“You know what? It’s much better when you’re not being half-idiotic.”

“I’ll need to do better then.”

“In what?”

“Being on idiot of course…Duh…That’s why I’ll forever be a terminal lance.”  John chuckled, giving the scout a very lopsided grin.  Despite the two having one previous mission under a common belt, Kilroy found it rather easy to get along with the junior Blackjack member and had formed a decent level of cooperation with him.  Moving along the outer edge of the hanger bay, the two continued to check for anything that looked suspicious or out of the ordinary.  Their sweep was relatively quiet until Crest sprung a question that caught the Cadian completely off guard.

“Why do you do it?  You know the whole eccentric demeanor that you tend to show everybody in the squad?”

“Wha?”

“Oh come on now corporal, I wasn’t born yesterday and I can tell that you weren’t bluffing earlier.  So what’s the deal?”

“Coping mechanism I guess, and I don’t know when it started, but it helped when old horrors came back to haunt me.”

Barely sensing the change in stance coming from the Blackjack scout, Kilroy could tell that his honest response made the younger trooper that much more curious.  It was rare for him to confide such things to anyone outside of a confessor or his fellow Cadian Cipher; a fact that Kilroy knew all to well that this gave him the appearance of someone that is quite often detached despite his friendliness.  Hmmm, to tell him or not to, that is the question….Naaaah I probably shouldn’t.  He thought, amused of the fact that there would be something that the private would know, something that was privy to only a few amongst billions in a galaxy.  Before the scout could even ask another question, John decided it would be best to let such things lie low for now.

“This is just my personal opinion, but I like to think that once you’ve reached a kill-streak as high as mine, there’s a very good chance that you either become eccentric at best or ax crazy at worst.”

“Heh, and just how high is your kill-streak?”

“My personal best?  I would have to say…68 million within a span of three hours.”

JESTER

“So how did you get the name Brightstar anyway?” Doregan continued dropping another security guard that had popped his head above his cover. Bright was beginning to see why his squad was called Raitonin.

She kept her mouth shut and kept her focus on the task at hand. Bright didn't mind his talking, it was keeping her grounded, keeping her from getting ahead of herself. “I'm moving forward. Cover me.” She said getting off of her stomach and crouching. She checked the charge on her rifle and nodded before counting down to her action.

Doregan only sighed, like it was an inconvenience that they were in the middle of a firefight. He signaled to one of his men further down the line, but still within sight. When he gave her the go ahead she dove out from behind her cover and toward another crate. Not for the first time she was glad that she wasn't wearing SCOPE armor. SCOPE armor was notoriously difficult to maneuver in, despite everything else that was good about it. Bright was a born infiltrator, and had made her living by being as flexible as possible, to get into places where other could not.

The black color, though working to the Jester's advantage at the moment, would stand out when they made their way out of the room they were in. When she was settled she took the opportunity to kill three more security guards. “I almost wish that I had the SCOPE HUD right now.” She muttered.

“I'm coming your way, Sarge.” Dunny called over his helmet's comlink. Apparently her second had followed her to the right  while the rest of her squad had gone left. It didn't really matter. Raitonin was holding their own and working well with her boys.

“I'll cover you.” She replied. Seeing a black mass that could only be Dunny, Bright turned her blaster rifle on anybody not wearing Jester black or Raitonin gray. By the time that Dunny had gotten to her side she had felled another four Liberty guards.

“So far all we've seen are Liberty forces. Think Needle has pulled back to protect their investment?” He asked.

Bright had been wondering the same thing. The forces that they had met so far had all been from the station. It worried her that Blanchard and Needle forces were waiting for them to get tired while they remained fresh and ready to fight. She growled. It was times like this when she wondered why she hadn't just disappeared into the mountains to become a hermit.

“I think that's part of it. We haven't seen Blanchard either. They could be wearing us down. Stay focused. We need to get out of this room.” She looked over at Keberu. “Doregan, time for Raitonin to live up to their name. We need to get out of this and fast.”

The Raitonin SL clicked his confirmation and drew back to confer with his men and women.

Therex was reloading his revolvers, when silence fell over the hangar. Therex looked over the crate he was hiding behind. Dead mercs lay all over the floor. Switching his comm, on Therex checked in with Bright.

"Um ma'am," he said, his voice a mix of bewilderment and awe, "I think we are done. Your buddies just finished cleaning up."

In response, Bright came out of cover and walked over to him and Dunny.

"Lets find our way out of here and get going," She said, surveying the carnage behind them.

Spreading out, they started looking for the best way out. After about five minutes, Dunny called from across the room. He had found a large blast door that led into another maintenance shaft that had vents branching out in every direction. One particular branch led to a room over the prison level. Bright looked over the map, and sighed.

"I guess if it's the only option, let's go."

On the other side of the door, were several doors about one meter across. Dunny walked in circles, checking his map. After five minutes of listening to Bright sigh, Therex saw a smile form on Dunny's lips, obviously he was purposely messing with Bright. Extending a hand, he pointed at one of the door.

"It should be about 20 meters that way."

Bright turned and walked back out the blast door. Turning towards Dunny, Therex shrugged and helped him get the door open. They were all locked with some sort of physical tumbler system.

"Hey Dun?" Therex asked, "Do we have any detonite?"

Dunny shook his head, and Therex sighed. It would take too long to pick something like this, with out the proper tools, and they didn't have powerful enough weapons to blast the door open. Therex grabbed his revolvers and spilled the bullets out into his hand. Next, he ripped some cloth from his coat, and spread it out on the floor. Prying off the lead slugs from the bullet cases, he dumped the powder inside the cloth and wrapped it up. Jamming the wad of cloth into a small opening near the handle. Him and Dunny ran to the door, and Therex slid a new bullet into the chamber on his gun. Aiming down the sights, he fired at the pouch.

A small explosion went off mere seconds later.  Bright ran around the corner and looked at he door. The blast blew off the lock and swung the door open. She slowly turned and growled quietly at Therex. Dodging her gaze, Therex ran over to the door and opened it all the way.

"Ma'am?"

RAIDERS

Xy watched Jae.  Was that fear I heard in her voice?  Jae and Dusk had already started to move ahead, but when Jae noticed Xy was just standing there staring at her, she picked up and threw Xy's helmet at her.  Xy caught it, still observing Jae.

"Put it on. Now!"  Jae's voice lashed out.

Impatiently, Jae turned on her heel and proceeded to trot up the hallway.  Xy pulled the helmet on, the lenses illuminating lavender after it was in place.  So, cold on the outside, but warm on the inside huh, Jae?  With her boots thumping, Xy quickened her pace to catch up to Jaenna and Dusk.  The trio came to a fork and Dusk and Jae each peered around a corner, cautiously leaning against the walls.  After indicating it was clear, Jae glanced at her data pad.

"This way." She nudged towards her right, clipped her data pad onto her hip and rounded the corner.  Dusk and Xy followed.

"Hey, so when we're outta here Xylonia, how about-" Dusk spoke low, but was cut off.

"Shhhhh! Do you hear that?" Jae had thrown her fist up in a hold signal as she spoke, tension on every word.

They held still and listened.  There was silence, but it was broken by muffled shuffling above them and a tinkling sound.  A small pellet, which started emitting smoke, fell out of a nearby vent in the ceiling.  Within moments they were completely engulfed.  Jae laughed robustly over the comm.

"Tear gas.  Lucky for us they don't know our Scope helmets are gas proof.  Pretend you are affected.  We'll have the element of surprise." Jae dropped to the floor and rolled around clawing her helmet, pretending to be in agonizing pain.  Dusk and Xy copied her, and they waited for the approaching attack.

They didn't wait long.  Six mercenaries wearing red armor and masks dropped from above.  Two stood over each Raider, cocky at the ease of their task. One of them reached down to grab Jae.  As soon as the man touched Jae, his head was sent rolling from his neck.  Jae was up on one knee, one of her blades held upright, crimson fluid slid down the edge to the floor and splashed against the sea foam lenses of her helmet.  Weapons started blasting and the mercenaries were screaming.  Xy swung her hips up over her chest and wrapped her ankles around the head of the mercenary standing directly over her.  Pulling him down with her legs, she drew her combat knife and sliced his neck as he came down into the floor.

Suddenly Xy was grabbed by her waist and thrown around a corner, where there was no enemy fire.  When she found herself on her back looking up into sea-foam lenses, Xy felt her cheeks burning.  Jae leapt up from her mounted position on Xy and flew around the corner, firing her blaster towards the ensuing chaos.

Blackjack

Blackjack seemed to idle forever; they were a squad that was designed to be the tip of the spear, diving into the worst of the combat a theater had to offer; they weren’t a squad designed to wait.

“Skarr? ETA,” Gates said, activating his comlink again.

“Imminent, boss. Sorry,” replied the Eclipse leader, sounding appropriately chagrined.

“Hurry it up - this is pretty damn important, you know,” Gates said. He shut the link; a scant ninety seconds later, the man of the hour finally showed up, his squad in tow. Army squads were starting to pile up in the hangar, and Eclipse quickly threw their armor on.

“Objective?” Skarr asked as he yanked on his torso piece.

“Defense codes, secured. We move out in sixty seconds,” Gates said, then spoke into his comlink. “Set up and get ready to ship out, ‘jacks! Crest, you’re on point!”

The infiltration specialist gave a quick thumbs-up from forward in the hangar and opened the door. Valthir shrugged up from his leaning position against one of the damaged freighters in the hangar; Fain and Aelin stood up as well, ready to move. Eclipse managed to finish fitting themselves a few seconds before Gates’ time passed, and the two squads began to move out as one.

The corridors leading from the hangar were under Imperial control, army squads deploying further forwards as they secured an expanding beachhead on the space station.

“The Blanchards likely have the codes secured in this postion,” Orr said, bringing up a map on his, Gates’, and Skarr’s HUDs. “This is a set of penthouse levels, high-class, well secured and the safest and most prestigious areas of the entire station.”

“So they’re going to be in force?” Gates asked, pointing down a hallway; Crest took lead, sweeping his rifle to and fro. “Blanchards, Needle and station security?”

“Likely. Needle still wants to make the handoff, and in the chaos,” Orr said. “If there’s no clear chain of command for Blanchard, the underlings just might make a move.”

“Great, New Republic special forces and mercs,” Skarr sighed.

“They’ll not be able to withstand our might,” Gates spoke confidently. “We’ve bloodied Blanchard’s nose on multiple occasions, and there’s no way Needle forces can be out of our playbook.”

“Boss, I found a speeder system,” Crest’s voice crackled in Gates’ ear. “Looks it can take us deeper into the station.”

“Good job - grab it,” the SL replied. “We’re loading up, and we’ve got to move fast.”

Jack picked up a slugthrower from one of the fallen merc's and smiled. They were all still coughing and rubbing their faces from their own tear gas. She couldn't blame them for the mistake, most stormtrooper armor would have been susceptible to the gas but SCOPE armor fixed several of the issues typical stormy armor had. She flipped on her HUD to see through the smoke with infrared. The guards were coming in through the doorway, which clogged their numbers, keeping the tactical advantage on RAIDERS side.

Her mind ran through the numbers and calculated the possibilities and outcomes logging her results which remained in their favor. Her mind was exceptional when it came to tactics but getting her brain to shut up and let her sleep required large glasses of ale and stiff shots of whiskey.

Jack hadn't said much since they left the hanger, but it wasn't her job to socialize. Havock had sent her on this mission to be an impartial witness to the mission. Someone who could report back on everyone's activity not just the troopers.

Her eyes fell on the two female troopers who had fallen in a heap on the ground and rolled her eyes. She just couldn't wait to see the expression on Havock's face when she mentioned that.

Jack fired two shots throwing a merc into two others that were heading for the females. Jaenna was already up running towards some more mercs with her treppus blades, which just made Jack smirk. The girl had some spunk, must have been what Havock saw in her. She lowered her hand to Xylonia. "Need a hand beautiful?"

Xylonia grabbed the offered forearm and nodded. "Thanks Jack, where have you been?"

"Right here, care to join me in the shooting?"

"Of course."

RAIDERS

The near headshot made Heliwer very pissed, but seeing Joamer toss a grenade up into the air made everything seem better. When the squad leader had split up the group and he had been assigned to the current fire team, the big trooper felt upset. Joamer and he didn’t have many smooth patches in their career together, and Karash was severely pessimistic all the time. The beginning of their little adventure went somewhat smoothly, but when they got into the medical room and the patrol came by, things really went south.

Surprisingly, Karash took two grenades from his belt and prepped for the plan. Really there was no spoken plan. Just toss the two regular grenades at the door that would hopefully blow up, then the flash bang grenades would blind their foes so that they could be taken down easier.. Only one thing now was left to chance: how far the shrapnel would go. With a trademark sigh, Karash tossed his grenade at the same time Heliwer tossed his. The three took cover as the explosives rolled and bounced towards the door, and after five tense seconds, blew it off it’s hinges.

When they stood up, they quickly tossed the flash bangs outside and covered themselves from the blast. Shouts of pain and confusion following a loud bang was all they needed to get out and shoot the patrol dead. Didn’t take very long before the trio began making headway again, walking briskly through the hallways, trying to find their objective.

RAIDERS

Whiskey was reckless, stupid, crazy and… Jae shook her head, clearing the flush that had come to her cheeks after she had fallen on top of the other woman. Now, she sprinted toward gas engulfed mercs, Treppus blades shinning in the blood that had already been spilled. That stupid, idiot woman. Almost getting herself shot and shit. Jae grumbled as she pivoted to the right, feet colliding with the wall as she used her speed and momentum to run up and over a pair of mercs. With another jump, she was done from the wall, twisting her hips as she turned around to slash both of the mercs’ backs, attracting their attention. The men turned, only to gain another large slash across their chest, then have the edges of the blades shoved into the now exposed flesh, ending them quickly.

As the men fell from her blades, she grumbled again. Stupid gorram Whiskey. It wasn’t emotion, it wasn’t the same feeling she had for Havock, but there was the curiosity there. However, the woman knew she’d have to shove that aside and leave it for another time. As she saw Jack and Whiskey coming towards her, she wiped the blood from her blades onto the armor of the two men she had just killed. Insult to injury- er… death, rather. “’Ey. We gotta keep moving. Come on.” Her voice held the normal bit of anger it usually did, but still hidden behind the sea-foam of her visor was that light flush of her cheeks that would have given away her curiosity of the lavender haired faux-stripper.

Shoving that aside, yet again, she turned and held up her fist for a moment, then waved her hand forward for the tell-tale signal to keep moving. Though it wouldn’t ever be that easy at this point, with the smell of tear gas in the air and the sound of blasters going off echoing down the halls, it went without saying that they’d run into more mercs. “Whiskey, keep yer dman helment on. Jack, nice to have you with us. Dusk, be careful with your leg since yer hit. We’ll have Karash look at that.”

“Oh he’s gonna hate me…” Dusk mumbled as he put another charge into his blaster, trotting next to Jack and Whiskey.

“Shut up, he’ll deal with it.” Jae’s voice snapped back, as she continued to trot, rounding a corner only to see another group of mercs coming at them. “Behind the corner! Be sparse on ammo! We still got a way to go!” After sheathing her blades, she took out her trusty DC-15 and began firing around the corner as each pause from the mercs’ firing reached her ears. It was tough, adrenaline rushing, loud… Exactly what she liked about being in RAIDERS. It made her feel whole again, made her feel like she meant something. The protectiveness she felt over her troops felt even better.

Another merc fell and she growled, whispering to herself, “I want RAIDERS back.”

RAIDERS

Xy felt like a total and complete ass for ignoring Jack up until now.  She had been so focused on the mission that her beautiful and mischievous counter part was pushed out of her mind so that she would not be distracted.  I need to make it up to her.    The footsteps of more enemies came echoing down the corridors.  Panting, they made it to another fork, this time they found themselves in a moderately sized circular chamber, where the corridors expanded off of in five directions.  The echoes of footsteps seemed to be coming from all directions.

“Frakkkkk! Defensive maneuvers!!!” Jae screamed furiously.

Dusk planted himself behind the corner of one of the corridors, waiting with his blaster ready.  He also flexed the fingers of his cybernetic arm, ready to use it as a secondary weapon.

Jae planted herself behind the corner of the corridor next to Dusk’s.  She drew both her blades, holding them ready for anyone who approached.  The first of the advancing enemies appeared.  It was only two mercenaries.  Xy ran and slid on her side into the ankles of the first mercenary, his comrade directly behind him.  Jae screamed something at Xy, but her heart was pounding so hard in her ears that she couldn’t hear her.  Jack had heard Jae though, and was already sprinting toward Xy and the mercenaries.

The mercenary Xy had slid into had toppled over her and was now in a grapple with her.  Her fist punched into the man’s nose resounding in a loud crack.  He groaned in pain as he tried to rip her helmet off.  Jack used the momentum of her run to emphasize the kick she sent at the man’s head.  After a sickening thud, he collapsed into a motionless heap, trapping Xy underneath his weight.  Flicking out her blaster, Jack fell into a kneeling position, pushed up off her knee and rammed the butt of her weapon into the groin of the second mercenary.  A blaster bolt from Dusk sent the man sprawling onto his back.  After she pushed the unconscious mercenary off of Xy, she grabbed her by the neck and pulled her around the corner.

The rest of the mercenaries came tramping down the hallways.  Jae yelled over the ruckus, “We have to keep moving!  Follow me!”  She bolted down one of the corridors after quickly checking her data pad.  “Dusk, watch our backs!”

Dusk nodded grimly and waited for Jack and Xy to follow Jae before he jogged sideways, watching their back and ready to shoot any approaching mercenaries.  Xy tried to focus.  She didn’t want Jae or Jack to have to save her again.  Frakking nine hells.  I am so sick of being “saved.”  I can take care of myself.  Can’t I?   Jae drew her blades and readied them.  Jack and Xy both kept their blaster pointed at the ceiling, ready to use them should any enemies appear up ahead.

“I got your back Jae.  I’m not useless.”

RAIDERS

It should be me… It should be me! The voice wouldn’t quiet down, it continued to rage and claw at her mind, causing her helmet hidden face to contort in troubled anger. Joamer stole this Squad from me… He’s just turning it into Wraith. The ducts had been a thing of RAIDERS way back when, sure, but not nearly as much as they were now, not since Joamer somehow took the reins. It still baffled here how he had even come to command RAIDERS. What was Havock thinking? What was High Command thinking? It was Joamer who had gone rogue during a campaign… A loud grumble ripped through her helmet as she rounded a corner, coming into eyeshot of even more mercs.

“Dusk, Jack shoot their knees! I’ll handle the rest! Whiskey, cover me for the double-tap!” With the command thick in the air, and in the speakers of their comlinks, she took off towards the group of mercs, blades held in her normal ‘x’ position in front of her body as she sprinted. She heard blasters fire and watched as the first two men crumbled over as their knees were promptly taken out. As she passed by them, she leaned her blades down and quickly tipped their chins up with the tips of the Treppus blades, and then sliced. Following the slices were the sounds of a final shot from Whiskey that when straight into their chest, finishing them for good.

The groove was good, it was bloody, it was working. This is what being a RAIDER was about. Going in, quietly of course, then causing the chaos that the squad worked best in. If the entire mission was quiet, they’d get bored and do their own shit, but with a constant flow of chaos after their initial infiltration, and after their sneaky duties were filled… the Squad worked dammed well together. It’d be a lie if Jae said she didn’t enjoy going sneaky only, it’d also be a lie if she said she didn’t enjoy the chaos she was running through right now. There needed to be a balance, and her mind kept screaming at her that Joamer didn’t know how to do that.

RAIDERS will be mine again. The thought clawed at her mind once more as she felt yet another man slide off of her blade, then heard his last breath as the thud of Whiskey’s blaster bolt struck him in the chest. “Keep moving!” She shouted. They were close, they were almost there. Only a football field more of these hallways and they’d reach the power center that kept the enviro-rooms up and running. But the firefights were growing thicker, the mercs were multiplying. Some of them had armor that didn’t crumple at the knees.

They rounded another corner and Jae swore as she saw a large group of mercs and skidded to a stop, reach out her right arm and almost clotheslining Whiskey as she turned on her heel and back around the corner.

They are almost there. Take into count any injuries you want to. They were just sprinting through groups of mercs, and considering how the mercs are well trained and not so easily taken out don't think we got out of that sprint without any injuries. I only did basic description to save my word count. Also, my next post will be us getting to the destination, so please play on this firefight, and nothing more until I post again.

RAIDERS

Coadster opened the grate & went through it, having his combat knife and pistol held in which hand. Mox followed him, doing the same thing with his pistol and vibroknife. As they hid behind the tree Coadster spoke:

“We'll need to take out an incoming patrol before we move out of here.” Coadster said through the ComLink, having shutdown the speaker in his helmet.

“Of course. Stealthily, right?” Mox replied

“Yeppers. Let's do it quickly.”

“And then quickly get out of here.” Beta cut in “Otherwise, when they're gonna find out we've killed their patrol, they'll send search teams here.”

Mox clipped his weapons back and climbed the tree to the tallest point where, in the black SCOPE armor, he was still 'invisible'. Having taken out both of his vibroknifes he looked through the room, connected to the 'alley' street. The room itself was circular, looked like a bit like a bubble, excluding the floor. Like the whole station... Mox thought, just as a patrol came into the room, rifles ready.

“Patrol incoming. I count 4.” Mox said into his ComLink.

“Roger that, Mox. Lets take them out.” Coadster said.

“Sure. Lets wait 'til they get near the tree, then I'll climb down, and jump on two of them with my knifes. At the same time-”

“We kill the other two.” Coadster cut in “But do it quietly Mox.”

“Do I ever do anything loud?” Mox laughed into the ComNet.

As the patrol came near the tree Mox started to climb down the tree.

“Mox, as you can see them, you count when to attack.” Coadster said

“Fine.” Mox said, happy to have some responsibility “3... 2... 1......... NOW!”

Mox jumped off the tree and landed on two of the mercs, killing them as he pierced their throat and body, respectively.

“What the?-” the other two mercs turned around, only to be killed as Beta and Coadster grabbed and stabbed them in the backs.

“We should hide them in the duct.” Beta said as he threw the merc he stabbed over his shoulder onto it.

“Good idea.” Coadster said, his voice sounding weird.

The team hid the bodies in the duct and immediately ran out of the 'bubble' room. They quietly jogged through the street.

“Patrol!” Coadster said as he dropped to the ground, behind a pile of rubbish.

Mox ran up the wall, clipping his vibroknife to the back of his belt, and grabbed a pipe that was coming out. He quickly climbed up the wall, using various pipes and ventilators as support. This must be the maintenance section. Mox thought, considering how messy the alley was. Beta had jumped behind a crate, on the other side of the street.

"Don't engage them, let them pass." Coadster whispered into the ComLink

Separated the Fireteam Charlie waited for the patrol to pass, and praying for them not to look into their hiding spots.

RAIDERS.

Kneeling down Joamer knew Fikk was not here, years of training and experience did not tell him this. The two week old dust layer on the floor told him this. Looking around slowly he knew this room was used as an energy reserve of some type only, every few weeks routine maintenance would be done in here but nothing beyond that. Nothing in the room was remarkable, simple backup energy storage containers, a big generator in the center providing power for something. Pipes, wires, conducts, ran the length of the ceiling and walls.

Looking over at Karash and Heliwer their faces told him the same thing. Tapping his comm he switched to a frequency only Jaenna and him could use. After a moment of silence he said quietly, "He's not here, this place is not highly used. I know I don't need to tell you this, but proceed with caution. We don't want him running."

Switching the frequency he picked the one he knew Coadster would be on, signalling to Karash to scout the hallway for a moment he said, "Fikk is not here, proceed carefully. If you see anything odd signal, and the cavalry will come."

A single click answered him as Heliwer scanned the room slowly from his spot against one the walls. Looking over at the younger man he wondered what he was thinking, he wondered what all of the squad was thinking. Even after a year of being in command he still felt odd, leading a group such as this was risky at the best of times. Downright insane at the worst, to have a squad stay as one unit yet stay so right on that line between right and court-marshaled was very difficult. The mental well-being of every member of his squad was something he constantly thought about, including Jaenna. What she was going through worried him the most right now, he knew the reasons why he just could not figure out how to help her.

Looking up he saw Karash step back inside and nod once. Standing up he pulled his DLT-20a in front of him as he said, "Alright, Fikk is not here so we now wait. Since we are literally almost right in between the other two points we need to find a shady spot and hold up in till we get word from one of them."

"Side room not far from here, never used much." Heliwer said as he shrugged. Something in the man's eyes made Joamer smirk for a moment before he half grinned. Signalling once he motioned for Karash to follow as he brought up the rear.

Moving quietly down the hallway he looked back into the room one last time before he lost site of the open doorway. It worried him the doorway remained open even if the room was never entered. Security procedures on this station may require all doors to remain open at all times, if that was the case their situation would get even more annoying. Even though walking the hallways in blatantly enemy armor stood out enough by itself.

JESTER

Vents! Bright once more found herself in the ventilation system, in enemy territory and near panic. She couldn't say why it was so much easier to wear her armor than it was to clamber around in the slightly larger ventilation shafts.  I'm going to murder whoever had this brilliant idea. She thought inwardly. Unwilling to show her fear of enclosed spaces to her troopers, Bright instead did the only thing that would keep her from loosing it; she got angry.

Behind her in the shaft was the Raitonin squad leader. Dimly she could hear him humming to himself. If she were to look back she would probably have seen him nodding his head to the beat that only he could hear. In front of her was Therex and Lightray in front of him. At least they knew where they were going. That was always a good sign.

“Looks like we've got another fifty yards or so.” Light informed the rest of them.

Bright bit her lip and just focused on moving forward another fifty yards. Passing over a maintenance grate the Jester SL stopped. There were Blanchard mercs in the hallway below them. She could only hope that their passage would go unnoticed.

****************
“Trep, you hear that?” A medium built man asked, pushing back a strand of blond hair that had fallen into his eyes. His blue eyes searched the hallway in front of him and then behind him.

“Hear what, Strobe?” A gruffer man asked. He was bigger and taller than Strobe. “All I hear is you being paranoid.”

“I'm not paranoid, I'm cautious. There is a difference.” Frustration filled the tone of his voice as he continued to search for the sound that had been making it's way to his cybernetic enhanced ears. He narrowed his eyes to concentrate. “Sounds like its coming from....” His voice trailed off as he looked up.

“The vents eh?” Trep grunted. “Smart little buggers. But not quiet enough.” He grinned behind the faceplate of his helmet and held up three fingers. He counted down slowly before firing off his repeating slug thrower. The slugs either imbedded themselves into the metal of the shaft or pierced right through it. “Damn rats are huge in this station.” The big man laughed.

*****************
From the moment that Bright heard the slugs hit the shaft she could swear that her heart had suddenly stopped beating. “Frak!” She cursed. “I knew something would go wrong.” Gritting her teeth, she growled. “Move your asses troopers. I do not want to die in this thing, now double time!” While storm commando armor was great for maneuverability, it wasn't so great at stopping lead slugs. For every moment that passed in the vent taking fire, Bright had moved forward another ten feet. Finally they reached the end of the shaft and found a ladder leading down. “Time to roast us some Blanchard scum.” She called to her men.

OOC:
500 exactly. Jester and Raitonin squads have finally gotten to the end of the ventilation shaft that they were taking. However, thanks to cybernetically enhanced hearing. Blanchard mercs have found us and are going to engage. Have fun y'all.

“Boss, I found a speeder system,” Crest’s quickly spoke. He continued, “Looks it can take us deeper into the station.”

“Good job - grab it,” the boss replied. “We’re loading up, and we’ve got to move fast.”

Crest smiled at the prospect of finally being able to have some...fun. He hefted the A280 up and swept sights over what he could see of the inside of the speeder from the outside.

Tilting his vision so that he could see his fellow Private First Class, Crest spoke, “Come on, Fain; I’ll ‘convince’ the driver to help us, and you can make sure we don’t have any fellow passengers on this trip. Alright?”

“Sure.”

“Let’s go then.”

Almost as one, Crest and Fain vaulted over the slight barrier that had been serving as their cover and trotted up at a leisurely pace to the still airspeeder. As the two of them pressed themselves flat on either side of the entrance, Crest raised three fingers of his left hand to indicate the countdown. He lowered one finger, then the next, and then finally the last one. As it touched his fist, Crest snapped his hand back onto the A280, as Fain commenced his rapid entry. Crest followed on his heels. Fain broke left into the main compartment of the airspeeder. Crest aimed his A280 into the rapidly shrinking human figure in the pilot’s seat.

Seeing the figure opening his mouth in protest, Crest barked out, “Shut up, unless you want to have a third hole in your face. It’d look mighty impressive dead center of your forehead.”

The mouth clenched shut, and a look of terror and recognition flooded the man’s face.

“Clear,” informed Fain, over the squad channel.

“And I’ve got us a nice chauffeur, boss. Who else will give you that type of five-star service in the middle of a mission?”

“Alright everybody, board up,” Gates ordered, his voice completely devoid of appreciation of the humor and exactly how it was supposed to be.

The rest of Blackjack and all of Eclipse quickly boarded the airspeeder and filed into their places. Crest left the boss to explain their destination and moved to the back of the airspeeder. A minute ticked away. The airspeeder suddenly took off, a consensus having been apparently reached by Gates and pilot.

Four black-clad mercenaries rushed into the area where the speeder had been, their body expressions showing that they were crestfallen at the escape of their target. Unfortunately, they gathered in front of the refueling station. Crest quietly slipped the window open and aimed his A280 at the pipe that supplied fuel into the measuring station. One shot lanced out. The fuel spurted out of the pipe, coating the ground in about a six-meter radius. As they tried to get out of the mess, they slipped and fell on top of the mess. Crest fired aother round. A firestorm burst into existence and burnt brilliantly as it consumed the fuel.

Crest crowed, “Who likes their Blan-charred!”

RAIDERS

The lights from the patrol car illuminated the alleyway for a moment before turning onto another street. Of all the things we could’ve done… He shook his head and motioned ahead, making sure Mox could see it from where he’d squirreled up to on the roof. “Just a bit more to go,” he said into the comlink before taking the lead. Beta followed while Mox slid down a drainage pipe and hit the ground with a small thump, and fell in step with Coad.

The building in question was larger than the others around it, and made a perpetual humming sound. There was a detail of four guards stationed in front of the building, and thick metal doors read ‘Residential Station Power’. He looked up and down the street in front of the building, checkpoints on either end of the road.

Coad cursed and turned around, motioning to go back. “We gotta find another way around; the front door isn’t an option.” The group’s detour took them through the backways of the block, across a street (after checking that the coast was clear), and to the back of the power station building. Two guards were posted, helmets off and talk mild between one another. They stood away from the door and looked down another alleyway. The guard on the left drew deeply from a lit cigarette, blew a thick grey cloud into the air, and handed it to the guard on the right.

“You hear?” Lefty said, smoke exiting his nose and mouth with every word. “Fikk’s getting ready to up and leave.”

Righty inhaled deeply and let a thin stream of smoke leave his mouth. “Well, can you blame him? With all this sudden pressure, I’m ready to get the hell off of this base, too.”

“Yeah, but this is the HQ, ya know? This’d be the place for the last stand if there ever was.”

Sonuvagun. Coad thought furiously at the new obstacle before him. Fikk’s in there. There’s likely to be an army of Blanchard folks in there, too… His lips formed a thin line under the helmet, and he nodded once to himself. He pointed at Mox, made the choking signal with his hands, then pointed at Lefty. Mox nodded. Together they crept out silently and came up behind the two smoking guards, still chatting with one another.

“Well, it’s not like we’re a  feudal nation with a capital and whatnot.  As long as we got our heads, we can move and come back again.”

“I guess you’re rigkichk-”

Coad applied more pressure against Righty’s throat with his arm, his stubble scratching against the plastic gaunlet cutting off his breath. Lefty only had a moment to register the situation before Mox slid his vibroknife first through his armor and then through his spine. Righty held out and fought against Coad’s grip, but soon he joined his friend on the floor. Coad sighed.

“Joa, Fikk’s in the Residential Zone, in the power station. Orders?”

“Sit tight, Charlie. We’re on our way.”

JESTER

She was in the back, as always. Telling herself that it had nothing to do with her race  or her personal specialties had done little good to bolster her confidence. She didn't mind most of the time, Doregan had gone out of his way to make her feel like a part of the squad. But since joining forces with Jester squad, it was almost as if she didn't exist. A soft growl escaped her lips and she settled into the shadows  as the rest of Raitonin engaged  the mercenaries.

The shadows were where she was most comfortable and where she often did her best work. It was for this reason that her callsign had been changed. Doregon had taken a look at her and at her file and  called her a regular kage. At the time she'd no idea what it had meant, he'd taken the time to explain to her, that in his native tongue, kage meant shadow. She'd taken to it like a Mon Cal to water. After all, the shadows was where Bothans often did  their best work.

Brushing off her typical insecurities, Kage concentrated on the task she had been placed in Raitonin Squad for. While the others and Jester continued to engage the enemy, Kage uploaded a current map of their location, their objective location  and the surrounding area. That done she made her way to the detention area to see what obstacles lay in wait for the rest of them when they came this way.

******************

Bright hissed at the Blanchard reinforcements that had arrived. She was right that they had been waiting, hanging back in order to more closely guard her people as well as tire them out with the previous skirmishes. If only these Blanchard fools had known that her resolve had been forged in some of the VE's deadliest battles and campaigns.  She didn't tire easily and playing games such as they had been playing was a sure fire way to piss her off.

Beside her Doregan appeared tense and rigid, not at all the man that had been accompanying her so far.  Five more mercs remained including the two men that had found them in the vents. The charge on her rifle chose that moment to give out and die. Cursing fluently in five different languages, Bright dropped the blaster rifle and grabbed for her blades.

“I'm going in, cover me.” She called to Doregan. The big man nodded and continued to fire his weapons.

The five remaining mercs seemed to have exhausted their own blaster charges, Bright chose that moment to move in to action. In the next three minutes the rest of the mercenaries now lay dead either by her blades or by a cluster of blaster shots to various vital organs. In the end she could only claim two of those kills as her own.

“Shall we continue?” She asked sliding her blades back into their sheathes.

“Kage, report.” Doregan said nodding in Bright's direction.

RAIDERS

It had come to a horrible stand still. Blasters being aimed around the corner of the wall, firing blindly into the masses, there were shouts of orders from the mercs, there were screams of pain when one of them took enough shots to finally take them down. The small group of RAIDERS, plus one highly spunky other, hunkered down around the corner, doing what they could with their sparse ammo. A rough grumble tore through Jae's lips as she hit yet another merc, though failed to fell him because of his armor. If it wasn't a death trap I'd just use my blades... She wasn't used to not being able to use her blades one bit, and this stalemate was just frustrating her even further.

"Jae! What're ye going to do?" The question came from Jack, who was surprisingly panicked, at least by her voice, but when Jae turned to look at the woman, there wasn't a single trace of fear or panik on her entire face. Terrifying...

Again, Jae grumbled, pressing her back against the wall as she watched bolts fly by. "There's no way we're getting passed them, but that's the only way to the power signature at this point..." She spoke to herself, her eye on the ground, her lips twisted in her frustrated thought process.

It was like heaven when she heard the sound: the soft click of the com, and then the voice of Charlie Team's leader. "Joa, Fikk’s in the Residential Zone, in the power station. Orders?”

“Sit tight, Charlie. We’re on our way.” Joa's voice faded out, and Jae's lips turned bright once more.

With a loud grunt, she holstered her DC-15 and grabbed Dusk and Whiskey by the back of their armor, pulling them back behind the wall corner once more. She pushed them both against the wall, fierce eyes thankfully shielded by the ghostly, sea-foam light of the visor. "Stop that shit, you heard the com, save your ammo and get ready to run the opposite direction." After she released them she dug into her bag, pulling out two thermal detonators. The troopers went wide-eyed, looked at each other, then back to their leader. Jae only smiled and clicked both of the buttons on the explosives, tossing them around the corner.

With that, she grabbed Dusk and Whiskey by the armor again, and thrust them back the way they had come. "Go!" And with that, she too turned and began to run, keeping guard behind her troopers with Jack to her left. She heard the booms, the hallways shook and she laughed.

= = = = = = = = = =

It took only minutes for Fireteam Beta to reach the others, having run into Joamer and his group along the way. She came up next to Joamer, keeping quiet as she moved with practiced silence. "Ya ready to get this nasty little bastard?" she said with a sing-songy tone to her voice and an evil sparkle to her only good eye.

Eclipse, Blackjack

Things had happened quickly enough for Zaria to be in a daze as she ran alongside her fellow Eclipse members and Blackjack. Eclipse had moved through the building with help of the vents as well as a sudden loss of gravity around the station. The confusion inside the building and around other sectors of the station had helped divert attention from them as they made moved on in their simple technicians uniforms.

Skarr had moved them to a secluded place of the station and quickly made contact with Garryll as the rest of the squad removed the technician clothing to reveal simpler garments made to go under the armor they had brought. HE sounded a bit flustered, noted Zaria as she pulled the tunic of the uniform over her head.

“Let’s go Eclipse. We’re joining Blackjack, we’ve just gotten our new assignment.” The muscular Squad leader motioned for them to move on just as they finished. They encountered little resistance thanks to the distraction from the other Squads.

“Skarr, you alright there?” Skarr answered Zaria’s question with a nod as they continued.  She furrowed her brow thoughtfully falling behind to make sure the rest of the squad followed and not pressing the subject any further. Truthfully she did not know her squad or their leader very well, yet.

Eclipse embraced the shadows around them as a patrol passed near then on its way to find the cause of all the uproar, poor fools don’t know what’ll hit them thought Zaria.  The training Skarr had given them had paid off.  Soon enough they had found their way toward Blackjack and had quickly pulled on their armor.
Zaria was amused at how quickly Blackjack moved, they moved efficiently. She turned to look at Skarr, his jaw was held tight. He caught her eye and visibly tried to relax. Then he nodded at the group so she turned to look at them just as Skarr spoke to her over a private network.

“Get them moving, Lance Corporal.” He was not used to having an assistant to his squad, Zaria was not used to being in charge, and both were still a little awkward as far as their roles but they tried. Only time would tell how well the pair could work together. Zaria spoke to the squad over their private network as they finished pulling on their armor.

“Get a move on with that armor Eclipse, stay close; we’ll be listening to Garryll for a while. Any questions for Skarr or me use this network.” The rest of the squad responded easily, now fully equipped and looking to Garryll for further direction.

As they boarded the speeder Zaria felt herself lost. They did not respect her yet, she felt it. But then again respect was meant to be earned not simply given. She hoped that with time things would fall into place. The speeder moved both Squads quickly enough, taking them deeper in to enemy territory. Things were starting to get more interesting for Eclipse.

JESTER

Therex was standing outside the door leading to the Detention Level. Bright was talking to Kage, one of the Raitonin squadmates who had fled the last fight, to "scout ahead."

More like the actions of a coward than a soldier.

Shaking the thought from his head, Therex put his head against the door, and scanned the other side with his cybernetic eye. He could see close four heat signatures standing right in front of the door, and two more standing down a hallway. But Therex could "see" sound waves that revealed more were standing quite a ways away. Turning to Bright, he reported that, staring at the Kage character the whole time.

"Well, we have surprise on our side,"Bright said, "But I doubt that we can do this stealthily. I hate to ask this but can you open the door for us Jake?"

Therex merely smiled and nodded. Bright had hated Therex's recklessness, but now she needed. She obviously had trouble just asking him. Grabbing several sticks of detonite together, Therex used engine tape and wires to put them together. Sticking it to the door, Therex had everyone move to the sides. Bright looked around and got conformation from everyone, and then signaled Therex. Nodding back, he lit the old-style fuse, and knocked on the bulkhead and removed his helmet. Bright gave him a puzzled look, but Therex put his finger to his lips. A man's face came over the console near the door.

"Yes?" he said.

"Hey, we got hostiles tailing us," Therex said, flashing the fake ID's he had been given.

"We will need to do a retinal scan," the man said, as a small tube extended at perfect eye level. Therex morphed the surface of his cybernetic eye to match that of one of the security guards he had spent time with a week ago. The computer beeped, and a light turned green.

"Alright, Corporal Jenkins," the man said, reading a display on his side.

As the screen went blank, Therex re donned his helmet and pushed himself against the far wall. When the door opened, Therex heard the fuse top burning.

"Fra..." the guard said, just before he was drowned out by a loud explosion.

The remaining four guards looked into the smoke cloud left by the explosion. Bright was the first to emerge firing with deadly accuracy, dropping two more guards. The two that survived, jumped behind cover, obviously well trained. They had gotten lucky with the first four. That plus explosives work well. Bright pulled back behind the door frame, and slid down next to Therex.

"I told you to open the door," she said, "Does mayhem always follow you?"

"Not always," Therex said, chuckling, "Sometimes, it doesn't dare follow me."

She's had them in his sights, from the ventilation duct above them. She slowly approached his finger near the trigger when suddenly, a phenomenal explosion disintegrate one of the five guards.

Two of the remaining men were brutally killed by an unmatched precision. Two shots, two kills.
Liliths had heard a distinctive voice behind the security checkpoint just after the feat.

"I told you to open the door."

It could only be one person. Sergeant D'jonoc, his new squad leader.

''Finally, they are here.'' Whispered Lilith to herself.

Unfortunately, she managed to lose sight of the other guards, during the firefight. She could hear the suppressing fire toward the sergeant's team from their cover. She could not let her squad stuck at this location. Lilith kicked down the vent grid, get half of her body out and start firing at the guards. Luckily, the position she had given her an advantage over them.

''I had said it before. It doesn't dare follow me,'' Therex said, while laughing.

"Move in," ordered Brightstar.

They enter the corridor while remaining vigilant. Anyone could have set traps to take them out by surprise.
Brightstar calmly walked towards one of the dead to check the injuries.

"Not this time it seems. This is definitely a gunshot. However, not from us, judging from the angle.'' Said Brightstar while looking at Therex.

"Who did this," he retorted.

"It was me guys, sorry to be late," said Lilith just before falling from the duct above them.

"Oh! That was an impressive drop," said Therex.

"Nothing I can't handle, thanks." She retorted faintly.

"Private Lilith, glad you could have made it here. Even so, we have not time to talk about the reason of your delay." Said Brightstar while sliding her blades back into their sheathes. "Kage. Are we close to the detention center."

"No. We have to take the next corridor on the left. Continue for approximately one hundred meters. Our goal should be in the last room." Replied the Raitonin while looking at his datapad.

"Come on everybody, in formation. We have no time to lose," shouted Brightstar, "Lilith we'll talk about your falling back later."

They took the left corridor as Kage had mentioned earlier. It was dark, without any emergency lights. Brightstar nodded toward Therex, he immediately took the head of the squad. He was the only one to have a cybernetic prosthesis allowing him to see better.

"Therex. You see something ahead?" Said Brightstar.

"It is not clear yet. Be careful though, there are windows along the wall I could not tell what is in the rooms." Replied Therex to the team.

Brightstar knelt through the darkness, darkness. The of the team did the same until they reached the far end.

"I think we're there. Detention cells," Lilith's read out loud. Da.., it is protect by a security panel like you encountered earlier.

"You know the drill," replied Brightstar while looking at Therex with a smile.

"I'll do it with pleasure, ma'am."

RAIDERS.

He watched the squad fan out into the small hallway as they waited. He knew Fikk would have guards in the room, a standup firefight would be costly and probably result in the death of someone he cared about. Looking at the armor Jaenna was wearing a very bold course of action began to take place in his mind. He knew it was risky, but it had worked in the past a very long time ago.

Smiling he waved Jaenna over and said, "Instead of shooting our way in, why not try to use those security passes we still have and see if we can get the squad into position around the room. Then spring our trap when we have them surrounded?"

The half playful half evil glint that came to her eye as he said that intrigued him. Raising her hand in the air she circled her finger twice and waited for the squad to fall in behind the duo. After a moment she said, "Plan is easy, and going to be fun. We waltz right in and take them all by surprise. Keep your teeth together and act mean. We'll do the talking."

Nodding once Joamer said, "On my signal, spring the trap. Untill then act indifferent to his guards."

Squaring his shoulders he let his jack-boots echo against the floor as he heard the squad behind him fall into step a few moments later. Moving past guards, and civilians they ignored everyone as the groups moved out of the squads way. The black armor helped create the image that this was a group that belonged here, plus the marching in step instead of opening firing helped just a tiny bit.

Reaching the entrance to the room Joamer did not hesitate but stepped inside, raising his hand he circled it once as the squad fell out of line and moved through the room beginning to secure areas. At the center of the room he saw two guards standing next to an older nearly feeble looking man. He looked up from his over-sized chair that rested near what appeared to be a highly complex life support system.

Removing his helmet he tossed it behind him without looking. Not hearing it hit the ground he knew it had been Jaenna that had caught it. Ignoring the two guards he stepped near Fikk and said, "Sir, my squad and I have been activated to secure your safety. The station has been breached by what we believe are Imperial troops, you are not secure here anymore. Transport is waiting for you and your people."

Resting his arms behind him he watched as his squad secured the room, moving into positions that would work well for the trap. Fikk however sat in his chair and studied the younger man standing at ease before him. Joamer kept his breathing even as he waited for the man's response, keeping his face passive was a trick he had learned many years ago.

RAIDERS

Xy watched Fikk out of the corner of her jade eye.  She walked slowly, pacing around the room waiting for Joamer’s orders.  Finally they were right where they needed to be.  The tension was tight in her chest, mostly from excitement, not fear.  Waiting for over two weeks had built up within her.  Every day had dragged on forever for her.  Although she had been in the army only a short time, the few connections she had made, she had missed while on Liberty Station.

Fikk gulped as he evaluated Joamer.  The silence dragged slower than a Hutt on stone.  Joamer’s jaw was as hard as steel as his gaze un-wavered from Fikk.  Xy could tell that Joamer was as hungry as she was, if not hungrier.  Biting her cheek to keep from smiling she glared into the eyes of one of Fikk’s guards standing directly in front of her.  It was hard not to smile when she was finally with her family, Raiders, again.  The guard in front of her turned to a console and pretended to be busy pulling up some data.  Her pace continued as she held in a scoff.

They were intimidated alright.  Xylonia, Jaenna, Mox, Coadster, Joamer, Karash, Dusk, Beta, and Heliwer made for an intimidating group.  Xy cracked her neck with a sudden jerk, making the closest guard to her jump and reach for his weapon.  He let out a quick breath and went back to looking at his console, sweat beading on his forehead.  Xy bit her lip to prevent herself from smirking.    Heh. Amateurs.

Despite having to wait and the moment was dragging on forever, Xy felt happy.  She was with some of the people that mattered most to her now.  Like a spider having wound its web, she kept waiting patiently.  Now that she was with her own, she could wait forever.  The hair stood up on the back of her neck, and her eyes shifted over to the source, Heliwer.  He was looking at her but soon looked away.  She smiled inside to herself.  He was also good at staying calm and patient under pressure, but she also knew he was as glad to be in the same room with her as she was to be with him.

Xy could almost hear Jaenna’s teeth grinding together.    Hold on for just a little longer Jae.  We’ve got him.   She wanted to reach out and squeeze Jaenna’s arm, but knew she couldn’t.    Instead, she stopped pacing and stood still as a statue, radiating the intimidating factor from her persona.  Fikk’s guards seemed to feel it from all the Raiders and they all looked pale and on edge.    C’mon Fikk, make your move.  What will it be?    Xy’s eyes remained pure jade in color.  She thought she saw Heliwer squint at her eyes, perhaps noticing the color he has not seen before.  Soon, he looked away.

C’mon, c’mon.  Let’s take him Joamer.

RAIDERS

The breath caught in Coad’s throat as Fikk’s eyes flicked over him, as they had for the other RAIDERS. The man’s face was unreadable under the oxygen mask over his mouth, but Cody could detect a hint of something in those eyes of his, the only spry thing about the almost deathly figure dominating the room. Was it amusement? The trooper certainly hoped not.

Fikk’s personal guards, veterans both, stood a statuesque vigil around the decrepit man. Their demeanor was as cool as the RAIDERS’ own façades.  The room grew quiet as the tension in the room rose, or maybe it was just Coad’s mind. Then, silence.

(ba-bump)

He could hear the soft leather of a guard’s glove protest under the grip of a holster.

(ba-bump)

Fikk looked back at Joamer, heavy green eyes peering from the mask of a mummy into Joa’s own steely stare. His face looked like it was made from stone, and he gave nothing away to that undead gaze.

(ba-bump)

The decrepit man tilted his head to the side, and something in his face moved. Was it a smile? The calculating look from Fikk’s eyes suddenly sparked with amusement, and his hand was raised. With two knobby fingers, he called his guards forward.

(ba-bump)

“About time you got here,” a ghoulishly grating voice called out from behind the plastic mask. “I suppose you’ve got your clearance and what-have-you? We’ll need it to get off of this hellish tin can.”

A look passed between Fikk’s guards, then they immediately began unhooking the ancient man from the large pod and onto a smaller mobile vessel. Joamer gave a small nod, and Coad could feel the air escaping his lungs. It was still tense in the room, though, and He’d be glad to leave the whole damned ship just as fast as Fikk would. A funny thought Cody thought as he took position in the circle the RAIDERS made around their ‘charge’. Considering he won’t be getting off in the way he hopes.

He weighed the different meanings of his thoughts, and looked at the old man. There was something imperceptible about the Blanchard leader, and something he couldn’t put his finger on. As frail as the man was, it didn’t seem like he was ready to die. It frightened  Coad, even though the RAIDERS seemed to have the upper hand.

The guards finished hooking up the odds and ends of Fikk’s various attachments, and a hovering chair that Fikk sat in kept the whole apparatus afloat. “Let’s get on with it, boys. I don’t have all day to lollygag.” The phrase made him laugh, a sound reminiscent of gravel against a chalkboard. The sound of it made Cody's hair stand on end, and he stayed on his toes as he followed the entourage out of the room, down a hall and out the front doors.

RAIDERS

Where the hell does he want us to go? Where the hell are we supposed to to take him now? The thoughts kept coursing through her head, clawing at her mind as her teeth ground together, causing even more of a headache. As she moved, her left hand balled into a fist, her right twitching every few moments, fighting the urge to grab hold of her pistol and turn it on the old man - a man who was one part of a plan to destroy everything she now knew. The urge to turn on him at that very moment was strong, terrifyingly so. The muscles in her hand continued to twitch, her teeth continued to grind, her mind continued to scream at her to just spring it and go. But as she looked to her left, her good eye narrowed behind her sea-foam visor, she saw Joamer glaring at her, the look an obvious silent phrase of 'Don't you dare.'

Already it was hard to keep herself steady as they walked through the back alley's of the residential station-city, but knowing that Joamer's command sat behind it as well just made her skin crawl. Over the past two weeks, no, the past months, she had decided it was her time again. It was her time to once again take command of the RAIDERS and make them what they should be, make them what they were meant to be. She tasted bile in her throat as once again she fought down the urge to turn her pistol on the old, decrepit man. It should be her giving the commands, it should be her in charge. It killed her to think that Joamer was the one she answered to; that he, the man who went rogue during a Platoon campaign, was so blindly trusted by the Squad she had given her life to. It sickened her.  Or maybe... what was sickening her was the fact that the heavily concentrated dose of spice he had given her was beginning to lose it's effect.

With a deep breath, the realization striking her heard enough to make her entire right hand twitch into a fist, she used her left hand to give Joamer a soft signal, one that the two friends had agreed upon months ago during a discussion about her spice usage. Joamer nodded, and slowed his pace, the rest of the squad and the old man following. Slowly, Jae raised her wrist, and with the click of a few simple buttons she activated her communication killing transmitter, stopping all abilities for Fikk to contact his guards, and also hacked into his chair controls, taking away his ability to control it himself. She smirked, and luckily it was hidden by the visor, for if looks could kill the old man would be in flames.

"What is going on?" Fikk's grating voice slid over his tongue as he fiddled with his chair controls.

The RAIDERS closed in their circle, all smirking lightly.

OOC:

RAIDERS are currently surrounding Fikk and his hacked chair in a tight circle in the back alleys of the residential city. Jae has activated her little device that kills communications for any chosen frequency, and she chose Fikk's guards' frequency.

“Oh and Therex,” Bright started staring her trooper down. Even in the darkness she knew he could see her clearly.

“Yes?” He asked fiddling with something in his hand. Something that would make a lot of noise and likely cause a lot of damage no doubt.

“Do try not to kill anyone we know.” She muttered. Explosives weren't exactly her thing. Sure she carried around the occasional frag grenade, or more commonly her flash bangs, but she used them only as a last resort or to provide tactical support to others.

Her heart beating wildly in her chest, Bright's nerves began to show. Please let them all be alive. She began to chant in her head. They were so close now, so close to freeing the members of her squad she'd been forced to leave behind on Anteevy. Silently she began to kick herself for not thinking of another plan to get them all out safely.

“Nervous, much?” A silky voice said beside her. It held an innate purr that could only have belonged to the one being that was not human amongst their group.

“Well at least your callsign fits.” Bright muttered after hiding the fact that she had been taken by surprise. “Would you not be nervous if you were rescuing members of your squad that you had been forced to leave behind?”

The Bothan remained quiet for after that. The resounding explosion that followed left Bright rolling her eyes and wondering if perhaps Therex was a Blackjack at heart. “Okay lets move.” She ordered as she strafed into the cell block. “Lilith find out which cells are holding Jester Squad prisoners. Therex you and Light are with me. The rest of Jester will guard the entrance.”

“Fang, Vibro, with me, Kage scout ahead I don't want surprises. The rest of youngsters co-ordinate with Jesters at the entrance.” Doregan ordered indicating to Bright that he would take the right if she would go left.

Therex walked cautiously down the hallway, scanning the walls and ceiling with thermal imaging. He saw a red spot flare up right above him. Panicking, Therex fell backwards onto his tailbone, firing sporadically. When he let up on the trigger, Bright came over and pulled him up.

"Congrats soldier." she said, teasing, "You hit the heating vent. Try to save your ammo for the real threats."

Trying to regain some composure, Therex brushed off his shoulders and slung his blaster rifle over his shoulder, and swapped it out for his M3s. From in front of him, Bright stopped and held her hand up. Therex turned his head, still looking through a thermal scanner filter, and saw what had stopped her.

A rather large red blur, sat behind a door, obviously preparing an ambush. They weren't to great at being silent however. They were clomping around in heavy boots and they kept lightly bumping the door, which was usually followed by several loud shushes. Bright shook her head and called Therex forward.

"Can you blow up another door?" she asked.

"Not really." he said, swinging his arms out. "I am fresh out of explosive materials."

"Alright then," she said, calling the squad together. "We are gonna do this the old fashioned way. Just wait for them to open the door, and then let'em have it."

Turning she switched her comm on.

"Lilith, how long do you need?"

A slightly filtered voice came from the comm.

"Just a couple more minutes. They really didn't want people snooping around in their computers."

Clicking her comm in confirmation, Bright moved behind cover and pulled her blaster up. Light and Therex joined her, each pulling out their weapons and doing equipment checks. Suddenly a hiss came from the door's hydraulics.

"Here they come boys and girls."

Lilith was standing in front of the terminal searching a way to decrypt it, when suddenly a voice came out from the comm.

"Lilith, how long do you need?"

"Just a couple more minutes. They really didn't want people snooping around in their computers."

She was certainly not the best hacker in the galaxy, but the prisoners and team needed her to succeed. With that in mind she started to enter a multitude of different combinations to access the localization files.

''Come on ... I kindly ask you, give me access immediately,'' shouted Lilith to herself.

Suddenly, one of the door opening graphic went green on the screen, followed by an echo of gunshots.

''Da.. They already entered the room,’’ murmured Lilith.

The comm suddenly open, a lot of fighting noise was coming from the background.

''Lilith, The door leading to the cells is open. We are under heavy fire, I immediately need the location of the prisoners,'' shouted Bright in order to be heard throughout the firefight going on behind her.

''One more minute sergeant, I feel I'll get it soon,'' said Lilith while hitting the monitor.

Beep … Beep ... Admin access unlocked, good day to you.

The screen turned green. The internment files and miscellaneous controls were finally displayed on the monitor.

''Lilith. Dammit. There are dozen of enemies in this room, we need the number. Right now,'' cried Bright.

''Yes I got them. Stay out of the room, I have a plan.''

Lilith rapidly scrolled through the records, when she finally reaches a file name (Root. / Empire / Jes / Pow / Cells).
She opened the file, but left it aside. She continues to scroll down until a file name (Root. / Cells / auto-extinguisher/feature control) become accessible.

''Clear the entrance,'' shouted Lilith.

Lilith began to run towards the squad, right after she had pressed the control switch. When she arrived near the entrance, a huge cloud of smoke had completely wrapped out the corridor. Screams of pain could be heard inside, Lilith leapt into the room with fear of what was to be found inside.
A feminine shadow with a perfect silhouette was calmly coming out of the smoke, walking toward her.

''Can I have the cells number now,'' Bright said with a smirk.

The cloud of smoke dissipated and hinted bodies of the enemies killed by the team. A true master work, each victim had a hole in their head or had been precisely cut under their neck with a blade. Talented, her squad was accomplished.

''Oh yeah, they are detained in the cell 070-A and B,'' said Lilith while looking behind Bright.

''Lilith. You impress me for a blue, the smoke was very ingenious,'' retorted Bright.

''Thank you Sergeant.''

''Ok everyone. Open the cells, I want to get the hell away,'' cried Bright to everyone.

RAIDERS.

Giving a hand signal he watched as his squad suddenly made their move amongst the guards. Throughout the last few minutes all the guards had been separated slowly, with the advantage of being together gone the moment RAIDERS struck was clean and simple. In minute they had been carrying weapons, the next they were on the ground with their hands above their heads.

"Commander Jonus Fikk, your first thoughts were correct. I am not what I seem to be, my name is Reistlin Joamer, Sergeant Major, Squad Leader RAIDERS squad. Your men and yourself will be taken to a secure location, what happens after that is not my concern." Joamer said slowly as he removed the man's hand from the chair controls. "Be good and I won't have to have my second here break something you may need later on."

"Hurr, we got you." Jaenna said slowly from a few feet behind him. Joamer turned to glance at his second over his shoulder as she supervised the disarming of Fikk's guards.

"As you can see, keeping her in check is difficult. Pretty good drug cocktale helps though, but she is still unstable." Joamer said as he motioned for the squad prepare to move out. "I want flankers fore and aft, we will be moving slow through the city. We will try to take as many backways as we can, our goal should be one of the secured hangar bays. If any guard acts up shoot him, keep your weapons off stun."

"You know you won't make it right? We are too big of a group to pass by unnoticed, and now with my guards walking as prisoners we attract even more attention." Fikk said as she crossed his arms slowly.

"I've heard that before, many times. Sometimes we make it, sometimes we don't. You better hope we do make it or I'll make sure you won't go back to your old job. I would rather bring in a corpse then tell my boss you are still in business." Joamer said as he nodded to Coadster to lead the group forward.

He knew their chances of making it all the way to the hangar were slim without being detected. At some point the guards would try to grab Fikk and make a break for it, Fikk himself would probably try something sooner of later. He doubted the man's seemingly inability to walk or move quickly was completely real, no doubt an elaborate deception to put people off guard.

Rolling his shoulders slowly to work out a kink he checked the energy levels of his DLT-20a rifle as they begun moving through the heavier populated parts of the station. He could hear screaming and the random blaster going off in the distance, but for the moment it seemed they were alone. He knew that would change at any moment, he could almost feel the security cameras watching the group move slowly through the city.

Blackjack/Eclipse

The fueling station burned behind them, but Blackjack never looked back; they were too focused on their mission to dither and lose their concentration when their goal was going to appear before them all too soon.

Gates held the civilian at gunpoint almost apologetically. “I really am a wee bit sorry to have pulled you into this,” the Blackjack SL said softly. “I’d steal the speeder and leave you out of it, but unfortunately, none of my squad can drive worth a damn.”

The civilian’s mouth almost quirked up, but the beads of sweat on his forehead gave away his intense nervousness. Gates nodded silently and let the man drive. On quiet repolsurlifts, the bus-sized speeder crawled through the station’s nearly highway wide routes; the designers of Liberty station had spared no expense for such an important hub, and it showed; the station’s infrastructure was incredible.

“We’re coming up on the locations intel has placed our codes at,” Orr said, pointing. “We get off the main-way here and then we’ll take a super-elevator up ten floors. To the penthouses.”

“Where our objective is located,” Gates returned. “We need to move in quickly; we’ll be facing a ton of resistance. This will only work if we smash in faster than they can sneeze, grab our objective, and smash our way back out.”

In Gates’ ear, his comlink buzzed. “Captain, this is Lieutenant Fitzgerald from C company. There’s a Sergeant Major Joamer and a Platoon Sergeant Brightstar on the line for you, sir.”

“Pipe them through,” Gates replied. “Good news?”

“Of course,” replied the Raiders leader. “We have Fikk. What do you want me to do with him?”

“He’s gotten into our systems more than once. Get him back to base - unharmed. The man’s broken enough as it is; I’m sure our experts will want to poke around his brain, or maybe even remove it. Bright, you’ve secured your POWs?”

“Aye, Garryll,” replied the Jester. “I assume we’re bugging out now?”

“Roger that, Bright. Get your troops out of there,” Gates said. “Once you get your men secured, see if you can’t give the army a hand. Emperor know’s they’ll need it.”

Status update: There are now several hundred VE military forces fighting with security forces and Blanchard and Needle commandos.

New RAIDERS objective: exfiltrate Fikk. Blanchard and Needle forces will pursue, intent on getting the high-profile prisoner back

New Jester objective: get POWs and squad out.

Post objectives-mission/side-mission: Army squads are making their way through the station. You may come across them, and assist them if it pleases you.

BJ/Eclipse: Continue objective. We’ll be coming up on a large elevator (big enough for large amounts of foottraffic) and then we’ll be in the ‘nice’ neighborhood. High-class apartments, large contingents of security forces, etc. Our objective is a veritable stronghold amonst these homes, a vault and Blanchard-defended building.

I spent two weeks in the depths of the station, maintaining the artificial gravity, and know I get orders to patrol the halls for enemys."Gon't come back until we give you the clear, no matter what,"Bright ordered. So spending god knows how long in the dark and foreboding detention level was not his idea of a great job.

"Alright you can come back, we got the POWs. Prepair to report in, Bright out."Good, I can go back, this is taking far to long. As HammerHead walked back to his fellow squad members he heard the sound of footsteps clanking on the cold metal floor. He quickly dove behind a security terminal just as a another group of mercenaries rounded the corner."Frak, the are obiously well armed and my comrades have no clue whats coming."

"Bright, come in Bright, do you read."

"Yeah what is it Hammer?"

"Look out theres a group of..."(static)

No, this can't be happening. I have to warn them, I have to help.

HammerHead got up an ran right past the the thugs, dropping a thermal detonator as he went."Catch me if you can you nerf herders."He shot two square in the chest and ran straight toward his enemy. He wuickly turned an led them down another hallway."That's right my pray, fall into my trap." he thought.
He lead the group through the endless maze of tunnels until they lost him in the shadows."I see you" he wispered. HammerHead slit ones throught with his knofe and hit won down south with his blaster rifle. He dropped another thermal detonator and said, "Good luck with that one." he than followed his steps until he reached his original path. He turned around only two see two more squads of mercenaries walk up. He ran until he could see his squad members."Take cover" he cried!
Fear is just an excuse for someone who is to lazy to take action.
Bravery is a fools excuse for running at something without taking time to think or strategize.
Courage is being able to man up and face a problem, no matter how large or difficult it may be, and take it down.
