two sabers if im correct two sabers and dual sabers are for taking on two opponents at once and for training. you use either both for defence or one for defence and one for offence. one dude (curse me for forgeting his name)used a dual and lowered blade intensity on one so that the enemies blade would pass through it alllowing him to make a critical blow -----------------------
Raigen Tei-Yehn(pronounced rye genn tay yen)
Born illigetimately in Mos Eisley, Tatooine and moved to Mos Espa with his mother shortly after birth. His mother died when he was 10 so he moved into a small shack near a junkyard/ship graveyard owned by a Rodian family! He built, repaired, and upgraded ships until he was 14 with his Rodian friend Snudo and then set out on his own ship, the gray hawk, which was a run down YT1300. He did not make it far and landed in Chewbaa's Livestock and Imports in Mos Eisley. He landed on a set of empty crates including the crate that a tauntaun was supossed to be delivered in that day. Trying not to lose the favor of old Chewbaa, he offered to deliver the tauntaun free of change. After borrowing a vast sum of credits from Junda the Hutt, he repaired his ship and set out for the Corporate sector. Snudo stayed behind and ended up becoming Chewbaa's apprentice. The long trip did a number on the gray-hawk and so Raigen was in a whole again. Upon delivering the tauntaun, the store would not accept it because of late delivery(10 minutes!) With no other options, Raigen made a gunrn t a bakwater planet for cash but at alarge price! The right forward mandible was shot off by an authority turbolaser. In a stroke of genious, he "borrowed" a curved missle section from an AAT in a weapons museum on Etti. When the Espos found out, the gray-hawk was confiscated by the corporate sector authority and put into an impound hanger where it remains today. He lost all hope after that and was able to sell his droids R5-E4 & R2-K9, his best side arm, his tauntaun, and his mandolorian armor to afford a trip to corscant. When the private freighter was intercepted by pirates half way through, he was striped of his remaining cash and then dropped of on Lur. There he was sold into slavery until the slave ship he was on was stopped by the Imperial Navy. Upon his freedom he swore himself to the Empire and went to Abrae to join the Imperial Navy. In his spare time he designs ships and studies various languages and star maps. When not in uniform, he sports a tracker utility vest, long black military style pants with red striping, a white pull over shirt, and a DT-57 "ANNIHILATOR" HEAVY BLASTER PISTOL as a side arm. He has sinced gained enough money to buy a pet reek which he uses for unnamed reasons. He plans on saving up enough money to return to Etti in a blaze of glory and redeem his ship...the gray-hawk. The next puchase on his list will be a R3 style droid and a pit droid. After redeeming his ship he plans to star his own ship yard and retire at a ripe, old age. |

Most times a single crystal is what gives the color to the blade, but there are some multi-crystal sabers and if they are different colors they do blend. -----------------------

I have two questions
1. after you become a DJ and your in the army(or navy) can you use you lightsaber while in a squad?(or squadron)
2. If I become a DJ I want to specialize and have two lightsabers t could it connect and become a lightstaff then unconnect and be two lightsabers again(btw I would only use one then if I want to surprise my opponet i'd pull out my second lightsaber could I do that?(btw if I do get in i'll try to end up with that) -----------------------

1) If you become part of the Dark Jedi Order, it takes extensive training in order to use a lightsaber... a single one. Wielding dual lightsabers is incredibly hard - as is a lightstaff. They're two completely different forms, and "mastering" them both in order to use both would take years (in game time) - your character would have to have a decent rank (wisdom/knowledge) before you can even be proficient in both arts.
2) We keep the DJO and all that it entails seperate from other divisions. If your Army/Navy character is a Dark Jedi - no, you may not use it in stories (superiors correct me if I'm wrong), but, for example, Army characters cannot just go about wielding lightsabers on the battlefield in stormtrooper armor alongside squad buddies.
Whenever there is a mission involving the use of these weapons of old, it will be a DJO mission involving only DJO members.
3) Actually getting into the DJO is no easy task. You must be a superb writer. We do not have a lot of members in the Dark Jedi Order - let that be a sign of what our standards are. People need to work hard on their writing before their application will even be considered for reviewal.
4) As it is right now, I believe (because it's changed throughout the years), the requirements at the moment are 4 consecutive months of active duty service. You must also get a recommendation letter from a member from the Army High Command, Navy High Command, and Dark Council - these were the old requirements, and I'm pretty sure they're still in effect.
5) Fortunately for us, we do not have or allow members to just "choose" multiple styles and suddenly become "masters" right quick - if we did allow such acts, we'd have gods instead of mortals trying to survive in this galaxy (or from themselves). -----------------------

I'll note that as one of the people that reviews applications for the DJO I don't care so much about letters of recomendation that aren't from you're superiors. IE: If an Army kid asks me for a recommendation I probably wouldn't even give it, but even if I did, how would it matter? I don't know their service record enough to recommend them to anyone. Their squad leaders, platoon leaders and the Army Command though, they'd know a lot more.
Same thing for the Navy kids that apply, only with the appropriate more-differenter positions and the fact that I still wouldn't give a letter of recomendation because I'm one of the ones reviewing it in the first place and it seems really dumb for me to write a letter to myself. Now, if it comes down to Tal or Kad needing to know about one of the Navy kids, I'd probably go ahead and say something.
Anyway, just some clarification on that point.
Bottom line: Time in service, activity level, writing competency and recommendations from your chain of command's superiors are what really speaks in a DJO app. -----------------------

One slight correction.. we can/do use our abilities and weapons in public stories, but since the Dark Jedi are still in hiding we use them only when forced to or we can do so without anyone noticing. I've had to limit people's use of the Force and their sabers in squad stories before because two Dark Jedi would do the work of a squad and much faster.. made the story no fun for anyone but the two. -----------------------

I know this is a bit late but I noticed a comment about black blades on a lightsaber. In actual life I really dont see how that would be possible other than a dark purple light that set everything that was white off as purple(Like in a club or bar, an actual 'black light'). But I remember in a lot of other SW clubs people used black cores with a colored edge on their sabers, as well as some would use a white or gray core with a dark or black edge.
Just thought I'd mention my sightings of this, incase it could help in the future..
As far as crystals, each crystal in a lightsaber was ment to tune a different aspect of the blade from what I learned, of course I may be wrong. All lightsabers in acception of training sabers were three or more crystals, with one large crystal being an energy crystal, one medium being a focus crystal and the other an adjustment crystal. The color of the saber would reflect the energy crystal due to that being the power core of the saber, however the color of the blade would indeed only be in the same remote area due to the other two crystals colors mixing with the energy. The focus crystal was set to adjust the width of the blade, making it either a broad saber or a thin saber blade. The adjustment crystal being the middle crystal between the other two adjusted the length of the blade. It would determine if the saber was as long as a claymore or daikatana or a shorter blade like the average saber or even shorter like a wakazashi.
This is just things I learned over my years in SW dark jedi clubs etc. It may not be the same here, but I figured it might help or could be put into use if wanted.  -----------------------

Just to extend on the information given above (I'm an army greener hoping for DJO eventually for those who don't recognize me), synthetic crystals do not always produce red sabers. After Order 66, the Empire had the sites of most organic crystals destroyed, forcing the NJO to use mostly synthetic crystals (Luke is in fact using a synthetic crystal to power his green lightsaber).
As well from what I've read (I don't remember the exact books), the Jedi, or Dark Jedi in this instance, doesn't necessarily know what kind of lightsaber they're making until it's made, as they go into a sort of meditative trance. (An exception to this is Darth Maul, whow as given the plans for his saberstaff by Sidious).
As to colors and other such things, the color of the blade can usually be determined by the color of the crystal (see both KotOR games). Black blades are not really feasible, as there is no real such thing as black light (because black is the total absence of light), but as stated earlier, there are creative ways to go about it.
I really hope I didn't make myself look like a bloody idiot, but that's mostly what I know as far as actual construction and colors (not mentioning dual-phase sabers and all the other fun stuff)
