Darr-Rann couldn't help but grin as he watched Namyr squirm nervously in her seat – everyone had their fears, and apparently, the Twi'lek couldn't stand space travel.

The rest of the raiders didn't show any of fear – They had been through boarding training plenty of times, and had even run a few simulations on assaulting this very type of platform.

“Alright, here's the plan.” The squad leader said. “Each of you have been giving magnetic disks, extra  oxygen canisters, and explosive charges. We don't intend to do much fighting, so your carrying a light armament of stormtrooper armor, e-11 blaster rifles, and a small satchel of blaster packs.

“The explosives are prepared, adhesive, and detonate VIA remote trigger detonator. They will be essential to complete our mission objective.

“We will hit the platform on the outer edge, cutting through the haul. We will clear out nearby enemies, then latch ourselves with our magnetic disks to whatever available surface and the boarding ship will pull out. When the atmosphere has been dumped from the section, we will unclip and proceed inward. We will punch open sections of the haul with our charges as we advance, creating further drain upon the oxygen distribution until the entire platform's life support fails.

“Once that is done, we find the targeting computer and destroy it with our remaining charges. With this done, the platform should be completely disabled, and we'll extract either by our boarding ship or by calling in pickup from a nearby ally.”

He looked at the mission time on his datapad – twenty minutes until estimated arrival.

“Get ready.”

Evis was nervous. Really nervous and from the faces of the others he could tell that they were feeling the same way as they geared up. This mission wasn't going to be dangerous, it was near suicidal. But who was he to question his superiors. If Darr and High Command were believing in Raider Squad to complete that mission, than they would complete that mission.
And weren't they meant to be faithful to the end? Well this was a situation to prove it.
“I can't believe they are really letting us go in there like this”, Marka said to Eviscares. As they were both combat engineers they head spent quite some time in the Barracks and en route to this mission discussing explosives and telling each other their exploits.
“Yeah, this one's gonna be tough.”, Evis replied and then leaned back against the wall, watching the others check their equipment one more time.
All of a sudden the Holoprojector in the ceiling switched on and Merrick stood between them. As fast as they could the Troopers formed a line and saluted.
But Merrick apparently wasn't calling just to wish them a good trip. As soon as the connection was fully established, she started to speak to them.
“Ok listen up Raiders”, she began, “I got good and bad news for you. The good is, I hereby on the account of the High Command authorize the use of light Spacetrooper suits. Get into them and change your plans accordingly. The bad news is, you will have to do this in the 10 remaining minutes until you are at the Objective. We still got a time frame for you to stick to. Dismissed!”
Then she was gone again. The collective relieve in the room was almost visible. Then Darr spoke:”You heard her. Get down to the Aft cargo bay and get into these suits!”
It only took so much for the relieved Stormtroopers to shift into high speed. Like one man they turned around and ran to the holds.
Eviscares overheard several conversations on the way how excited the troopers were to finally use that sweet Spacetrooper gear. He could understand them as soon as he stood before his suit. Each of those suits was a metallic giant, adding roundabout a foot to the size of the wearer. A monster made of high tech materials, capable of prolonged operations in space, the plasmacutters capable of cutting through ship hulls and enemys alike. Unlike the older suits he had trained with these were nowhere as bulky but not as heavily armed or armored as well. The sheer bulk of it and the power enhancers though meant that a normal Trooper could easily brandish a heavy repeating blaster.
It took Raider Squad not more than 2 minutes to get into the exo-suits and as soon as he made his first step forward felt the powerful sensation that always accompanied the first minutes in a powered suit.
He felt how smoothly the sensors picked up his movements and enhanced it with the suits servos.
Aphamos let out an excited “Woohoo”, and some of the others couldn't hold back similar comments.
The Squad quickly picked their favorite heavy weapons from the racks in the cargo hold and as soon as they were ready fell in in front of Darr.
“Ok Squad, here it is. We will be going in from above ejecting out of the Transport at great height and then dive through a blind spot in the top deck cannons fire area. This might be risky but it brings us to a great spot on the roof to continue as we had planned. ETA is 2 Minutes so I give you one off before we enter the airlock.”
One minute. One precious minute before it all began. Every trooper knew to cherish this moments before the beginning of a mission. And every one of them had another method of using it. Some paced up and down, some made foolish bets about the missions outcome. Some simply did trash talk. Not so Evis. He leaned against the plasteel wall and thought of Kami and Angel. And as it sometimes happened when he just concentrated hard enough there was a split second of connection, a brief flash of recognition, but as soon as he tried to hold on to it, it was gone.
Then the minute was over and Rogue started to call out their names. Raider squad stood in a cue in front of the Airlock door, with Darr as the first man and Rogue as the last. Normal operating procedure would be that Rogue jumped first and Darr last so the Squad leader could enter secured ground but that was one of the rule no Stormtrooper could adhere to. A Squadleaders place was on the front line. He was the first to go in and the last to go out. The Airlock doors opened and the squad stepped forward into the compartment. It was there that Darr spoke again: “Okay Troopers, this won't be easy but we are not here for the easy jobs, are we? Make me proud! RAIDERS!” His last yell was echoed by the whole squad with a deafening “FAITHFUL!”. Then the airlock doors in front of them opened. The Oxygen got sucked out into the vacuum and one Raider after the other jumped into the unknown.

OOC:
I had to make some changes to the Equipment of the mission. Sorry about that. But normal Stormtrooper armor just isn't suited for those. And as we are Multi Enviroment Infantry, spacetrooper equipment is reasonable. Talked to this about Merrick and she confirmed it. So we got an official approval from HC. For infos about the armor check out:
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Spacetrooper
I decided to go with the light armor as it is a product that appeared in the thrawn era and gives our hand to hand specialists more room to fight in their field of expertise. Notice that those are not as heavily armed as the MK1 or MK2 version.
Also please take a look at the platforms stats. Those things are beasts.

Marka slipped his blade into the make-do sheath attached now to the left waist of his armour. Luckily enough, the suit, though considerably bulkier than the regular armour, was quite manoeuvrable and allowed a decent amount of dexterity whilst using the blade. His vibrosword wasn’t very clean; he’d forgotten to polish it again. Luckily no one had noticed as of yet.
Shouldering an A280, Marka stepped out of the hold, completely suited and ready for another battle. Again, this mission would require an enormous amount of luck if one was to survive.

“...ETA is 2 Minutes so I give you one off before we enter the airlock.”

Marka looked down at the steel flooring of the vessel, taking in the basic pattern of the metal, his eyes wandering over the worn edges of the bolts holding the thing together. A few seconds went by, and the bustling of the squad was drowned as Marka’s mind shut itself off from all reality for that solitary minute.

The steel walls were stripped bare, and then vanished in a green veil. Each of his squad mates faded from vision, and in their stead stood mighty trees, crowding the area around him. Birds and other wildlife could be heard above. And below. And everywhere. Off to Marka’s right, far off, the sound of running water could be heard. He listened as it splashed against rock, cascading down. He imagined the fish flowing through, the water lapping at the banks of a river.
Behind him, across his exposed back, he felt the gentle caress of morning sun. His skin tingled, the hair on the back of his neck slowly standing. He turned to look at it, and found its appearance to be as delicate as its feel. The sight of it did not blind or hurt him. He looked at it without squinting, without having to adjust his eyes. It was simply another part of the world around him.

And then all at once he was again confined to the metal prison of the ship. Around him, each of the squad members had prepared themselves for the coming danger. It would only be a matter of moments before they were cast out into the abyss of nothingness. That was their mission.

Darr spoke up once more: ““Okay Troopers, this won't be easy but we are not here for the easy jobs, are we? Make me proud! RAIDERS!”

As if they all shared the exact same train of thought, every Raider lifted their voices and cried out, “FAITHFUL!” And with that, the doors were wrenched open, an incredible pull took hold of the squad, and one by one they flew out into space. Marka had only been on a single space mission beforehand, and it hadn’t worked out very well at all. He hoped, desperately hoped, that this mission would turn out as planned.

Rogue was probably the only person in the squad who was not happy with the change of armour; while the newer ones had addition features and would protect them against vacuum better, it was also slightly bigger then their previous armour offering a bigger target to their enemies. Regardless of the suit a puncture will kill a man in seconds as he freezes at the tender mercies of vacuum.

The squad was assembled in the airlock, Rogue was going to go first he had begged Darr to be the last one out; he understood that Darr wanted to go first to show the squad he wasn’t asking them to do something he wouldn’t but Rogue explained the morale importance of not having their squad leader killed in front of them before the mission got underway.

The mission seemed a tough nut to crack the transport ship had a special radar jammer installed on it specifically for this mission. Due to a leak by the New Republic the VEI had learned which radar system they used on the platform allowing it much easier to be jammed. The ship would drop the nine troopers almost right on the platform, from there they would need to either blow a away in or cut their way in. After that feat they would need to battle Golan armed forces and find a way to cripple their life support system, and then disable any automated defenses.

Rogue was really not in the mood for another mission but the army required that this platform be shut down and it was assigned to Raiders. Rogue’s position with Namyr and the squad hasn’t changed much; most of them still regard him with a cool behaviour lacking the warmth from before. The ASL felt that he needed to become trusted again and to do this he would need to once again win the admiration of his squad mates, first he was going to start with Namyr get the hard one out of the way first then work your way to the easiest.

The airlock doors opened and Rogue raised his arms and gripped the top determined to not let the vacuum suck him out right away. Rogue gazed at the platform; how could they stand a chance? This thing had enough firepower to take out a star destroyer. Sudden pressure on Rogue’ back forced him out the airlock and he turned around as he floated in just enough time to see Aphamos lowering his foot. That bastard Rogue thought before he burst out laughing, he couldn’t fail to see the humour in it.

It was majestic. Raider Squad swooped down to the Platform like a group of hawks. When Darr was halfway down the defense systems had picked them up and started blasting away. But as predicted there was a blind spot. Not enough for a Tie or even a larger vessel to squeeze through, but the Spacetrooper gear did the trick. Further down Eviscares could see his Squadleader and that Twi'lek girl doing some spirals while they sped down, yelling enthusiastically while doing so.
This was not really an option for him, as he had chosen to take an almost antique piece of armament with him, a republican Z6. Large and unwieldy for a normally armored trooper but just perfect for him now. It's top notch ability to 'saturate' areas with fire should come in handy.
All around him were green blasts, as the automatic defenses tried to pick off what must appear as a comet on the sensors. It made him a little bit nervous when he thought about how he would look after taking such a blast.
Suddenly Darr fell silent and just as Evis touched down on the platform the rest of the Squad did too. This meant that Darr had decided to mute everyone, as D'kaleth assumed he just got a transmission and needed to concentrate. So he joined Namyr in her effort to tear up the hull section they were standing on with the suits integrated plasmacutter.
One by one the rest of Raider squad joined in, everyone who touched down immediately getting to work. They formed a large circle, just as in training. Only Darr was not in his spot. He still stood tall above them all, his head shaking all the time. Then he spoke up again:”Ok Raiders, this was HQ.  There will be a problem with the pickup. We will have to disable the hangars as well, as they can't spare any fighters. But that is secondary. First objective is still taking out the weapons.”
That being said, the Squadleader dropped down on his knees as well and started working. Soon they had created a circle of 3 meters in diameter, that only needed a proper detonation do get sucked out into sky.
“Marka, Evis, if you would be so kind to knock on the door.”,  he gave the order that the two combat engineers had only been waiting for.  Each of them moved up to one part of the hole to be. Eviscares took the upper region, Marka the lower. Afeter some tinkering and setting up the explosives they fired their trusters again to jet away.
“Ready to knock?”, Evis asked and together they counted down from five.
What happened next, no training could have prepared them for.  The vacuum sucked away the inner part of the hole they had created, just as planned. But what came next was horrible.A crew membert that was passing along the corridor they breached at that moment got pulled out. The rapid decompression had led to bloating. Before the eyes of assembled Raider squad his stomach ruptured.
“I think I have to puke...”, Evis murmured. Everyone watched in Terror at what they had done. But then their professionalism kicked in and put them on a kind of override. One after the other they jumped through the hole and assumed battle positions. One fireteam covering each side of the corridor.
All around them the lights turned red and a voice announced “Hull breach in section E23. Breachdoors now closing. Everyone man Battlestations!”
”Now... we are screwed!”, Evis thought. This would be classical soldier work. A lot of shooting crying and dying.
“Ok, no sense in splitting up. we'll try to advance down that corridor.”, Darr decided.
As fast as they could they were on their way.

Darr-Rann's eyes flicked up to the oxygen monitor and sighed with relief. It was still quite full, but he felt nervous about it. He didn't like operating with a limited supply of air, and he liked even less the possibility of his suite tearing and dying a horrible and painful death due to decompression.

His armor left him quite safe however – Plasteel plating over regular anti-vacuum reinforcement. It could take a shot or two in certain places without being compromised, though he knew that if he was hit in the wrong place it'd be game over. He wanted to either die in glorious combat, or peacefully at home at a ripe old age. He didn't want to die gasping and flailing around like a fish before his innards exploded.

“Alright, we aren't going to have much time for this. Evi, go to the wall and place a couple of charges. Since those blast doors closed we need to punch a hole in the wall for atmosphere to escape. When you have them planted, return to us and tell me. We'll magnetic clip to the floor while it re-drains then proceed inward.”

While Eviscares ran towards the wall, Darr-Rann withdrew his E-11 and nodded to his squad members. They drew their weapons and and crouched, shrinking their targetable area and steadying themselves. Soon troops would begin streaming in...

The blast doors opened and a company of troops walked in. They were moderately armored and equipped with blaster rifles, but they had no protection against vacuum. All they had to do is hold out and wait for Eviscares to compromise the area.

Blaster fire flashed back and forth, and two troops dropped, burning holes in their chests. New troops stepped forward, continuing to spray energy at the invading stormtroopers.

Darr-Rann looked to his Local Area Map to see Eviscares was headed their way once more. He turned his head to see the trooper running, giving a thumbs-up gesture with his heavily gauntleted hand. Suddenly the explosive exploded.

Before they magnetically clipped to the floor.

Marka, crouched uncomfortably beside a large steel canister, fired round after round blindly at the opposing troops as they began taking position at the other end of the hallway, just inside the blast doors. One of them fell quickly, a smoking gape in his chest caused by Leon’s rifle. Marka thought he could almost see Leon’s cheesy grin through his helmet.

Down the hall, Marka knew, Eviscares was preparing the wall to be blown apart. Because of the Raiders being somewhat outnumbered at that time, the squad seemed to be in agreement that vacuum damage was the best damage. It was only a matter of time before the wall would be destroyed and the enemy crushed by the vacuum of space. All the Raiders had to do was magnetically clip to the floor...

There was a deafening crack as the wall gave way to the explosion. A few of the Raiders realised that they had not magnetically clipped themselves in yet, and desperately threw their arms at their suits. Marka, shaken somewhat by the incredible pull of the blast, had a brief moment of thoughtlessness, and was consequently thrown into the wall opposite him. Luckily enough, he was wedged between thick piping, and wasn’t going anywhere quickly. Unluckily, however, the force of the impact had Marka bordering on unconsciousness, and would not know the full effect of the explosion until afterwards.

Vision diminishing, Marka snuck a glance down the hall, watching bodies fly away from him at rapid speeds. His blurred sight didn’t allow him to distinguish between friend and foe. Only a moment later did his eyes blacken completely and all went dark.

You won’t be getting up for a while buddy, thought Leon as he watched the trooper collapse. He quickly ducked back behind the support beam as laser fire flew by, trying to push himself into the wall as far as he could. If one of the enemy troopers managed to get a better firing angle, Leon would be done for. Just then a moving figure caught Leon’s eye, who he soon made out to be Eviscares.

Awww shit

A loud roar echoed throughout the hallways of the Golan Platform, followed by a horrifying crack as the metal gave way to the force of the explosion and the pulling of the vacuum. Seconds later Leon was flung from his position, hurtling down the corridor along with a couple of enemy troopers and other objects that weren’t bolted down. He quickly brought his arms up to his head, trying to shield himself from the oncoming pillar.

An ear shattering clang echoed through Leon’s helmet as he collided with the wall sided pillar, sending him somersaulting horizontally through the air.

Rocked.

Bad.

The world around him turned into a grey blur as he spun over and over again, black spots starting to slowly take over his vision. No, I have to hold on, just for a little bit, please…

He slowly moved his hand to where the magnetic button was located, trying his best to keep conscious. The black spots started to grow bigger, almost as if someone was ripping holes into his eyes. He was fading. Giving up. All the training he had done was all for nothing.

No.

Something inside of Leon kicked into overdrive, pushing him to keep going, not to give up. He quickly located the magnetic clip button and depressed it, bracing himself for what was going to come after words.

WHAM

Leon felt his feet hit solid ground, but his momentum kept his body going, causing him to hit the floor full force. Leon gasped for air, the wind knocked out of him from the force of the impact. He felt a sharp pain in his ankles, but ignored it for the time being. He was alive, and conscious. He hadn’t given up, and he was still ready to fight.

Darr-Rann screamed out as he clung to the floor with his magnetic clip, fighting off the blackout. Soldiers from the new republic force flew by, many of them shattering their bones on various objects before being pulled outside. He gritted his teeth and waited...

The pulling stopped. Darr-Rann looked at his atmopshere status indicator to see that the section had been drained. He looked around and sighed with relief – The entire squad had made it. Leon had been thrown fairly far and had broken a few ribs, but otherwise was okay. Marka had blacked out, but he was quickly revived.

“What happened?” Darr-Rann asked Eviscares, who was just getting up from the floor.

“I dunno.” The trooper replied, shaking his head, “I didn't trigger the detonator, just armed it. I think the explosive's detonator was faulty.”

Darr-Rann sighed. He was going to have a word with the engineers back at military arms after this mission was done with.

He nodded to the blastdoors, which had closed shortly after the explosion. “It's time to move on.”

Real short, but I was low on inspiration, and I just wanted to move us along a bit.

They had to move on. If they stayed they would be sitting ducks, waiting for the troopers on board of the station to collect them in their spacegear.
“I think... ugh... I have a problem here”, Leon made himself heard. Namyr as  the squads medic immediately was upon him. After a minute in which she asked Leon several questions and made him move in a few different ways she told the squad her diagnosis.
“He has at least one broken ribs, many more. It shouldn't be too bad, but it'll hurt and slow him down.”, she said.
Darr sighed. One trooper injured, and one blacked out. That wasn't what one would call a good start.
“Ok, Leon and Namyr, you take Marka with you until he is with us again. Evis, that leaves you as the remaining combat engineer. Get Markas charges from his belt and get us that door open. Sayah, you provide cover for him while he does so. The rest watches our back. I have to get through to HQ to tell them we have a wounded trooper here. Look alive Raiders!”, he ordered.
Eviscares walked up to the door, constantly aiming at it with his Z6 he had been quite shaken by the explosion himself and still felt a bit funny. Not that he had never before felt the power of an explosion, but most of the times he had expected it to happen. Also he was quite happy that Sayah now was covering his approach to the door. The big gun the heavy weapon specialist was wielding somehow worked miracles for his feeling of security.
He inspected the door, looking for signs of wear and tear, but was disappointed. This blast door seemed to have been exchanged quite recently. So he placed three explosives on it, along it's middle seam. This would do the trick.
When it was all set up he slowly backed away from the door, his eyes glued to it.
“Breaching charges placed and primed.”, he radioed and within the blink of an eye the rest of his Squad had assembled around him. Darr motioned him to wait a little further so that Leon and Namyr could set down Marka whom they were carrying between them.
Then he clenched his fist and Eviscares yelled “Fire in the hole!” before he detonated the charges.
These went off, just as planned, sending chunks of the doors into the next section of the corridor.  As this was empty, they waited until Marka was taken care off again and then moved as fast as they could down the corridor. It seemed as every corridor they walked along now was bathed in red light, hull breach alarms going off everywhere.
They moved down a couple of more corridors, encountering no resistance.
”They are pulling out to meet us somewhere.”,Eviscares thought. When he told this suspicion to Darr-Rann, the squadleader nodded and then replied:”I have the same feeling.”
What made matters really worse was that Eviscares was almost out of detonators. And those last he had he would have liked to keep for those nasty surprises that just always happened.
“Sorry Darr, but we have to stop. I can't use any more of my charges. We will have to stay put until Marka is up again. Then him and me can use the plasmacutters to make our way through.”, he stated.
And again Darr nodded.
The rest of the Squad automatically positioned themselves in a circle, enclosing Leon and Marka in the middle and securing to all sides.
”If only Marka would wake up soon...”, Evis prayed.

When Marka’s vision finally returned, he was surrounded. His first thought was that his entire team had perished from the premature explosion, leaving him the only survivor, now encircled by the enemy. At that thought, he reacted subconsciously and gripped the hilt of his sword, trying quickly to get to his feet. He staggered slightly, finishing his movement on one knee, both arms resting on his thigh, his head cradled there.

“You right there, Marks?” someone said, with a slight accent.

Looking up, Marka realised that he wasn’t in the danger he originally thought. His team were more-or-less intact, as far as he could tell. Slowly he got back onto his feet, the others in his squad knowing better than to help him up.

“What the bloody hell happened then?” Marka mumbled, sounding somewhat agitated.

Evi spoke up, “Charge was faulty. Exploded a little... early.”

“No shit...”

Marka gave a nod that he was alright, and the squad gripped their weapons once more and proceeded down the corridor. The steel walkway left no sound un-echoed. Every footstep could be heard, Marka thought, a mile away.

Then again, this never really was supposed to be a stealth mission

The squad turned a corner at Darr’s command, and stumbled upon a small congregation of Republic soldiers. Apparently, they were aware that the Raiders would be along shortly. Had they not been slightly taken aback at the size of their opponents in their armour, the Republicans would have toasted at least two of the Raiders. But, in their brief period of hesitation, each member dived behind some of the make-do cover scattered throughout the hallway.

A shot rang past Marka’s head as he fell behind a solid, waist-high crate. He turned to his right and saw a bolt brush Darr’s arm. It did little but blacken the surface of the armour, but it was still a worrying sight. If anyone was going to fall, the last person Marka wanted it to be was Darr, for logical and personal reasons.
Darr had been there before Marka left, and their friendship had not wavered since his return. He was Marka’s oldest friend. One of the few friends that were still alive. But also, if the Squad Leader were to fall first, the morale would plummet and the mission would balance on the brink of failure.

With a quick shake of his head, Marka raised his rifle over the top of the crate and fired, missing with the first shot, but landing a brutal headshot with the second. It blasted through the cheekbone of the soldier, sending him spiralling to the floor in a mess. The man next to him, shaken by the death, was cut down quickly by Namyr.

After the last few troops were finished off, the Raiders recollected themselves, scavenged anything of use from the still smoking corpses, and ventured the rest of the way down the corridor. They passed by what appeared to be a med-bay that had been very recently stripped of all medical supplies. There was a single roll of bandaging at the very far end of the room, but that was all. At the end of the hallway was a locked door that usually would require a keycard to open.

“Evi, Marka, open those doors if you would,” Darr said, motioning them forward.

“Hey Evi,” Marka asked, noting his lack of charges, “Where the hell did my stuff go?”

“Had to use them. No biggie. Just grab the plasma cutter and get to work on the right hand side.”

Not long later, the door was jerked upwards, allowing each Raider to make their way through. They still had to duck a little though.  Marka smirked as Rogueboy bumped his head on the way in.

“Shut up...” he commanded jokingly, noticing Marka looking at him.

not long, I know. But I encountered a severe writers block.

Another corridor.
This spacestation is endless, isn't it? Eviscares thought as he advanced with the rest of the squad towards the bridge area. Of course it was not endless. But it was huge. He had seen that when they dropped down towards it surface. It's length could almost match an Imperial Class Stardestroyer he estimated. Not that 1.3 miles where that long of a walk for a trooper, especially in this sweet gear. But it would take them some more times with all the doors they had to breach.
By now they had already inflicted a serious hull breach, with the air draining out of every section they passed, leaving back only corpses and vacuum. Somewhere in the bridge some officer would surely staring at the displays of the life support system in terror and wish that this was only a bad dream.
But he wouldn't wake up. Not unless Raider squad was standing at the bridge and shredding it to pieces. And they would certainly delight in doing so.
He was pulled back into reality rather unfriendly by a blaster bolt passing by his head way too close for his taste.
“Incoming!”, Evis yelled and then let that Z6 spin up it's barrels.
The rest of the squad reacted faster, letting loose salvo after salvo. Most of them didn't care for shot placement at all, simply perforating the soldiers that were crossing their path. But Darr took his time and placed his shots with a surgical precision that only a medic could display.
Then the Z6 sprung to life. The 6 rotating barrels unleashing a torrent of blaster bolts that simply cut those who got hit by it in half.
The only problem was it's high energy consumption. Soon he would be out of ammo. Then it would be time for scavenging or hand to hand combat.
Another Squad of enemys was overcome, but it seemed that they wouldn't break through this section as easily as they had through that before. More and more soldiers in light vacuum gear poured into the corridor laying down a hail of fire that forced Raider squad to retreat behind cover.
“Darr, I assume we need a way out of here”, Rogue remarked over com, expressing what everyone thought. By now their enemies had deployed an E-Web heavy repeater and started ripping pieces out of the Stormtroopers cover.
“Guess what, I've been thinking the same. Evis, Marka get to work. The rest try to keep them down.”, Darr-Rann replied.
And once again Evis found himself next to Marka, cutting through another wall.

Darr-Rann fired another burst of shots, watching with satisfaction as another enemy's suite was punctured.

Raiders was greatly at advantage in the vacuum setting. While they were outnumbered greatly, the enemy's equipment was designed for maintenance and emergency rather then combat – It lacked a great deal of armor plating, and could easily be compromised with a single hit. When the raiders fired their weapons, death rapidly followed.

The only problem was that they were severely outnumbered. The station was a huge, and had a complement of soldiers aboard to match. Darr-Rann paused to ponder just how many lives they were taking in this operation.

He shook his head – That wasn't the way to think about it. Rather, he should be thinking about how many Vast Imperial lives they were going to save when this platform was disabled.

Eviscares and Marka finally finished opening the wall. “Alright, let's get moving.” The squad leader said, firing one more burst at the enemy before pointing at the passageway.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Captain Marcus Wran swore as another section of the platform begun to leak. The troopers that had boarded their ship were taking a risky but dangerously effective strategy. He immediately ordered his engineering officer to cut the newly assaulted area off of the life support system.

The doorway flashed, and a group of soldiers walked in, pulling a cart behind them. The captain nodded to them and they began to assemble one of the e-webs. Along with a pair of the weapons, the cart also carried a supply of space suits. If this squad of stormtroopers were headed to the bridge, they'd be ready.

“Get dressed. If they continue at this pace, it wont be long before they break in here and come for us too.”

They were pinned down with a low amount of explosives left; the corridors were smoky as all hell and bolts appeared out of nowhere. Suppression fire is better than no fire. Rogue thought has he fired a three round burst from his A280. He quickly took cover alongside a metal bar that ran from floor to ceiling of the hallway. A few blaster bolts hit the metal beam and the effect left the burnt metal surface and a cloud of carbon dioxide mixed with durasteel filled the air.

There was a lull in the shooting at both sides waited for the smoke to clear up, Rogueboy was unsure as to whether or not this is a positive thing. The enemy has an E-web and force knows how many soldiers are there. Rogue stuck his head out from the beam in order to check the smoke levels, the corridor was poorly ventilated and as such the smoke was taking an unnaturally long time to clear out.

The Raider’s ASL crouched and looked through the scope of his A280, Rogue was impartial to normally looking through the scope because its zoom was not really that far, but if he could see any heads through the smoke the scope was his best bet.
A small area of smoke cleared up and Rogue was able to see an enemy arm sticking out of cover. Beggars can’t be choosers Rogue said before he fired a shot that would hopefully remove the target’s hand. A scream followed and a hail of bolts flew out from the E-web, now the squad had a general idea of where the E-web was and Rogue saw Marka toss a grenade in the middle of the corridor. The explosion sent a hail of small metallic screws in all directions.

“One of my personal favourites shrapnel grenades.” The normally quiet trooper said with what could only be called an evil grin displayed on his features.

Rogue switched his comlink to speak only to Darr as he outlined possible plans and avenues of victory. “We could throw a flash and hope they don’t have auto-dimmers rush in and cut them to pieces, or we could go back about ten meters and take a hall and hope it ends up somewhere else. This stalemate only gives them the advantage.” Rogue said as he waited for Darr to come to a decision.

The trooper hoped that the SL would come to a decision soon because from the looks of it the second the smoke clears up the person diagonally across from Rogue might have a clear shot at him. Rogue did not feel like dying on this space station and being blasted out into the void to get hit by a spaceship, meteorite, or burning up in some planet’s atmosphere.

Darr pondered for a moment, it seemed, on what to do. Marka was watching him, allowing himself to glance down the hall every few seconds. The smoke would clear soon, and the Raiders would be in a very tight spot. Their bulky uniform was tough, yes, but didn’t help conceal them from the enemy. They stuck out like a sore thumb.

Darr opened a channel to the whole squad, “Evi, flash them. The chances of them having auto-dimmers are low enough to risk it. Marka, you follow the grenade in. I will be behind you with the rest of the squad. When you get there, cut your way through them.”

Marka made a throaty laugh, quickly wrapping his fingers around the hilt of his vibrosword. He felt more powerful just holding it. A few images of ravaged corpses flicked across his mind, causing a wicked grin to form on the trooper’s mouth.

Before long Evi had tossed the grenade and Marka was striding down the hall behind it. It exploded, causing him only a moment of unpleasantness. He got to the blast area and turned to his left, spotting an enemy soldier right away, on the ground in the foetal position, covering his eyes. Marka stood over the body, his blade in both hands pointing down. He felt a rush of euphoria as he plunged it downwards into the exposed neck of the man.

He moved on, doing the same to another. But the effect of the blast was soon to wear off, and Marka hoped that the Raiders had taken the other side just as effectively. There were three left on Marka’s side; that he could see. The first two were looking very vulnerable, and rather scared. The furthest away wasn’t moving, at all, but showed no signs of being hit by anything.
Stepping along, Marka lifted his boot high and brought it down forcefully on the first man’s skull. Marka let loose a quiet laugh as he heard and felt the bone crunch and collapse. Apparently the second man saw that, and looked up at Marka in terror. Like a lamb to the slaughter, the man backed up against a wall, leaving virtually no way out. Marka arrived in front of him and lifted his blade. The man began to tremble and held up his hands. The swing from Marka’s blade cut the tops of most of the enemy’s fingers off before it broke through the cheekbone. The vibrosword was lodged in the skull.

Behind him, Aphamos was stepping over what was left in Marka’s wake. And he saw the Raider standing proudly over a body, one boot on the shoulder, both hands wrapped around the vibrosword, trying to wrench it out of his victim. But Marka had forgotten all about the third man, whom he had passed to execute the second one. The Republic soldier was rising slowly, a large dagger in one hand. Marka was unaware, but Aph chuckled, raising his rifle and firing, splitting apart both kneecaps of the soldier.

Marka turned as the shots were fired. Now squirming was the soldier he had neglected to finish, too enthralled in his bloodlust and the overwhelming desire to kill the other man. Aph was standing about five feet away, cradling his rifle, looking satisfied. But he didn’t gloat, he simply nodded and turned back towards the squad.

Marka did the same.

Rogue hated massacres he always felt it was cowardly to kill someone who couldn’t defend themselves. Alas he would admit it was much easier then having to avoid blaster bolts, one thing he quickly learned when he killed his first person; leave all your inhibitions somewhere safe when you’re out in the field.

The soldier before Rogue was in a pitiful state; hiding under a container and muttering a prayer to some deity or other. Perhaps he is making his peace with death? Time to arrange the meeting. The Raider trooper ended the other trooper’s life with a clean stroke through the neck.

The enemy troops were down and Rogue looked at Marka as he attempted to remove his sword from a corpse’s skull. The ASL new from previous experiences that Marka was currently in bloodlust frenzy, this was extremely noticeable with his rapid movements that were almost too quick for the human eye. Rogue could already see Marka’s demise unfold in his eyes as if it was a dream, Marka in bloodlust frenzy and charging out to attack a wall of New Republic troops are dug in, fortified. For a second the vision of Marka being torn down by multiple bolts as they passed through him appeared in Rogue’s mind.

It was without a doubt weird experience and the stunned trooper was having an internal debate over whether it was a premonition or just a thought, either way did it matter? Even if Rogue mentioned it to Marka the other trooper would probably laugh at him and say something like. “A trooper has to die sometime.” Or some other such enticing facts of life.

Rogue decided to classify it as a thought and to immediately discard it, after all what good would it be to allow your mind to linger on it? This of course turned the trooper’s mind towards other things such as the girl he met when he was at the local gym playing some team sports. He had stroke up a conversation with one of the girls and they immediately took an interest in each other. Recently Rogue had become rather taciturn and unapproachable but Kim (the girl’s name) seemed to strike through his defenses and Rogue was confused on what he should do. For some reason the usual get them in bed and see you later didn’t feel right, it was one of those rare occasions that Rogue felt like pursuing a female for something other then bed sport.

The ASL’s reverie was interrupted by his CO’s (commanding officer) voice. “We need to head to the bridge and disable the captain, and crew. Therefore we can take over the automated defenses.”

"Kika'lekki, please let me live," Namyr thought to herself as her hand tightly held each other as the ship took off.  She closed her eyes tight and her lips became a thin line, she opened her eyes wide to try to confront her fear, but could find nothing and closed her eyes tight again.  Fondly, she thought of the days where Rogueboy would annoy her enough for her to forget her fear and calm her down.

Namyr let out a sad sigh looking over at Rogueboy who was doing something on a datapad.  She admited it, she missed him, she had lost her best friend, and it felt like she had lost a lot more then that, like another half of herself.  Riqimo couldn't understand why she had cried for days after Rogueboy had yelled at her and stormed out of her apartment, probably to go drink himself to death.  And truth be told she couldn't explain to him why she cared for Rogueboy so much.

Namyr choked back tears, holding her mouth shut afraid of vomiting into her helmet as the ship lurched a little.  She resisted the urge to get up and knock the hell out of Rogueboy to knock some sense into his thick skull, didn't he know this was as hard for her as it was for him?  That he was still her best friend and that she missed him?  Namyr's hands shook as Darr went over the plan, great jumping from the ship into space in the fleeting hope of landind on another ship and be magnitized to it.  She needed to get another job, like a florist or something.

They stood up and Namyr stood last in line to jump, her one leg shook, and she was glad to be in the back so the younger recruits couldn't see her fear.  As Aphamos booted Rogueboy out of the ship, Namyr walked past him and smacked him in the back of the head.

"What, what did I do?" Aphamos asked her in wonderment, before Namyr pushed Aph out after Rogueboy and jumping herself.  Namyr let out a scream, which she hoped that the rest of the squad thought was out of fun and not out of fear.

"Clunk," her feet hit the metal of the station sticking there.  Namyr dropped to one knee to keep her dizziness in check.  An explosion overhead cleared Namyr's thought of puking and instead following behind everyone else.  They paused waiting for Evi, a new trooper that had a little too much spunk for Namyr's liking returned and gave them a thumb's up.

The Raider's were in the station before the men in the halls knew what was going on.  Instantly, Namyr's force pike was spinning preparing to take out one of the guards, only to have a shot take him down before she could even get near him.  Namyr let out a fustrated growl and turned around to see Rogueboy putting his rifle behind his back and pointing at Leon.  Namyr shook her head, biting her lip as she walked over to Marka.

"You okay Namyr," Leon murmured to her through a private channel.

'Yeah,"

"Good because I'm not doing so hot," Leon grumbled like a little kid.  After Namyr had taken care of her team, well medical wise, she was instructed to stay with Leon and Marka, until Marka was awake and when the meds took affect for Leon.  Avi because putting together so explosives to blow open a door giving Namyr time to think.

"Nams, you've seemed different you know?" Leon began again, Namyr put up a hand not wanting to talk about her personal problems right now.

Another explosion and Marka jerked awake, 'Namyr quickly told him some soothing words before she handed over the questions to Evi.  Namyr's eyes narrowed as she pulled out her rifle, seeing movement through the smoke she fired, the movement dropped to the ground and didn't make a noise.  Namyr crouched low and moved forward, glancing to the side she saw she had taken a postion next to Rogueboy.  Her lip became a thin line as she watched him fire and she returned her attention back to the smoke which was begining to clear away.  when there was no more movement both her and Rogueboy got to thier feet and moved forward, Namyr smirked as she saw Rogueboy using her silent walk she taught him as they moved.

“We need to head to the bridge and disable the captain, and crew. Therefore we can take over the automated defenses,” Darr's voice echoed over the music in Namyr's helmet, her and Rogueboy took the front, force pike in her hands, Rogueboy's rifle in his.  Normally, well back before his leave, Namyr and Rogueboy were the perfect team, he was distance she was melee, they could take down a squad of twenty and joke about it later.  Even now Namyr couldn't feel the unity they use to have, their very footsteps were out of place.

"Whatchit," Namyr growled ruffly slamming Rogueboy against the wall in time to miss gunfire, they side down behind a crate.  Namyr and Rogueboy looked at one another, and was silent for a moment.  Namyr wondered if he was wondering about their first mission together as well.

"Get back and get down!" Rogueboy yelled, firing off his rifle, breaking the moment.  Namyr's teeth grit together, her force pike humming to life.

'Like old, time, cover me okay?' Namyr murmured to Rogueboy.

"Yeah, Nams I got your back," Rogueboy said in a voice that she could almost see his grin.

"Rogue," Namyr added getting up on one knee preparing herself, "I'm sorry, and you're still my best friend, even more then that," she said gruffly bounding overt the crate in the lull in the gunfire.  Behind her she could hear Marka come out of cover as well his vibroblade humming to life.

Namyr let out a dark yell as she came onto the enemy forces and between her and Marka they easily took out the second wave, "Let's move forward," Namyr said looking ahead and waiting for the rest of the squad to catch up.

Rogue froze in his spot, did his ears just betray him or did Namyr admit that he was still a bit more then a friend with her? “Force Shit!” The assistant squad leader yelled in his helmet to no one in particular as he realized he forgot to give the suppression fire that Namyr needed in order for her to not get torn to tiny little bits of human mixed with bits of armour.

Time for heroics He thought to himself as he leaped over the crate in an attempt to offer the enemy a bigger target and to hopefully confuse them. While it didn’t exactly work; because Leon popped out and fired a quick burst which drove the NR troops down. Namyr was among them in her bulky suit weaving a beautiful pattern of death.

A thought made Rogue chuckle before completely laughing out loud it struck completely hilarious that Namyr and Rogue’s drama always played out in the battlefield. When people were more worried about dying and making peace with whatever god they pray to, these two troopers are wondering whether the other one still has feelings for them. It was ridiculous but would make for a very good holo-drama.

Rogue opened a private channel with Namyr as she was leaning against a wall in what appeared to be a cleaning droid closet as enemy troopers rained bolt after bolt into the corridor. “Nams, exactly what do you mean by that?” Rogueboy asked trying to erase any doubt in his mind that he had heard her correctly.

“You thick headed lout.” Namyr said as she continued. “Don’t make me regret what I said.” Her tone was borderline playful.

Rogue’s heart (if he indeed had one) soared and he could not help himself as he fired a gleeful shot into some NR trooper’s face just barely missing his helmet. The battle was one sided as the enemies morale was crushed and they were quickly retreating to the control room for a final confrontation.

The squad arrived to a thick blast door, Darr nodded towards the combat engineers to begin cutting it down. This was rather tricky as the enemy might get a free shot at the engineers before they had successfully cut a whole big enough. This was the perfect chance for the squad to relax with the exception of two of them.

“So Namyr why the sudden change of heart?” Rogue asked probing Nams, thinking that this renewed sense of feeling might be stemming from her wanting something from him that she had given him as a gift.

Namyr pursed her lips and was silent, why was she even talking to Rogueboy, it would probably in the end only get her in trouble with Riqimo, and make the seperation from him even more painful in the future.  She really did hate herself, moments like this made her realize how horrible of a person she was.  Would she really be that cruel to string Rogueboy along, giving him some slim hope that she would someday come back to him?  A happily ever after, even if Namyr, though bitter as she was, hoped for it, would never happen.  Happy endings weren't given to troopers, medals, ranks, and money were, happiness wasn't part of the corps agenda, and Namyr wouldn't start now in hoping it would.  But could she really live without Rogueboy?  Through all the pain they would have to go through in the future was she strong enough to let him go?  She knew she couldn't while he was on leave even with Riqimo's soft words and touches she still missed him, it felt like a piece of her had been ripped out leaving her dry and wrinkled, a shell, no more like a husk of the person she was.  Where Riqimo was her rock to keep her from being tumbled into the ocean and drowning in herself, Rogueboy was her life, giving her hope and filling her with a carefree, light feeling, giving her a reason to get out of bed and continue working.

"I didn't have a change of heart, that confrontation in my apartment in front of Riq made it clear what you thought of me, I believe your words closely resembled that I was a man eating harpy, or something along those lines," Namyr said a little bitterness showing in her voice before she smiled, "Let's face it Rogue, we might see other people, but in the end we need each other equally or we'll fall apart."

"So you don't want me to return the music pod you gave me?"

Namyr blinked few times before playfully hitting the back of Rogueboy's helmet, "Rogue, hello those were gifts, you're not suppose to take back gifts, that's rude," she said and laughed at him.

Rogue laughed but at the same time it was a nervous laugh something didn’t feel right and he was unsure of what it was. Suddenly there was an exclamation as a bunch of bolts flew out of the few holes being made from the engineers. Rogue screamed out warning, as bolts seemed to miss the engineers by mere millimeters. The ASL ran up to one of the holes and slid the barrel of his rifle through, quickly pressing the small toggle onto automatic as he opened up some suppression fire. Rogue was feeling a bit exposed until someone threw a smoke grenade through another hole.

The smoke quickly filled the battleground and they were now at a stand still; the enemy can’t accurately through the smoke (doesn’t mean they didn’t try) and the Raider’s engineers would not be able to cut through without a chance of getting hit.

“Why don’t we just breach the hull and let the vacuum take care of them?” Eviscares suggested as he wielded his plasma cutter.

“We could do that, but what’s the master plan on getting home?” Someone asked and a few of the troopers nodded agreement.

“This is a Golan defense platform.” Rogue said before continuing. “It should have its own hangar with a few ships there, we got any pilots among us?”

“I know how to fly.” Darr said surprising his ASL. “Marka and Evi, start drilling the breaches, Leon you make sure the enemy don’t try to counter-attack when Marka and Evi’s backs are turned. Everyone else with me to the hangars.”

As the troopers were walking down a corridor Rogue sidled up to Namyr. “So Nams, when we get back want to hit that new club that opened up on the corner of thirty-first and Palpatine?”

Namyr grinned. “I’ve been there with…” but Namyr cut herself off and Rogue knew she was just about to say Riqimo. Rogue had been there with another girl and spotted the couple before they had seen him. To avoid a possible confrontation and spoiling both their nights he had left. He had dropped off the bewildered girl at her house before heading on home to catch up on some much needed sleep.

The red Twi’lek seemed to glow a darker shade of red before she smiled. “I would very much like to go to the club with you Rogue.” This random politeness was completely different from the Nams that the ASL was used to and he knew something was wrong; as of yet he did not know whether he wanted to solve the problem or not.

He grew tired. Quite naturally. The tension of this mission was higher than in any other he conducted before. Not even on his flight to cepany had he felt so lost. This station seemed to be more than endless and the forces that were thrown at him and the rest of the squad were massive.
Even though they were not very dangerous and their attacks more like need pin-pricks, they were a lot. And a man could also die if you only inflicted enough of those on him.
Right now his and Markas only protection was the injured Leon, while the rest of the Squad made their way towards the Hangars.
Great..., he thought. Not that he considered Leon unable, but they surely could use some more backup.
Besides that, the idea wasn't half bad. Kill the bridge personell with the vacuum and then take a ship out.
If Darr got injured on the way to the hangar, he could always fill in. He just hadn't mentioned his flying skills because he knew Marka would need a hand up here.
"How is it coming along up there?", Rogue requested to know. When he was on the com that meant that Darr was once again talking to HQ about the newly change in plans.
"Everything fine and dandy here.", Leon replied.
And somehow Evis felt he was right. They were almost through the first layer of armor and it would only take them some more minutes to breach the hull completely.
"He Marka, if I knew that being combat engineer meant that you are always doing all the work, I would've signed up for medic or some other lame stuff like that", he said jokingly to his colleague,
earning a hearty laughter.
There had definitely been some kind of bonding between the two of them in this mission. That kind of bonding only combined efforts under enemy fire could produce.
The thought of bonding made him pause for a second. Thinking of Kami and Angel again. He still remembered Kami's muted scream of terror when he jumped that hole in the floor of the transport they were defending. A jump she had managed with the force but for Evis it had been a leap of faith. She had really taken him under her wings after that and maybe cared most about him of all those whom he met.
Clunking the heavy helmet against the wall, he got himself back to the present he was in this spacestation and had a job to do.
He fired up his plasmacutter to maximum energy output and started tearing away the thick armor molecule for molecule.

But then it happened. The burning plasma hit one of the supply pipes and ignited the normaly not very dangerous chemicals flowing inside. The sudden explosion caused a backfire in his plasmagauntlet which violently exploded. A maddening pain overcame Eviscares together with an extreme feeling of fear. It all happened so slowly but much to fast to do anything. Before the shock engulfed him, he felt the suits antidecompression system sealing of the breach, severing what was left of his right hand from his arm.

The last thing he heard before everything went pitchblack was Marka yelling for a medic.

The High Command has really done it this time...Darr's voice drifted to Dante's seat in the boarding craft.

"...find the targeting computer and destroy it with our remaining charges."

High explosive is touchy stuff. The foxtrots in Equipment better have given us working equipment or this mission will go up in smoke really fast...

With this done, the platform should be completely disabled, and we'll extract either by our boarding ship or by calling in pickup from a nearby ally.”

In other words, we'll scramble off an exploding station dodging fire from an army of hostile Rebel foxtrots and try to fly away before it blows or our vessel is commandeered. Sounds like a walk in the park.

“Get ready.”

Dante glanced at a wrist mounted readout.

Ninteen minutes till we get shot to pieces...all in a day's work, I suppose.

He sat back in his chair and fished in a small pouch. Rummaging
through it, he found what he was looking for: a small and delicate looking tool which he held in his left hand and used to tightened a connection in his mechanical right limb.

The limb he had, until recently been using had been tough but clunky. It had survived countless blaster fights and had been scored with direct hits.

However, it had been fused and ruined on his last expedition, a trip from which he had never returned. He had had it replaced with a sleek limb constructed from cortosis alloy which he had "liberated" from a Hutt's palace on said trip.
This replacement limb was amazingly responsive, acting almost instantly. Like its precursors, it had a vibroblade built into the hand and had several hollow compartments. It had a dull sheen, which Dante covered with a glove.

Dante straightened up when he heard Merrick speak over a connection .

"...authorize the use of light Spacetrooper suits. Get into them and change your plans accordingly. The bad news is, you will have to do this in the 10 remaining minutes"
Stang.

After a brief moment of silence, Darr spoke.

"You heard her. Get down to the Aft cargo bay and get into these suits!”

Dante ran with the others to change into the suit. He noted that it had several weapons systems built in but still put his DC-17 Combat System into a makeshift sling.

If those foxtrots in the High Command got it right, I shoudln't need this but since when have they been right? Better to err on the side of caution.

He finished suiting up and joined the others, hust in time to hear Darr speak.

Final minute. Time to show those Rebs a thing or two.

And with that, Dante jumped out of the airlock, DC-17 in his grasp.

The automated systems saturated the area with fire, green comets creating a tapestry of terrible beauty in the speckled ebony of space.

Dante started to spin, in order to make it more difficult for the turrent to track him. He pushed himself foward and landed with a clang on the hull of the cavernous station. The Raiders had landed.

Silently, a pair of combat engineers made a crater in the station's thick skin, catching an unfortunate New Republic trooper, who quicly died in the vaccum.

Dante looked into the man's eerily blue eyes, which were bulging in the man's death agony. He reached over and closed the unfortunate man's eyes.

If nothing else, they owed that much respect to a person who died fighting for what he or she believed in, regardless if that person was wrong or right.

The squad proceeded into the structure when everyting suddenly went to Hell. An explosive detonated prematurely, alerting the station's creq to their presence.

Stang. Those foxtrots in Supply have a lot to answer for.

Dante quickly glanced at the suits of his squadmates, and then his own. No punctures.

That was the only consolation, however, as the squad was hangin on, trying to avoid being sucking into the void, all the while dodging hasty potshots from screaming NR security forces who weren't as lucky.

A trooper actually grabbed onto Dante's limb and refused to let go.
Without hesitation, Dante raised an armoured hand and smahsed the trooper's skull in. The man's eyes rolled back into his head and he let go, his corpse flying out into space.

Better a quick, fairly painless death than choking in vaccum.

Grimly, the squad broke through a blast door. Dante heard a voice.

"Ok, Leon and Namyr, you take Marka with you until he is with us again. Evis, that leaves you as the remaining combat engineer. Get Markas charges from his belt and get us that door open. Dante, you provide cover for him while he does so. The rest watches our back. I have to get through to HQ to tell them we have a wounded trooper here. Look alive Raiders!"

"Roger that." Dante replied before moving to cover Makas.

The squad moved through the station, knowing the worst was yet to come. The resistance up to that point had been too spotty to be an accident. Then it happened, Eviscares hit a fuel pipe and there was a flash of light. Dante stood, stunned, as Markas yelled for a medic.

A blaster bolt hit the corner of where Rogue’s head was a second ago. The squad had run into an ambush of pilots leaving their barracks to enter their ships, it was fortunate perhaps there will be some ships left for us to commandeer. Rogue had thought as the men in the orange jumpsuits were armed with pistols and droids.

The droids made Rogue think of Patch, his little R2 unit who was back on Tadath waiting in a room for Rogue to return. It had saddened the ASL to think of what might happen to the little droid in case he died, then again Rogue thought it was a robot and as such had no feelings. That was not necessarily true the trooper corrected himself; the droid did give off some emotions, most of them hard to discern at first  but he had quickly understood the binary beeping sounds and was able to respond without the use of a terminal or binary translator. Rogue was now able to tell many of Patch’s moods and the droid seemed to be in high spirits as opposed to Rogueboy’s moody one as of late.

A New Republic pilot went down screaming as a bolt hit a piece of durasteel and blew shards of metal into his chest. Rogue jumped over the fallen pilot, leaving him to an agonizing slow death. It wasn’t because the Raider’s ASL was lacking in pity or was a cruel person; it was because if he took the time to put the man down it would waste his precious energy supply as well as lose the initiative in his rush. He bowled through a pilot and grabbed the man by back of his helmet as he was falling, Rogue quickly smashed the pilot’s helmet and face against the durasteel floor at least a dozen times; leaving a bloody pool of brains, skull, and mashed up metal. The squad quickly followed as the pilots performed a delaying action; a couple popping out and offering covering fire while those in front retreated to an area with better coverage.

Ahead Rogue could see a couple of X-wings parked in the hangar and the blast doors were closing behind the retreating pilots. Rogue dove through the closing blast doors and shot the keypad that controlled it. What the trooper didn’t know was that by shooting the keypad it would make the door slam shut immediately. Alex was staring at about fifteen scummy pilots who were all grinning at him.

“Shit.” Rogue yelled into his comlink as he realized the serious error that he had made. Now it came down to a hard choice; die on your feet, or live on your knees.

This is not good. was Dante's first thought. He had seen limbs and bodies in every imaginable condition and he had seen Eviscares's kinds of wounds before.

Eviscares collapsed like a rag doll while Marka yelled for a medic. Just ahead, blasterfire erupted. Apparently, the squad had run into resistance, light blaster pistols by the sound of it. Someone ran up to their position and knelt beside the fallen trooper.

The fuel had been ignited by the torch, which also combusted causing a small but powerful explosion which seared then blew chunks off Eviscares's right hand.

The Sergeant's limb might have been retrievable, however, if it hadn't been for the space combat armour he was wearing which activated the arm de-compression seal within seconds, severing the limb with a sickening crunch.Eviscares quickly fell unconscious from the pain and shock, and the medic did what could be done.

Knowing that his meager experience in treating wounds wouldn't be of much use, and also fully aware he would probably get in the way, Dante moved to join the rest of the squad at their position, boots crunching delicate electronics from eviscrated combat droids.

He found the squad clustered around a blast door, trying to break through it. Apparently, Rogueboy had lept through as the doors were closing and had, for some reason, blasted the controls on the other side.

If only Rogueboy had brough Patch. Might as well wish for a Star Destroyer while I'm at too...

Now the squad was trying to break through in order to join him. Suddenly, blaster fire flew just over Dante's helmet.

A team of New Republic troops had emerged from a service corridor and were trying to pot the squad. Several were put out of action with a flury of blasterfire.

Using the strength the suit provided him with, Dante slammed an armoured fist into a Bothan trooper, breaking several of the Rebel's ribs, before smashing his skull in with the butt of his DC-17.

He shook the gore and cranial matter off before resuming fire. The rest of the unfortunate team fell swiftly to concentrated fire from the Raiders. Panicked a Faleen tried to run but fell with a smoking and charred back.

With that threat dealt with, they resumed their efforts to break through the doors, bringing cutting tools to bear in a fresh attempt to get to the other side of the metal portal.

Possibly live or die it wasn’t a hard choice for Rogue to make; he wasn’t a gambler. A short burst fired out of his customized A280 killed one pilot and injured another; there was no nearby cover that Rogueboy could utilize so he had to rely on the pilots’ inexperience with firearms. The Raider’s ASL ran as fast as he could towards an X-wing in an attempt to use it as cover; he couldn’t fly the damn thing because he had no idea how.

There was an explosion and Rogue was hurled at least five feet closer to his destination as one of the fuel dispensers was hit by a stray blaster bolt and ignited. A hole was blown through the hangar floor and the containment field sputtered before fading. The magnetic locks were still in place from when he had activated them outside and was thankful as the pilots we sucked out. The ships remained in place as they had magnetic clips that kept them in place held.

Rogue tuned into the squad chatter and a heard a few screams for a medic and Namyr responding. There were a few calls for him especially after the explosion but the ASL ignored those for now; he needed a break. The trooper was sore and his leg was making an odd popping sound every time he took a step, but it wasn’t broken. He took a seat and leaned up against the wall right next to the blast doors and closed his eyes, applying some mental techniques that Namyr had taught him in order to numb the pain and to calm his mind.

“I repeat Rogue are you alright?” A worried voice said over the comlink, a private channel was beeping rather annoyingly; it was Namyr asking if he was all right

“I’m alright, need to find a way out of this hangar. How is Evi doing?” Rogue asked his concern for the quiet trooper fairly genuine; he had always preferred a quiet trooper to a raucous one.

“He lost his arm and his blood pressure is extremely low, if we don’t get him to a hospital he might be in some serious trouble. Darr is working on the door to get it open but says its some kind of NR code that he has never seen before. Going to take him a while before he can crack it, so you’re going to have to sit tight.”  Namyr said in a resigned tone.

“How are you holding up?” Rogue said to strike up some idle chatter.

“I hate space, nothing out here but stupid rocks and dead bodies.” Namyr said in a childish pout tone.

Rogue laughed as he remembered the hole the explosion caused through the floor. “Nams I’m going to jump down to the floor under us. Crap I gotta tell that to Darr.”

He had been dropped off out of range of the Golan II, now he floated towards the beast slowly. For an hour he had floated towards it, spinning end over end, hoping he looked just like a piece of space debris. The small blind spot was dead ahead on his hud, a area that reports showed the sensors to be currently none operational, atleast he hoped that was still the case.

Touching down a few meters away from where his squad had entered the station, he unhooked his modified DC-15 and scanned the area. Luckily no one had noticed his approach, otherwise the massive turbo lasers would of left nothing of his body to be picked up. Just as his feet engaged maglock onto the surface a explosion rippled through the station several hundred feet away, bodies and equipment began pouring out of the ruptured surface.

Clicking on his comlink he heard his squad talking, but they couldn't hear him due to them not having his comlink access code. Thankfully he had theirs from fleet command, and friend or foe identity so he could respond accordingly to any code they gave him.

It appeared someone was trapped alone in the hangar. Quickly making his way to the hangar entrance he floated into the deactivated containment field and met up with the first member of his new squad.

He was standing in the middle of the hangar, with his hands out to the sides. His modified DC-15 was slung around his back as a customized A280 was aimed dead center of his chest. Right when he touched down he transmitted the friend or foe comlink access, command had given him. He was really hoping the squad had not changed codes, otherwise he was about to be blown back into space. The trooper who had him aimed dead center was shouting, demanding to know who he was. He could see the trigger being ever so slowly pulled back, his own had was making slow move to one of his DC-15s. Just then at the bottom of his HUD the message comlink established flashed.

"Private First Class, Joamer Reistlin. Raiders Squad. Do not fire, I repeat, do not fire. Identity confirmation, code zero zero one alpha, niner five omega. Squad leader please confirm." Joamer nearly shouted.

Couple tense moments later a haggard voice broke the silence, "Identify confirmed, friend or foe code acknowleged. Rogue, don't fire just yet. Tell me a good story, or I will order Rogue to vape you."

"I set out two days ago from the Academy. I was assigned to this Squad. I jumped in to the fleet staging area, and received the code. A ship dropped me off out of range of the station and I floated in. I assumed the Hangar would be the best bet, since I heard someone was stuck in here alone." He explained, then waited.

"Welcome to the Raiders." someone said as the blast doors opened, and the rest of the squad ran in and took up positions to eather side of the door. One of two of the squad was limping, another was being supported by two people, who seemed to be unconscience and in bad shape. Slipping his DC-15 back around he kneeled down beside one of the crates still in the hangar.

"Alright, heres the situation for anyone who has been asleep the past few minutes. We have several people wounded, and one unable to walk who needs medical attention very soon. The way I see it we have two choices remaining. Eather we go for a nice walk outside and blow the command center up that way, or we hijack some of these nice ships, and blow the room up on our way out." Darr-Rann said.

"How many can that shuttle hold?" someone asked.

"It's a old E-9 Explorer, eight, four crew, four passengers." Joamer said. "We have, what, two pilots with us."

The squad leader looked up as Joamer said that, and saw him looking at one of the X-wings. Just then the containment field came back online. Energy rounds began shooting overhead as the Golan crew got into position and began firing again.

"Joamer you fly the shuttle, I'll take the X-wing." Darr said as he fired a few shots then ducked back to reload.

"Sir, I'm the new kid. I'm the expendable one. I should be the one to attempt it." He said as he downed two men who had tried to run into the hangar.

"Got it!" someone shouted, just as the secondary blastdoors closed, effectively blocking them off from the rest of the station. Everyone began checking weapons during the brief break.

"Evi needs a med bay very soon, sir." Nams said into the silence.

"It's your choice, sir." Joamer said as he eyed the shuttle and the X-wings again.

The squad’s morale was rather high despite the fact that they had an unconscious trooper near death, an enemy navy that can come in at any given second, and an enemy inside the Golan II that is unwilling to give it up without a fight. Then Darr busted Rogue’s bubble of escaping this place unscarred, as they were about to board the ship and take off.

“Guys, we still need to blow this station before we leave.” Darr said softly to the squad. It was at that moment that Rogueboy killed Darr a million and one ways in his mind.

He opened a private channel with his squad leader. “Darr it will take them a couple of years to properly fix the life support systems with how badly we damaged it. We need to get Eviscares out of here before he dies.” Rogue said hoping that Darr would agree and take the squad back home, back to safety. He was feeling some really bad vibes if they stayed here.

“Rogue you can leave with those that want to, but I will report you, and demote you for insubordination. I do not want to, don’t force me to. High Command gave us a mission to do and we will do it or die.” Darr said strictly showing that he will follow up with his threat.

The ASL knew better then to argue. “Gunnery Sergeant Darr-Rann, I am with you until the death. Sir.”

It was rare that Rogue used Darr’s full name and rank; he only used it when he needed to emphasize a point.

“We can’t move Evi without risking him further, load him onto the shuttle and we’ll leave some men behind to guard him; LK, Dante, Leon, and Sylix will stay behind to guard Eviscares and the shuttle. Namyr, Joamer, Rogue, and Marka will come with me to disable their reactor which will cause a cataclysmic explosion that will destroy the entire platform.” When the SL finished the squad began dividing themselves accordingly.

The fact that they were going blind with nothing more then directional signs posted on the walls that would direct them to the engineering bay, and whatever else might be on board.

There was no more fooling around as the squad made their way to the reactor. They were mad as hell that Evi had lost his arm and while there was virtually no more enemies left to butcher anything in their way will pay the price. This was easily demonstrated when a table was knocked over by a running Rogueboy who in a slight fit of anger found the four legged object mocking him.

The squad easily reached the reactor room following the signs that were posted up in the halls. Ironically it was the thought of helping a new recruit find his way around the Golan that was now aiding the Raiders into its destruction.

The view was rather disturbing as the squad turned the corner and saw the bodies of engineers floating around. Every once in a while one of them would get zapped by the reactor as they slid towards it. The reactor would split the body in half and unleash a huge amount of blood that would float around the room.

Rogueboy heard someone gag but he had seen worse, has held worse, and knew that things were only going to get worse before they got better. Marka quickly placed the remote charges in a circle around the reactor.

"If that doesn't knock it out of its cradle, nothing will." The Engineer said.

This alerted Darr. "What are the possibilities of that?" The now worried squad leader asked.

Marka was thoughtful and it was the first time Rogue had ever seen the trooper really think about a situation. "Perhaps one in a thousand." The trooper said after a few seconds of thinking.

"I'd bet on it." Rogue said in an attempt to relay Darr's fears.

"You'd bet on a womp rat versus a rancor." Darr responded.

"Only if the paying odds are more then five hundred to one." Rogue said cheerfully.

Darr laughed. "Let's head to the ship and get the hell out of here."

The squad headed towards the ship, when they arrived they boarded and as the Golan disappeared from the viewports an alarm sounded in the transport ship. There was a fleet exiting hyperspace, at the same time Marka pressed the detonator and the Golan II platform erupted in a huge flame and shrapnel like particles.

Darr hit the hyperspace and the ship left the system in a path that would take them back to Tadath, and home.
