Second of all as Linda said, he is not a crossdresser. If he wishes to use a female character, heck why not. It'll broaden your roleplaying skills too.

As I said shortly after saying that, it was a joke. I honestly couldn't care less what gender your character is. If it's believable, it's all good. When one puts a " " at the end of a line it's normally interpreted as jest... unless I missed that memo where we discredited that idea.
Relating me to Nazi's? That's a stretch (some would disagree, but that's just because they're pissed off that I think they're dim witted). You think I have no place here? I've been thinking that myself lately. Don't worry, though. I'm about to go back on patrol for another 3 months. You will have a nice break from me soon enough. I'll be under a few hundred feet of water.
If you honestly can't take a joke, you're in the wrong damn club. You can't take half of what anyone says here seriously. If you're still pissed, take it to the rest of the HC and they can decide what to do with it. -----------------------

Talon, I would really like it if we didn't turn this forum into some kind of battlefield. I'm not gonna pick sides, but (excuse me for foul language) if we are going to **** up this forum
it should be because the discussion about who's dumber, Bush or Blair got out of hand, not this. If you just forgot it happened and nobody made a joke about it it'l be peace again? And I personnaly think it's not a good idea to mention the Nazi's, as many people have a nasty reminder about them. (grandpa was shot by them) |

If you don't actually know what is going on in a situation like this, which most of you don't, you really shouldn't jump to conclusions and make a bunch of absolute statements. Let people's commanders deal with situations like this, that is our job. -----------------------

Well, I'm going to appologize to Talon for comparing him to a Nazi. I was just a wee bit upset, because yes you called me something, and I'd been having a bad day. Life at home is hellish enough and I guess I took things too seriouesly. I'm sorry Talon, and I know you were joking, but I just thought I'd bring that up for some of the other people who might get upset about stuff like this.
So yes, we've all shared our beef, so let's just let this whole issue drop. And for the sake of everyone's feelings, please don't say things that could hurt someone else's feelings unless you know that they know that you're just joking. -----------------------

Ok. I should probably bring this to attention for all you newer members out there: I was here when Talon was Captain way back when - five years ago - so I like to think I know him as a person/character. He's a decent guy. Unbeknownst to most of you, the average age of members back then was around 18. All of the new people who have joined have cut down that average age to around 14-15.
Most, if not all, of your superiors are adults who have either graduated high school, are in college, have graduated college, or even have a family of their own. You guys need to realize that this is just a game, we are a StarWars club. We're all just a bunch of folks with similar interests hoping to have a little fun - the keyword being fun. Many of us old timers like to joke around a lot because that's what we used to do back then. If you see that someone has said something "offensive" to you, but ends the statement in some kind of humorous emote, then that should instantly raise a flag in your head that it was a joke or that the individual did not intentionally cause you offense.
Bottom line - learn how to take a joke, realize the age group of those around you, realize the age of those talking to you, and understand the atmosphere (both fun and maturity) of this club and its members. -----------------------

I'm going to buck the flow and pretty much reiterate something I've seen lately. It will probably piss everyone off but this is my two cents and I can spend them any way I want to.
Linda, you chose to announce you had a female character writing as a male. In this case, you may doth protest too much. You did make common knowledge what did not need to be, for God knows whatever reason. Does that open you up for ridicule or slanderous remarks? Of course it doesn't.
Thing is, I ask myself, what if you were a crossdresser? That would be a personal assault, and probably given the context, a litiginous one at that. I don't give a damn what color any of you are, what gender you are, which way you swing, what other hobbies you have. Unless of course, if you actually are a Nazi; then I fervertly hope you are barren and unable to progagate your idiocy.
There's a certain amount of joking acceptable here. Navy vs. Army, Coke vs. Pepsi, lighthearted non-Sheepy World vs. American joking. Accusing someone of being something they are (or aren't) in a condescending and mean-spirited way isn't part of the acceptability.
Does this mean I'm slapping Tal across the face? Well, sort of. We all do joke around here. We all do cut a little close sometimes. Two things in my mind weigh in on this and all such conflicts. How well do we know each other? What is the power relationship? In this case the answers are: a) not very much, and b) a whole hell of a lot. Does that put Tal in the wrong? Yeah. Does it make him a hatemongering bigot? No, I don't think so.
One of the things I realized as I moved up through the ranks is that I'm actually allowed to have less fun than the average trooper/pilot. It sucks, but that's the responsibility part of it.
I think this situation crossed a line, and if you were army, Iwould back my trooper on it. I'm also going to ask that trooper, and the person behind it, to lighten up enough before they start throwing their own inaccurate labels onto people. You were slandered, that's what looks obvious here. You do not, however, have the right to escalate the situation without at least trying to resolve the issue in a more adult manner.

yeah everyone just calm donw, as cosmic said we're here to have fun, this isnt real, but the people are. If youre here then your probably taking a break from real life and i feel no one should really mess this place up with any comments of that sort. But this is to any people who might want to in the future. If people were joking, well then no offense should have been taken. A joke is a joke and everyone likes to just kid around every now and then. And if anyone feels insulted, well just dont let it get to you, youll never have anything fun in life. And now i just lost my trail of thought....
but I say this again, jsut nooone do that if you know or have a suspicion that they might take it the wrong way. 
For example, you can all make fun of me, and you know it. I have no power, and I take alot of things the right way, becasue I refuse to not have fun here. Some poeple, correction most people dont think im serious at all, but I am just that everyone having fun is well...good. I really don't care to know. I would preffer actually to never endevour to find out who is on the other side of the screen unless I can meet them in person.
General:
The first squad I led were the Fallen Angels. Problem makers and problem solvers. Average age of them was in the 20's.
At the end of the day more often then not we could say we had fun.
I guess I'll just cut to my point. Even with the best of intentions things can be said that can ruin the fun one can have here. -----------------------
