In the November Issue of "Game Informer" there is an article titled, "Ubisoft Titles Exposed". Apparently a list of future games was mistakingly put onto their public FTP site. these are games that were included on the list: (bold are the games the I think will be the biggest hits.)

I did hear that they were making a Splinter Cell 5: Conviction.
With the ending of SC: Double Agent, I wonder what adventures/storyline Conviction will have. -----------------------

There's three possible endings depending on what you do throughout the game, but I'm pretty sure that Conviction will continue the "story" with you choosing the NSA side. -----------------------

Highly doubtful. That would require a lot more programming and planning on the part of Ubisoft. Besides, it's Splinter Cell, so you're going to be an NSA agent. -----------------------

Conviction-Law.
The judgment of a jury or judge that a person is guilty of a crime as charged.
The state of being found or proved guilty: evidence that led to the suspect's conviction.
Perhaps it starts with continuing what happened if you chose the terrorist side and got caught or something. It would be a nice twist in the storyline. -----------------------

but it could be what your saying where the last one was when you became a double agent now the NSA is trying to convict you of it. So this time you work as the criminal side and fight to prove that it was all part of your mission.

Oooh... I think I know.
WARNING!!! WARNING!!! WARNING!!! POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW!
When you choose the terrorist side, the law is after you. When you choose the neutral side, the law is after you. When you choose the side of the NSA, you're morally in good standing, but the government doesn't know of your deeds because, as a Splinter Cell soldier, you do not exist. The NSA ending leaves Sam Fisher disarming the bomb that was meant to destroy New York and jumps overboard from the boat that held both the terrorists and the bomb. The game ends in "To Be Continued" and it does imply that the law is looking for him.
So, I'm pretty certain you do not start the game as a criminal because, well, you're Sam Fisher and he's a government agent (it's always been that way). What I think will happen is that he will become an outlaw of sorts with the government. The NSA may still be on his side, but the rest of the U.S. government doesn't know that, and he's still "non-existant". It'll truly be an interesting game since your boss, Lambert, dies and all. I wonder who the new "head of the NSA" will be. -----------------------
