Yeah, don't worry too much about not being a good writer. I've noticed a huge difference in my own writing between when I first joined and now. So you get some practice around here and have a chance to improve a good bit. -----------------------

The other way is to read of course, which becomes easier and easier, and then the 'understanding' comes along, and that just transfers itself into your writing as well as maybe some similar situations... -----------------------

When was the last time you were promoted Shazam?
I would think that you deserve to be promoted with all of the writing you have done, as far as i can tell, you have been a PO2 before the start of Chp8. -----------------------

Hmph, well I don't really worry about it, but I think I was promoted to PO2 in the one Naval story when I met my buddy Chip. Then about midway through that we both got promoted, the only problem is, I can't take any more of the test until I'm a PO1. Right now I'm just kind of free writing, hopefully Squall will get back on because I don't like to double post... -----------------------

I'm a little touchy about giving advice on promotions: who gets them is not up to me and I don't want to steer you wrong. Shazam and I were promoted to PO2 because we were 1st and 2nd place, respectively, in the last naval writing competition. With only one squadron, I imagine that promotions are going to be few and far between, because there are few leaders positions available. If we could just get enough recruits to reopen another squadron, the number of positions available would double. So get out there and recruit some active pilots! But in the mean time, I recommend lots of good writing. Spamming the comnet, though it raises your post count, only enrages people. So I would concentrate on writing. Do well enough, and when that new squadron comes around your skills will be fresh in the commanders' minds. -----------------------

Oh, almost forgot: SEND IN REPORTS!!!!
If my flight members don't send in a report this weekend, I ask that they be fined half of whatever is in their accounts. I've reminded them too many times, and am sick of it. I even tried offering a reward. Due to reenacting, I'll be gone this weekend. I'll send my own report in on Friday morning. My flight should send their reports to Den and Shaz. They might as well send me a copy, though I won't see it till Sunday. I want to know who from my flight reports in. -----------------------

There is also another problem about recruiting, you want to make sure that they stay long enough to get out of the Academy, and actually get put into a squad, half of people that joined VE never came back after they joined. -----------------------

Another problem is the absence of overall leadership around here. Where's the squadron leader? Where's the training officer? These newbies have got to bed trained and put into a squadron, then told what to do when they're there. I appreciate the work you guys are doing to help Japheth hold the Navy together (Chipmunk, Shazam, Gene, Squall, Jack), but it looks to me like it's in abysmal shape right now. Poor, poor Navy... -----------------------

The training officer has recently been replaced. As for other things, meh, it is in pretty bad shape, hopefully this will help us retain newbs though. -----------------------

Sorry, Japheth. I was unaware. I missed some things over the past few weeks. I'm all filled in now.
I also apologize if that post sounded condescending (or whatever). There are so many reasons why the Navy has gotten to the state it has over the past two years that it would take me all night to try and list them. I'm not blaming anyone by far, just pointing out that it's hard to do things when there's no one around to do them.
And, as always, if you ever need any help with anything, just ask. I'm here... somewhere.
P.S. I also realize that Denethor has been without a computer for a while. So hopefully now that he has his laptop things will change in that department.

I certainly hope to. I literally just got my wireless router up and running today, so now that I can constantly be online, I do wish to do a hell of a lot more than what I've been able to do in the past 2 weeks. Well, thursday afternoon at the latest so I can include you in my report and say you reported.
I just send mine in on Thursday because its right before Friday, so if Denethor reports to the higherups he can do it by Saturday... And if well... There isn't too much higher up to go, so its a comfortable time table I've kind of set up. I told my guys to report by Wednesday if not on Wednesday.
For you though, since your Flight leader is Denethor, you can just send yours straight to him some time within the week. -----------------------

I'm finding it a problem that I need to emphasize that you have to send your reports to 3 individuals. Myself first and foremost, Shazam, as he is the Executive Officer, and your Flight Leader. Now, those of you who are in my or Shazam's flight don't have to worry about sending to your Flight Leader, but those in chip's do. So, if you're in chip's flight, you must send your report to three seperate people, chip, Shazam, and myself. If you're in my or Shazam's flights, you send to both he and myself. I don't understand why I'm getting reports from my flight leaders telling me that their members have reported in to them, but they haven't reported to me. I want your reports, they don't send them to me, they just tell me that you have - make sure you send me your reports. -----------------------
