Alright- just finished the final book today: and I'll say that I wasn't overlly surprised by the ending, but none the less- awesome.  I totally new the entire time Snape was good and that Harry would survive, but I wasn't so sure about Hermoine and Ron- when I read the chapter "Battle of Hogwarts" I was sitting up on the edge of my seat, waiting for the line that read- "And Hermoine's eyes saw no more..."  I probably would have burned the book.  What would have been worse is if she didn't add that bit on the end about how everything is rockin 19 years later: that really pulled everything together for me.  They did something similar with the OC when they cancled it, a lot more rushed, but good strategy usually. 

Favorite part of the book?  When Dobby shows up out of friggen nowhere and romps everyone's crap.  His gravestone was wicked as well though- "Here lies Dobby- A free elf..."  Favorite Character?  In light of how the movies potrayed him, I think Serious Black.

I know I must not be alone in this, that is if there are any Harry Potter fans around- but I'm experiencing a loss, a numbness if you will.  It has yet to really hit me, but there'll be no more looking forward to the next book- my summers will have to be complete via re-reading the books or watching the movies.  Speaking of which- I suppose there are the movies to wait for: though they won't be near as excellent as the books, they may be somewhat fulfilling, let us hold on a little longer.  What I find most remarkable is that JK might as well have an era dedicated to Harry Potter- I know I've grown up with both the books and the movies: in this last book, Harry and I hit the same age, and the actors who play the characters in the movies are my exact same age as well.  Anywho- I thought there needed to be a post at least dedicated to this, seeings how there wasn't one: friggen history, I tell you what.  I actually have a friend who read it in one sitting- wish I would have

A bit nasty that she killed Fred off, I'm with you Aeos, out of all the deaths this was the one that really hit me. Poor poor George

I got the book yesterday and spent the entire day reading it. It was great...bit sad to think there might not be anymore.

I dont have a favourite part either but one that stands out for me is when everyone's in the great hall and there all given the option to fight and Slytherin wanna give Harry up, and everyone else turns on them. I also liked how Snape was given his time to show that everything he'd ever done was out of love for Lily.
Even people like Wormtail were given there moments to show they they werent completely bad.

And I cant believe you guys are forgetting Mad-eye...

I think the most tragic two were Hedwig and Dobby. Incidentally though I was very happy to see that the minister died. Also good use of profanity by Mrs. Weasley!

I have to say, having Colin Creevey killed off in that book was a tad disturbing... But Neville was badarse. He decapitated a friggin' snake.

I highly doubt they'll do any more movies past the seventh book. There is nothing for a movie, and Rowling would most likely highly disapprove.

There will be no more films past the books. It was one of the conditions on J.K. Rowling letting WB do the films. They can do films on the books but they cant do there own thing unless she gives permission.

Yeah, but there could be fan films that don't directly have to do with Harry.

oh that, i think i read somewhere that She doesn' say yes or no, but says that she doesn't plan to, but she can't say that it's not possible.

One thing I was a little disappointed about was the epilogue, It only mentioned the future of 6 characters. and not much of them at that. It raised certain questions like whose daughter was Victoire's? Albus's cousin, must be a Weasley, but there's too many Weasleys lol. and what happened to Hogwarts? We only know that Neville became the Herbology teacher, and I'm  guessing McGonagall becamem Headmistress. but who's teaching DADA? and what happened to Hagrid? I would certainly like to know more about the careers and stuff of most of the characters. But I think I can guess that most of the members that were in DA became Aurors. And there's also Kretcher, no mention of him or any other house elves. He was my fav char in this book. Surprising how much he changed after Harry became his master. He was even willing to serve a mudblood.

I also wish for more Darr. We'll see what is tto come, I guess.

I must say, it was pretty excellent turning the page and seeing- "The Battle of Hogwarts."  This is going to make an epic movie.

I was talkin to somebody about this though, and wasn't amazing how quickly she killed off Voldemort?  Yea, there were about a hundred pages in build-up, but it wasn't a battle really, one final cast.  Maybe that's where the magic of it is though- Harry gets Voldemort with something simple.  "Old Magic' - great stuff.

And, for me, I think it would have been awesome if J.K. made it look like Harry was with Ginny, and then 19 years later, he shows up with Cho.  Everyone goes- what happened to Ginny?

But people these days, some mary someone that's 30 years older than them. Although that only happens in Hollywood.
