Indeed Jak. But thats X-Ball, X-ball is played on a bigger feild. I've never played on an X-Ball feild, only on small speed ball feilds. First time I got bunked was pretty nasty, but I got him back :P -----------------------

Football field...how about multiple acres. Now that is a paintball game. Running around with Walkie Talkies and in camo. Using a divot in the the ground for cover as the paint flies over your head. Sneaking up on someone and then taking them out before they even know you are there. Poping out of the bushes, marker a blazing.
If I had to choose between speedball and woodsball I would have to say I would side with the woods. -----------------------

I do the same as you than sion, except me and my buddys made the course. With bamboo, tall grass, rivers. All kinds of things, plus we built two wrecked up small houses in the woods to use as bases. -----------------------

We have this one bunker where I play that is basically made of aluminum roofing. Let's just say it can get pretty noisy being dug into that one. -----------------------

I wished I could play any of those anytime. I have never had any experience at it at all. But, I used to like playing army or soldier when I was a kid.
I wouldn't be very good at being the front man, running out and trying to kill as many as possible. But, I would be good at being the last man, that waited in hiding eliminating everyone that was left. Hide and seek.....
I'm a real good hider. And, from there, I can eliminate anyone. -----------------------

It was never intended as a sport. The markers were originally made to mark trees etc that were too hard to get at otherwise. It took from the first marker iin 1940 until the early-mid 80's to turn into a sport.
The first game is said to have been played in New Hampshire. -----------------------

Heh. Hooray for reviving dead threads...
Since I last posted, Laser Skirmish has started playing laser "speed ball" every day of the week. My team won the tournament against the employees team, that pissed off my ex manager.
It's not MILES gear, it's all made by the company I worked for, in Australia (Battlefield Sports). They have claymores etc, and I think they're still working on grenades. Last I heard the medic packs were in testing phase. -----------------------

I think I already stated the difference between laser skirmish and paintball. The laser guns may be properly weighted and a lot more accurate than a paintball marker, but there are things you just can't fulfil with a beam of concentrated light. With out the rounds flying over your head and the pain that comes with being hit sometimes it looses something. Plus those guns would never stand up to the mud and rain like my Tippmann  .
So to sum it up, it may be cleaner, cheaper, and more accurate but it just isn't paintball with out the paintball. -----------------------

Um actually they play regardless of weather, swimming through dams etc isn't uncommon either. They're more water proof than any marker I've ever used.
Also I said nothing about laser skirmish being better or worse. I was elaborating on my previous comments about having worked for them, played it a lot, and so being ABLE to compare it to paintball (which I have also played).

What I meant was paintball has become a common pastime amongst the youth and middle aged of the redneck set.
I used to play Lazer Tag too, BTW. Paintball's almost as expensive.
And, Jak, we "invented" explosives too.

It's not laser tag. And at $12 a game (compared to more than $50 for paintball, plus ammo), it doesn't even come close in price. I used to play a whole day (before being an employee) for $50. -----------------------

I guess since I live in rural Wisconsin, finding a Field to play on for free isn't that difficult. I can actually play paintball for three or four hours with only 14 U.S. Dollars. On the other hand, I have all my own equipment. -----------------------

Respawns for the win. Don't get those (generally) in paintball.
Besides.. how can you shoot long distance with those things? Just isn't any fun without (me being) a sniper on the hill. -----------------------

But not for the lack of reality in terms of a military simulation. Laser Skirmish was the preferred arena for cadets etc, not paintball. -----------------------
