Hello Everyone
I'm Iella Eclissu, the new recruit in the Naval Academy, and I look forward to getting to work. I imagine most of you familiar with 1337 know that's a joke, even though I don't play much in the way of video games much. So anyway I'll just give a brief run through for Iella and we'll get started.
I don't know if a complete profile is required or any applications, but it never hurts to help, and anyone who decides to read will atleast get a nice overall idea of what Iella is and everything.
===========
Iella is a 5 foot 8 inch tall human female from Corellia. Born and raised in an Imperial household, Iella's father was a member of CorSec (Corellian Security), before the planet was 'liberated' by the New Republic from the rightful rule of the Imperial Diktat.
Using simulators in CorSec, Iella learned to fly the Incom model Z-95 and the later model X-Wing Starfighter. When the New Republic came calling on Corellia, Iella stole an X-Wing starfighter and made off towards the nearest Imperial held world. Upon arrival, Iella's X-wing was confiscated and she entered into the Naval Academy.

Actually I think it does count for a bio, just needs to be a little longer. Welcome to the VE, pilot, try not to crash in an asteroid or something equally unmaneuverable. ----------------------- He will give them death, and they will love him for it -Gladiator

Welcome to the Vastest of Empires, Pilot
It does count as a Bio. and it does have a good baseline but i believe you can improve.
if a new recruit shows up with a completed Bio it shows that you are dedicated to writing.
The Training officer Shazam will breif you more on this matter and what to do from here.
enjoy your stay here ----------------------- Aegis Squadron

*Complimentary Opening Post  *
Howdy- I'm the commander of Training and thus- you're trainer. As of right now you are a part of our academy family, better known as Venom Squadron. There is a thread on the Main ComNet for communication between Academy members you may use if you so choose. Anywho, you are currently in Flight School, a latter part of Basic Training- from here we will prepare you for a squadron. The process takes a little under a week if you stay consistant, but you need to be trying or it could take longer.
Right off we're going to create your character- follow the link below to be taken to Flight School. From there read Chapter 1: Character Creation and then post your bio on this thread. I'll critque it then; perhaps look at some other bios around here.
http://www.vastempire.com/wiki/index.php?title=Flight_School_%28FS%29
---
Well, you've started to work on your bio apparently: good deal. However, I'd like you to read through our little manual first and make the appropriate corrections that it points out before I go through it with you. Primarilly that of a longer, more specific history and a breif outline of your physical and emotional status. In short: how you look and act to the other members of the VEN. Hope you enjoy your time here: rock on.

==============
Personally submitted history:
Iella was born on Corellia, in a small village about 100 miles from Coronet City. Shortly after her birth, Iella's family moved to Coronet City when her father was transfered to the CorSec offices there. Iella grew up as a typical Corellian youth: Rebellious, Adventurous, and Free-Spirited.
When Iella was 17, she was arrested shortly after graduation from primary school. Friends talked her into going to a party, and drinking alcohol and then joining them as they walked home. She was found half-nude lying in a fountain early the next morning, passed out. In exchange for joining the CorSec academy, all charges and marks on her record were dropped. (A copy remains as a back-up file only).
CorSec training was where Iella's natural piloting abilities came to light, showing she had great promise on fast starfighters during quick, tenacious battles. Maintenance and other important factors made the space branch of CorSec a natural choice for the upcoming pilot.
After graduation, Iella was asked to join her father on a patrol of Treasure Ship Row, the row of casinos and other buildings known for the gambling and crime. Iella's father went off to pursue a criminal, and Iella chased his partner. A quick run down an alley revealed another crime in progress. Before Iella's eyes, she watched a young girl get her throat slit after she made her employer, a Hutt with a branch of casinoes on Corellia with nude dancing girls, angry.
Iella called out, and the man pulled a pistol and shot her in the gut. Falling on the ground, eyes wide and filled with pain and fear, she watched him stalk off into the night. Before her eyes, she watched the young woman try to fill her lungs with air, before she finally expired. The experiance left Iella with a new-found respect for law and order.
Later, she saw Imperial Intelligence bring in the man who'd shot her and killed the girl, linking him and the business to the Hutt and shutting it down. While it angered CorSec (because of the intense distrust between the two organizations), she thought that the Imperials were the best chance for law and order in the galaxy.
Later, when Corellia pledged itself to the New Republic, Iella decided that disorder had finally spread to Corellia. At the time she was serving on one of the CorSec Security stations set up in orbit around the planet. She set up the roster to show that she was out on patrol, and then, before anyone could stop her, she entered hyperspace. Her parents found a letter addressed to them, explaining she had to leave to maintain order in the galaxy.
Iella knew her parents would be bitter, because of their distrust of Imperial motives. She later received a message, relayed to her by an automated holonet transceiver, that promised her a home if she ever needed it. While they didn't support the Empire, they trusted their daughter to do what was right.
==============
Personality:
Iella is a very cautious individual, playing her cards close to her vest until she's sure that people around her are playing square and on the level. She usually focuses on making sure protocols are enforced, but when necessary can think on the fly to ensure what needs to be done is done, often to the dismay of commanding officers.
==============
I hope this clears up any questions and if necessary I can either put the two together or make necessary changes. Please let me know if anything needs fixing.

Excellent work- you know your SW Universe, which is good for any new recruit here. However- its my job to be picky- so I shall.
You say that your character likes to stick to protocol- are you saying she's a snitch? Lol. Does she irritate others with how pessimistic she is with rules? Does she follow them to the furthest degree? If so- lets hear it. What I'm trying to tell you is your history is important, but telling us how to explain your character is more so. A lot of the people around here aren't commanders, so the chances of you breaking orders are going to be few, although I'm sure you'll have your opportunity. Instead, I'd like to hear a little more about how your character is with people- you say she doesn't trust very easily, or at least not until she thinks all the cards are on the table so to speak, but say a random person came up to her on her first day- how might that go down? Do you see what I'm looking for? Does your character seem happy, sad, nice, angry, unwelcoming? Exceptionally quiet? Loud and obnoxious? Calculating? You've given me a vague description and I just ask you to say the words you are looking for- don't be bashful: just say it, lol.
Just in case you wanted some comments on your history- its pretty good but I think it lacks some delving in areas. Like how you spoke about how she was pressured into drinking at a party by her friends- is she easily manipulated or just unpopular, using this as a hope for reaching out to others? Again- its about understanding just whats behind those actions- the motives. Once we know that, we can talk about your character and actually include you in stories. Also- your character's mother and father inculcated her character's fascination with fighters into her mind, or did she end up liking it on her own somehow? Perhaps a mixture between her easy-to-manipulate personality and devotion to her work separate her from her peers and further her dedication to justice How about the fact that your file was only kept as a back-up- I believe that to be your idea of hint as to the power your parents had in the ranks of CorSec and their dedication to upholding thier honor. Yes or no? Were they always pushing her? How did she react through it? Your bio is already at a very high level, but I think its a little too profile and less personal. You can be breif and still get emotion across, your whole lay-out isn't necesary, lol. Although, hey- its your party: I'd just ask you let a little more personal side in on this. Your story will build as you write and ideas will string together to bring about a specific reference to how she should react- I'm just pointing out things for fun, lol.
Those are just my comments though
Your bio is acceptable at this point, if you could help me out with at least some of the things I mentioned, primarily the first set of request, that would be exquisite. You may move onto Chapter 2: Pilot Procedure. Make sure to post the assignments in here or we may never see them- keep up the good work. You're doing excellent- Rock On. ----------------------- *Flash Was Here...*

I'm going to go ahead and make a post, and if I could get someone to help me out that'd be great. I intend to post later on about the things requested, but right now my AC isn't working so I'm not in the most accomidating of moods.
Also, for the record, I don't know if there's anything listed as to what the Imperial Naval Academy looks like, so I'm going with what I know of Imperial architecture, and combining it with some of the things I think would be found in any academy.
====================
Rain pelted against the transparisteel dome overhead, thunder clapping and making the plates vibrate in their holdings. Lightning lit up the dark sky in brief flashes, but for the most part everything outside the dome was pitch black.
Inside the dome, however, it was warm and inviting. A droid sat powered down, the bar closed for the night, and the only ones there helped themselves to non-alcoholic beverages and small snacks. The pelting of the rain sounded like far away bolt repeaters on some ancient field of battle.
A differant sound briefly caught the attention of the service personel as a ship roared overhead. Most pilots jumped up from where they were sitting, heading for the doors. The sound of an Incom X-Wing was a sound they'd learned to fear. But the alarms remained quiet, the stormtroopers continued their standard rounds, as if nothing was amis. The pilots, briefly baffled, continued on to the hangar. When they arrived, they saw a most incredible sight: An X-Wing was landing in the hangar, a red and white astromech turning and looking around with it's holoreceptor.
The X-Wing looked fairly new, though the occassional dark streak on the hull was testament to the numerous battles it had fought over the years. And unlike most New Republic fighters, it didn't bare any mark of the NR. A green stripe from nose cone to just behind the cockpit, and the CorSec insignias, led the fighter pilots to trust that it was simply a fighter that had wandered a little too far from home.
Climbing out of the cockpit, Iella wore a green CorSec uniform, and climbed down the ladder one of the techs provided. Hitting the deck she turned, and saw an Imperial Lieutenant approach.
"What is your business here?" He asked in a gruff voice.
Iella stood rigid "I've come to escape the fall of the Empire on my home planet of Corellia. I brought my X-Wing and astromech droid with me to make the long trip."
The Lieutenant regarded her for a moment, then turned to one of the stormtroopers who had slipped in behind him. Iella cursed herself, having paid too much attention on him. "Escort her to a set of quarters while we investigate her story." The stormtrooper nodded, and walked behind her. Another stormtrooper at the entrance to the cooridor turned and marched ahead of her as it led her down the cooridor. Behind her, just before the doors closed, she heard her astromech tweetle at her, a sad tone as it watched her leave.
====================
Several days later, after Imperial Intelligence had finally finished raking her brain with their claws, they pronounced she was here of her own accord, and that she could be trusted. She was sure if there was any evidence of New Republic dealings, however, she would have had a much more... thorough... going over. For now she was glad she didn't have to endure much more.
====================
Abrae, in the Vectra System, was a fairly modest world, mostly built on messas and in valleys, that made the bases easy to defend. The massive Imperial Naval Acadamy was a huge building, built as much above ground as below. While the Academy trained students, it followed traditional Imperial architecture, rising up out of a raised duracrete plaza with massive spires flanking the entrance. The face of the academy slanted backwards, but about halfway up, in the center a transparisteel section rose vertically from the face, overlooking the massive courtyard where the insignia of the Naval Academy sat flanked on both sides by the insignias of all the squadrons that had trained there.
Walking over the seal, Iella felt small and tiny, much as she always felt, and the fact that the building had also been built to appear taller than it actually was, only served to heighten that feeling. Inside the front entrance of the academy, banners of every Imperial world to send someone to the academy hung over the polished black marble. From there it opened into the Interior Plaza, where small stalls catered to the trainees with food, gifts, and necessities.
She stood in awe of it all, when suddenly someone slapped her on the back. "Impressive, isn't it?"
Iella nearly jumped out of her skin, turning to see a Twi'lek standing there. He was laughing, his sharp teeth clearly visible "You scared me!" she said, a little too loud. A few heads turned to look at her, and her face flushed red.
The Twi'lek smiled, showing his fearsome teeth again "Sorry about that. I'm Ornt'aa" he extended a green hand. She took it, feeling his sharp nails gently press into her wrists.
"You're one of the first to actually say anything to me. Most everyone else pretends I don't exist, even when I come up and scare them. But you seem... differant"
She blushed, but nodded. Growing up on Corellia, it was a common sight to see non-humans and humans together, some closer than others. Some of the humans looked at her, and then started talking in hushed voices. She didn't care, because she was an outcast most of the time anyway.
====================
It was a simulator run, but on one of the capital ship simulators. The ship resembled the bridge of an Imperial Star Destroyer, though simulations of Victory and Super Star Destroyers went on there as well. She was stationed at one of the comm stations, to test her familiarity with Imperial comm systems. One thing that the instructors failed to remember was that most comm systems operated the same, because there was no reason the systems should be differant.
As the simulation began, it was calm at first, though then the battle grew fierce. One of the panels near her exploded, and she ran over to help the trainee who was down. It was the Twi'lek from earlier, Ornt'aa. He had burns on his hands and face from a power spike.
"Medic to the bridge!" she yelled. No one else had made a move to help her or Ornt'aa. A pair of medics rushed in and scooped the Twi'lek onto a repulsor gurney, then rushed out. Iella hurried back to her station, but the instructor hidden among the trainees had already taken notes.
====================
The office was plain, but inside she could hear the trainee that had arrived ahead of her getting a thorough dressing-down by the instructor. The profanities and words flew out of the office, and it was almost impossible NOT to hear them. She sat at rigid attention, and was glad she did, for suddenly the door flew open and the trainee went flying back, hitting the door leading out into the cooridor before it could open. The instructor stood in the door "Consider yourself expelled." He turned and looked at Iella and her cheeks flushed. "Recruit, in my office."

Sorry to everyone expecting something a bit... longer... but I'm running low on sleep and my AC is out, so I'm cooking and typing at the same time. But I felt that the story needed to be complete.
Also this was completed last night I just lost internet until this morning. Looking back over it it seems terrible but... meh I say go with it.
Standing at attention infront of the instructor's desk was like standing on a giant target and it was made to zero in turbolasers. He walked around and sat down in his large leather chair, the leather creaking as it resettled to accomidate his weight. He places his hands wide on the desk, and gave Iella a withering gaze. "Recruit, I want you to explain to me why you did what you did in that simulator. I want you to explain everything in detail, and I don't want to hear anything left out."
She swallowed, but her throat still felt dry and constricted. She adjusted the collar, and then took a deep breath. "Sir. I left my post to tend to a fellow crewman injured during the training excersize."
He nodded, and then sat back in his chair. "Why?"
She blinked, and looked at him, to make sure he was serious. And indeed he was. "Sir, no one would attend to his injuries. He was burned badly and I knew that leaving my post was wrong, but he needed assistance immediately."
He regarded her statement for a moment, then nodded. "Good work, crewman."
She blinked. "Sir?"
He smirked and stood. "The Empire is changing, crewman. We're no longer the Empire that sat on Imperial Center and sent fleets to crush rebellions. Now we're having to conserve. And that means letting in non-humans to help swell our already thin ranks. Most humans still believe in the Human Superiority, but you... you're from Corellia aren't you?"
She nodded "Yes sir, CorSec"
He nodded. "Yes, CorSec. You know that criminals aren't limited to humans or non-humans. You also are used to growing up around non-humans. I imagine the transition isn't as great for you here, but for some of the recruits coming in this is their first experiance with non-humans. You've set a good example by helping that non-human. I'm sure you saw the trainee... I'm sorry, civilian... that came before you? That was the trainee who was closest to the non-human you helped. He knew that non-human was there, and he could've assisted, since he had a non-important station. Instead he watched. We don't need trainees like that. But you did leave your post, so I'm going to have to issue some punishment. You must write a report of the situation and submit it to my office. Dismissed Crewman."
She stared at the instructor, then his comment of dismissal jarred her brain and she saluted. "Yes Sir" she turned on her heel and strolled out.

Several weeks later Iella found herself heading towards her first actual flight. While simulators were excellent for getting a pilot used to what they might face, nothing beat the real thing. The cooridors she walked were absent any decoration, save for the occassional name plate or holosign. She wore a black uniform of light, fire resistant fabric, but she carried her gloves and helmet under her arm. Slung over her shoulder is the ship's life-support apperatus, minus the canisters for air.
She walked out into the hangar, the gleaming black metal floor reflecting her image fairly well, as well as the row upon row of Twin Ion Engine Interceptors hanging in racks overhead. The hangar was ment to accomidate ships that required landing gear, but a tunnel in the rear connected to the recovery bay and maintenance shops, with a single moving rack to transport the TIEs without turning on their engines.
She walked to one of the supports for the overhead rack, and stood on the small metal plate in the center that served as a lift. As she accended, she saw other pilots and a few support personell moving about, getting ready to launch. Some of the more monitary wealthy pilots had special gloves and helmets. But the rest made do with the standard issue equipment and put in alot of time and effort to make their equipment shine.
The TIE she chose appeared new, but that was indeed a deception. Climbing inside she could see where someone hadn't put a fresh coat of paint on one of the sides, and some of the blaster scoring was still visible. A tech peeked overhead and looked down. "Everything good to go Crewman?"
She nodded "If you could please get me about... three... canisters for my life support I'd appreciate it."
The tech nodded and moved off. In the meantime, Iella went about making sure everything worked. She plugged the life support in, then was surprised to find the tech had returned so soon. He handed her the canisters and she thanked him, before plugging one in. She could smell the cool air coming out, and then turned it off. She wouldn't need it while still inside the hangar. She flicked the switch next to the hatch overhead, causing it to close and seal. She flicked on her life support so she didn't suffocate, then put on the small comset. The little headset had a speaker next to her ear, a wire holding it on her head, and a microphone that she could speak through when she turned it on. She clicked the comm over to her tactical frequency for this flight, and could hear some of the pre-mission chatter that sometimes came through.
"Hey 4, did you get a load of 8?"
"Yeah I did 5. You think he made someone mad?"
"From the looks of it maybe a rancor. I don't think he's flying today"
"Then who's taking his place? I counted 12 pilots including me just before I hopped in"
"That's that CorSec girl that flew the X-wing in the other day, remember?"
"Oh yeah, her"
She shook her head and turned the volume down, then went about checking everything out. The TIE controls were the same as the simulator, but Interceptors never carried missiles since there wasn't any space for them, so the standard missile controls were gone, though the ones in the VEN were modified to carry them. Training equipment was usually built to keep screw-ups from happening, thus the lack of missiles incase someone accidentally shot one off and wasted it. Otherwise it was the same. She checked the rear viewport, then compared it to the wireframe model above and to the left of the front viewport. It showed a wireframe model of what was behind her, and she nodded, content. She went ahead and flicked her lasers into linked burst, and zeroed them in at 250 meters infront of her ship. For ground straffing it was better to have the lasers set to zero in at 850 meters, but in the confusing, quick pace of space battles it wasn't uncommon for ships to only be travelling a few hundred meters ahead.
Then came the complicated task of strapping in. The numerous restraints were often called 'webbing' by pilots because it felt like wrapping up in a thick spider web. She double checked everything, tugging on it and making sure nothing gave too much, then settled into the ejection chair. It was soft, but that was mostly because she was lucky and got one of the few that had leather seats. She picked up her helmet and attached the life support hose, then slipped it over her head. Cool air came through the bottom, and she took a few breaths to calm down. She had a small problem with claustrophobia, and sometimes helmets, especially fully-enclosed helmets, made her have panic attacks. Fortunately the cool air helped calm her down, and she turned the comm volume back up.
"Alright trainees listen up. Welcome to the Feral Ewok Training Squadron. I'm Captain Hesh. I want everyone to comm in with their status, and if there are ANY problems, notify me and we'll try to get it straightened out. For some of you this is your first time in a TIE cockpit, so there will be a few difficulties. Alright, starting with Ewok 2, give me your status."
"Ewok 2, two lit and ready to go"
"Ewok 3, ready to fly"
"Ewok 4, sir my engines won't... there they go... alright two lit and green"
"Ewok 5, I can't... there we go... sorry I couldn't get the last restraint to go in. It was warped"
"5, log it when we get back for a tech to look at. It's minor enough we don't have to worry about it for this flight."
"Yes Sir"
"Ewok 6, both engines kickin'"
"Ewok 7, both engines green"
She took a deep breath and clicked on her comm "Ewok 8, ready when you are lead"
"Ewok 9, ready to break some hearts"
"Ewok 10, two lit and ready to punch 9"
"Ewok 11, 100% and surrounded by idiots"
"Ewok 12, ready to fly"
Overhead, a row of indicator lights began to change. The lights formed a T, with one above the doors that slowly changed from red on the left to green on the right. The red lights that went perpendicular to the first set were for the racks of fighters behind the first group. The first set went from red, to yellow, then finally to green. There was a lurch as the hooks disengaged, and the TIEs fell. The pilots quickly hit the engines, and the fighters took off before they could hit the floor, travelling through the atmospheric containment field. The next set then dropped when the light went out, and they engaged their engines, flying along the hangar before exiting through the atmosphere containment field. Iella took a deep breath, one hand on the throttle, the other on the controls. Suddenly she felt her stomach leap into her throat, and then she threw the throttle forward, and her stomach settled back down as her TIE flew almost faster than she could register out of the hangar. She focused and saw the others grouping ahead, while behind them twinkling stars surrounded them. Below was the home of the Imperial Naval Academy. It was a pretty world, especially when seen from above.
"Lead this is Ewok 11. 12 forgot to engage the engines, and now his TIE is sitting on the floor of the hangar."
Laughter could be heard on the comm before the instructor came on "Alright settle down. 11, you're going to be 9's other wingman for this mission."
"Aye, sir"
The TIE Interceptors formed up into flights, forming diamonds where the flight leader would take point, their wingman on the right, then the third member taking the left, and then to the right and behind the third member came his/her wingman, so that when they broke into pairs, the leaders would have a wingman on the right and behind them. Iella settled in as the rear of second flight's diamond, with first flight about 300 meters ahead and to the left, and third flight 100 meters to the right. They headed towards the debris field that littered the outer edges of the system, near the Oort Cloud. The instructor's voice came on again.
"Alright, you'll break by pairs except for third flight. There are 6 beacons spread throughout this debris field, and the pair that gets the most gets a three-day leave. If a flight doesn't get any, they get to come out here again and practice zero-g training."
Iella groaned. Zero-G training was often only done with stormtroopers, and it was grueling work that was often dangerous. Jumping and running from asteroid to asteroid. The flights split up and began searching. Iella fell in behind 7, who was using speed to search faster. But that made it difficult to remain on his tail, especially when he did tight turns around asteroids just a few meters apart. The Interceptor's maneuverability made it possible, but the webbing bit into her flight suit every time they did so. They came on the first beacon, and 7 fired from the lasers on the tips of his wings, but missed. Iella took more careful aim, and sent a burst of green lasers through it. It exploded with a small orange poof.
"Good shot 8"
"Thanks 7."
"Alright group, this is lead. All the beacons have been deactivated, and it appears 9, 10, and 11 get that three day leave. Regroup and head back to the carrier."
The TIE Interceptors returned and approached the auxiliary hangar. Before they reached it, tractor beams lanced out and grabbed the fighters, then gently brought them in to be grappled by the hooks and racks overhead. The pilots climbed out, and headed for debriefing, while the fighters went into the shops for maintenance.

I was hoping to get you through the training process but this has forced you to wait a week. I'll be back the 28th. Later. ----------------------- *Flash Was Here...*

I've been back, actually- but hey: lets get to work. So you'd like to become part of an active squadron now or are you just wanting me to critique your stories? If you want in an active squadron to post with other people and be able to participate in some of the other larger activities we have around here (ESC, Wing Stories, other competitions), you need to pass through Basic Training. The first step is character creation which is your bio, basically. I posted earlier on some things you could work on, and really need to work on- if you do those things we can be in business again. Once you've completed your bio you can move on to Chapter 2: Pilot Procedure. Lemme know your intent: rock on.

Wow, Jack you didnt yell at DJ for using your line....YOU ARE 13?
Welcome to the Empire Iella...(late) may wanna fix the x wing part. X wings are slow, unmaneuverable, and hard to aim. And we dont use those here. ----------------------- FM/SCRW Raigen/Aegis 1/Phoenix Wing/mSSD Atrus/DEF/VEN/VE (VC:B)
