OOC:  /me reads more closely.  Um, yeah, I see your point.  Consider those fighters launched from other facilities.  Talon is correct about the hangar limitations on that class of vessel.

The Marauder class followed  behind the system craft, flanked on both sides by escorts from the ambassador.  This was of course unknown to both Jester and Wraith squad as they were meeting in a sealed off room.  Kiption and Razial were obviously having an arguement about something going on with the mission.  In hushed tones of course, nobody besides the two of them could actually hear what was going on, in fact the only reason you could tell that they were arguing in the first place was the flailing about of their arms while they were trying to explain their points to the other.  "That's fine... That's fine... ok?"  Kip was making a point.  "I completely understand that your group is better suited for sneaking around and stealing shit.  With Daishi's pack you all could pretend to be a janitorial staff for all I care.  I'm just letting you know, that we're," motioning at his squad, "not gonna sit around here and watch you guys take all the fun away from us just because you seem to think you're all hot shit or something.  We can do the job just as well as your guys can, and we don't even have to rely on stupid little tatics like cleaning the floor with that pine scented crap." "You really can't let the cleaning supplies go can you?" Raz asked. "What is his giant plan, to spit shine the entire place so it looks imperial.  You carry what you need, if he's seen walking around with a bag of bathroom cleaner you're gonna stand out like a sore thumb.  'oh sorry sir, just let me stop here and wip out some toilet bowl cleaner so i can keep the minty fresh smell of the battlefield.'  I mean honstly, how do you expect to be able to move around if he has to sanitize everything."  "Alright, I deal with it.  But first things first, we need to decide what needs to be done.  We need some serious reconisance of this place.  I don't trust the maps Kras has given us," Raz looked around the room. "I say we split the imperial controlled area into two so we can get a better view of what's going on.  Especially since we won't look like loyalists, we'll get more of a sense of what's going on in this damn place."  Kip looked for some sign of acknowledgement. "I'll take it under advicement." --------------------------- Anyone else?

[Kiption, such language on this comnet you should be ashamed.  Also as I remember from the briefing we don't know which station the plans are actually on, they could be on one of the other two we don't have access to(or am I just giving in to my perspective of reality too much again?).] Too many things were uncertain and no real plan of battle had been decided by either squad leader.  No clear cut division of responsibilities would lead to nothing but chaos and problems later. To make things worse Kuroishi had seen retirement homes with more get up and go then Wraith squad.  Kuroishi had managed some rather impresive things in the past but he had a squad of disciplined, professional, and enthusiastic soldiers to help him get there. Dealing with bad situations was what a soldier was trained to do, but Kuroishi still didn't like having so many questions unaswered.  He'd give his left leg and left arm just for ten minutes of GUESSWORK's services. While he did have an idea of what the opposition had from what information VE intel had managed to gather, he still didn't know how they were spread out.  No one had even an idea of the strength, disposition, or quality of the forces they were here to inspect. There wasn't even a timetable for operations on the drawing board yet.  Things were about to get interesting.

Kiption looked across the table at Kraas and smiled thinly. There was an uncomfortable silence in the room and Kip had had enough of it. What had started as a long list of questions he had made was now down to the last few. He didn’t much like being used as a distraction.     “The sergeant Major will be here soon?”     “Ah I’m sure he will,” Kiption grimaced.     “Good Good.” Kraas looked down at a data pad, well aware that Kip was struggling to cover Raziel.     “Oh there was one more question,” Kiption started.     “Go ahead, please” Kraas replied. He didn’t even try to cover a smile.     “Your troops down on the planet, we can easily assess the arms and training, but how is the moral? I mean do they truly follow the empire or are they just here for the pay?” As Kiption finished it actually seemed like quite a good question.     “Ah well those who have been with us from the start are really the loyalists. The ones I want you to have a look at. The others however are mercenaries; they couldn’t care less who they’re fighting for. I truly regret having to hire that bunch.” Kiption looked up as Kraas finished.     “We knew you hired mercenaries, but how much of your force is made up of them?”     “Oh not that many, no where near half of my force. However I’ve merely hired a small portion of the troops they have on offer. I could in an emergency hire a great deal more, but only for a short time you see.” Kraas genuinely smiled. If there was something he liked it was boasting.     Kiption thought for a second on this. He made a mental note to bring this up later with the rest of the men.     The door swung inwards and Raziel stepped through. He looked at both of them and then took a seat.     “Good to see you here Sergeant. I trust whatever kept you wasn’t too taxing?”     “Erm no trouble, sorry to keep you both waiting for so long.”     “You’d better be” Kip mumbled.     “Good Good,” Kraas smiled. “Well we all know why you’re here. However I now need to be a bit more precise about my needs.” Kraas turned to a holo projector set into the table on one side. He fumbled with some controls and an image of a sprawling city appeared. “Ah yes Eriadu city. This is where the war will be won or lost, if we can take back the city and turn it into my fortress we can hold them off indefinitely. Now as it stands it looks like this” The image rotated around and then changed colour. The left hand side, what the image showed to be the north, was highlighted in red. On their right hand side the image was bright blue. There was no clear divide between the forces, in the centre of the map the red section pushed out right into the middle of the blue. “As you can see in the last few days they have attacked the centre of my forces and pushed us back. I lost a lot of good men, but they retreated efficiently, the rebels also failed to seriously push me back at any other point along the central divide. The rebels have pushed a lot of men into this section to hold it” Kraas pointed to the red peninsula. “Having failed to push me back anywhere else they also failed to realise that they couldn’t hold this section without using up a lot of resources. My commanders and I have decided of what to do about this. “We plan to cut them off from the rest of their forces, if we can stop them from retreating we can slowly whittle them down and annihilate a large portion of their troops. Of course they’ll probably surrender after a few weeks, but you never know.” On the diagram the neck of the red peninsula was eaten by the blue. Over a few seconds the red violation dissolved into blue once more. Raziel looked to Kiption and then back to Kraas. “And after that?” “Well we’ll probably go back on the defensive, I don’t want to take any risks yet. Right now…” Kraas started, quickly changing subject. “…I would like your men to try and get into this rebel intrusion and try and advise me on what sort of force I’m going to need to force them out. Also try and look at their rearguard to see what we’ll be fighting to cut them off.” Again Raziel and Kiption looked at each other briefly. “As you wish,” Raziel said. “Have your men ready early tomorrow morning. The city still isn’t a safe place to land so we’ll do another bombing run of their advancing forces tomorrow morning and risk a drop off. That’ll save time. Until last week this seemed like skirmish, now we’re bombing each other. ” Raziel reflected that maybe this fight didn’t need any exterior help to escalate the conflict.     The sun started to creep around the planet turning the black sleeping station into a shining metal factory. Raziel watched as the planet beneath him started to light up. The view was quite amazing, until his window was closed as the station was brought fully into the sun’s harsh glare.     The bed creaked as he stood up to look around his temporary room. He had been awake for hours, unable to sleep. He picked up one small leather bag and opened his door. He started at they dull grey wall in front of him for a second before turning right and heading off to meet Kraas.     One of Kraas’ officers sat down on a plain wooden stool in front of them all. He wore a tattered uniform and his leg was roughly splinted. It looked like a lot of Kraas’ men had been here a while.     “Well I’m not sure what help I can give you really, all the hired mercenaries have their own uniforms and a lot of them don’t. I’m not really sure how they’ll react if they see a group of men behind their lines so I can only suggest one thing. Don’t get noticed.     “They can’t really entrench themselves in the city so it shouldn’t be too hard for someone who knows that they’re doing to get in amongst them.” He carried on, obviously glad to talk to someone new about the situation.     “So you don’t think there’s any particular place we should try and go through?”     “No not really, tomorrow night we’ll start some more serious skirmish’s to try and keep them occupied.”     “Ok well hopefully in the confusion we’ll be able to slip through, but I still don’t like the idea of being caught by stray fire. Kip, I’d like you to think about how we can look pretty inconspicuous in case we have to move around during the daylight.” Raziel said.     “On it” was all Kip said.     “Arkanian, I want you to take Bronx and Yun and go with the lieutenant. Look over all his equipment, check out his troops and make sure you do a thorough job. I want a full report given to me when we get back. Whenever that’ll be.”     Raziel clasped his carbine blaster tightly and looked out into the darkness. His eyes were used to the darkness, yet he still couldn’t make out much his surroundings. Everything seemed dull and quiet compared to the constant noise of battle that had kept him up all last night.     Then there was the familiar sound of blaster fire and of grenades. The street fighting had been heavy in this section of the city for months and most of the structures were roofless and crumbling. The skyline was suddenly lit up as heavier weapons were used. It seemed so strange to Raziel that skirmish’s had been constant in the city for so long and the rebels had even started some major attacks, yet most of the planet was still at rest.     Raziel looked to Kiption and nodded. There was no inspirational speech tonight, no bravado or laughing. They would simply try and get through heavy urban fighting in the middle of the night and come out on the other side alive. Wraiths had been training for years in how to go undetected, but Raziel feared none of that would matter tonight.     The wraiths moved silently through almost deserted streets towards the sound of battle, the jesters somewhere out to their left.     It was a few minutes before they started seeing troops moving around. Raziel had them wait for fifteen minutes until a nearby fight was finished. A group of loyalists had started moving down a street, but had been ambushed by rebel defences.     “Ok let’s go. Keep in cover at all times and keep low we don’t want to get seen. We take it as slow as we can,” Raziel regretted that he might be giving up on the chance to beat Jester to the meeting point within Rebel territory. (Ok we’ve got something to write about now. Anything you want changed in the above email me.)

"Remember that strip club on Corellia I was telling you about?" Dragoon said to Kiption as Jester ducked behind a ruined building.  "I was thinking of saving up some money and buying that some day.  Nice girls, good times.  Did I ever tell you that?" Kiption rolled his eyes.  "Yeah, you told me that," he said in a frustrated whisper. "Yeah, about that," Dragoon replied quietly.  "I can't fulfill that dream if I'm dead."  Dragoon eased the blaster pistol at his side in and out of it's holster.  "And if I die, I swear I'm going to kick your ass." Kiption decided to ignore the shear impossibility of the statement and turned to the rest of the squad.  "Okay boys and girls, here's the plan." "Great, he has a plan," Dragoon muttered.  "Our fearless leader comes and leads us to a great victory with his terrific plan." "Would you shut up?!"  Kiption said a little louder than he wanted to.  Dragoon grinned a bit and nodded to Kiption to continue.  "Anyway, the fighting is getting really thick here.  We're going to have to go a few kilometers west to escape the main melee.  Stay low, and try not to get in sight of either side." Jester nodded as one.  "If we get through this alive," Dragoon said to the squad, "Prostitutes are on me."  He chuckled a bit at his own wit as he waited for Kiption to lead them out.

Kuroishi looked at the check station through his macronocs that the rebels had managed to set up right in the path of Wraith. "This is not good.  They're expecting something in this sector but from the looks of it they still aren't prepared for a full out push.  We got several choices: go right past them, go around, get into an ugly fire fight, or concoct some other brilliant idea."  Kuroishi said as he settled back down into cover. "Around will take time and through isn't much of an option.  The fire fight otion is unacceptable.  So I guess that leaves us with concoct some other brilliant idea."  Raziel replied. Too much longer and the situation would become unntenable.  The loyalists had been doing a decent job of keeping the rebels occupied but they wouldn't be able to keep it up much longer. Kuroishi ruffled through his bag of tricks for a moment then produced a run of the mill weather analasys device.  Kuroishi grew happy at what he saw.  A front was moving in to create some nice wonderfull fog.  Though they couldn't wait for it to get here he could arrange for some to arrive early so to speak. "I say we go through after I concoct a bit of fog.  They'll never see a thing."  Kuroishi said after putting the device away. Kuroishi grabbed a couple of empty bottles and two with some sort of clear liquid each.  Kuroishi carefully poured small amounts from each bottle into the empty bottles then grabbed a small tube filled with a powdery substance and poured equal amounts into each bottle.  After shaking vigorously Kuroishi handed one bottle to Raz. "Tell me if that tastes salty or not.  Too many of my taste buds are dead after doing this too long."  Kuroishi said. "Defintely salty."  Raz replied after dipping his finger in the solution then tasting it. "Excellent.  I'm glad I passed chemistry now."  Kuroishi said as he threw the two bottles. Upon impact there was a short bubbling then fog began to rise. Slowly the entire street became obscured farther then a few meters in any direction. Slipping quitely past Wraith managed to make good progress despite the poor visibility. When the squad finally was forced to move out of the fog bank they found themselves in an eerily unnoccupied part of the city.  Something was wrong.

Dal Kraas rarely went planetside anymore.  Not only was it dangerous for his physical well-being, it was painful to see his adopted home being ruined street by street, city by city.  Though most of the destruction was contained to the main cities, it was here, in Eriadu City that the anger and frustation of his efforts lay manifest. To this day, no one had managed to retake the diplomatic section that had once housed his mansion.  Indeed, it existed in the no-man's land outside of the government plaza.  He had seen holos shot from a scout team that once ventured there and though the internal fixtures lay in some sad state, thus far the structure remained relatively sound.  In time, he hoped to reclaim it, if not move on to grander quarters; say, the presidential palace. Woolgathering aside, he stormed from his shuttle and sprinted under the canopy that would shelter him from the still-toxic rains that blighted much of Eriadu.  Decorum be damned if he had to endure one of the decon showers for the recommended 45 minutes any more times than he had to.  Using his momentum to good use, he ran into the current command center, letting his bodyguards deal with the checkpoint authorizations.  The troops on station knew him by sight anyways. Along the way, Major Kenrith, the aide for General N'llent, caught up with him.  "Ambassador, we were not informed of your arrival.  Can I provide anything of service to..." He silenced as Kraas slowed down and held up a hand. "I am here for two reasons.  One, to check the disposition of our ground forces for myself and advise the General on what reinforcements we may garner in the coming weeks.  Two, I am also here to get an  update on the actions of our allies." Kenrith merely nodded. Minutes later, the young Major was at the head of a holoprojector and a room full of hastily assembled officers.  Delivering what was obviously a rushed collections of reports, he spoke for General N'llent and his staff. "As to you other request," Kenrith continued, "we have heard nothing from Wraith squad since they entered the major contested area west-northwest of our lines.  They were lead to a commonly used transit route that our infiltration teams discovered and moved on from that point.  As of that point, we have heard nothing from them. "The other squad, Jester, has been in motion from an outpost not far from here.  One or two members have been ferried up to the various orbital stations to assess our defenses while others have moved amongst our motor pools and defensive fortifications.  As requested, we have given them free access to our frontline installations.  Yet we have not received progress reports from them either." Kraas kept his silence and the meeting continued along the lines of a possible offensive.  Obviously, this would not do for the report he would have to file with the Vast Empire concerning the progress of the teams they had sent.

Raziel forced himself to take a bite of the stale bread, the surface cracked beneath his teeth. The bread turned almost to dust as he chewed on it, he allowed himself the pleasure of a mouthful of water to ease his parched throat.     Days had become weeks and still they had not breached the rebel lines. Infact they had been lucky even to survive the initial ambush.     Someone didnt want them to complete their mission, or even for that matter return to kraas. It seemed everytime they tried to advance forwards or backwards theyr were quickly cut off by tanks and troops. Raziel briefly wandered if Jester had been ambushed aswell, before realising he couldnt care less.     They were surviving now off of their last rations and any food that Raziel managed to steal from the rebel troops, the last mission had been a rather painful failure and Raziel hadn't tried for a few days. Fortunately a lot of the rebel troops used modern blastech weapons, so ammunition was plentiful.     Raziel had already made his decision. Against the odds they would succeed in their mission.     "Sir!" Narroc called. He was high up above Raziel in the ruins of an old building, stolen sniper rifle trained on the road ahead.     "What?" Raziel hissed, as he spoke he heard clicking and shuffling noises as the rest of his squad prepared there weapons. There were no more green soldiers in Raziel's squad. A month of solid urban fighting had seen to that.     "I see movement, i think its Kuroishi. I could be wrong though. No its him."     "How can you tell?"     "He looked right at me and stuck his middle finger up sir," Narroc called down.     "Right you are let him past."     A few minutes later Kuroishi walked past Grizzly into the wraiths temporary shelter. His dirty covered facial features could barely been seen in the dark.     "Found something quite interesting," he smiled.     "The rebels?"     "Most have widthdrawn from the area, seemed like they were all heading southwest, towards the frontline. The tanks and mobile groups were getting together to the south though. I just get the feeling they're going to come after us again soon."     "I fail to see how any news was more important than that?" Raziel replied, smiling.     "Just a mile from here theres an old agri-dome. I had a look inside and it was mostly intact."     "Not bad, any food there?"     "Plenty of plants and fruits yes, but it also had its own chemical factory underneat. Just a small one."     "And?" Raziel said, letting Kuroighi finish.     "Plenty of things i could use for explosives there. I'm not sure about putting anything that useful together, but the basic chemicals needed for making some pretty nasty stuff were all there."     "Good good, if we can just get something together to give us some chance against armour i think we might be on our way soon." Raziel noticed that the squad had already gathered around.     "Narroc linger around a bit longer, then come after us. Kuroishi lead the way. How do you all feel about getting some pay back?" ===========================================     Meanwhile Kraas was talking privately with Major Kenrith. The major's hands were shaking as he impatiently argued his point.     "But Major," Kraas went on, speaking slowly and calmly. "You seem to forget that our spies could still return. I don't want to waste anything more than i have to in retaking land that was mine untill recently."     "The Vast empire scouts won't be back i'm sure of it! Most likely they've played us for fools and have given the rebels information about our own position! I have shown you the sattelite picture i had taken, the rearguard is lightly defended!" Kenrith bit his lower lip, realising how much he had raised his voice. The furious berating he had expected never came. Instead Kraas went on as before.     "I realise that the imperial troops might have failed in their mission, but that Major is out of the question. However i have to prepare for any outcome. Reinforce the fron lines and have your men prepare to attack the Rebel intrusion's rearguard. Remember it was your men who lost me that ground in the first place. Let them know i am not pleased." Kenrith's face turned a deep red.     "You can leave now, i feel we may still regain some victory from the situation."     As the major left the room he instantly regained a lot of his composure.     "Yes Kraas, i think i might just gain something from the stuation."

[If this seems a bit wierd don't mind I'm still working on the New Years episode of Varneck Inheritor Nergal.] The fighting neer that retirement home filled with savage rebel senior citizens had taken it's toll in time but it seemed to be the catalyst needed to propel Wraith back into action.  At least he was wrong about retirees having more get up and go then Wraith, and Kuroishi was glad to be wrong. The agrodome had provided some much needed supplies for Wraith but they would still need to figure a way to break out. Kuroishi's knowledge of chemistry was well rounded but he knew he wouldn't be able to do too much if the right chemicals were not in the plant. Kuroishi chuckled to himself after laying eyes on his inventory to work with. "I need piping of some sort and something to cap it with, and lots of both."  Kuroishi said gleefully as he started gathering up fertilizer.

[/me stares at the plot contnuity fairy assigned to this story and growls.  Unfortunately no ninja to kill this one for me, drat.] After becoming engrosed in his work Kuroishi had lost track of where the rest of Wraith had gone off to.  Right now he didn't care.  His Fallen Angel instincts were propelling him forward.  Though he nor any Fallen Angel other then Deathwookie had never killed a civilian the amount of terroristic ability and knowladge in the squad was still quite a thing to behold. Now was time to put it to use again. Kuroishi finished mixing several pebbles in with the explosive as he filled his last tube.  Capping it he moved out.  Things were going to suddenly get very uncomfortable for the rebel leader. Kuroishi snaked his way past various rebel strong points to his intended target. After looking over some blueprints for the city provided to Wraith for this mission Kuroishi had deduced several high priority targets to strike if things went bad and they most certainly had gotten bad.  The first on his list was a foundry. What made this target so appealing is that it sat on top of a natural gas pipeline junction. The advantage of being by oneself was that it was a hell of a lot easier to sneak around. The likelyhood of there still being flamable gas in the pipe was actually good since the backup power generator for the foundry was powered by natural gas.  All Kuroishi had to do was introduce the nice hot moulten metal to the nice flamable gas. Despite not being the explosives nut Argon was, Kuroishi still knew exactly how to pull this off. To transfer the blast to a specific point along the line was nigh imposible.  So Kuroishi decided so that he wouldn't have to set a huge delay so he could get to a safe distance in time he needed a three stage plan.  First close the jucntion so he could have a path to retreat along.  Second create a path from a vat of moulten metal to the pipe.  Third set off explosive device to allow vat's contents to spill along said path. Kuroishi knew which way the gas flowed and which direction to run after setting the time delay.  Some time delay was essential since natural gas explosions had a nasty habit of affectin anywhere from only a few meters to several miles depending on how much gass there was and the kind of hole in the pipe. Kuroishi managed past one last patrol before entering the complex. Making his way over to the junction control at inhumanly fast speeds for how quiet he was, Kuroishi began shutting off the valve thus blocking futher progress of the gas along the pipe line. Kuroishi found a control panel and began manuevering one of the crates with a full vat of moulten metal over the pipe.  Lowering it to where he could reach the bottom he pulled out a roll of space tape and attached one of his non-cluster explosives to the vat and threw the extendid fuse into the vat's contents. Exiting as fast as he could while still maintaining his low profile he made his way back to minimum safe distance. After about ten minutes a small explosion was heard followed five minutes later by a much larger explosion. Kuroishi could only imagine the kind of metal, both solid and moulten, fragements were now falling on enemy troop's heads. Satisfied that his work for the day was done Kuroishi returned to the agrodome avoiding patrols the whole way.

"Kuroishi's gone to stir up some trouble Lukas," Raziel smiled.     Lukas popped his head up from the rubble, quickly ducking back down again.     "Ok they've caught up with us again," Raziel took a look for himself. The same four tanks moved silently down the street towards them. Following the tanks was an understrength platoon of men. Understanding the danger now the soldier's moved quickly from cover to cover.     Earlier that day the rebel force had decided to flush out Wraith squad and finish them off, just as Kuroishi had thought. This time the Wraiths had been prepared. They had already dug in and were ready when the rebels pulled out from the area and started shelling it. When the troops had moved in to finish them off Wraith had been waiting.     The rebel platoon quickly fled the area after just a singly volley of fire from the hidden wraith squad. When the tanks had rushed into the area the Wraiths had already pulled back.     And so all day this had been going on, Raziel and his men had been leading the rebels on whilst wittling their numbers down. Only two injuries had been sustained so far; Lukas had taken a hit to the head as rubble fell onto him and Bronx's arm had been slashed badly by shrapnel when he hadnt run quite fast enough.     Raziel smiled as the Rebels kept moving on, where there had been five tanks there were now four and where there had been fifty men there were now twenty. The rebels were still confident in the knowledge that Wraiths would only harm the tanks through a lucky shot.     Grizzly fidgeted with two pieces of wire, the tanks were beginning the get close now. One of the wires led to a line of small ceramic pots littering the street.     Lukas trained his rifle on one of the sergeants, whilst the rest of the squad checked over their weapons.     As the tanks began to pass over the explosives grizzly touched the two wires together. The explosives went off right under the first three tanks. As the tanks fell heavily to the ground Narroc, Yun and myrrdin started firing from a building behind the Rebels. Panicking the soldiers dived for cover and ran from the street, not even trying to return fire.     The tank turned around in a long graceful curve, it's turret turing towards Narroc's position.     Raziel caught a glimpse of a wraith diving from cover before the building was turned to rubble in a few shots.     As Grizzly and narroc opened fire from the end of the street Raziel broke from cover and sprinted towards the tank. He was fortunate to get there, but when he did he rolled a stolen grenade down the barrel as the turret turned slugishly towards Lukas' position. =========================================== Meanwhile back at Kraas' base.....     "Kenrith there may be complications."     "What do you mean by that?" Kenrith was sat at his desk talking to into a blank screen, a secure icon flashed in the corner. The lights were dimmed and kenrith was sat facing the door.     "Well my men had Wraiths pinned and were ready to have them finished when they were ambushed. We tried to find their squad afterwards, but we've lost them."     "I thought you had a whole platoon of men and a tank squad ready?"     "Somehow they got some explosives together and took out the tanks, don't worry though we've closed our lines there is no way they can get back to Kraas to report."     "You incompetence worries me, maybe i would be better off working for Kraas again?" Kenrith breathed heavily for a minute, regaining his short temper.     "Anyway, what about the other squad?" He continued.     "No sign of them, we weren't able to pin them down so we chased them out of the city. I don't think we'll hear from them for a while."     "Good at least you got something right. Well prepare your defences. I almost have Kraas ready to attack and you need to make the retreat look plausable. If i suceed this city will be yours."     "And you will be handsomly rewarded."     "Oh i'm sure i will. I have a plan to cover up your failures already"     "We will always be grateful for your co-operation."   ----------------------- SL/SGMTRaziel/4SQD/1COMP/1BAT/1RGT/Tadath/VEA/ {EW1} {WoS} {VP} Squad Leader - Squad4 Wraiths "Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music." [Fun fun fun in the sun sun sun] Kuroishi's little bang had been quite an impresive display, but it hadn't drawn enough attention to the wrong area of the city.  It still managed to do some seriour damage to the industrial sector and a better part of a battalion of troops stationed in the area. Most importantly the manpower tied up to put out the fire that Kuroishi had managed to start would be helpgull in getting some freedom of movement back. Kuroishi managed to get back to Wraith's position in time to watch the last tank go boom. Adding his own deadly accurate fire to that of Wraith's other mebers the remainder of the enemy infantry quickly were no longer a threat. "Report."  Raziel said bluntly as Kuroishi found the improvised camp site of the day. "I managed to start one heck of a fire and do some damage to a mixed battalion and the number of fire control teams neccesary to get that under control should draw some men from the patrols.  Unfortunately there were no increased patrols in the area after the incedent which means they either don't care or they're smarter then the ussual commanders."  Kuroishi replied. "Bring back anything usefull?"  Raziel added. "Some blaster packs and rations from a patrol I came across and had to eliminate.  Don't worry no 'modern art' statues for them to find."  Kuroishi answered after sitting down to some of his own rations. Kuroishi filled all the space taken by his now not preasent door openers with rations and a few chemical supplies.  With what they had managed to retrieve at the agrodome they had managed to make some nasty suprises for any armor units that decided to track Wraith down. [I'd do more but class is going.]

Augustus stopped dead in his tracks. He blinked slowly several times and took a good, hard look around himself. There was his squad, that was good, familiar, excellent. Alright. Oh, there were his weapons, pistols he had owned since before he could really remember. Now... What were they doing again? He looked confusedly at the more senior members of his squad and asked them just that, "I'm sorry, this is going to sound a bit odd, but what are we doing, again?"

Finishing her shift at long last, Jix Midanyl returned to her quarters. Maintenance on an orbital factory was interesting work, but still hard. She closed the door and went to her computer terminal. She had a message waiting. Reading it quickly, she deleted all traces of it. She smiled and got into bed, not really intending to sleep, but setting an alarm to wake her in case she did. She’d spent the last six months working 12 to 14 hours a day, so it was easy to sleep these days. She had just drifted off to sleep when her alarm woke her. She got up, dressed and took a duffel bag out from under her bunk. Taking two S-5 blaster pistols out, she put them in their holsters and stowed some extra rounds in her belt. Jix opened her door quietly, looked up and down the corridor, then slipped out. She made her way silently through the corridors, stopping now and then to avoid being seen by one of the security patrols that seemed to be everywhere recently. She figured she was probably one of very few people that knew why this would be the case. She made her way to the main computer room of the factory, still careful to avoid the security personnel. Much to her pleasure, there was no one posted in the computer core and if she kept quiet, the patrols should leave her alone. She took a terminal in the corner, out of the view of security cameras. Cursing the few skills she had rushed to learn, Jix found her way into the computer and what she was looking for. She’d already been here for about 2 hours and probably couldn’t afford to stay much longer. She loaded the information onto two data cylinders, just to be safe, and encrypted both. The version that remained on the computer, she replaced with a flawed copy of plans for a preybird starfighter. She covered her tracks carefully and made her way silently back to her quarters. She could get a few hours sleep before she had to be back at work. It was the day she was rostered to be passenger in a parts shuttle headed for Eriadu. She could easily go AWOL from there and return with the plans and her mission complete. Jix woke the next morning to someone bashing on her door. She got up and opened it. “What.” Through bleary eyes she recognised the pilot of the parts shuttle for today. “Oh crap, I’m late?” He nodded and she closed the door on him, dressed, packed all her stuff in a duffel bag, and opened the door again. He led the way to the hangar and they readied the shuttle for launch. As she usually did, she let the pilot do all the work and sat around waiting till it was time to actually leave. She quickly checked that she had all her equipment, as she wouldn’t be returning to the factory any time soon. She’d stolen a few packs of rations over the past weeks so she wouldn’t have to rush her return home. Finally the shuttle was ready for launch and she could sleep through the trip down to the planet. “Alright, I’ll see you back here in a few hours. If I’m late, you don’t have to wait. I’ll get a transport up or something.” The pilot nodded, though he did think that was a little strange. Jix headed off toward the building she had lied about needing to go to. As soon as the pilot headed off to do his duties, she took a turn towards the front line. Eriadu city. She’d watched the situation here deteriorate for the past 6 months, from space. Now that she was actually here she didn’t feel so happy about her mission. Ducking into an abandoned building, she changed into more suitable clothing for the combat she was likely to face soon. With any luck the situation today would be much like it had been last night when she’d studied it for a while to find the best way through all the fighting. Luck. Yeah, right. By the time the parts shuttle had departed for the factory again, Jix was some distance from its landing site. She looked at the time and laughed a little. He hadn’t waited longer than 30 seconds over the agreed time. As she moved into an area more densely populated with troops, she decided it would be best to hide out until it got dark. Finding a nicely abandoned building that was still, mostly, in one piece, she sat down to wait. It would only be a couple of hours, and that was nothing to the 6 months she’d already been waiting. Jix got out her macrobinoculars and scanned the scene before her. She laughed quietly as she watched Wraith squadron fighting off what remained of a platoon of men and a bunch of tanks. They seemed to be handling themselves pretty well, so she kept moving. So far she had found no trace of the people she was looking for, but all in all, that was probably a good thing. She hadn’t met much opposition yet, but that was mostly because she was working very hard at not being seen. Travelling at night helped, but it meant that sleeping was dangerous unless she could find a really good hiding place. And that usually meant it was cramped and rather uncomfortable. Having to kill anyone that found her complicated the matter too, drawing unwelcome attention to her position. A good thing she’d bought herself a vibroaxe just for this mission. Her progress was better even than she had expected, with the exception of the troopers whose throats she’d had to slit. The section of the front line she had hoped to cross was even less populated than she’d anticipated, and she gained a whole day through a few areas that had obviously become useless to stay in for the troops. But still there were no signs of the people she was after. If she didn’t find them in a few days, she may just have to give up and head home alone. That wouldn’t make her very happy, despite this being a voluntary part of the mission. Stowing her macrobinoculars back in her pack, Jix smiled. Finally, she’d found them. And they were well outside the combat areas, so she figured it was safe to make contact. She’d moved all night and day this time, and so waited until it was dark. When their leader was alone, she would contact him so as not to alarm everyone and get herself shot. Kiption was sitting alone, looking as his feet, thinking. It had been a long time since they had been deployed. They’d been doing some minor recon, but he didn’t fancy getting the whole squad killed, so they had mainly stayed out of danger. The only time they really ventured close to the front was to steal rations, which were becoming short, and ammunition. He looked around, and froze as he heard a noise behind him. “Bang, you’re dead. No. Don’t turn around just yet.” The voice sounded familiar, but he couldn’t quite place it right now. Jix had her pistol pressed against the back of his head. “I don’t want to alarm the rest of the squad.” Kip nodded slightly and Jix laughed, holstering her pistol. She stepped around in front of him and laughed again at the expression on his face. “What the.. how did you.. what are YOU doing here?!” At this, the rest of the squad turned their attention to Kip and Jix. Stitch jumped up. “Merrick! But you’re retired! What the hell..?” Merrick put up her hands to silence them. “Long story, gimme some food and water, and I will think about telling you.” Setting down her rifles and axe, she sat down and accepted the rations handed to her by Stitch.

Merrick quickly downed the nutrient bar in the rations pack and took a swig of the water from the canteen.  She ate quickly and in silence as most of Jester watched her intently, hoping for an explanation. Ugh.  She wasn't kidding about only thinking about telling us what's up.  That's pretty damn evil of her.  Stitch grumbled inside his mind.  He threw himself back into the makeshift chair that was more a piece of a wall that had been blown out from the constant fighting.  His gaze wandered to Tylen, who was by himself.  The two metallic spheres that he had kept with him the entire time were now being spun in a circular path in his right hang.  The boy was staring off into space.  Probably doing that stupid Jedi meditation shit.  I wish he'd knock that off. A distant explosion caught the attention of the group.  However, Tylen continued to stare at nothing.  A wide grin now invaded his face.  Dragoon chuckled and Stitch only sighed.  Tylen stood and stowed his disguised bombs in a pouch on his belt.  "Wraith is about four kliks to the southeast.  From what I can sense, they're in combat now." Tylen said coolly.  Sensing the question in the minds of his comrades, he finished, "That explosion to the west was a Rebel equipment compound.  My experience with Griffen Sect has taught me to do the unexpected.  They are now short a good amount of reinforcements and arms."  The grin on his face turned from that of satisfaction, to one of pure bloodlust. Augustus dropped a hand to his blaster subconsciously.  "Frickin' Jedi.." he murmured as he turned away to return to the adjustments he was performing on his backup blaster. Kiption stood and took a sweeping glance over his squad.  His sweep ended on Jester's most recent addition, the reappearing Merrick.  "Ok Clowns, we make our move in the morning.  We're going to cut to the south and sweep around to flank Wraith's enemies.  We're going to have to haul ass, so get your rest while you can."  He took one more glance in the other direction and finished, "Sokudo, you're on watch." "Dammit." Jester's friendly neighborhood ninja growled as he stood from his crouch in a corner.  He adjusted his blaster's holster and drew his sword as he took up the watch position.

"Guess my story will have to wait till we're on our way home." Merrick grinned at the look she received from Stitch. Finding a reasonably comfortable spot to lay down, she fell asleep almost instantly, cuddling her sniper rifles and with her vibroaxe in easy reach.

[As to someone's question about why we are here:  We are here to escalate the war into one heck of a long bloody stalemate.  Gee sounds like a mission statement of a few of my former unit postings.] The fighting had signifigantly reduced in intensity after the tanks had been blasted apart.  Either both sides were running low on ammunition or the enemy was just waiting for reinforcements. "We can either wait here for someone else to force the issue of what we do next or we can decide for ourselves and actually start getting ourselves out of this jam."  Raziel addressed his demoralized squad. Kuroishi sat and thought, he knew he could do this mission still but he would need the rest of Wraith to step up to the demands placed on them. Things never go the way one plans.  That was one of the first things Kuroishi remembered being taught almost 30 years ago when he got his first officer's commission. Now he was determined to see no more good soldiers die pointlessly and if that meant fighting dirty then by all means he'd break every moral, ethic, and/or law in existance.  It also helped that he was more unbalanced then his other self. "Unless we can get the rest of these guys inspired Raz, we don't stand a chance of acomplishing our mission.  I might have had a chance in hell if I had my VMA, normal selection of rifles, and normal selection of explosives.  This stuff I've managed to mix up is definately good and usable but it is still far more bulky then the real stuff that's made in factories.  Eventually we will also run out.  So far we've been lucky that the enemy hasn't brought in more tanks supported by more infantry."  Kuroishi said as he put the finishing touches on another pipe bomb. "True, but we've still managed to stay alive this long."  Raziel replied. Kuroishi just sat and worked on more makeshift explosives losing himself in thoughts and plans on top of plans on top of plans.

Merrick beckoned to Kip and he joined her behind her piece of rubble. "Looks like they are mostly leaving Wraith alone for the moment. Should we go get them?" Kip shook his head. "Knowing Wraith, they'll have explosives set up around their camp and a sniper keeping watch. Can't just walk in." Kip flicked on his comm-link and called Raz. After a quick conversation Kip turned back to Merrick. "You get to go in first, make sure you have your hands up so they don't shoot you. Report back with their situation and we'll think about getting out of here." Merrick nodded and started off towards where Wraith were hiding, keeping behind pieces of rubble as much as possible. She put her hands up as she neared the entrance, waving slightly to where she would be if she was the sniper defending the position, and wandered in.

Dragoon leaned his head back and stretched his arms.  Time traveled very slowly when you were bored.  His blaster rifle stood upright against a slag of rock about four feet away, and his pistol hung at his side, ready to draw. Ready to draw.  Ready to draw.  In one movement he stood, turned around, and had his pistol pointing directly at Tylen.  "Bang Jedi, you're dead," he said, laughing as he put the pistol back in his holster. Tylen turned slowly and stared at Dragoon's big grin.  "I was busy, and you disturbed me."  Dragoon stumbled back a few steps and sat down again. "Damn Jedi," he mumbled quietly to himself.  "Looks like I have to have fun by myself, as usual.  This job sucks."

Afyon disengaged his hyperdrive and entered the system about twenty-kilometers from Eriadu.  His orders from General Fury were to report to his squadron immediately even though they were on mission and from what he had heard, under siege. Afyon engaged his engines at top speed and closed in rapidly on the planet.  He needed to find a nice big spaceport bustling with what he hoped would be pirate activity.  Afyon was not aware of the orders given to Wraith squad about weaponry so he had brought his typical commando gear.  Of course being in the middle of a war, security would be tight and it would be no easy manner to escape customs. After half an hour of searching, Afyon finally found a busy spaceport six kilometers north-east of the main troop garrison and a sufficient distance away from the immense downtown area of the city.  After identifying himself and his business, Afyon slowly piloted to the spaceport and landed.  Now came the tough part...

[Hmmm... Familiar pattern oh well maybe I can help getting this plot moving again] Kuroishi left his position and snuck up behind Merrick. "Not a bad sniper check but when you spend as much time doing this sort of thing as I have you learn to not be where people look.  Improves survival rate in artillary barrages."  Kuroishi said startling Merrick. "Not many people get away with sneaking up on me.  Due to our current situation I think I must make an exception once again."  Merrick replied, annoyed. "The last of the infantry sent to hunt us down is either pinned down or has dropped out of fighting.  We can pretty much pull out to wherever in a few moments.  Travel time added of course." Kuroishi and Merrick walked quietly the rest of the way to the improvised camp.  Now it would be up to the squad leaders to decide the next move.

Afyon turned the safety off of his pistol, grabbed his bags, and walked slowly towards the entrance to the spaceport.  He decided that if he paid cash on registering they would not care as much about searching him or his bags.  Spaceport operators were notoriously for cheating regs if there was an instant buck to be made. Fortunately, Afyon had stolen fifty thousand credits before coming to help make his way in the easy way.  Afyon walked slowly to the doors.  There were detectors up ahead to scan for weapons.  He looked around for something to create a diversion, he saw a pile of greasy rags that had been dropped by a mechanic who was fixing a tool cart by the door. Afyon slowly crept over to the pile and lit it on fire with his lighter.  It burst into flames almost instantly searing the mechanic who was bent over at the cart.  Afyon began yelling fire and ran towards the other side of the doors.  The guards at the scanner ran towards the mechanic while Afyon snuck in the furthest door and raced through the scanners.  The hardest part was now over, so he thought.

Major Kenrith sat in his room brooding. The recent rumours of a spy amongst Kraas' officers were beginning to worry him. Kraas rewarded hard work well, but Kenrith could only imagine how he would treat a traotor. Once more he would be forced to act quickly. He had few allies amongst the imperial supporters, but he would have to call in some favours.     Kenrith began to smile at his own resourcefulness, once more he would turn things to his own favour.     Kraas looked the patient up and down. His eyes stayed fixed on the man for a good two minutes, before flicking back up to the Major.     "And you are sure this man is from the squad?" he asked.     "Quite sure, he's definately Private First Class Bronx. We gave each member of the squads a security word to use."     "If you're absolutely sure that this man is who he says he is. I wouldnt want to be taking in an enemy spy here." Kraas raised an eyebrow and looked at Kenrith.     "No sir, my men found him curled up in a ball dying yesterday morning. It was in the suprise offensive."     "Good good, so lad what happened?" Kraas turned towards 'Bronx'     "Well we managed to get behind there lines fine, we didnt even have to kill many of them. We surveyed the enemy forces and found things as expected.     "There rearguard was lightly guarded as you said, but then on the way back we were ambushed. Almost everyone was killed in the first few seconds, only myself and the SGM escaped. I don't know what happened to him, but he might return soon. I think you must have a traitor amongst you men Kraas."     "Are you saying this is my fault?"     "Yes if it wasnt for you this never would have happened! My squad would still be alive!"     "Silence! I still have to decide what to do with you!" Kraas shouted. Kenrith smiled, this man was a good actor.     Kraas signalled to Kenrith, who followed him to one side.     "Who knew about the VE troops?" he asked Kenrith     "A lot of men sir, at least a hundred troops helped them leave."     "What do you think about tomorrow then?"     "Well i dont think that this traitor is very high up and certainly wouldnt know about the attack yet, but i'd suggest we used more men. As soon as we order the attack they'll know about it."     "Yes yes very good, work on it. Oh and get this traitor's head."     "Of course sir."     "Oh and Kenrith, good work." The Major smiled breifly then left the room.     Kraas looked at bronx one more time before he was carried out. What had that been in his eyes? Fear? He looked back sharply and saw the same thing. What did that mean? Kraas sat down heavily. It had all seemed to be going to plan, but there was something wrong here, he had such a strong feeling he wasn't in control anymore. ===================================== (i'll post again later this evening)
