cries.

Jack let out a sigh. "Come on, Artoo. Let's go back to the room. I have a mission to prepare for."

DJ234 saw shazam walk past him without even saying hello. "wow he must be really angry", "wonder what Darius did to make him like this". "well i wont ask him yet" "thats the best idea you've had for a while DJ". Turning around he saw Jack walking to him with his R2 unit following closely behind.
"Hey jack all ready for the mission", "ya it should be fun".

"Whats wrong with ur R2 Jack he looks pretty down". "Well to tell you the truth he wanted to come but he couldn't and now he is all upset about it" "well Jack i cant help you there but try and make him feel better". "See you later"

Heading back into the room he saw a Holo-Pad with the information of what to bring. After reading it all, it was a long list. I went over to the cabinet and started to pack. "well I really dont need that other blaster its only a simple mission what could go wrong". Putting the blaster away  i also noticed the chain i got form my home. "always have a good luck charm with you".

"better go to the Hanger and do a systems check with my Tie it could use it. Stepping out of the cockpit i noticed Jaden walking by. "Jaden where are you going". "I am going to my room ", "hey how much time do we have left". "Umm a few hours why do you ask", "Just wondering".

Well might as well go to the Simulators and get ready for the trip who know's what we might face it is full of rebels so there might be some resistance.

(Thats good guys, that's what I want out of you, put some personality into your people, it really makes the story...)

"Again..."  the cold voice whisped off of Shazam's lips like ice rollin down an incline...  Darius let his head hang to the side for a second, he didn't dare talk back for fear of severe retaliation.  He hadn't at all expected this type of back fire when he walked into the room late, and he also hadn't seen how awesome Shazam thought the whole thing was.  There was no way his commander would drill him a couple of hours before his first solo mission, fatigue was no way to ready your pilots...

"I said...  Again."  Darius stared up at him, allowing his head to straighten as well as his body.  Emboldened by his cadets apparent loss of energy, he decided to let it go on for only a little longer.  As Darius began to crouch into the simulator, Shazam caught the door with a strong hand and re-opened it to let the light shine in on his newest man.  "Do that again, and you'll be doing more than drills..."  then he left.

Shazam didn't look back as he moved to the door, his point was made and the man would be very sharp for his mission.  There was nothing better than to bustle your people, but then allow for recover for pre-mission warmups...  Your frustrated, everything seems lost and nothing works, but then you take a break, and all of the sudden your lightning quick, lighter than air and fast as the wind.  Adapt like water, thought Shazam for a breif moment, still slightly upset about a slight screw-up on the first mission.  JMac didn't seem happy about this new guy, but Shazam did see a little potential, and decided to play hard up against Darius.  It was the only way he'd be at all good, he finished with his thoughts on the squadron member.

"I think I'm just going to unwind real quick," replying to whatever Jack had just said to him coming from one of the nearby rooms.  His head hadn't been up, but he heard something, so he replied with an answer that would help out whoever spoke.

"Cool, I'll be at the simulators, get used to the controls, then I'll probably get something to drink and relax too..." he said, finishing the conversation.  But after a few paces, widening the distance between them, Shazam walking awkwardly off to somewhere while Jack was upright and striding to the sims, the XO suddenly turned-

"Actually..."  he said, putting up his hand and letting one finger hand valiantly in the air for a moment.  "Can I read through that report?  You said there was some stuff in there that wouldn't be revealed in the breifing..."  A begging look had taken full on his face...

Shazam paused, his finger to his temple, attempting to loosen up a bit, then he glanced back up and slid the folder inbetween his arm and chest, almost forgot he had it, and handed it to Jack.  He waved him off and continued down the hall.  His guitar would help him out, allow some of the anxiety to come to its avenue for escape...

(My next post we'll be getting underway with the mission.  You guys are doin real good, keep it up, I like the way this is goin...)

Arturus left the briefing room and made his way down to the officer's lounge.  Once inside, he sat down in a corner booth in the back and ordered a coffee.  The waiter came back a minute later with the coffee a moment later.  Arturus sat back and began to run through the last mission in his head, paying careful attention to all of the details and comparing them to the visions he kept seeing from his past.  Suddenly, he was startled out of his thoughts.

"Corran!"  Taylsha shouted at him.  Arturus shook his head a couple of times and looked across the table at Taylsha who was sitting there with another cup of coffee.  "You alright?"  She asked, her face filled with a combination of concern and frustration.  Arturus nodded and finished his coffee.  He stared at her sort of in a trance for a moment then blinked his vision clear.

"You ever feel like you've seen something before and can't place the context around it to find out what it means?"  He asked of her.  The lieutenant raised her eyebrow for a moment and stared at him rather stunned.

"You mean like deja vu?"  She asked.

"Something like that.  Only in this case, it feels more like a prophecy coming true than something I dreamed coming true.  Something I saw on the last mission, its exactly like something was described or shown to me before in my life, I'm just not sure what."  He explained.

"Well think back to your past, what did you do before you joined the Empire?"  She asked.

"I was a smuggler for a while, but I don't seem to recall anything like this from my time as a smuggler."  he replied.

"And what did you do before that?"  She pushed.

"I...I'm not sure."  He replied slowly.

"What do you mean you're not sure?"  Taylsha demanded.

"I don't know dammit!"  Arturus replied and slammed his fist on the table.  He put his head in his hands for a minute and took a deep breath to relax.  Taylsha put her hands on his and slowly pulled them down.  Once his face was revealed she gave him a kiss and smiled.

"Sorry."  She said.  Arturus nodded and smiled back.

"Don't you have to be on duty soon?"  He asked as he looked into her deep beautiful brown eyes.

"In about ten minutes."  She said after looking at her watch.

"Make sure you're on time, last thing either of us needs is for the brass to start cracking down on our relationship.  The empire doesn't like women in the forces, ones sleeping with male officers won't help that much."  He advised.  She gave him another kiss and stood up.

"Don't worry, they're understaffed as it is, my superiors just look the other way."  She said with a grin before departing.  Arturus looked at his watch and saw that a full hour had passed.  He threw some credits on the table and left to rejoin the squad for the final update before mission launch.

(Doin good guys, I'll get this thing underway for you...)

Shazam, now suited up and equipped with a blaster pistol and a few other acceseries about him that were supposed to be 'unauthorized'...  But who actually paid attention to those, he sat there and thought, because theres no real way the could tell what anyones really doing around here, and they're way more up tight than they used to be.

"What're you shaking your head about?" asked DJ from the corner, he was chewing on something and had his helmet at his side.

"Oh...  Uh, nothing, just thinking..." Shazam replied back in the cramped little booth at the end of the ship.  A subtle boom sounded against the walls and soon escaped the ears of those hearing it, for the door in front of them greeted them with an opening.  The dreadnaught 'Vanity' had just docked with them and was currently allowing entrance, the naval pilots were stepping through the bridgeway, attempting not to step on eachothers feet.  At the end of the short hallway was an officer in full uniform, happy to see some guest, and he was waving them down.

"Howdy, i'm Shazam and..." holding his hand out to the loyal band of followers," this is Nazgul Squadron."  A fleeting glimpse  might have caught the grin at the announcement of his group...

"Very good, well, I'm 2nd Lietenant Cruek, and if you'll follow me, I'll show you to the hanger bay." he smiled pleasently and began moving briskly down the hallway.  Nazgul Squadron followed as best they could, but the hallways to the dreadnaught seemed good for only two to three people at a time, so everyone was kind of struggling for a good foot hold and some actual fresh air.  Ahead of them, Cruek was still speed-walking, encountering no personell at all, while somehow, the group behind him was stalled by some menace that figured he'd take a break and walk out the door next to him.  Yes, Shazam was a little frustrated, so it really wasn't that bad, but it just seemed to be getting warmer in there, and everyone was raising there voices...

"SHUT," taking a breath," UP!"  The entire group fell silent, the leader completely oblivious to whatever they ere talking about.

"Here you are," said the officer, beaming at how clean he managed to get this particular part of the ship for the squadron.  This ones been in space for too long, thought Shazam upon passing him and making his way to the VE TIE Hornet Interceptors provided.  OH yes...  This was the real upside, getting to fly...

Jaden claimed one for himself as DJ yelled out his own proclomation on top of his fighter.  Dirk was being very quiet, absolutely unnoticable, as far as Shazam was concerned after actually seeing him for the first time in the last day or so.  He didn't even recall seeing him in the meeting, but he knew he was there.  Sneaky little guy...

"We'll be coming out in about twelve minutes, so be ready," announced a man dressed in fine black and white, dark protective glasses shielding half of his face.  Shazam acknoledged this with a nod and made his way for a TIE on the far left.

Jack sprinted past him and started spanking his butt while attempting to gallop in a triumpant fasion.  Art was shaking his head, jogging next to him and patting something he had on his side, then pointing his fore finger at him.  'Yes, that's for you' he seemed to word, and Jack's happy face turned into a maloncholy face, he was running backwards and almost got cut down by the wing of his own fighter.

Just outsides of Dubrillion-10 minutes later...

"Guys, keep quiet, and always watch, don't let things surprise you.  Stay on the look out, you never know on these type of missions," said Shazam, a tone of 'and I would know' seemed to be well attached to it...  "Alright, check-in, report any malfunctions or anything of the sort, directly to me..."

In the corner, the hanger control room was busy with officers running from one console to the next, double-checking everything.  This was a really simple mission, and failure would be really embarresing to them, and punishment meant another six or so months of nothingness, squandering thier time in space...

"And that's it," said Jack, he seemed very cheerful although he'd just received about five death threats from Art.  Jaden kept talking about how he wanted to get back and have a nice hot cup of Java, he was already thirsting for another although he'd had alteast four in the last half an hour.

"Jaden, you did use the refresher, right?" querried Shazam, just realizing the after effects of that particular beverage.

There wasn't an answer for a moment, then a wry and lowly, " Yeeessssss...."

"I'm not kidding man, if you get out there and you gotta go, its ganna suck, so don't be lying..."  There was another similar answer to this comment, and Shazam left it at that.

Directly to thier left though, everything had turned black and stars had turned into white dots instead of bright lines.  The order came through for "Nazgul Launch' across the com and a series of lights were going off, to maybe catch the attention of those who could pay any of it...

"Lets ride..."

(This is your part guys, lets do this...)

(OOC: I tend to use the refresher from time to time, but I don't wash my hands :P)

Jaden grabbed the stick as the hanger doors opened.  The large planet of Dubrillion shown out of the hanger.  It's islands were scattered out amungst the large amount of water on the planet.

"The Sienar just jumped in.  Nazgul is clear to go," came Crueks voice through the com.

Within seconds, the 8 fighters emerged from the hanger, shooting out like bullets.  They aerodynamic superiority of their fighters was awesome.  They pierced the black space as they headed for the Lambda Class Shuttle Sienar.

"Lets go boys," said Shazam

They formed up in a diamond formation, and headed straight for the Sienar.  Once they were about 4 klicks away, Jaden came on through the radio.

"Sienar, surrender your craft and prepare to be boarded."

"We will stay loyal to our commanders.  We will not succumb to your forces."

"I guess thats the way you want it.  Nazgul, form up.  We are taking them down the hard way.

The opposing interceptors broke from their escort formation and started flying towards Nazgul Squadron.  The battle had begun.

Nazgul broke from their formation, and started picking off the enemy fighters.  Nazgul's Interceptors were equipped with shields, so the enemy's fighters had no match.  The laser blasts ripped right through their hull.  They were sitting ducks.

3 of the fighters had easily been taken out.  The remaining fighters were swinging around by the shuttle again.  The shuttle was aparently prepping to jump into hyperspace out of the fight.  This could not happen.  Shazam gave the signal for the boarding craft to immediately dispatch.

Jaden swung around where the enemy fighters had just came by.  He equipped his mag pulse a shot it right out by the enemy ship.  A few more pulses were just enough to take the systems of the Sienar out.

The boarding craft quickly latched onto the Sienar, and unloaded the boarding party to take it over.

The enemy interceptors were almost all gone now, just 3 left.  They were trying to manuever their best, but could not get out of the clutches of DJ and Darius working together.  The new pilots proved to be more experienced then some that had come through Nazgul Squadron.  They were raw potential, and just needed to use their energy and get experience.  They would be a great deal to Nazgul Squadron.

Shazam and Art broke the 3 fighters apart.  DJ chased after one while Shazam and Art followed him, attacking the fighter.  Darius took another fighter, while Jaden, Dirk, and Delirium chased the other down.

The fighters were all taken care of.  The repair craft had just been dispatched an was making its way to repair the Sienar, so that they could make it to the meeting with the Alliance.  The codes had been found, and the crew aboard the Sienar had been taken prisoner.

*****

"Jason, get these prisoners over there had have them placed on their knees.  They need to be exposed of."

"But Sir, we have direct orders to not execute them.  Straight from Lieutenant Cruek."

"I don't care what he thinks.  He will approve of this."

The trooper placed his rifle barell at the back of the dark haired mans head.  The man was very calm, and closed his eyes softly.  Just as the officer was pulling the trigger, his rifle was snapped out of his hand, and the officer now had the gun at his own head.

"Don't make any moves or I kill this man," said the dark haired man.  "Move to the back of the shuttle, and stay there," he commanded.

The troopers moved to the back of the shuttle.  He jumped out of the way, and came to the docking bay of where the boarding party had latched on.  He jumped in the bay, and closed the door, shoving the officer back into the shuttle.  He pressed a button, and the vessel disconnected from the Sienar.

The dark haired man grabbed a com that was on the vessel and switched the frequency over.

"This is Panos.  I'm on my way planet side right now.  Get some things together.  We have a big problem on our hands...."

"Well done guys, Jack, form up on my wing, and Art, form up with the new guys..."  Shazam was pretty happy about what just happened.  They just completed an actual objective...  ON THIER OWN?!  Friggen right, and we're going to do this thing without a single problem, decided Nazgul 1.

"Can do," answered Art, he seemed to be a bit distracted when they were in the hanger, but once he started flying he seemed to be able to focus a whole lot better; the guys got a lot on his mind, but he's still smooth, Shazam said to himself as Art skillfully manuvered behind the two rookies.

"Nazgul, you are to capture the incoming ships that should be arriving within the next few moments, good luck..."And they were gone.  Only a minute after, as if on cue, the ships were there.

In the darkness, they seemed imaculate, perfectly sharp and absolute in every where: powerful.  Shazam had come to respect this image in only a moment, but the ardent look in his eyes as they arrived was almost immedietly interupted by the sound of rebel voices.

"This is the cargo craft Vatigan.  Send your data now, Seinar..."  Man, this is quick, I thought there would be some kind of greeting, like...  'Hey, how you doing bud,' or 'havn't seen you for a month..."  Basterds...

"Data sent, you are good to go Vatigan..." ended the man who had been sent to act as much like a rebel stiff as possible.

Still gleaming in space, the cargo craft began to head towards the planet, very quietly and seemingly satisfied with thier codes.  Alright, continued Shazam, they should have sent those codes away by now...

"Nazgul commence attack," ordered Shazam, barelly taking notice of the A-wings ahead.  In the backround noise of the hornet interceptor, he heard the Sienar activate its jamming device.

The A-wings had been moving away contently, sure their job was finished when suddenly aware of eight new bogeys...  Shazam hadn't even bothered to move towards the cargo craft yet, it would take them long enough to actually get into planets tracking systems.  In fact, thought Shazam, upon closer inspection, it appeared that the Vatigan was completely unaware of the fact that the hornet interceptors were moving in on the A-wings.

The red of the craft made him shiver, it was about to be very cold for the men in those ships...  "Engage," said Shazam, pretty at ease with what was going on, his taut muscles were still clutching the controls though.  The A-wings were only at about fourty-five percent, which was still reasonably quick because they are, after all, A-wings.  However, that wasn't too quick for the interceptors, because they were on them before anyone had time to think...

*The Boarding Craft*

Off in the distance, circling around the planet of Dubrillion, was a small craft, zooming along and trying to find its home.  On board though, things wern't so peaceful as the empty space surrounding them.

Tristan, the highly advanced rebel pilot who had unmistakably taken down three men and in his wake left two dead, this in under twenty-four seconds.  Now, if your going to make a boarding craft to capture people, you better be well armed and have enough men to take on those your trying to capture, and this boarding craft did.  However, the men they were fighting were highly trained mercenaries, qualified for the exact mission given to them.

In the side passage of the ship, the actual ship security had finally arrived and one of Tristan's friends, who'd been released immedietly, was flying the craft towards a designated target zone.  Yep, they were getting thier crap, which includes money, and getting the hell out of there.

"Lars, dammit, get us landed, our window won't be open for long..." said Tristan, had closed the door to the cabin immedietly there after and spun to meet the challenge of four armed guards.

Four feet, two feet, no feet...  Tristan was imbetween the two in front and had thrown them against the walls on either side, allowing him to bring his arms up in one smooth motion, easilly taking the pistols from thier holsters and allowing for a plain sight into the two heads of the couple in the back.  There was a blast and Tristan had again turned, this time using the butt of his guns against the back of the front guardsmens' legs.  Each on one knee, he used the bottom of the pistols once again but on the back of thier heads now.  Four more down, one more and I've got a dozen, he chuckled...

(Excellent job guys, have some fun now...)

"Break wide and cut back in."  Arturus ordered his two rookie wingmates as two A-wings raced in from behind on their position.  Arturus broke hard to the left and began evasive manuvers to shake off the two enemy fighters.  The two Nazgul pilots broke wide and pulled in behind the two A-wings who followed Arturus instead of them.  The two rebel fighters open fire from a quickly closing range causing Art to quickly run out of room to manuver.  "Fire on them dammit!"  He shouted as he pulled up hard just seconds before a series of blasts passed within inches under his fighter.  The two rookies openned fire on the rear of one of the two rebel fighters crippling it badly before forcing it to dive away.  The second rebel fighter openned fire again on Art, this time striking a hit on his lower right wing as he tried to barrel roll to the left.  Arturus dove down and pulled hard to the left before his fighter shook violently as the rebel fighter behind him exploded.  "Nice shooting you two."  He said over the commlink.

The three formed up and raced back towards the rest of the squadron.  Both of the rookies had to slow down as Art's fighter had lost a bit of speed from the hit.  As they approached the main battle, Arturus fired a pair of quad bursts into the back of the crippled A-wing, finishing it off and sending the pilot out into a bitter death in space.

"Spread out and keep alert."  Art ordered as the three neared the battle where a couple A-wings were still alive and causing Nazgul to earn its money.  The three fighters raced in behind an A-wing who was on Jack's tail.  Jack was engaging one of the sole remaining A-wings while trying to shake the stubborn one off his tail.  "Pull in tight and engage when in range."  Arturus ordered.  He switched some more power into his engines to try and accelerate back to combat speed.  The fighter must have damaged part of the engine's power system.  He thought as the fighter slowly accelerated back to its standard combat speed.

The rebel fighter fired another burst at Jack and pulled off quickly.  The two rookies broke off immediately to give chase.  Both of them pulled to the right hard and followed the A-wing in its sharp climb.  Arturus paused for a second and then broke left to cut off the rebel.  As he did, another A-wing blew past quickly behind him and pulled up behind the two rookie Nazgul pilots.  "Enemy on your six, I'm on him."  Arturus said over the comm.  He continued his manuver and quickly appeared infront of the A-wing the two Nazguls were chasing.  He pulled up to avoid its fire and let it and the two Nazguls pass.  The other rebel A-wing wasn't as fortunate.  The second he was cleared of his wingmates, Arturus unleashed a barage on the unsuspecting rebel.  Before the pilot had time to react, Arturus had hit it with three quad bursts, eliminating the fighter's shield and sending it diving away, pieces of material flying everywhere.  Arturus slowed down a little bit and followed in behind the damaged rebel, finishing it off with a quad burst.  Almost all the A-wings had been cleared.

Almost all of the A-Wings had been cleared. It turned out that a few extra A-Wings were hanging around farther away, and when they saw Nazgul Squadron engage their fellow fightermates, they rushed in as fast as they could.

"Nazgul Squadron, enemy fighters coming in at point-four-oh-five," Jack said. "Flight Two, form up. We'll take them."

"Be careful, Jack," Shazam advised. "You already took some damage."

"Acknowledged, sir," Jack began, "but someone has to clear those other Rebel fighters."

"True," Shazam said. "But just be careful."

With that, Nazgul Squadron Flight 2 flew off to intercept the other enemy targets.

**************************************************

Meanwhile, aboard an A-Wing...

"Gray Leader, this is Gray Three," a young pilot spoke into the comm unit.

"What is it, Gray Three?" the Rebel squadron leader replied to his fellow fighter pilot.

"I have a few enemy targets inbound on point-three-oh-nine," he stated. "Should we intercept?"

"Are you kidding me, rookie?" Gray Leader replied. "Of course! Intercept them before-"

Then the comm went dead. Gray Leader had been shot down...

**************************************************

... By Nazgul Flight Two.

"Watch out, Flight Two," Jack warned, watching the remaining A-Wings forming up for attack.

"Copy that," the other members of Flight 2 responded in unison.

The A-Wings were preforming a standard attack pattern. One would shoot first at randomly, the distractor, and another one would aim more carefully and fire, the killer.

Luckily, it seemed that Jack and the other Nazgul Flight 2 members already anticipated their move. The enemy distractor fired. Of course he missed, since it was part of the attack pattern.

Then, another A-Wing prepared to fire. The A-Wing happened to be Gray Leader. Jack and company realized that he would be the killer. Jack swooped in behind him and shot him to pieces.

Three seconds later, only the Vast Empire fighters remained. The Rebel fighters were reduced to atoms.

"A-wings annoying little bugs they are". Darius check your starboard shield it seems to be flickering. well now that the wings are almost gone we can worry more about those ships than anything else. DJ reached over to the comm and signaled jack. Hey Jack how you holdin up in there, good man how bout yourself, "Pretty good", how bout you Jaden and Shazam.

"all i got was 2 green lights meaning that they were fine". alright thats good. opening up the comm to team frequency. so are we going to go for the ships or are we going to regroup. "Nah man we are still going after those ships but these damn wings keep getting in our way". ok thanks Jaden.

"beep beep" uh oh i am losing power in my front shields give me a second to patch it up. but unless it is out of our hair, they are going to be really annoying.

"hurry it up we haven't got all day" shouted Darius. mind your own business. Thanks shazam.

"Wow that was easy. oko my shield is all fixed "Wow those ships easy its the rebels after all". Hey you guys done there, "ya just about". Alright can we please go for the ships now?

(Dude, lol, three wings is like an entire fleet of fighters, lol...)

Make that eight other A-wings...  Yes, that's right, coming right out into the open, no longer even concerned about the fact they might be spotted by those on planet who were completely oblivious to the VE's occupation.

"Alright, Jack, take your flight and go with those on the right, and Art, go with the rookies to the left.  Dirk, and I will take the center..."  Shazam had managed to find a comforable part of his seat to keep his edge and allow him to continue cracking his fingers without the assistance of his other hand, or rolling his wrist around to the point where it made annoying socket noises.

Ahead of them, the A-wings had just jumped in and were spreading into a long line, causing the imperials to spread themselves as well.  Nazgul just barelly outnumbered them, but these things were quick and they could turn anything into the exact opposite at any givin moment.

The A-wings tilted sideways, giving themselves the leeway and letting off a couple of blast at enemies in the vicinity, giving them the toughest angle to shoot back and hardest tilt to even see.  These things were so aerodynamically awesome, that if they flew a certain way, it was actually hard to see them, except for thier bright white tails of course.  The bright fins gave them appearence of a shark, circling for a meal.

Dirk was extremely quiet for himself, Shazam had actually grown use to his usual jabber that was half sulstan and rusty basic.  That was alright though, hopefully he's paying close attention.

After a few seconds of closing some more distance, the two A-wings directly in front of them and closing quickly, darted in opposing pathways, deciding to test their skill and the manuverability of thier craft.

"Pull up Dirk, don't allow them to get behind us..." Shazam said, a bit of a grunginess to his voice when he said it as climbed sharply, doing his best to get a good position on the craft that would be leading up behind them.

In the background, Jack had just gone bellyside on his enemies and climbed upside down, allowing for the perfect angle of intercept once he reached them.  His men seemed very happy to help him, for they disintigrated the craft and nearly a second in no time at all.

Art, on the other hand, seemed to be having some slight difficulties, because his job was to lead.  Lead, was the problem, he was trying to pull some nifty manuvers but his men could not follow.  You can't tell them how to do everything, he knew Art was thinking, but he'd just have to figure out a way for them to come together without any serious injury.

"Common Dirk, they're getting the angle on you..." said Shazam, his voice a bit more urgent this time, his eye on the little interceptor that was moving father and farther away from them.  "Dirk, DAMMIT!"  The A-wings were on him...

Directly above him and bearing down on him as he climbed upwards was about the best angle of fire they could possibly have gotten.  Now, from the turn Shazam was currently in, his weapon envelope was limited, so naturally, it was kind of upsetting to see his perfect manuver upset by this little mishap.  Nazgul 1 suddenly barrelled sideways, allowing him to turn towards the enemy craft.  Dirk had now given up on his turn, and still in some kind of trance, moved about unharmed, dodging fire here and there.  He was good, but somethin was up...

The two A-wings were in Shazam's path now, and he'd spun right-side up, the controls very calm at his finger tips.  That little manuver was going to cost him one of these days...

"Alright, get ready to break right on my command," Shazam said to Dirk, who was moving about in such random and un-predictable patterns...

Ok, hold on now...

(Oh gah)

Jaden snapped his fighter all the way around, and pointed his direction towards Dirk.  They A-wings were all after him.

"Get our Dreadnaught to spit some missiles out at those A-wings, we aren't going to be able to get to Dirk quick enough to get all of them,"

"This is Vanity, giving it all we got," said the ship commander

Jaden was about 3 klicks away when he saw something horrible.  Dirk had lost his engines all the way, and the A-wings were still hovering around.  But something caught his voice,"

"Gray 8,9,10, and 11 have been taken out.  We are still launching torpedos,"

A large ball of fire proved the words of the commander.  The rest of the A-wings were trying to get their missiles off of their tail, but it was no use.  They were easily turned into space debris."

"Dirk, keep calm," said Jaden.  "We are going to get you out of there"

"Good thing, because I am freaking out right now," Dirk said in basic, panicing.

Shazam and Art whipped around out of the Debris, along with Jack and DJ.  Darius came in from the tail.

"Looks like we the Vanity really got those guys, but now it is defenseless.  It launched almost its whole load to save Dirk."

"Well, we will call in Venom to escort the Vanity," said Jaden.

______

The commandos have been loaded on the Vatigan.  Nazgul, it's time to go planetside.

Venom emerged from another transport just as Nazgul was grouping up.

"Venom, stick with Vanity.  She has taken a little bit of damage, and isn't loaded with anymore missiles."

"Affirmative," replied the Venom pilot.

The shuttle Sienar turned towards it's hyper direction, and shot out into the black nothingness.

The Vatigan, a large rebel cargo transport was beginning it's decent onto the planet.  It was loaded with the commando's that would infiltrate the base, and find the traitors.  Nazgul would come in from the other side of the planet, low under the radar, and try to make a sneak attack on the fighters patrolling the base.  Once that was finished, the person who stole the boarding craft should be hunted down.

"Boys, form up on my wing.  We are going to sling shot around the other side of the planet, and come in from the other side of the base, low.  Try to keep low in the fjords in the mountains, so that their radars won't be able to detect us.

"Dj form up on my wing and stay close."  Arturus ordered as he followed Shazam down towards the planet.  As his fighter hit the atmosphere, he felt it shake violently and begin to pull down and to the right.  The stabilator must also have been damaged.  Art thought to himself as he struggled to keep his entry vector steady.  The atmosphere on the planet was reasonably dense and it wouldn't do him well to overheat on the way in.  Once fully into the main area of the atmosphere, Art felt his fighter slow down and the negative effects the damage to his fighter had on aerodynamics were quickly apparent.

"Everyone descend quickly into the fjord and skim the surface, once in range, lock onto the main generator."  Shazam ordered.  The squadron descended quickly down towards the water, some having to pull up sharply to avoid clipping the waves.

"Scan the mountain sides, they may have turrets hidden in the rocks as defence against a back attack."  Arturus advised.  He reset his flight control calibration so that it would sit in a position moving up and left when he let it go.  As they raced between the mountains, however, he found himself constantly adjusting to compensate and eventually giving up to do it manually.  In front of him, the squadron had begun to pull away slightly.  "Shazam, my engines can't generate enough power to keep up and the damage is causing considerable drag."  Art said over the comm.  Before he could here the reply, the threat alert light on the control panel lit up and a laser lock warning sounded in the cockpit.  Arturus dove down closer to the surface and began to evade.  To his front right, a pair of turrets began firing on his position.  Two others on the left openned fire on the scattered nazguls in front of him.

"Loosen formation and keep low."  Shazam ordered.  "Increase speed, we must get to our target before they scramble defences."  He continued.  Art continued to evade wildly to avoid the intense firepower coming from the turrets as he quickly neared them.  His fighter seemed to groan with each sharp maneuver and the temperature gauges on his cockpit indicated the the bottom right wing panel was overheating considerably from the drag.

"Shazam I can't keep up with you, good luck, I'll meet you at the rendezvous point from the target."  Arturus said over the comm.

"We'll slow up for you Art."  Shazam replied.

"Negative, if you don't hit that target now we'll be in worse trouble, I'll manage."  Art replied.  As he did, another warning bell rang out in his cockpit and his fighter veered sharply and violently to the right.  He swung the controls to the left as hard as he could and tried to regain control of the fighter as the right engine sputtered out.  The fighter raced towards a mountain cliff, the speed disparity between the two sides making it nearly impossible to control the fighter.  Art reached over for the ejection switch but before his hand could reach it, the turret's fire struck the fighter on the bottom right panel batting the interceptor away from the cliff and into a violent barrel roll heading towards the water.  Arturus reached over as far as he could, using one hand to stabilize the other and after one failed attempt, managed to flick the ejection switch.  A split second later, he was flying up into the air as the booster rocket blew his ejection seat out of the doomed fighter.  The interceptor trailed debris and heavy black smoke as it plummeted into the water a couple seconds later.  The parachute on the ejection seat deployed and Art slowly descended down to the ground.  The wind blew him towards the mountain side as he tried to land the seat in the narrow strip between the rocky mountain side and the river.

About fifty meters from the ground, a large gust blew him against the cliff causing him to touch down on the rocky hill side about fifteen meters above the ground.  The collision sent the ejection seat bouncing and rolling down the rest of the mountain before crashing onto the rocks beside the river.  Art groaned and his vision went black.

(I can't beleive you remember that from World Cultures, lol)

Shazam had become quite attentive after barreling about, trying to manuver through debris going fast enough to rip into his ship.  Not that there was anything wrong with a little workout, but now Shazam was kind of warm from moving all over the place, attempting to keep himself on the straight and narrow.  After some time, that is when in the later half of his Kaph career, he'd come to realize that when you get worked up, you don't see things.  Those objectives that were (earlier on) stated in such a clear, dynamic way, are simply imperceptable to all sences and only one thing becomes clear, but in the end, even that becomes a rippled sensation in the back of your mind.

There were coming through the exosphere of the planet now, not a very warm one though and there didn't seem to be too much gravity yet.  There might not be as much of a problem for these guys after all, thought Shazam.  However, once they got closer, the ships began to way down, controls slightly more 'sluggish' than before and the air extremely bogged down and dull.

The carrier to the right of Shazam and Jack was floating downwards at a steady descent, and the fighters surrounding it doing thier best to copy its exact lofting drop.  In the cockpit of the squadron leader's hornet interceptor, things were beginning to cool down.  Way down...

"Guys, watch the temps of this particular atmosphere, its supposed to be upper sixties, mid-seventies once we reach the bottom, but it looks like this area is kind of bitter." Shazam pulled the sleeves of his gloves back, letting his fingers stretch the tips of the black leather.  He'd heard stories about men freezing to thier equipment after prolonged battled, holes making there way into the equipment...  Of course, its much colder in space, you would reason, but in some cases, the atmosphere causes problems with the temp control sensors on the outside of the craft, as well as causing severe damage to foils and once or twice, frozen fuel tanks...

Coming out of the clouds now, temperature dropping dramatically, there was a beachhead canvased in dark palm-like trees.  There was a jolt right after the departure of the second phase in the atmosphere though, and Shazam received a rude awakening.

"Oh crap..."  To the right side of his viewport, dark clouds and thunderous mounds of electrical storm were reaching into the sky.

Jack noticed at almost the exact same moment, he had been fumbling with some knobs, a perfectionist when it comes to in flight tune-ups.  "Uh, Shazam...  We might have just become very limited in this operation..."

"Nazgul, this is your squadron leader.  We've just encountered a slight problem.  To the east, is a major electrical storm, capable of rendering our craft useless when it comes to dogfighting, support fire, or basically any other type of basic fighter group activity.  We need to stay away from that storm, and my guess is, by the way this wind is pushing my craft away, theres a chance this could grow to some serious proportions..."  Shazam tapped his temples and let the fighter run without any hands for about a minute.  This could be rough...

(Doin good guys, try to have some fun with your characters...)

(Ho Rah!)

Arts fighter debris was plastered into the side of the mountain.  If he was in their, there was no chance of survival.  Jaden scanned the area of the debris, and spotted a small black dot.  It was Arturus.

"This is Jaden on the tail end here with Dj and Darius.  I just spotted Arts crash site, and he landed a few kilo's away.  I have pinpointed the spot on the navi-pad," said Jaden.

"Good Job, now for up and get up here.  There is a large storm coming in from the east.  If you don't make it to us, you probably aren't going to be able to find us.  The temperatures are getting pretty cold, so keep yourself heated up"

"Affirmative," replied Jaden.

The Hornet Interceptor gained speed as Jaden eased the throttle forward.  Hopefully, Art would be ok.  It looked as if he ejected right in time as the satabalizers imploded.  Dj and Darius followed tightly behind.

"Guys, there is a storm coming in from the east.  Revert some of your energy over to your heaters, but don't take too much away from your engines.  We have to catch up with Shazam before the storm hits full."

"Affirmative," replied Darius.

"Aknowledged," replied DJ.

A few minutes later, Jaden spotted the rest of Nazgul.  Shazam was flying with Art and Jack, and Dirk was tailing behind.  Withing seconds, the squadron had formed back up.

"Ok, the generator should be just outside the exit of the fjord.  The storm is really starting to threaten the area, so watch where you are flying.  Get to close to some of those clouds, and you are history.  They will take all your systems out as if you were hit by an EMP blast," said Shazam.  "Flight 3, cover the rear for us"

"Affirmative," replied Jaden.  Just as they came towards the exit of the fjord, thunder rumbled the surface of the planet.  Jaden started counted the intervals between the thunder and the shots of lightning.  The first time, it was 5.  A little close for comfort.  Then 3.  Oh boy.

"Everyone, snap out of the fjord to the left!" yelled Jaden.  The fighters quickly manuevered out of the fjord just as the lightning stormed down into the crevace in the mountains.  DJ barely got out in time.

"Keep that throttle steady DJ, we almost lost you there," said Jaden.

"Good to still be with you guys," he replied.

Jaden scanned the surace, and looked back to his targeting computer.  The winds were really starting to pick up.  Jaden fought to keep his fighter stabalized as he was rocked by the hurricane like winds.

"Keep 'er steady...." said Shazam.

Jaden spotted the generator a few klicks away to the front.

"There it is.  Go get it....." said Shazam.

Jack's fighter was getting pounded by the extreme monsoon winds. Art had already gone down and crashed, but he had somehow survived. He flew as Jaden's wingmate for a second or two.

Jack Nebulax didn't know how much longer his fighter could take these devastating pounds from the wind. Then again, with all he had been through within his time as a member of the Vast Empire Navy, this was nothing at all.

At least, it should have been.

The generator was now in site. Shazam, the brave commander of Nazgul Squadron, gave the order to destroy it.

"We're within range," Jaden said over the comlink.

"I hope we can blast that thing before the winds blast us out of the sky like poor Art," Jack said.

"We'll handle it, Jack," Shazam said. "We've been through worse."

Jaden replied. "Yeah, I lost my arm in combat."

"So did I," Jack said, remembering the horrible battle at Thyferra - his first full-length mission for the Vast Empire and its grand navy.

"Let's do it," DJ234 replied gleefully.

"Alright," Shazam began, "Form up. Nazgul Squadron, this is Nazgul 1. Prepare for battle."

The eager pilots gave out a war cry. It was time.

Darius stared out his viewport as if he were staring into the future.  He was fighting the powerful storm.  His shields were beginning to bug out and he couldn't get his mind off Art.  His father had taught him never to leave anyone behind.  He hadn't yet and he didn't plan to.  He didn't know what condition Art was in but his was going to find out.

"This is Darius, I'm going after Art.  I'm not leaving him behind."

"NEGATIVE, Darius!" replied Shazam.  "I repeat, do not go after Art.  He'll be fine.  I've already called in a rescue team."

"They can't rescue him in this weather.  We don't know what condition he is in or if he's even alive.  They'll never make it.  My aft shields are out anyway.  One hit and I'm a goner.  Besides, I'm the only one qualified for this.  You read my bio that they gave you when I arrived.  I use to be a mercenary.  This is what I was trained for.  I'm going.  If you wanna bust my rank, go ahead.  It's not like I could possibly get any lower anyway.  Darius out.'

Before Shazam could give his input on the situation, Darius turned his com off.  He couldn't believe he was disobeying orders.  It wasn't unusual though.  He's surprised he made it this far into to Navy without receiving a dishonor discharge for his defiant personality.  Eventually he's gonna have to learn to take orders from other people than his deceased father and dead friend Jex.

Darius had broken formation and nobody had followed.  He began to slow as he dived into the fjord.  After entering, he realized that he was being a little reckless.  He released a burst of fire into the canyon wall and a turret exploded.  He dropped altitude, trying to stay below the turret's sensor arrays.

The storm began to worsen. Visibility was dropping rapidly so Darius turned on the infrared vision on the view screen in the cockpit.  He decrease the distance between him and Art.  He knew what he had to do.

Upon making visual contact with the crash site, a lightning bolt struck the solar panel on the TIE.  The instruments immediately overloaded.  "Oh shit," Darius said to himself.  He instantly reached for his gear and brought with him and began to reach for the eject button.  He speed began to decrease and he ejected, hoping to be close to Art.

The TIE careened into the canyon wall and exploded on impact.  Darius hit the hit the ground and cut the parachute from his shoulders.  He cut the cord, hoping that is would come into use.  He salvaged everything he could, including the parachute and began his search for Art.

In five minutes, he had found Art unconscious.  He immediately began survival first aid.  He started with checking for a pulse and found a steady, strong pulse.  Upon looking for any wounds that would be life threatening, he discovered that Arts leg appeared as if is had three joints.  That couldn't be healthy.  He put in an IV that would kill pain and resesitate, then ran off to find a suitable splint that nature could provide.

Darius found some iron pole reeds, (native to Dubrillion and known for their extreme stiffness) near a creek.  He managed to hack a few down with his hatchet and ran back to Art.  Using the cord from the parachute, he used the reeds to stabilize the broken leg and keep it stabilized.

Off in the distance, Darius looked through his customized scope off his Marksman E-11 blaster rifle.  Toggling through the setting, he managed to find the outline for to beings and a large AA turret.  Art stirred in the distance and Darius ran back.

"Who's there?" he wearily questioned.

"It's me, Darius; I'm trying to rescue you."

Art leaned up and looked at his leg but felt no pain.  He cringed at the sight and looked at Darius, "now this is gonna hurt in the morning."

"I did the best I could with the lack of supplies."

"So?" Art began to question.  "What's the plan of attack?"

"Well," Darius began to explain.  "I thought about asking those nice people if I could use their com and turret.  However, I ruled it out and thought I'd just shoot.  How does that sound?  Asking isn't really my thing."

"Are you sure you're up to it man, you're just a rookie.  What do you know about fighting?"

"Well, obviously, somebody didn't read my bio that they released.  I'm a mercenary that killed Imperials.  I've killed commandos with my father at our last little engagement.  I think and can handle a few guards and with a big ass turret."

"What ever, it's your life.  One question though, how in all the hells known to this galaxy did you come to be a pilot in the Imperial navy."

"Long story, when we get out of this, I may just tell it to you."  Darius handed Art one of his DL-44 blasters and a few power cells.  Making sure Art would be out of harms way, he his him behind some foliage covered him in the muddy parachute to keep him warm.  Setting his rifle to kill, he rested the stock against his shoulder and advanced on the turrets positions.  Art stopped him, "hey Darius."  He turned and looked at Art.  "I guess I can't call you rookie anymore."  Darius just smiled, gave a small solute, and proceeded.

(If you guys don't mind, I'd like to finish the whole rescue thing.  You can handle the flight mission.  If that's all right.)

(It's fine, good work Dar)

The wind rocked the fighters even harder as the storm threatened.  Nazgul Squadron formed up in a V formation, Shazam leading, followed by Jack at his right, and Jaden at his left.  Owoemana followed Jack, while DJ followed Jaden.

"Darius is handling the situation with Art," said Shazam.  "Keep your minds in the game, and stay focused.  Hit the power conduits around the generator so we can blow that shield for the transport."

Just then, a transmission came in from the Vanity.

"We have been engaged, repeat, we have been engaged.  Nazgul Squadron and commandos, get your mission done, and get out of there.  More information will follow."

"Well, there goes our master plan blow to hell," said Jaden.  "Lets get this finished so we can get off of this planet."

Four power conduits surrounded the generator.  Lightning bolts struck the ground everywhere around the Tie's flight path.  Jaden and DJ split to the left to cover the two left generators, while Shazam got the 3rd, and Jack and Owoemana got the 4th.  Dirk followed along.

AA emplacements started to fire all over the area, spitting out a barage of bolts into Jaden's flight path.  He fought to swirve out of them, but was struck starboard.  DJ snapped up to his side to make sure that he was alright.

"I'm fine, just stick with me," said Jaden.  But he wasn't.  His life support systems were dropping like a rock, and his targeting systems were malfunctioning.

"I'm flying blind boys.  Just my eyes and by blasters." said Jaden.

"Try to stay with us as long as you can."

Jaden let off a few shots at the power conduit, ripping it into pieces.  DJ was quick and shot the other one out; letting sparks of electricity make their way into the generator ripping it into pieces.  The two on the other side where blown just as easy.  The lightning bolts were getting closer and closer in proximity to the fighters.  Then something terrible happened.

DJ looked at his targeting screen, then rubbed his eyes to make sure what he was seeing.

"For some reason I am counting 6 bogey's coming our way."

Confused, Shazam called back.  "I think I see them too," but his voice was cut off by the barrage of laser bolts flying into th Squadrons formation.  The fighters were being ripped apart.

"Everyone, SCRAMBLE!," get away from the fighters, and take cover."

Jaden tried to get out of the laser lock, but it was no use.  His stabalizers were shot, and he couldn't control his movements.  DJ had been hit too."

"Nazgul, there goes my flight." Jaden said as he pulled the ejection system, and was rocketed into the air along with his flight mate.  As he arose, he saw the fighters attacking eachother, and Jack and Owoemana getting hit also.  It was chaos.

(OOC: Great work Darius, it'll be great to have you back for good once you aren't as busy)

Arturus shivered as the powerful wind whipped across the water spraying the waves everywhere.  He alternated putting arms under the parachute to keep them warm while keeping the other one near his gun.  In the distance, he could hear the whirl of the engines of fighters and what seemed to be shots being fired.  There were also a series of explosions.  Either they hit their target or we're in deep trouble.  He thought to himself as he pressed his body against the cliff and ground as much as possible in order to try and shelter himself from the bitter wind.  If only Darius had placed my pack closer.  He thought.  Darius had hidden both flight packs in some bushes twenty feet away.

Arturus laid back and tried to keep warm as much as possible.  The leg was beginning to hurt as the initial medication was beginning to wear off and the cold wind beat against his body.  As he lay there, the sound of the wind beat almost deafeningly in his ears.  As he tried to block out the sound, he heard a series of haunting words in his head.  "After the winds of hell beat deafeningly over the roar of the sea will he finally realize his real spirit of darkness."  The words repeated over and over in his head as the wind blew, painfully cold, over his body.  Arturus' head began to wander, the words, loud and clear as day repeated over and over hauntingly in his head.  He shook his head, trying to shake the words right out, but instead he cried out in pain as his shaking rocked his entire body.  In his mind, the image of the tattered flag over the city played over and over again as the words rang through his head.  He tried to clear his mind, think of anything else but it continued to play over and over in his head.

Suddenly, he was jolted out of the dream as water splashed over his head.  A large gust had blown the water all the way to the cliff.  A second later another way struck his lower body as the water was being forced towards the cliff as it roarded through the narrow ravine.  I need to get out of here.  He thought as he reached around with his hands to find a large rock to grab and pull himself up.  I hope Darius gets back soon.

(This is great guys, keep it goin...)

Shazam pulled left...  Hard...

"Some one's onto us guys..." Shazam said, the intensity of his voice increasing as he pulled a high loop, the force pushing him far back into his seat.  The rain was coming down so hard, the winds so fierce and determined, the pilot had to struggle to keep level and think at the same time...

Jaden was now out, DJ was probably ejected, and the duo Art and Darius were running about somewhere in the hurricane weather.  In the mean time, Shazam continued to loop around, drawing attention from his squadron onto himself.  Jack followed suit, now realizing that there was no where to go or anyone to protect.  The squadron was gone, and the two of them felt all alone against the armada of death, waiting for thier senses to come back so they could get a clean shot.

"Jack, we can't take these guys down..."  said Nazgul 1, his own shields biting its upperlip to hold on for just a little while longer.  Shazam was breathing hard and utter defeat seemed most evident at the moment, a safe haven didn't seem very plausible at the moment, so he just continued to fly in continuous loops, hoping the enemy fighters would not be able to see him clearly enough.  If it were just the rainblind weather, Shazam would have thought twice, even recommending taking on the squadron with Jack at his sides.  But my goodness, thought Shazam who watch helpless as the equipment began to fail, lights flickering and his own mind becoming foggy.

"Follow me Jack..."

"Got ya man," he said, calmly allowing himself to be guided like a puppet, without sight or even sound as the com began to buzz; for almost a half an hour, the lightning had been building up, electrical interference wider and more frequent that before, eventually enveloping the entire system that was the Nazgul channel.  Everything felt infested, taken control of, there seemed to be nothing to do but hide.  So they did...

Shazam's equipment was basically dead, but Shazam recalled the map he'd been given before the briefing, and he'd studied it thoroughly.  If theres one thing he would like to teach his guys, it was 'always read your maps...  Find a safe point.'  He'd picked a small cove that was about three and a half miles from the base to be exploited.  The commando's had been dropped off about four miles from the target area and were trying to move without any severe losses from men or equipment, hopefully to the traitor manifest.

Jack was keeping his space as they moved towards the hostile jungle below.  Branches flew from one area to another at high speeds, capable of crippling the imperial craft.  Shazam continued to head to the clearing directly underneath the circling enemy fighters...

Darius shook the water from his face.  He was in range of the two people he had spotted in his scope.  It was a Rodian and a Whiphid.  The Rodian would be no problem, the Whiphid, on the other hand, had to be about twice his size and strength.  Must be a female, Darius thought to himself.

He looked once more through his scope and found three more people guarding the gun controls.  With this many people, there had to be a transport nearby.

Darius moved closer in range.  He knew he just couldn't go in guns blazing without getting himself killed.  Art's life was on the line and so was his own.  He had to try his luck throw his hand-crafted High-fly throwing knives his father had given him upon his completion of hand-to-hand combat training.

He unfastened his suit to retrieve it from its hidden compartment.  With one in each hand, he bent his right arm to a 90 degree angle, put his left foot foward and threw, trying to compensate for the wind.  It met the Rodian in the throat and it began to faulter.  The whiphid turned, looked, took it in, and roared.  "Oh shit, I've pissed her off," Darius muttered.  She roared something to the other three and they drew there weapons and disapeered.  From what little he knew of the whiphid language, he perfectly understood that they were going to try to flank him.

Darius put his other knife back in it pouch, and drew his blaster.  His main priority was to get the beast.  He quickly aimed and fired once, twice, and yet a third time.  The whiphid charged his position.  "Oh no," Darius said out loud this time.  He slung his rifle over his sholder and drew his second DL-44 and his hatchet.

The furious, bleeding creature lept over the bushes and almost landed on Darius.  He managed to roll out of the way in time to miss the knee of his assailant.  The whiphid charged and Darius knew her weakness: clumsiness.

In a low crouching stance, he leapt out of the way of the whiphids second charge and drove the hatchet blade into her calf.  She went to one knee and Darius aimed and put three shots into the back of her head.  She struggled and gave up the fight, sucumbing to a bloody death.

Darius withdrew the hatchet from the limp corpse and felt the hair off the back of his head be singed off.  He rolled backwards and sprung up released a quick burst to cover his retreat.  They fired, but were obviously not qualified for self- defense.  They were terrible shots, yet, not to underestimated.  Darius found cover near the turret and planned his next actions.

They kept firing and he had it.  Time to use an old trick his father taught him.  The stood and sprinted for the next nearest cover.  They fired at him through instinct, as he predicted.  Dropping to the ground, he began to scream bloody murder.  To make it sound realistic, he even cried out to his dead father.  The three rebels dropped their guard and investigated.

Upon their arrival, they saw Darius convulsing and screaming.  One of them, a Twi'lek, acted as the judge, "Imperial scum, I condemn you to--."  Darius jerked and dropped the Twi'lek with a shot to the abdomin.  He sweep kicked a small, stout human, and using the resistance of the kick, sprung himself at the other being which was a Gotal.

They were totally taken by surprise.  Darius retrieved his vibroblade from his boot and drove it into the face of the Gotal.  The stout human quickly rose to his feet and kicked Darius' blaster away only to be dropped by a round-house kick the his glass chin.  Darius watched him spit out a tooth before he lost his conscious.  Walking over to the dead Rodian, he retrieved his prized knife and wiped the blood on the Rodian's leather jerkin.  He walked to the Twi'lek and spit on his face.  He muttered to the limp body, "take that di'kut."

Walking over the turret, he noticed that the com was shot out of the control panel.  Darius ruled out firing the turret as a use of a flare.  Visibility was too low, and the heat signature wouldn't last long in the weather conditions.

Now that the actions was over, he decided to survey the area.  The canyon was started to flood.  "Dammit, Art!"  He couldn't believe that what he had just done might have been in vain.  He had to think fast.  He left his grappling gun back on his bunk.

Searching for an alternative escape route, he noticed that there was a flat boulder in the middle of the small river forming.  Realizing that it was more than a boulder, Darius sprinted and swam to it.  The boulder happened to be an combat airspeeder.  He opened the cockpit and thanked the stars that it was a two man.

He quickly got his off the ground and flew back to Art.  Darius found him crawling to higher ground dragging both packs Darius had hidden.  With feelings of great relief, Darius landed and carefully picked Art up and hoisting him over his shoulder.  Minding the condition of the severely broken leg.  Darius drug both packs and carried Art to the speeder with the adrenaline of the moment.  He didn't have much time because the sound proved his fear.

A flash flood roared down upon the turret and Darius heard it.  He hopped in the pilot seat and roared off, almost crashing in the side of the canyon.  The speeder beat the roaring rush of water out of the canyon and accelerated even faster.

The speeder couldn't get him back the Star Destroyer, but it would make it to the nearest military base.  Art began giving himself even more painkillers.  "What took you so long?" he sarcastically questioned.  Darius just shook his head and hoped that when he arrived at the base, he could sip on an nice cup of steaming java juice and pray that the mission was a success his fellow pilots.

(For those of you who haven't read Hard Contact, the word di'kut, is a Mandalorian curse.  It's an excellent read and I highly suggest you pick it up at the nearest book store.
